are going to be META for killer. I main killer but today I was checking out the 1 boon totem that is available and found that if 3 or more people have the perk, a survivor can pretty much get to any part of the map without leaving any tracks, especially some of the smaller maps.

What this means IMO is killers will tunnel a kill or two and bring in NOED because there are going to be totems left at the end of the match. No way out, Bitter Murmer, Devour and NOED. maybe throw in Remember for ... who knows what but maybe. I really suck at survivor and was able to get out almost every game and had a few killers DC which I don't normally see when I play survivor.

The game seems to be strangely survivor biased. Not sure if I am killer biased but it's definitely starting to feel that way. When the healing totem comes in..... lol....going to be really interesting. I have to admit, it's fun playing survivor when you don't have to worry about scratch marks.

Don't think you've played this game much if you think killers aren't already camping and tunneling and have been doing so for far longer than boon jas been around

With 5 good/average players, the killer doesn't have a marked advantage, full stop. It remains dishonest to waste people's time with that drek. Your 'logic' only works if there's only one player on the survivor side - as such, you logic isn't relevant to DBD.

16 perks versus a killer's 4, items which trend toward impacting the game more than a killer's addons, and the potential for comms which overshadow, boost, or overtly replace an additional 12+ perks? The game is only killer-sided when regarding the inexperienced.

Further, a chase will on average last 40 seconds. 80 seconds to a generator means even if the impossible happened and a downed player were immediately hooked every time, with chases starting in sequence, 4 generators would be done at minimum before anyone were at risk of dying - and all of this under the assumption that survivors haven't been on multiple generators at the same time.

The goal of a survivor's chase is to waste the killer's time for a while. The goal of a killer's chase is to not let that happen. But even if the killer gets a down every time in these impossible scenarios with actual advantage to the killer, unlike with merely eventually being assumed to gain a down per chase, they'll still fail to kill everyone.

I'm curious what your average kill is

It censors words like Youtube and kills. These are terms you could use in everyday end game chat to explain or just talk about things you saw or learned. This filter is dumb and I personally would much rather it just be gone its not doing anything. People that want to avoid any hate speech or racism, sexism, or general toxicity just turn the chat off anyway. Only thing the censor/filter does is make normal conversing harder to do

I agree that getting adept killer is harder than survivor but I didn't find it that difficult, as compared to some of the other achievements, like the kill 4 with tombstone meyers, or the achievemt that says you have to escape with only one down but requires only one down for your entire team(hardest to get in my opinion)

I play quite a bot if killer but I play more survivor if that makes a difference

Histrionics and dev bashing seem to be the most popular types of topics, these days.

I'm guessing if the devs stopped doing things like purposely trying to hide the mechanics they introduce, after "working" to "develope" them for a considerable amount of time, then start trying to prevent people from discussing those mechanics when players figure them out and reveal they were so poorly and simply designed that they obviously didn't spend more than 10 min coming up with them, then they wouldn't get so much hate thrown their way.

Or maybe if they fixed some of the bugs within a year of them being discovered (anyone knownif they ever fixed that one achievement that was supposed to require you to escape with a single down but actually required the whole team to escape with only a single down ?)

Or maybe they could test their releases for game crashing bugs in a half way competent manner so not everything gets released with bugs.

Dorsnt seem to me that the people complaining aren't justified

  • Kind of like thinking a killer for taking his knife out of you...after putting it in you in the first place

  • @Poorfu said:

First off, the plague has the extremely overpowered ability to down a survivor at INSANE distances. It requires little to no aim unlike the huntress since it can be sprayed everywhere. A good fix would be to downgrade the damage it does. So it doesn't take a couple hits from it when your down. I think that's a fair trade considering you really don't need skill to aim the projectile, again unlike the huntress which actually involves timing and perceiving where your target is going to go next.

