To me what can make it the most frustrating is that there is very little a solo player can do about it. While it's certainly not bullet proof for the SWF, it is FAR easier to coordinate rescuing someone being camped. Just another thing that SWF gives you an advantage to over solo.
I am generally someone who will still try to grab the camped but it's amazing how often I'll go in for the unhook and get the killer to quasi-chase me and hit me, giving someone else a chance to grab the hooked but then nobody goes in for the save. They still just crouch nearby waiting for...a written invitation? I have no idea what the hell they're doing...
Also, give the camped some G D points BHVR. At least make it bearable for them as they can at least score some BP for sitting there AND it'll give solo players a reason to stay hooked when they're being face camped. While I won't leave a game because I'm being face camped because I'm not a selfish jerk, a lot of solos will just kill themselves up there because they have no reason to waste four minutes of their life to help out three complete strangers trying to hammer gens as fast as humanly possible...

This isn't true about RPD, in fact, I've seen it spawn on the third floor at the library! RPD is truly a map where it's game on to find the hatch because it can literally spawn anywhere on that map. :/
Yeah, someone above pointed it out. I had never seen it spawn elsewhere but it sounds like RPD it'll spawn wherever :(

Just had a match earlier today where the hatch was on the second floor of RPD. I heard it but I was on the first floor, and the killer picked me up and brought me up to the second floor to get to it. They were so confused too
Huh. Maybe they changed it for RPD as the hatch has never spawned on a higher floor in any other map. Good to know though
-
If it is a two story place (like The Game, Midwich, RPD, etc), the hatch will always spawn on the first/bottom floor (basically always downstairs, never upstairs). That removes a lot of the area to search for if you are nearing the end game.
EDIT: I have not seen it myself but two people have pointed out that the RPD map evidently does not abide by this rule. Every other map to my knowledge still does but RPD I guess has found a way to make itself even worse than it already is :P

Not super Cotton
I seem to be the only one who is using the cake and then am getting tunneled out of the game (and unlike the event, I can't replace these stupid things). Or in these last two games case, people are just DC'ing and I'm pissing away my cakes.
Then on the killer side, I have only played the one game as that pallet BS irked me so much that I'm not sure I plan on playing killer again until they sort their ish out.
I'm actually done until Saturday now most likely (Doggo sitting and it's not worth packing up my Xbox and everything for two days) so maybe it'll be better this weekend. Probably not but I can dream...
-
Just do what I do and don't go to the exit gates. If the survivors want to stand around and have a circle jerk about how awesome they are, go nuts guys. I either find things like walls or pallets to break or just wander around aimlessly.
Hell, once in a blue moon they'll get overly cocky and I'll take one down when they get cute and leave the gate to try to mock me to my face...

Here's some insight from a dev that can also be helpful, as I've seen people saying to make them not scream, and this explains why that's not feasible.
Goody, so we're going with "sucks to be you, get used into it" reasoning.
So with all the other balls in the air killers have to juggle, "did that scream because I smacked the survivor actually count as a hit" is getting tossed in there too because now we can't even rely on what we see and hear to be what's happening.
I'm gonna be blunt DBD Dev guy on the stream; if this is just now going to be something killers just have to deal with because you can't or won't figure out an actual fix, I'm probably done. Red Ranks is frustrating enough as it is and now having to play a game of "Did I actually hit the survivor?" every time I swing at them is just one frustrations too many on the pile...
-
@OldHunterLight said:
This happens really often with huntress, you can see the blood, you can hear the hit but they are untouched.
So yeah, you are just getting bhvr'ed.
I kind of accepted it with Plague since it constantly happens with her (where the survivor screams and reacts to getting hit with her vomit but then nothing happens).
I don't know if I can handle the plague experience with every killer though 😅
-
If the killer JK LOL fake pallet hit thing is going to consistently happen during the event, there's a very good chance you'll see no cakes from me.
I can't play killer with that happening (without wanting to figuratively snap my disc in half) and all of my cakes are on killers so...
Sorry gang 😅

