"Getting stuck" we are talking about good survivors. They dont get stuck. They know their pathing really well. They look behind in half a second camera swings... Getting stuck does not happen there.

    Uh wat

I didn't say anything about getting stuck lol

It's a huge problem. My SWF's record for killer dodges is something like 15 in a row. And then the killer who does finally take the match often gets 2 or 3 hooks total for the entire game. Lobby dodging is killing match quality.

They could implement literally anything into the game to make it so SWF isn't easy mode and the killer isn't afraid of going against them, but I suppose that would be too easy.

Killers asked for no heal meta. Now survivors are focusing on gens and not wasting time with healing. What's wrong?

I wasn't playing the game when this meta started so you can exclude me from that generalization, thanks.

It's very probably this. If you can, plug your controller into a PC and you can test it in Control Panel. Check that it registers a steady 100% in all directions. If it does not hit 100% you will run slower than a normal run.

Hey, thanks for the tip! I'll definitely check this when I get home from work.

  • I've been saying this in relation to Trapper and just get told I'm bad so... shrug

That's the MFT issue though: being injured means nothing anymore. There's absolutely no risk to being injured when you have 17 perks to gain endurance in different ways. In fact, it probably benefits survivors more to stay injured with MFT seeing that Resilience has crept back into the meta and Prove Thyself is still there. It's the same issue that's been present with every big discussion — strong killers don't care, average killers have a 50/50, and weak killers struggle even more than they would already. But hey, "skill issue"

Or, alternatively, gens can pop pretty fast since the gen defense perks got nuked and unless you're playing an A-tier or S-tier Killer it's hard to keep up. It is possible but rather than just disparaging somebody you can acknowledge there are issues.

It's sort of like with solo queue; I can still escape close to half the time but that doesn't mean there aren't issues in solo queue for BHVR to address.

This is the answer. Some killers are just so bad that, unless you play really dirty, you'll struggle consistently.

For example, I'd like to play Trapper without having to put 17 traps around a basement hook... and then I go to Garden of Pain and rethink my life decisions.

This is also something I feel a lot of killer complainers overlook when they argue for certain survivor perks to be nerfed. It's like they expect the slot that WoO took to stay empty once it gets nerfed, instead of being replaced with more generally useful perks.

'There will always be a Draco.'

Exactly. And the same logic applies the other way too. If a killer is running an all chase build, say, that's every perk they're not using to kick/regress gens.

I do my fair share of silly complaining in irritating moments, but it seems like a lot of players just don't really think when they're making these arguments haha

If you're on console and play with a controller, it may be the controller's fault, even if you don't notice anything in other games. It's been a long time, but I had a similar problem (took extremely long to catch up as killer) and checked my controller and noticed pushing the left stick forward would not report the stick as fully pushed which translates in DbD to the character not moving at full speed.

Some other people had the same issue. I haven't heard about it in a long time, but it's a possibility if you use a controller.

I never considered this! I've had the same controller for probably about five years now, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if it's giving out on me.

  • What haste perks can Trapper benefit from lol

I mean... Play with Your Food might catch them off guard, but what will it do for me when I'm eating pallets all game and dealing with people pre-run when I'm still halfway across the map.

  • @Akumakaji said:

Cheating aside and working with just a couple of your descriptions, one of the side effect if the game being this old is, that the player base became better and better. If you take a modern DBDs mid survivor, they would probably be untouchable in 2016-2017 game, just because of their different mindset and techniques that weren't known back then. You hear that all the time: "back then the game was more fun, it was totally unbalanced and we had infinites, but no one knew how to play. Lol."

Some survivor mains with literally thousand of hours know how to run every single tileset in the game literally perfectly, they will make so little errors, that the margin to catch them is extreeeeemely slim. Thats why MFT is totally messing with any gameplay beyond mid-level skills: all the loops are designed around normal speed killers and survivors, and even slight variations can throw this off.

