This works when Survivors have no idea of what they're doing. I've had 2 Onryo's back to back yesterday.. in fact it was the same player with that Condemned playstyle and I never had more than 3 stacks. Managed my tapes, gens and saves as well.
While others were almost, if not fully condemned. Survivors are just bad against her. If you have 4 good Survivors, Onryo is cooked, no matter the Playstyle/Perks/Add-ons/Maps you bring.
The biggest tip for Sadako is that the full original movie is free on Youtube.
-
Artist:
Stop using the shotgun strat to hit survivors that are swarmed. You can use a crow for someone else to slow the game down instead and still hit them. The reduced cooldown also makes it better to check for survivors waiting for a save or forcing Thrilling Tremors by hitting survivors quickly before picking up.
Shotgunning is good on maps with poor LOS but it can develop into a bad habit.
-
As someone who treats salt and -reps as medals already, im in. Give me your badges.
-
Use quick and quiet and jump into a locker after dropping it, sure you might get found but remember its just a few seconds of enough confusion to complete the challenge.
-
I think its because many people here literally just post between matches during the loading every time they lose, leading them to think about the posts they will make instead of their own mistakes and improving, a loop designed for themselves so they don't have to admit to skill issues.
People who do that really should consider leaving so they can start getting themselves together before the inevitable ban which often will lead to an better outcome and better self, and im not even ironic about it. Its the cost sunk fallacy. Think about this:
Asmongold got banned and finally cleaned like 15% of his house.
I got fired after telling the CEO of the company i worked for that he is about to get thrown out of the 4th story window, and i ended up with a much better job and pay somewhere else.

German people would be still known for their humor.
-
Sadako is on a long cooldown on the start of the match, survivors can easily find a gen and its TV to retrieve the tapes at the start.
IDK why so many refuse to use the counterplay then complain. Just take the tapes, no more condemned from teleporting and she now has to walk which is a massive time sink if you are spread out.
Her entire playstyle currently revolves around punishing people who suck at macroplay because her chase power is bugged for like 10 months now with no fix in sight.
-
Does anyone notice that the people who are threatening to leave are always the ones least likely to do it? Its like Twitter all over again when Elon bought it, many people cried about it but you barely see anyone who threatened to leave actually leave.
I mean people who just leave arent around anymore, only those demanding everything should be catered to them because they got hooked on digital fentanyl.

How? You won't have aura reading IRL.
But you don't have aura-blocking IRL, unless of course you use my sponsor NORDVP…
-
Of course its not good, it relies to much on survivor builds and requires tunneling to get value out of. It doesn't need to be good or even fun, just good enough for a clickbait video.
Content creators jump on anything that you can make a clickbait title out of faster than an Influencer on unattended minors these days.

