Opinions nerfed Sprint Burst
So, now after almost 5 days of nerfed SB, how are we feeling? I never really used it often when playing survivor, but I do notice that the survivors barely make any distance now playing as killer, it is still really good for pre leaving, but I do notice a big difference, thoughts?

People just prerun a bit earlier now, I really haven't been noticing much aside from whenever survivors aren't paying attention and they just SB right infront of me. Still an amazing perk.
Hard to say because I've seen it much less. Lithe and Dramaturgy have been making more appearances in my killer matches instead.
As a former Sprint Burst enjoyer, I've completely given up the perk in most of my builds. It's still in my stealthy Ghost Notes / Lightweight build, but it's mostly there just to get the build activated. Might be useful to the better loopers out there but it's a dead perk slot to me now.
It was my only fun Meta perk and since don't like any of the other exhaustion perks (aside from Head On), I've moved onto running my goofy sub optimal builds instead. Been having fun with my 2V8 themed build (Alert + Any Means Necessary + Urban Evasion + Iron Will) and my Alien: Isolation build (Urban Evasion + Diversion + Premonition + Chem Trap or some other crafting perk).
Same here, I saw SB the first days and it was funny to watch them burst away in front of me only to realise that they don't make much distance anymore, but I see way more Lithe
Like 90% of people just went to lithe which is kinda funny. Who could have guessed that completely killing the perk would result in this?
I dont really see Sprint Burst anymore. And why would anyone really run this Perk? 2 seconds is just not enough. Not saying the Perk is completely dead, but IMO it is one of the weaker Exhaustion Perks now, at the very least below Lithe and DH and possibly also below BL.
I think it should be reverted honestly lol why take it over anything else.
Needs to be reverted was a un-needed change.
Vigil nerfs where enough they didn't need to do both.
All it does is gonna make meta more stale because you'll have even less variety in exhaustion and the goal post is gonna be moved to lithe next because that is gonna be most common exhaustion perk now.
I personally feel indifferent about it. I wouldnt get mad if they kept it or decide to revert it. It does its job by giving u a head start. But yeah what @NordSahne said I dont see a lot of sprint burst anymore which is interesting imo. A perk that was like meta fell from grace in one patch
As a Vigil/Sprint Burst-enjoyer, who would selfishly rather see Sprint Burst buffed, I think it is okay for the devs to "move the goal posts" as their vision of the game shifts over time.
IMO, Dead Hard is unnecessarily difficult to use reliably. Head On is somewhat difficult to use reliably, as is Smash Hit. In contrast, Lithe and Sprint Burst are extremely easy to use reliably.
The devs may be attempting to create a range of exhaustion perks which vary in ease of use, and whose rewards are scaled accordingly. In this case, Sprint Burst is easy to use reliably, so the value Survivors gain from it has been diminished. If Survivors want a higher value Exhaustion perk, they can attempt to master a perk of higher risk/reward.
Sprint Burst is still a reliable form of "Dead Hard for distance," in the right hands.
I almost never see it anymore, Lithe is everywhere though.
The rest of exhaustion perks are extremely situational:
So ultimately only Lithe viable now.
But will be nerfed within a year or so.
It seems survivor perks are designed to barely do anything but unlike killers survivor has no power to play around they are just skin so the trend almost every perk useless for them makes the role extremely unappealing and this is why killer queue so long besides evenings
Personally I'd like to see it changed to 2.5s. I think that would be a nice middle ground where you lose an extra meter of distance over Lithe or Balanced in exchange for Sprint Burst's flexibility. As of now I think Lithe and even Balanced are just straight up better.
I think the idea for survivor perks to be very niche and extremely situational, it shouldn't ever offer consistent or meaningful "perk" using them.
Again the problem with this design philosophy that unlike killers, survivor only has perks, they are skin. Killer has extremely oppressive powers , addons that change gameplay and on top of that very powerful perks as well. Even if killer perks become like survivor perks they still have unique thing about them
The thing is also that Killers have the advantage that their Perks dont need to be good on every Killer. For Killer it is enough if a Perk is good on some Killers, because then those Killers can use them.