Now the doctor is the EZ mode choice. Basically, you know where every survivor is at all times with the shock blast. Which also screws with skill checks and if you're hit enough times with it, you'll continuously scream revealing your location almost always. A good fair downgrade would be to reduce the shock blast radius. He can also completely ruin the survivor's game by using the shock ability to prevent them from ACTUALLY PLAYING THE GAME PROPERLY. Such as dropping pallets and vaulting windows. The survivor needs a fair chance to get away and with the doctor, that is completely ruined.

I understand that the killers are supposed to be OP in a sense and you're supposed to be in the feel of danger. That's the fun of it. HOWEVER, when you create killers that completely ruin the game survivor side, it becomes an annoyance and needs immediate attention. And if it doesn't get the attention it so desperately needs, the game will lose a majority of it's player base and it will be just another dead MMO. I don't want to see that.

Not even my opinions. These were major complaints I've picked up along with some of the community and I completely agree. You can't change my mind

You know the plague is easy to face if you just do one simple trick.

The killers demanded the hatch nerf, and the devs were quick to deliver. The key still can be used by the last survivor if the killer closes the hatch, and even then if the killer patrols the hatch - you won't be able to escape since there is now an animation of opening the hatch, with progress bar. So we now have an item that is usable only one trial out of ~30, probably the most useless item in the game so far.

    Wall hacks.

Hey, i was just trying to do the survivor master challenge where you have to escape through the hatch with a map and its really hard to do the regular way, as i've tried for a bit. so me and my friend said, "whatever, lets just do the key way" and he grabbed a key and we let some randoms know who were okay with it and we tried it and hatch just never spawned. We were like "what?"

We finally figured out it got changed just this patch to where hatch only spawns when one survivor is left (pretty sure, but correct me if i'm wrong). so umm are purple and iridescent keys literally useless now? its not like tons and tons of people were skipping out constantly

Well you can use them for their add-ons that let you see the killers or survivor auras

It's safe to say at this point in dbds life, it's foundation can no longer hold the weight of everything built on top of it or is being currently built. It is perhaps the sole reason this game is crumbling, why everything has come out so badly. Sure maybe it is the devs being lazy, biased and so on but It is plausible to believe that it is the foundation.

Dead by daylight needs to be remade from the ground up from scratch with the intent of it supporting 10x much more weight than it holds now. Upgrading from a little office to a skyscraper dbd deserves to be if that makes sense. Obviously this would require a lot of resources which I doubt the dbd team will get but if they announced that they were going to rebuild the foundation and halt everything else, then I would be fine with that if it meant fixing everything. I am in no a programmer or game developer but I bet that the poor foundation is at least half the reason why there's so many things wrong with this game, unrelated to balance.

P.s Don't bring NTfs into this, this has nothing to do with that, also this isn't meant to be a hate post towards the devs or bhvr either

By foundation are you referring to the stability of the game ie fixing all the bugs and issues with latency, or are you referring to the number of different killers and Perks that are balanced poorly?

Because it's currently a very effective strategy to win. Same reason people camp the hook right off the start if they don't DC. The DC just makes it all the more effective

Do you have any evidence to support your direct accusation that Devs or Mods are deliberately trying to hide from the community other instances of this, of which there has been this ONE that they have not "hidden" in your apparent view and thinking?

The original (and only) poster's thread that started all this, and is the ONLY one that has made the claim his PS4 was bricked by "hackers" via DBD is still up and has not been "hidden" of anything.

The second thread started by another poster telling people to "stop playing DBD if you dont disable Crosswire, or your console will get bricked" is also still up, under that other authors name.

Both of those threads, and this one, have certain posters of note that seem to be very interested in fanning the flames that this is a "real and dangerous possibility" based on ONE poster's unsubstantiated claim, and there being no other mention of bricking via that means either here or on the tech support board.

If your asking if there is evidence that they have acted to hide information from these forums I'm not entirely sure if I can answer that question without breaking forum rules.

I had been temporarily banned from the forums for simply telling other people that the information that was bring hidden was not something we were allowed to discuss. I was also criticizing the devs but the mod indicated that wasn't against the rules.