I usually play the game in total silence with a very good headset accurate enough to let me hear a survivor breathing.
But today I was only doing the rift for the event so I wasn't playing seriously. I was on Discord speaking with friends while playing as killer. After all, getting only five pallets or a few hooks is easier than winning a game.
For my last few matches of the night, I took Huntress just to aimlessly throw a few hatchets. I didn't even plan to get the golden medals for the rift. The discussion was still going on and I had muted the game. The map was RPD.
On Discord I was explaining some technical issue and how I solved it and wasn't paying attention to the game at all.
After a couple of minutes (maybe a bit more) I landed back on Earth and I realized I had already killed two survivors with 3 gens left.
I have no idea how I did it.
Later in the chat one survivor commented on my good mind games and looping.
Mind? My mind wasn't there at all.
The only thing that I can imagine is that maybe my subconscious mind was playing for me while I was otherwise occupied.
Has it ever happened to you?
Overthinking can cause reaction times to slow down and Analysis paralysis, its definitely more common in other games and i experience it too sometimes, especially when time is limited, its called Kotov syndrome, its something you can exploit.
For example its a very common strategy in R6 Siege to try to run down the timer of the round using operators like Smoke, Goyo etc. and its often done against teams that take their time to set themselves up or try to bait out the defenders, leading them to do something stupid out of the sheer pressure you build by mostly just waiting for the clock to run down.
When i play For Honor when im trying to hard to read an opponent, i overthink the options the enemy have and my reactions to it, leading me to die pretty quickly sometimes. Sometimes i just take a deep breath, a big shot of gin, calm down, play more with instinct and kick my opponents ass as quickly as i died last round.
When i play Warhammer 40k i sometimes stop thinking, do something that might even be stupid at first glance for a round and then work with it next round, it works wonders sometimes.
-
Its more builds than perks, but one loadout i used and won often with is Undying + Haunted grounds, its more of a prank than a good build.
Hex: Wretched Fate, Gift of Pain, Hex: Undying and Hex: Haunted Grounds or Pentimento.
Find the Obsession, hook them so they get that stacking massive repair penalty from Wretched Fate + Gift of Pain.
Pentimento allows you to stack the penalty even further, Haunted Grounds + Undying but you gotta hope they aren't smart or patient enough because of Wretched Fates aura.
-
Pinhead mains when they see Knight mains deal with a mere 17 bugs:
Fun aside, BHVR is really bad at bugfixing, remember when adding one survivor, Lara Croft, somehow broke the entire game, then launched a hotfix that broke even more?
-
Doctor has so much potential for fun stuff as buffs, such as moving illusions, illusionary pallets basekit, random skill checks that literally do nothing when you arent even doing an action etc.
-
I dont think thats a good idea.
For Survivors, that would basicly remove sabotage and flash saves.
For Killers, that would reduce the options for strategically placing survivors, such as a dead zone with no gens so you can harass someone of generators while forcing someone else to take a long walk.
It would reduce the skill ceiling for both sides.

Reading this thread has been bewildering. Watching people form coherent sentences and have an actual human discussion on a DbD board is giving me whiplash compared to the constant coping, screaming and complaining from the insane individuals on DbD twitter. My brain can't comprehend it, this is a DbD fan, but he's talking like an actual human and making sense?
Off Topic boards on many communities are the most enjoyable because that is where the people who come to do more than just complain and leave in between matches hang out.
-
Its kinda overrated, 18m is quite the distance for most M1 Killers to catch up to, and we see the scratchmarks and blood pools of the guy we just chased a few seconds ago anyway. Its a nice perk but also not that great especially compared perks that help you actually finding survivors to chase in the first place.
Despite this it will get nerfed along with Genetic Limits because its OP on Nurse.
-
Thats because statistical analysis companies and their consequences have been a disaster for the human race.
Most businesses, including hollywood and the gaming industry, there is a push to try to understand human beings using numbers, and when something works once, it must do so again right? If that failed, well its not because we try to quantify things with numbers that cannot be quantified, its just somewhere a number is wrong, thats the real problem right?
One of the funniest examples is Walmart in Germany, it failed because of the culture they brought from the US that just isn't compatible with ours. People just didn't wanna go their because of their greeters and smiles, its something that puts us off like you wouldn't believe. Not smiling might make an american think they are not appreciated or something like that, but a german?
It straight up triggers our fight or flight response, the smiles they are forced to give causes a german woman to switch the side of the street and pick up the pace, man will to stare at you trying to figure out if you going to jump on them with a knife the second the back is turned. Walmart was the uncanny valley here.
Yet everything was blamed, few things were tried but always at the wrong place, they saw what works in their biggest markets and hey, numbers on spreadsheet say this, it can't possibly be wrong! It must have been the laws that prevents predatory pricing! Or those workers unions (especially those evil communists at ver.di!), thats to blame for the lack of customers right? It couldn't have been us not understanding those germans (WHAT ARE GERMANS EVEN, I LOOKED AT SPREADSHEET, NUMBER DID NOT QUANTIFY GERMAN) and creeping them at every turn.
-
Jokes aside, why do so many say Predator is OP but when questioned just tiny bit it always comes back to Nurse?
Like, everything is OP on her, she is ignoring 50% of the game, if the only argument that something is OP is that its too good on Nurse its prove that its balanced.

