As already mentioned there's numerous reasons for a killer to be near the hook as the unhook happens.

The survivor is unhooked before the killer has even had a chance to properly leave. This is actually a lot more common than you'd think, especially when it's a confident SWF. Infact if you're against a SWF they're even MORE likely to bodyblock with BT for their friend as well.

The killer does leave and looks for other survivors and just doesn't find any for a while. If the hooked survivor is still hooked, may as well head back and confirm another hook stage or catch someone going for the unhook. Depending on perks and how stealthy the survivors are, this can happen decently often. Yes aura reading perks can help but some can be played around and Distortion/OTR are popular perks which just stops them working. Also not everyone has bought the Alien chapter so don't have that locker-scream perk.

The killer does find someone and chases them and for some reason that survivor takes the chase back to the hook. This happens decently often as well, either because they're doing an archive and NEED that unhook, or they're just dozy.

There's three perfectly-probable reasons for the killer to be nearby as the unhook happens that aren't laziness/camping, and they're all things that do happen to many killers. Yes, much of the time it will be because they're proxy-camping and just wanna tunnel, but often it's not that, and to imply it's always just lazy, evil killers is silly.

And in those cases, as I even said multiple times. That's on the survivors, hit them. However, again... those situations are the minority of times.

You said it yourself "Yes, much of the time it will be because they're proxy-camping and just wanna tunnel" but instead of addressing that issue people want to defend it because someone used a mechanic to block a hit from a killer being a bad player and lazy.

I've played in SWF groups where we rush the hook and get our teammate off quick and scatter. Not once have we called the killer a tunneler when we are the ones diving in. The OP talks about being called out for tunneling, and that I've only seen happen when the killer has no real reason to be at the hook. I'm yet to see people claim tunneling when they do an instant unhook, or a survivor running right at them.

So, as soon as I see that they've been called out for tunneling, makes me believe that the survivor was waiting and they proxy camped and went sprinting back. So the teammate took the hit to avoid the trade.

Bless your heart for trying to psycho analize what I play in a videogame for having an opinion. You'd be surprised if you knew the truth mate. I play the role that has incentives, and when it's survivor I play solo 90% of times, and in the last place I play with 1 or 2 friends and we are not even talking about the game while on call and we are just having a chat about anything regarding our personal lives.

This is not some esports ######### you want it to be, sorry to break it to you.

If all of that was true, you wouldn't have such a strong opinion about a change that doesn't impact you then....

And I agree and that's how the average match goes because the last time they shared stats indeed the balance goes in favor of the killers since there are more sacrifices than escapes. Survivors go completely blind to the match and so should killers. From there, we see how much different results get. Case closed.

    lol talk about entitled.

My opinion is this and therefore "Case closed"

I get it, you're a survivor only type of player and the fact that you'd lose the chance to tramble killers in your SWF group upsets you. But the reality is, the balance would be correct. You have comms and co-ordination that soloQ doesn't have at all. And you'd face killers that understood that and were prepared for it. Not killers who figure it out when 3 gens pop from BNPs being used at the start as your best looper runs them around the other side of the map.

If you wanted balance and a challenge not easy mode, you'd have no issue with this change.

I think @jamally093 is saying that they swung at a survivor in a pallet, and what happened was:

    - the survivor got hit and made a "getting hit" sound, then...

    - they got stunned, then...

    - the survivor, as if by magic, became un-hit and was healthy instead of injured

If that's what you're describing, that seems to be a problem with internet speeds. The survivor had already dropped the pallet according to the server meaning you were already stunned according to the server, but the server did not yet send that info to your computer yet. Your computer therefore let you swing and injure the survivor, but then it told you "oh no you were stunned before you swung so that hit never actually counted"

It stinks but it's unavoidable especially if your internet is having a bad day and happens to both sides

    Gotcha, thank you.

Yeah, sounds like a weird ping/server resolving itself issue.

No. I’ve played this game long enough to know that it’s extremely common for Survivors to unhook in the killers face.

All you’re doing is removing all responsibility from Survivors and placing it on the killer. I’d argue it’s lazy for the Survivors to expect the Killer to go after someone else and let them easily reset.

Killer has 4 perks, Survivors have a combined 16. They can use a fraction of that amount and select some quick healing/escape/anti-tunneling perks. With how strong most maps are for Survivors, it’s super easy to take advantage of them and loop the Killer. They can stop being lazy and get better and bring in appropriate perks like you expect killers to.