If you had been on the forums the last couple of months you may be aware of what they were hiding. Did that answer your question?

The camping counter is wrong as it's only countered by SWF.

Non SWF will have to come check the hook, see that the killer is camping and then decide individually to do gens. All survivors will loose 1 minute doing this. So atm there is no counter.

As well, tunneling has no counter against killers that are efficient in chases.

Even with swfs you can't do much against it, you come across the Bubba with corrupt and noed and your basically guaranteed that he gets a 2k. The first guy gets hooked, if he has kindred and the rest of the team pays attention then your looking at a 2k. No comms or no kindred and someone's going for the save so that's gonna end in 3 or 4ks easy.

Best case scenario once the camp starts is you get 3 gens done and you loose only one more survivor before two escape

I mean, is it even possible now? With the escape based matchmaking every time you die - your MMR drops. Starting with a certain point you will get survivors which will make it impossible for you to escape without the hatch (which doesn't give you much MMR anyway). And with every new death caused by potato teammates your MMR will go even lower and you will die more, walking the vicious cycle. So how can you escape this hell? Can you do anything, or is your account done after dying too many times in a row?

Why don't any solo players even consider sending friend requests to anybody that they play with that isn't xomplete garbage. Eventually you will have a list of people large enough that you will have one or two people to play woth anytime you want to play dbd

Bubba will get 2 kills only if he quickly catches first survivor. If survivor is good at looping and lucky, there is a high probability that this will not happen.

Also, in a full SWF with a good build of perks, there is a chance not to give him more than 1 kill, even with an early fall.

Rarely we even managed to escape the four of us, bodyblocking hook, preventing him from hanging survivor at the end. Or using a combination of Unbreakable, Soul Guard, DS and BT. Or with Deliverance, if survivor is on hook close to the gate.

But in general, if killer is experienced, in most matches on camping Bubba - yes, he is guaranteed to get 2 kills. Only strong SWF will have a chance to escape in three. However, I don't play that way, because I find this style of play boring. But I'm not surprised that there are more of them. Many killers are too annoyed with unequal chances in matches between experienced players.

Once again you seem to be trying to disagree by your response but your words all seem to be in agreement about how it's damn near impossible to stop a camping Bubba, unless he can't actually catch a survivor in the first place I'll give you that one. You can't camp if you can't first down someone.

So I've got to ask why do you seem so adverse to just saying camping is a very good strategy and a very easy one too?

You are not immune while unhooking, but the survivor that is being unhooked is. We are talking about saving a camped survivor, and it's more than possible. No one said anything about saving the unhooker.

Chainsaw equalls instadown. So your going down even before you get to the hook becuase Bubba is faster than you and also sitting right there. If Bubba feels like letting you get to the hook for the fun of it your downed. And if youbdont have bt so is the guy you saved becuase that immunity ends the second your free and that chainsaw doesnt

Camping allows to get a certain result with less effort. But this result is far from always a victory.

In general, there are several typical situations that make camping profitable or unprofitable for the overall victory. The task of smart survivors is to make the killer think that camping is not profitable and will lead to defeat. I don't want to describe these situations now (eng is not my native language, it's difficult for me to write a lot in it), any experienced players knows them. Some killers will continue to do this anyway, because they don't care about a global victory, but this will induce other killers to leave the hook.

In particular, I often use patrolling or even camping as a means to lure other survivors out of safety loops (not for Bubba). Because in strong loops - each hit against a skilled survivor can take a long time. So, unless you're a killer who can ignore loops (like Nurse) if playing only with chases on loops, you're just going to lose the match. And survivors run to them at the first opportunity. But if I have a survivor on the hook, why should I make it easier for them to play and play by their rules, in favorable conditions? I have the initiative, it is they who should think how to save survivor, not me to facilitate their task. So I am very likely to take opportunity to give a easy hit to the rescuer. This is one of the indicators of a smart killer. He tries to put survivors in a situation where a hit can be given more quickly and with less effort.