Wait, doesn't pain res remove 20% of the total progress? I think you are talking about Pop Goes The Weasel where the time taken away is dependant on the gen's current progression.
Oh, my bad, still PR can be wasted on low gens, not activate because of bad RNG etc. I think at max you get like 12 seconds more compared to No Way Out which really isn't worth the headaches you save.

I think the problem isn't who got the changes, it is what those changes are.
It is good that they made some adjustments from the PTB, but severely nerfing a character and then waiting a long time to fix them isn't a good solution. Freddy's reworked power was unhealthy for the game, we all know that, but the situation should have been solved right then and there in 2019. Not nerf him in 2021 and then wait until 2025 for a proper rework.
SM players are lucky they'll only have to wait one year, at least. But, as @supersonic853 said, this reinforces a precedent that we should move away from.
Couldn't have phrased it better, i hate explaining to the people to think further than "Me no like [INSERT CHARACTER], me like nerfs, me no like buffs, me not want balance", she shouldn't get Freddied and Freddy should not have gotten Freddied, because Freddy was the bad precedent, it should not be reinforced.

skull merchant is going keep disconnects. lots of disconnects because they revert her nerfs. survivor will still struggle to play against her → teammate will d/c → reddit ama will ask, is there anything you can to fix disconnects?". So the circle goes around.
So im suggesting something new.

@ObsidianButterfly said:
No.
Giving Merchant an objectively worse version of Singularity's power not only is insulting to Singularity and its players, but would be just plain lazy on the devs part.
Only in reality we already have Killers that are downgrades from another (Bubba and Myers) and no one cares, no one feels insulted. Its a them problem anyway, lets just not try to test something new because some people who weren't asked don't feel insulted over an insult that doesn't exist.

She gets haste only if survivor gets detected 5 seconds after deploying or rotating drone, no?
Should have clarified i was refering to lasertagging.
-
As far as i know its a complete rework, it doesn't show the aura to the Killer.
The perks only use is for Jonah mains to do this (and i love it):
-
Well the most used Killer perk is apparently Pain Resonance and i find it incredibly overrated.
Pain Resonance removes 17,8 charges, or roughtly 18 seconds for each survivors hooked when a generator is at exactly 99%, which isn't going to happen a lot of the time, not to mention it being wasted by blowing up gens that are below 50%.
No Way Out gives 60 seconds, while technically a bit less than Pain Resonance max time saved on paper keep in mind that its 60 seconds no matter what, it can't be wasted like PR and you dont have to bother with the RNG of Scourge Hooks. I stick with No Way Out
-
The big problem is that SM now gets haste from dropping drones too, which encourages the playstyle of just dropping them mindlessly on loops to get the haste.
-
Well looks like we got what we asked for, good change.
-
@GeneralSkien said:
it no longer scans by fast vaults, does this mean a survivor can dodge a beam by vaulting? If so I don’t think it’s as bad of a change as people are thinking, if you position a from correctly you have a remote control that forces a fast vault. I just wanna clarify if I got it right
Yes but the SM can also counter it by rotating it back, meaning if you try to fast vault again you might even vault back into her. Its some nice back and forth in theory.
We will have to wait and see, but my guess its once of those counterplays that will never get utilised and people forget.
-
The big problem is that now Killers are forced to basicly stick together and that will cause a lot of crying on this forum and the subreddit about survivors going down instantly, it happened before and it will get worse this time.
-
Knight can now switch guards quicker, his guards have less duration but he they have seperate cooldowns, meaning you need to switch guards more often.
Basicly, you can now despawn the previous guard by summoning new one and they have different cooldowns, hitting them with the basic attack reduces it to just 10 seconds.
There is a whole lot more to it but i think reading it then playing will help you understand.
-
Sadly she is 100% going to win.
That wouldn't even be that much of a problem if they would slow down and give more skins to less popular character for a while to break the infamous cycle.
My main wasnt nominated, so i selected Corpse Sheet Dredge as its my closest, picked Unknown cause that one is really great even though i rarely play him.
For the rest i picked Gabriel, Elodie, Adam Francis and the Hag to give some of the more neglected ones a chance.

