And you wonder why SWF can be powerful...

This notify-the-other-survivors-that-I'm-being-chased is only a PORTION of what SWF using voice chat can share. Here's 10 more:

    • The killer's identity upon being spotted by the first survivor (free Object of Obsession or Alert without using a perk slot)
    • Which pallets have been used up (free Alert or Windows of Opportunity without using a perk slot)
    • Their general location (free Bond, Empathy, or Aftercare)
    • The general location of hex/dull totems, as well as the ocassional trap/mark/snare (free Small Game)
    • The general location and completion of gens (free Rainbow Map)
    • The general location of the Black Lock (hatch) once spawned and located by the first survivor (free Map with the Black Cord add-on)
    • The general location of unopened chests (free Plunderer's Instinct)
    • The killer's proximity to the hooked survivor (free Kindred)
    • The killer's general location (free Spine Chill or Premonition)
    • The exit gates' location(s) (free Wake Up!)

If you're worried about what 4 strangers can do with just the being-chased info, imagine what coordinated teams of 4 who play together consistently can do (reach red ranks as killer and you won't have to imagine).

I still stand by what I said. I play both as killer and survivor, and I prefer solo. This would ruin playing solo if it's forced upon solo players, that's how I feel. I like not knowing where the killer is all the time, and if I always knew who was in a chase it would feel like I knew way too much about the killer and remove some of the suspense that actually exists.

  • Absolutely no, haha. That's way too powerful for when playing survivor unless it takes up a perk slot, and even then I feel like that would be too strong of a perk unless it specified in a case and more so goes off every 30 seconds or something. Bond and Empathy exist for tracking chases

  • I always thought devotion should let you keep the shard level, and then as you continue to level it adds more to the base level of shards you acquire. Thus the more you play, the more shards you earn because of your “devotion”.

Id recommend this, and then retroactively gifting dedicated players an equivalent amount of shards because of their loyalty to the game and continued gaming.

  • Hive mind/Group Mentality/etc.

Negative people tend to surround themselves with more negative people, and complainers surround themselves with other complainers or enablers. They tend to reinforce someone's complaint and sometimes exaggerate/exacerbate it.

Also when people play together regularly they tend to also be protective/defensive of each other, and want to as a group place the fault of their loss on another instead of conceiving the idea that the killer was just that good.

I feel like this also happens in a positive aspect. But people are more likely to complain then thank someone, so the negative aspect is much more apparent.

I just wanted to share 2 new ones I got:

1° Playing as huntress with pink addon to insta down, not camping nor tunneling, no ruin. 4k result. Rank 10.

    Survivor: Using addons = trash

Me: Dead survivor who doesn't know how to take an L = LMAO!

    Survivor: Still trash

    Me: LMAO!

    Survivor: Trash...

Me: No camping, no tunneling, no ruin, no noed, still 4k, god, the devs should forbid using addons right?

    Survivor: Still trash

2° Playing as Freddy freshly prestiged 1 Blood warden as only perk, no addons, 4k result. Rank 9.

    Me: GG!

Survivor: Learn to play as neutral killers and stop using OP ones, then you'll have the right to say GG

Me: What? Is this for real?

Survivor: As real as your cheaty butt

    Me: Whatever... Still 4k...

Survivor: You're on my list now, get ready to get tunneled and camped

    Me: Whatever dude...

Survivor: Just ######### and uninstall the game

Second survivor is a PERFECT example of some of the complaints I get.

It’s not solely survivors or killers, just players who get angry about not being as good as they wish, and decide to camp/tunnel because they don’t know how to play and don’t wanna learn to be good.

sorry people are giving you crud for playing the game

  • This power sounds fun to use

  • I would love that ^_^

I'm not going to get my hopes up because that's the monster I want most other then a Harpy/bird-lady, haha.

I'd rather not expect it and never get it, and just accept it as not happening and then see a leak or teaser one day and just lose my mind.