Ain't that the truth lol Hooks are currently playing the barrel fire ambiance for some unknown reason.
Yeah, Hooks have always made funny noises (did they fix having the hook whimpering like a survivor after you sacrificed someone? I'm so used to it that I'm not even sure if it was ever fixed) but usually that at least is just mildly annoying rather than game breaking ðŸ˜
-
@kisfenkin said:
I'm glad they are trying to fix this, by having the server check the timing. He threw the pallet before you swung your fist. He hits you, you don't get a hit.
Use your tentacle.
I have no problems with that. If I was hit with the pallet before I swung, fair play.
What is infuriating to me is hearing the hit on the survivor as they scream, getting an injured marker on them, and then the game saying JK LOL
Especially against a good looper when I FINALLY landed a damn blow on them only for the game to give me the bird.
Based on the few responses in this thread, it sounds like this is a normal thing right now, not just a one off from my particular game. Which might mean I need to put the blade away for the time being as Red Ranks are already a special kind of hell at times for killers, throwing salt into the wound like this is going to do nothing but piss me off and that's not very healthy...
-
@PalletsAndHooks said:
The new pallet system is here to stay. It's alot less unfair than the old system. See above video on previous system and tell me if this looks fair at all @tippy2k2
That's not fair either (I play both sides pretty regularly so I'm well aware of how bad it could be on Survivor side too) but breaking it for The Killer Side isn't exactly the fix I was hoping for either...
-
@PalletsAndHooks said:
Theyre updating the system soon so that it won't play the animation/sounds if the hit doesn't register. Some mod said it was being sent to devs.
Once they update it with the new validation it'll look smoother and feel cleaner both ways.
Good God I hope so
Playing Red Ranks can be frustrating enough but thinking I got a hit and the game going LOL JK is red haze infuriating. It was bad enough with that "grab LOL JK no you didn't!!!" but I could at least work around that by just not going for grabs and just swinging like normal.
How BHVR manages to take one step forward and then five steps backwards every time they try to fix something is absolutely baffling...
-
...while I agree with your ultimate point that calling it a vaccine doesn't make sense, if someone sees a video game call something a vaccine and decides "Well I'm not sick with anything IRL, why would I get any vaccine since according to DBD, only people currently infected need it", that person was beyond hope to begin with.
-
I can think of three potential explanations for it, two which are very unlikely to happen but you never know...
- The killer is worried one survivor is going to DC, giving the other survivor the Hatch since there would be no delay in the Hatch opening (which is why they stood on the hatch)
- The hook placements and/or perks you may have had made the killer worried one or both of you would ultimately wiggle away if they picked you up
- The killer was being a jerk
-
I'm indifferent as I use the perks I use and don't switch up when I see certain things in the lobby
All you do against me at least is activate Sweaty Tippy mode. All of my normal "sportsman" rules with not tunneling or camping or slugging are no longer in play if you switch to a last second key or something like that. If you want to dirty pool, let's dirty pool. Fudge around and find out. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Etc etc.
-
If you want even a remote chance at being useful playing as a solo player, Kindred is virtually a must
You having bad teammates who aren't doing anything is unrelated to Kindred and how useful it is
-
By your own description, the Elodie did nothing but hide and do nothing for the team.
There's a very real chance that the killer never found the Elodie in order to hook them. You can argue all you want that you want the killer to go find the Elodie but if she's literally just hiding, as a killer ignoring the three active participants to play a game of Hide & Go Seek with the hider is a recipe to lose very quickly.
It sucks for the three survivors playing that your fourth is being a useless turd but I'm not sure why this is the killers fault and not Elodie's fault for just hiding all game...
-
But hooking people is how I show my love :,(
-
I'm going to go out on a limb and expect that if the killer is replaced with a bot, you wouldn't get any BP from it since you'd have to go into the game with the intention of playing against an AI and if there's anything BHVR hates, it's survivors getting BP for some reason.
Though I don't even think this game would be worth playing personally against AI. There'd be no point to it if all I was doing was beating a computer in a Player versus Player game but that might just be me.
-
Nope!
I don't like playing Spirit as I never really got a hang of using her powers. I'm sure if I actually worked at it a little bit, I'd be able to start 4King everybody like everyone else seems to be able to do with her but I just don't really care for her or her powers.
-
Yup. I'm actually looking forward to it ending for that very reason. My stupid Tippy brain isn't smart enough to just stop cause I know now is the time to try to help the grind but it's becoming more a job than fun...
Stupid Tippy brain

