Better yet, how is the survivor able to pop off and run when they're mortally injured? They were already incapacitated to the point of being unable to stand, but sixteen seconds of flailing, which should make the injury situation even worse, and suddenly that gaping chest wound has downgraded to a minor annoyance. I can get how struggling causes the killer to lose their grip on someone (...until you get to guys like Nemesis, anyway), but that survivor should realistically be flopping to the floor and staying there.
Everyone is secretly Wolverine in the DBD universe except all they have is the healing factor. And it only works so well and they need another survivor to give them a backrub in order to fully heal.
-
My "real world" assumption is that the person being carried slips out of their grasp, which knocks them off balance. So it's not so much being stunned as it is that they're stumbling and trying to catch their balance.

How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck would chuck wood?
-
I generally kind of farm (in the sense that I will play normal but then never actually Death Hook the remaining survivors)
Unless I'm in a pissy mood, then you're all gonna die ASAP so I can move onto the next match
But usually I'll do my play farm. Although a lot of times the survivors will kill themselves on the hook, which I guess sucks for them

What if the hooked Survivor got a small amount of Bloodpoints whenever another Survivor in the trial does something notable, like repair a generator?
So for instance, the hooked Survivor gets let's say, 250 Bloodpoints or something, the moment a generator is completed.
I'd love for that. Honestly it could be up to BHVR to really fine tune it and it doesn't even have to be a whole ton but just...SOMETHING for sitting there being the marshmallow to the killers campfire
-
I really wish BHVR would give them any kind of incentive to stay up there. I always will (unless everyone is just hiding or something) because as a Solo Queuer, I am very well aware of how much it sucks when the one chance you have against Bubba is snatched away because someone isn't willing to use a few minutes of their life to help a stranger.
I get that its' a game so it's not like these are bad people or whatnot, it just really sucks and puts your fellow players in an awful position so I won't do it.

When survivors get approx 5,000,000,000 pallets against a M1 killer and nothing but tight corridors to nerf any ranged or speedy one hit killers like Oni or Billy, yeah, I consider that a survivors paradise.
Unless your team just carts around doing nothing, there's no reason you can't get all those gens done in the time it takes you to drop a survivor with how many damn pallets are in the place
-

Tome challenge to drop pallets while in chase, drop from great height, or hide while near killer for a minute (works when you're above/below killer) are all good on that map.
You know...it was probably the pallet one then because now that I think of it, every damn match had some annoying little bastard who would just keep jumping in and out of lockers trying to get me to chase them...

Does being out of the line of sight in any way avoid his 'sapping'? Or is it a distance thing?
I always wondered this.
Out of sight is the only way to avoid the stalk. However, the farther away he is, the less effective it is (not like GF where he can stalk you effectively whether you're 10 feet or 1000 feet away). I've found that you have to be relatively close for Mikey's stalk to really be all that useful)

i don’t like that map but I’d rather go there than the swamp
It wouldn't be nearly so bad if out of those four games, three of them were with Basic B M1 killers (Plague, Pinhead, and Pinhead again with my boy Bubba bein the only non-M1 killer in the group).
Basic B M1 killers on The Game might as well just go chill in the corner for how much of a chance they have on that map :(
-
The MMR Hell. If you didn't survive, was it really a skilled play? gives you a bunch of potatoes as teammates who have no idea how to play the game, which in turn means you can't really ever escape because you need your teammates to be at least quasi-competent (they don't need to be super good but "not miss a basic skill check" good, which should take about 30 minutes of gameplay to get to...). But you keep getting potato teammates because you're "not skilled" in the eyes of BHVR and potato teammates get you killed which means you're "not skilled" in the eyes of BHVR which gets you potato teammates which...
It's amazing how damn bad some people can be at this game
Also also because more people need to go watch this guys stuff...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZZIClpRItI -
If you're getting killed with only a thousand BP from a Tombstone Myers, at least two people on your team fed him like crazy because to get to T3 Myers with Tombstone, I think it takes two survivors to be fully sapped on Stalker Juice plus a fuzz of Stalker Juice from a third player (or maybe when I've gotten TBM, I didn't sap every last drop out of the two players I stalked and it does only take two people).
It's amazing how many survivors like to sit there and have a staring contest with Myers...
-
I feel like I'm one of the only peeps who runs Oppression :(
I feel it's one of the stronger slow down perks. That cooldown does hurt it a lot but I've found it can really clinch the win at the end (since many struggle badly to hit the skillcheck if they're on a gen and if they're not on a gen, that gen is going to start regressing)
-
Although to give a real answer, people quit the game over toxic aholes being toxic aholes. For all the problems this game has, it's still one of the best games in the genre.
I for one would rather the game not die because aholes chased players away. You can argue all you want that sticks and stones would break my bones but words will never hurt me but that's not how real life works. Plenty will get bullied, have an awful time because of it, and then just never come back.
Now we're seeing this to really affect the game as noob players are being thrown to the wolves (granted part of this is the stupid SBMM system but part of this is there are not the high end players sticking around to take the abuse). Obviously none of us can prove it one way or the other but I'd wager that many players who leave do it because of aholes, not because the game is bad.

