  • DS is still used in tournaments as a backup anti-tunnel perk. OTR literally can't be countered because it provides 80 seconds of guaranteed extra health state (and unlike DS can be used twice.) It's quite obvious that the survivor meta hasn't received nearly the same treatment as the killer perk meta over the years as evidenced by what happened to Ruin, Pop, Thana, and now Eruption.

Title (accidently hit enter which sent this post, so Im having to edit it).

Everyone is pretty much overreacting over the Eruption nerf.

Dont get me wrong, I hated Eruption, I think it got nerfed a bit too much, but like Ive seen several posts of "they will gut all of the Killer perks and we wont have anything in 2 weeks" or some dumb stuff... calm down... I think BHVR is pretty disconnected from their community but it's not that bad.

The reason so many killer mains are annoyed is because Behavior has established a pattern of nerfing the meta killer regression perk to the ground (see Ruin, Pop, Thana, now Eruption) while the meta survivor perks have been lightly touched and mainly stayed viable.

  • @Xendritch said:

The level of victimhood mentality in this thread is too damn high.

Tell me why is it that Hex:Ruin, Pop, Thana, and now Eruption were nerfed to the point of uselessness while the longtime meta survivor perks like DH, Sprint Burst, DS, Adrenaline, Unbreakable, and Deliverance have been lightly touched at most and are still meta?

  • @Sadako_Best_Girl said:

Oh it's that time of the year where people cry endlessly because they nerfed their favorite toy. Boo hoo.

Easy for survivor mains to say when the hardest nerfs they get are slight adjustments to DH and DS that don't even knock them out of the meta.

  • @lagosta said:

Troll bait or are you so absorbed into the role that you can not remember that survivor perks got gutted too in the meta shake too?

Name one survivor meta perk that was gutted to the ground. Most old meta survivor perks were left the same but just dethroned by even stronger perks like Circle of Healing and Off The Record. DS was the only one that had serious attempts at nerfing but even it is still viable in tournament meta as a secondary anti-tunneling perk.

Pain res and dms take 2 perk slot and are still weaker combined than eruption. They can be easily countered so they don't need any nerfs in fact both perks were nerfed last summer. Only reason to nerf them is their popularity I quess.

Exactly, that's why Pain Res will be nerfed. The most popular regression perk is always next on Behavior's chopping block.

Look, it's clear you're only capable of hearing what is of your convenience, so this is the last time I will attempt to engage in an argument with you.

Old Iron Will was meta with self-reported usage peaking at 31%, comparable to today's DH and WoO. Now it has a 4.6% usage. It was really strong and versatile in a chase.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/39A1IEE6C65A/image.png

Current Off The Record has usage around 10%, not even in the top 10 most used survivor perks, and you call it an Upgrade.

According to the devs (see image below), Self-Care was the third most used perk BEFORE CIRCLE OF HEALING NERF.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/SMDK04JOJFS8/image.png

But according to you and your anecdotal evidence, survivors were upgraded instead, despite the kill rate going up by 10% across the board after the meta change, as confirmed by the devs.

So I think I found my answer, you're irreducible. Have a great Saturday.

Use rates are not a direct indicator of what is currently meta. Self care was already considered a mediocre perk and part of a long dead meta by the time Circle of Healing rolled around, the use rates only indicate that many players are not aware of the current meta. keep in mind Off The Record was weak for a long time until the massive buff so many players have likely not adapted. Look at any current tier list (example below) and you'll find Off The Record in S-tier because it combines DS, Iron Will, and Borrowed Time into one perk, and its frequent usage in tournaments reflects its position in the meta.

DS, Iron Will, and Self Care were gutted. Spine Chill is a husk of what it was. Botany Knowledge and Calm Spirit also took a hit despite being niche.

Also, Off the Record is overrated. It gives itself away immediately, is anti-synergistic with DH, and deactivates in the end game. No wonder why Adrenaline is so popular RN.

"Gutted to the ground" implies that they are essentially useless. As I just said DS is still viable in tournament meta. Iron Will and Self Care were just replaced by the stronger Off The Record and Circle of Healing. Spine Chill was never super meta compared to the other perks mentioned previously that have barely changed.. Botany knowledge and Calm Spirit were never meta so irrelevant to this discussion. Off The Record is so strong because it's an anti-tunneling perk that fills the role of old DS while being REUSABLE unlike the old DS AND lasting longer. It not lasting into the end game doesn't make it any less meta. Point is none of the perks you mentioned were truly destroyed like killer perks such as Hex:Ruin, Pop, Thana, and now Eruption.