I remember watching a video I don't remember I think it was like playing as every killer stereotype and Spirit was basically have volume at full blast. Even without headphones just hearing a survivor going down was enough for me to turn my volume down a lot. So I sitting thinking "there's no way players will destory their eardrums just to play one killer right?"
Two things to consider is that the TR and music can mask a lot of the sounds from a survivor perspective, for many practiced Killers these sounds are a whole lot more noticeable.
Second is that contrary to what many believe, you can increase your sensitivity for certain stimuly and decrease it to others, just as much as reaction time, there is a misconception that its entirely linked to genetics as if its a set number that cant be changed which isnt true, practice makes perfect. People who play Killer, more specifically Spirit or Dracula will often have enough practice to pick up these sounds and react accordingly.
I can advise you playing Spirit or Dracula (use bat form often) for yourself and you will get it after a while.

Lets take into account we have perks that exist for no reason other than to slug (knockout - which works more than once) and perks to counter it (unbreakable - which works once or soul guard which is situational) and we have killers that sheerly exist to slug (twins) so while the data may show 1/4 of every survivor in every game is slugged at least 35 seconds which they feel is "not a lot," if I am getting bled out in 1/4 of my games, I am not having fun. And if 4 killers running knockout and slugging till everyone bleeds out in 5 hours is "not a lot" then the devs need to play survivor in pubs more often.
Just because you are slugged for 35+ seconds doesn't mean you bleed out by a long shot, ######### happens and adds up quickly, Killer powers are one of many reasons that could lead to some slugging
Also Knockout is and never was even remotely close to the top 10 for as long as i can remember, its pickrate is actually less than 1%.
If we assume that the the average DBD match is 15 minutes on average seeing 4 Killers using knockout in 5 hours would bring the perk in 2nd place beating Pop goes the Weasel by a signifact margin, so what you say is either a complete lie or delusional.

Don't forget how common it is to get a down next to a pallet or a gen. Cleaning up after the down already adds a few seconds onto that 15s timer.
Setting traps.
Reloading as Huntress/Deathslinger/Trickster
Placing an almost ready hallucinations.
Destroying a nearby zombie for Nemesis mutation.
Disrupting a lament configuration solve.
Destroying nearby turrets as Alien.
Shooting off a bird to check or force survivors off for Thrilling Tremors.
I'm pretty sure i missed quite a few only Killer specific interactions that could lead to some of the 15% and 35+%. I dont think slugging is nearly that bad as people claim it is, sure i have been bleed out and would like to see a solution but its not as common or pressing issue many pretend it is.
-
@Halloulle said:
Averages are a funny thing. Though, even with how averages work "only" 43% longer than 15 seconds… is still quite a lot but could be justified by killers being paranoid and checking the area every single time before they pick. — but almost a quarter being slugged for 35+ seconds? That actually is a lot. It still is almost one person every match that is left there for a way prolonged time.
35 seconds combined THROUGHOUT an entire match, its really not that much, it could less than 20 seconds per down of checking/doing other important things.
-
Either you are selling bullshit desperatly trying to save distortion cause among the most 10 most used perks only about 3 are aura based (see here and here) and what you claim is statistically VERY unlikely or you are genuinely lucky with your lobbies, no irony here.
I would EASILY trade killers dragging the game with 3-4 gen regression/blocking perks for full aura Killers every single time, especially because they tend to be aggressive and less boring.
-
I guess it could be combination of selection bias and people complaining about slugging in situations where its justified, i went to twitch for the first time in like 4 years to watch DBD, and among the 5 streamers 3 started crying the second the Killer did not pick them up to do stuff like check for flashlights or kicking gens and keep in mind that was like 10 seconds each.
Save to say im not gonna watch DBD twitch for like another 4 years after that too, man the community is more prone to whine for minor inconveniences than i thought.

what seems simple on paper might be complicated in back-code. in regular games, the killer cannot pick two mori offerings but when you put 1 offering base-kit, you likely have to code and account for 2 offering being played. my impression is that they took lazy route.
my impression coding wise would be that you need to take rancor's coding from the perk, remove tracking and the exposed in end game and modify to only work when 1 survivor is alive. it would be like 5th hidden perk called modifier rancor or whatever in the code.
Not sure about that, they have a history of retired and reworked offerings, so in my mind that should be easier, but then again im not a Dev.

