80% win rate as Pig across various levels of MMR? Can you upload some videos of your gameplay against good survivors? I genuinely ask cause I'm not very good at Pig and would like to improve myself.

I would also like to see some gameplay. Very few good Pig players out there, especially these days.

  • Not at all. It's just Demo and Nemesis mashed together under the name of a different license.

  • I've noticed this too and thought I was crazy. It looked like the screen static you got from those old box-TVs.

  • Go in with low expectations. I'm not even being sarcastic. If you go in telling yourself you're going to, for example, try to have short chases even if it means losing generators, it's a lot easier to deal with bad games.

Or, try some challenges. Otzdarva's perk streak challenges seem like they'd be a nice challenge.

  • I'm only choosing Sloppy because it make self-healing even more miserable. I don't think it's OP, but it's boring.

  • @Gandor said:

Depending on the killer, the map is very fine as is. Huge deadzone and clear LoS in the center is for some killers more, then potential safety of houses.

One does not make the other okay. The Myers house is an infinite against M1 killers. A good survivor can run it literally forever, and even more effectively with MFT/Resilience.

Then skip the challenge. It's not like they're required.

Sure, but it would be nice to get the BP. I don't mind too much, but it's just like, "oh, well that sucks."

The thing is, in my games I see Sloppy Butcher on every Killer who relies on basic attacks. Since Nurse has an Mangled Add On (which almost all of them use, great idea btw to give her an Mangled Add On.../s), I only see Blights and some Weskers without Sloppy Butcher. The rest of Killers I face all use Sloppy Butcher.

And at this point, if you want to heal, it takes so much time that it is not really worth it. Standard Heal time for another Survivor is 16 seconds, but I guarantee you that this is not the average Heal Time you will see in matches.

Oh, I agree that healing time is pretty bad. It's made worse by the fact that medkits are useless if you want to use them on yourself (and, honestly, why? None of them are even unique anymore because nobody uses them to heal other people, so it's the exact same time to heal with a brown as it is a purple.)

I think that one period a while ago where survivors could heal in literally 6 seconds if they had the right items and perks was ridiculous, but I also think that they went too far with how ineffective self-healing is now. They did the same thing to healing as they did to regression because of a few nasty strats (healing in chase/3-gen skull merchant, just for example).

Overall, I think the game is somehow in a better and worse spot depending on which issues/topics you're looking at.

  • I just wish they wouldn't give us challenges for killers that aren't readily available to everyone. I don't have Singu because he's boring to face and looks equally boring to play, so I physically can't do the challenges.

  • Hexes are high risk, high reward. Most times they don't last, but it makes, say, those 5-token Devour Hope games even more special.

  • I understand the argument that a perk should not be 100% uncounterable, but it's such a niche thing that I can't really buy into people complaining about it.

Plus, I mean... if you're facing a killer with Lightborn, that's one of four perk slots that's not being used for a perk that's actually good LOL

  • Easiest way I found of doing it was just putting on MoM and Breakout. Unless the killer is running StBfL or Agitation, if you take a hit in a corner (shack is particularly great for this, assuming it doesn't spawn basement) you're more or less guaranteed to be able to sabo the closest hook and get away.

But if you have my luck, it will result in you being face-camped if you do it multiple times in the same game.

  • Billy needs (yet another) add-on changes. He's very much in the group of killers where it's only worth running like 5 of his 20 add-ons half the time.

Also, hot take maybe, but the purple charge add-on shouldn't have a downside. Make it charge slightly slower if necessary but there's no reason it should make him 4.4.

  • If he's as boring to play as he is to play against, I don't blame people for not playing him.

Truthfully I'm not a fan of most of the killers that have come out in the past year or so. Knight, Larry and Skull Merchant are all such snoozefests to play against. So is Freddy, but for slightly different reasons.

  • @Melinko said:

Resilience does the fast vault but also increases gen repair speed while injured. It pairs well with MFT since they plan to spend most the match injured.

This is the issue I have with the current meta. I don't mind that survivors have strong perks, but I do mind that they have strong perks that take the risk out of being injured. With the haste from MFT, the speed from Resilience, and the countless ways of giving yourself or someone else endurance, there's no reason to heal when you can tank two hits while injured 3/5 times anyway.

