Same, I just played a match on Haddonfield, I fast vaulted a pallet and didn't hear anything. I wasn't sure if only I couldn't hear it or if the killer also did not hear it.
-
There are literally map offerings and an offering to negate map offerings. The idea of Haddonfield being killer sided is absurd.
It's the release day of major changes to a killer who has high potential, do you really expect people to not try him out?

This only works if BT is basekit and applied all the time. If it’s a perk, then this betrays survivors who don’t have it. All the killer would need to do is see if the survivor has collision or not, if they don’t, you know they have it and don’t swing, if they do, you know they aren’t protected and can just down them immediately.
At that point the survivor who just unhooked can body block. If the killer is close enough to down the survivor you just unhooked again and you know you don't have BT, then 1. You should not have went for the rescue to begin with, and 2. Should have waited for the killer to get further away from the hook. If the killer was camping then sorry, better hop on a gen.

This could easily be fixed if it got the same change it already needs right now: While you're under the endurance effect from BT, you have no collision with the killer.
This is a change I would enjoy, and have expressed or awhile. Keep BT the same but they have no collision with the killer. They changed D Strike to make it so if you got unhooked you literally couldn't do anything but the absolute necessary (gates, mending, traps, etc.) To prevent it from being used offensively as well as giving yourself a choice "I either do nothing for 60s or do this gen and lose DS. Making BT have no collision would stop survivors from using a defensive perk, offensively.

All valid points that I had not considered yet.
@JPLongstreet I see your point, but with smart play, isn't the idea of a 'free escape' during EGC already possible with Borrowed Time as it is?
@RareOmen @sizzlingmario4 and @SuzuKR you all raise a very good point about the abusability of the idea, unfortunately, I don't play the game aggressive enough to have foreseen that outcome. It's probably not going to be a satisfying response but off the top of my head, in that situation, the killer could always just hit the player trying to to play like that, or even string them along for a bit, if they're chasing someone else and the BT equipped survivor is chasing the killer, then that's two players not working on generators. I'll have a think about ways to combat the issue you've all raised and update the post if I can think of one.
Thanks for the feedback.
I understand the reasoning for wanting to change BT but even then if the timer only starts after being 24 meters away from the killer that's a considerable amount of distance to make it to a strong loop, pallet, or any kind of safety just for the survivor to then gain another 12 seconds of invulnerability. Not to mention what if they hop on a gen within 24 meters? Do they lose BT? This perk is fine the way it is, they changed it once and made it even stronger.
"I see your point, but with smart play, isn't the idea of a 'free escape' during EGC already possible with Borrowed Time as it is?"
Not exactly, during EGC Borrowed Time is only a cog in the wheel of a free escape if the survivor is also running D Strike. Perks like STBFL are reasons why Borrowed Time alone is not a free escape.
-
High caliber survivors will hug loops and corners with no space in between. Doing that gives the perception that they are faster than you. Unless they have the perk hope, blood pact, or a boon in play then they are not moving any faster than normal (with hacking as an exception of course).
Advice as killer: Hug the loops just as much as them, double back when appropriate, quickly look the opposite direction to give the survivor the idea that you're going to loop in the other direction. Only a handful of loops exist that need to be brute forced and unfortunately you just need to chase until they drop the pallet.
-
Okay so what if I get unhooked and decide to chase the killer with infinite BT? If I won't lose my BT until I'm away from the killer I guess I won't go away from the killer until they hit me. This would further encourage using it offensively like it already is.

color ranks are meaningless now, killers and survivors have hidden mmr that goes towards sbmm (skill based matchmaking) and it's a very bad system on account of contrastable player bases for both killers and survivors. this means you will be paired against highly differently skilled people a lot because it's all the game can spare
Understood my good person. Kinda sucks that no matter how long of a break one can take, you'll always be cucked by the system

If you were able to be camped that often maybe you should have run perks like deliverance, breakdown or just a stealthy build. Getting camped on the hook sucks but you should have learned from that to run different perks to prevent it or avoid it in general.

