This is not great responce to feedback. And no, that's not why, it is simply bloated debuff, overcomplicated perk but also at the same time it doesn't rly help much the killer thanks to how complicated and specific it is.

It does help the killer ever heard of deadlock? Pair it with deadlock shouldn’t be too bad

  • @Leon_Loves_Cheryl said:

You shouldn't need to kick the same gen more than 8 times to win the game. It's perfectly balanced in my opinion. If you're struggling with the 8 damage limit, the issue isn't the limit, it's your lack of ability to win chases efficiently.

I will say, however, that they should have compensated this change with a heal limit to survivors (maybe maximum of four heals per survivor) so that they cannot infinitely extend the game either.

The thing is onryo is bad in chases I hit and run so for you to say killer has to chase and down someone immediately it’s not always a guaranteed thing because the amount of pallets and loops it wastes time so that’s why I hit and run and check on gens

  • @SummerBBQDwight said:

This does not sound good or fun or usefull, more like annoying perk that will almost never do anything usefull for you. F tier as well.

Why because gen rushing survivors cry about this idea?? lol

Chucky & Skull Merchant also been nerfed several times, have they become balanced?

Skull Merchant was needed lol. But as for Chucky they nerfed his scamper really bad

Exactly I still never get why after its nerf people still find it survivor sided, I as a survivor main hate when survivors bring it, map so easy to 3 gen and some of the pallets may as well not exist and the L and T walls are so damn awful. All these damn pot holes added to boot .Let me not start about the now crap cold wind maps . Yeah wreckers too is horse crap.

Did I even mentioned Coldwind, so I don’t know why you’re bringing it up. If you’re a survivor main, then you should know that some maps are extremely survivor-sided and need better balance.

Badham for example, still has strong houses and preschool loops that make chases last forever. Meanwhile, Wrecker’s Yard got hit so hard that it barely gives survivors a chance now. Map balance should go both ways—it’s not just about what’s convenient for one side.

If you hate when survivors bring certain offerings or perks that make maps worse, then that should tell you something: maps are a huge part of balance and should be fair for both roles. No one should feel like they lost a match before it even starts just because of RNG.

i dont even boot up the game any more because i know i have to deal with pain res every match.

i dont even want to argue about it with people. especially not anyone who's going to call me a "survivor main" and accuse me of stupid ######### like wanting "my side" to be stronger.

this perk is ruining the entire game for me. i only play killer because i dont want to deal with pain res, and when i want to play survivor, i just don't play. and this is making me play killer less, because i can't bring myself to care about the game, because i'm forced to play killer all the time and i can't ever chill on survivor. because pain res is still in every single one of my matches and it's not being addressed.

i don't care what you do to pain res. but the fact that it's a button you press to put the perfect square shape into the perfect square hole with no knowledge of where the square shape is, where the square hole is, and on top of all of that it's also a 20% regression is just overwhelmingly bad. stop it. do something to it.

i don't care if it becomes a non-scourge non-token perk that deals 10% to every gen in the map. i don't care if it targets a random gen, or the closest gen, or targets the highest repaired gen within 18 meters of an injured survivor, or whatever. just do something to limit this perk.

and i'll say this upfront, i literally don't care about other players' opinions on this perk. know in advance i'm not reading the replies. this forum sucks because you cannot post anything without being called a survivor main or being accused of having an ulterior motive. you know what my ulterior motive is? i want to play dead by daylight. that's my motive. i don't play this game any more because of pain res. i'm posting this for the developers and then i'm not looking at the thread any more. i'm just straight fed up with this perk and i'm straight fed up with how people on this forum behave whenever someone says anything about one side.

this perk makes me not boot up the game any more. i'm not excited for the new killer because every match is just pushing the sisyphean generators up the pain res mountain. god forbid there's a new survivor, because you KNOW i won't enjoy the new perks because they only exist in the context of swimming upstream against pain res!

fix pain res. change it, deal with it. just do something! i don't want it to be in all of my matches any more! i'm so sick of how oppressive and good it is for how brainless it is to use!