  • @appleas said:

I would say this is an issue with GOJ itself as a whole. The main building is too strong and the loop structures near shack can be an issue.

I don’t even know why that god pallet at main building needs to exist.

Not to mention the loop on the opposite side of shack: the long loop in the street that you can't mindgame because of the car, which spawns a strong window, a pallet, and very often connects to at least one gym with another window facing the same direction.

    That map is pain.

  • @Xernoton said:

I'd do daylies more often, if they gave you shards as a reward.

I was thinking this too. Even if it was only like... 25 shards per, I feel like you'd see a lot more diversity even just because it would give more casual players the chance to unlock original characters sooner.

I have found that running a juiced toolbox and prove thyself are the best ways to beat regression killers. You can a lot of times, finish the gens before they have a chance to kick them. However they can still easily win if you don't pay attention to 3 gens. It is very easy to defend a 3 gen on most maps if they are relatively close at all.

As a Trapper player, you are the type of survivor I fear most.

  • @OtakaChan said:

Nope cuz even with iri1 from playing my ass off they still give me potatoes that wanna play hot potato with the killer or body block people because they don't want to go down, or my fav one I could have picked you up off the floor but decided to wait 15 secs to attempt a failed flashlight save lmmfao.

I downed somebody with Agitation earlier because instead of dropping the pallet he tried to blind my bellybutton... He DC'd. The game had literally just started and I was playing Pig with only Jolt for regression. It was essentially a 3v1 and they still only had one gen left when I killed the last person.

There are a lot of... let's say, weak people playing this game.

  • Yeeeeeeah... I've had a fair share of terrible killer games myself over the past few days, but saying the killer has no threat is kind of laughable.

  • I'm not enjoying the current meta for either side to be totally honest with you. Both roles feel like you either stomped or get stomped. I've been playing a lot over the past week (thanks depression) and I feel like I can count on one hand the number of close games I've had either way.

The RBT is the best slowdown in dbd. Only Pinhead and his box come close. This is the reason, why the Pig is actually not that weak. Her chase is very bad but for that reason she has the Trapps to help out with that downside. You buy time to chase so to say. But thats not the only good thing the traps. They can straight up kill survivors without you interacting with them. We are talking about the only killer that can mori survivors without hitting or downing them. Survivors can die cross map from your current position. This is, you can imagine, extremely strong and mosty a complete game changer.

However, as you have probably heard from others, this rarely happens from the traps themselves. Thats where understanding of the RBT-rng, positioning, timing and strategysing come into play. In my opinion, the Pig is one of the most strategic killers if played at a high level. There are multible versions of rng possible per match. Each with their own merrits. There are always 12 searches per match with the default 4 traps. This results in:

    1. 3-3-3-3
    2. 2-3-3-4
    3. 1-3-4-4
    4. 2-2-4-4

You can identify the rng pretty early on. Most survivors dont, which can very often be their downfall. You can predict the rng with a good inner clock while the first survivor walks and checks the boxes. This results in, that the first trap almost always comes off in my games. This however is good. It gives slowdown and info.

1 and 2, i consider slowdown-rng from my experience. This rng gives you reliable slowdown but very little chance for actual risk of the survivor actually dying to them. Good.

This Now, lets look at the rng that seems to be the worst. 3. It is easy to identify because, for some weird reason, the first trap has the one-search VERY OFTEN. This is the headpop-rng. You can very reliably headpop people with this rng. Ive gone on a 7 headpop-win streak last monday because i actually got this rng 7 times in a row. It also feels very common.... Why is this headpop rng you may ask? You have 3 beartraps that need extremely long to get off. When you can manage to get multible of these dangerous traps out and they activate at the same time, it ends in chaos. You will have 2 - 3 survivors running around the map with very little room for error to get rid of the trap. When you know where they have to go, you can be that error. You can harass and interupt them and actually get kills. Again. This requires a very good internal clock (one search takes 12 seconds) very good understanding of pathing (where do they go and how long do they need) and the right positioning on the map (pick your chases where survivors have to go with their traps). Most of the time survivors are injured because they want to get rid of it. You can either down them on the box or hook them. You will also come to realize that this form of pressure can give you free downs. This can be seen as pretty nasty gameplay, so be prepared for -reps. A survivor with an active trap HAS to go to a box. This means, when they are at a loop and you are crouching on the other side (crouching = no chase = traps stays active) they can stay there and have to go trough you. Otherwise they will lose time and die. This seems nasty, is nasty but is extreme pressure that only the pig can provide. You will get free hits, downs and kills with this.

