A map from death garden could be cool, but I don't think any of the hunters have the look that would fit Dead by Daylight. None of them look creepy enough.
@rch614 said:
Yes, even if we may only get survivors out of it. A killer using the terminator skin would be amazing, but yeah. Survivors would be easy to cobble together as opposed to designing a killer as a homage.
Alternatively we could just get skins of those scavengers and hunters.
The Terminator is the only one I think I could dig. They'd have to limit bullets to be like the Huntress's hatches, and probably put more focus on an arm blade like in the second film.
-
*sometimes, because wrong character is selected
I don't like to do it to "surprise the killer" so I think it's silly you added that specifier to the option, and didn't add other " sometimes" reasons.
I typically don't. like 95% of the time. But never to throw off the killer, the killer SHOULD have the advantage

Well don't sell them short. Spirit and Nurse can't really die because they are both ghosts. They can affect the material world, but also exist into alternate planes of reality. Onryo such as spirit can't be killed by convention or even unconventional means. Nurse is can't really be killed by convention or unconventional methods either. She probably needs to be exorcised or have her physical remains destroyed.
Hag is the weakest. She's stronger than an average human, but has to rely on her hexes and curses. As a physical being she could be killed quite easily. So could Legion, but they at least have speed and numbers on their side.
Oni is probably the absolute strongest.
I agree with you on your proposal of the Hag and legion being the weakest, but they wouldn’t be easy to kill. The entity has imbued all killers with enhanced strength and durability. That’s why Susie can toss David over her shoulder easily and doesn’t get KO’d from a pallet toss. They are all superhuman and can’t really be harmed. Just FYI.
I think Freddy is the strongest power wise, and the demogorgon or the oni would be the physically strongest.

It would make more sense for balanced landing to be a perk focusing on stopping the staggered effect of a height fall, and less about a speed boost.
-
@CronaWins said:
"Balanced Landing: No longer grants the stagger reduction while Exhausted. Balanced Landing has the additional functionality to muffle grunts from falling by 100% while not Exhausted."
Why kill the entire functionality of the perk instead of just removing the sprint?
People run Balance Landing for the stagger reduction, not the sprint. The sprint is only an added bonus.
Why can't this perk just have a single function such as perks like Iron Will?
This would still be a nerf to the perk but would still actually be useful.
Don't be dramatic, it's still a very useful perk even with the change.

Solo survivor is the most fun! :D I like it more than playing with the mics, kills the atmosphere too much

Not to mention the witch terminology used in her power ('hexes', 'catalyst'). Then again wendigos are cannibals and so is the hag, so i'd consider her a derivation of the two.
DBD is doing an AMA tomorrow at 11am Eastern US time. We should inquire about her place of origin and nationality. I don't think it's been stated, and that the wiki comment is fan supported and not coming from the game developers directly. A well done site, but it doesn't cite sources.

It's not a case of that. I personally think the cosmetics should be released for everyone to enjoy, and none should be locked behind codes- but the fact of the matter is, personal opinion doesn't come into it.
If they advertise something as exclusive, it should remain exclusive.
Our collective personal opinions dictate what the best decision is. It’s not a “this is how it is just because” scenario. If something was advertised as exclusive, and then they realized that it wasn’t fair, you make it fair. Saying you're going to do something because you already made the decision while less informed as to what the best option is doesn’t make sense.
-
this is a challenge, it’s supposed to be challenging. I only really play solo. It isn’t impossible.

Yes to both of those ideas :D

I actually love this hair and hope they don't change it, I think it's her best one so far and a lot more how I had imagined her hair being.
I just love the whole outfit looks actually ^_^ I did want it to be more accurate to the movie but with the skeleton framing I understand that they had to tailor it to the game measurements.
-
They might have it delayed a week since the perks released are supposed to reflect perks needed for the story mode they are planning to release tomorrow at 11am eastern time.
But it changes once a week.

I do! I'm roughly 60/40% for survivor/killer! ^_^

If it respawns it’s probably because they had hangman’s trick(a perk that causes hook respawns to be very fast), otherwise that hook stays away for 180 seconds like when you sabotage.