I play Nemesis pretty often right now (I Have a butt-ton of cakes for him right now because I was leveling him up as this event started and with his ability to tentacle strike his own crew, he's an easier character to get to high BP since Deviousness can be a tricky one to get for many killers).
I have had the zeds injure maybe a handful of survivors and I had a zed take down one survivor who played a loop so poorly that it was absolutely on that survivor (basically I used the zed to corral her into a corner loop on Midwich but when I hit her, instead of going anywhere, she ran right back into the loop where the zed hit her to infect her and then she ran right back into the loop. One is understandable but how you manage to trap yourself two more times after is almost commendable).
Far more often I'll see the zeds standing two feet away from survivors looking off into the distance as they realize they shouldn't have taken their family for granted and now they regret it. Really the only good thing about the zeds as Nemesis is their ability to be trackers for me as if I don't know where anyone is and a zed is attempting to give someone a hug, I at least know a survivor is in the area probably.
Ruin/Undying combo has an actual effect on the game and what I can and can't do as a survivor. The zeds are glorified traffic cones that give you an ouchy once in a blue moon when you're forced to run into one because the killer is on you and you can't go anywhere else.
-
You get one First Impression. You blow it (or in DBDs case, you constantly blow it as every chapter seems to release as a dumpster fire), that's going to be the impression that sticks with the majority of your consumer base.
-
I wouldn't cause I'm not a tattoo guy.
BUT if I were, I really like the probably boring answer but well designed logo (the Four skulls Roman Numeral thing).
I've always thought that was cool as hell.
-
Hey and they waited until their (alleged) fix to do it too! That was nice of them to remember that a good chunk of their user base is kind of dead in the water right now :D
-
I kind of hope we get a break before they do that
This is probably weird as hell but my stupid reptile brain sees limited time cake and wants to keep grinding at the game, even when it isn't all that much fun anymore. If I don't play now, I'll get less cake! Gotta keep playing even though it stopped being fun and feels more like a job three matches ago...
Stupid Tippy reptile brain...
-
I want a fair and competitive match, not compensation for being a punching bag.
@DelsKibara nailed it above me so no real reason for me to rehash it but worse. Just read their post.

