  • While i am aware of the undertone in your post, i give you my answer sincerly.

I just want you to be respectful and remember we are your fellow gamers. The problem with this is, a lot of survivors seem to not realize that. Its hard to ask killers for respect if so many of my fellow survivors are just rude and disrespectful. But i am.

In game terms, spread out hooks make for the best games in my opinion. However, i belive this game is survivor sided (even though i only play solo survivor), and i know its not easy to pull of. I wont expect such a thing from the killer.

Basicly, dont camp for no reason (yes, there are tactical reasons sometimes, and no, hooking someone between the 3gen you set up and then patroling those gens is not camping at all, neither is following a survivor you chase back to the hook, and if you see scratch marks around the hook, yeah, searching for that survivor is the thing to do) and dont intentionally tunnel (i met killers that run into you after you were unhooked that go out of your way to avoid you. I consider that really good sportmanship , but would never expect that from any killer. Bad luck happens, down me if i made the wrong decision. Just dont ignore anyone else to kill that one person without even hitting someone else).

Yeah, and i dont like tea that much. But if it was a good game, i like a good chat afterwards. But again, with the toxicity in this community, i know why a lot of players dont.

The problem is, this only applies to me. A lot of survivors think different from me, so you can never please all.

However, if you remember we are your fellow gamers, you might find terms how you would like the game to be played if you are/were a survivor. Then be that killer.

(please note: i, when i play killer, dont live up to that myself. I consider myself an above average survivor, but i am a bad killer, and when facing a good swf, i will tunnel just to keep up. But when i notice the survivors are not on my skill level, i try to make the game like i would as a survivor. Also, while i understand why killer do it, since i dont care about rank, i never slug for a 4k, but race the last survivor for the hatch (just to get the game finished. 2 Survivors wont win, but might hide long enough to make the game unenjoyable to me. But then, i dont run whispers)

So basicly, find your own terms. Just dont be a bully.

All they did was make the key that left the hatch open for 30 seconds make it so now it opens for 10.

Not a single match ever had that be relevant. People group up so they can all t-bag and escape together.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2189936#Comment_2189936

What I deserved was a fair match not some magical item that opens a magic door tha gives the survivor an insta win with no way to stop them.

I would agree, hadn´t i just been camped to death for no other reason than going down first, giving the killer a free kill with no way to stop him.

Since the ds-nerf, killers camp and tunnel way more than before. We know keys will get another nerf, so people use them (or perks to find them). Yeah, noone gets fair matches at the moment.

  • @TobeySK said:

Why not give killers the option to select if they want to play against swf (like the crossplay option)?

The swf groups could still play, might just have a longer waiting time for matches

Because the game highly favors swf and as long as their advantages aren´t compensated for, there is no reason to play against them, unless you are an above average killer looking for a challenge.

Then, however, you will have swf that just gets beaten, and their complains are increased fourfold.

    Yes they can. Fix matchmaking.

    Was talking about voicechat...

And then you come along and prove my second paragraph right.

Yeah, and since noone else was talking about voicechat that was totaly obvious.

And yes, i am against voicechat too, but at least there is an argument for that, being that if an ingame voice chat was implemented, solo survivors would be closer in power to swf and thus killers could be buffed to competete with swf.

You, however, had no arguments at all, and if you were talking about something else entirely, why do you do it in this thread?

Because the other ones concerning voice chat are too hard to find for you?

  • @Raptorrotas said:

    Lol 90-95... so much advantage.

Well. Good to see that only survivors are allowed to use thirdparty software or edits for advantages AND demand those to be made basekit.

Thats a kind of stupid post, since killers use stretched res as well AND a killer demanded the increased fov to be made basekit.

Has nobody ever taught you that 2 wrongs doesn´t make it right? Stretched resolution and brightness filters are basicly cheating in my opinion, and shouldnt be allowed in any case. The problem is you cannot control it. But that doesnt mean the next cheat has to be in the game. This game depends a lot on visuals, and thats why a colorblind option was demanded, so you can play the game without cheating, because external color filters actually gave you a way higher advantage then the color filters do, because they only change some of the ingame things, leaving the rest intact.

  • @ShamelessPigMain said:

Title says it all. I really don't want to promote another perk-versus-other perk kind of situation (like when enduring would pretty much negate DS so now both sides are just down a perk slot), but at the same time, I don't want to deal with NOED. Any tips?

Detectives hunch and a map, until you know the spawning spots. There are not that many on every map, and once you know them, you dont need the perk anymore.

However, it might still make you faster in finding totems, as well as can prevent a 3-gen.

And i disagree with aven_Fallen, just break them. It doesnt take that long, and rewards top bp. I get more bp then the killer most of the time, and totems contribute to that.

  • Just use players instead of survivors, it holds true for all camps. I was accused of genrushing, gentunneling and gencamping as a survivor.

I also was accused of just hidding in a corner because the killer never saw me while i did 3 gens and all 5 totems alone...

Even had killers blaming me for tunneling, because they saw me with bbq but couldn´t find me then, so they went back to the hook..yeah, my fault.