If the killer is Bubba and he only plays from camp, and survivors have enough information about it and are not foolish - he loses, unless first survivor was caught too early. If he was downed quickly, survivors still can get two escapes if they play cohesive.

Your best case scenario for the survivors against a camping Bubba is 2 dead. Are you trying to say that a strangey that all but guarantees a tie is nit a very good strategy?

    >If you think it's not a winning strategy ask yourself why it's so prevalent?

Because sometimes killers get tired of sweating, and they also want to play casual and easy, and still win while not even trying hard. Like survivors do it.

Your response seems to indicate that you disagree and that you l don't think camping is a good strategy, but your words all seem to admit how easy it is to win with camping. Which would indicate that you agree with camping being a good strategy.

    Win:

    3k with Merciless Killer

    3k with Ruthless Killer

    3k with Brutal Killer

    3k with Entity Displeased

    Going even with survivor:

2k with Brutal Killer (or Ruthless if this is even a thing)

    Lost

    2k with Entity Displeased

    1k with Brutal Killer

    1k with Entity Displeased

4 escapes (0k) with Brutal Killer

    4 escapes with Entity Displeased

If this game were to have tournaments th above is a good formula to use to distribute points in a system. What do you think? Do you agree with these conditions?

2k 2e is a win win or tie depending on how pessimistic you want to be

3ks 1e is a good match for killer

1k 3e us a good match for survivors

    4ks is a killer blowout

    4es is a survivor blowout.

Pretty sure this is what the devs are shooting for.

Unfortunately it's been so easy to get 4ks that most feel anything less is a loss. I know one steamer I watch now and again seems to takes the view that killers gets the win at 4k and survivors get 99 percent if the the win at all gens done and 100 at the gate open weather they die or not (truetalent if your curious)

Personally I think the community would be alot less angry at the balancing if the devs just came out and stated definitively what a win was but that's not gonna happen any time soon

I mean if survivors are not bright enough to jump on gens when a killer face camps. Well, that's on them...

Any competent survivor knows gens can be slammed and out the gate faster than the dude on the hook can die.

If you could finish all gens and leave with 3 people you may have a point but 80 seconds for the first three (assuming the survivors are playing perfectly ie all on separate gens no one tries to come save) that leaves 2 gens to go gotta spend at least 10 seconds running to find a new gen which leaves 30 seconds to finish 2 gens with 3 people so that's not happening. Since Bubba is running noed corrupt and whatever else he feels like he's got plenty of time to get one more survivor, either before or after gens finish depends on his chase skill.

So that's 2 guaranteed kills. You play against someone without kindred or not a full team or any other way a survivor makes a mistake and now it's an easy 4k.

If you think it's not a winning strategy ask yourself why it's so prevalent?

It is so far from guaranteed, it's not even funny. You can just run up and unhook as survivor, and fake it out if you need to, but it's completely free because the game refuses to give the killer a grab. Have 2 or more people run at the hook, and it's pretty much guaranteed that the hooked person gets off, because one will unhook and the other will body block.

    Not if you pick Bubba.

Like I said other killers mean the survivors have a chance and that you could mess up. Pick Bubba and if you have any playtime in this game yourngonna be able to camp like a champ

The chainsaw can be baited, or otherwise they can fill the tantrum meter and then go for the safe after the swing is over. Don't forget that survivors are immune to damage while in animations and BT exists. If you wanna see how it's done - try camping against a 4-man SWF yourself, you'll see how.

Yah your not immune to the chainsaw while unhooking a survivor. Or even a regular hit.

Try facecamping with Bubba you can't really fail unless you've never played before. I'm not particularly good at killer but it's really really easy and there is nothing they can do.

I mean camping at 2 gens and 1 hook, I have nothing against that because there's really nothing else to do. The problem comes in when it's literally their first hook and no gens have popped. 10 camping leatherfaces out of 15 games where the remaining 5 matches were normal. That's a problem.