Regardless of the above, the point isn’t a gameplay issue. It’s the fact that as long as the player (either role) plays by the developers rule set, no one should disparage them for actions they may have taken throughout a match.

Did you see the part about almost always....

If the survivor is foolish enough to run right up on top of the killer, then smack them.

That doesn't happen often. Between matches I've watched on stream or matches I've been in or matches my friends have been in or matches discussed in a DBD Discord server, the issue is almost always the killer running back to the hook or staying close by.

If the survivors are dumb enough to unhook right in front of you, so be it but you know as well as anyone else posting here that if the killer is walking away and the terror radius is gone, they will turn and sprint back when they hear that unhook sound, even if they have seen an aura elsewhere.

And that is what I call lazy. I've watched killers break a chase to go back to hook on numerious occasssions because the people at the hook are easier targets.

It was explained to you before why the killer would still be near the hook.

    * All Survivors who are not hooked, slugged, in chase, or dead are a threat. They all have the potential to work on gens, blind, pallet stun or body block The killer while they’re chasing someone else.

    * You assume the Killer didn’t leave. Maybe they did and didn’t find anyone. Maybe the didn’t have any tracking perks and the teammates hid before he got to their generators. It’s stupid to waste time looking around when they could make their way back to the hook in hopes of chasing the potential unhooker or forcing a second hook stage or death. Like you recommended for killers to restrict their perk choice, survivors too can do the same and bring in perks to help them get away such an Off the Record and DS. Despite what people on the forum says, DS is still powerful in a capable players hands. Combine that with Head On and Flashbang and you can waste a lot of the killers time.

    * Could be a Sabo/flashlight squad who are constantly hovering around the killer. I found lots of them to be impatient or overconfident and unhook in the killers face without giving them time to walk away. Why should the killer make the stupid decision and walk away from the hook and let the enemies reset? He shouldn’t, he should go after them.

*Killer could have hooked in a three gen. It’s stupid to leave.

    * Survivors could have massively misplayed and given the killer two hooks right next to each other. It’s very stupid to leave when they could force two people to go into second stage or trade hooks.

In the end, it’s irrelevant and all you’re doing is shifting the blame from the survivors misplay to the killer. That is wrong. The killer already made an attempt to go after someone else. The unhooked survivor had an opportunity to find a safe space and have someone else heal them and instead chose to take aggro. They lose the right to complain about tunneling and dying and they definitely have no right to disparage the killer in endgame chat. Heck, even if they did camp and tunnel, no one deserves to be disparaged and insulted for playing a video game.

The first post states "if a unhooked survivor gets in my way"

That says they were near a hook. It doesn't say why. There is so seldom a good reason to be around the hook. Almost always (Note, almost was stated) it is just laziness.

BBQ and Chili shows you so many targets the moment you hook a survivor.

Ultimate Weapon allows you to open a locker and hunt the map looking for a target.

    etc, etc, etc...

It is super easy to hook and find someone new to chase in the current state of the game.

What is happening more and more pretty much every game at the moment, is the killer hooks. Walks away a little bit and looks around for the person to come rescue and chases that survivor to the hook looking for a trade. That's why people use the body block and that's why people call it tunneling. The killer knows exactly what they are trying to do, get hooks without having to do any work. It's lazy.

  • @Trex_Crazy said:

Since they added base kit bt, and the little speed boost, after unhook. The unhooked survivir tends to block fo their savior who is usually full health. I know some people dont like that fact and I di think its a bit odd and an unintended consequence of attemting antitunneling mechanics. The only issue, which isn't really an issue as it tends to lead to free wins, that arises is if a unhooked survivor gets in my way I just end up eating the endurance then downing them again. Some of the people have complained about tunneling but at that point you're asking for it if you're impeading my path to my only other known target. Thoughts?

Everytime this topic comes up, my answer will always be the same.

Why are you at the hook anyways that this is an issue?

There is 4 survivors. 1 hooked, 1 getting them off the hook and 2 working on gens.

You are focused on the 2 who are not a threat (needing to unhook, and heal and get back into working on a gen) vs using any of the really useful information perks and going after the other 2 who are working to finish gens.

If you aren't near a hook, this would never be an issue.

    Hook.

    Leave.

Find a new survivor on a gen and attack.

    Repeat.

If they use it when there is only 2 survivors left, welp that's a fair down as you've clearly not tunneled.

But if you are near the hook when 4 survivors are still up (unless they follow you to hook like a moron) then you should never have a problem.

not only killers, if you're the sole survivor in a 3person SWF means you'll have a miserable time

Yes it does, I even stated that in my original post. Being the one means you need to be prepared to take care of yourself.