On top of strong gen perks, survivors also have toolboxes and brand-new parts, which let them rush gens even faster. A single BNP can shave off huge chunks of a generator instantly, and even regular toolboxes let survivors speed through gens before killers can get proper pressure.

Pain Res is one of the only perks that actually slows the game down without forcing killers to camp or tunnel. If killers didn’t have it, gens would fly even faster than they already do. If you think Pain Res is too strong, what’s the alternative? Should killers just rely on kicking gens while survivors stack Prove Thyself and Hyperfocus with toolboxes?

  • @KerJuice said:

When did you guys start playing? Both Badham and Eyrie have already been nerfed. Both were shrunken in size and Eyrie was nerfed at least twice already with the god pallet removed in main, and the newer 50/50 tiles added.

If every map gets the Wrecker’s Yard treatment, playing Solo Que survivor at lower to mid levels will be brutal.

Badham has been a problem for a long time, and shrinking it didn’t suddenly make it balanced. The layout still favors survivors heavily, especially with how strong the houses and preschool structures are. Even after its changes, it’s still one of the most survivor side maps in the game.

As for Eyrie, yeah, it’s been nerfed, but it still has some of the strongest tile setups that can make certain killers struggle. The issue isn’t just about shrinking maps—it’s about making them fair for both sides. Wrecker’s Yard got hit hard, but that doesn’t mean every map should be left untouched. Some maps, like Badham, still have way too many safe loops and strong structures that don’t require much effort to play around.

Survivors in solo queue already struggle for other reasons (lack of coordination, bad teammates, etc.), but that doesn’t mean maps should stay unfairly strong. If a killer has to work twice as hard just to get downs, that’s a problem too.

  • @Xernoton said:

Survivors should remember totem spawns. That's part of their skill expression and their counterplay to hex totems.

The problem is that most totem spawns are obvious and super convenient to go to. Like they spawn right next to gens. Oh what is that? My hex totem is right next to the survivors' objective. Surely they won't cleanse it when they have to go there anyway.

Even that wouldn't be as much of an issue, if survivors didn't have such a good chance to spawn right next to a hex totem and cleanse it in the first 30 seconds of the match.

I agree that survivors should remember totem spawns as part of skill expression, but the problem is that hex totems are often placed in really bad spots. If a hex totem spawns right next to a generator, survivors will naturally find it while doing their main objective. It’s not even about totem hunting it’s just in their way.

On top of that, survivors spawning near a hex totem at the start of the match is just bad design. It removes the risk/reward of running hex perks if they can be cleansed within the first 30 seconds. Totems should be harder to find in locations and not in places where survivors are guaranteed to go. If hex perks are supposed to be high-risk, high-reward, the spawns need to support that balance instead of making them feel like a gamble

  • @Falcao said:

Dude, look at any killer or surv mission. Survs already have a lot of random goals, like opening a chest or a totem, and the killer just does his job. ez

Why because you’re a survivor main. Killers do way more than survivors do when it comes to gen rushing and keeping people injured.

  • @SummerBBQDwight said:

I am not a fan of this idea. I would rather if weak killers aren't weak you know.

Of course you can't make everyone A tier killer and someone will have to be simply weaker than the rest but it doesn't mean they have to be D tier like some of the killer we have.

Well it’s taking the devs forever to make adjustments to weak killers instead of making cosmetics and having. All these chapters in place they need to focus on the game and trying to balance things out

  • Your a Myers main your situation is different because Myers can vault windows really fast. But can’t speak on my main maybe they should do things differently for every killer in different situations pallets windows map size all of that

You are asking for a blanket nerf to survivors though, not just a buff to your killer. If your killer being weak is the problem the logical thing to ask for is a buff to your killer, not nerfing a base survivor game mechanic.

Then maybe they should make sadako more of a chase killer instead of hit and run bs

  • Some windows can be really strong like the windows on the house in the preschool map it has 3 windows and it’s highly strong

  • @crogers271 said:

Some windows are supposed to be strong. As killer you have to make a decision based off who you are playing / what perks you have whether it is worth the time to chase to a strong structure.

Going from 3 to 2 would also make perks like Bamboozle and other perks that are meant to counter stronger windows next to useless.

