Otzdarva’s stream today

So Otz set out to prove that NOED is overpowered and more importantly - unfair. As everyone who doesn’t play one side exclusively would tell you.

He decided to play like 90%+ of the EU servers, that being proxy camp, tunnel and NOED.

He was shocked to find that he won game after game after game after game after game. No effort, no skill required, just proxy camp to bait the unhook then tunnel mercilessly with NOED as back up. The survivors all had their “broken” perks, DS, BT etc but it wasn’t enough to escape. He was using Legion too who most people try to claim isn’t a viable killer.

Now you can try to put it on the survivors saying they should “rush gens etc” but you’ve likely got people who just want to unhook their friend so they can enjoy the game, or solos who just want to pip so they NEED the unhook as the game requires you to get it.

This isn’t a shock one bit. I’ve said it many times. Killer takes no skill. Camp, tunnel, NOED and you’ll do really well in most of your games with no effort required.

Now only at the very end did one team manage to escape. He played daft on purpose I think 2/3 made it out, would have been 2 but he purposefully let one go so that would have been a tie. It took a combination of DS and luck offerings for kobes to make it happen. Know why the last team did so well? Because they were a swf, one on the hook told the rest to just rush gens. So one took the sacrifice for the team. That means the gameplay consisted one one person queuing for 7 mins in the lobby just to sit on a hook for 2 mins and be out of the game with a depip. The others just had to hold M1 and hope the gens were done before their friend died. Killer mains in their effort to try and justify winning at any cost say this is fine but we all know its just garbage. Nobody wants to play like that because it’s not fun nor exciting.

I don’t expect anyone here to agree. Forum is mostly full of the most biased killer mains who try to justify anything so long as it favours their side. Otz explains perfectly why NOED is cheap and needs a change. Anyone but the most biased players can see it.

So I guess this is for the dev team. The question is are you willing to be brave enough to shake up the game? Or will fear or change leave it in the state that its in. Killers want more time, survivors want less tunneling. The nature of the game should change based on that.

In b4 “legit strategy” “balanced perk”

I was going to argue with you but the "survivor sided game" LMAO XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD KEKW.

"Theres like 19 killers and only 3 are strong at end game."

Nah fam, there are a lot of strong killer, the thing is you want braindead killers like freddy that ignore perks without any skill (Freddy ignoring bt without any skill needed) and get survivors at loop without any skill (Blood lust snares freddy) + Easy pressure.

Demogorgon is strong on the right hands, can be weak in some scenarios but he counters shack pretty well + LT loops + Jungle gym

Oni is pretty good as well

    Hillbilly (We all knew it)

Nurse (Oh god a killer that takes skill!!! how is that possible!? yes i know)

Spirit (Kinda braindead but not having any problem with her rn)

    Freddy (Aka braindead killer)

Huntress (She probably doesn't have good map pressure, but she has a ranged power and has kill pressure, she can throw hatchets from the other side of the map)

Hag (Pretty good killer, high tier)

    Doctor

Ghostface (Using the tru3ta1ent build and playstyle)

Where are the "3 viable killer" honey? 10 viable killers!!! and they're going to rework the weak one... that you dont know how to properly play them doesn't mean they suck :)

Stop trying to ruin the game and git gud and l2p killers, not all of them should be braindead like freddy

    Screw freddy.

    <----trapper main /kefka laugh.

I think the survivor ques are long because not many people playing killer.

Chill out NOED gamer. Are afraid that they are going to nerf your favorite perk?

I use Noed very, very rarely, almost never because I usually dont need it. Noed is probably the only reliable (Not even that reliable considering you can break the totems) second chance perk. (Low risk, high reward) Also NOED has a very simple counter, doing totems. Survivors have a lot of second chance perks, and theres no counter to them.

  • But this doesn’t support the “oppressed killer main” narrative so people will get upset by it

“NOED doesn't hold a candle to DS's OPness”

    😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂

You make out NOED is this fair anti genrush perk then go on to complain about DS and how its only a second chance perk. The bias is extremely strong.

He is 100% right. Did you even pay attention to anything else in his comment besides that phrase?

Dunno if someone pointed out but I had a game today where Hag camped me on first hook. Teammates did gens and I got saved after 1 gen was left. We finished it and opened an exit only to see she had NOED and (should have played around it) Blood Warden. We had the Hawkings map where some of the totem spawns are really hard to find. I did one and at least 2 others were cleansed if you can trust teammates in post game chat. Was that game fun? No, to sit 1.5mins on a hook and waiting 60secs to get out was pain. 2 made out that game and thats because the hag was like rank 16 or something. Any competent killer with that setup would have gotten easy 4k just because the snowball NOED gives. Granted we should have done totems but sometimes you just cant and dont have the time to do it. What I'm saying is that playstyle like that is extremely boring on both sides and doesnt make you learn anything, and given how good bad killers do with it imagine good ones rolling over with it.

The only reason you wouldn't have time to do it is because you refused to do it. If you have trouble finding totems, run Detective's Hunch.

Or people can just play the game long enough to memorize the locations. Thats why adding more spawn locations doesnt help hex perks. Best hex imo is devour hope. Cause they dont get a notification until it's too late.

If survivors are supposed to do gens AND totems every match then why is there still no totem counter in the HUD for solos?

That's a discussion you should post in the idea category. As for why they don't add one is beyond me. I would love to see a change in the HUD.

Even if you're solo you can't sit there and say "I can't do Generators AND Totems, it takes to much time etc." That's a strategy you need to come up with as a Solo player. It's been done countless times, and you still have options at your disposal that help you find and counter totems.

  • who the ######### enjoys playing like that though unless youre a scumbag.

