Or maybe the goal is to have a balanced killer roster where you actually need to think strategically with your power to win? That’s what happened to Spirit. She’s still good, you just need to use your brain a lot more.

No, that’s not what happened. Without mother-daughter/bow tie, survivors know exactly where she is at all times and can play 100% safe on most pallets. There aren’t any skillful mindgames. Spirit is dead

  • Because you said that balancing around the .1% is a bad idea, yet you agree that Nurse needs to be nuked. Nurse’s kill rates are the lowest in the game, which shows that she is fine for the vast majority. Therefore nerfing her would be balancing around the best players. Do you not see how this is hypocritical?

Across all players is right, and that's what counts, because all players are playing this game.

You don't balance around the top 0.1%.

And yes Bubba having the 2nd highest kill rate makes complete sense, they specialise is camping and practically guarantee at least a 2K.

So we should balance Nurse around the elite who use her, but survivor should be balanced around scrubs. Yea, sounds fair

Oh yes, nurse have been giving us these "tips" for almost 5 years, and yet not Even comp survs are able to counter a good/comp nurse.

I Guess only killers get good with time and survivors players don't cause they lack a brain (using your logic)

Yall don't make threads yet cause devs haven't announced her nerf, yall just keep refreshing the dbd forum page looking for a nurse thread that doesnt Fit your agenda, so You can call the 5 nurses here and tell us how ""balanced"" she is

No, more like survivors are used to having the game catered to them, which means they don’t have to adapt. Sorry you’re spoiled

Just like the 5 nurses come from the Woods with their multi acc to defend their op toy (which lets aceppt it, it's gonna get nerfed for sure, when? No one knows)

We don’t make threads panicking about her getting nerfed. We come into alarmist threads to provide perspective and tips against her. Of course, people would rather panic than learn so yea

I would love to see a full match of these advocates juking a gawd tier Starstruck/Infectious fright nurse. No body blocking. Just witnessing them using her “counterplay.” Actual GOOD nurse players with over 1.5K hours.

If someone did this, you would just discredit the Nurse as bad. It’s lose-lose. Either the survivor gets “exposed” or the killer is bad. Why would anyone post a video?

Yes, but the acceptance of said LGBT people is an entirely different issue, and one that is VERY political. I am not denying their existence, I am affirming the existence of cultural and ideological barriers that make accepting their existence harder inside certain cultural spheres.

Which is why BHVR should be as inclusive as possible. Not sure if this is controversial, but none of the cultures that reject queerness have any validity whatsoever. I don’t care where you live; nobody has the right to dissuade you from being yourself.

Freddie's snares are so underrated. People just play him terribly and don't know where to use snares. Freddie's pallets are ok in mid mmr but high mmr they suck. But yeah snares are basically more controlled clown bottles

His snares are worthless against good survivors. They see him put them down/run early, and hold W. He essentially has no power other than the teleport at this level. The upcoming changes might help him, but there is no question he is a bottom 5 killer. He also has the worst addons in the game

  • @Mandy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3048197#Comment_3048197

No it doesn't work that way

If you've got any experience of playing killer, your MMR on other killers would never be in the super low range - as whilst you might be new to a specific killers power, you still have game and map knowledge. Hence you do have different MMR scores for various killers that you use - however, it might not be much difference.

If you look at the graphs we've shown previously the majority of the player base is in the mid MMR ranges, so it stands to reason that their different killers are also within that range, maybe some slight differences overall.

Why then can you not switch killers in a lobby? That change was sold as good because MMR would be separate for each killer. You have just confirmed that there is only slight variation, making the locked killer thing pointless. We should be allowed to switch.

Every killer has a chance against skilled survivors and SWF. Stop using Ms. Fundamentally Broken as an excuse for being bad with other killers.

Spirit trolls are just the same nurse players. And if those pretty easy to master strategies work, why do nurses still 4k and when people apply them they dont work? If those strategies work why is nurse still the 4k stomper of tournaments?

And if u lose against players of "same skill" as yours, maybe you're not as good as you think you are?

Or, people of equal skill have matches that can go either way. That’s how it should be. It should not be trapper getting curbstomped because the game’s mechanics make it literally impossible to win. Not sure what tournaments you watch, but Nurse gets 2k in the big one ive seen

I have probably more hours on Killer alone than many others in DBD in total. Including all Killers on P3-50 with all Perks.