I forget how every person that is not us, is a killer that can 4k every sweaty survivor team, every game with perkless addonless clown without tunneling, camping or slugging and going to the corner of the map for 20 seconds every time they hook a survivor just to give them a fair chance. If only us peasants could get to your skill level, dude, we would understand how not necessary these tactics are. We would understand how we are just being mean to the survivors to compensate for our very very small and dysfunctional skill level.
BTW survivors win the game by holding a button on an inanimate object. Until they have to use their brain a little more to progress their objective, I do not give a ######### what killers do in a match to make it easier on themselves. Survivors are not entitled to the killer going easy on them. Ever.

all I have is scrap but I've pieced together a rainbow assortment of Lethal Pursuer, BBQ, Brutal Strength and Enduring.
I really wish there wasn't a delay to vault/break, Enduring=Brutal could be so much better. I can\t wait for Hoarder and Franklins though, I passed up Hoarder once and I regret it
I heard about hoarder on him, is it worth running though? I've never ran that perk.
-
You could run anti-tunnel perks, but at the end of the day, if a killer wants you dead then it will happen. I always think of it as a win when I get camped or tunneled. The killer feels the need to get me out of the game because I was too difficult to catch. Try thinking of it at a different angle. Killers already get penalized for staying too close to hooks, they also get penalized if they only go after one person the entire game while others are finishing gens and escaping. It may not be great to go against but at least the killers who do that aren't getting any better. Sometimes you gotta be the martyr for your team.
-
With your entire team disconnecting then yeah your pretty much screwed unless you find the hatch. As far as the chain hunt you need to solve the cube, but it's pretty pointless to solve it if you have no teammates to distract him. Could be just a one-off.
-
If your main concern is the game crashing then you should post this in the bug reporting thread. If your concerns are the chains then the best work around is making distance, and watching for when he uses it. It's not hard to move left or right and dodge them, on top of that, you can use the environment to break chains even faster.

A suggestion for the Clicky Guard Squads - and I've had a couple - is to check how altruistic they really are. You can turn what seems like a tunnel into a healthy juggle, and if they're really desperate for those flashlights you know they're setting up even before you down someone: keep your head on a swivel, and avoid focusing anyone. You might not get your guaranteed kills, but a gamble can really pay off against people who get confident against you. If things aren't working, you can always break off to find a weaker link - and SWFs always have a weak link.
My heart bleeds for you though, RareOmen. Legion wouldn't be my first choice when running into these guys - my Pig honestly does better than my Doctor or Wraith against the tryhards.
Trust me, after the match all I kept thinking was "ooo they're lucky they didn't go against my doctor or demo" Im sure if i get a squad like this again i'll be more adept at giving them a run for their money.
-
Dead hard isn't a second chance perk. It's meant to be an extender hence the dash forward. It's literally a one trick pony. You know who has it the first time they use it, just bait it. Tip: While in chase as you catch up, shake your mouse or analog (whatever you use) and watch how many people dead hard because they think you're going for a hit. It works 98% of the time.

I had a similar Soul Guard death squad last night that sent me to Coldwind and I am curious about this counterplay myself.
1 survivor is on generators. The other three are keeping you occupied basically. Okay, so you injure all 3. And then you down one or they go into a locker. What is the correct line of play? If you leave them, they recover on their own. But you can't pick them up either because they play around lockers so you'll just eat a flashlight.
Im sorry you had to go through the pain lol. What I really learned as far as counterplay is just do as much damage as you can. Get them afraid of flashlighting, my biggest mistake from that match was that I didnt bait enough, had I done that i could have made it at least a little bit harder to blind me

