So you're saying they may rework a perk, because that perk MIGHT help secure a 4k if I kill three people and then find and close the hatch first? Unlikely.

We'll have to wait and see. I'm not holding my breath

  • @Kaelum said:

To those saying otherwise, there is absolutely nothing in the video stating that the exits are powered once the hatch is closed. It may be true, but it is not stated in the video. You can watch it as many times as you like, specifically the 0:30 through 0:40 segment, but it doesn’t say what many of you are assuming.

All of the generators get blocked. It would be impossible for the last guy to escape of the gates didn't power up. The endgame collapse would be completely unnecessary in that case, may as well just kill the last guy if that happens.

  • @Boss said:

The point is to not have it last forever.

It's the same reason why you can wiggle on the Killer's shoulder.

If you CAN wiggle, the Killer will take a nearby hook, otherwise you'll wiggle off.

But if you CAN'T wiggle, the Killer could just take you to the best hooks everytime, or even just keep you on the shoulder and keep you hostage.

The timer is purely to just not give the endgame the potential to last WAY too long.

We know why it exists. The point being made is why the timer moves slower when the survivors are downed/hooked instead of normal speed. The game lasts LONGER when someone is down during endgame. The reason is to give the Survivors more time to save the other guy, but at the same time, the timer remaining the same would help the Killer out much more.

Basically the slower timer exists just because it would probably be nearly impossible to save someone within 3 minutes if the Killer hard camps. It's pretty much impossible anyway unless you make some really cheeky moves.

  • @Huntar said:

The issue with the last change, which was fixed this time, was that there was no incentive to play the game any further once it was closed. Since there was no incentive and no timer, survivors would just find a corner to hide in and drag the game out for as long as possible to punish the killer for winning. With the timer and the exit gates getting powered, the survivors have to either work to get out, or just accept that they'll die in a few minutes.

Very true. This is the main point of this whole change, to eliminate the standoff scenario. As long as the Killer as time to make it to one of the gates in 20 seconds, this should be a fine change. Just better hope you don't get the tail side of that coin flip lol

  • I agree, I think the slower timer isn't really necessary. But I think the game is assuming the Killer is gonna camp it out, which he probably will. Leaving a hook when the gates are powered is a pretty stupid move.

Why would they rework Remember Me? It makes exit gates slower to open, that just means it'll take longer to trigger the collapse during the end game.

The collapse triggers if the hatch gets closed regardless if the gates are opened. This would make it nearly impossible to open the gates if the Killer closes the hatch and has full Rememeber Me tokens.

    They may rework it.

  • @NuclearBurrito said:

    *Survivor camps the exit gate

Remember me: I'm going to end this mans whole career

Also you can't guarantee Remember Me will be the same. They've already said many endgame perks are getting reworked, but NOED is one that isn't changing.

  • @NuclearBurrito said:

Anyways. What I would do is if the Killer is camping the hatch is complete again and then

Case A: He stays at the hatch when the gen pops, do more gens until the gate opens

Case B: He closes the hatch when the gen pops, go into hiding immediately and then go for the gates ASAP

Case B: He goes to the gen without closing the hatch, hop in the hatch

    BTW it basically is:

Step 1: Find the hatch, if the Killer isn't there I leave otherwise:

    Step 2: Do a generator

Step 3: If the collapse hasn't started yet check on the hatch location and repeat step 1, otherwise:

Step 4: Go into hiding, make my way to a gate, open it and leave.

Yeah, I've always repaired gens when the Killer camps the hatch. On second thought it might not be too bad. Trapper definitely has a nasty endgame now, it may be near impossible to defeat Trapper as the last guy if he has the gates set up early.

if there are only 1 or none gens done when you're the only one left then there is still no hatch spawning or did they change it now with the new collapse?

It opens up when there is 1 Survivor regardless of how many gens are left.

  • @Jimsalabim said:

Still a 50/50 he comes for the right one. 20s opening time = 92m for the killer to walk.

If he guesses right, he will find you before you open the gates. Would be better to wait out the killer at the gate and then open it.

Not very practical for slow Killers, and even regular speed Killers take more than 20 seconds to get to the other side of a large map in the event the hatch spawns far away.

  • The hatch should still only spawn when 2 gens are completed.

As it stands, the last Survivor can just camp a gate and wait for the Killer to close the hatch, powering the gates for him.

The standoff simply changed locations, they didn't fix it.

I totally agree. But this will make solo even worse than it is now.

No it doesn't. It makes it way easier. Now you just camp a gate and wait for the Killer to power it up for you by getting impatient and closing the hatch.