  • @xXNurseXx said:

    easy and healthy change

    • add another surv objective or something
    • expand the time survivor are on hooks so more chasing is more efficient than camping

People already think doing totems AND gens is too much apparently, so another objective would surely upset them.

Um...totems aren't the counter to NOED. Not only does it punish you severely if the killer doesn't have NOED, but it uses way more time than just keeping up dull totems that spawn in the open in an undefensible location to cleanse later if need be. I would love to see a totem counter though, just to make NOED more fair against solos.

So you're telling me there is another way to counter a Hex Totem other than taking the 15 seconds to cleanse it? I would love to hear it. It's a risk if the killer doesn't have NOED yes, but you get rewarded for it none the less and the ends justify the means. Just like as killer, you take the risk of a survivor having unbreakable, DS, Adrenaline, etc but if you take that risk it will save your ass at the end would it not?

I don't know anybody that would prefer wasting 70+ seconds of objective time over allowing the killer to access a perk they may or may not have. To put it in perspective, for Ruin it's 14+ seconds to remove something with certainty that your efforts have an impact. Of course cleansing NOED in end game is a perfectly good play, but cleansing every dull totem in sight is inefficient and an unnecessary gamble.

I get what you're saying, the amount of time to cleanse every totem is damn near as long as doing a generator. Investing that much time can be dangerous, but like I said as of right now it is the only counter to NOED. Breaking totems is the counter to every Hex perk, whether it be Ruin, DH, HL, anything. The only difference is NOED is an endgame Hex that needs to be forsought early-mid game.

It's a heavy gamble, yeah but not inefficient because its not like you were doing nothing the entire match. Say, you decided "He's not going to have NOED" and did zero totems, do you still have that right to be angry because you decided to not do a secondary objective?

I agree that doing bones is a way to counter NOED, but I stand by that it is inefficient. If you really don't want NOED to pop, you can risk your team by being inefficient and that's ok. But, if you want to know how to counter NOED whilst maintaining an efficient and competitive strategy the solution is a bit more nuanced.

About anger, I completely agree that you shouldn't complain about a perk if you make no effort to counter it.

The devs also said "just get better as killer" after Ruin got reworked and "infinites take skill" a while back. Can we please have some critical thinking and form our opinions without appealing to authority?

So it's better to go the Vox populi route?

  • It's better to think and analyze things for yourself and form your own opinion instead of taking whetever the devs, or streamers, or anyone says as gospel just because they're in a position of "authority". It's fine to take what these people say into account to form your opinion, it's not fine to come here and say "hey guys X or Y is fine because the devs said so, suck it up".

Just saying the truth. Be ready for it and just cleanse totems. If you hate NOED so much, use that one perk that helps you find the totems.

    One? Theres more than one

  • Otdz has said many times that the game is survivor sided. I can see why you have used one of his streams to bolster your point but you then go on to say killer takes no skill, which makes me wonder if you watch his streams at all.

well actually his point was, that you dont need to put a lot of effort into playing killer. Just do the least amount of work (camp/tunnel) and the game rewards you as if you played really well. He didnt say that killers in general are OP, but why should you chase people and do mindgames, when the result is the same by doing the least amount of work.

"I'm going to do the least amount of effort. [... Nurse Streamer Story ...] What I'm trying to prove here, is that you can win by doing absolutely f'ing nothing."

    https://www.twitch.tv/videos/599420540?t=0h24m32s

"But if anyone tells you that killer is impossible to play and even the best killers only get 1k or 2k, you show them this. Hopefully. We'll see. It's early in the experiment. This is the point. The point I'm trying to make, is that getting 4k means absolutely nothing. I've had games were I've played... well I'm not gonna say perfectly bc no one plays perfectly, but I've played very decently and I've struggled to get 1 f'ing kill."

  • This is a casual game, not a competitive game. Just because one extremely competitive, extremely good player does well with NOED does not make it over powered. It still stands the perk forces you to use 3 perks during the whole match, and is one of the weakest perks in the game.

  • Noed ebony and keys needs to go

  • There it is.

Proof that a camping Bubba with noed is broken, teams that rushed gens and cleansed totems as all of you keep saying here is the way to counter camping and he still got a 4k.

And this is before they nerf gen speeds.

    Bubba/Noed needs a rework.

He's a great player, but it's not like he was busting out sick moves in these games. He was doing what any player with at least 50 hours in the game could do. He put forth minimal effort and got 4K against survivors he thought were pretty good. Some were VERY good (and were good sports about it, too. While others weren't, but he understood that.) One semi-good chase, camp, win.

Exactly this. Otz is a good player but he literally just went in circles around the hook.

We’ve seen him play hard and only just beat them on the last gen after a lightning fast genrush and then we see him circling the hook and winning more comfortably. There is something wrong with that. The way that is more fair, fun and requires more skill should offer the greatest benefit.

I think that's something a lot of killer mains don't take into consideration. They're okay with it because they hate the survivor base SO MUCH that they want them to suffer, and they don't consider how it's unfair to other killers who actually put in effort to get fewer kills, despite a lower skill discrepency between survivors and killers. The animosity between the two sides is very unhealthy for the game.

  • @xGodSendDeath said:

NOED is basically the only second chance perk that killers get and it's easily counterable. Delete DS and Adrenaline and I'd be fine with NOED going too

They arent on the same level tho:

    1. Noed requires survivors cleansing all the totems before finishing all gens, or running around cleansing totems after all gens. They actively have to interact while buying enough time to do everything.
    2. DS literally requires the killer to not pick up a freshly unhooked survivor.
    3. Adrenaline isnt that good. It's only really good when you get off the hook or were downed right before. 9 out of 10 times, people who use adrenaline actually dont benefit from it at all, yet 9/10 times, you benefit from NOED, be it the speedboost alone.