I will double hook you right there and get you out the game ASAP.
Well it's less about being polite to the AFK person and more to being polite to the three bastards stuck with the useless turd of a teammate.
Although usually if I do get the AFK person hooked and killed, I treat it like an immediate disconnect, which brings out nice farmer Tippy who exclaims that it ain't much but it's honest work

Just don't play Demon in this game.
If you think dbd is survivor sided, imagine if 90% of your dbd killer game you are flying around passively as a disembodied entity, having to collect orbs in order to do anything, with your only ability being aimlessly setting useless traps or possesing (which is also pointless) And the other 10% when it comes to fighting survivors your units are stun locked and wrecked instantly.
And not forgetting if you do die as survivor, you can be resurrected an infinite number of times.
If it's helpful, I got a wonderful tip that has made a huge difference for me when playing from a streamer
Every instinct when playing these kind of games is "Go for the weak link". The guy who goes off on their own, hammer them until they are dead
That is the opposite of what you want to do in this game. At the very beginning, don't expect to be able to kill a single person. Basically your only job is to harass whoever is doing the objective as much as possible. If one person is off on their own, let them and only focus on slowing down the three people who are collecting the map pieces or whatever. The longer you stretch the game out, the more powerful you become.
Along with that, when you don't know where anyone is, just fly around (ideally in the area of the dagger and pages since you know they'll have to go there eventually) and just constantly set traps. Setting traps also powers you up so even if that trap never actually does anything, setting it gives you power.
Personally my go-to has been to upgrade all trap right away. Then upgrade energy until you start getting the passive energy (I believe that's 4 energy upgrades?). Then whatever your preferred playstyle is (like for me, possession is very low on the totem pole as I intend to just harass everyone with NPCs until the end game when I have everything powered up anyway but it's your call what you do here).
Hopefully that helps. I was frustrated as hell with Demon at first but once I started playing like this, I've won far more matches than I've lost (and usually I lose because of the stupid RNG stuff this game has with spawning objectives; thanks game, I love that the dagger and pages spawned next to each other so they can do both at the same time!)
-
If all they did was curb stomp my team, I assume they're saying it in good faith
If they were a jerk during the match (letting people bleed out for no reason, face camping at 5 gen, actual tunneling, mocking the killer with clicky clicks and/or tbags, etc) I assume they're being a jerk and sarcastic with their GG
-
But... it's not free
If you fail, you go to the second stage. That is very much not a free second chance for you as a hanging survivor.
-
My "rule" as a killer is to hook them once and then leave them alone
If by the time they've been unhooked that they still haven't returned and now their husk is sitting there being annoying, they had their chance and I'm ending this
-
I have a few rules for Hatch
- Did you BM? If you BM'ed me at all, you forfeited your right to the hatch.
- Do I think you deserve it? If I felt like your team was bad but you were good or you were especially good in a chase, your chances of hatch go up greatly
- Do I feel like it? Probably the most important one but more often than not, if you are good on Rule 1 and Rule 2, I am likely to let you go with Rule 3 but if I'm not feeling it or whatever, sucks to be you I guess!
- The Lottery. You can escape Rule 2 IF I knock you out and on my way to the hook, I hear the hatch. I call it the lottery since it's completely blind luck if I happen to stumble into the hatch on my way to the hook.
I probably give Hatch maybe 25% of games where I could be getting a 4K but actively choose to let someone live
-
I find it mildly annoying (I'm here to play DBD, not whatever weird meme game you're playing) but I don't really care all that much. Like...I'm not going to chastise anyone for doing it or whatnot, I'm just likely going to plow through the gens as fast as I can and go to my next game.
Although I do have to ask...what's Victor Fishing Twins? Is that the one where you have Charlotte have Insidious and the add on that makes them exposed if you kick Victor and then hide right by him so when he gets kicked, you smack them down right away?
-
Survivors who F Around often do not appreciate it when they have to Find Out
(also you need to edit out their names on the left side too. You removed their names from the chat but not from the summary screen)
-
I kind of wonder at this point if it's just a...power move for lack of a better word
"Look, I have given you all 2x BP!!! BUT I decide if you get to have any of it and I have decided no"
They are certainly free to play however they wish but I'm of the same mind as you; if BPS is in play and I have dominant control of the game, I'll ease off a bit and make sure we all get out of this game with good BP (Doesn't mean I'll let everyone just escape for free but I might "lose" that chase when I accidentally turn left when you went right. Clumsy Tippy!).