Uh, no. Survivors have had perks gutted as well. Eruption deserves the nerf. Definitely one of the most broken perks that has been added to dbd. I have no idea how this perk made it to the live version of the game.

And yet the survivor perk meta has barely changed over the years. While meta killer perks like Ruin, Pop, and Thana got nerfed to the ground the old meta survivor perks of Dead Hard, Sprint Burst, Adrenaline, Unbreakable, Deliverance, and even Decisive Strike are all still viable in tournament meta. The old meta survivor perks that aren't still used weren't so much nerfed to the ground but replaced by even better perks like Circle of Healing (replaces Self Care) and Off The Record (replaces Iron Will and is DS on steroids.) I don't understand how people don't notice this.

I’m a hard killer main, but we can’t ignore that many survivor perked got dusted. Spine chill, self care, OG DH, MoM, iron will.. I’m all for killer love, but survivors have gotten the treatment too.

Bruh none of those perks got nerfed to the ground. Most of them just stayed the same and got dethroned by even better perks like Off The Record and Circle of Healing. Spine Chill and MoM are still usable and new DH is still meta.

That's not even true though that's a biased opinion I've been here since the start and I've saw way worse is all I was getting at this really is a chill game these days and I used to have to sweat for kills, I don't use COH either I've been on reactive healing and a medkit lately it's actually a lot better than people give it credit for, I love off the meta builds

Sure the basic mechanics of the game have been improved for killer but are you seriously going to make the claim that the survivor perk meta has been shaken up anywhere near as much as the killer perk meta over the years? Doesn't Hex:Ruin and Pop getting nerfed to the ground ring a bell? Eruption is the latest such victim. Can you recall any survivor meta perk getting nerfed that hard? Even decisive strike is still viable in the meta as a backup second chance perk.

    Would you kindly be quiet?

I was going to mess with that and now you went and pre-nerfed it.

I'm sorry but it would have happened with me or without me. It's just the pattern of dbd balance that whatever the strongest killer regression perk is gets nerfed to the ground while the survivor perk meta remains unchanged.

  • Woah hold on there buddy, this is dbd we don't nerf any meta perks to the ground unless they're for killer.

  • @The_Krapper said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3341990#Comment_3341990

I already don't use those perks aside from adrenaline from time to time lol but ok pal

I also forgot to mention Circle of Healing for good measure. Either way the point is that the killer meta is constantly targeted by Behavior's nerfs while the meta survivor perks are barely touched. That's where the complaints come from.

  • @Veinslay said:

Does anyone else think that BHVR is heavily biased towards survivor players???

This has been a long-time accusation that sparks much debate in the community. I think one thing is self-evident. Behavior places WAY more emphasis on nerfing the meta killer perks over meta survivor perks. Just look at how little the survivor meta has shifted over time compared to the killer meta starting with the old Hex:Ruin.

  • @The_Krapper said:

The fact that the community is up in arms and acting like they can't live without it makes me happy it's getting nerfed, when you have to rely on a perk every game thats a skill issue if you cant play without it , the killer role is still in the best place it's ever been out of the entire existence of this game and nobody can prove otherwise whenever you go back a couple years and you could have two survivors with BNP that actually popped gens in like 10 secs each then the other two with insta heals that could run up as soon as you downed someone and pick them up to full health from dead and restart everything from scratch people don't realize that anyone that was here before has dealt with way worse conditions and most of us are thankful for the amount of changes over the years that have made it easier to play killer, instead of being old trapper with all your traps and hooks sabo'd in the beginning of the game and having nothing but basement the WHOLE game hopefully being lucky enough to have iron grasp on so you have a chance.

Ok, now play survivor without ever using Dead Hard, Sprint Burst, Off The Record, Adrenaline, Unbreakable, or Deliverance. If not it's a skill issue because you aren't playing without crutch meta perks.

  • @Veinslay said:

The only people that will be affected by the Eruption nerf are baby killers that were crutching hard on it and will have to switch to Deadlock or Jolt. The REAL killer mains won't even notice this nerf!

Correction: Only weaker low-tier m1 killers will be affected as strong killers like Nurses, Spirit, and Blight barely even need regression perks. Everyone's just going to start using pain res until it gets nerfed as well.

