I'd like to see all unhook notifications removed.
No explosion, sound, even perhaps add a delay to the HUD display, show them hooked until their endurance ends. Would help eliminate some of the tunneling that happens.

No because the survivors could tailor their perks to counter every killer.
Which is why everyone should be locked when they hit the pregame menu.
No switching perks, or items. You hit "ready" then you are ready.
Lots of people will wait till 14 seconds left and then several survivors switch to a different character and suddenly there is 3 or 4 flashlights.
They need to do one of two things. Lock your perks and items then send you to pre-game menu or have no pre-game menu.

Soooo....
Your fine with having a very influential and game changing perk 4 times in one lobby?
Yes I would be.
There is plenty of ways to apply the exposed status effect thus making Made For This utterly useless. Instead of countering a perk with another perk, the playerbase was upset they had to change a perk slot for something that was situational and cried nerf!!!
The irony in this, is that when the survivors scream nerf Ultimate Weapon, the response is just run calm spirit as it counters Ultimate Weapon.
The more nerfs and changes the Devs are forced to make, the more unenjoyable and stale the game becomes.

From my experience, nope.
You can change map sides after hooking someone and not return and survivor still want to rub their, sometimes "earned", victory in your face no matter how you play.
I hate that happens to you. I spend more time on killer than survivor side anymore as solo q is just such a horrible experience. In my most recent string of matches, I've had 1 survivor who did the exit gate tea bag. And his own teammates called him out in end game chat. It was a 3k and he was on death hook. Outside of that, I've had no bad interactions but again I play in the way I feel keeps the game from being toxic. I won't tunnel, I won't slug and I won't go back to an unhook unless there is just the 2 survivors left. I have a good experience and I'm not rushing to end the match as fast as possible.

Just had 2 Trapper games on Hawkins map back to back.
The First game I tunneled and camped, got 3K and nobody tbagged and nobody rly said anything other than something about tunneling.
The Second game, I didn't tunnel anyone, I didn't camp even at end game, I went on purpose for the rescuer every time even tho I had chance to go for easy unhooked person and down them again. I got tbagged from all Survivors at gates , got 0K and felt like a clown.
So this is what you get when you play nice hm? I know not every team will do this, but this isn't uncommon for Survivors to look at you down when you giving them a favor. Overall, it's not worth to play nice when you just get yourself less points, less wins and Survivors will just clown with you anyway.
So keep that in mind when you ask killer why he tunnels/camps etc from the start.
So you ran back to the hook for each unhook and are curious why you got teabagged?
Running back to the hook as soon as the unhook happens is going to get you treated like a toxic player by most survivors.
Here's a thought, try hook, leave, hunt someone else and see what happens. My guess is you'll get a few kills and get 0 tea bags.
-
Most killer perks activate via normal gameplay. Hook survivor, get info. Down survivor, blow up gens. Kick gens, get info or slow that gen further. Even Ultimate Weapon falls under that as searching lockers sometimes finds survivors. Other perks don't even require the killer to do anything such as, unhook a survivor get exposed.
Most of the strong perks people run, they run because they line up well with other perks and require no effort/thought from the killer. It just snowballs and builds and works (Yes, there are exceptions but not many).
So why is it so unacceptable for survivors to have a perk that activates from normal gameplay? I will always believe that the biggest issue with Made For This was that it stacked with Hope. If they had removed the endurance and killed the stack with Hope (have MFT deactivate in endgame collapse) there would be no real issue with the perk.
-
People can't handle losing, don't want to practice and get better so they cheat. There is cheats available all over the internet. There are streamers who actively cheat while streaming yet they still have accounts.
It's becoming more and more clear that the Devs don't care about cheating. Would be nice if a killer could DC w/o a penalty when reporting cheaters. Why be stuck in a match with a person that can outrun the killer (and have no speed perks equipped). Literally played against an Ada who had the adept build, yet she sprinted from gens, ran like she had Made Fort This after being hit, vaulted and had a burst of speed like Lithe. It was crazy to watch, recorded, reported and.... nothing back.
-
What will happen is that body blocking off the hook will become the new norm. Survivors will run Made For This simply to body block, gain deep wounds and then loop the killer.
They screwed this up and have created a new problem that will just make people mad in the long run. All they needed to do to the perk was remove the endurance and not allow it to stack with Hope but they've created a new situation that everyone celebrating the demise of the perk haven't thought about.
-
Hook opt outs should go away at the same time as tunneling and slugging.
There is a better than average chance that if you are the first person hooked, you will get tunneled out of the match in the current state of the game. It's just the way killers are playing versus learning how to play killer and improving their skill. People are so against losing a match that they will slug, tunnel, do whatever to get out of the match. As this continues, more and more survivors are just going next versus being tunneled. It's an unfortunate effect.
Now, it is not the only reason people opt out on the hook, some people just don't like Nurse or have a fear of clowns, had a player opt out against Dredge due to the flashing to darkness triggering a migraine but if the community would stop with the toxicity from one side, there would start to be less on the other. Then, it would be easier to just find the players who opt out for no good reason and report them.