For Survivor a Perk just needs to be good to be used. And there are less and less of those. Mainly because they dont only get nerfed, but they basically get removed. There is no point in using Sprint Burst for example. Fast Track is worse than it was even buffed. And Vigil will also be worse than the release version of the Perk, so also completely removed from the Loadouts.
I never ran Sprint Burst but I decided to try it in a build the other day and found that it absolutely wasn't worth running
Crazy to think it's been one of the undisputed kings of exhaustion (ignoring small window of background player) for over a decade may you rest in peace queen
I haven't noticed because I've only played Judgment so I don't care. but I'm still seeing SB it didn't go anywhere. I'm not gonna cry over a top 3 perk of over a decade being nerfed.
Lithe was always better. just ask all those Laras
I think it’s too early to tell, I think the wounds of the nerf are still too fresh so very few are using it, I’ve seen it personally less than 6 times.
But that being said, on the killer end it seems very manageable to deal with now, the games i saw it was on clown, judgement and houndmaster. On judgement it was pretty noticeable since they’re 4.4 and I didn’t lose distance much didn’t even when using power which felt really nice. Not once did I think ‘ugh sprint burst outplayed ig’ it was more ‘oh sprint burst ok noted’.
As for on the survivor end, I haven’t tested how it feels myself although I’m not exactly rushing at the opportunity; sprint burst has never been my exhaustion perk of choice and especially in recent years I’ve decided to cut it out of most of my build because it’s just too boring good, I would rather use more fun alternatives like smash hit, or just not use one altogether for more perk variety.
If the perk is completely dead after a few weeks we can discuss buffing it back up, either reducing its cooldown, or finding a middle ground at 2.5 secs of haste, or reworking the perk entirely to be a lower haste amount over a longer period. But yeah I’m definitely of the opinion of wait and see especially with the mmr reset muddying the waters.
Still strong. Just wait for the typical content creators "THIS PERK IS STILL SUPER STRONG!" videos. People just jumped wagon immediately instead of you know… actually trying it for an extended period of time.
It’s a stupid nerf that should be reverted immediately. people only even started complaining about Sprint burst over the past year because of its busted synergy with vigil. now that vigil is nerfed and is getting gutted within a matter of days, there’s no reason for the sprint burst nerf to stay as it is.
sad thing is that the nerf will most likely stay and never get reverted/looked at again since the survivor community doesn’t have a collective group that will spam posts on social media screaming and demanding the devs to do x change. just look at the styptic agent from last year. gutted because CC’s started complaining about it and then never got a second look because not enough backlash was made from the gutting. it happens every time😔.
Using the Night Light statistics. Lithe is now the most used perk, even over WoW. Which is surprising definitely. Sprint Burst is still strong but now Lithe is better.
As my games have started getting harder with the MMR update I've noticed that many good players still use it and think the perk is still very strong, I think the pick rate will drop a bit but will still stay in the top 10 strongest perks.
Not so much surprising. WoO did not change, but Sprint Burst did. So the current pickrate of Lithe is not only those who ran it before, but those who migrated over from SB.
No real change after testing it out. It probably won't affect players who can manage their Exhaustion throughout the match.
Players who can't manage their Exhaustion might see things differently once they learn how to.
I can't imagine how being able to manage your Exhaustion and use Sprint Burst whenever you want could ever be considered weak.
I think it's a fair balance change, as reducing the duration from 3 seconds to 2 seconds means fewer situations where you can gain distance just by mindlessly using it.
On the other hand, in matches between 4 survivors who can't even loop properly and a killer who can't use their power effectively, I have no idea how they feel or what the outcome would be, so I can't say for sure if this was an essential adjustment.
I played 5 games with SB Vigil and Ghost Notes. Its of course weaker. You cant just chill anymore till the last second to run away. But i think its still good esp. when u 99% it
I don't see it as much and when I do see people with it they're a little more cautious about using it and I think that's fine really. Sprint burst's problem was ultimately that it a lot of people just used it as a crutch against their own poor positioning on the map.
Yup and the new Hex: Under Your Thumb, though most likely overall rare, adds a further reason to not bring half of the exhaustion perks… Balanced Landing gets Zero distance with that hex active on top of only being situationally usable.
Also what comes to mind is how short Dead Hard for distance was, and how that was some huge issue too. I hate facing against current Dead Hard more than old Dead Hard 10 times over.
