My point has nothing to do with whether or not they are actually a comp team

Welp, but those regular SWF teams are definitly beatable. I hope the MMR will work one day and everybody will be matched on his skill level. Then nobody wont have to worry about super sweaty teams if you are a chill player.

  • I run against teams with tags frequently. Just because of that, i would not assume they are competetive. There are not many comp teams out there and even less in public.

  • @ArchAbhor said:

I'm tired of facing comp teams and op swfs. literally 4 games in a row, I'm ok with testing how good I am against 1. Absolutely infuriating to play against these teams in the games current unbalanced state. Show whos in swfs so im not constantly facing them. Not to mention how arrogant and nasty this community is at that level and you defend this crap by not doing anything about it.

One bad night of playing otherwise my win ratio is relatively high against solo q and non comp swfs. Don't tell me I don't know because i've played enough to know the difference.

    Which team was it?

If you're a really good player, then yeah, it's normal to beat most of the other people you play against.

I looked at another strong player today, Pro Vengeance. He had a 800+ game win streak recently playing a variety of killers, including lots of Ghostface, Clown, and others that people would consider not super strong. Prior to MMR, he had very good stats:

    4K: 1459      91.4%

    3K: 125         7.8%

    2K: 8         0.5%

    1K: 3         0.1%

    0K: 1         0.1%

Since MMR went active, his stats dropped:

    4K: 26         65.0%

    3K: 9         22.5%

    2K: 2         5.0%

    1K: 1         2.5%

    0K: 2         5.0%

He's doing better than me, but he plays lots of mid-tier killers.

I think just because you're good, it doesn't mean you have to be punished for it. High-level killers being only grouped with high-level survivors makes it almost impossible to just sit down and enjoy a game casually. You're constantly having to play at the top of your game against other high-level players sweating hard to get the win.

I think if you're the type who likes SBMM in video games, that means you are not a good player. You have no drive, no confidence in yourself, no work ethnic, and probably aren't successful IRL.

I'm sure the decision to add SBMM comes down to $$$. SBMM increases retention of less-skilled players. It keeps the average newbie away from pro and semi-pro players, gives them more chances to win, keeps them interested in the game, and gets them to spend their money unlocking cosmetics and new killers. BHVR has much less incentive to please the higher-skilled players who've been around a bit have already spent whatever money they're going to spend.

    LMFAO that guy...

The personification of entitled killer main. Slug, camp tunnel nonstop and sweating his ass off all the time and when he gets a taste of his own medicine and is loosing once every what?... 500 games he is complaining how unfair and survivor sided the game is. 🤣

Imagine winning 87% and loosing 7,5% on high MMR with mainly mediocre or even bad killer and still complaining. The game is so unfair.

  • How sweaty have your killer matches been?

I am currently without much effort at a relativly high 4K streak. The matches i get are pretty much the same as they are when i play survivor. It is like a randomizer is shoveling 5 people together. Joke level of MMR.

  • I am not saying anything here. It will just get my favourite perk nerfed (for good reason ;-) )

  • I dont know how to rate Pinhead for now, but the rest of it is very accurate.

  • Update: My experience is still the same. When i play survivor, i sometimes play with bots and sometimes play with other strong players. On the other hand the killer is between 8K hours Nurse main and Day 1 Trapper baby. And it is likely that the Day1 Trapper baby has to go up against 4 experienced survivors while the 8K hours Nurse plays vs afks or survivors who dont even know what BBQ or Nurses is.

I found this video just right now and i confirm what he is saying.

Can some of the devs tell me why there should be such a secrecy with the mmr score?

I'm pretty sure a dev won't comment but would be nice if they clear this up.

I mean, in every other game with a ranking system (mmr not the grades/ranks) they just openly show the mmr score to the player self.

Not towards other players, which tbh i care less about, but i would love to see what my own score is and what i gain or lose.

I think I'm not the only person who would love to see their own mmr score, or am i wrong about that?

Because this game is not a competetive game in the first place and MMR should only help finding matches which are in your skill range. At least this is my thought on why they hide it.

Another reason why they probably hide it is because of the abuse factor.

  • @Kees_T said:

MMR is a system that rely on user data, so playing just 4-5 matchs won't be enough to place your MMR where it should be. It's like a stairs, you can't just jump to the end with just few steps, you'ill need a lot of steps to reach.

I guess some 100 Survivor matchs will put you into a almost decent spot for your skill level.

Which is hopefully true, but didnt they had plenty of time to collect data?

  • @Mr_K said:

Devs know and acknowledge this during the Depip Squad time and said so what.

Which is about 3 years and 500 survivor nerfs in the past.