I haven't played the event much, but I feel like the only blaring obvious one is Nurse. Since killers can't use powers in the void, she simply can't catch up.
True, but there is no gens to do in the void and no way to heal in the void. If they want to hide in the void and not help the team so be it.
Have to come out eventually, and she can still blink and pick them off when they are out and injured/trying to heal.
-
Abusing them how?
If you mean leaving chase and going to the void, it isn't an instant port in and if you hit them the broken status tells you were they went. The void isn't some magical place where survivors can't be hit. There is no pallets and 2 hooks.
-
If you have to tunnel, you just aren't good at killer or you ran into one of the rarest of rare truly sweaty amazing 4 man SWFs (but there aren't as many of them as people like to believe).
Tunneling is simply the desperate act of an unskilled killer.
Watch streams, watch good killer players, and you will see them get 3 and 4ks without using slug or tunnel.
If you are having to tunnel, ask yourself why and if you have to keep tunneling to win then you aren't actually getting any better at the game.
-
If the last survivor gathers all the belongings do the gates open?
Might make end game more interesting and give maps an stronger use.

I mean.... that's not a bad thing lol. Most of the matches that have issues with toxicity comes from console players in my experience.
As to the topic, I think it would be really cool.
Having seen the void for this event, I'd like to see them design a void like map with that same scheme, it's very cool.
-
Last time I checked, Ultimate Weapon is still in the game even though it causes people to scream while in a locker which has been posted on here by a Mod that is not supposed to be happening.

Let them do a generator or try look for crows, they can't sit still or a crow will snitch on them.
Yes but if they simply walk the map, get in a locker wait 30 seconds and move to a new locker the crows never come. I've watched people do this. Literally spent 20 minutes just annoying the killer by moving from locker to locker. Never leaving a scratch mark or sound.
Eventually, the killer gave up and DC'ed, which sort of validates the behavior in question.
-
The cheating in this game is getting absolutely out of control and the problem is the Devs just don't care.
Streamers are streaming while using cheats and still have their account.
And the more they give boost to perks like Background player or have Made For This in game, people can use their subtle speed cheats and claim it was this perk.
I watched a Jane completely cross Autowreckers map from a gen to a down on the opposite side and get a blind, then claim "Background Player" in end game.
The Devs either need to get serious about cheaters and crack down hard or they are going to lose more and more of their playerbase.
Other option would be to remove perks that allow for speed increase (which is unfair to the playerbase that uses them fairly) but the cheaters would be easy to pick out and weed out.

According to BHVR they don’t nerf perks based on pick rate so either they’re not gonna nerf it just cuz it gets more use, or they will nerf it and then we can clearly point to that to show that was BS in which case they will have to acknowledge they they do in fact nerf based on pick rate.
Someone shared an officialy tweet from the Devs that they were going to "touch-up" MFT.
That text change to WoO being called a "mistake" seemed more like a this is the plan moment and they'll be testing it.
-
It's funny, more and more survivors are using Windows of Opportunity and MFT now. When the devs nerf MFT and probably adjust WoO, killers are going to feast. So many people count on press "w" and run to the yellow thing.
I'm not sure why survivors are just going into muscle memory mode of this is how the game is played, as once it is changed, it will be ugly.