You are really choosing on purpose to not see the problem of what you’re saying and what it would cause so there is nothing I can do for you to understand it if I didn’t yet. In any case they are removing more and more information from the lobby with time, which is awesome for everybody, so… your thing will never happen because it just does not make any sense. Too bad.

Which means that you can still group up with 3 friends, use comms and bully a killer to get easy matches. Congrats.

A good match is 2 dead, and 2 out. That's competitive and fun and balanced. However, most people on this forum I've come to learn want a landslide win and anything that maight hamper their ability to get that is viewed as "entitled" or problematic.

I actually play more survivor than killer, and when I'm in a full group I completely expect a sweaty intense match from the killer since we are running builds that combined with Discord are honestly OP and broken. But since the devs can't ban Discord and aren't going to break combos this would atleast give people the choice to avoid a sweat fest when they don't want one.

If you've ever played on a Friday or Saturday night, you'd realize MMR is more non-existant than usual. If you've even been a back-fill killer you'd realize why this isn't an issue to have this information.

You see if from your point of view only, as a survivor main that wants to play with 3 friends, never wait and do exactly what you want.

Picture it from the other side. For example, I loaded into a match with a brand new killer I had just purchased. Used some blood points I had saved to unlock 4 slots and try a build on. The lobby loads, I see 4 people all low level in appearance. They wait and then right before the clock strikes ready, all 4 switch characters. P70 and above, all four with flashlights and now I'm locked in. Clearly I was a back fill killer and you can imagine how miserable the match was when you are using a killer for the first time. But in your eyes, that's all good. The survivors had a great time...

Then instead of trying to punish people for playing with their friends why don't you bring up the possibility of the creation fo 2 queues, one to rank up in a ranking system so those who want to "sweat" can show off they do it in a competitively designed queue and another casual one? There could be restrictions in perks, addons and stuff for one or the other (most likely the rank one). Or push solo Q to be to the same level of swf like they've been doing with the latest changes (HUD, etc.), so you can expect most teams to be coordinated enough.

Understand for once and for all that you can NOT punish people for playing with their friends in any game, ever. Adding this feature will make groups of friends wait in lobbies for 20 minutes out of fear of "what if they are one of those?" and killers thinking those games will be harder, and then they'll get smashed by solo Q and we will hop onto complaining about solo Q, and it's a vicious cycle. And please, if you are thinking about it already... don't bring up TCM doing it, because it's literally a team vs team game where BOTH can do it so nobody has the upper hand, with in-game comms and chat, Dbd has nothing in common with TCM.

I agree with you on the last one, I've always pushed for an idea like that! Pre-match lobby is such an outdated feature imo and doesn't serve any purpose with how they're trying to push the game (avoid dodging and targetting).

I don't see it as punishing people for playing with their friends.

Yes, people will shop lobbies and there is already ways to have an idea if you are playing against a premade group but there will be no shortage of killers that want to go all out and will take on a 4 man SWF group. What this eliminates is the ability of a 4 man to have a super easy game against an unprepared killer.

The only reason people would be against this, is that they realize playing with their friends no longer gives them the easy matches against killers that aren't prepared for it. This isn't going to wreck cue times for SWF groups, but it is going to take away the games where they get to just steamrolll a killer and that is what has people like you upset.

  • So, you were stunned as the killer?

    I'm a little confused here.

There is a lot of perks that survivors run that keep them from being downed (Dead Hard, etc) but I think I'm missing part of this story?

  • I think hacking/cheating is becoming more common place since there is multiple people on Youtube or Twitch that play matches using these cheats and doing so openly with no consequences.

If BHVR isn't going to shut down the streamers that are openly doing it, what's to stop more and more random people from doing it?

I never get upset when it is something in game (like the flashlight + locker exploit) since that was a dev side glitch that they needed to fix. But people who are downloading cheat packages that allow them to jump, fly, insta-repair, insta-heal but also just allow them to press a button and get a speed boost on demand that's going out of your way to cheat and that just sucks.

Edit - Just want to add this note before anyone says the locker exploit is the same as downloading cheats, no it isn't. The locker exploit was on the devs side, they were aware of it and it was going to be fixed quickly just like it was. If it really bothered you, you had to take 2 days off from the game before flashlights were killswitched. Now, people going out and downloading a cheat package is a completely different type of thing.