Yah but unless the devs make it so that camping isn't a near guarantee win people are going to keep using it. He'll most killers are so used to winning that they consider anything less than 4k a loss

If you camp against a SWF, they will save the camped teammate no matter what, not even playing as Bubba can protect you from the ultimate power of comms. Not to mention SWF will also manage to complete 5 gens before the camped survivor even hits the second stage. Tunneling is on the other hand the most efficient strategy in the game.

How exactly do you safe someone from a hook infront of Bubba with or without comms? Every other killer has to time a grab but Bubba swings that saw and hits everyone nearby?

are going to be META for killer.

Why tunnell when you can just camp though? It's more effective with less skill required so there isn't a chance the survivors can react

It's so damn boring though, at least with other killers you can TRY and have a chance to escape. Not with leatherface, nope as soon as you go down you might as well just go make some food or something. Possibly the worst designed killer next to Legion and Trickster.

Yah but don't worry as boring as it is killer mains will rush in to explain its a legitimate stratagey and yet somehow its also nit very good so don't worry about it and definitely don't change it becuase sometimes you just need to camp how else can you get a 4k in situations where your not already crushing the survivors

Yep, can confirm. A lot of leatherfaces recently and they usually camp from the start. Its actually hilarious lol

I can't really blame though you pretty much guarantee a win with Bubba facecamping with noed and insidious if you feel like it. Decent odds they are slightly altruistic in which case almost guaranteed 4k

Slugging is a mandatory strategy for killers when going against coordinated survivors. However, slugging CAN be abused when the killer never picks anyone up and is just trying to annoy the survivors. Though Unbreakable punishes the honest slugging as well as the scummy slugging. So, maybe Unbreakable will only activate once another survivor is down as well as you? Also, No Mither is far from fine how it is, it's a terrible perk people only use for the memes.

Pretty sure you can always just camp if you want easy wins and font like slugging.

Yah and I think your going to see more and more of it as time goes on.

for whatever reason it seems people are getting more and more effected by comments online and less and less able to utilize any type of solution. Many solutions, like those being proposed to help by other people in this forum seem to get ignored unfortunately

Holy hell the amount of camping leatherfaces has SKY ROCKETED! It's sad you never see one that doesn't camp, but then again I guess that's the only thing the tubby toad is good for.

I don't think he's not good at anything else It's just that he's incredibly good at camping which in turn is very good at making you win. But don't worry I'm sure that will be addressed...........any year now.

  • Well there's your problem your crushing the people around you on the regular so that's whynyoir going against harder and harder opponents.

Remeber 2 kills is a tie, both sides played equally well. A 3 k is you doing really well and a 4k mean you destroyed them.

So your not playing against strong survivors relative to your skill level, your just so used to curb stomping your opponents that anything less than a flawless victory feels like a loss.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/288425/why-do-new-killers-think-tunneling-is-a-good-idea

Tunneling is not a bad idea at all, in fact it is quite literally the strongest possible strategy that the killer can implement, however there are very strong perks that counter this playstyle. When you hook a survivor at the beginning, it's a good idea to pressure gens near the hook and once the survivor gets unhooked you go for them again. If a teammate is getting tunneled or dead on hook survivors are much more likely to try to do stuff like take hits for them or go down to save them, etc. Tunneling actually makes teams more altruistic which slows down gen repairs while also giving you the ability to get one survivor out early, and going against 3 survivors versus 4 is a big deal. If you can get one survivor out before the 4th gen pops (which is super easy) then you basically just win the game, securing at least a 3k. I do a less intense version of this strat, because whenever tunneling is used (even though it's not a toxic playstyle, it's a tactical one) survivors tend to cry and insult the killer for doing something smart. What I do is I alternate hooking 2 or 3 survivors, while ignoring two or one of them, because if you try to get all 4 survivors on death hook before killing anybody then you are most likely going to lose.

Just an FYI, facecamping / tunneling are regularly used in DbD tournaments, where if the literal best killers in the world do not facecamp / tunnel they instantly lose. It's just how the game is.