  • This game is fine :)

Your post is laced with assumptions an bias, and if you want to stop playing then stop. The game isn't in need of being saved. It's growing and expanding. This is just a fortunate boost that will add a larger player base.

Games will always have people who complain because they aren't as good as they wish, and try and blame the game itself. The developers listen to their audience and tweak things to find balance and do a great job.

There will always be insecure extremists who never feel like it's in their favor enough.

Greta job behavior, we appreciate the work you put into making this game so fun! On my third year playing BOTH killer and survivor, and plan on continuing to play both and enjoying each side ^_^

  • Survivors also blame other survivors for being jerks or purposely screwing them over.

Both sides complain equally because they both want to win, and people who are more competitive will complain more when things don't go their way. People try one side and feel like they are better with the killers or survivors, and then feel inadequate and get angry when they can't keep up with their self imposed idea of how well they should be doing.

It's simply insecure people mostly. There are valid complaints on both sides, and it's important to be receptive of the critiques that come from both sides, but most people, ESPECIALLY they ones who complain and use absolute terms are the ones who tend to be throwing fits for not winning versus trying to find true balance.

Werewolfs are humanoid, but didn't they say they didn't want to make that one either? :(

They stated in the past that they wanted to avoid specific cliche monsters like Werewolves, Vampires, literal white-sheet ghosts, clowns, etc.

The point they were intending was to avoid anything too cheesy/cliche, and focus on more original concepts. They never said they don't want monster-killers. The main issue was the rendering of different skeletons and being able to produce something functional every several months.

The times they have broken down and done something they claimed they wouldn't was when they felt they came up with a concept that was creepy enough to pull off without losing the creep/spook-factor.

People took it too literal, instead of recognizing they probably are down to do literally ANY killer if they feel they can pull it off, and don't want the pressure to produce any specific kind of killer if it can be pulled off in the manner they envision.

  • It used to happen all the time when I first started playing, like the first several months, but now it never happens unless I get like 3 body blocks

And why does it matter if he gets money for a license he may, or may not have? How exactly does him getting money from you=agreeing with, or supporting his terrible actions?

Because giving a pedophile money is supporting them financially. I don't want to financially support a pedophile. Simple as that.

  • @Chickenchaser said:

Don't be one of those guys. One of those people offended by everything, and anything. It's old. It's so old. (I'm not saying you are one of those guys)

I hope the devs are smarter than that.

Also. DBD doesn't need Victors permission. Jeepers creepers is a 1938 book filled with tons of source material. They can basically copy how the monster visually looks in the movie (or really close), because the book covers it in details. They can ask for book rights which Victor definitely has no claim to, if he even has the movie license in the first place; which i don't think he does anymore.

If they can take the concept and keep the pedophile from getting any money then I support it. Being offended by someone who is a pedophile isn't "being one of those guys who is offended by everything". It's being against adults who sexually assault children.

  • Survivors shoudl obviously get BP if a killer DCs. From my experience playing most killers do it when they are upset they lost, and it unfairly punished solo players.

@Raven014 Stranger Things is not horror in any way. It's teen drama. Every death is an emotional sappy scene, every scene with a monster is an action scene, and most of the show is about romance or kids living their daily lives with an added dose of sci-fi things. If it's supposed to be horror then this world has really gone to the crapper when it comes to the horror genre. As I said before, the only scene that was even close to horror related was Barb's death, and it wasn't even 2 seconds.

@xCarrie Outfits are something not lore related, or game related. They are cosmetics, purely for looking the way you want. Ash is a survivor, I would give them a bit more leeway with that, and I believe for all intents and purposes it was MEANT to be horror. I didn't watch it, but if it was bad horror, that's a different story. A killer(or survivor) can have a sense of humor while still being considered horror, but a show can't be full comedy and be considered horror.

    I'm just gonna repost this:

Horror is very personal. Most people aren't going to find most horror movies scary. There are some universal fears that exist, but those are done so often that you need a twist to really make those classic fears/scares effective.