I'll copy/paste my edit, sorry, it's been sending incomplete responses: If you're fighting a survivor team, you're not applying map pressure - you're letting them control the field of play. Let them get up, get on the gens, take back control. Them wasting time getting each other is more time you have to pressure things.
Soul Guard is, itself, a perk comprised entirely of survivor counterplay against mid-hex meta. Asking for counterplay against counterplay is saying you're not willing to adapt - and admitting that to yourself is a good thing.
Last bit - sometimes they'll just be too good. That's okay. Even with how you played, I'd be surprised if you depipped. Take the L, spend a few points, take a breather if you gotta, come back strong. I'm genuinely rooting for fellow killers who get destroyed more than any who hold their own, because they're worth believing in and more likely to learn something if they apply themselves.
I appreciate it. Thanks for the insight!
-
That seemed like the only option I had, I kid you not it was like Seal Team 6 bro, the only way I could get a snowball going was to slug and lure the others in. Like I said, Im experienced as a killer and all my options flew out the window when I seen how well they were playing. I was legion (not my best killer)
-
@BenZ0 said:
Feels bad, sadly there is nothing really you can do about, depending on the killer ofc. Should've just tried to 1 by 1 hook them, that would be the best way, even if its very hard with the way they played. Something like this can really spoil the fun, gotta just take that loss and move on and dont really think about it too hard, dbd is what it is.
Yeah, after the match I thought of about 2-3 thing I could have done differently. Like baiting a flashlight save a little more, or not getting so tilted. I just hated the fact that I had to sweat my ass off just to get some downs. I wasn't even upset until i seen 1 guy was streaming and just being disrespectful, I thought I did pretty well considering the situation

The "counterplay" is to learn that slugging doesn't work and adjust accordingly.

There's not a problem with Soul Guard being able to indefinitely pick up survivors - it's a version of what I've been asking No Mither to change to since it was added to the game. The perk isn't toxic (even if BHVR's own toxicity in not addressing SWFs being an extra set of perk slots is) but the idiocy of pretending you had to slug is blatant in its toxicity.
My choices were either go after 1, injure them, down them, spend 2 minutes fending off the other 2-3 who are trying to flashlight save as if their life depended on it, all while staying close to the survivor who can get themselves up at anytime, or slug 1 at a time. I'm sorry but if slugging in that particular moment is toxic then I guess I'm toxic.
-
@Mr_K said:
I see many missing the point. Soul Guard is just the catalyst. Nothing is wrong with the perk in general just that the survivors are capable of picking themselves up indefinitely in this situation.
The survivors are in a group on coms. They go down in the open or jump in lockers where their buddies can flashlight save. Three slugs does not mean they all have 30s timers. Its going to vary. Whichever one is able will stand up and get the save. All while this goes on, one survivor is cranking away at the gens.
This just shows how toxic some people are in this game. If the killer had lightborn or some other perk to prevent this, they would of done the gens and left.
Thank you! I'm not sure why people think I want SG nerfed. I simply asked for ways to play against survivors who have the ability to get up whenever they want.
-
I agree with a comment above. If doing totems is such a hinderance to your team, either play with friends, bring a map (which is the best counter to totems imo), bring a perk, or just simply don't play. The action of doing totems is not that big of an issue, if you can search a chest, search for ruin, undying and devour then you can search for a few more totems. The second you see they have NOED, if you have no idea where the totem is, then just leave. Why go for a rescue when your exposed just to complain that you got downed. We all know the regression to progression ratio is severely in favor of survivors, so you doing some totems will not hinder you to the point of you losing the game.
Also, you can literally do 3-4 totems and leave 1-2 so you have an idea where NOED will spawn. But I guess people just want to complain.

That's a good point.
Op if you had all 3 slugged why not just pick them up?
When I had 3 slugged one of them would 99 their recover meter and get up at the last second to flashlight me, or the injured surv would be there to flashlight. I could go after the injured without all 3 getting up and repeating everything all over again. They would all get down in open areas preventing me from facing a wall or obstacle

Why would someone get banned for a community created action?
-
Need more info. Which killer were you playing/like to play. Add ons, perks. Do you have good teachables? Do you like to play aggressively?
You can only learn from your mistakes and play style, so you have to analyze what you do and try to counter it next time.
-
No, you did not camp. It's their fault for hovering around the basement while you were still around, people get into chases around a hooked person and want to call you a camper because they can't save them. You did nothing wrong, (expect maybe running deerstalker).
jk (:

I feel you, a lot of people are getting rid of BBQ because of the auras. I don't think they really thought about the players who have lower graphic settings or discolored monitors. I have to squint sometimes to distinguish whats what.