Well you listed already enough stuff that kinda ridicules your own point so I would stop already if I were you

Spirit and Undying were stupidly busted, PH and Deathslinger were extremely unhealthy for the game and PH arguably still is with one of the strongest tunneling potentials in the game (Deathslinger wasn't strong, just unhealthy. If the devs can't design a decent power it's not the survivors fault). Nobody cried about pop when it was nerfed, and the nerf wasn't even in its base %, it was in its timer, so nothing pretty much changed. Ruin was reworked into something arguably better than the og version and it had nothing to do with "survivors crying".

Literally everything i listed has had a topic on the forum. Crying

Seems to be most people that play DBD have a wrong opinion. You can check any nerf nurse thread to see only nurses defend her OP toy.

Most survivor thing got nerfed just by killers opinion, I don't see why this can't apply to the other side

Things unfairly nerfed because of survivor crying:

    -deathslinger

    -pyramid head

    -ruin

    -pop

    -spirit

    -undying

    Should I continue?

It shouldn't be balanced around "tournament" players either.

If you’re worse than the person you’re playing against, you should lose 100% of the time. Nurse is the only killer that can legitimately force the survivors to show their skills. Every other killer can be looped/have their time wasted before being able to do anything.

  • @RisingTron said:

    Tournaments lol.

When are y'all gonna realize that every player in the world isn't a tournament (can't even say it without laughing, sorry.) player.

So let me guess. That top tournament Nurse player was going against 4 other tournament survivors who were running full meta builds and were on comms? Right, right.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3036406#Comment_3036406

If not for a couple of Blight's add-ons. He is actually one of the more fun killers to go against ngl. He's actually interactive in a way that can be fun.

Yea, everyone was probably good and running meta stuff. The game shouldn’t be balanced for people who don’t learn the game.

  • @KerJuice said:

Yea I just accept my fate. I roll my eyes every time it’s an infectious fright/Starstruck nurse. Someone is GUARANTEED to DC or suicide on hook. And the nurse will have her best add-ons and not let her foot off the gas for even 1 second. She knows it’s a chill lobby, but she floors it regardless. It’s like these people have to stay on point and ready, just in case they get a 4 man SWF Bully squad in the next match. 🙄

yea man, imagine trying to win in a pvp game. So toxic!

  • I think the pallets on maps should be halved tbh. It’s way too forgiving

  • The problem is, skill doesn’t matter much with most killers. Most of them have to eat strong loops and basically waste time until the pallet there is gone. These kind of comments always make me laugh because, outside of Nurse, the game doesn’t care much about skill; it’s all about map and tile memorization.

  • @Khelendrose2020 said:

The truth of the matter is the top tier players, not those who think they are, but those who really are, cannot support this game. That's right, there are not enough of them, period.

It somewhat amazes me how this elitist movement in video games has really spread over the past 30 years. 99% of the online games out there are vastly supported financially by the casual fan and middle of the road performer. If a company caters to the top 1 to 3%, they lose in most cases.

DbD is a casual party game. It is not a competitive esport style game. (Don't try selling me a pile of rocks by describing the competition aspects of the game, Go Fish has competitive aspects but I don't see million dollar tournaments and ESPN 8 covering it.) There is zero reason to cater to the top 1%.

Oh, and what is up with the person who claimed that casual players in this game don't have the skills to play this game? Talk about the most bloated statement I may have ever heard on this site, that may be it. Do you go to the beach and judge whether children's sand castles are up to par as well? Maybe go knock over a backgammon table at the nursing home as well for their lack of skills. Seriously, this is a joke game meant for jump scares and fun. Take a breathe, your elite status is recognized by nobody who cares. lol

Again, if none of this matters, then why nerf any killer or survivor tactic? The pure and simple truth is that people want to win and feel badass without having to try. To which i’d say, play a single player game. You’re not entitled to win against someone who has been playing longer.

Everyone was new once, even if you're an absolute legend now. Ignoring the problems that new players face is the fastest way to make them quit the game out of frustration before they can build up some experience. That's not to say we should balance solely around new players, but often times their feedback can highlight where the onboarding (teaching a new player the game) could be better. More often than not, this comes down to improving the feedback while playing against something rather than balance changes.

But ignoring anyone's opinions just because they're not as good as you is never the answer. Elitism doesn't help anyone. The game's for everyone, not just the top X%.