Survivors are not compensated when they are nerfed. Self Care, Decisive Strike, Dead Hard, Circle of Healing were all nerfed into uselessness in most cases. No compensation to survivors that likes to use them.
I think killers are not used to being on the other end.
2 of the perks you listed are among the top 10 most used perks in the game and self-care is still pretty much meta in asia. Circle of Healing also is far from useless, not necessarily great but far from bottom tier.

They aren't refunding a character that has been out for a year and a half. That's a playtime that far exceeds a lot of video games.
A total killswitch is also not going to happen. Some people will still play her and that means BHVR can continue to gather data on her games for the rework.
Yeah but the community made it impossible to play her for longer than not, also unlike everyone else she got reworked with the expressed intent by BHVR to make her bad till the rework, rather than being bad unintentionally. And by extension of being bad and likely getting a complete overhaul the data they gather will be by all means worthless, what are they gonna measure, what will be the results? That a killer designed to be intentionally bad will be bad until the data is irrelevant? Yeah i can tell you right now you don't need data for it.

It's really not that simple. In order to remove her from the game with no timeline to her return, multiple other things would have to happen:
- Tools of Torment would need to be removed as DLC due to false advertising risks (she's front and center on the material).
- Renato and Thalita (along with their perks) would either need to be made free for everyone or also be removed. And most likely they would be removed and returned later along with Merchant and the Tools DLC (because business reasons).
So you aren't just refunding Merchant, they would need to refund the survivors as well. I wasn't around when the Stranger Things content was removed, but I imagine it would be something similar to that.
No, just reduce the price of the DLC and change the steam page for it lol, the survivors aren't gonna be removed.

Honestly, I used to be against that idea but I rather have that then have her being the games first f-tier killer for what mostly likely be 2 years. Just refund everyone who owns her and her skins and remove her from the game till her rework is finished.
I hate that i agree with this. Just give everyone all who own her a full refund in the meantime and deactivate her if we give her a complete overhaul like Revenant got in Apex, especially considering it will probably take years.
Don't believe BHVR when they say 2025, i consider them unreliable and dishonest and i need to only point towards Freddy, Trickster and Twins to prove it.

if i want bloodpoint, i'll use bloodpoint pudding or streamer. when i am using mori, i just want ignore the second stage decisive strike. I did not hear any survivor complain that mori offering is overpowered and needs nerf's. leave it to dev to nerf that. killer request base-kit mori was because of end game hooks breaking and survivor crawling in the corner. they already fixed that by making hook respawn so this mori change is super late in my opinion.
I mean, cypress basekit would make some sense, if you are the last one alive and caught, you cant really be saved anyway, especially now with the respawning hooks, and moris are WAY faster than going through the picking up, carrying to a hook and watching the sacrifice animation, so i personally would even prefer it as a survivor.
Its also by far the easiest solution to the finisher mori system, no need to rework really anything, just deactivate on add-on and thats it.

I do believe the community managers not necessarily being at fault provided its not their job to check on all employees and collect information. BHVR in my view really needs to sort this out internally, the problem can be traced likely back to one of two things:
A: The Devs are so unorganized they miss to tell the community managers very important information that they need to include in the messages to the community.
B: Some part of BHVR doesn't tell it to the community managers either in a misguided attempt to protect them from backlash, or not willing to tell the community managers that they have to include information some people might not like, repeatedly causing problems along the way.
Both would be ground enough for very serious repurcussions and sanctions in most places i worked for, its the type of thing you often only can pull once before being sanctioned.
Now i don't speak for Canadians, and they are might have a different view of things, but i'm from a culture where indirect speech and left out information can quickly be interpreted as respectless, spineless and insulting especially in work environments it can quickly get you in trouble, they might have a different philosophy however that should not come at the expense of the community.
