I'm very surprised to see NOED mentioned. Not too many people seem to want it to be base kit.. This would make it to where the majority of Survivors would most certainly do Totems, which in turn, would help a lot with Gen rushing. If Survivors knew NOED was coming at the end of every trial, you'd start to see those Totems clear up pretty damn quick as well as Generators slowing down even if its only slightly. I also think it only makes sense for the Killer to become stronger toward the end of the trial.
I don't necessarily want it to be base kit, but I'm kind of just throwing out ideas.
Really, I just want to be able to play a Pig game and not feel like bringing Sloppy instead of Jolt, say, is going to lose me the game.

Until we get a ping system probably Kindred or Bond for survivor.
Maybe Corrupt for killer?
Map-wide bond would be nice for solos, I think.

Enough with the base kit perks already.
The changes that survivors need are not base kit perks but a way to communicate in order to help out with solo queue issues. A chat wheel would be a better option than just adding half a douzen perks to the survivors' base kits because: "SWF hAVe iT AnYwAY."
Killers don't need base kit perks either. Because instead of adding band aid after band aid the devs should fix the underlying issues. Like killers having no early game.
I agree. I brought this discussion up because they don't seem to want to do either of these things. Doesn't it seem a lot more likely, knowing the devs, that they would introduce certain perks as base instead of doing a massive overhaul of all the issues?
-
Sure, as long as Small Game can't track bear traps anymore. I don't know if that's still a feature or not but it was DUMB.

Who cares about Boons in 2023?

The problem is more the combination of Slowdown-Perks which prolong the game + the mandatory Job of cleansing 5 Totems on top of it. Plus it would make Pentimento a real pain to deal if the Killer can count on Survivors breaking Totems. It can already be strong, but only with a Dedicated Build. If I know that I would get built-in NOED and that the Survivors are forced to cleanse my Totems, I would run Pentimento in every game.
And nerfing some Regression Perks is not the way to go IMO. This would also hurt those who only run one Regression-Perk.
Okay, you know what, you've got me there. I only just recently came back to the game so I tend to forget a lot of the newer perks; I didn't factor in Pentimento and how that would affect things.
-
I'd like this.
I'd also like to say that you could then keep corrupt in the game but have it block all gens for 60 seconds, but then we come back to the age old issue of something strong on Trapper or Pig, say, being broken on Nurse or Blight.

How many foots it may help some people for sure!
I know, I know. I was being a smart ass, because truthfully I also haven't been able to figure out how far certain distances are. For example, BBQ & Chili — how far away is 40 meters? I don't know!

You know, throwing in some buzzwords like "SWF" wont really improve your reasoning.
Auras would not do anything for SWFs. They know when the Killer is camping and they also know where everyone is. But it would certainly help Solos and people who are not 4 man-SWFs.
Yeah, I was curious about the logic there.

No perks should be basekit, that's not how you balance a game. But what do i know?
You don't think having Kindred would be a good change for solo-q? I'm curious as to why.

@Aven_Fallen said:
"Anything that adds something to do for survivors other than holding M1 on generators might make it so M1 killers don't feel the need to run 4 regression perks every game."
They would still run 4 Regression-Perks each game and because Survivors have to cleanse 5 Totems on top of doing 5 Gens, they wont even reach Endgame.
Yes, I did consider this. Surely appropriate nerfs could be made to the stronger regression perks to balance this out?
-
Anybody see Otzdarva's game where the last survivor was a bot who finished the last gen and then ran directly for the hatch?
That MF was not messing around!!!
-
I'm surprised they didn't give us an add-on that would imitate Spirit old's window vault animation, more precisely her lack of one.
I don't know how useful it would be, but I think it would make for some fun mind games.
-
I platinum-ed the base game and have been slowly working towards the rest. I'd guess I'm at about 60% completion so far.
-
Only certain characters. It would make it a lot less unique if every survivor won't shut up all of a sudden LOL
-
I played a Legion game last night on Midwich where I 4k-ed and one of the survivors said they were going to report me for griefing/tunneling.
I finished the game with 11 hooks and this survivor was the third person to die.
-
As far as I can tell, 10 meters is approximately 10 meters.
Hope this helps!