Most horror is going to be only scary when you pair it with things that the viewer personally relates to and fears at an irrationally higher level (or sometimes personally historically rational).

Fear of diseases, fears of being murdered by a loved one, going crazy, etc.

Horror gets a bad wrap because people treat anything that shows dimension, drama, mystery, thrill, etc. as being of that genre and not involving both.

There is a reason a lot of people say horror movies aren't scary, it's because they aren't watching the ones THEY would find scary. They are simply watching a horror flick that doesn't resonate with the fears of their internal structure.

Also when it comes to the more generalized ones, the most effective fear implementing strategies in horror revolve around more complex systems which aren't really possible to construct in a game like Dead by Daylight in gameplay, but solely in lore.

Being eternally trapped in a death game where you never leave IS TERRIFYING. But we can always set down the controller and make some popcorn before we throw on Clue or Airplane.

It is totally valid to say something doesn't scare you, but it scaring you personally and it being of the horror genre are very different. There are plenty of horror movies that don't feel scary at all but still involve horrifying subject matter.

PS: Goosebumps counts as horror. It is a horror show marketed toward children. Still horror, just tailored for CHILDREN. Both of you are showing you lack like 0 credibility in being able to speak for the horror genre when you think you can eliminate different things you personally don't like from the category. Read a book(or two) on the genre.

    1. Joyce Byers
    2. Jim Hopper
    3. Nancy Wheeler
    4. Jonathan Byers
    5. Karen Wheeler
    6. Steve Harrington
    7. Billy Hargrove
    8. Bob Newby
    9. Barb Holland
    10. Robin Buckley

Those are the 9 feasible characters from the show to choose as playable.

Hopper is a cop, and we already have a cop in the game so though I would love to have him, he doesn't bring as much diversity.

Jonathan though feasible, is a creeper and he kind of lacks personality except for being a voyeur and a brother.

Karen though she would bring diversity to the game seems like she wouldn't bring a fanbase.

Billy is WAY too similar to David to be considered.

Robin is awesome, but relatively new and wouldn't bring much of a fanbase with her. My favorite character btw.

The 5 most feasible in my opinion would be:

    1. Joyce - Older woman, Mother, Fan favorite
    2. Nancy - Different from other girls, reporter
    3. Steve - Cooler then Dwight, nicer then David
    4. Bob - Older man, nerdy
    5. Barb - sweet, smart, different look from other girls

Joyce and Bob were probably too expensive which leaves Nancy, Steve and Barb. And though Barb was a fan favorite, the other two have a longer run on the show so they have had more screen time and represent the brand better.

This is all opinion so I know some won't agree. I would have personally chosen Joyce, Robin, Barb or Steve if I had the ability to pick myself

The three that make the most sense to me outside of that would be Barb, Bob, Hopper or Billy as the four to pick two from.

No. The Nurse was confirmed to have served the entity the longest. But she is not the oldest in time. Meaning, the Plague is the oldest but hasn't served the longest. Huntress is younger, but has been in the Entity longer.

    My bad :p

Where was it said the nurse had served the longest? I'd like to read about it from the originating source material.

That'd be horrifying, DBD would be the only game where regenerators aren't on the top of the Resident Evil scary as hell list.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/638946#Comment_638946

I'd hope it was on a timer or something and not just random. That'd drive me crazy. It would be cool if it was an activatable that was powerful but the moon shone brighter when it was activated so that, map wide, survs would know that the killer has their power active and to be careful.

If they involved a werewolf that killer would always be in sub-wolf form, especially since it's always a full moon.

I think they werewolf killer would more likely have a rage power where they get aggressive and faster.

Maybe the werewolf killer could "infect" the survivors, and they wouldn't change fully but start to take on visual lycanthropic qualities. That way you can recognize they are "infected", and maybe approaching the survivor while playing another survivor would trigger an "attack" and reduce someone by a health state. It would encourage a divide and conquer play style, and add tension. You might not see their physical transformation from far away, or you might be with them and then they suddenly look more wolf-like and you know you gotta get away for they might reduce you by a health state.