But i also saw killers that use bbq, go to the other side of the map, find the survivor, and he runs all the way back to the hook, unhooks in front of the killer and then accuses him of tunneling and camping...maybe stay away from the hook when in a chase?

  • First of, i am colorblind, and i used color filters before, and i am glad they implemented colorblind mode. And i think the colorblind mode gives less advantage than a colorfilter for normal-seeing people, thus are not that easily abused.

The brightness aspect was brough up by me because people already use them to cheat on stealth players, and a fov-change would just increase this problem, thats what i was going for.

Its funny how survivor mains say that the game is killer sided... but they dont want to play killer.

    Hmmm

And how is that different from killer mains that don´t want to play survivors?

  • @beached said:

As somebody who plays in a SWF from time to time unless they’re true sweat lords, they’re probably talking about random stuff throughout the match. When I play with my friends I’m not shouting out what the killer is doing and what gens we should pop and how to coordinate a flashlight save, I’m just kinda auto-piloting the video game while I catch up with friends and shoot the [BAD WORD].

So none of you ever say "also, the killer is chasing me" or "finish the gens he is camping"?

Because thats already a lot of information, and even if i was talking casually with my friends, those kind of infos were always passed on in our swf groups.

    @MadLordJack said:

If you were to only go against unco-ordinated teams you'd quickly r alise why SWF and Comms is a good thing.

That, or you're the kind of person that doesn't get bored of playing the same game over and over again on the easiest difficulty. Which is okay for single player titles, but not so much multiplayer ones.

And why is that? Explain it to me, please. Because as i see it, without swf and comms the game could be balanced properly around solo play. Now they try to balance it around solo and swf at the same time. I am really interessted why you think that is a good thing.

  • A already bought a car, so i think the gasoline should be free!

  • Yes, everyone can. Just dont expect them to be right.

  • A lot of the player base looks at the game just from their perspective, and they give a lot of bad comments about any changes not fitting their point of view.

Like, a lot of players ignore the stealth aspect, because they dont like it. the devs, however, have to take that into account.

The main problem, however, is self made. I dont think you can balance the game around swf and solo players at the same time, but the devs refrain from seperating the two into different queues with different balancing to make the matchups fair either way.

Also, in some aspects, like matchmaking, i simply dont think the devs have any idea how to make it work properly. So yeah, i would avoid the forums too.

  • since i am in no rush, usually i can play normaly and the challenges just happen. However, if i have to use a perk or item i dont like to play with, i try to finish it as fast as i can, by dedicating a match or two to it.

If i do killer challenges, (and i dont do all of those) i rush them, though. Special killer, special perk, special map (like the wall-breaking challenge) to get it over as fast as i can.

  • I would like to see the escape rates of swf. I think there we might see a problem.

  • I dont think that is true. It happens often that you turn a corner, duck down, and when the killer follows you crouchwalk back around the corner. Because the killer is in a chase with you and is already paying attention where you might have gone, and a bigger fov will help with that.

Sure, if you just pass by somewhere and spot a random survivor, that might be true. But by juking in a chase, i think it would make a difference, because shadowborn already does.

  • I never encountered such killers.

Regular killers, afk-killers, farmers, yes, but not the one you discribe.

However, i had such people as teammates in solo queue, just wandering around (in one case walking circles in the basement, in one game a 2-swf, one with a key and one with a map, waiting for the other two to finish gens or get found) and taking in the scenery. I understand it with new and reworked maps for the first few days, but a lot of gen-allergics want to play survivor neverthless.

But again, never saw that in a killer.

  • How would you balance out the fov-slider? Because stealth is a thing, and should be, in this game. An fov-slider is a heavy nerf on that (especially with color/Brightness-filters), so how do you want to balance it to keep the stealth aspect? Or do you just dont want that at all?

I mean of course it would help a lot of killers, because thats one of the few aspects that make you juke a killer in the first place.

  • @FIEND8LOODED said:

I mean really, devs? You let killers stand WHEREVER they want??? Killers can stand NEAR survivors on hooks without getting instabanned??? Completely ridiculous. This game is actually unplayable. Please make it so that camping results in an in person arrest or I'm going to uninstall DBD and burn my computer.

Calm down, you sound completly rediculous! You only need to burn your computer if you have a computer virus, but then you have to burn your clothes and credit card as well!

IF the devs dont comply to your terms, you just smash your keyboard, or probably your monitor, but dont forget to film yourself. Thats what shows them!

Dont confuse the two! innocent trousers or space bars might get hurt!

  • Maybe they just understand math better than you. or maybe, like myself, they play in an enviorment where you cant relay on teammates. Here in europe, i play with russians a lot, and many of them dont heal you, so you are the easy target if the killer shows up on the gen and they can escape.

Also, grunts of pain and pools of blood are a litte counterproductive if you happen to like the stealth playstyle more than the running in circles playstyle.

What i agree on is that a lot of player running it doen´t know when not to heal, like that gen that got kicked but is 95% complete, or that unhook you dont do even though the killer just downed a second guy on the other side of the map.

