Not like this game is meant to be taken seriously anywhere. Soon you will have Nauthty Bear moriing Nicolas Cage on RPD next to Princess Heart Cheryl, Dwelf and Mikaela Reid. Goofiness has made this game greater.
You know what, you got me there. I can't argue.

Welcome MistyShadowWolf!
I actually started with Nea way back when I started in 2016, and is not a bad starting Survivor at all! I wasn't planning on it, iirc I was looking at Claudette for my starting Survivor, but the Entity was constantly giving be Nea-based Rituals (aka Daily Challenges found under the Candle icon, or pop up when you enter the main menu), so I took it as an in-game sign Nea was chosen for me lol Urban Evasion especially can help you get used to hiding in close proximity to a Killer.
I personally have a few that I hope help you (and others) new to the game ❤️
- As Survivor, learn to rotate your camera around! There are some videos and tutorials on places like Youtube and Steam that can help you learn this far better than I could explain, but this will keep you alert to your surroundings, including where the Killer is in chase (when I started and didn't know how to rotate my camera well, if a Killer backtracked in an area I had no line of sight, I would run into them without fail 😅
- Windows of Opportunity (one of Kate Denson's perks) can be very useful if you are struggling with vaults/pallets while in chase.
- While you primarily mention Survivor, don't be afraid to give Killer a try! You can play against bots in custom matches if you don't feel comfortable going into a public match yet, but it allows you to get a perspective on Survivor you wouldn't have otherwise (and vice versa, playing Survivor can give a helpful perspective to playing Killer next time you do so)!
- Never never never ever never (ever) be afraid to have a bad game... or two... or day of them, especially when you are new <3 no matter which side you play, its to have a match you died quickly, or caught no Survivors, etc. And odds are, you'll take away helpful information for your next matches.
- Try things out! - even if a perk, item, or add-on doesn't catch your eye initially, try a match or two with it; you might be surprised!
- If you are having skillcheck trouble, there are guides and things for them as well, same as with learning camera rotation.
- Don't be afraid to run when the Killer is not nearby; something I was very bad about in 2016 and I'm sure my teammates then were not thrilled with me at the time lol
And I wouldn't be doing my job as Moderator if I didn't post a list of the in-game rules and reporting process: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/kb/articles/139-game-rules
But one tip is the most important: Have fun!
Man, we really have some S-tier mods around here... <3
-
This has been perhaps the biggest issue in the game since day one. There is no incentive to play nice for either side.
That said, a cycle forms when people use very strong/"meta" perks and items and things:
1.) Killer A plays a meme build against 4 survivors running 4 meta perks and strong items. Killer A gets destroyed and t-bagged at the exit gates.
2.) Killer A loads into another match, this time using the dirtiest build you've seen in your entire life, and destroys a team of 4 solo q survivors trying to item hunt and complete their archives.
3.) The 4 solo players who were destroyed load into their new match, each of them now using purple flashlights or toolboxes and running the strongest perks. They match against Killer B, who is using a backpack build, and complete all 5 gens before a single hook is earned.
4.) Killer B loads into their next match using the dirtiest build you've ever seen.... etc.
Obviously there is plenty of hyperbole in what I've just wrote out, but the general point remains: Why would anyone play chill when their opposition dictates to such a high degree how much fun they can have, especially if they also use the strongest resources in the game?

@Gandor said:
That is by design. Killers should also be able to hook survivors
Yes, but I will say, the collisions for body-blocking are kind of funky. I've put in at least two separate bug reports now that you can be standing directly in front of a hook to block (MoM stacks, baby!) and the killer can literally just go through you. I've had it happen to me as survivor and done it as killer.
-
@Felgoose said:
^This
Also, survivors should have a button that let's them just open the exit gates and win if they're not really feeling like they're being treated fairly by the killer.
Yeah, that second part wouldn't be abusable... KEK.
-
Some players live and die (metaphorically speaking) by shack pallet.
I once played a solo game against a Billy and dropped shack at 5 gens to save one of my teammates from being hooked basically right away. We played well and got 4 man out, and I thought that was it. [Edit for clarity: I pallet-saved him.]
Then, the person I saved with shack pallet started complaining that I "wasted" it so early... when I not only saved from being hooked but we then went on to escape the match.
Long and short of it is, most people have no idea what they're talking about and every opinion should be taken with a grain of salt.

i know you might think i am crazy but they might have just made trapper into A-tier killer. Otz will very happy. I hope they do not weaken trapper add-on's. lots of people think he is not very good.
No, they didn't.
-
I'm of the opinion that keeping his traps on the ground is fine... so long as they make them spawn in the middle. There is no reason that I should spawn in on Autohaven and have to walk to a McMillan map just to gain control of my power.

@Aven_Fallen said:
You will not really encounter "Bully-SWFs". Nowadays everything is classified as "bullying", even playing the game normally. And people who claim to go against those "Bully-SWFs" on a constant basis are really exaggerating.
You will be fine as Killer. But not every lost game was against a "Bully-SWF".
Agreed. I've faced my fair share of "bully groups" and while those games do suck, I feel like I get one (maybe two) per multiple-hour session. They're still out there, but generally you're going to face all solo or two solos and a duo.