Unironically calling Trapper. They mentioned “killer updates” involving him.
"We've noticed that Trapper's purple bag add-on is the only thing that makes him even slightly tolerable to play. In light of this, we have decided on the following changes:
While using the purple bag The Trapper can no longer place bear traps.
If The Trapper attempts to place a bear trap, The Trapper will immediately die."

Not a stupid question. My keyboard is unfortunately not built for gaming. Many “work” keyboards don’t have n-key rollover. Not a techie but it’s apparently a keyboards ability to handle multiple inputs. Holding W+shift (sprint) while then clicking space (to drop a pallet or vault for example) is impossible because the keyboard will only recognize the sprinting action or the space action. Can’t do both at the same time. Only way to remedy this is to rebind the action button to something where this concept doesn’t occur (scroll wheel was the most convenient for me) or be fine with having to stop at every pallet and then fast vault afterwards which leads to a lot of unnecessary hits or medium vaults. I plan on getting a new one over break.
Hey, I appreciate the time you took to explain! I'm a console player (I know, I know) so I understand the uh.. let's say, inconvenience that can come with a limited number of bindable options.
Best of luck with getting a new one. You'll be looping Otzdarva for 5 gens in no time : D
-
The biggest issue with Trapper is map design, more specifically the fact that none of them (except swamp, at least as of now) have thick grass anymore. If a survivor is playing on a new map with low graphics, the traps are completely visible. They may as well be sitting out in the open. This mixed with the fact that maps also have, for some reason, incredibly bright floors is killing him.
There are also the issues that have been in the game for years: traps spawning in the furthest corners of the map, picking up and setting speeds being too slow to effectively use in chase, etc.
-
Maybe this is a stupid question, but can you not just rebind those commands to space bar?

DBD, the only game I know of where it's frowned upon if you try to win.
A 3k is already a win though. You've killed 75% of survivors and, presumably, hooked the one who got out at least once.
This is coming from someone who plays killer and survivor about equally. The notion that a kill can only win with all 4 kills is goofy.

Isn't that the point of perks though? To help other perks into allowing you to escape?
I mean, perk synergy exists, yes, if that's what you're asking. But that combo is a no risk, insane reward situation for survivors.
-
On top of that, can we stop this trend of having the floors of maps look like there are spotlights on them at all times? (Trapper main btw)
-
I think he just has Spirit syndrome. Nerf his strong add-ons, adjust weaker ones as necessary, fix bugs and go from there.

Suspense. Nah but srsly just things like My and buckle up or soul guard and unbreakable, idk just people complain about literally every perk combo
One of the few I will always complain about is Buckle Up with FtP. There's no counter to it except for going braindead for ten seconds or using Save the Best for Last, which is an equally unhealthy perk.

Having fun. Why care what the outcome is if you have a good game?

I mean, Susie could also be bi. Would be nice to have some bi-rep, as they tend to get overlooked quite a lot. As they're either as "confused" straight people or as closeted gays trying to be "straight" (the bi-erasure is real), either way, it will be interesting to see what's going to happen.
(Also iirc, it's hinted at in their lore that the Legion members are all bi/pan, so who knows really.)

I'm just saying, if playing against SWF is such an impossible task then rather risk finding yourself in that situation don't queue up as killer.
No need to punish people who want to play games with friends when you can already avoid playing against them.
Let me just make it clear, I don't disagree with you. Rather, what I want is to buff solos so they can be a little bit closer to the inherent strength of SWF (making Kindred base kit, for example, would be a welcome change) and then balancing killers accordingly.
I'm all for playing with friends. I do it myself. I just think that the divide between SWF and solo queue is too big.

That's not really a fair point considering that the advantage you get from comms is minimal unless you're a coordinated 4-man swf using callouts like Team Eternal does.
Every team using comms is going to use callouts in some capacity though, even as simple as, "[Player 1] stay on your gen, I'll go unhook [Player 2]"
I feel like there are some easy changes that could be made to make solo play stronger, which they can then use to buff killers accordingly.
For example, imo there is no reason in the world that Kindred isn't base kit. This is just one of many things, but I'm at work right now so I can't type out an essay LOL