As you are even struggling to get your first hit in, there could have been no MFT in play, I just think you got unlucky and got really good loopers (we call them god-loopers in the business), who are hard to catch in the best of times. If you start your trial with them, they have all the maps ressources and they know exactly how far to greed any given pallet, so they will waste your time until the other 3 gens pop and only throw down 2-3 pallets in the process. This could already be game for the survivors.

There is not much to do, but play more, analyse whats happening, developing gamesense and get better at running loops. Watching survivor gameplay can help a lot, as you see what they are doing and what techniques they are using to determine which direction you are running. There are certain techniques of hiding your red stain, like moonwalkig or the shuffle, but really experienced survivors will even manage to call you out on this, most of the time.

In this case its imperative to break off chase asap. The sooner you realize whats happening and you switch targets, the better. Chances are that this god-loopers WANT to get chased, so they will play suboptimally, fastvault here and there, flashlight click you or run into your field of view, just to give you the illusion of an easy hit. Don't take the bait and patrol gens and find an easier target. SOmetimes you got 4 god-loopers in one team, then there is really nothing that you can do, but this comp teams are really, really rare. Developing a good game sense is one of the most important skills as a killer (also as a survivor, but more so as a killer, as you are on your own.

    Good luck :)

I play on PS4 because, and I can't believe I'm saying this, the game runs smoother on it than it does on my PS5. Every time I run it on the 5 it's insanely laggy, to the point that I can't even hit skill checks; meanwhile, on the PS4, I can hit greats consistently. I know hitting greats isn't all that difficult, but I'm using it as an example of the lag.

  • @sulaiman said:

You should really get some help on that. Also, have a serious word with your parents, as i assume they had something to say about you watching that movie as a 5year old.

My granddad let me watch Halloween when I was 8 years old and it didn't affect me much. I know it and Alien are very different, but it's fascinating to me how different two people's reactions can be to seeing scary movies as a kid.

  • I've been playing on my PS4 for this exact reason.

Even if I can load in, for some reason the game is incredibly laggy compared to my *previous gen* console.

  • @Alice_pbg said:

a couple things could be happening.

the survivor could be taking an optimal pathing, while you don't.

you keep doing things that slow you down, like activating your power on some killers.

it would be best if you could show us a match.

    they said first hit

Probably I'm losing mind games. I took a long break, so I'm sure I just need time to get my bearings again. These new tiles are confusing the heck out of me. Ormond's, especially — a lot of the windows and pallets feel ridiculously safe there. Toba Landing too, but I've heard a lot of complaints about that map so no surprise there.

  • @rvzrvzrvz said:

I believe you I had one adam with a weird name impossible to catch on RPD today, he was healthy whole game so not MFT, I couldn't get close to him no matter what he was definitely at 4.6ms, reported him for not so subtle speed hack and I'm 100% positive he was hacking, I play this game enough almost everyday to notice something was off with that person

also few days ago I was instantly killed and teleported in basement by a plague few seconds after match started, so i'm definitely not crazy there are still hackers in game

Yeah, I hate to call cheats (especially since, as I've said before on this post, I took a long break and I'm sure I need more time to learn the updated tiles) but a few times I swear survivors have been straight up faster than me.

I played against a SWF last night using Agitation and Starstruck, and I swear every single person got faster right when I came near them while carrying. No one was using Breakout.

  • No, I've been having the most difficulty on Trapper (shocker). If you scroll up a little I explained to another person the way I try to play around pallets.

Optimal looping really hurts me too because, admittedly, I am pretty unfamiliar with a lot of the new tiles because I took such a long break, but it feels like there are safe pallets/windows eeeverywhere these days.

I played a game on Ormond right that caused me to post these where I literally couldn't even get a single hook because they were running the tiles/playing around pallets really well.

  • @Nazzzak said:

Definitely record a match and share. People will be happy to give advice.

Can I record a match on console? I'm not sure how to do that.

I know I said "...blah blah blah, if I hold W..." but that's just the way I'm used to hearing people say it lol

  • @EvilSerje said:

It's very hard to tell without example. If you could provide record, it would be helpful.