  • My favorite recently was an Elodie with no perks equipped but she could vault and sprint, or in open space sprint away from a gen then once I managed to get a hit on her, wouldn't you know it... Made For This haste. Just makes me laugh, like be less obvious lol.

why sure we go to the exit gate to push them out when we loss?

I had one survivor stay till the last sec no one what left

also had another survivor 1 making noise jumping through something

what is with survivors? push survivors out is not the killer job killing survivors and trying stop gen is are job.

what does survivors get out be so toxic and entitled?

I am completely in favor of a Blood Warden activation if survivors linger in the exit gate for no reason. If one of your teammates is unaccounted for and you've managed to open the gates, I get waiting and healing up to make the save. But if you have everyone safe and at exit, Blood Warden should activate for 60 seconds after say 10 seconds maybe 15 of lingering. With a very audible sound for the killer to know where to go.

You'd see survivors sprinting out the exits or at least lingering in play till all were accounted for and then sprinting out.

Isn´t that like... the same thing what happens when survivors wait the full 2 minutes at the exit gate?

Wasting time for a tiny amount of bloodpoints. When they could already be in a new match?

Survivors at the exit gate are just as annoying as killers slugging at the end for the 4k.

    It's pointless.

Exactly. Like I don’t get the obsession and hyperfixation people have with wanting to know everything beforehand like if they didn’t know people will use it to harass or dodge directly. Give all that info later on if anything, never before. There is a reason why survivors don’t know beforehand the killer they face lol. Like no seriousness at all when people ask for all these pre-match information, you can tell they are so blinded by “I HAVE TO WIN I JUST HAVE TO!” mentality and they can’t think seriously for 2 seconds and see it would kill the game.

It is actually the opposite of I have to win that I made this suggestion.

I play to have fun, I like to use meme builds and not be in super sweaty matches.

I've never been in a match with a full 4 man SWF group where they weren't just going out of their way to try and make the match as annoying as possible. This change would make those groups go against killers that want the sweat fest and will make it as miserable for that 4 man as they like to make it for every random killer.

Be nice to just play a match and not have to worry about all 3 survivors diving to the hook to try to prevent you from hooking their teammate, or trying to drag you to head-on hits, or the co-ordinated buckle up, for the people, saves happening multiple times.

Those things are fine for people who want to play at a super competitve sweat level. However, those of us who just want to relax while playing, being able to go "nope" to those groups would be nice.

And if the devs don't want us to have any info or be able to "lobby shop" then why is there even a pre-match window? Why not just go from clicking find match, to joining match.

  • The only thing that is damaging DBD is the playerbase.

Every PvP game has it happen. The community becomes more and more toxic and the casuals and people who made it fun or took it lightly move on.

Left is a small portion of die hard fans of the game, some trolls, a few hackers who like to annoy people, some streamers who have too much input on the game due to a group of grown people worshiping them and a bunch of people who just have to be the best at everything, if they lose it was a hack or someone else's fault or this perk is OP or etc, etc...

    That gets old.

  • @caipt said:

Crouching in the exit area activates blood warden for 60 seconds.

why should I hook the other survivor and risk the survivor still sanding getting hatch?

So you didn't realize to the end of the game that this player had made for this? You never hit them and went, oh this dude has MFT, and might have it stacked with Hope.

Why should you hook the survivor. Well 2 reasons:

    1) As you learned the hard way and now want to nerf something over, if you leave someone down it can go from a 3k to a 2k because you made poor choices. I feel zero sympathy for you if you left someone slugged.

    2) Slugging is just scummy. You left someone laying around wasting their time cause you wanted to play a certain way and make sure you got your precious 4k. Meanwhile, when it didn't work out you came to the forum upset that another player using a completely valid build and playing the way they wanted to ruined your day. Do you see the irony here?

  • @pizzavessel15 said:

I just had a survivor OUTRUN the entire timer of no way out, run around the ENTIRE MAP FOUR TIMES, run to her teammate and pick her up infront of me, get endurance from mft, then run an ADDITIONAL TWO MORE TIMES AROUND THE WHOLE MAP before getting caught. this is not balanced in the slightest and I refuse to believe the devs think this is balanced. this is arguably more broken than old dead hard.

    Just a question.

You had a survivor down, and chased the other one. Why not hook the downed survivor? Can't get endurance for healing if you don't leave them the option.

  • Well for one thing, Xeno was a bug fix. They tend to rush bug fixes out.

  • @mizark3 said:

Because no matter how much of a crutch Made for This is, it doesn't stand against a player with sufficient gamesense. Don't get me wrong, the endurance should be transplanted onto a different perk, but the speed isn't as uncounterable as people make it out to be.