    Ez win

  • @Vlieger said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/427170#Comment_427170

Killers needed a buff to the hatch stand off as it has always been survivor sided. This is swinging it more to the killers favor, but it is at least more balanced than it was.

The standoff is just gonna happen with the Killer at the hatch, and the Survivor at a gate. The Killer is gonna wait for the Survivor to try and approach, while the Survivor also waits for the gates to be powered.

It's just optimal for the Survivor to camp the gates at this stage. Doing a gen will reveal your location. Safest bet is to just camp and wait for the Killer to get impatient.

  • How will the Endgame deal with Survivors simply camping the exit gate and waiting for the Killer to close the hatch? If the Killer risks looking at a gate, the last Survivor may run for the hatch, but if the Killer closes it, the camping Survivor freely gets out.

Now we have a new standoff, the Hatch/Gate standoff where the Killer and last Survivor stay far away from each other. Survivors will just camp the gate and wait for the Killer to get impatient and power the gate FOR them. This still gives survivors a free win.

Unless they like putting the exit gates so close together they are easy to patrol. Since the timer doesn't start until a gate opens anyway this is still a means the game could be 'held hostage'. I personally liked having three possible exit routes.

The timer starts when the Killer closes the hatch. Did you even watch the video?

  • @Milo said:

    1. The end game collapse timer seemed to start as soon as the killer closed the hatch thus powering up the gates. This is gonna be really hard for survivor it would seem
    2. To give them a chance to help their teammates. It still does the thing "forcing survs out".

    1. It isn't gonna be hard on him when he sits at an exit gate waiting for the last mate to die and for the Killer to close the hatch for him, GIVING him the exit gate escape. See what I'm saying?

PLEASE give us a totem counter then. You're punishing solo survivors

As a solo Survivor, please stop using this "you're punishing solo survivors" bullcrap.

  • As a Survivor main, these changes are amazing. There was a time before DS existed, and this was one of the best times in the game. Please, do not listen to the scare tactics of people saying you are "losing the Survivor fanbase" or that "you are ruining the game."

This will ultimately be a great change for the life of the game. DS provided too much benefit for requiring absolutely 0 skill to pull off. Now it requires tactics and a stipulation before it can be used, as well as a consequence.

Survivors have been comfortable for far too long and now they can't imagine a game that actually challenges them. Great change guys. Keep it up.
  • 4% baseline chance (without using offerings/perks) to free yourself per unhook attempt.
Basically 4% chance to get a free second chance. Some people will fight until they are blue in the face that this is "fine/balanced" but just imagine the hate that would pour into the forums if killers had a 4% chance to instantly put someone into phase 2 when hooked for the first time.

Yknow normally I would agree the Survivors are pretty unbalanced, but the self unhook is not one of them.

It's a 4% chance, you still advance a stage on the hook regardless, and if you actually unhook yourself on the attempt that WOULD have put you into stage 2 (i.e., the third attempt, or one RIGHT before you go to struggle), then you simply die on your 2nd hook and you skip the struggle phase.

It's fine. It really doesn't happen that often. I've played close to 1k hours and I'd say I've unhooked myself maybe, MAYBE close to 40 or 50 times.
  • Gen rushing is a problem that needs addressing.

Camping and tunneling though? Sorry, but you already can do a million things to prevent yourself from getting hooked. The Killer can't do much to stop a gen rush unless they are Nurse.
  • He's pretty solid if you are good at movement prediction.

People will argue he sucks. These people are probably Freddy players or something.
  • Why is "immersed" used as a negative connotation for stealth players?

There's a huge difference in someone who hides in a corner like a coward and a player who utilizes stealth to smartly avoid the Killer, which you could do yourself in the event your team is being a bunch of cowards.

Instead of being a distraction, just play MGS style and go after the gens yourself. What my team does is irrelevant to my success.

At the end of the day, I usually survive and escape without ever needing to engage the Killer unless he finds me having around 2 gens done or so.

OP: Has to run Bond and sandbag because he can't stealth around the Killer and do the gens himself.
  • I think their joy stems from you coming to the forums and making salt posts about being beaten by a better player.

You get hooked = Killer was better than you

No it doesn't. The original "flick" meant that and the END of the charge, Billy could basically full 360 and hit anyone even if they curved behind him.

He's always been able to turn sharply at the start of the charge. At some point this became known as the new "flick" even though he's had it since Day 1.
  • I come back and I see the usual weak ass arguments to continue to justify breaking the balance.

    "Split the playerbase"

    "Long queue times"

"nOt eVeRy sWf pLAyS lIkE tHiS"

I've already explained how you could make the dodge system work if you split the queues so that people stop dodging. I've also explained how I want the SWF mode to be a unique 5v5 experience, but all the SWF hand holders continue to clasp their ears with the same nonsense.