Without that I can only imagine EGC with Made-for-This + Hope. Or you don't like breaking pallets.

I think this is part of my problem. I've been having the most difficulty with Trapper (go figure) and I try to mind-game pallets when I can, but it feels like the survivors are inside my head.

I haven't been trapping them either because I've been testing out the new purple bag so I don't want to waste my traps at pallets if I can't pick them up; the few times I've tried that, they've been conveniently disarmed right as whoever I'm chasing is headed back to the loop.

I try to do the trick where you start to place a trap and start, but they usually make enough distance to get to the next loop.

  • I don't want to say that it would outright ruin the vibe of the game or anything drastic like that, but wouldn't it feel a bit silly having a Disney property in the game?

  • I think you're limiting yourself with these perks. I'd recommend Corrupt and StBfL instead of Lightborne and Blood Favor.

You could also replace Bamboozle with Pop or even Jolt if you're struggling to keep gens.

  • I agree that it's unhealthy for the game, but how can weak killers build pressure without it? Trapper is literally useless at this point because there's no grass anywhere to hide traps anymore; if you take away the tunneling aspect from him, his killrate would be like 0.75 LOL

  • @Alice_pbg said:

Xeno already coccons people for the queen. Same deal really

What if the entity is the queen 😳

  • I think these actually sound pretty interesting. Some adjustments could probably be made, but I'm in favor of them experimenting with perks strong enough to be viable for one side but having counters from the other, even if it just a temporary killer aura-reveal for survivors.

I'd be curious to see how these would work in game.

  • @jordanjustice said:

Just to add-on to the disappointment of this event....

The dispenser and cooler things on top of the Gens severely compromise the view for the survivor. Which... is not a good thing.. especially with your unnecessary terrible nerf of Spine Chill, the survivor needs to be able to see.

Do you guys not know how to move your camera while you're working on gens or...

  • @jordanjustice said:

lol.. interesting complaint. I like it. However, I think the issue is that the devs don't have time to think up descriptions. Their dev times is basically split between, fixing broken things, making new characters, and adding new cosmetics. They add so many cosmetics (that really no one asked for) that they don't have the time and energy to think up good descriptions for each.

Simple solution is for them to stop releasing so much so fast.

I understand that the revenue from cosmetics and new chapters funds a large part of the game, but I think it would be incredibly helpful if we had a "chapter" that fixed remaining issues rather than introducing more with a new update.

Not to sound like I'm sh*tting on the devs, but their track record for introducing new bugs/issues and not fixing existing ones is pretty bad.

  • Bro wants to make playing survivor even less engaging

  • @Xendritch said:

I don't think Windows does as much as people think. A while back I experimented with blindness builds to see if it would make a difference and it very rarely did. All windows does is show survivors where the tiles are it doesn't help them run the tiles.

In this way Windows is only actually useful if you're already a good looper

I agree. And even so, if you're a strong enough looper using the perk is overkill.

Also, I don't know about everybody else, but I'll gladly take 4 WoO users. That's 4 survivors who aren't using Unbreakable, Resilience, DH, DS, Plot Twist, Prove Thyself, etc.

  • Yeah, F new players!

In all seriousness, the perk is fine. Just because it's popular doesn't mean it needs nerfed.

  • The game really isn't survivor-sided. There are a few maps that are still easily abusable (Myers house on Haddonfield is an infinite if the survivors run it well) but overall they've done a good job with balancing over the past few years.

There are still issues to be dealt with but saying the game favors one side is just a skill issue, at this point.

  • Yeah, I wish there was a way that it could differentiate between an actual DC (i.e. a game crash) and a rage quit.

I got a couple minute ban the other day because the servers crapped out and kicked all 5 of us out of a match at 4 gens.

Why no though? The 3% is already super strong, the endurance has no place.

It's not just super strong, it's literally two perks in one. You could split it and have two strong perks instead of having one that is... let's say, arguably over-tuned.

Blight has been out for nearly 3 years at this point. Alchemist's Ring shouldn't take this long to rework.