I didn't realize I still left my Anniversary meme build on Nemmy for the daily, and with Deadlock as my sole slowdown, I could still take on 3 MfTs. (No early kills either, seeing the lowest BP Survivor getting 17k.)

    Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....

We can't have common sense in a nerf a perk discussion.

On a serious note, I completely agree with you that the only thing that needs removed is the endurance. The haste can be dealt with and again, they have to stay injured to get the bonus.

Oh, and I would agree with others about it stacking with Hope, cause that is kinda insane.

  • @Maelstrom808 said:

Afraid of tunneling? No, not really. What I hate is turning it into a 3v1 before they've even finished a gen or two. Even accidently, which happens too often (you miss someone going to second stage on hook, or mix up similar cosmetics).

I know even if you discount the player base that actively hard tunnels from the start, the vast majority of the remaining killers would just shrug their shoulders and be glad for an easy win. Speaking for myself however, it only ruins the game. I like the challenge of a 12 hook game. That's why I hated DCs, still hate people who afk or give up on hook.

Often once I know the game is over and I have it in the bag, I'll just let the remaining survivors go. The challenge is gone at that point, I don't care about the actual "win". I know I won, which is good enough for me, and they can get their bp and challenges done and we can go on to the next game. When I accidently tunnel someone out at 4-5 gens to go, we basically hit that point early and playing out the rest of the game is just going through the motions. I'd rather just afk and browse on my phone or something.

There is not many players that actually do this in game. I hope you actually do this but it's just interesting to read the forums were you'd believe every match was against a super oppressive SWF group and that killers don't tunnel on purpose.

But then there is the reality.

Every match for the past few weeks has been ultra sweaty, hard tunneling, killers. It's like people have never gotten a 4k before and are just super desperate for one.

I understand it when there are tome challenges up and you see Clown after Clown going for the 4k to get the outfit, but right now there is nothing that makes it a need.

Saw another person type it after a match, and I've adopted it as well. No more "ggs" it is now "hey, congrats on your first 4k."

I mean if the person does not do gens, he is ruining the match for others, should not there be a punishment for such players?

There is, it is a report option for not participating.

But also, how do you know they aren't participating. Some people do solo cue so they can do their tome challenges. Maybe they need glyhps or totems or chest or blinds or stuns or destroying hooks or etc, etc.

Just because someone isn't doing a gen doesn't mean they are just AFK.

As to the idea itself, it would get out of hand quickly and it wouldn't take long before survivors would kill the other survivor at the end to get hatch or ruin a 4k/achievement for a killer they deem toxic.

I mean, I found someone to hunt, I dont want to go through 3 different health states because someone with BT or Off The Record/DS is blocking the way, especially if they are not the person I was going for, since I go for the unhooker. And I dont understand how bodyblocking with BT is seen as "strategic" but the consequences of that strategy pins the Killer as "lazy" when it is inherently the Survivors fault and can be avoided.

Maybe it is "lazy" for all I know, but I play Killers that are rather weak and use gimmick builds like Trail of Torment + Dragon's Grip for Exposed Fishing or a Backpack build using Mad Grit, arguably I work harder to get hooks than people who just run 4 slowdown/meta perks every match.

I play scratched mirror Myers and Dredge. I'm just never around a hooked survivor so my opinion might be jaded. I just know when I play on survivor side in solo cue I see a lot of things out of killers that I think "that's so trashy, I'd never play like that." But, it's all about optics I suppose.

It hasn't escaped my notice that alot of the MFT discussion centred around the activation requirements being "too easy," ie getting value without much risk. We now have UW, whose activation requirements are negligible and those same folk haven't made a peep since.

UW activation is even less risk when placed on Huntress or Trickster who have a normal reason to be in lockers often.

I always find it funny that people say MFT was too easy and there is no risk. I mean, other than spending the entire match injured of course... MFT versus a stealth killer or a killer running any number of perks to remove or transfer the terror radius doesn't do much. It just means you have to hit them and let them sprint their MFT using butt away and catch them at a later time while still injured.

I've watched so many good streamers playing killer where they get a hit and leave and go get another hit on another survivor. Just injurying the entire team and then bam, rolling up suddenly on a guy with MFT when it just doesn't help them.

    Ahem... This (Below).

Also perks like Off The Record and DS exist, some Survivors will just run across the map and get in the way of chase just to use them sometimes. But people like to jump the gun and assume Im camping or proxying the entire time.