As killer it should depend on certain maps that too strong like the bigger the map is for weaker killers should get tunned down and that’s the problem why do you think survivors are at the highest percentage at bringing map offerings

  • @jedimaster505 said:

skill issue. you get to teleport all around the map.

That’s not my point can’t you read and comprehend? I said they should tone down the window vaulting from 3 to 2. Plus it’s not like I’m using nurses billy or spirit who have greater advantages against strong loops. Maybe you should understand things from killers perspective who are weak and there are some killers who are strong.

I would be surprised if she didn’t come in as a skin for Sadako at the very least at some point

Except for the fact that two different licenses cannot be mixed together, same reason why Vecna from Stranger Things cannot be a skin for Vecna from Dungeons & Dragons.

Even then, Kayako absolutely needs to be her own character, as Sadako and Kayako are the equivalent to Freddy and Jason over in Japan.

any ideas you have for how the killer would play or thematically operate?

    Pretty easy actually.

    • Toshio as an AI assistance to Kayako that helps her finding and detecting Survivors which allows Kayako to teleport to his location with undetectable.
    • Kayako's death rattle at it's least intense being her lullaby or part of her terror radius.
    • Kayako's sprint crawling as her special attack with her death rattle being at it's most intense when she attacks Survivors with it.

    Don’t forget her hair manipulation

  • Umm noo you can’t put a license skin on a different license character that’s not how that works. Plus kayako deserves to be her own chapter they both work very differently it wouldn’t make sense to be a skin because they both have similar appearance so why would it be a skin?

  • @Cataca said:

Hot take they ain't gonna add the grudge cause she to close to sadako

they might I’m hoping in the future

  • @WolfePhD said:

I’m not familiar with the character. How would this be different from Sadako?

Sadako Yamamura (The Ring): She was a psychic woman who was thrown into a well and left to die. Her rage and supernatural abilities created a cursed videotape that kills anyone who watches it within seven days.

Kayako Saeki (The Grudge): She was a woman who was murdered by her jealous husband along with her son, Toshio, and their cat, Mar. Their deaths created the Ju-On curse, which haunts and kills anyone who enters their house.

Sadako comes out of tvs and manifests through cursed videotapes

Kayako crawls and all 4s she makes that death rattle noise and she uses her hair to kill her victims and she also has her son toshio who is a spirit tied to kayako as well.

How would you know their skill level unless you've seen them play? Calling this person bad over and over because they have different views than you comes off as quite rude.

They're right in what they're saying, Onryo isn't very strong in chase, and usually map offerings are for maps with strong tiles for survivors that are hard to deal with as M1 killer. That's why they're complaining about map offerings. If I'm playing Nurse I don't care if they send me to Autohaven, Macmillan or even Eyrie. But as an M1 killer it's really painful and you have to really lock in to get a good result if the survivors are decent.

Thank you for understanding my point. These people don’t know what I’m talking about.

  • I think you need to comprehend what I’m saying your definitely not getting my point no one said anything about getting good or better at the game I’m specifically pointing out that some map offerings are bad for m1 killers because how it’s designed which is hard for m1 killers. If it’s nurse or blight i don’t even care but im pointing out m1 killers are weak in some maps that have strong loops and gens too spread out to the point I have to hit and run its just not enough the maps need to be reduced to a smaller size for m1 killers only. If it’s nurse or blight it should remain the same and leave as it is

  • @SharonPancakes said:

I'm sorry you're not proficient at your main, there is plenty of content available showing how strong Onryo can be when played at a high level. Maybe practice instead of insisting the game be made easier for you.

I’m very proficient at my main thank you very much I have 4250 hours on dead by daylight I am a p100 onryo main. I know all her strengths and weaknesses so you can’t sit here and tell me what I know about onryo because you don’t main her and use her your opinion is not valid. Onryo is weak in chases that’s her weakness she’s a M1 killer who hit and run. Just because she can teleport around the map doesn’t make her strong. Survivors can easily turn off her tvs by gens which kills her momentum to get from one side to the map to the other. Plus a lot of maps that I mention kills sadakos and is bad for her.