@mizark3 said:
I think this is if you do the lob arc and swap while the bottle is still mid-air. This has been an issue since the Xeno patch or the patch before it.
It happens sometimes randomly, regardless of if you switch bottles or not. I don't know why it hasn't been fixed (or even addressed verbally) yet. Either they don't care or they've somehow missed a bug for months on end.
-
So... what happens when a very good Nurse player decides to run Devour and has 3 stacks before the Hex is even revealed?
I understand she can't used exposed perks with blinks anymore, but my point stands. Two more hooks and she'll be able to mori people at 5 gens. Would be very boring for both sides imo.
-
If you did you'd become an Oni god. Practice makes perfect.
-
Mad Grit is basically a meme perk, dude. The only time (slight exaggeration, I know) Mad Grit is worth running is if you have an entire backpack build around it with StBfL, Agi and Iron Grasp.
Why do you want to kill one of the few goofy, off-meta builds that sees the light of the day from time to time?
-
I know the build I'll mention is not fun for survivors, but if somebody wanted to play impossible skillchecks Doc on The Game then every survivor would have map-wide endurance. It would essentially be a free dead hard just because of the map.
Certain situations like this is why it wouldn't work. Also, how would this work against Dark Devotion?
-
I'm such a fiend for Dominos pan pizza. I know it's not very good on the "pizza tier list" (lol) but man... something about all that cheese 🤤

Same as nobody should be forced to play midwitch, saloon, wrecker's yard, azarov's, rancid and a lot other maps that favor killers
I agree that Midwich is an equally problematic map. It reminds me very much of the original iteration of The Game with how confusing it is to navigate — sometimes you can spawn in and not even know if you're top or bottom floor.
The rest? Nah. Saloon is very easy to run if you know how, and the Autohaven maps have a nice spread of pallets throughout the middle with chainable tiles. It's not nearly as bad as some of the Macmillan maps (Suffo Pit, in particular) but it's not too bad against most killers.

@Coffeecrashing said:
WHY IS IT STILL RED??????? Purposely making a map the same color as scratchmarks, pools of blood, and default auras, is such a miserable experience.
I don't understand why scratches and auras aren't white. It would make everything easier... except Ormond, I guess.

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/391626/please-let-killers-ban-maps
Imo, a system that prevents killers from being RNGd to maps that directly conflict with their powers should be implemented.
For example, ghostface and myers shouldn't be sent to ormond / borgo because the maps are very open and there's no stealth.
110% speed killers like trick,huntress, slinger etc. Shouldn't be sent to maps like red forest or any other overly large maps.
Or singularly getting sent to extremely indoorsy maps like RPD and lerys that turn him to an M1.
Of course offerings could still work as normal , but the goal would be to reduce the auto-loss via RNG that some killers are forced into via map.
(As a sidenote, screw badham and all its 5 itterations that feel horrible to play as a whole.)
Nobody should have to play on Borgo or Red Forest, regardless of their power lmao. Those two and Garden are still ridiculously unbalanced.

Agreed some of the add ons are just so busted and all the Insta down add ons are completely broken!
Agree about exposed add-ons, and that's coming from a killer main. It's boring to play, incredibly unfun to face, and promotes unhealthy learning for new players too imo.

@DaddyMyers_Mori said:
Ghostface would love this change...
Myers and Pig too, even if to a lesser degree.
-
Good idea, but the amount of resources that would need to go into making 33 different tutorials isn't worth the ultimate payoff.
And that's only counting killers who are in the game right now, not those that will be introduced.
-
I think a lot of people are forgetting that TCM is significantly limited in terms of what content they can introduce.
Sure, it's a cool game and it's the "big thing" in horror right now, but there's only so much they can do to keep the community from getting bored because it's tied to a specific license. I can't see it outlasting DBD, or even being close to it.

On this forum watching as NOBODY is asking for it and EVERYONE is focused on nerfing DH instead.
Well, I think Dead Hard was equally problematic and it was used more (not necessarily picked more, but you would see it more frequently because it isn't an endgame-only perk), but I've been seeing people ask for this change to Adren since... jeez, at least 2019 if not earlier.
-

I personally run We'll Make It both because it saves a LOT of time and if you don't go full hook bomb you can get a lot of points for safe unhooking and full heals.
A pity that they neutered Prove Thyself. I would legitimately still run it, even if it only gave the BP bonus but not the repair speed.
Forget Prove Thyself, bring back the gains from old WGLF