I agree, but I also feel like the bigger issue is that there is always very little (if any) communication from the devs. It feels like by not telling us any plans until they're about to be implemented they're allowing themselves to take it easy and not worry about glaring issues that need fixed.

  • @mca240 said:

Sigh. Plenty of statistics have shown that it is objectively busted. It takes 20% longer to catch up with a survivor than without. You can loop longer and reach pallets/vaults you otherwise cannot extended chases in a game, where there is not room for extended chases given the speed at which generators are done.

The reason you find it "fun" is because it is an unbalanced perk making you feel you're good at looping. It is literally old Dead Hard all over again, hence 75% of survivors running it.

Let's not forget that paired with Resilience, a strong looper can run killers for longer and even easier than before.

I wouldn't even care so much if already weak killers weren't the ones suffering the most from it.

The DS conspicuous action change dealt with the gen aspect, without needing to nerf the 5s stun or disable it in endgame. I'm fine with not having it in endgame, if it still had teeth. If we don't bump it back up to 5s, I'd like it to disable Killer power for 5s per gen remaining. That way the Nurse tunneling at 5 gens can't blink for 25s, but the Bubba tunneling at 1 gen only has to wait 5s to use the saw.

I do agree that when they added DH validation it was busted, but the Endurance version was fine, because it only had value at pallets, not windows as well (although it could be busted with the 'bugfix' Fast vaults). Arguably I'd say we should have it only work against Special Attacks with a 1s duration and without the hooked requirement. That way it can still shut down Nurses and Blights, but do nothing to Legions and Clowns and Ghostfaces.

Plot twist to shut down Corrupt is a meme, and 99% of the time it is only a No Mither madlad doing that. If you have trouble winning with a No Mither user with a dead perk slot of Plot Twist, you have larger problems than losing Corrupt early.

I'm a bit of an odd one out with NOED, I'd want to basekit it in the case of 0 kills. If someone dies, the basekit NOED dies like Ruin, but if you bring the perk it can still spawn/survive after a kill. This would add extra pressure for the Survivors when the Killer is getting stomped, and allow for a potential comeback.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3507979#Comment_3507979

Also thought this was interesting and wanted to check the patches/dates added. (Month-Year format)

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/KGFZAUSI2761/top10dates.jpg

Survivor Meta perks are basically the release perks, or updates to perks at least 3-5 years old. (Rough Year 1/1/1/1/1/1/1/1/2/2)

Killer Meta perks get one or two a year basically. (Rough Year 1/1/1/2/2/2/3/5/5/6)

To be fair, the last new Survivor Meta perk (CoH) was insanely busted and I think the only QoL it needs is to allow Self-Care at 25% speed. That way, if a teammate sees you taking 64s/80Sloppy to heal, they'd rather 8s/10Sloppy heal you themself.

Looking at the dates, it just makes Survivor look ludicrously depressing.

5 second DS only affects killers who can't afford to eat a stun in the first place, regardless of how long it is. Do you really think a Nurse cares whether she gets stunned for 3 or 5 seconds? Not at all.

A Pig on the other hand.... A Clown on the other hand.... A Trapper on the other hand.....

  • The size doesn't help anything either, especially Mother's Dwelling. You can almost lose a gen in the time it takes to get from one side of the map to the other.

  • @UnknownKiller said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/386872/killer-meta-perks-are-still-alive-while-survivor-meta-butchered

Meta also include perks that got nerfed and we used cuz there is still no other way to avoid 3 gens pop in 2 chases?

You guys are getting in 2 chases before you lose 3 gens? Cries in Trapper.

  • @bm33 said:

I feel like alot of matches on both sides would be alot better if depips were removed.

    Agree. HARD agree, actually.

  • @SOULWARRIOR71K said:

I think you guys are misunderstanding what they are saying. I’ve experienced this glitch before too. I used plot twist. Then the gens popped and I used plot twist again. However the killer then downed me and I was able to get up as if I had unbreakable and I was full health. Read that again. I was downed by the killer after having already used plot twist twice and was able to get up fully healthy.