It could be a quick animation like the vomiting effect.

  • The Upside-down world also had toxins in the air that made people lethargic and sick, so I think that it would be like Freddy meets the Plague, something like the doctor but with an illness, if they did use some of Fredy's original power concept.

Oh I missed that in the trailer somehow, still super excited! Do you think it'd have drops from the top floor (as is tradition) or would it be more like the old Coldwind House design where you have to take the stairs?

Well if It has stairs, I imagine there would also be drops. I think it'll be one floor because the facility uses elevators to travel up and down. But they could simply just put in stairwells, or make the ceiling of the lower level/floor of the upper level be collapsed in areas and create ramps to go up and down

yea caus'e reminder the killer comes from d&d from what i heard :/

EDit: yea sorry i'm not familiar with d&d even tho i like rpg but the name come from it not the monster

It doesn't come from DnD, the children who play Dungeons and Dragons try and use their knowledge from their nerdy hobby to try and explain why their world is "turning upside down" and going crazy.

  • It's going to be the Hawkins Research Facility, not a high school so we know that.

I think there is a chance we could get a multistory map where the lower half is larger than the top half, or vice versa. It would be a different layout, and would give more run around room in some parts without it feeling too confined.

    That's a neat idea

  • I got into it because I like Dungeons and Dragons and a group of characters like playing it. You don't see it a lot, but the references are nostalgic.

Some hipsters like it, some don't.

It's a series that a lot of people enjoy so it's an alright chance you probably will like it, but it's not for everyone.

It is fun to also try and pinpoint what random references to some of my favorite movies are in it. Also I love Winona Ryder.

  • My favorite maps are the inside ones, so I'm super excited!! ^_^

I wonder if it's going to be a single floor or two floors like the Game.I'd really like something that's multiple stories again :D

Laurie was a senior in high school. It could be said shes 18. Quentin doesnt exist because hes not Freddie's real survivor. However hes also in high school and could be assumed 18. I didnt watch that pos remake.

It's not horror. Not because it doesnt scare me, It's because it's not horror at its core. Period. It's like saying the goonies is horror.

It standing upright does not make it humanoid. So once again, I'm done debating this with you. It has two arms and stands upright. Doesnt make it humanoid. As I said with bears, raptors, xenomorphs, etc. Hell, meercats can be humanoid by that.

    So. Again. I'm. Done.

Too much fanboy hype overriding logic. Which is exactly what they wanted. Fortnite strategy. Mass fanservice > what made your game good to begin with.

Laurie and Quinten were both 17 in their respective movies. You can't say "quieten doesn't exist" because he does. You're cherry picking your choice of information.

You're using the same logical fallacies that you are complaining about. You're projecting your own issues in an argument. You complained about me ignoring your comment, and once again you ignored a part of my message. I responded to all of yours. Do you consider Alien, Pans Labyrinth, or Silence of the Lambs horror movies?

I would not put goonies into that mix. I can see parallels to Goonies in ST, but I would consider ST to have a subcategory of horror and Goonies to not. To be very specific I don't think ST is ONLY horror, but I consider it a mix o several genres, like most horror films are. Halloween is Horror/Suspense, Dead Alive is Horror/Comedy, Tucker and Dale vs Evil is a horror Comedy too.

You're bringing your own examples and making logical leaps. No one mentioned meerkats, ad you're the one claiming they are humanoid based on a definition that YOU wrote out as mine. You haven't given a definition of how you discern something as humanoid. Do you feel it needs a face? Two eyes, a nose and a mouth? Does it need to have five fingers? How do you define it? You aren't using the generalized definition, so I'm curious what qualifiers you consider are necessary for that term.

And you're welcome to be done. I'm not forcing you to respond, but you're on a public forum and I want to know why you're posting what you're posting. You can choose to respond and carry the conversation or just not respond. But if you make a bold claim I will vocalize my disagreement if I feel necessary.