And that is one thing I even said, if they are right there then that is on them but more often then not it isn't the case if they are complaining.

The they run in and didn't give me time then cried I camped or tunneled happens about as often as the truly sweaty 4 man SWF crews. Sure it exist but most the time these complaints are coming from solo cue.

If you get a dumb dumb who runs in and unhooks instantly, go get them. Even if the person on hook takes a hit, get the dumb one. It's the natural order of life. Ever seen a Lioness hunt?

But again, as I said and you didn't reply too.

MOST of the time when this complaint happens, it is the killer hooks. Then strolls away but not too far to bait someone in, then tails that person back to get a free trade. It isn't a case of "oh, they walked past me." No, it's a case of being lazy.

Plenty of reasons to be near the hook, it’s not “lazy” it’s called being efficient.

    • Killer was leaving the hook, intercepts a survivor, survivor continues to go for the rescue and killer follows.
    • Killer wastes time checking nearby gens, finds no one due to either no one being there or they’re hiding, gets the unhook notification and goes back to chase the unhooker.
    • Killer hooks someone and their altruistic teammates swarm the hook, which happens often, before the killer could even think to patrol gens.
    • Hooked survivor is in second stage and 2 or less gens are left, perhaps even egc. The smart thing to do would be to push for the kill.
    • Survivors, like they often do, three gen’d themselves and one got hooked on the middle or near by. It’s stupid to leave, not “lazy”.
    • Killer hooks someone one a large map, only gens left are on the opposite side of the map and there’s no hope to stop the gens progress in time, so to apply pressure, they proxy camp in order to try and intercept.

Even if the killer wants to tunnel, what’s the problem? Isn’t the “fun part” of the game in the chase like so many people claim? Why is it wrong for killers to be lazy, as you accuse them of being, but it’s acceptable for survivors to whine about being chased and expect to be allowed to reset themselves? Why shouldn’t we expect survivors to have to put some effort in getting away to a safe location using teamwork and then heal?

Most of your reasons don't apply to the content being discussed here though.

If the killer is far enough away to check gens and comes back to the unhook the 10 seconds should have expired.

The comment was about 4 survivors being up not end game, not gens popping, it was about a body block on an unhook and someone saying they were tunneled. So the 3 gen doesn't apply, or the death hook.

Which, if there is back to back hooks of the same person that is just a lazy killer. 4 people on the board and you can't find anyone else to hunt?

  • They don't even need add-ons to stack condem, just spam teleport and eventually you'll have mutliple people in trouble.

  • All the killer mains were on here right after Made For This was released and called it OP. Same group on here defending this perk.

Both need a rework. Made For This needs it's endurance effect removed and this perk needs a CD that is longer like 60 to 90 seconds.

in the proposed situation, the killer most often hasnt found anybody else. Whats the killer meant to do, just ignore the fact that theres 2 survivors grouped up relatively closeby one of which injured and hooked at least once, meanwhile they have no clue where the other two are? While that may not be the exact situation you are describing as you dont get into details, that is a common situation. the killer doesnt have any obligation to allow their pressure to get cleared. The survivor made the right play, but the killer shouldnt be expected to ignore them in such a situation.

The other two survivors in that situation will be near one of those giant red things highlighted on the killer's screen.

And again, there is so many information perks, it is not difficult to find survivors anymore unless you are being lazy.

It's just the new norm. Tunnel someone out at 4 or 5 gens to make the match easier. It's not against the rules but it is certainly scummy.

  • As long as the re-work doesn't take away the jumpscare Myers build. Still the most fun I have in this game, stalk through walls, wait, wait, wait... strike.

you do realize since hook grabs are removed there are survivors purposely unhooking directly Infront of the killer? you still expect the killer to "get away from the hook?"

And if those people are complaining about tunneling, then the hell with them. But I'd be willing to bet that the complaint is coming from a situation that is far more common. Killer hooks and "walks away" but doesn't go away. Survivor comes to unhook and killer runs back over as they see the approaching survivor. Then they are there as the unhook happens leading to the protection hit being burned.

Then the killer says "Well why did you unhook in front of me?"

Meanwhile, the survivor wasn't in front of the killer, but the killer ran back over to create the situation. Thus trying to claim not camping and not tunneling while knowing full well this is what they are doing.

I get hanging around near the hook when you have 2 survivors left and one is on hook. Where else is that last survivor going to be? But most of the complaints I've seen in matches have been killers at 4 or 5 gens, lingering near a hook and just being lazy. There is so many information perks avaialabe to encourage killers to move yet a high amount still just race back to that unhook sound looking for an easy hit.