Then this is a bug that should be reported, but not a perk complaint.

  • You... you do understand that the change you're suggesting would have about the same effect as removing it from the game altogether, right?

  • It's funny that all of those "dead" perks you listed have been changed so they don't let survivors do anything they want for absolutely no downside.

Do you really think it was healthy for the game that a recently unhooked survivor could get grabbed off of a gen and have a free escape because their DS timer was at 59 out of 60 seconds?

Or, that a survivor could get greedy and be about to go down and completely undo their mistake by pressing E?

Also, Corrupt really isn't meta anymore. It goes away as soon as somebody goes down, including a survivor using Plot Twist at 5 gens.

As for NOED... I mean, it's unhealthy for the game but the devs don't seem to be in the market of changing it. That one I'll give you, but even it can be completely mitigated by running Inner Healing and just getting five heals for free.

  • No one would play anything but Nurse and Blight LOL

  • Don't let the few naysayers this may attract put you down.

I'm a straight guy, so I didn't fully understand (though, of course, I supported it) why things like representation mattered so much when I was younger, but it was reading things like this post that helped me understand.

Congratulations, and hopefully you can come out to those closest to you without judgment.

I'll say it for everyone: We're rooting for you :)

  • Should be, as far as everybody can tell. If not tomorrow then it's basically guaranteed to come out on Wednesday, but as far as I can recall most PTBs have been released on Tuesdays.

  • I commented this on another post, but it's relevant here too. "Sweaty" playing is, by and large, a cycle:

-Side A (survivor) plays a silly meme build to goof around and, say, loot chests a bunch of times.

-Side A is paired against Side B (killer) who is playing alchemist ring Blight because they just got stomped by a 4-man SWF as a no-regression Trapper.

-Side B tunnels Side A out of the game at 4 gens because they don't want a repeat of what happened last game.

-Side A is irritated that they played all of twenty seconds of that round.

-Side A puts on MFT, Unbreakable, Deliverance and Balanced Landing.

-Side A plays against Side B 2.0 (different killer), a Billy using speed limiter with 4 terrible perks.

-Side A loops Side B 2.0 for 5 gens and t-bags at the exit gate.

-Side B 2.0 plays their next game as Nurse with BBQ, Infectious, Pop, and Pain Res.

    -Repeat.

It's unfortunate that the other side can determine how much fun you have in a game, but that's the way it is. The cycle doesn't seem to be on the verge of breaking anytime soon either.

  • I felt pretty confident about a year ago. I played about 5 killers really well, and about 5 more decently...

Then I took a year break and now I'm relearning everything, along with new maps, new perks, new vaults, killer buffs/nerfs, survivor buffs/nerfs... :')

  • ...Okay, yeah, makes sense. I figured that was about the only logical reason something like this would happen, but I was really hoping she pulled all 4 of you off of gens or something LOL

Edit to add: Maybe she has built-in black wards or something, but I always find it so funny seeing cheaters waste add-ons lol

there is literally no situation in which you CAN'T catch a survivor unless you're bad or you've reached end game using a slow killer and they have multiple perks stacked to increase their speed so the situation you're describing is literally just made up. The situations I described happen daily

Disagree. Trapper using purple sack (can't trap pallets unless you want to give up better, more hidden options) against a good looper is a nightmare.

    You basically have three options:

A.) Run through every pallet and lose all 5 gens.

B.) Leave chase so another survivor can do the same thing or, better yet, pre-run ten years before you get there so you waste more time *catching up* before you even start the chase or get a hit.

C.) Play like a bot and walk around the gens the whole game without chasing anybody.

    Please buff Trapper :(

  • If it makes you feel better, during my very first game as Plague I got stuck in the center of a dropped pallet. No idea how or why, but the survivor stunned me and I literally could not escape from it. They felt bad and tried to give me free downs and whatnot but I couldn't even pick them up, let alone go anywhere.