  • @Carpemortum said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/638635#Comment_638635

1.It Is not humanoid. It is bipedal.

And that's where I'm done with you. Raptors are humanoid if you believe that. Bears are humanoid too then.

Walking on hind legs does not make it humanoid. Period. Perhaps you should touch up on your vocabulary instead of trying to insult others to defend your wrong points.

    2. It is not horror. It is not scary. It is a scifi show, tad of comedy ffs. It has horror elements and nods, but it is not horror. It's a teen show that uses horror as a tag to get more viewers. Hemlock grove wouldnt be horror, and it's far darker that ST.

    3. It IS a shallow excuse. Is the demogorgon STILL the threat in s3? You conveniently didnt answer. Because if not, they took the killer from earlier seasons, and survivors from later seasons to fit their own rules because otherwise it wouldnt work. They literally had to hobble the content together to make it work. They're only adults NOW.

    1) Saying it's bipedal doesn't make it suddenly not humanoid, that is one aspect that makes something humanoid. I wasn't insulting you, you don't know the definition of the term humanoid and I didn't know what to tell you other then to look it up and try and understand it better. You can either educate yourself, or be stubborn and keep using a term incorrectly. I'm not normally one to be a stickler for definitions in an internet discussion but when that word is the basis of your argument I'm going to correct you.

    2) It is horror. Horror is a diverse genre, and it not scaring YOU doesn't mean it doesn't use thematic elements to scare people and fall into the category. You're just being stubborn again. A monster from an alternate dimension shows up and hunts people after pulling them into this alternate world that is dark and isolating. I'm curious if you consider Alien, Pans Labyrinth, or Silence of the Lambs horror. Maybe you're more picky and exclusive with your definition.

    3) You argument of them grabbing survivors from a later season and killer from an earlier season is invalid because how the entity works. It pulls people and killers from different times. I didn't "conveniently" not answer, I didn't think it was relevant. What about your ignoring Laurie and Quinten both being children?

You don't see a demogorgon in season 3 so I can't answer if it still holds a threat, but I'd say yes since it is a monster that eats people. It doesn't feel like they hobbled it together from my perspective.

  • @Carpemortum said:

No, you didn't comprehend what I said. At all.

My point is that they can "remove or rework" something, then release something that is causing the same issues, or under the same umbrella. Not the same.

Saying it wouldnt surprise me at all if they did it, as theyve done this type of thing before. "We changed it because of X". "Heres a new perk, that is heavily based on X".

You make more sense here, thank you for actually explaining yourself instead of using an out of context statement.

  • @Carpemortum said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/638612#Comment_638612

Humanoid killers. Being the big one.

Horror as a main point being another.

Also taking 3 seasons to mature is a shallow excuse. Was the demogorgon still the threat in season 3? Did they really not have any better ideas?

Or are they just mixing to make it work and appeal to fans.

    1) It is humanoid. I don't know what to tell you other than to learn the definition of the word.

    2) Stranger Things is a horror tv show. Sure it has the subcategories of Sci-Fi/Mystery, but it's unquestionably a horror show.

    3) That's not a "shallow" excuse. They simply are adults. It doesn't break their rules. If anything Nancy and Steve are more valid survivor options than Laurie and Quinten because of age.

They didn't go back on their word

Making the Clown a killer was going back on their word. NONE of this is.

  • Yeah, old DS was WAY better then. MoM ever was. Then they listened to feedback and changed MoM in response to survivor/killer critique and it’s even more different.

even if it’s similar, they aren’t going to copy and paste the ability, it’ll function differently and they will make the power more unique as time goes on. They ALWAYS tweak the powers a little now.

You’re worried it’ll be too similar, but your example you used proves the opposite of your concern.

Yeah. Two kid survivors, and a killer that theyve rehashed powers for. Yay.