  • Game 9: 5 Gen run vs Wraith. Eventually got me with his first hit supported by Noed. Team left instantly. Can not blame them at least they did gens.

    sKiLL bAsEd MaTcHMakinG 🤣

  • Game 8: "Bullying" the Twins who had not even a chance. He got a 2K because my team decided to troll him since until EGC he had 1 hook. Post game chat i appologise and he took it chill. He still had fun at his......FIRST game since months!

    Very good skill based MM.

  • Game 7: An Ash 3 (!) Doctor vs 4 red ranked survivors. Needless to say that he got completly destroyed. That poor Doctor had 256 hours while no survivor was below 900!

    Really good job so far.

  • @botrax said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/278420/is-this-now-skill-based-matchmaking

You cant just count the hours of the player. If i have 2k hours on killer and only 50 hours on survivor i wont ay like a 2k hours survivor. Not only that but some people make the swich from console to pc i know im in that pool i have 300 hours on pc but i start to play on cosole when spirit got release so i think im close to the 2k hours total.

It is not only the hours but the obvious experience. You can tell when someone is new to the game or at least not experienced.

  • Game 6: Haddonfield vs a Pyramid Head. He was Gold 1 but actually played like Ash 1. He got completly destroyed by the 4 R1 survivors and leaving the match with only 1K thanks to noed.

  • @playhard said:

lol what a brag, this game has no balance for esports, if you want esports play valorant, COD,pubg

lol, okay tell me. How is it fair that a very experienced player with 4K hours has to face a killer who has 300 hours and obviously dont even know the killer he is playing? This has nothing to do with esports or is a brag. Simply the truth.

  • Game 5: A Huntress who can not hit hatchets. Not even easy hits who would have connected all the time. After reloading 3 (!!) times, she got her first hit on me. My team on the other hand goes down in seconds running in a straight line. At the end one guy even blames her for using aimbot. She had 600 hours and this could have been her first hour on Huntress.

  • For me Pinhead is such a disapointment, just like Nemesis was. Range killer with some extras, thats it. We had those type of killers more then enough, i want to see something new to the table.

  • @Trickstaaaaa said:

I mean it's 4 brains (even thought at times it does not seem like it)vs 1 brain. So yeah clearly the team with more people usually tend to have the advantage, especially in video games.

Strange argument which i never really understood. Just because 4 cooks are making a soup does not mean it will be better as if it would be cooked by 1 guy.

In fact, 1 brain playing all 4 survivors would be much superior. Thats why in "professional" comps there is always a leader aka caller who is responsible for all decisions.

  • What is high rank? Just the regular red rank matches or are we talking about Tournament level?

If the topic is about random R1 games, the game is actually pretty ballanced. In fact i would even give many killers the advantage. The killrate at red ranks support my argument (60-70% killrate).

On tournament level, sure, survivors do have some sort of advantage, but its not nearly as much as many here think. Nurse Blight Spirit or Hag are even favourites, while the rest of the roster still has chances to win.

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

I mean, congratulations? Glad it only took 2 second chances. If they tunneled harder, it might have required DS too. Lucky that didn't happen.

Hello Huntress. Get over it :D

Pinhead is not just another ranged killer he’s the most unique killer we’ve gotten since Twins. He can go through walls to scout objectives and shoot out the chain on multiple floors, teleport and play a game of sabotage to fight over the lament configuration. That sounds awesome and fun to play. It’s not a copy of another ranged killer

Yes all cool, sounds amazing. It range thats it.

Its nothing this game needs even more, no matter if it is extra or mainability. Thats why i said, wasted potential. We could have got actually something really cool but eventually its another range killer with fancy extras. I am definitly not impressed by that. Its just the same "creativity level" as Nemsis. Its Range but this time they add Zombies! Mindblowing.

  • @miketheratguy said:

I thought that Pinhead's design was pretty creative, actually. Besides, anyone familiar with the character knows that he doesn't run up and punch you.

What is so creative about another range / skillshot ability? Obviously we have chains which was dead given but what they made with that is another infusion of what we already had the last few killers before.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

It's not ranged in my opinion, because it doesn't deal damage.

It is just another form of range. And you do deal damage with one of his addons.

  • @Myla said:

Getting a 3 man escape doesn't mean the killer won either, Most likely depip'd on his end.

You should reword your whole topic to instead of 'Winning' In general getting a PERFECT win as a killer is much more easy in that sense I disagree.

It's pretty easy to secure at least one kill by you know...face camping. Just because I secured one kill and you chalk it up to killer being easy just because 4 escape isn't possible is just misdirecting.

I dont know what you mean by that, i think i made it clear what winning means in this case.

Also, 600 4Ks are 600 4Ks in a row. Try that as survivor.

You clearly haven't seen tournament level teams, if they would play in public matches they would have no issues achieving it. They play on KYF with tournament level killers...