Many killers proxy camp because it works
That's basically the end all be all. It works. Very few groups of survivors will leave a fellow survivor hanging and the killer knows you have to come to them so they wait there for it.
If you don't come, the camped person dies and you're down a man. If you do come, the killer usually at worst will force you to hook trade with the hanging survivor (and at best, they might take you both down). The Jackpot is how many survivors will get off the gens and then rush to the hooked person only to back away when the killer walks over. Two people are not on the gen now AND the hook survivor is dying, which is best case scenario for the camper.
Killers do it because it works
-
It's the one situation where I'm willing to suicide on hook. If I get farmed, I just stand there and let the killer hit me. Either they're going to leave me alone (yay!) and go after the farmer or they're going to down me anyway and I have no desire to last JUST long enough to give the farmer a safe unhook bonus before I get smacked down again.

I wanna know how it feels to play on controller TBH
I've had no issues with it on a controller. There's no real "fine aiming" needed like playing Huntress or Trickster.
The only thing that really requires aiming are rifles as the survivors but it's no different than any other third person shooter you might get on a console
My only complaint is the button to possess survivors and the button to possess deadittes is the same button but I haven't looked to see if I can change that or if that's any different on PC

NO PAIN NO GAIN BRAH!!!!!!
Wait, what are we maxing out?
Anyway, yeah, I do find it weird how people seem to hellbent on getting done with trials ASAP in these events but I also do kind of get it. It's kind of the same thing as the toxicity cycle except instead of one side being jerks to the other side so the other side turns into a jerk which turns the other side into a jerk which... it becomes a game of one side trying to rush as quickly as possible so the other side tries to rush as quickly as possible so the other side starts tries to rush as quickly as possible which...

Also since this thread is already here, I might as well just copy/paste what I said in the smaller thread since I only saw that as it was in General before it got moved here. I forget that Off Topic exists at times (really at all times because for the most part, I'm on the DBD forum to talk about DBD :D)...
I bought the Deluxe Edition and I am kind of regretting that
Not because the game is bad but it's a good game with a ton of potential. But that's mostly all it is right now; potential
If you think DBD plays out the same every match, wait until you play five Evil Dead games in a row.
As a survivor, you need to get through as fast as possible because the longer you wait, the stronger the demon gets. The demon at the very beginning is such a non threat that survivors will commonly just split up to do stuff because the demon can't one v one anyone at all until they get a good 15 minutes of time in the game to get strong enough. There are four classes but ultimately they play out pretty similar.
The demon games have the same issue except your first 15 minutes or so is you being as effective as a wet fart against the survivors. You have to hope your mosquito attacks are annoying enough to slow down the survivors long enough for you to actually get some decent powers. There are three classes of these but again, it plays out super similar as there's really no real concrete difference in demon types.
It's similar to the wild swing in who is OP as DBD except instead of brand new baby players versus vets, it all happens in one game. Once the demon becomes powerful enough, there's not a whole lot the survivors can do about it. Unless the RNG screws you of course (good God how many times have I been a demon who was exorcised 800 damn yards away from the last objective while the survivors are right next to it; the last thing I need to defend is 3/4 the way through by the time I get to it).
It's a fun game and being only $40 is helpful but right now it's a shallow experience that needs a lot more to it besides name brand if it plans on sticking around.

