More perks should become weaker when someone dies for killer. The biggest balance issue in the game is survivors have 0 catchup mechanics. If you get down early at all the game is over.

What if someone has Unbreakable?
THEN YOU CHOOSE NOT TO SUICIDE HOW HARD IS THAT. Seriously do people even think at all before coming up with these hypotheticals?
-
If this is the case that's stupid and doesn't correctly account for how the games go. You aren't guaranteed to lose if they wouldn't have DC'ed but many times they DC when the game is in a most likely unwinable state. Most of those would have been losses and it sure isn't fun for the other survivors. So to count those as "draws" is completely wrong.
-
It's the survivors that can get snowballed and have 0 catchup mechanic. This is why so many people quit games. If someone gets 2 hooks before 2 gens are done the game is pretty much over.

People that claim the patch was a disaster are the ones having the knee jerk reaction to change. I mean,they complain about tunneling,camping,etc etc Yet I see multiple perks/solutions to combat this and that. OTR does well vs tunnelers,Kindred/Kinship do well to counteract camping,BT is still very powerful of an anti tunneling perk except this one isn't self applicable,etc etc.
it's just a good bit of survivors not accepting that they can't be the power role for once,it sounds very shallow but that's honestly what most of it comes down to.
Why do you need to run so many perks just to avoid a cheap tactic? How about the game devs just maybe remove it, which was what they for whatever reason thought was happening with a great 5 second bt.
-
It's insanely boring gameplay. Just one chase then you are dead.
-
They need to fix the matchmaking system. There are way too many games where a survivor gets downed in 20 seconds and I can run the killer for 2 minutes. I have no idea why the skill level in these games are all over the place.

I had assumed that because tunneling and camping is no longer (usually) necessary, people wouldn't do it. It wasn't a very fun way to play the game and I always felt like I was absolutely ruining that Survivors experience.
That was not the case, it seems. Since tunneling and camping have been made easier and with fewer punishments, players are taking full advantage of that to secure wins as fast and as easily as possible.
People are typically going to do whatever gives them the best chance to win. I don't see how naive devs have to be to think that killers would have some honor code. Look at all the extra gen regression you see now, it's even worse than before because with the extra 10 seconds it gives you that much more benefit to run them.
-
And why do you guys think this community is more toxic than others? You think dbd players don't play other games? They don't punish people for dcing or killing themself on hook. They allow camping/tunneling and made it even worse with the recent update. They put baby survivors with experienced survivors and baby killers with experienced survivors etc. This game just allows a lot of toxic behavior that other games wouldn't allow.

Then how do you "get good" in solo q with this awful matchmaking?
The matchmaking is the biggest problem. In dbd you cannot carry bad teammates. If they get chased first you lose, it's that simple. They need to fix matchmaking. If a killer is downing someone in 20 seconds, that survivor should not have been in the game.
-
I love these comments when I personally think the new DH is better than the old one and other than that all my perks haven't changed lol
-
They should have it work during deep wound. It's a skill based ability, not some free hit like OTR or BT.
-
Got 15 minutes q times for killers because the game is broken and clicking/t bagging are what they need to look at?
-
The only time I think a killer deserves to camp is if someone goes down in basement. If you go down near basement (unless it's some iron grasp/agi build), then you kind of deserve it.
-
Sole survivor isn't a healthy perk idea. It incentivizes people to kill their own teammates so they can escape, which shouldn't ever be the goal of a game.
-
@Veinslay said:
And killers that do that are graciously awarded with teabags in the exit gates!
I always say thank you after the game and admit they would have won if they just hooked the person. I realize I'm one person, but I always thank them.
-
Biggest issue for me is matchmamking. Sometimes I will have teammates that get insta downed when I consider the killer a baby and can run them for a minute without getting hit and they leave me. If games were more balanced in skill then they would be fine.
-
The worst part is how much of a catchup mechanic tunneling is. I ran the killer for 3 gens and then he camped me and got a 4k because my team kept trying to save me. Yes it was stupid of them but it's solo q, you can't coordinate.
-
@Krazzik said:
Who says camping//tunneling doesnt work? It's widely acknowledged to be the best way to win as killer.
Look at any camping and tunneling discussion. Also there was the Scott Jund tunneling video on YouTube where he said how it was a "risk" and tons of people agreed and just followed his lead. So yeah, everywhere you look people say tunneling isn't as effective as it seems.
-
@Seraphor said:
Yes let's add to the problem. Great idea.
I swear all of these campers and tunnellers that have appeared recently are the same people who used to play solo survivor.
I bet if every killer tunneled they would fix it. The problem is right now only 1/3 do so BHVR doesn't think there's a problem. If every killer started tunneling they would finally realize it's a stupid tactic they need to get rid of.