I used to play in tournaments. I have never seen any crazy streak like that. To be fair, i dont know anybody going for it, but it is not unusual that even very good teams loose players during a match, if the killer is really good. It might be maybe possible on low ranks tho but for sure not on a regular base.

  • If i had to bet my money, i would say she is cheating. But there are some really insane Spirit players out there who can pull off such things.

  • @Kalinikta said:

How many squads do you see always playing together, with the sole aim of escaping as a 4 man?

Naturally it is easier to record a win streak on a killer as the only person that needs to show up and decide they want to sweat it out. Compared to 4 individuals that need to play together, while each of them using optimal builds and all that jazz.

Solo survivor escape streaks are more difficult, as they must depend on their team.

None, since it is already challanging to have 1 specific survivor escape, not even mentioning all 4.

I am certaint that the best team in the world would struggle 100 4-man-escapes in a row while 100 4Ks as a killer is done countless times.

  • @Floofgaming said:

It's genuine bullshit where a person can unhook themselves within 16m of me and i get punished for going for the closest and only person who isnt across the ######### map in a poorly balanced place, why do i get punished for survivors being stupid

There is really nothing they can do about this. If unhooking youself is also deactivating DS, this would simply nerf that perk too much. Its a bitter pill you simply have to swollow. On the positive site: He used at least 2 (DS and Deliverance) but probably 3 or 4 (Unbreakable and Soulguard) slots to bring that one time move.

  • @Alphasoul05 said:

If you play against 4 good survivors then you'll realize that this game is much more difficult as a killer. Until SBMM gets implemented the fact is it is easier to play killer because, again, there's so many people who don't belong in the ranks they are, on both sides, that it is objectively easier for killers to win. It's easier at low ranks as a killer, which is why so many killers get into the green/purple ranks and they can't handle it, or the speed in which gens go.

Though, even with SBMM I would probably say it's easier to play killer *in general* because a mediocre killer playing 4 mediocre survivors will favor the killer, but a high skilled killer against 4 high skilled survivors will favor the survivors. The latter scenario most of this community cannot relate to, hence the lack of understanding around the topic.

According to that (and i dont say i disagree), getting kills as killer is in general much more easy, also on high ranks, because survivors can be red ranked without beeing even good (i kinda agree with you here, maybe we are both wrong).

But if this would be the case, why do we have so many complains that killer is so hard, when killing survivors on red rank is easy?

Your an adult now, go buy it on the PlayStation store if it bothers you so much. I know Black is the on PS store. Not to sure about the others.

Sweet friend, i am aware of that thank you and i own this game since ages... but AT THAT TIME it was something different and i was envious US had it and we dont. I hope it is more clear now what i mean.

  • @Alphasoul05 said:

It's not easier, there's just so much variation across all ranks that killers can easily win if they take out the weak players. Sometimes, every player is a weak player. If you're going to use winstreaks as a form of balance or measure of difficulty, then I don't really know what to tell you, friend, aside from that's really dumb.

The only thing about what you said being true here is that it's easier to go on a win streak as a killer than it is as a survivor by virtue of so many more variables being at play.

Yes but arent those variables not the reason why it is more easy to get those win streaks? Of course it might be over very fast when you run into a Tournament squad, but that can also happen every survivor who plays against a very good killer.

I am not saying that i use this as a ballance metric, but isnt it very odd that killers can have more wins in a row then survivors. The variables also depend on the killer. It might be that a survivor has a bad day, but also the killer can have a bad day eswell and loose because of that.

  • Lucky US... we never got this game in EU on our PS1. I hate you! ;)

  • Okay its obvious that Trapper or Clown wont be able to destroy a strong Tournament team but below that very high level, EVERY killer is viable. I doubt many here are even close to this level of experience and those who are know what i am talking about.

People really need to chill and stop these nonsense buff suggestions because they can not handle a certaint killer, no offense but it is what it is.

If you are not good enough with a weak killer to compete against good survivors, you will be matched against those who are on your skilllevel. Thats it and it is pretty much the best that can happen to Trapper&Co.

Surely they will be changed so it iant just blight spirit and nurse at the top right?

It would be much more healthy for the game to talk about nerfing those killers then buffing the rest of it.

  • No

Public MMR will make sweaty people even more sweaty and by more sweaty i mean more genrush, more tunnel, more camp. Its all about these numbers then.