Playing survivor is significantly more rewarding & satisfying than playing either killer or survivor in DBD & much less stressful.
I'll still be playing DBD, but Evil Dead has definitely got my attention at the moment.
In a side not I made another post about it in general chat like 5 mins ago & it automatically got moved to off topic lol. I guess BHVR see that game as a serious threat to the playebase.
If they thought it was a serious threat to the playerbase, no one would be allowed to talk about it period
It goes in Off Topic because it is an Off Topic issue. General is for talking about Dead by Daylight.
Evil Dead is not Dead by Daylight

I'm gonna play just cause I (mostly) enjoy playing. The extra bp is nice but I've played plenty long enough that the extra bp won't really factor into how much I play
Although my brother who hasn't played nearly as long or much as me might play more. So I guess that indirectly would affect me as I join him and take heat off of him if a killer is trying to tunnel him. Take me instead killer!!!

I did not mean it as an insult. I personally feel really bad about some of it because I do not feel people should be put down over this. It makes me really mad when I see streamers making fun of people or sending people over to harass players because they were tilted by the game itself and attribute that to the other player, or as you said, the players who deliberately use the game as a tool for their toxicity.
It is not as though I have a switch that I can just turn off. It took me a bit of practice and a pinch of narcissism. Part of it is trying to recognize what the issue is. Sometimes it is map or game mechanics, other times it is that the other player is really good, and at times, I am the one messing up.
I feel sometimes people do not make that distinction and always feel it is their fault. Or always blame the game. Or always get mad at their opponent. There is a lot of nuance to it as well. Which can often make it difficult to self reflect in the heat of the moment when you are busy trying to play.
The weird kicker is once the match is over, and there are no distractions, people tend to latch onto those frustrations without revisiting them. That is not healthy per se, but if it ended there, it would probably be for the better as they feel a compulsion to drag others down with them. Blame their teammates, berate the killer, have a fit with their keyboard. Whatever the case, they make their venting public and contributes to the cesspool.
I digress, I am really surprised to hear you struggle with this Tippy. I have always considered you to be a beacon of positivity and perhaps the most kind member of the community. If it reaches you... I guess it could happen to anyone.
Some of it is a ME problem too. Like, I've always had a bit of an anger issue (or maybe frustration issue is a better word for it).
My hair trigger also got...hairier as I've been dealing with physical problems too (so again, that's a me problem, not the game). The game might press on my trigger but ultimately it is still MY trigger.
The game is just, whether on purpose or on accident, has designs setup to push those frustration buttons.
You are correct that it's something that needs to be worked on by people, myself included and I am genuinely glad that you can just roll with the punches when the game takes a swing. I had gotten a lot better about it but it took a lot of work and whatnot and it's still not quite there. I honestly do wish I could just...stop doing that but it's a struggle.
(Also just to be clear, I don't think you were being insulting, I just wanted to tell my story to kind of help demonstrate why people might get frustrated with the game).
Honestly, I do feel like people like myself really probably shouldn't be playing a game like DBD but I always trick myself into thinking that NEXT time I won't get so angry and frustrated over something so silly...until I do.
It's a constant battle that unfortunately I do lose from time to time (sorry keyboards, and controllers, and desks, and door, and...).
I try to be extra positive on the forum BECAUSE I know firsthand how awful you can feel when you've broken yet another damn keyboard out of frustration. It sucks and I hate that I'm like this so I probably try a bit too hard here to be nice :)

Well, my suggestion could be to try and Branch out to others things but make sure you take baby steps, because if you just do it all in one fail swoop it's not going to work as intended, and you're going to end up gravitating right back towards the thing that was causing you pain.
Just take baby steps, explore your options, and once you find an alternative that you can jump to anytime the going is getting tough, there you go!
I've gotten better about it and play other games now (especially when this game gets irksome). I used to play this for hours at a time, now I play one to two games at a time before stepping away.

I more or less agree, but I really do not see how a party game could have that effect on anyone. This is more relevant for competitive games with "stakes."
Easy, I'm competitive by nature and the thing that frustrates me the most in games is feeling like my skill level didn't matter (the deck was stacked against me too much so I was screwed no matter what).
Fair or not, this game is the damn definition of "sucks to be you" where there are times your skill didn't matter and you got screwed. It also doesn't help how many just ######### peeps gravitate towards this game and take every opportunity to rub it in your face how you got screwed and it's easy to see why people get frustrated playing it.
I'm happy for you if you are fine and don't get emotional when these things pop up but some of us like me are dum and let this ish get to us far more than it should :D
Believe me, if I could just flip a switch and not care, I'd do it in a damn heartbeat.
...I should quit this game :D