Some people would rather just win the game instead of farming BP and i think that's fine.
Playing to win and playing for fun can be the same thing.
They just need a different game mode during events. So those who just have to win, can go play in a mode that suits them and people who want to enjoy the event and not have a slugging, tunneling, grind like they've never gotten a 4k killer can play the event and have fun.

That last line is ridiculous... wanting to get 4ks as killer is the appeal. Most people play killer to kill. It's fun. Do what you want but you shouldn't be surprised when people play the role as it's intended
When you can score a massive amount of BPs by not being a sweaty player and needing that 4k, it is absolutely unneeded at the moment. To get a 4k when there is 1 gen left or none left and the void has been opened multiple times, sure go for it. However, that isn't what is happening. There is killer's playing chill so everyone scores and has fun (and they let most if not everyone go) and then there is the people I talked about, they are tunneling from the start which is absolutely pathetic during an event.
This is a perfect chance for people to prestige up another killer or survivor they've had sitting around.
Also, for most people I know who main killer, the appeal is the hunt and fear factor. The actual hooking of the death hook means very little to them, but again those people aren't playing the game to get their ego stroked. They play it for fun.

So Survivors should do gens slower with respect to Killers in hopes that the killer won't tunnel them or camp or do anything nasty in survivors rule book.
And Killers should hook everyone, never tunnel and camp to hope Survivors will not take advantage of it and rush gens and tbag at exits or break any other killers rule book.
Well... good luck with that.
I can only speak for the people I play with, but when we are on a survivor team we do in fact do gens slower.
Two will pop so people have the void energy needed. Then it is off to the void and running around finding loose energy and smashing pumpkins. That takes up a lot of time.
When I play killer, I've been very obvious about my intentions. I try to get two hooks on everyone, giving the nod to teammates to go unhook safely. Then it is off to the void, kick pumpkins and send out ghost. Yes, I've even had a few duels in the void which is super fun. But I let all 4 leave and everyone is headed out between 80 and 100k BPs. Which is ideal.
The only people who need to get 4ks during this event are people with fragile egos or people who just don't get 4ks any other time.
-
Love the event, it's fun and unique.
Hate the small portion of the community that takes advantage of the fact that people aren't playing serious.
Be it sweaty trash killer players going all tunnel and playing like it's their first 4k (probably is actually) or the SWF groups that burn gens land rush out.
That match should be slower and people should be in the void. When you meet the rare non-terrible killer and get to enjoy the match the event is really cool.
-
@bm33 said:
This is the problem with there only being one game mode with everything shoved into it. For the events you have everyone on one queue - those that want to play extra sweaty, those that want to play normal, and those that want to mess around with the event. Most events also have added bonus of event BP being tied to objectives which pushes for matches to become more sweaty - survivors only (or mostly) get BP from finishing gens so they focus more on gens, killers then feel like they need to sweat to get their event BP from hooks and secure kills, and it turns into vicious circle.
They should make a separate mode for the event where they can design it to not be a sweat fest. Those that want to mess around with event go to the event queue, those that want sweaty or normal DBD experience go to the normal DBD queue.
You get more BPs for releasing the ghosts and the energy transfers than you do for gens/hooks.
There is other ways to get the energy (smash pumpkins, run around and interact with the floating orbs, once a ghost is summoned, interact with it.) but most people just hyper focus what they know. If people took time to learn about the event and messed around in the void, it would benefit everyone.
As for the sweat fest, I have to say my experience during the event is that it has been all killer side being annoying. I've played Several different killers and once the survivors realize I'm going to the void, and not pressuring hooks, the gens have slowed as they too want to complete objectives and score big in the void. When I try to play chill on survivor side, every other match is a killer that's playing like they need a 4k to survive.
-
@PotatoPotahto said:
Survivor's way of progressing the event objective: smash gens
Killer's way of progressing the event objective: get hooks
That's, like, the intended gameplay of the event: your usual sweaty gameplay
Except you can progress it with the objects on the map as well, but sure killer needs hooks and survivors need gens. Neither side should be "racing" to get either as the quicker the match ends, the less void time and the less BPs.
It's just the in-ability of a portion of this community to turn off the uber competitive I gotta win mindset.
-
@Nazzzak said:
The complaints happen during every Halloween and Christmas event. I think too many people expect to have their cake and eat it too - if you spend your time messing with the Void/event objectives, and the other side doesn't, then you'll probably lose the game. The best games I'm having are those where both sides are messing with the Void, it's actually quite fun.
This and all of this.
When you go into a match and everyone has their 100% increase thing and people just kick pumpkins and gather stuff and activate ghost, the match is entertaining and everyone leaves with a huge BP gain.
Then you get the other side of that, where you go to transfer energey and the killer runs up and downs you and does the no head shake, and they just go super hard trying to get that first 4k.
The competitive side should be off during the event, but for some killers this is their one chance.