Except that most major developers do balance around top level of play. They do just fine and the games are better balanced

"It doesn't matter if you're at the top or in the middle, or even low. Your opinion still matters as much as anyone else."

This is a beautiful sentence with which I fully agree

How? Someone who doesn’t play much/ is just beginning doesn’t know what’s going on. Would you listen to someone’s opinion on architecture just because they started taking a basic class? Everyone’s word does not carry equal weight. That’s the reality. A survivor who plays 1-2 hours after work twice a week doesn’t know how to exploit jungle gyms or break free of pinhead chains; that doesn’t mean that these things are balanced or imbalanced. It means the survivor has no clue what’s going on. The game should not be balanced around players like that. Experienced players shouldn’t be punished for others.

  • You said her “killing statistic” needs to be balanced. The devs said kill rates across the board are too low. You are definitively wrong.

  • @legacycolt said:

And this is why the nurse needs a complete rework. Bhvr needs to make her power appealing to new and old players and balance her killing statistics. Her teleportation needs to go. She’s outdated game design and she makes people give up immediately. I see it every day in my solo q matches.

And I understand the people giving up against her because she IS overpowered.

except that the devs have publicly said kill rates are too low across the board. Try again

    @Omans said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3025748#Comment_3025748

Ah..that's too bad. There isn't a server with better players than the Korean one. Not sure where I should go.

Guess I'll have to wait until all the players who only play nurse bestow their wisdom of how to counter nurse on everyone.

I heard that you shouldn't run in a straight line against Nurse. And be unpredictable. Really good tips. Glad these players who only play nurse are letting us know how to play against Nurse. Otherwise, we would never know how.

Not sure if I need to add a /s or not..

And who says the Korean server is the best? Keep in mind, South Korea is about as big as the US state of Indiana. That would be like me saying that I'm a god because I beat people who live in my state. Not impressed.

  • @Omans said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3024350#Comment_3024350

I am quite open to being wrong. But this ain't it.

I have over 5000 hours in the game. I have been in about 5 tournaments. I have about equal time on killer and survivor. I play on the Korean server. So, there are a lot of Japanese nurses I have faced. They are known for being the best nurse players. Because the population on the Korean server is quite small I know most of the top players. Whether we all get into a match together and face these nurses, it doesn't matter. The nurse, if they want to win, will win.

    Twitch: omansonion

The response these nurse players say is that survivors just don’t know how to go against nurse. You'll see very quickly I know exactly what I am doing.

Go ahead. Take a look. I only play nurse when the viewers ask because she is so OP and it doesn't feel fair. But I do have some matches playing her in my highlights. If the survivor lineup is full of good players, all you have to do is put on Kavana and it is an easy win.

Just because you have put time into a character does not mean you deserve to dominate. This is not a single player game. I have more hours in Huntress than any other killer by far, but I don't expect to win every game. There are many survivors with equal playtime in their role as I do in mine. My chance of winning should be equal if I go against these survivors. Now, when nurse reaches a certain skill level, their chance of winning that match skyrockets compared to equally skilled survivors. This is not fair. It is the exact same with SWF. Both are super imbalanced.

Then i’d say the people you play against don’t play well against Nurse. Play outside of Korea and get back to me.

  • @HexPleaseLetMeSpeak said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3024356#Comment_3024356

"Several people" is not at all the majority, especially when a majority of killers all say the same thing. M1 killers suck, and maps are designed terribly.

Even I have good games with M1 killers. That doesn't mean all of a sudden they are good or that maps are well made.

This. Some Survivors have one or a few bad matches in a night against M1 killers and then declare those killers to be fine or, hilariously, OP. Killers can fall into this trap too. You can get on a roll with killers like pig or Trapper and feel strong, forgetting that, overall, these killers are weak.

  • @Omans said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3024135#Comment_3024135

Unprompted. I don't go around asking if nurse is OP. That would be like going around asking if the sky is blue. No point. Everyone except those who live in delusion already know the answer. But sure, they must be all dumb.

I'd love to see your nurse gameplay. It might help us all figure out why you hold the wrong viewpoint that nurse is in an acceptable state for balance.

I'm so curious to know if you are actually decent at nurse, and thus think that you should win an imbalanced number of games to help the "struggling" nurse's kill rate.

Or, are you not very good at her, and refuse to acknowledge that fact, rather thinking that nurse just isn't OP like everyone says.

How delusional can you be? In your view, I am either defending my kill rate or i’m bad. You are being completely disingenuous because you are clearly not open to being wrong.