That’s my belief. It’s not like you can coordinate via communication before a match. Survivors who aren’t running “the right perks” would likely be avoided.
So if you know your teammate has deliverance or unbreakable that wouldn't help at all? Not knowing if a teammate can unhook themselves so you don't need to run over? That's not useful info? Or knowing someone is running CoH so you know not to cleanse dulls? Not useful at all?

Killers get 15 benefits over survivors: "SEE EVERYONE JUST DEPENDS ON DEAD HARD"
-
@drsoontm said:
Against "baby" survivors (to take your expression), yes, of course.
But good survivors can take advantage of all the hiding places in the map and use stealth. (Instead of, say, run everywhere, fast jump, ...)
I don't think I've won many games against stealthy survivors on that map.
You know you can just blink to a gen right? You can't just sit and hide you have no idea if the nurse is going to blink onto you. If you are losing on midwich as nurse you might not know you can blink up and downstairs.
-
I play with some more casuals in a 4 man swf. They pretty much stopped playing since 1/3 of the games are the killer tunneling and getting a 4k. It's not fun. For some reason the devs thought killers would have some "code of honor" and not tunnel or run gen regression after update. It just made things worse.

You can't force ppl to play the game tho.
That's weird then why punish for disconnecting?
-
High MMR always is more survivor sided. Good survivors can loop good killers. Bad survivors cannot loop bad killers. All the good streamers that say there's no problem don't know what it's like even in the mid tiers.
-
*New killer playstyle. Fixed that for you. Camping/tunneling guarantees a 3k now. It's just easy wins.

@Bardon said:
The devs have added incentives to camp/tunnel by removing the BP from BBQ, as an example. Before the killer had an incentive to go after every survivor ASAP to ensure they got those sweet BP so tunnelling from the start wasn't a good idea. Now - why not? No loss to the killer.
News flash people with bbq still camp tunnel. Camping and tunneling is just a great tactic to win and the devs are too lazy to figure out a fix.

@Akumakaji said:
I always advocated for a catch up mechanic for the losing side, ie whenever the ratio between hooks and gen done is skewered to one side, like a speed boost to the killer or a repair boost or grund reduction to the survivors, but alas I always got shot down because people apparently don't like the feeling of "getting punished for playing good". I never understood this mindset, as a lot of games of DBD are nowadays decided in the first 2-3min. If the survivors make some big blunders the killer generates so much pressure that they can't possibly finish their gens, and the other way around, if the killer choses the wrong survivor to chase and gets looped for 80s and 3 gens pop in union, then the game is pretty much over, too.
So why is there so much resistance to a mechanic that just makes this totally one sided games more interesting instead of just a stomp fest for one side? Or do people love stomping so much?
This is one of the biggest problems for survivors. If someone gets hooked twice before 2 gens are done the game is probably over. This happens all the time. Then you just sit on gens and wait to die. There's no catchup mechanic for survivors.
-
They need to just punish people for instantly dying. If you go on first hook and try to kobe off and miss 2 skill checks, you are doing the same thing as disconnecting but you don't get a ban for it.
-
When you give killers about 15 benefits over survivors in one update, yeah it does become a bit easier.