  • @kingcarl2012 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/364218/pain-res-will-be-the-next-nerfed-regression-perk

Gotta say its gonna be COB and Overcharge, because they will get complained about more as Brutal strength/Lethal Pursuer replaces Eruption in 3 gen bulds

I think a case could be made for an increase in popularity of Brutal Strength since pallet kicking may become more important with the Any Means Necessary buff. That being said gen kicking builds will no longer benefit from a strong Eruption so I predict that Pain Res+Dead Man's Switch will become more popular as it basically achieves the same effect.

  • @HugTechLover said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3341914#Comment_3341914

Pop got smacked, and we did fine. Eruption is getting smacked. Again, we will be just fine. There will always be a meta.

We did fine because we moved on to stronger regression perks and Pop was abandoned. All OP is saying is that Eruption will likewise be abandoned.

  • @Nazzzak said:

Doubt it. Pain Res has a counter, that's why no one complains about it.

Combined with Dead Man's Switch it basically produces the same effect that Behavior says Eruption was nerfed for, which is that it disadvantages survivors that aren't in swf on comms because they don't know when the downed survivor will be hooked. It'll be used by every killer now until it inevitably gets nerfed like every other meta regression perk.

Tunnel and camp = ruin a game

    Tbag = being an ass

    Mind changed

Woah hold on there the mind changing hasn't occurred yet so don't get ahead of yourself, anyways both contribute to the toxicity of the game so somebody that tbags at the exit gates has no right to complain about getting facecamped or tunneled which are the killer equivalents in toxicity save for maybe bringing Moris

    Winters party starters

Part of why I mentioned Bloodhunts is that the Bloodhunts in this year have been pretty subpar compared to previous years so I was hoping for another one, but maybe that's wishful thinking.

  • Sorry we wanted a decent way to slow the game down besides Pop Goes the Weasel or stacking perks like CI and Surge, also Ruin Undying is nowhere near as bad as the old ruin was. The current ruin can be countered by just not getting off the gen.

    It merges two accounts.

it doesn’t merge platform specific content or licenses like Nightmare on Elmstreet for Switch.

character Progression will take the highest one (prestige) but I think it should merge items and addons

Wow, I've got to hand it to Behavior, I never expected to ever see fully merged cross progression. If it does show up on console (which it sounds like it very well might) I gotta give them props.

  • @Mooks said:

You can combine one steam account with one stadia account. Switch will be included shortly.

    @Gay Myers (Luzi) said:

It is currently only possible between Stadia and Steam.

Yeah I knew that but I figured since it sounded like Behavior has plans to do it for console it'd be worth asking how it works. So does it actually COMBINE two accounts or can it only carry over one account?

    1. Hag cause heart attack fuel
    2. Spirit because almost impossible to counter
    3. Trapper for similar reasons to Hag, I hate looking down

  • @SCP_FOR_DBD said:

As a Ghost Face main I could not be happier to get chaotic neutral.

Yeah, thought it was fitting since Ghost Face players can either be chill or be toxic and tbag survivors. It's a strong killer that can also BM, but most ghostfaces only BM survivors that deserve it.

Unsure why basement Bubba is evil :(

When I get insidious camped by Bubba, I respect it completely. What else are you going to do with Insidious? lol

It's generally a playstyle used by trolls because it's the best way to subtract fun from survivors. You actually sacrifice bloodpoints and score by using a camping playstyle. Also most basement bubbas throw Moris on top of it. Not that I don't play basement bubba...

  • @Zarr0ch said:

Can’t stop moaning can you people. One thing gets fixed then straight to the next. What about the killer sided maps? What’s that? You don’t care about those ones do you.

As soon as you get your way and survivors are all dead in 5mins or less you’ll be back here crying about queue times as they all stop playing

The only maps that are really bad for survivors are Shelter Woods and Hawkins, but they're still way more playable as survivor than Ormond, Fractured Cowshed, or Haddonfield are for killer. Shelter Woods is large enough that survivors can still genrush and Hawkins still has some decent loops with the scaffolding.

  • @Nameless said:

While they did rework Ormond, it's still busted. They might revisit the loops etc on Ormond when they take a look at the graphics but nothing is confirmed.

Probably just luck. My games have either been "stomp or stomped." There really hasn't been an in-between.

It's the same issue I suffered for too long in Overwatch Quick Play, and that mode does use a hidden MMR system. So, I'm on the fence about how good BHVR can ultimately make their system. Especially when Blizzard has a lot more resources and experience, and a majority of their matches are still stomp or be stomped.

How come they disabled killer switching in lobbies since MMR has been canned? I thought the whole point of disabling killer switching in lobbies was for MMR. That's the main reason why I thought my matches were MMR matches.