  • @SharonPancakes said:

Survivor queue has 300-400% bp incentive because the game is killer sided, stats show killers dominant at every MMR level. You bring up a handful of maps that are survivor sided and ignore the maps that aren't. You also ignore that some survivor sided maps aren't really survivor sided against certain killers. So maybe if you play a weak killer against a coordinated team on a survivor sided map occasionally the survivor may have an advantage. These poor killer posts are beyond embarrassing, reality doesn't agree with you.

Oh sweetie I have a a lot to say about weak killers. I’m a onryo main and it sucks that almost every match I’m in survivors bring the most stupid map offerings that’s horrible for sadako and I main her. The gens are too spread out and the map is either too big or the loops have crazy tiles and god windows and pallets it’s way too much. And you sound like a selfish survivor main who is not getting my point maybe you should play killer for once to see where I’m coming from. What the devs should do is nerf every freaking map and make them smaller and make it balance

  • @AmpersandUnderscore said:

Gens. Are. Not. The. Killers. Objective.

  • @Iron_Cutlass said:

Not everyone has a full 8 people to lobby up with, nor does everyone have the coordination necessary to play well on an 8-man team, people will misplay, not do Generators, run around doing nothing and waste time, it is bound to happen, and it happens a lot.

Like 50-60% of my Survivors games in 2v8 I lose because people just run around like chickens with their heads cut off because nobody wants to do a Generator, and so, we lose. Likewise, as Killer, I win a majority of my games for the same reason.

It's not fair for Killer if we dont have any offense on the side.

Killer has increased regression from kicking Generators, it isnt the best thing out there but I think people underestimate how useful it can be.

You sound like a survivor main because of what your temmates not doing that’s not answering my concern of how gen rushing is still a problem. Just because you’re doing gens doesn’t mean the rest of the 7 survivors aren’t doing gens there’s at least 4 people doing gens or less. And there’s 8 survivors so gens still fly by no matter what? Plus I’m not saying you gotta be in a 8 man swf that Involved gen rushing. I play solo on 2v8 and a lot of my teammates do gens pretty fast so I think your excuse in you or matches is not valid. Like I said killers needs more classes than to kick gens that lose 20 percent progress you can only kick gens 8 times before the entity blocks it meanwhile survivors can tap and touch gens anytime they want without no limit

Hatch spawns always prioritize spawning near the last surviving player, so the chances are actually 90% in the survivor's favor. Plus, denying the unfair hatch mechanic was actually the main reason for the 4K slug.

Not true. Hatch spawns depending the area of the map locations. It spawns either by killer or survivor depending on the area of the map each is by so that means whoever finds hatch first wins the game if killer finds it first they close the hatch and that forces survivors to try to go to the exit gates. And if survivor finds hatch first then it’s a win for survivor. Slugging it’s just a material that killer uses just because they want a 4k and want to win the game

  • @Gardhome said:

I think deleting the hatch from the game will be the best way to encourage killers to not slug 3d survivor. Because the last survivor gains a free win due to RNG, the main reason why killers slug for 4K so often.

I disagree the hatch is not a survivor sided thing it’s a 50/50 chance if the killer or survivor gets to the hatch first either the last survivor escapes with the luck of finding the hatch or the killer finding the hatch first and closing it. Hatch has nothing to do with slugging

  • @isthatmar said:

honestly, i dunno if people even care anymore, but apparently this is a legit game tactic. and it upsets me a little. im asking you all, genuinely. what do you think of this whole 'slugging' thing? personally, i'd rather see my screen say 'the entity hungers' that slug people and be lazy

    Perk Name: “Against All Odds”
“Even in the darkest moments, you refuse to let go.”

•Effect: If there are only two survivors remaining and one of you is in the dying state for more than 10/8/6 seconds, their bleed-out timer is paused as long as the other survivor is within 20/24/28 meters. The survivor in the dying state also gains the ability to fully recover without assistance if they remain within this range.

  • Agreed he’s the worst killer

  • @Rokku_Rorru said:

It literally doesnt need a nerf and is the perfect example why old dead hards complaint of "DEAD HARD FOR DISTANCE" is not a valid reason to gut the perk.