Your teammates lost their Dead Hard crutch
You people think DH is like some godsend perk like NOED. The update had 15 other killer benefits but yeah it's just all about DH being gone.
-
All the people saying "needed crutch perks to survive" are so full of it. Ever since the nerf to DH was announced I haven't been running a single perk that got affected by the update (swapped DH for lithe). Then all of a sudden after the update the games are a lot worse hmm I wonder what could have happened. Oh yeah and is there a perk that takes 10 seconds off of gens or stops killers from tunneling everyone? Don't think so.
-
The problem with legion is most players don't know how to play against legion properly. A lot of players can't really do anything if they are injured and will just hide and wait for heals. To play against legion you just never heal. It's a boring killer to play and play against.
-
Wow 5 seconds of BT amazing. Give basekit off the record endurance and would tunneling still happen? Nope exactly.
-
Nothing lowkey about it. The best part is streamers saying how things are ok when they are at the top mmr. Try playing at lower mmrs and see how things work.
-
I have a weird but good idea for tunneling. If a killer gets say 3 hooks on someone before the 5th total game hook, that person doesn't die. So if there's a person with 2 hooks and a person with 1 hook. If the person with 2 hooks gets another hook, they don't die they get a bonus hook state.
-
The problem with survivors is there's no catchup mechanic. If a killer gets someone on 2 hooks a minute into the game, it's basically over.
-
@geni said:
there is no solution to camping and tunneling, but you can reduce it by giving killer incentives to not do it, like more bloodpoints or a basekit No Way Out, basekit NWo only if soloq receive buffs and nurse and blight receive nerfs, thats my take
There is no solution to hiding in a locker all game. But you can reduce the incentive to do it by adding crows. Think think think.

@YOURFRIEND said:
If you're losing to opponents worse than you, why would you want to face people better than the people you can't beat? Absolutely bizzare logic.
Lets say they made gens take 30 seconds to finish. Then the top most skilled killers in the game would only be able to beat baby survivors. I'm assuming you are at a low mmr because you can't understand this but at higher mmr the chases are a lot more interesting and there is a lot more strategy involved. If you ever get there you will understand.
-
"play intelligently"? it makes the cooldown after a hit faster, how do you "intelligently" play around that. you get hit and the person recovers really fast... lets try thinking
-
As a killer main I say gens should take 30 seconds to do
-
He is missing the complete point which is when you get tunneled it almost guarantees a loss (for the team, not just for you). I don't care about doing gens, I care about winning. If tunneling lead to a 3 man escape most of the time that would be fine. But tunneling someone out almost guarantees a 3k.
-
They made gens slower, buffed some killer perks, gave the best killer perks minor nerfs, nerfed all the best survivor perks so they weren't useful, gave killers buffs to basically every action they do. This isn't some minor "hurr durr git gud without dead hard thing" they basically took a sledgehammer to the game and are wondering why people aren't having fun.

Imagine DH getting nerfed and then killers still letting it live rent free in their heads. It’s an obsession at this point.
Imagine seeing an update where killers get 20 buffs/benefits over survivors and everyone saying that the only reason the game is broken is because of DH being nerfed.
-
They really just need a catchup mechanic for survivors. If you kill 1 survivor and there's more than 1 gen left, the game is over. That's why tunneling is so effective. Anyone can tunnel out a survivor before 4 gens get done. Then it's an easy 3v1 with 2 gens left. Survivors should get some sort of gen repair boost in certain scenarios like that or else people know it's a hatch game 1 minute into the game.
-
I literally fell asleep during a legion game last night. Was kind of late and we were 3 gened but we also had a boon. So it was just "tap the gen, get chased away and heal up at boon", rinse repeat. Legion is so stupid and boring to go against. For the survivors the power is dumb, you don't do anything just take the hit. Then outside of that it's an m1 killer. Then the games take forever because you are always mending and getting chased off of gens.
-
The tunneling rate has gone up a ton after this update. Killers know if they get someone out it won't take too long and guarantees a win.
-
After a rough start I'm escaping about 40-45% of the time. The problem is though a lot of times I seem to be going up against much less skilled killers just to escape. It's pretty stupid looping a killer forever then barely making it out. Before you would go up against a good killer and it'd be a fair match. Now it's just some baby killer that tunnels someone out and then you have a 3v1 with 2 gens left. Fun stuff.
-
Yeah must be fun being able to tunnel someone out and guaranteeing a 4k. Great meta. Call it the tunnel meta.