It's what is always going to be a problem with the perk. Against an average survivor, the perk might not matter all that much. It'll save them a few seconds, maybe an extra loop if they really time it right
But against a Red Rank Survivor who REALLY knows what they're doing, the perk can be downright devastating. I've gone against survivors who have essentially gotten an extra 30+ seconds from it because I FINALLY almost had them in my grasp only for them to DH their way to the next pallet, drop it, and then hope into the next loop again.
The biggest problem is going to be finding a way to nerf that part without downright killing the perk and to be honest, I'm not sure there is a way to do that. There are ALWAYS going to be survivors who know every little trick to maximize perks. DH just happens to be an easy target for killer rage since unlike the other exhaustion perks, you can just DH whenever you feel like it so there's no real need to worry about setting it up properly.
-
Even if the code did let them (which I doubt it does), how does it differentiate between a low end PC that is crashing because BHVR has blown off this problem for twoish years and a high end PC user who doesn't like that the killer found them first?
To be blunt, BHVR has made this bed themselves. They've blown this off for years and now it's finally REALLY starting to affect the game. It went from a "This is super inconvenient how crappy this game runs right now" to "This game can't run right now". BHVR had plenty of time to fix this up but instead they just kept ignoring it and ignoring the users who kept telling them this was going to eventually catch up to them and now they're Shocked Pikachu Face that it caught up with them and EVERYBODY gets to pay the price for their mistakes...
-
*Weird Finger Snapping Applause like you see on TV and Movies when they do poetry slams*
-
I'm not going to pretend or try to understand it. Some just want to blow through a match ASAP, even when slowing down even a little bit would get everyone way more points.
-
I've used it a bunch on Nemesis as I unlocked perks but ultimately it just doesn't seem all that good...
I'm either steamrolling the survivors (in which case I don't need it cause I'm already steamrolling the survivors) or the chases take too long and gems are popped before I take anyone down (rendering it useless).
Like many of the lower tier perks, there are situations where it'll save the game for me but those are few and far between and not worth the perk spot for.
-
I'd love it too (especially during the event when I'm trying specifically NOT to death hook anyone) but BHVR seems to only want us to have overall hook count so *shrug*
-
I bet those jerks didn't even have the decency to Boop your Snoot!
Damn survivors these days...
-
I'd dare say I don't give...and may I be forgiven by whatever God(s) you may believe in...I don't give SIX poos about my rank.
*The Entity Strikes Tippy down with Lightning*
-
I'd much rather have a fair game. I don't give two poos about my rank...
-
I don't think he's OP. I do think he's incredibly boring to play against (which isn't something I hold against the killers playing as him). There's very little you can do about him with his cloaking speed boost and any Wraith worth their bell will block windows or things you can actually use against him as they decloak.
Just doesn't seem to be a whole lot you can do against him unless you happen to be around a bunch of pallets, which just makes him boring to go again.
-
Constantly :D
WhyCantIQuitYou.jpg
Edit: Should put in a "why", eh? While there are games that are actually close and great, I've found more and more at high ranks that you are curb stomping your opponents or you are getting a curb stomping. The "That was close, I can't believe I/we pulled that off" or "Damn, I/we just barely lost. Well played opponent(s)" games become rarer and rarer and rarer.
But there are enough of those games still that I keep on playing when I know in my head and in my heart that this next game is probably going to be a blowout in one direction or the other...

You have faith 1 patch will fix it😯
Not really but it would be nice...
-
While this hasn't directly affected Series X/PS5/Higher End PC users, it has indirectly affected us as well as there are plenty of PS4/Xbox One/Lower End PC users trying to power through the event (which I am not blaming them just to be sure we're all on the same page here) but having their issues creep up (I've had quite a few teleporting survivors I've chased as a killer as well as teammates DC'ing mid-game).
While some are likely just jerks DC'ing because they're not getting their way, plenty of games have been affected by BHVRs absolute baffling refusal to deal with this garbage until now (a week AFTER their big event ends).
To me, the event needs to end when it is scheduled and once we have verified that July 27th is an actual damn fix instead of just one step forward and fifty steps backwards per BHVRs usual patch, THEN and only then should they do another event. Some kind of "We're sorry we've been so awful to you and we promise we'll never take you for granted again" event...
-
Oppression on...basically everyone
No one likes Oppression but I think it's a super useful perk. Gives me a good reason to kick gens without there being a time limit like Pop and there's a chance that I'll start knocking a gen out nowhere near me that the survivors won't come back to until it's way too late. It also REALLY comes in handy with only three gens left as it'll always damage all three and very few survivors seem to hit the skill check if they get the sudden Oppression Skill Check.
-
Considering SWF has been in the game since 2016, I'm pretty sure DBD is going to survive implementing SWFs...
-
I will generally play normal but not actually kill anyone in those situations.
However, if I've started hooking the remaining 3 peeps but gens still aren't popping, I'm likely to just put a bullet in the game via sacrificing them and move on. But as long as you three are still actively playing instead of hiding, I will let everyone go.
-
Because it's a super boring way to play as a killer. Sure, I might get one kill (or hell, 4 kills if I tunnel right) but I'd rather have four survivors escape but had a fun game rather than kill one to four of them but was bored silly cause all I did was chase one person around all game.