  • @Ayamir said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3023899#Comment_3023899

You don't understand the issue here.

The majority of the playerbase are casuals most players started playing this game beceause of licenses being able to go against an iconic character like Pyramid Head or playing the dangerous Michael Myers is what makes this game unique.

A "competitive" killer like Nurse should not be in the game she's the only killer who just can do everything with 0 downsides if you're good with her most killers have flaws/weaknesses,what are the weaknesses of a veteran Nurse like Alf in public matches ?

Lerys and RPD that's all if you're good at Nurse you will stomp in every pubs games it's a fact SoloQ and even decent SWFs will lose against a decent nurse who is patient with her blinks and doesn't panic.

Now you were talking about a Comp DBD team you know that each of these guys have like 6-7k hours each and they also play Nurse they're the only team who have a chance of winning against a good Nurse,do you find this normal/acceptable ?

Nurse is broken in public matches,in comp matches where every players has 8k hours+ there might be a chance of winning against her, otherwise the killer is broken and needs to be nerfed.

I played against KnightLight's Nurse in public matches several times and he always stomped my SoloQ team it was just a miserable experience even Blight can't do this, having one sided games like this is just unhealthy for the game.

I hope you understand why Nurse is bad for the DbD playerbase.

I shouldn’t be punished for my experience and other players’ lack of experience.

I said against a "god" nurse. Are you genuinely this stupid or did you have to work for it? Honestly I'm impressed at this point.

Did you read the rest of the post? My point was that once she chased one of my teammates, she downed them in 10 seconds. From the scrub perspective of the forum, she would be considered a god nurse for those chases. It is thoroughly toxic people like you, who essentially think that Nurse can never guess wrong and that if she does, she is bad. Nurse seems as strong as she is because most survivors never learn how to vs her. Pre mmr especially, I would face a staggering number of people as Nurse who would still throw pallets and try to run in a straight line.

If you're incapable of understanding high level nurse play or the wider impact her presence has on the game that's your problem. You do not run nurses of that level the entire circle of the map unless it's something like Lery's. Never said there was no counterplay either so don't put words in my mouth or twist things. I said the counterplay falls off very quickly against "god" tier nurses and becomes more about generator efficiency than "running". However, If you have footage of you running these types of nurses (established competitive ones would be even better) we'll soon be able to tell.

I’m a Nurse main. I have no way of telling who is a “comp” player or not. My experience is my experience. It’s pretty funny that you’re mad about me talking about my experience.

No Killer has been nerfed to a point that they are unuseable, which happened with Iron Will.

Even Deathslinger, who got hit the hardest, is still not that bad.

Deathslinger is awful and a perfect example of what not to do. I get probably 1 Deathslinger every 30 matches as survivor. People will choose what works. You can’t argue against a low pick rate, that’s the reality

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

It does not really have counterplay. It just got dumped into being pointless. I would not call this counterplay.

Kinda like all of those previous killer nerfs that you endorse.

  • @ClarityOfWill said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3012432#Comment_3012432

Certainly and for average nurses that's fine. The problem here is that often the argument made against survivor strength with optimal, coordinated gameplay is based on their skill ceiling while ignoring that nurse represents the other end of that spectrum. The former can be adjusted via perk rebalancing, removal of addons, toning down of item strength and map re-adjustment. However, the issue with nurse is that even if you adjust these things her potential is still phenomenal due the nature of her power. To give an example, take Gas Heaven, a map where conceding specific gens all but guarantees a loss but for nurse she can still patrol due to blinking through the car walls. Something that is often overlooked.

Generally speaking, even in comp or with high level survivors the consensus is that you don't "run" a god nurse, you pick the best possible place to go down and hope your team is ruthlessly hammering the gens out. Most survivors and heck, even most swfs will not stand up to a nurse player that knows what their doing which doesn't make for especially interesting or balanced gameplay. With the value of hindsight, she was a bandaid solution (in typical BHVR fashion) to a problem that didn't need to exist in the first place (map balance, item balance etc.). Now that we're 6 years in, we have a killer that has a stranglehold on the following aspects of the game:

    • Map design/size (including Generator placement)
    • Item balancing
    • Perk design
    • Spawn mechanics