  • @Kilmeran said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/185039/behavior-you-did-a-pretty-good-job-so-far-with-the-mmr-system

Hate to break it to you, but MMR was turned off around the 12th or 13th. They even had an in-game news alert about it. For over a week now, since crossplay launched, we've been back to the previous rank-as-matchmaker that we've always had.

No word on when MMR will make a return, as it wasn't working right and they turned it off to fix it.

So, you aren't getting MMR matches.

Huh. I guess I've just gotten lucky lol. I think MMR will benefit most players though, it's only the red ranks that will suffer.

Some killers need urgent changes and I think they are the following.

    Trapper

    Wraith

    Pig

    Clown

    Legion

    Demogorgon

and this is the situation of the current game:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/0M3AVJA668IY/my-image.png

Looks a little dated, most people think Billy got knocked down now that his addons suck, also not so sure that wraith and trapper are that low. Also Plague is a hidden diamond in the rough that nobody uses because she doesn't have much of a "cool" factor, but she's actually very strong, not much worse than Huntress. The rest of the list I agree with, there are a lot of killers that aren't very viable.

  • @pandorayr said:

I never thought devs would be create a killer worse than Legion, if play Oni or Billy is difficult for console players, just imagine playing this killer with a gamepad....a killer whose power is walk straight line because 0 mobility.

    congrats devs.

ah of course I'm going to buy this dlc because the new perks are quite useful.

Yeah, it seems like the new wave of like 5 new killers that have come out have had pretty underwhelming perks so far, but an exposed status effect for working on a gen? Now you've got my attention. Not that I'll buy it, I'll just save up shards because I don't want to encourage Behavior to keep pumping out new killers instead of fixing the game.

  • @Rivyn said:

    Chapter releases bring in money.

You'd think most of their money comes from cosmetics and rift stuff considering that the non-licensed killers can be bought with iridescent shards for free but I guess you're right. There's no money in rebalances and reworks.

  • @Thomas_Simpleton said:

How can you spend 700$ on the game? Is there even that much DLC?

All of the purple cosmetic packs cost $10, split that between two people and I could easily see it adding up to $700 if you bought like, every single cosmetic pack. Anyway that's OP's fault.

  • @Zarathos said:

Speculation but this was done because behaviour seems to have this design philosophy that every killer should have a cd. Examine nurse as prime example. Look at freddys rework with teleport cd. They probably would have an easier time doing this to spirit but since they were reworking bubba billy got moved up on the needs a cd design philosophy. I dread to imagine what wraith is going to look like. I'd argue that billy greatest strength was also his greatest weakness. The chainsaw holds the entire character together he has no other means of attack don't get me wrong its great but the saws flexibility was hard to take advantage of and as a result any changes to his saw would irreparably damages the power of this killer. As long as windows and pallets continue to exist billy will always have counterplay and putting a cd on his saw is bang out of order. Nobody in the community asked or wanted this. Behavior could have gotten a better reception if they had some form of compensation for billy but those add ons look awful. If it works don't fix it.

It sucks to take the good with the bad. A much-needed Bubba buff with a pointless Billy nerf. I guess Behavior can only do so much for killer before survivor mains complain. I mean if we really need to nerf killers why not start with the ones people actually complain about like Spirit.

  • @YaiPa said:

because it is the second proud installment of BHVR's "we're just gonna look at the add-ons". Where they say one killer is only getting an add-on change, just to get ######### bodied. At this point we can only bet on who's the third one.

Not to mention it's just a waste of time. Behavior could have spent their time fixing legion or clown but instead they devoted resources to pointlessly nerfing Billy. How disconnected can the devs possibly be from their community?

  • It was so uncalled for. Who in the hell complains about Billy? I hear plenty of complaints about other killers but Billy has been known to be balanced for a long time. The nerf was a waste of time on Behavior's part and will only alienate older killer mains even more

  • Frankly the newer killers have an edge over the older killers in terms of appearance because design got perfected over time.

  • Billy is definitely a strange killer to nerf. He's been considered strong but fair for a long time and I think everybody expected Spirit to be on the chopping block first. Not to mention a lot of old killer mains like Billy the most so it sort of alienates a lot of veteran killer players.

  • I get the same problem, it is hell coming back to this game just trying to get bloodpoints and immediately running into the worst survivors when you don't even have good perks or addons. I guess there just aren't enough red rank killers for all the red rank survivors.