I stand by my statement that they should remove the sound notification of an unhook.

  • The question I would ask is this, why are you hanging around a hooked survivor during the unhook process that gives them the reason or chance to use it as a body block?

If they are complaining about tunneling, that would make me believe all 4 people were alive. It's highly unlikely that all 3 unhooked people were at the hooked survivor together.

Don't be around hooks, then there is no reason for them to bodyblock and there is less (I'll never say none cause...community) reason to complain.

I think it'd be interesting to see how things would change if the devs removed the unhooking notification.

  • WoO is more useful out of chase than in chase to me when playing solo. As others have said, it shows what resources are being burned but it is also a helpful tool for tracking the killer. You see the chase icon in the HUD and can see a pallet drop giving you an idea where the killer is on the map. That's extremely useful when you aren't with friends who you know won't drop the killer on you as you work a gen.

Cant the Survivor just run Distortion and counter an entire Aura Reading loadout the Killer is using?

The entire point that "this one perk countered my entire build" is pointless when perks like that exist for both sides, it is just how things are, and it has been that way for a really long time.

Distortion has limits though. Only has 3 charges and to recharge it you have to hang out in the terror radius. So if you are in a chase, that's great to recharge it but when doing gens or other objectives you can burn through 3 charges quickly.

you mean just remove endurance? lol how would mft work if it CAUSES you to be exhausted? its designed as a static perk and currently doesnt work if exhausted. the only way i can see the perk working as another exhaustion perk is if they made it give a set amount of seconds of 3% haste in exchange for exhaustion.

And a set amount really doesn't work either as part of the time after you activate the perk you will already be running with increased haste from taking a hit from the killer.

It just needs to be set up where it can't stack with Hope and as others have said, remove the endurance.

The problem is that if you dont know how to prevent it you will be stuck with it. And its not that its that obvious what triggers it.

True, might be worth bringing it up so people who haven't encountered it know what not to do.

  • If this new exploit is the one I've seen on-line it is super easy for the killers to avoid triggering. It's not a situation where you can do it on your own.

  • If I remember correctly, you can just turn the chat function off.

  • Wow, childish name calling. Good for you.

So, fun fact. If you took the time to actually read you'd see that I used the exploit one time in a custom game with 4 friends to see how it worked and how to beat it, force people out of the locker, etc. But hey, you just jump to conclusions like a baddie.

Secondly, I've been gaming a long time. Was a part of vanilla WoW. There exploits in that game like nothing else. No one cried about banning a bunch of people because of any exploit and yes, you could literally take the game hostage if you knew what you were doing. Lock down an entire quest hub for an entire server. No one cried "ban them!!!" Nope, we all watched the chaos and were like what is happening and found other things to do while the devs fixed it.

People were paying a subscription to that game, and couldn't do things because of exploits yet the community was less sad and crying than this entire community that bought a game and never had to pay for anything again if they didn't want to.

  • Vauts broken, Alien broken neither a priority.

    Flashlight glitch and insta killswitch.

How about killswitch Xeno as well as a sign of caring about survivor mains as well?

These kind of actions are helping to add to the killer vs survivor mentality in the community. And yes, I understand that a couple people running with flashlights could create a terrible situation for killers but unless it was 4 people working together, there was still people to hunt while one person just wasted their own time in a locker. Would be better if they kill switched lockers but doing that would have hurt killers since a majority now run Pefect Weapon.

Also, my main killer to play is Dredge, so yeah killswitching lockers would have made him useless but I still think it was the better choice. Survivors have no shot to safe a teammate from being hooked now (Don't say flashbang as you are saying to waste a perk slot versus carrying an item)

    Who is saying it's fine?

The flashlight bug was being massively exploited causing many games to be held hostage by the exploiters. Thus the killswitch. If the blast mine bug is also a huge problem, it'll get killswitched too.

    @Emoba said:

The Wiretap/Blast Mine bug is apparently fine though.

This bug is more random chance and not something you can actually do by design. I'm sure they will get to fixing it at some point, but there isn't a certain situation where you can make this happen. It just happens once in a great while by chance.

  • Funny thing is, the only exploit I've been guilty of was the invisible blast mine as I mentioned. And it was by accident. Not even sure how I triggered it. Went to equip the mine and was then out of my body moving around.

So, yeah I guess I did abuse that for a match since I couldn't get back into my body but was able to unhook.