Ok, what it has to do with anything, that I just said?=)
The point of my thought - The buffs are WAY too niche (90% useless), for the time you spending to achieve these useless buffs.
From the personal expirience, going in and out of the portals to get those ghosts will 100% cost you a lose in a match.
The current paste of the game as a killer - simply does not allow you to waste any time on a side objects.
Imo - Developers should've made it so "While portals are active - gens are blocked" So everyone should participate in the event.
But the thing is - void realm map is way too small. And if all 4 survivors are going in - it's a free win for killer.
You called the void realm a safe haven. It is not that. There is a hook in there, survivors can be slugged and left in there.
You have to stop thinking about each match as a "I must have a 4k to enjoy myself" and think of it as a single match where you are going to try and complete an objective. Learn about the realm, the fastest way to get energy, how to tell when survivors are in the realm, etc.
Complaining about an event on day 1 and literally a few hours into the event is just kinda short sighted.
-
There is a hook in the void realm... It's not a safe shelter.

OPs statement was that she was Ok to play.
I said the kill rates were far from Ok. She received a rework, because the kill rates were inconsistent. We had a few streamers that only killed with condemnation and normal players that could never condemn. A killer who´s power revolves about condemnation should have a consistent way to apply that power.
Her power is meant to be a slow-down, not a super quick build up to an easy 4k.
Most powers are meant to slow or find survivors. Her power is currently out of control.

Haven't tried the killer side, yet, but even with the survivors it is a tad bit too complicated. I mean, the main focus is still the usual way you play DbD, of course. But trinkets? They replace nodes so that no new challenges need to be added.
Will we have enough trinkets to purchase everything?
Play the normal way while doing side tasks that you need to do which all the while killers have to do nothing different to get things done and simply turn the match/event into a miserable sweat fest.
Slugged in the void realm is super fun new thing... lol

Ofcoaurse there are bad situations where the survivors reaches the end of their rope, it happens to me like anyone else. What Im saying is the responsibility of awareness and tile knowledge rests with each individual. Deadzones continue to popup throughout the match, running to one due to lack of knowledge doenst excuse the survivor of making that poor decision. Even then a pallet isnt always needed to make distance and escape. At the very least a survivor can make the attempt and if the killer counters everytime, well good for them, they outplayed the survivor.
Theres a time and situation for everything even tunneling. The tactic can be a double edge and easily backfire or it can turn the tide of a losing match.
As I stated in a previous reply.
No one calls out tunneling at late game. But the trend lately is run Lethal, find a survivor, down them, and tunnel them out at 4 or 5 gens.
That's scummy and shouldn't be allowed.
Whenever I see a tunnel at 4 or 5 gens it makes me instantly ask "how bad is this player?" It isn't hard to play the match normal, kick gens, run regression perks, get 10 to 12 hooks and win the match. But a large portion of the playerbase doesn't want to play a match, they want a shortcut to a 4k. It's damaging for the game and community as a whole.

though I guess if you noticed it more recently that’s not it? Can’t say I noticed it more than usual recently..
North America. It was a thing every once in awhile, but it is literally every match now. So much so I was starting to wonder if it was a new exploit. It certainly favors the killers as they are getting hits that are "questionable" we shall say lol.