I don't think tunneling is the best strat I think camping has it beaten out, definitely a good strategy though either way

I would rather engage in a few long chases and get 1 or 2 kills than spread out hooks even while trying to keep gens regressing and get a 0k.

That's kind of his point if you want to try hard to get kills you will play against other players who also try hard.

If you get more kills expect your opponents to be better at not getting killed.

If you want to play for fun your opponents will also play for fun.

Who said I don't have empathy for him?

Where did I attack Pulsar? I just suggested what he could do to make it easier on himself instead of arguing with people like that. That is empathy actually.

Unless giving a suggestion is considered personal attack these days.

And please stop talking about empathy when you call people idiots just for doing what I did.

Most people think having empathy means coming to say therly are sorry as opposed to offering any form of help solving the problem which is seen often as mean for some reason.

mainly perks that are never used being reworked. killers getting buffs. some overall health of the game buffs.

Your gonna have to explain how buffing killers constitutes balancing the game. Or atleast why otherwise you woukd say the game is balanced if the survivors moved at one fifth current speed and had to do 20 gens a match

I won't beat around the bush. I've hit red ranks on Hag/Plague and I've hit purple with GF/Legion/Oni. I'm a sporting guy so I didn't tunnel before and I don't intend to start now. I usually would let 1-2 people go if someone DC'd or rage quit on the first gen. I'm not a face camper. I like to play the game for fun. With that in mind, since the MMR rework I have had less than 10 total kills as any killer. I'm the lowest visible rank I can be and I'm pretty sure all I play every game are people that used to be red ranks. I've seen /more/ legacy prestige skins and 360 > moon walk plays than ever before. I'm not sure what's happening, but by now it should have levelled me out. I'll take the L. I know that I'm not a great killer. However, unless I absolutely sweat my ass off and proxy camp with hook traps and play like a complete piece of ######### on Hag, I can't get any kills on pretty much anyone anymore. I don't enjoy this. I'm sure the survivors I play against aren't having fun because I'm either being too grimy on Hag or just not even remotely challenging on anyone else.

What is the new MMR supposed to do? I feel like I'm ready to give up playing killer altogether. Forever. The new MMR system feels terrible from my perspective.

    inb4 gitgud

Yah that's probably because the metrics being used ti determine skill level are not very good so people are getting pushed up way above there actuakl skill just by playing alot

Bad Press.... about a joke on a character from a franchise that pretty much fueled the start of the BDSM Trend and had ALOT of sexual innuendos???? yeaah ok <_<

I'm not saying they got bad press.

    The original comment was

"but if its because people complained about it because maybe its too sexual or whatever then im really disapointed."

So if it was because of complaints can you really blame 5hem for protecting from bad press or being canceled?

  • @Gamedozer7 said:

Seriously its so boring and turn chases in to no skill situations for both sides. When I'm playing killer I see survivors w key all the time which means I have to w key after them which takes no skill and when they get to a loop they can't loop normally because they didn't learn because they just w most matches.

I just don't get it chases are the best part and they show off your skill as a killer/survivor but with this w key meta most my chases become mindless running sims.

Is there anyway to make w key less effective and bring some of the fun back to chases?

They could do something where bloodlust charges really fast when line of sight is maintained and diminishes very quickly when broken maybe?

I feel like no one is really working on game balance. I feel like every dev is working on the next killers. and then fixing those killers after release. And then when those things are either fixed or ignored, then the next killer comes around. It feels like the devs are given zero time to actually look at old perks/kilers. I feel like perks/killers/the game in general should be getting adjustments more often than releasing killers, but I feel like these little changes to these things are so rare. I think the last major change was giving wraith windstorm baseline, and that was some time ago. I wouldn't assume that took that much time.

Anyways, I would just love to see more changes like what they did with the wraith, far more often, but I fear that they are just working on killers/survivors only and nothing else.

Problem is what does balance mean? Average of 2ks 2 escapes or do you consider 4k a win for killer everything else a loss? If so balanced means half the matches should end with 0 escapes