The flashlight thing, was done with 4 other friends in a custom match to see if it actually happened. Pretty sure my friend who was in the voice call wasn't going to report any of us for seeing if it was real.

The thing about this exploit is, you can only phase in and out of the lockers that you do the correct sequence in front of them. Not like you do it once and go in and out of every locker. Yes, it certainly is game breaking to end a chase like this (hence why I've never used it in a live match) but again this isn't a cheat that is using outside source code to change the game. This is a weird glitch that turns one or two lockers into a safety. If someone wants to hide in a locker all match, kill the rest of the team and let the end game collapse get the last one. It's annoying, and I get that but still not something I'd go a banning spree over especially without the devs issuing a "do this and you'll get a ban warning."

Do you have any idea how dumb that is? Do you actually think that the majority of Devs and Publishers come to the consensus that using severe exploits is a bannable offense despite a potential revenue loss from some customers as some sort of joke?

If ever game, banned every person that used an exploit they discovered there would be a lot less people playing games.

It happens in every single game. It isn't going to cost the Devs of DBD any revenue as you aren't paying for a battle pass and I'm pretty sure no one is going to just stop playing the game over any bug that pops up.

Do you think every killer that gets a window hit right now because fast vaults are bugged should be banned for using an exploit? Same exact thing. It's an exploit due to an issue on the Devs side.

  • I don't think they can or should ban people for something that is a break on the devs side. It isn't like they've done something to their game client to get an advantage.

It's like the Blast Mine bug where you go out of body sometimes. Invisible and able to unhook and open gates. I didn't plan for it to happen but it was funny as hell.

  • To me it is only tunneling in a negative way if you are going after the same person over and over again and avoiding other chases to get that person down. Since tunneling usually goes hand in hand with camping or it's creepy uncle proximity camping, when you run back to the hook and chase the survivor that was unhooked versus the one who got them, yeah... that's tunneling.

  • @Nazzzak said:

This topic has come up before, and I always assumed it didn't but apparently data mining confirms it does (someone informed me once). I've actually said that I think a good way to disincentivize slugging is to make bleed outs not count as kills/count towards MMR. Won't stop it obviously, but people might be less inclined to not care about people spending the game just laying on the floor if there was a disadvantage to them as well.

It is entirely possible that at one point, MMR was impacted by bleedouts. @Raccoon and others have said it did and all my evidence is from recent events. The most notable being that the Devs did comment in a thread that you could no longer get an adept or get credit for a 4k challenge with a bleedout. It doesn't count towards that, which would stand to reason that if it doesn't give credit for acheivements, that the change would have an impact on MMR results as well. Also, the video evidence is from streamers using cheats, so who knows if they are actually seeing the real MMR.

In the end though, the real thing is this is a game. Not a competition with a cash prize. There is 5 people playing each match, and for one person to feel that they just have to get a 4k to have fun and that they can't possibly risk a hatch escape so they'll leave someone to do nothing for four minutes. That to me is pretty toxic and honestly not great for the community nor is it a good sign for the player themself. It was said on her multiple times, if you can only have fun if you win, that's a bad mental health issue. I get it, there is achievements and cosmetics but you can accomplish all of that without sleezy moves. Hell, the summer BBQ event said get a 4k with the clown for his one outfit. Took two tries, no slugging, no camping, no tunneling. Maybe I got lucky, but I've seen plenty of people complete achievements without a slug, a tunnel or a camp. So in the end, there is no need for it.

  • I'm seeing them more and more and I think part of it has to do with people on Twitch and YouTube using these cheats openly. There is several people using cheats that go ahead and provide a link to the access the cheats. It ranges from auto-complete gens or auto down and hook survivors to more subtle things like press a button and increase your speed. I even saw one video where at the start the player opened a menu and increased their base speed, making them able to be constantly faster than a killer. Not sure why the devs haven't shut these exploits down, but as they are getting more and more views each day that increases the odds of people using them, more the subtle ones than the flying around the map ones.

Why are people that datamine the game stating the exact opposite?

    No clue.

But again, there is actual confirmation from the devs and players that you get no progress on achievements or pips when you bleed someone out. It doesn't benefit the killer, just is a trashy move to hold people hostage for four minutes. And while four minutes doesn't sound like a long time, when it happens 3 or 4 matches in a row it becomes a quarter of an hour that you spend just laying there waiting for the timer to run out..

I've watched a video on Youtube from a person I suspected (and others on this forum suspected) of cheating. And they were, and they openly admitted it and laughed about it. Part of the cheat shows the invisible MMR, and it did not change after 4 bleedouts.