4 is a form of rng that is in the middle of the road because of the double 4 searches. It can lead to head pops, but is more unlikely due to more survivors (2) that are not running around with a RBT in the best case scenario (4-search-traps are active at the same time)

With this knowledge and a good amount of practise, you will be getting headpops pretty reliably.

    Now to her chase.

This also leads me to one perk that you should start to autolock on her. I use it for most of the time i played her and as i said i sometimes play her wit this perk alone. Save the best for last. It is by far the best chase perk you can give her. It helps you to increase your chase potential throughout the match.

Think about it. Your game gets slower due to the Beartraps and your chase gets better due to stbfl. A match made for heaven. Stbfl gives you a lot of time. This is not shown immediately but you will see it eventuelly. The true power of the perk is that the survivor cant just choose the next loop they want to play and shift w to it but has to take the next loop that they have, this may be a good one or a bad one. You dont lose against shift w with this perk.

Now to what is hard. The chase itself. The Pig has one of the worst chasing abillities in the game. The ambush. It takes extremely long to charge (crouch-charge-attack) and has a very loud sound clue. Therefore most good Pigs dont use it that often. This is where your skills as m1 killer come into play. Knowing, how you approach each tile in the game, what mindgames work and what do not. Luckily for you the Pig might be the best m1 killer in the game. She is small, very quiet and has a lot of dark cosmetics. Use this to your advantage. Please, keep in mind though: the shack is extremely unfair against Pig and other m1 killers if played right. Made for this and resilience make hitting people there almost impossible. This tile should be avoided if possible.

Now to the ambush. As i mentioned, it takes very long to charge and therefore many survivors will just leave the loop. Its range is also too short for most loops in the game making it there completely useles. You have to know at what tiles you can use the ambush and at what tiles you can not. I sadly dont have the time and space to write them all down here, so i leave this to you. On top of that, there are "invisible-abush-hitboxes" at some loops, that will just block your ambush alltogether. I know about 7 of them.

Knowledge is key. This is where the addons come into play that i told you about. Combat straps and johns medical file (got buffed - i used it religiously before that as well) These addons let you use your inabillity to hit survivors with you power as a tool to actually hit survivors. At some loops you can crouch and most survivors will just out of reflex leave the loop. Due to the addons, you can just stand up and hit them while running away.

About the other aspects, i have to push into another post, because i dont have much time right now.

Look forward to : Ambush tips and The Moondash.

    BOOP

Somebody send this guy a replica Pig mask. I asked for tips and he's writing me a comprehensive guide. Absolute Chad.

Pig is one of the few killers I prefer using Corrupt on Pig over lethal for early game. It's a good utility to stop survs from spawning on top of gen and getting their objective rolling as quickly.

The objective is to get them to stall with secondary objectives and also try to force any strong one-time perks early on when building pressure. Don't be afraid to use RBT and slug early on. Her stealth and ability to target hop can play well to snowballing into your favor.

Use Bamboozle on her for at least some form of anti-loop if you think you're wasting a lot of time chasing survs around strong tiles.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXoOb37Kr6E

Here's a build/tutorial video by CMWinter. He has a lot of useful information on his channels that will give you a solid foundation on Amanda's load-outs, add-on combos, and gameplay strategy, with some tips and tricks sprinkled in.

Yeah, I like the information from lethal, but I'm finding that I actually know/can predict spawns better than I thought. It's nice to have but after a handful of games with and without it, it doesn't feel as necessary as I thought. I'll give Corrupt a shot! I've been avoiding it only because I'm trying a bunch of different perks; just haven't got around to using it on her yet.

    Hi, I main pig.

I have around 2000h on her now.

    Maybe I can help you.

As funny as it may be, I use the same build as you but it heavily relys on two addons.