-
Yes, I would love to see some Trapper buffs, thank you for asking.
...Oh. I saw the word "traps" and got too excited :/
-
My idea would probably work better as a buff to Agitation rather than it's own perk, but I'd like to see an increase to pick-up speed. I don't know why, I just think it would be neat.
-
I agree that having her in the game would be cool, but since our version of GF is an original character it would be kind of... dumb?
How do you fit her in when she has no connection to the killer from her franchise?
-
@Gandor said:
Ah yes. Adren has high pick rate, because everything else got nerfed. So it means it's op now. It doesn't matter that it wasn't touched or complained about FOR LONG YEARS. It just needs nerf now, because survivors are not allowed to have useful perks
People have asking for this very change for years. Where've you been, bud?
-
They've been tunneled three games in a row and don't want to make it four, is my guess.
-
@Pulsar said:
They'll remove the Endurance and do nothing else because they are reasonable.
The endurance part of it doesn't come into play all that much, at least in my experience.
I'd say they should see how it works at 2% and also limit haste-stacking. I'm fine with survivors being a little speedy, but a good survivor using this perk is a nightmare to chase.
-
Could it be the iri add-on that makes her faster when she's out of hatchets, maybe?
-
@Alice_pbg said:
You can like... camp a gen from behind a wall I guess.
Or camp a totem.
Pretend you are controlling victor?
Honestly, the perk is just outdated in it's design. Should get a new effect.
I remember Otzdarva doing the Victor trick with Insidious and getting a hook-grab because of it lmao
He didn't even really have to camp, necessarily - he knew somebody was around and it took all of five seconds for them to show up.
-
Truthfully? Because I remember how good at survivor I used to be and I want to get back to that level! I don't mind dying as I try to get good again.
That said, I play more killer than survivor so maybe I'm not the target demographic for this question.
-
@Nazzzak said:
I had this selected and couldn't get a single iri emblem. Unselected it and picked the 'avoid a basic hit' one, and my next 3 games I got the iri emblem 🫤
Let me guess, you then reselected the unbroken challenge, got the iri emblem, and it didn't track.
No? Just me? Cool.
-
Hot take, maybe, but Legion is much better than people give them credit for.
My favorite build to use on them is Enduring, Ruin, Jolt and Surveillance. If you pair this build (well, mostly enduring) with the yellow tape that refills frenzy when stunned by pallets and the brown add-on that increases lunges (or the iri button, if you want something stronger) you can swing at pallets like a madman (madperson) with little fear.
Also, enduring is fantastic on him for the double tap potential. If you hit a survivor with frenzy and they still drop the pallet on you, 9/10 times you'll get sucked to the same side as the survivor and recover from the stun fast enough to flick around and smack them down as they vault it.
It doesn't work every game, but I went on a 24 (I think) win streak with him using this build with the yellow/brown add-on combo I mentioned.
-
I've had this happen to me lately too. I'll be quite literally breathing down a survivor's neck and the chase won't initiate until several seconds later.
Very fun getting looped 5 times at shack as Pig instead of 3.... :')
-
Crazy idea but hear me out:
Buff the killers who rely so heavily on this perk so it doesn't feel like a necessity both to use it and to camp, with or without it.
The killers who get the most value out of it are among the weakest in the roster: Trapper, Pig, Clown, etc. (That said, Wraith isn't particularly weak right now, but it also shines on him.)
-
I'm surprised that the tombstone add-ons are still in the game. Myers as a whole, but especially these two add-ons, feel like relics of a different game because.... well, they are. There's no place for them in 2023 DBD.
That said, if they nerf these add-ons before giving Myers a rework/buff you'll see him less than you do now and he'll be even harder to do well with than he is now (assuming you're facing decent survivors, ofc)
-
I'll admit that I've always been much better at killer than survivor, so I've never really experienced how oppressive a very good Nurse or Blight can be, so maybe my answer would change if I ever did reach that level.
However, for the time being, my answer is Freddy. He's not even a very strong killer, but playing against him is such a bore. They said, he's also incredibly boring to play. Even when I win I don't feel good about it or rewarded in any way. Total snooze-fest all around.

A map-wide Terror Radius would be busted for various reasons.
He would get a map-wide ping every minute, through his Static Blast. Less with add-ons.
TR perks would be hilariously effective if it was map-wide. Coulrophobia in particular would just shut down healing almost entirely.
You'd have no way of knowing how far away he is. A constant TR is effectively no TR, information wise.
His passive Madness increase was removed when his power was overhauled years ago. He must zap or use Static Blast to increase madness.
Can you imagine Impossible Skillchecks Doc being effective on every map instead of only The Game and School maps?
The killer main in me loves the idea, but the empath who wants everybody to enjoy the game is like this: ":o"

Self healing is boring. Find a healing partner.

I disagree, I play against 1 SM a week. I have played against 20 Xenos in the past 24 hours. Everyone is playing her right now, because they know she is broken. All this does is cause a huge survivor MMR deflation, which will be felt by the weaker killers down the line.
There aren't enough SMs to do what Xeno is doing right now. Not to mention not every SM plays like she needs to play to be broken.
Have you really not considered that people are playing Xeno so much because the chapter just came out? People want to play the new stuff; not everybody is out to get you, man.

Not saying it should be kept, but they're obviously in no hurry to buff him so...
-
This is the only play-style that makes Trapper even semi-viable, at least at higher MMR. Blame BHVR for indirectly nerfing him with map sizes and the terrible new grass on it, not the players for doing the one thing that actually works.