Ehhhhh, yeah that last part isn't true.
Good Killer players don't tunnel when they don't need to. Tunneling is in a unique position. It's something that's absurdly strong at low levels and usually a crutch, painfully bad at mid levels and nearly required (depending on the Killer and Survivor skill) at high levels.
I agree a late game tunnel is totally different, but that isn't the tunnel people complain about on the forums or even in a post game chat.
The only time I've ever seen anyone bad mouth a killer for tunneling is when it is the first hook and just hard core tunnel. 5 gens or 4 gens and the killer is sprinting back to that hook to get that same survivor before they can heal.
That's beyond pathetic and no one that is any good at this game does that.
2 gens left, 1 gen left, and you need to tunnel to pressure. I get that trying to turn the match around or save atleast a 1 or 2 k.
-
@DemonDaddy said:
Survivor has to fail multiple times before being hooked; failed to hide, failed to escape chase before injury, and failed to escape chase before being downed.
Because it is super hard to hook a survivor in a area that you had a chase with no pallets left and leave them in a deadzone where two hits is kinda easy to pull off.
Tunneling is the last grasp tactic of a bad killer. It's just that simple. I saw a Dredge tunnel and his excuse for the tunnel to the survivor he tunneled was "I broke chase because why chase the good survivor when I can tunnel the weaker survivor."
Funny thing is, the other survivor was someone I know, and a better looper than me who he abandoned chasing. It's just the ability to get someone down when they are in a dead zone and haven't had a moment to look around.
I never see good killer players do it.

Doesn’t affect Myers at all, survivor unhooks and gets instantly Mori’ed.
They’d need to use certain add-ons and do a bit of stalking beforehand though..
I've seen the videos of that, it's kinda funny.
It's super situational, but some streamer is going to have it happen and cry about it enough that it gets forum posts about it and they'll rework Myers Tombstone or something dumb.
-
It's funny how many more Hags are showing up today.
The anti anti-camp. Hag trapping the hook area to get the trade.
-
I played a Pyramid head that literally placed a survivor in the basement, camped upstairs with all their trails around the exits. Waited. Survivor unhooks, hits them on the stairs to kill endurance, survivor hits trail and screams, killer then hits and downs them and drags them back to the basement.
Super effective tool they've added. Just a new way for toxic players to make people miserable.

90 seconds will make this perk hot garbage tho.
30 second CD is far too short, it is insanely strong at 30 seconds.
30 seconds to run around the map, locate everyone, cause them to stop healing, working on gen, etc. And there is no drawback from the killer.
The CD should be atleast 90 seconds for the value this perk gives.
-
All they would need to do is have it last 30 seconds then go on CD for 90 seconds. Would require players to be more selective when they use it versus just spam it on CD.
It's stronger than the Dr.'s power, which is insane. No perk should replace a killer's power.

Why would it be out of spite? Killer is doing his only objective.
Just like survivors that only do gens. Or would you say that they do it out of spite?
If survivors "only" do gens, they will lose the match unless the killer is terrible. I've watched it happen from both sides.
As a solo cue survivor seen a teammate refuse to leave their gen when two people are hooked and I'm in chase with the survivor. I pull them away from the hooks but nope... other survivor plays gen simulator.
As a killer, had people die on first hook because I'm chasing someone and the other two want to pop their gens.
Real gen rush takes a group effort and a great looper.

I chased a Feng who was healthy and running with a speed boost that MFT gives. Snuck up on her at a gen later and she sprinted away with the same magic speed. End game, no speed perks at all equipped, in fact had no perks equipped. I didn't record, so what can you do?