Do you want to know more about that or the more special things you can do on chase? (ambush, moondash, optimal usage of crouching)

Btw.... Little thing to know about her.... Losing 2 gens for the first down isn't that bad. Pig is one of the best coomeback killers in this game. You would be suprised how many games i 12 - hooked after losing 3 gens for one hook.

Id say i win around 80% of my matches with her so yeah.... Pretty consistent.

Yes, I've noticed that losing a couple gens isn't the end of the world now that I've played her a bit more. The stall from the RBTs is actually pretty popping (haha, get it?)

Truthfully I'll take any information you want to share! If you feel like writing a long reply and talking about both I'd be happy to read it!

  • @UndeddJester said:

It's a cool idea, I like the principle behind it a lot... but it unfortunately comes with some very severe practical problems.

One of DBDs core strengths is that you can play any character with any perks you wish (if you unlock them), completely tailoring them to your style. The complete build freedom is a great strength of the game....

A change like this makes it so that in order to get the most out of your character you SHOULD feed into your unique perk... and most characters have 1 really good unique perk. Since you will most likely take that unique perk, naturally you take perks that synergise with it, and that stagnates a lot of build freedom for Killers, as there will be one clear "best" build as a result. Then there is someone like Wraith... RIP.

In the case of Survivor we now also introduce a new problem, where no longer can you use your favourite Survivor with whatever build you want... you now have a meta around the survivors themselves. For example: Meg gets Sprint Burst AND Adrenaline. She can take numerous strong perks from other characters and do almost any build while being able to slap these really strong versatile perks with them. Every other survivor has to expressly include them if they want them. Someone like say Vittorio, doesn't really have good perks, his best perks are pretty niche or build dependent... so Vittorio players can take their build, but they are effectively 1 good perk down, and have to accept that they are playing inferior to Meg players and there isn't much they can do about it.

You also get the problem that for killers, that is 1 extra perk, for survivors that is 4. So it's a very cool idea, maybe the issues I'm highlighting won't be that big a deal... but I tend to think that the game would need a massive overhaul to accommodate this change.

Well said. You'd also run into the Overwatch problem where your teammates may or may not flame you for playing somebody you like because their perks are comparatively weak. I don't know about you, but I'd like to keep playing Ash without being flamed even though his perks are situational at best.

We just need other things fixed before adding this; I'm still awaiting the Sadako fix because her power is just making soloqueue hell.

Agreed. That's why I'm not expecting any of the old killers to get better/more unique moris. It would be really cool, but in the grand scheme it's just not that important.

  • I am literally begging the developers to do everything in their power to keep DBD with as few similarities to Fortnite as possible.

  • Give it a bit more time and it will die down. The survivors I've been playing with lately (solo) are already beginning to adapt.

  • Depends on who you play, I think. When I play Trapper I feel like I'm bound to lose like 80% of my games LOL

Remember the days when his power was worth more than putting 3 traps around basement? :')

But then I wouldn't be able to have fun with the "Ninja Doc" build that has a max TR of 54m and a minimum TR of 10. Pairing his Calm Add-On's with Monitor and abuse is the build, and its fun as hell since the survivors never expect it, and can't trust the TR to tell them how Close or far you are anymore. He's the only character who can drastically flip his TR around like this, and OP want's it gone? SMH.

    Bro WHAT

BRB I have to try a certain, definitely-unrelated-to-this-thread build...

  • Ash main here. Evil Dead 2 was one of the first movies that got me into horror, so I was thrilled when he dropped.

Then they nerfed release Mettle of Man and I never saw anybody else play him again LOL

For killers, basically everybody I play I never run into myself. Trapper, Clown, Piggy, Billy, Wraith (to a lesser extent; I see Wraiths from time to time)

  • @TheWarNung said:

Gimme a moment to look at my current builds. I'm currently spectating a match where I died on first hook. Brutal.

One combo I like on many killers, and Pig especially, is the ole' Plaything/Pentimento wombo combo. Top tier teams aren't fazed by it, but top tier teams aren't phased by anything that Pig does. Against everyone else it doubles down on your passive slowdown, which is great.

Gotta love those games where you sit on hook for two minutes. But hey, you get to collect your 5k blood points after... :')

I don't have Pentimento unfortunately. Truthfully, I couldn't even tell ya who that perk belongs to.