NOED is a terrible perk for new killers as it creates bad habits.
I'd recommend new players to buy leatherface and the pig for BBQ and chilli and surveillance.
Hex Ruin and Surveillance is a great combo to help with knowing which gens the killer should pressure.
Whispers is a great perk for tracking.
Currently BBQ and Chilli is kinda useless due to new the auras, but it's great for grinding out blood points.
A build you can use with most killers are BBQ, Whispers, Surveillance and Hex Ruin.
Which is your opinion, I'm not here to have a NOED debate. The OP asked for baby killer builds and I gave them one.
-
I'll guess you just played a game where you got DS'd and they escaped lmao

Thrilling Tremors, Pop, Overcharge, and Play with your food.
I mainly use his ability to find where other players are i.e the reveal. I stalk when it's given, don't be too greedy and you'll be rewarded plenty.

Survivor - Tapp
When I first played this game he was the first DLC character I bought so he holds a special place in my heart.
Killer- Doctor Main
I've always loved the doctor through all the patches he's been through. He's my go to whenever I have a bad day and want to blow off some steam.
-
Well rounded build and killer for people just starting
Trapper - NOED, Sloppy Butcher, Whispers/Bitter Murmur, Brutal Str. (If you don't have whispers at least tier 3 just use Bitter Murmur)
(Ignore what people say about NOED, since you're just starting off)
-
I started with my man Tapp so I'll end it with my man Tapp.
Spine Chill
Det. Hunch/Tenacity
Kindred
Hope
-
People are still having the NOED debate? Sheesh, run Small Game or Det. Hunch and call it a day. I'm a rank 1 Survivor and Killer, I typically run NOED if I'm running a meme build but 9/10 games against Red rank survivors, the bones get done (Even when I don't run it) so if you're dying to NOED then who's fault is it other than your own?
-
The terror radius will move to the new Obsession.
-
It would have to be a result of Add ons. If your ping was bad enough to where your power is coming back noticeably slower, than I'm almost certain you would have just disconnected from an internet issue.
-
Because they want a reaction, like this post. They have won, and you let them but at what cost?

Woah, that's a spooky triple post. Yeah I guess that makes sense, but I don't think it's really Freddy's fault but a lot of people are wanting Freddy nerfs because he's strong and popular.
Lol. I've no idea why it posted 3 times. Feel free to delete them if you can. Yes, a Freddy was nerfed before because he was very powerful, he is in a good place right now, people always want a killer nerfed when they have difficulty facing them. Pre nerf Freddy was an absolute monster.
-
I mean, it's the endgame. As a survivor you're suppose to feel pressure and tension, you're trying to survive while a killer is on your tail. Were you around when hatch stand-offs were a thing? My god the tension was absolutely more intense. They added the closing of the hatch to prevent stand-offs and start the end game.
-
You said yourself that we all play this game to have fun, just because one thing isn't fun for you doesn't mean it isn't for the other. Maybe securing that one kill is in fact fun for them. At the end of the day it technically is easier to 3v1 there is no debate about that. Whether the man taken out was tunneled or not, a 3v1 is always easier than a 4v1.
When I play killer I don't tunnel unless certain conditions are met, but to the ones that do take the easy way out it's almost always a certain victory. You said you were aware that "tunneling" isn't considered -insert bad word- by BHVR, it may be frowned upon by the community but just because it's not fun for you why should the killer not be rewarded for doing his job? Which is killing.
"It’d derank killers into appropriate brackets until they learn how to play the game properly."
The only proper way to play this game is by not using exploits, hacks, or glitches that give an unfair advantage to the game. You not only want the killer to not receive bloodpoints for hooks, but you want them Deranked as well? I'm sorry but that shouldn't be a thing.

Im to lazy to report it properly but to get people informed that it exists so that some individual who cares enough will take action is the main goal
I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not but this is a problem you discovered, just because you posted it once on the forums does not mean it won't get buried underneath hundreds of other posts. If you're complaining about an issue that you discovered you should do your part for the community and submit it in the proper section the correct way so that it does get fixed.