  • @sulaiman said:

I dont think the new matchmaking will help. One of the balance problems is solo vs swf, and i doubt that can be fixed with a rated matchmaking at all.

Yeah it seems like most veteran players are saying matchmaking and SWF are the biggest problems with the game. I think it was Truetalent that suggested a SWF UI and bonus bloodpoints so killers can lobby dodge SWF, not sure if that's the best solution but maybe the only possible solution lol.

  • @Boosted_Dwight said:

They're working on a new system at the moment. No new news about it so far and they haven't set a date yet. :(

Shame. Hopefully there is a practical way to resolve the issue because I really don't like being constantly matched with red rank survivors that had to wait an hour to find a match.

  • There's really nothing like it. In spite of all the "pretty good job so far" moments you won't find a competitive horror game as good and dare I say balanced as dbd. And yes, I'm including that one game all about the Trapper chasing down people trash talking in voice chat.

  • Ahem EVERYTHING CLOWN CAN DO FREDDY DOES BETTER

    also no map control

  • @Huff said:

Saying "you could say the same about m1 killers such as Trapper/Clown/etc." is simply just watering it down. They actually have playstyles that come with their kits, and I feel like those killers actually have to put in some thinking to make things work for them. Not every survivor is going to be competent but the ones that are, they really make it obvious what weaknesses and strengths they have. Like Trapper, it's not just "he just places traps" and that's it. I mean yea he places traps, but you don't just go placing them around getting free survivors with them, there's a lot of pre-planning, in-chase planning, and "herding" the survivor into a tough spot. They just feel like they have to kind of work to make stuff happen, I feel like that's why it's oversimplifying it to say you could just "say the same about all m1" killers." It's just false that because their main attacks are m1 attacks, that they're automatically comparable.

And the people saying things like "anybody who says otherwise is just crying because they can't play against (killer)" like the one dude earlier in the comments honestly need to sit back and reflect a moment. It honestly just shows that they're the ones incapable of understanding the other side with their thick skulls more than anything. This is coming from somebody who is usually critical of people complaining about things being OP and will play as/against pretty much any killer and not complain. You just make yourself look like a moron when you say "anybody who disagrees with me is automatically (childish insult)." Grow up.

As for my opinion on the Freddy thing, I do think he's boring to play against. Not that I think he's impossible to win against, but as somebody said before, they all just play the same. It's always the same run to a pallet or window, have him place traps around the loops, and then just eventually have him catch up and hit you, blah blah blah. It's not exactly that it's OP or anything as I said, but it's just kind of boring when it's always the same thing. On top of that, as I said before the other m1 killers I feel kind of have to do some setup or work to make their powers useful. With Freddy, it feels like he just kind of has practically everything he needs and doesn't really have to do much for it. The survivors just automatically get put to sleep, you have a practically unlimited range teleport, you can rapidfire place snares without consequence, and to top it all off he has fairly common addons that give him free slowdown that, once again, he doesn't really have to work for because it just happens automatically.

I used to give Nurse a lot of trash before she got reworked, and still some after, but I've started to fall out of the Nurse hating, because she doesn't necessarily have as easy of a time as she did before. The reason I hated playing against her was because against a Nurse that was at all decent, it didn't really matter if you were good or not. She had the classic "omega blink," the equally classic "5 blink Nurse," etc. Especially if she ran other strong things like the old Ruin, it was just a complete feeling of "okay well, guess I'll just kind of let this happen," because there wasn't really anything you could do against it. It was just killer on EZ mode. I don't necessarily think Freddy is as bad as Nurse was before, but after she got hamstrung (and rightfully so) it's just kind of made it that much more obvious how "EZ mode" Freddy is.

Once again, don't try to strawman this whole comment with the typical "just git gud if you can't play against him." As I state above, that's not what I'm saying at all. I just think there's some validity to people calling him boring. If you like playing against Freddy, I can respect that, but I don't understand why people can't just have their opinion on whether or not they think a killer is even boring. To criticize that is pretty sad.

Yeah I agree with most of what you said, I just compared Freddy to other m1 killers in that I think it's unfair Freddy gets a disproportionately large amount of criticism for being "boring" when there are other killers I would argue are more boring, but get overlooked because they're not strong like Freddy is. I don't have a problem with people having the opinion of thinking Freddy is boring, but most of the time when people complain about how boring Freddy is they also say that because he has a low skill floor for a high-tier killer he deserves to get nerfed, which I disagree with. Not every high-tier killer needs to have some weird movement mechanic or an instadown.