  • @TheWarNung said:

Her Ambush ability is trash, so don't even try to use it unless a survivor is trapped at a dropped pallet. A better use for it is to crouch at loops and then immediately stand up again. Survivors will almost always expect you to ambush and will typically pre-run to the next loop.

Never chase a survivor with an active trap. Pig has the best passive slowdown in the game. Make use of it.

Pig, like most killers, is weakest in the early game. Perks like Corrupt Intervention are a Godsend.

As a Pig main, you are legally required to uphold the Law of Booping. If a survivor Boops your Snoot, you must let them live (1 boop per match is all that the Law requires).

Hey, I must be doing something right then! I've already caught on that crouching and then immediately standing is far more reliable than trying to mind game a dash hit.

Also, I've given three survivors hatch or doors today because of boops. I studied the Pig rulebook beforehand.

What other perks would you recommend on her? No Way Out actually bought me a decent bit of time when I used it, but I was struggling sometimes to get my third and/or fourth stacks.

  • Same issue that we run into with any strong perk: it only truly hurts killers who already suck. A Nurse or Blight won't be bothered by MFT (if they even notice it) but a Pig or Trapper may as well have already lost if they go against multiples of it, especially if they eat the endurance hit.

  • Ten seconds is a long time, dude. If you cannot make it to one of the 58 pallets on any given map in ten seconds, that one is kind of on you.

Edit to add: DS, Unbreakable, Sprint Burst, etc. Many perks to help you stay safe and make it to a safe spot.

  • I'm almost positive there's a small chance to have a holdable three-gen that you can defend with even leaving the building, really.

I could be crazy, but I swear I've seen two generators spawn inside and a third spawn at the entrance.

So you missed the update towards the end of last year where they nerfed all the survivor meta perks? How is that a buff, and if that wasnt bad enough they nerfed them again! Meanwhile, sloppy butcher, thanataphobia, corrupt intervention, dead man's switch, ALL SCOURGE HOOK PERKS, call of brine, no where to hide, jolt...and many many more. Killers can make builds where they literally don't need to kick a generator their perks do it for them. They literally just need to keep chasing survivors. Half of these perks at least need a timer. But I doubt dbd would do that to their sensitve entitled killers smh🙄

Bro none of the perks you just mentioned are even that good or reliable other than Pain Res and Corrupt.

There are no survivor perks that come close to the devastation of tombstone. I get that it takes a little longer to build up than usual but that gives the killer time to build up their play with your food so when you do get it, you're moving at a crazy speed. Also, killers have had non stop buffs because you all moan over the slightest inconvenience. MFT isn't that strong, for the people and adrenaline are the only insta heals survivors have and they have huge drawbacks.

Tombstone is a relic of a bygone game, really. Everything about Myers feels out of place in 2023 DBD, but especially those add-ons. They're like a time capsule.

  • @Shroompy said:

    Yes I can

I don't play Blight and I complain about it sometimes.

    I am unstoppable.

  • Truthfully, I'm of the opinion that both of them are lame. Endurance is fine when it applies to borrowed time; hell, even Buckle Up is cool to see utilized when it's not mindlessly paired with FtP.

The issue imo is that the MFT and DH metas both just made already-existing issues worse. I play mostly M1 killers because I like the idea of my wins relying on mind-gaming during chases and similar things, and the fact that a survivor can, for example, chain together connected tiles even more efficiently with MFT is just bonkers to me.

I understand most pubs survivors won't be at the level to do stuff like this, but you can't balance around "average players" if experienced, seasoned players can abuse things that those average Joes cannot.

    Also, buff Trapper... pls :(

  • Do you play on console or PC? I play on PS5 and I was having a similar issue. Turns out my controller was giving out on me and my joystick wasn't registering that I was pushing it forward all the way, so I was moving at like 80% speed instead of 100%.

IIRC, the person who pointed this out to me said you can check the dead zones using control center on a laptop?

  • Swamp boats or docks, Haddonfield houses, Saloon uh... saloon, etc.

Hills don't count for whatever reason, even though they proc balanced landing.

  • Can't lie to you, I'm pretty sure I responded to the wrong post or something. I have no recollection of ever seeing this thread.