"I sHoUlnDT bE pUnIsHeD fOr pLaYinG wItH fRiEndS"

No, you should be punished for being a major contributing factor to why the game's balance is a complete shitshow.
  • I wish the playtime we put into the game before the update counted.

  • You did exactly what you needed to in order to win. You were actively doing objectives, no matter how slow you were doing it. You were making sure the Killer didn't find you and clearly he hates stealthy Survivors.

I'm proud to see someone else in this game has the capability of pulling off what you did, I too have the last gen achievement, and I did it with 3 gens left. My Killer was actually having a ton of fun trying to find me though.

He's just salty you bodied him.

It isnt bannable, did you even read the thread? Pointing out teammates isn't working with the Killer, it's throwing them under the bus so you can escape.

Now if you die and add the Killer to tell him where your team is, or load into the game with a Killer planning to ruin the game for everyone else, then yes that is bannable.

Because they clarified this in a Stream once before. You're being opportunistic and finding a chance to escape, you DON'T have to work with your team, the store description straight up says "work with your team, or don't." Body blocking teammates so they die and YOU can get away is also a valid strategy.

You aren't actively working with the Killer if he's also trying to Kill you. It's quite obvious when someone is working with the Killer and when they are trying to escape, mostly because teamers don't tend to harm each other and the Killer usually let's his buddy survive.

If I see you go into a locker and the Killer is trying to kill me, if I point at the locker to give you away, that isn't "working with the Killer." It's the same concept if we were running away from a group of Zombies, and then I trip you so they eat you instead and allow me to get away.

    Scummy? Yes. Bannable? No.
Ok and judging by this event most people don't like this.

In fact survivors playing like this puts you at a massive disadvantage as a solo survivor so you might as well just stick to SWF.....then killer mains cry because SWF are far more powerful due to voice comms and strategy.

I still think they need to drop this playing against each other idea and encourage more teanwork.
If they don't like it they can get over it or play another game. I'm a solo survivor so dont sit here and act like this negatively affects me, it doesn't. I could care less about my team and they are irrelevant to my survival, unless I get hooked, but if I don't get hooked in the first place it's not an issue.

I bought this game when it came out for the solo experience. If they make this game more team oriented I'll permanently leave and never come back honestly.
    Ok ans that's fine.

I'm on the opposite end if it ever becomes more like this event then I'll stop playing. There's nothing more boring than waiting for your team to die so you can get the hatch.
Nothing is stopping you from trying to save. I've gotten plenty of clutch saves on survivors that are being camped, as long as it isn't face camping.

I play this game without perks. It's easy enough as it is.

so what is ur perk build and items?

Typically I run Sprint Burst (some may say this is a nooby perk, hear my build out first though), Stake Out, Resilience and some random 4th perk like Urban Evasion or something. I like Stake Out because it counters Ruin and Resilience let's you vault faster while injured so it's actually super clutch.

However, that said I have played from Rank 17 all the way to Rank 1 using no perks at all and having the top score on my team a majority of my matches. Survivor is just kinda braindead to me.

True that. I use it in hopes survivors can be smart about the plays they make. All we can do is hang around and hope.

If the Killer is chasing you, and you see a Dwight enter a locker and you point him to the Killer to save yourself, that isn't "working with the Killer." It's sandbagging your teammate to save your own ass.

But as far as your case, yes that is bannable. He directly added the Killer to work with him. Screw that guy.
  • It is supposed to mean you are getting camped, this is what people wanted to spread around at the beginning of the game.

It got confusing after a dude made a thread saying "long waves mean camping, short waves mean save me." What is long to others could be short to some and vice versa.

Just wave if he's camping, if not, stay still.

Because it isn't that serious. Exclusive items are padding to get returning players back without addressing the issues of the game.

  • Stop worrying about your team. At the end of the day, if they aren't straight up body blocking you or hook farming you, your survival is entirely dependent on YOU and YOU alone. If I can repair 3 gens as the last dude, you can too.

Bad teammates are supposed to be a part of the game. You really only are supposed to rely on your team in very specific circumstances, and even saving them off a hook is more beneficial to you than it is to them, as it possibly keeps the Killer's attention away from you so that you may survive instead, and you'll have someone who may decide to "repay the favor" in the event that you also get hooked.

The Survivors can repair up to 50% and then must install a part. Once the part is installed, the Killer CANNOT regress that generator below 50% anymore. Also make it so whenever a Survivor goes down they drop the part if they are holding one.