Power_Guy already nailed the response far better than I would have about the reason why the "timer stops during camping" is an issue so I'm not going to bother re-stating it but worse @Firellius
@Damarus said:

First and foremost, with the amount of tunneling this game entails, especially as of lately, there is no such thing as an "innocent killer". With that out of the way, you guys keep acting like having the killer "forced" to chase would not be HIS decision. I won't go fishing if I hate it, just because you say so. As I have said, if the killer is in chase, the timer goes down. If not, he is camping. He goes away, the timer goes down. He chases survivors who are stupid enough to hang around their hooked friend, the timer goes down. It's that simple. Otherwise, he is camping, and the timer should NOT go down (excluding EGC, before someone makes me have to say it, as it should be obvious). As for the 3 gen, I have already replied above.
I don't tunnel or camp or slug except in very specific situations so yes, there are 100% innocent killers who are going to get smacked by any of these punishments (either inadvertently or because survivors are abusing it and forcing the innocent killer into a position to do it).
I'm sorry that all you get are tunnelers, though I would encourage you to play more killer if you think everyone is a tunneler as you'll find, like I do, survivors constantly accuse you of tunneling whether you have tunneled anyone or not. It's even more fun when I somehow manage to get multiple accusations of tunneling from different survivors, which seems would be physically impossible since tunneling is the act of going after one survivor exclusively...

And how can I? People change idea any moment. Things I had proposed in the past, to lower survivors' "bullying" towards killers, were instantly refused by others. Now, some of those things have come to not only be proposed by other people, but they were also implemented in the game (or the devs stated they are considering them).
It's simple to have the timer not go down if the killer in a certain range from the hooked survivor, while having it go down as normal if the killer isn't camping him/is in a CHASE near him. And what do you get? Killer mains who come and say "blah blah survivors will abuse that". It's just stupid, none of the people who can only play it the easy way will ever change. Take these things out, and most players wouldn't be able to land a hit on an afk bot on easy mode, because they DEPEND on them. As lots of survivors do on SWF, and are worthless on their own. Funny thing is people keep saying League of Legends has the most toxic community of any game. Guess they have never played DbD.
Do you want to know why people will say that would be abused?
Because BHVR tried doing exactly that a few years ago in the PTB and guess what? It was abused to hell by survivors (especially SWF groups who could communicate).
One guy sits by the hook and forces the killer to chase them around it. The person on the hook is never in danger because the killer is "camping" while the other two survivors slam gens. Even if you eliminate the "still does it during the chase part", survivors just stay outside the range and then force the killer to go after a chase they won't win (as the survivor is a mile away and can kill 30-some seconds before the killer can even get near them).
There are also natural times as put by Crowman right above where a killer will just be in the area because the survivors three gen'ed themselves. The killer isn't camping because but they're getting punished as if they were camping because the area they need to defend is where the survivor is.
So yeah, you might not like that people keep instantly refusing your one idea but as I asked in my very first post, pitch an idea that isn't going to be abused by survivors and/or punish innocent killers and I will gladly hear it out.
-
I use a cake every time (unless for some reason I don't have one but that hasn't been a problem since the first few days and even then I'd use BPS).
I can at least understand why last gen console/low end PC users aren't using them as their game seems to crash if you do anything but everyone else, I just don't really understand why not. I know I've heard people say that they're getting tunneled/camped but it's not like jerk killers tunnel/camping now would suddenly NOT tunnel/camp later if you use the cake in three months...
-
@Firellius said:

The problem with the stipulation of 'Doesn't get abused by survivors' is that it is translated by these forums as 'Must still allow camping'.
Which defeats the point of an anti-camping measure.
Because to be completely blunt, there ARE times when camping is what you should be doing. Personally even during EGC, I won't camp because even then I just find it boring to try to secure one kill when I could run around and try to get more kills but if I were playing the "smart" way, I'd camp that survivor and force the rest to either abandon them or come to me.
It's the reason you can't really do things that would eliminate camping. There are times when it is the correct play and I have no idea how you would make the game be able to differentiate between someone playing smart with their camping and someone camping because they're a jerk.