he is an inferior Ghostface in almost every way..
I think he has advantages. one advantage he has is that he cannot be broken out of stalking. The other advantages is that he can use perks that surpress his TR in EV3 to emulate the 99% mark GF gameplay. Myer's is in a better spot than he ever has been for m1 killer. He might not emulate being a late game killer but he does have some perk synergy to make his gameplay relevant. for that reason, I don't think he needs any changes. his mori is strong gimmick and it wins like 99% of games. his base-kit is not that great but smart perk synergy can make his power more effective.
This isn't a good argument though. It's the same reason Trapper and Clown suck — perks and add-ons can only do so much for a weak base kit. And more so, imo he's just boring. Fun to play against if it's a good player, but playing as him is just so dull.
-
I think the best way to put it is that he feels outdated. He's the product of an era that we've long improved upon, but he's been kind of left behind with it.
Especially his add-ons. Tombstones, fun and satisfying though they are, have no place in this game.
I hope we get a Myers rework soon but between new chapters and the fact that Skull Merchant is apparently next on their list, I'm not holding out hope.

You can already choose to not play killer. No need to hurt people who just want to play some games with friends, because you can't handle it.
By that logic there would be nobody for the people who want to play with their friends to face.
I don't mind it too much, but let's call it what it is: playing with friends has advantages that make it significantly easier to "win" in this game. Denying it is just lying to yourself.
-
@Crowman said:
So people get punished trying to play DBD with their friends with longer queue times. Those people find a different games to play. You basically want to tank DBD's playerbase.
This is a fair point, but it's an equally fair point that killers don't want to play against a team that has a built-in advantage. Even more so if they're using comms.
-
Or they could just balance the game better so solo can be more enjoyable and SWF won't have a 50% higher likelihood of getting 3 or 4 man outs every game, but I guess we don't have time for rational solutions....

Oh, I play at iri ranks. I just don't want to see low MMR be even more miserable than it already is LOL

I'm well aware that Adren is the bigger issue, king. But thanks so much for explaining to me <3
-
On one hand, I'm sorry you got trolled.
...On the other hand, this is the funniest thing I've ever seen in this video game.
-
I mean... that's kind of okay, I think. I'm in favor of, you know, not giving survivors 3 free health states in endgame, when the game is already (more or less) won or lost.
-
I clicked on this expecting to find a like-minded Chad asking for Trapper buffs and I have to read about Chess Merchant instead. Feels bad.
This is a joke, of course. She desperately needs reworked. Playing against her is a snooze fest.
-
Depends on what perks you're talking about. Some complaints here are warranted (MfT, Buckle Up + FtP, etc) but most of it is just salt caused by a single or string of bad games.
-
@Roaroftime said:
Because dev's want to "shake up the meta" which entails making the only good perks in the game worse and saying they "buffed" perks when the buffs are garbage or even nerfs themselves making the list of viable perks smaller with each update...
Or they go the Buckle Up route and turn one of the worst perks in the game into one of the strongest, most uncounterable (when paired with FtP) LOL

@Phantom_ said:
The same can be said about NOED, Blood Warden, and No Way Out, why is the killer being rewarded for not finishing their objective before 5 gens have popped or heck even when the gate has been opened? Why be rewarded by a perk that insta-downs survivors and rewards a killer who hasn't been doing so otherwise?
Both sides have those types of perks. If you want to remove or nerf one side then you have to do the same with the other side to keep it balanced.
Yes, NOED is unhealthy for the game, but the whatabout-ism doesn't help anything.
@appleas said:
I think in the minds of some posters, reverting the healing changes while keeping the generator regression perk nerfs is perfectly fine and balanced to them.
Also the comparison between Bloodlust and MFT is pretty laughable when Bloodlust was obviously not designed because Survivors had MFT but because of bad map design but this fact is seemingly glossed over.
We should be, after seven years, at a point where we could remove bloodlust for killers, but the maps are still so unbalanced that most killers would suffer from it. This is the same reason nobody will use that new Alien perk after release week.

@GannTM said:
WoO isn’t the problem. Bad map design is. Can we please not nerf viable solo queue perks just because of a whole separate issue that WoO enhances a tiny bit?
THANK YOU. As somebody who consistently plays killer at a moderately high level (low iri ranks; usually rank one before I took a long break) I would much rather see 4 WoO than anything else because that means one less perk slot being used for MFT, Deli, Unbreakable, DS, etc.
The maps need changed, not one of the few perks that are actually beneficial to new players.

Maybe if there wasn't so many perks that add a substantially amount of time to chases with gens getting done so fast right now most killers won't need a perk that shaves a lot of time from it. Or camping / tunneling, for that matter.