  • @Clowning said:

  • @Vulgun said:

Here's what I'm exactly going to be doing to really test the limits of this new "SBMM":

    • I'm going to first try and get my MMR as low as possible with one specific killer; the Nemesis will be my plaything for this experiment. Afterwards, I'm going to actively see if the MMR is actually going to be able to give me much higher MMR at a much faster rate after winning, or if it will remain slow. Thus, this will result in one of two outcomes:
      • Outcome 1 is that the MMR actually adjusts swiftly and puts me against high MMR players where I should be at; this would confirm that at least the system is attempting to work (even though nobody wanted a system like this) and I will actively be trying to avoid high MMR like the plague deliberately.
      • Outcome 2 is that the MMR adjusts very slowly and puts me against low MMR players that I'm easily able to swamp, and thus get to Iridescent Grade I as fast as possible. This outcome, while preferable to me for testing purposes, would not be preferable for those who are low ranks and low MMR just to get a Killer or Survivor whose rank is actually an Iridescent Grade I. This outcome would also showcase how poorly designed the system is.
    • Then after that, I will actively attempt to see just how one can make the slowest possible MMR gains in Dead by Daylight while also resulting in a pip; this would also result in a similar outcome to Outcome 2 as stated before, as it would mean I would rank up fast but would ultimately end up not getting fast MMR build-up, thus leading to low MMR, high rank.
    • Because of this, if this all goes accordingly, I will have found a way to literally farm your way up to Iridescent Grade I for every season and thus get that easy 250,000 Bloodpoints for the Killer side.

    My prediction:

    • Their system's badly designed.

Dude you dont even have to try any of this. If you think it is hard or unfun in "high ranks" you wont be paired with good players anyway. So no worries.

  • @Seraphor said:

    There's nothing wrong with that.

If you play like #########, dicking around and getting yourself killed, then you'll end up with/against players where you can do that.

If you're dicking around to get to a stage where you can... continue dicking around, then it's working as intended.

"Abuse" would be if you AFK for 20 games, just so you could get to a stage where you can steamroll your opponent, but that might only last 5 or 10 games before you need to AFK for another 20... so is that worth it?

Loosing games intentionally is definitly not "nothing wrong with it"

He is purposly ruining the game for others. This is not single player where it does not matter.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

They will never lock it because stretched res users are too many and BHVR would lose too many potential purchases and customers

I doubt that. People who run stretch will just adapt... takes like 1-2 days maybe. They probably wont loose a single customer since people who run stretch definitly care about the game (otherwise they would not milk every advantage they can get, right?) and are probably the last who would actually stop playing it.

    • I defintly asked for Pinhead and there are plenty others who are excited to see this legend of a killer. So it is not nobody asked for Pinhead
    • That is a downside, but honestly, who should be the survivor? There is no iconic (at least in my opinion) protagonist who is worth adding. And i am super happy we dont get a new map. The only map i can think off is Hell.. which would be indoor and a mace... no thanks
    • I love weak powers, i really do. Every idiot can 4K with a Nurse, Blight or Spirit, but only good players can manage to destroy frequently a good SWF with a mediocre or even bad killer.
    • I dont care the slightest. In fact i appreciate those perks, they are pretty unique. Especially I love the new hooks. Interesting addition ot the game.
    • Sure, i could, but i dont want to. And even if Pinhead would be an upset (which he is not in my opinion) i would still buy him. Dont want to sound braggadocious but my video game collection probably costs more then a new car so at this point it does not even matter anymore if i waste another 10€ :D

I chose no killer should be banned because while I understand spirit is really hard to play against and she needs a bit of counter play but people should be able to play who they want no matter what. I think banning certain killers is ridiculous and besides if survivors had that option then killers should also be able to ban certain survivors too. I also know what allowing people to ban each other would destroy the game. Basically what I’m saying is again people should play who they want to play as killer or survivor.

    @MadLordJack said:

A killer's design isn't the fault or problem of the people who play the killer and they shouldn't be prevented form having fun in a casual game because of it.

I disagree. If lets say a killer is hated by 99% of the community and only 1% likes him or her, this killer should indeed be reworked or removed. The opinion of the majority weights more then the opinion of just a few, isnt it?

Just because a killer excists does not mean he is fine.

  • Deathslinger or Twins, those 2 stinkers are very unhealthy for the game. I would let the coin decide which one to go.

  • Huntress is fun

    Trickster is okay

    Deathslinger is disgusting

  • Looks good, plays bad. Not quite as bad as RCPD but worth deleting.

  • If you want people to read your text, use paragraphs. Otherwise it is tiering to read.

Topic: You speak from your experience which i can not share. I played against countless very nice and fair Leatherface players and I also play him frequently. Never have i never camped with him or tunnel and also never used noed on him.

  • Weak and stay weak. I love weak killers in general, its so much more fun earning a win with something like Trapper instead of mowing them down easily with Nurse.

    1) What counts as a 'win?'

    2) Will we ever know what factors are taken into account?

Peanits actually answered your question without directly answering it.

In the past a win was to escape the trial, now they changed that. So it has to be game progress, just like a pip.

Interesting would be if they also take specific chase scenarios into account. For example, it is much more difficult to hold a killer when a different survivor has already used all the resourced. I doubt they have something like that, but it would be in my opinion a needed feature on how to rate actual skill.