Umm, how was spirit nerfed? She got buffed multiple times since the ptb as far as i remember.
Upon her initial release people felt that she was too overpowered so they applied a bunch of nerfs which caused her to be a weak killer. They’ve been builder her up from her weakened form to make her stronger again since she wasn’t as viable a killer to play after the initial adjustments.
i won’t be surprised if they continue to buff and nerf her back and forth based on player complaints until they either find a player complaint balance they are seeking or until they realize they won’t be able to find that balance in a versus game where some people choose to play only one side and don’t understand the challenges of the other.
honestly I think people who play both sides should be the ultimate deciding factor because they get what it’s like to play they killer and deal wi5 survivors, as well as how hard it is to survive against a killer and still enjoy themselves. Both perspectives are needed because both play styles matter when it comes to finding a good balance
most anyone who only chooses one side will almost always feel they are unfairly challenged unless they are winning by their arbitrary standard of what’s fair,

I could also say the same thing for spirit players. Overcome the challenge and play other killers. Spirit is literally easy mode unless you are going against a 4 man swf.
You can say the same for ALL players. But this game feels very balanced as someone who started the game two years ago. It was hard then, but now most survivors have way more perks to build specific play styles, and killers who were super strong have been dumbed down while weak ones have been beefed up.
i play both sides, and feel that the Spirit is a challenging killer, but making her weaker is just taking away a killer who has ALREADY been considerably weakened around her release.
it just feels unnecessary. I understand that if you have trouble surviving her that it’s frustrating, but this game wouldn’t mean much if surviving was something you could always expect. There would be nothing to overcome and it would just be point farming.

Eventually it will be all killers nerfed and all the killers will go to another game and survivors can have absolutely nothing.
i Agree. Being survivor used to be way harder and they’ve made a lot of things easier for when you wanna play survivor. People used to know how to survive the Spirit and now she’s “too powerful”.
people want the game to be easier, not learn how to overcome the challenge
-
Doesn’t hurt to change it, and will certainly clarify the statuses resulting effect. I see this issue happen a lot, and only really deters/harms new players which is the last thing this game wants to do
-
That’s more common in solo, not survive with friends. If they SWF then the 3rd player how was hooked would just tell their teammate you aren’t camping and their ally would come grab them for more points and a shared experience of “winning”

No offense, but we dont need more characters to be made forcefully homosexual in media because some LGBT folks asked for it, you already have enough representation.
I think the word "forcefully" is a little dramatic. It's more like he's saying he wants this to happen simply because he wants this to happen. If the demand/interest is high enough then it might, if the demand isn't high enough then it stays ambiguous.
Claiming there is enough representation when there isn't any in DbD is you essentially saying that no representation is enough. That claim makes zero sense unless you think gay characters shouldn't be represented. Unless you mean something else?

I know I’ve been trying to play survivor for an hour and it haven’t found a game that hasn’t been cancelled yet.
It seems a lot of plays are DCing in general which is disappointing. I hope this becomes banable soon.

You are really taking things out of context. I have read everything @Derp wrote and not once did he/she say it isn't ok for someone to look like this.
It sounds like you are trying to pull words to try and create a conversation that isn't happening all so you can argue as the "good guy" in this situation.
Seriously we are talking about a video game character that has all kinds of memes that, back in early release, had visual glitches and that today (much like the Q man) has cosmetics that just don't appeal to a wide audience.
This isn't some sort of societal argument about beauty and confidence, blah blah blah. Put that energy towards correcting the actual a-hole posts online/real world.
Just because you don’t understand it, it does not mean I’m trying to stir up trouble. You may not see it as an issue, but I do.
I’m not “acting” pretentious, I just strongly feel differently than both of you have voiced and I’m adding substance to make my point,
I see it as a reflection of societal expectations pushing a specific kind of image that is to be deemed “normal”. There are SO MANY people who look different. How would you make her normal? It isn’t possible without following a specific beauty standard that isn’t shared by others.
A single character being ugly in your eyes doesn’t mean she should change, it means she isn’t a character for you to play. There are a bunch of playable characters. If you like her, keep playing with her. If you don’t like her, don’t play with her. Seeing a character who isn’t your standard of beauty doesn’t ruin the game, otherwise that’s an incredibly shallow mindset. There will always be people that you don’t find attractive, and in video game sits VERY prevalent for developers to only push those specific beauty standards and make them feel normalized.
People have every right to dress how they want, get plastic surgery if they want, etc. I support people actualizing their idea of beauty as long as they aren’t harming themselves. But I also think many different faces should be accepted as well. You don’t have to like it, but you can’t tell someone to change their face just because you don’t care for it, well you can tell then, but it once again makes a person shallow.
There are people who DO look like Nea, some of them very well might play the game, some of them might even really enjoy playing a character that looks like them. They can’t avoid the criticism of the character, but for the company to decide to change her appearance because she is deemed too ugly sends a terrible message to those women/girls who relate to her and now have to realize their own face has in a sense been removed because people didn’t want to see it. That’s messed up. And it doesn’t have to happen, and it shouldn’t.
just don’t use her if you don’t like her. Still shallow, but less problematic. If you do like her, then there is no need to change her.