Again, as an example, take the last point in the above list. One of the popular ideas (and one I agree with) is that survivors should spawn together, which would benefit killers like Trapper, Hag, Pig etc. However, this would indirectly buff nurse due to the time loss on generator traversal, same as certain soloq buffs would indirectly buff very coordinated teams. Map's sizes have to account for her ability to effectively move around, including maps with verticality (I'm sure we've all seen the horror show of a double range nurse on Midwich for example). Dragons grip apparently couldn't be buffed due to issues with Nurse and the last perk that has some real nasty strength to it (starstruck) is disgustingly strong on her (particularly with agitation on small maps like the game). The point ultimately being is that if we want to look at the apex of survivor gameplay, particularly with the upcoming nerf to dead hard, then it's only fair we look at toning down nurse in a reasonable manner. The "counterplay" only works up to a certain point after which it becomes "do what you can, die in the corner and hope to god we can smash these gens out"

A lot of words that don’t say much, and you’re completely off base on there being no counterplay. Nurse has to guess against good survivors. As an example I have had many games in which I have circled the map in a chase against Nurse. This same Nurse downs my solo teammates in 10-15 seconds. So is this Nurse a god for downing them? Or are my teammates just not good against Nurse? You can’t nerf a killer because people refuse to try/learn.

  • @_VTK_ said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3018535#Comment_3018535

It's not about the skill of solo players, it's the synergy effect of SWF + comms that makes SWF survivors play better. Is that so hard to understand that a group of people playing together on cooms will always play better and seem to have higher skills that an uncoordinated group? Come on, even kids and killer mains should understand that.

I take that back, I'm not so sure about all killer-mains, judging by your reply.

It actually is more about the skill of solos. A competent team can still win without comms. The problem is that people are mad about the reality that in a team game, teammates can make you lose. You shouldn’t balance around that.

Logical fallacy. You only accept a nurse as good if they win. If they ever lose, they are bad. That’s such a negative and lousy mentality. I don’t care about the asian servers. I have seen good Nurses win and lose throughout every region.

Wouldn't it be too ill-considered to save this stuff for the next big update?

So the devs should look at top nurses, but for survivor, they should balance for bad players. I don’t know your history, so maybe you don’t think that, but this seems to be the mentality of people on the forum. People need to see that this is a double standard.

Okay, is Nurse the best killer in the game? Has she been the best killer for years?

You saying that’s why she hasn’t been touched is BS that you made up.

How is killrate compared to skill ceiling, as well as pickrate, meaningless? You can't say in game data is useless because BHVR doesn't want to look bad then discount what they give. You're trying to do the same thing when you said they don't make balance changes then you called Spirit and Deathslinger changes horrendous. Quite the run-around here.

it meaningless because you are making unsupported inferences.

I said that Nurse has the lowest kill rate at all ranks but is the best killer by far. That's problematic to game balance, any other game with a ranked system and balance changes would've tweaked this character. I've also said the only reason they haven't changed her is because she has the 5th highest pick rate as of the most recent data. As far as you and I are concerned, you haven't contributed anything of substance other than, quite frankly, whining about game balance from your own experiences as a killer. Your source is yourself and your evidence is four years experience lol.

Your point about killrate and best killer are meaningless. You saying that she hasn’t been changed because she is the 5th picked killer is also pure speculation based on nothing other than your gut instinct. How is that supposed to be at all compelling?

I challenge you to make an argument based off of any form of tangible evidence, not your four years of experience.

That's a total cop out and you know it. The devs don't provide much data because they don't want the game to look bad. You have also offered no evidence other than saying that I'm wrong.

Okay, let's circle back to the main point of my discussion post then, since we seem to agree. Is a meta dominated by two killers, mainly Nurse, not stale? Since we only see 2 killers at high MMR?

You’re missing the point….. the reason there are only two is because this game is broken. The game is linear and shallow; most killers don’t have the tools to end chases fast enough. Even Nurse, who can end chases in 15-20 seconds, still often runs out of time because of how fast gens go.

Everything you say in this thread is your opinion backed up by nothing but your own conjecture. It's like you only complain about the plights of a killer main about problems other people deal with just fine.

Except they don’t. There is a reason you see 2 killers at high mmr. Other killers don’t have a chance. That’s not conjecture, that’s 4 years of experience.

That's your opinion. Balance changes all the same. Can't say they don't make changes then disparage the ones they do. Quite hypocritical.

And what changes to survivor have they made that have had any impact? Maps still have an impossible number of tiles and pallets, along with indefensible gen spreads.