Glad people who wanted it got it, but it's a shame that people asking for something that doesnt fit, works. Jeepers creepers next. And jason. And hell now that theyve broken all their own rules theres ZERO reason we cant have xenomorph. Since, ya know, their own rules dont matter anymore.

Time to put real time into games that dont sellout for fan service.

    “Broke all their rules”?

    STRANGER THINGS SEASON 3 SPOILERS

The two characters are both adults in the show now. And that’s one rule, that they didn’t break.

  • I didn’t realize the desire is so high, but I hope they don’t change her since she is such a fun killer to play and excited to play against as survivor

  • It seems to me both sides feel that things happen too fast in general, be it generators or being tunneled, so there needs to be a way to extend the length of the game for both survivors and killers without adding monotony.

Kate has 33 cosmetics, Feng has 44, Jake has 49.

Personally I want them to stop giving Meg outfits and build everyone up to roughly 58-61 cosmetics.

  • I'm glad the rank level isn't shown anymore. It's arbitrary when denoting skill level, and caused a lot of survivors and killers to lobby jump, which made finding games take forever.

When I play her I don't ever feel like survivors are controlling her power or the game. I'll agree that we have different experiences when we play her.

  • I'm happy to discuss those assumptions. What do you have an issue with that I'm bringing up?

  • It seems like you want the killers to function less like they have unique abilities, and more like a cosmetic. They are all a different play style/mode, you'll be good with some and bad with others.

    shrugs

I'm sorry if you have trouble with her but she just might not be your killer. I suck with Hillbilly even though he is one of the easier killers in the game to play for a lot of people. I am good with the pig even though she is considered one of the worst. We all excel in different ways and fail in others.

Just learn to recognize your strengths and weaknesses, and own up to them.

If other people are good with her and you aren't, that isn't a sign that she is a bad killer. It's a sign that you aren't good with her.

It takes away the fun of playing them when you know you're gonna decimate without learning how to use their ability. We don't need every killer to be an easy mode

But not the healing down time..plus it limits her builds a little

Because it makes you run around the map, to very specific locations that the killer can see illuminated. and once a survivor uses that fountain, the plague gets a warning of where that survivor is on the map because the fountain turns red. And then you can drink from the fountain and hit that survivor with a ranged attack.

Her power is built for that purpose, and is effective. If you aren't able to wield her power appropriately then I'm sorry. But it isn't an issue with her. Her power is made with a specific play style in mind. It just means you aren't willing to adapt or aren't good with her as a character. You like how she looks, but not how she is played. It doesn't mean she needs to change. She's a fun and effective killer to play if used correctly.

The time used to heal and not be on gens..it is really important and plague doesnt have it

I also play killer so I understand what is important for a killer to have fun and be successful. And I don't see how there isn't injury downtime.

It's built into her power. Her power is all about pausing people from doing their goal and recovering.

It is important to not do gens, or you infect the other players working on that gen, or infect the gen which adds a new way to spread the exposed status effect.

Instead of injuring one person, you give someone a status effect that makes them go down in one hit, and they can spread that status effect if hey interact with others or with objects.

That's WAY better then hitting a single survivor if you know how to corral survivors, and still causes the effect your referring to.

  • I think a stylized costume for the clown would be potentially neat, but we already have a clown face character, so I don't think he would bring enough diversity to the game. Especially since he is also known for sing a chemical gas agent to effect his targets.

If the clown wasn't in the game, i'd be a little more for it but still reluctant. I think The Bat Who Laughs would be a more unique addition to the game.

Not the hook itself..the fact that no matter what..if you use your power theres no injury downtime u less its corrupt purge..considering hook pressure is the most important to killers I find this odd

What do you mean by "injury downtime" in that context?

I really enjoy how her power makes people have to run away from each other and divide up while ignoring gens to recover from being sick and becoming a "1 hit down".

  • You feel she doesn't have hook pressure unless you don't make people sick because the heal from the water sources takes away the concern of rushing to grab someone from the hook. Correct?