Lithe is the new Sprint Burst. Number 1 picked survivor perk on Nightlight, not like that matters though.
Isnt it currently the typical kneejerk reaction phase after any tweak?
Omg koller too szrong, omg perk dead.
In 1 or 2 months people will notice the perk still useable.
Yeah. This happened with a lot of perks. Most prominently Circle of Healing. Every time they nerfed it to lower healing rates it got called "useless" each time even though it provided fast self resets to the entire team and was still brought every game. Now it's in a properly balanced state now that it doesn't provide self care.
Circle of Healing now only works for SWF.
In soloq does nothing
Truth be told, I'm pretty sure it doesn't work in swiffers either.
Yeah I suppose "works" passing as a mediocre pick
Interesting, as a player who loved Sprint Burst and actively used it years ago I'll still use the perk.
I honestly think it's great against Judgment, I like to see the beam coming and I just SB away from the gen. I still probably will use the perk predominantly due to the fact that it just has the on-demand function of getting distance, along with me enjoying the high skill ceiling of 99ing your SB.
If I was to replace SB, I probably would just do double exhaustion. The thing with Lithe is most people typically use Lithe in chase builds, so it's more micro gameplay based while I prefer to play more macro centered, so like I enjoy Smash Hit/Lithe but the issue mainly for me is that you are highly dependent on windows and while trying to go for window vaults, you can get hit or even downed trying to get the speed you need. - not saying Lithe is a bad perk by any means, you're just more limited unless of course you are using micro perks with it (Finesse, Resilience, etc). I probably would just adopt Dramaturgy or Overcome with Lithe as a secondary perk but I don't know really, I just don't like the hyperdependence you have with a Lithe.
I don't like Head On, so there's that.
I will add: ultimately, I would prefer to have one exhaustion perk as a whole, so I guess I'd choose Lithe or Dramaturgy if I had to pick one if SB was utterly unusable - I wouldn't claim SB is that by a long shot.
Balanced Landing is just far too situational for me to justify it as a single perk and Dead Hard is too situational once more (2 uses, yikes) but I respect Dead Hard players regardless.
they are gonna get nerfed soon. Just wait for the inevitable content creators complaints
your username is so real
just the way to approach the game lol
with the amount of aura reading in the game, it has to be brought with Shadowstep to even be viable anymore, the amount of times I have seen Judgement get a free 3 hit in a reset heal just because people are actively using CoH is crazy.
The Judgements Beam is on a 6 second cooldown, SB has a 40 second cooldown… how is that a great use of SB?
Been playing judgment mostly, so I don't care about it as much. But I have still been seeing it. Just not as common as lithe now, which… I mean, I'm playing Judgment so I just couldn't be bothered to care about any of the exhaustion perks. It's a nice vacation.
that's patently untrue; you tbag inside the Boon
Would you like video footage? Okay.
Here you go.

I will edit and add that I to this day do not understand that people think a Judgment is going to spam and hit you eventually with a 6 second cooldown. Just because you have a short cooldown doesn't necessarily mean you will hit me if I know how to read tile geometry, abandon loops that I know will not work for me against said killer, and just you know - as shown in the video, you can sit on a generator, see the beam coming, and literally SB away from being hit.
If you don't have SB, guess what? You have to prerun to not be hit so much, look at Platinum with Object of Obsession (which I would argue is terrible against Judgment) and her getting sniped multiple times due to not having SB.
At this point I wouldn't be surprised if they nerf Lithe with the meta-shakeup coming in about 5 weeks.
you can move after the beam starts coming and still dodge it, that's literally all I am saying… SB doesn't really add anything to the equation.
If that is the case, why did my teammates in the video not do that? I went down once that whole trial, yet look at the randoms? Hm.
Also quit moving the goalposts, literally Platinum had a full meta slave build + OOO due to Naymeti touting it, yet she went down multiple times.
Dead Hard didn't do anything for her, Adrenaline obviously didn't do anything for her, Resilience only helped with gen speeds.
Literally in the video, you see Platinum struggling and running behind me begging to reset - amazing.
I rest my case.
I don't know how they could nerf Drama but Lithe is quite likely. Unfortunately these outcry-based nerfs never satisfy anyone. They just shift their focus to a new target.