Stop acting pretentious about a character in a video game. Seriously, it isn't that big of a deal for most of us. I'm disrespecting people that look like her? Okay, you're getting way too deep into this. All I said was that she has some cosmetics that look so bad it's almost as if they're making her look as bad as possible. I don't know where this whole society thing came about since it has nothing to do with what I'm talking about. We don't really care if there aren't that many ugly people presented in shows or video games. Just making her look okay is all we're asking.
You asking her to look “okay” is the reason the society thing was necessary to be brought up.
Your idea of what’s an “okay face” isn’t everyone’s idea, and your idea of what an “okay face” is comes from the specific ideas of what’s beautiful in your eyes.
Most people will agree upon what’s attractive based on what the society they live in says is an ideal beauty standard. I’m not saying you want her to look like a blowup doll, those are another persons words. But you’re wanting each character to assimilate to a specific beauty standard that isn’t shared all around the world, and shouldn’t be expected as the “minimum”.
do you understand how that can be an issue?
-
@Derp said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/687243#Comment_687243
I meant that most people don't like how she looks, which is why you got the Nea killer meme. Most people will agree that Nea isn't very attractive but that wasn't really my point. Brokedown said, "What is this bizarre obsession with every survivor needing to be physically appealing to everyone?", so I answered by saying everybody likes beautiful characters so it isn't difficult to understand. I then referenced the head cosmetic with the sideburns as an example of how bad she looks.
You're right, beauty is subjective but most people will agree on who's attractive and who isn't. Also, I never disrespected his opinion in any way. He just came off as rude to the people he was responding to.
Most people think she looks like a monster because she's abnormally ugly. I know this sounds messed up but I don't know how to explain it any other way and sugar coating it won't do anything.
Me and many others in this thread aren't asking for Nea to be pretty. We just want her to look decent. Of course, making her look pretty would be nice but if not, then that's okay.
Also, Hag and the other killers you've mentioned that look the way they do is fine, since that's what people expect them to look like, but a teenage girl that looks like a hobo isn't.
The disrespect is you claiming it isn’t okay for a teenage girl to look like her. There ARE girls that look like her. Saying someone can’t look like that and that they need to have an altered face is a systemic issue perverting our society as a whole.
People like relating to characters they play too, and you’re disregarding that. People don’t just want a superficial image of what society says is acceptable as “okay” because even that is held to a higher standard then is truly fair.
i understand what you’re saying, my issue isn’t comprehension. I just think your opinion is shallow, and I’m voicing my disagreement with it being a change that should be implemented. It diminishes not only the relatability factor of the cast, but comes from a systemically immoral enforced image of what’s acceptable as “average”.
So what if she has a wide nose and her eyes are farther apart than the other characters. Those do fit with some classically Swedish facial structures, and makes sense from her heritage. And it isn’t considered ugly in all cultures, some cultures do consider those features attractive. This game played worldwide and there are several characters that already fit the idea of beauty you are proposing should be implemented. Other demographics should be represented as well. Some people have that facial structure. So what is she has bad posture, it fits her personality to stand her head craned forward since she’s used to sneaking around and looking around corners.
Your missing the point that your idea of what’s an average level of beauty is as imbalanced as your concept of what’s exceptionally beautiful.
-
@Derp said:

- People do want the characters to be pleasing to the eye, or at least the character shouldn't give the player an eye sore when they look at them.
- Yeah, I can see that clearly, but most people agree Nea looks like a monster but you can't seem to respect that. And by the way, I said it isn't rocket science because you were wondering why everyone wants the characters to look decent when it really isn't difficult to understand so I'm not sure why you said it back to me but okay.
There are people in this thread that like how she looks. Your first claim is invalid when people do find her pleasing to the eye and don’t find her to be an eyesore. She already exists in the form you’re referencing in your first bullet point. Some people finding her not attractive, or finding her to be an eye sore is not the same as everyone finder her to be that way.
Beauty is subjective, and it really sounds like YOU can’t respect that people do like her already, she’s the third or fourth most popular character to play even after perks are unlocked. It seems people are happy with her just fine when you recognize they choose to play her when they don’t have to.
most people don’t think she literally looks like a monster, it’s a bunch of people that don’t get turned on by her and make fun of her appearance because she isn’t hot. And that is really mostly with her two default heads. Still fun to make jokes and poke fun at stuff, and that has become a part of the game. But characters who aren’t classically attractive belong in this game as much as the classically attractive ones.
in a game with rotting corpse women, and creepy clown sociopaths there isn’t a good argument against having a survivor who isn't meeting your standard of attractiveness. Like, there are far uglier characters in the game, and far grosser things you see playingthis survival horror.
The only characters who have a relevant argument when it comes to changing their appearance are Laurie, Tapp, and Quinten and that’s because they are literally based off of an actor, and their models don’t look like them.
a huge part of the game is having people from different backgrounds, with different appearances and styles, etc. so her look adds to that.
If you don’t like her face THAT MUCH then simply don’t play as her. You don’t have to, and other people enjoy playing as her so it doesn’t make sense to change her/get rid of her current look.
And in respond to the “but I have to see her in game even if I don’t play her” complaint, you have to see a rotting skeleton hag and a dismembered and nearly naked 19 year old who was butchered by her father, and a man who wears people’s faces, and someone with a second face growing out of their chest/shoulder, etc.
making her “not an eye sore” is so illogical a point when taking all of that into account
-
I love her new skater grunge look! It fits her character.
not every character in the game needs to look like a model, and I DO think her new cosmetic is pretty.
its one thing to want Quinten to look like the actor he’s based off of. It’s another thing to want to change a characters complete look because you aren’t attracted to them sexually which is wholly unnecessary unless their archetype is supposed to be “sexy/slutty lady/dude in a horror movie”

In a game where generators can be completed within 5 minutes, simply leaving a vulnerable target alone and just opting not to pressure the survivors for free is often a losing option.
Sure you have the choice NOT to tunnel in that situation, but you're more than likely going to lose just from that alone.
Just like any challenge, you need to face it to improve. Of course if you’re bad at it you will lose. It takes practice. I still stand by the statement that it’s STILL the killers fault becaus exits their choice, and the title of this thread is ridiculous.
Tunnel if you choose to. Just don’t displace the choice and not being yours when you do it

Because I'm not.
That’s your decision. I’m saying he should own up to the fact that they are choosing to tunnel and it’s not the other players fault. It’s the choice of the player who is currently the killer.

Searching is way to risky. As killer you need to keep your momentum running. Searching someone without results might be the biggest reason to lose a game because the lack of pressure. Especially searching a Blendette with urban on a stealth map, not worth the effort.
It’s not “too risky”, you struggle with it. It takes time to learn how to track survivors and you won’t get better at it if you don’t practice by attempting it.
It may feel risky initially because it’s not a skill you’ve developed. In the end you aren’t trying to learn how to do that’s nd are doing something easy.
its your right to do it, but own up to it and don’t blame another player for your decision.
-
As someone who plays killer as well, from my perspective it sounds like you’re blaming someone else for your decision to tunnel and not seek out the survivor who unhooked. shrugs
i agree some survivors unhook way too soon. But those are separate issues. You can say one causes the other, but in the end I don’t feel like that’s ever an issue for me to have to tunnel someone so I don‘t see your logic there.

Buffy definitely isn't too campy. If they wanted to maintain their strict horror only licenses, they wouldn't have added Saw, AVED Ash, and Stranger Things, no matter how scary the Pig, the Game, the Demo, and Hawkins are. Saw is tortureporn the movie with good writing for the first 3 films, AVED is Bruce Campbell getting drenched in gore and being a badass moron, and Stranger Things has prevalent elements of every 80s genre, including comedy, romance, and drama. Buffy would fit right in.
I can agree with you only in regards to Ash from Evil Dead, the other two are quite serious films and fit pretty snuggly into the horror genre.
Let me re-evaluate/ rephrase my opinion. I think a Survivor / Killer chapter from the tv show is not as likely as seeing her brought in for IKWYDLS.
For SMG, I think we could see her released solo like Ash was, or released solo for the Grudge or Scream 2. But unless they are doing that flesh demon from Season 7 or the Gentleman(WHICH WOULD BE AMAZING), I don't see her in a "full" chapter for Buffy.
Honestly with all the roles SMG has played, I'd almost want her stand alone as a survivor with all the outfits from ALL of her different scream queen roles. Not her just being represented in a specific film.
I'm also biased and would prefer the Buffy film over the tv show. But then I think of the Gentlemen and the Flesh Demonand want those two killers so bad! >.<