I'm so tired of this game taking away good options for survivor while keeping it in for killer in terms of Blight etc.

They literally have sprint burst that’s what’s sprint burst is for. They are running at a normal speed rate but all they have to do is press the active ability button to get speed it’s lien having sprint burst but instead your running

  • @BurnedTerrormisu said:

They have to run across the whole map to return the tape. They can't use items in that time.

    Thats the downside.

I’m talking about turning off tvs not returning tapes like if the tvs are spawn by the generators all they have to do is turn off the tv and let’s say I have tinkerer and if I try to teleport to the tv by the gen that is close to being done they’ll turn off the tv and I won’t have map wide pressure I feel like it’s unfair

so basically it would work like if it was more or devour you hit them since they tried taking a hit their already exposed and put into the dying state

I don't think the lullaby kills her stealth. It just let's the survivor know that she's approaching. Doesn't tell them from where and when she will appear. Therefore it is still very much possible to get some free hits due to being demanifested.

I believe her lullaby becomes directional at some distance, so, there is little chance to catch survivors off guard

It still kills her stealth because her lullaby notifies survivors that she is approaching that is why they should remove her lullaby period

And it was worthless on them because vaults and pallets mean more to survivors than they do to killers. No one cared about Zanshin Tactics until it got buffed.

I think your one of those who play killer and complain that you lose matches because of a perk and you want it to get nerfed.

    Wrong.

Just say your trash at chasing survivors theres no reason for it to get nerfed.

That is like saying pain res should get nerfed because it is a meta??

    Pain Res is also boring.

I want to be able to recommend it to my newbie friends without the knowledge that it'll forever hinder them from actually growing and getting better at the game, preventing them ever getting to the point they don't need it. I also would like to use it for myself in a few specific builds without actively hindering my own ability to learn the game as well.

That's the reason I want it nerfed, WoO has a paradox in it's design currently. If its primary purpose is to help new players get better at the game, it doesn't succeed in doing that, it makes them lazier and more reliant on WoO just to function. You can't learn to ride a bike if you never take the training wheels off. It's value for more experienced players is limited more towards scouting the layout of tiles early, and having an early warning for what tiles have already been used when their chase starts.

A cooldown after a fast vault doesn't impede the experienced players usage of the perk, and retains it's niche. A cooldown also DOES actually help new players learn the game, because they actually have to remember the location of vaults they saw, and they naturally mentally map out tiles and structures as they play through necessity. They still get the benefit of the perk ensuring they are able to put up a fight to a degree, but are also actually learning tiles and building a fundamental skillset that then enhances their ability to play DBD without WoO rather than hindered from doing so.

I have to disagree. I been playing dead by daylight for 5 years now and I still do not remember certain parts of maps that well for example lery's. Windows do not need a nerf that is not the problem at all if you have a issue with windows it means you are complain about your losses when you play killer. Plus windows is a good information tool for everybody to use especially if a survivor is getting chased and if they use a certain pallet that has been broken by the killer other survivors need to know which pallets are available in their area while in chase. I think you of all people need to stop complaining and just play the game. Distortion was already nerfed in a way and now windows??

  • Your

    @Xernoton said:

Overuse is a reason for a nerf. No perk should stay in the meta forever. WoO has been in there for long enough.

It's fine that it helps beginners but no perk should automate gameplay. If the cooldown came back, it would still do all the good things but you would actually need to pay some attention.

Just because it is overuse does not mean it should get nerfed. I think your one of those people who get mad that you lost the game and blame a perk for your losses and wants it to get nerfed. That is like saying pain res should get nerfed because it is specific type of meta like no.

Agreed because there should be no reason for them to complain and plus they are complaining because they are losing the game and they blame windows for their loss

WoO is OP because it provides too much value for a single perk slot, especially when compared to its cousin aura perks. Overtuned would probably be more accurate than OP, but it is certainly too strong for its metadata and lack of downside. Personally I'd just like to see it more in line with the other survivor aura perks instead of being such a clear and obvious choice.

it’s not OP at all there’s certain maps that people forget what’s there