The same could be said about killers using aura perks to cover wall hacks. Most try and pass it off as BBQ&Chilli, and you can only pick it if you run Distortion.
Another great use of Distortion, which is an under-rated perk.
-
The rare times I do see one, you get one opt out on first hook and one person that runs right to the killer after and gives up.
I don't know about anyone else but to me that's just boring gameplay. When people just give up at the start against a killer I'm playing it ruins the match for both sides. I'm sure there is still a handful of killer mains that love the easy 4k's but I prefer an actual match.
So, between the bugs, and upcoming nerfs and people not trying against the killer, I'm guessing people are off to other killers.

What? Thats just a poor play on your part. If we do the math here we've got one survivor on hook and one going for a save so only two people doing gens. Now we walk away and get someone off a gen and we go to one.... but wait now the other two are on gens because they reset when you walk away so now weve got three people on gens and one in chase. Not a great gen defense plan.
Now if we play it differently and go trade hook or redown the unhookee should they block Ive now got another hook and a chase meaning another persons got to go for the save meaning now we've only got one person on the gens. Ergo the better gen defense is to occupy as many survivors as possible and not just make sure they arent touching them at that exact moment.
Bad math.
Two at hook, have to go heal while running sloppy butcher so it takes longer.
Take chase of another with scratched mirror is easy and now only 1 person is on gen. Down the next person and someone again has to run across the map to rescue.
This actually makes a survivor need to be in constant motion, off of gens and running to a hook. I'll never understand why killers don't grasp that. Hook on one side of the map, go hook on the other side next. This makes someone need to be running and rescuing and not on a gen.
So check your math again.
Your way - trade at the hook. 2 stay on gens (and finish their gens) while you have one hooked and one injured.
My way - There is 1 on a gen, one running to unhook, one hooked and one being chased.
-
I'm shocked Ultimate Weapon isn't listed. I've seen it in most matches anymore.
-
I play more killer than anything. Dredge, Scratched mirror Myers are my two main plays. With scratched mirror I can see through walls, see survivors running to save, and I still walk away.
Why? Because I have gens to defend not a hook.

No worries.
From my experience in the game and from what I've seen mostly posted on these forums, you are the minority for ending up back at a hook.
As @Krazzik said in an earlier post "much of the time it will be because they're proxy-camping and just wanna tunnel" and that is what I've seen the most. And those are the people that come on here and cry about basekit BT and being called a camper/tunneler, when they are playing that exact style.
The people who don't play that style normally aren't called out for their play and if they are, they can calmly explain why they didn't actually tunnel versus coming here to find people to take their side.

Easy.
Hook, down another survivor, hook them and if no one is readily available via bbq then back to previous hook.
I am not tunneling, I am not camping or proxy camping. it's a result of cumulative misplays on the survivors part and if at that point they take the bt hit, they have it coming X10.
You left the hook to hook another, at that point all is fair. That's good killer play and if they don't see the chase is happening and take that time to go unhook, then they screwed up.
But you also can't be called out for tunneling since you hooked two different people already.

You're not the boss of me.
If I know where 2 people are, I'm not going to go look for a third, you can unhook safely or someone goes up. I give people a chance to unhook when I want to, if I don't, I don't. I won't be bossed.
You can take your time-out whenever you want, but I'll put you on a hook if I see you lounging around. If you don't like how I kill, run.
You realize that eventually they will add more features to prevent killers from doing this right?
Basekit BT to prevent tunneling.
Auto-unhook to prevent the facecamping.
Instead of using all the perks the game has and actually.. playing, hunting, you doing the thing... this is the mentality of a majority of killer mains. Keep playing that way, and the Devs will step in and make another mechanic that forces the change, versus players being smart enough and mature enough to go, let's make the change ourselves so that when it is needed to hit a person near hook they aren't protected by a mechanic.
Basekit BT never would have been needed had killer mains been better at the start.