  • I give up, sometimes. But its never about the killer, its usually about teammates. When people go out of their way to make life hard for their team, screw them.

  • If he could, spirit would be very much underperforming, since killers have to keep up in a 4v1, so they need to have advantages in a 1v1. This is just nonesense that means nothing at all.

  • Well, no. I like my matches to be a little longer than just 5 or 8 minutes, at least 15 minutes. Thats what i prefer. Why should your preferences take priority over mine?

Also, its kind of funny. If it happens to you more often, then most likly you employ your killers strength to just tunnel out one or two survivors.

However, the survivors have to play stealthy then, and if you cant find them, they are also effective. Why should a win then be handed to you?

Id say it certainly can happen across any skill level.

The issue is that losing the last kill that the killer did work for but is denied because of a coin flips does greatly effect their pip in a game which isn't fair honestly

It is not. A hatch escape with one or two players left n the game is a loss anyway, and pip system should reflect that.

Yes, you escaped, but no, you were far from winning.

It is a liitle different from a 3 and 4 man escape, there most of the objective is already done.

  • Oh it sure is part of the game. But i do believe its not how the game is intended.

as it is asymetrical, it is balanced around the killer having an advantage over the survivors in a 1v1 situation, but he has to spread the damage (or hooks) (like hooking one guy, go into chase with the next, hook him, start a new chase, while the remaining 2 survivors (the one not hooked and not in a chase) have to spread their attention between unhooking and doing gens.

However, tunneling employs the 1v1 advantage the killer has to gain an advantage by reducing the number of survivors.

Its like a father playing with 4 kids. All together, they might overpower him in a rough´n´tumble, but if the father decide to change the rules and the kids have to go against him 1v1, the outcome is clear. But one is a fun game for the whole family, the other is an unsportsmanlike abuse.

The thing is that this game has no decent matchmaking, and a killer outskilled by the survivors has very few options to do anything at all.

Its a thing people would never do in a real life game, because soon they would have noone left to play with.

    That's a common myth.

Survivor queues are actually quick and often even instant in the morning.

Killer queues often take longer than survivor queues in the morning but then go faster at night.

That's something people know when they play both sides equally.

I would argue that a substantial part of the community is working during the morning till the evening, and mostly play at night, making the player count rise at that time. Thus, it is not a myth, its true for most people who have a regular job.

Yes. I think I'd a killer shuts down a team with 5 gens left they should be given an advantage where as now it feels like killers get a bit screwed since they performed well but lose their advantage despite doing well

I would say if a killer shuts down a team with 5 gens left he already had the advantage, mostly due to matchmaking, because he was playing vs survivors way beneath his skill level. Or would you say that happens a lot in balanced matches?

  • @ShinobuSK said:

Similar experience? Yes but as a killer lol. Ever since I got rank 13 I have been exclusively paired with mix of purple and red survivors. Only advice I ve been given was "git gud"

So yea, nothing strange about it

Thats normal. I stopped playing killer. The game is in my opinion survivor sided anyway (i am a survivor main, and i escape a lot ^^), and then getting paired above your skill level time and again is just not worth it.

  • the thing is that it doesnt matter. I start out to play a thrilling game (thus spreadding hooks and maximising it) but then you get a red rank swf who start bullying you yet again. To me, teabagging is morse code for " please camp and tunnel me and my team, thank you", and thus what i do if they start teabagging. They want to be rude, i make the game as unpleaseant as i can.

  • Moris had the problem that they unbalanced the game, if the killer managed to hooktunnel mori a survivor of his first hook, turning a game designed as 4v1 into a 3v1 too early on.

keys dont have that potential. In most cases, keys come into play as a backup in an already lost game. Does it rob the killer of one or two kills? Yes, it does. But it also saves the solo survivor those team got hit by (serious, not the i-got-downed-so-i) dcs.

Moris could turn an undecided or even a lossing game into a win, key´s cant. They just let people survive, but not turn it into a win.

However, the emblem system doesnt reflect that, as well as it doesnt reflect the win if a killer kills all survivors on first hook with no gens done.

Swf, on the other hand...yes, thats the most op feature in the game, and they are not going to do anything about it. And as bad as i think it is, i understand the decision. Balancing the game but alienating 50% of the player base doesnt seem like a good tradeoff for a game thats not really designed for competition anyway.

  • @Zixology said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2165236#Comment_2165236

Umm no. I'm not going to be happy that you're farming me for points in front of the killer.

So, if you have the ability, you would just kick the survivor that tries to rescue you from a camping killer, highly likly dooming him for a down. So, if afterwards you realize he had bt and you did him wrong, what compensation should he get?

Also, if the killer camps you and there is no way to unhook you savely, are you staying in the game as long as you can if noone comes for you?

  • Is it, though? To determine a powerlevel of a perk you HAVE to see them in context of the game, and thus, in relation to other perks.

Your opinion that perks are meta because they are too strong for example has no weight unless you give some arguments.

Are they meta because they are too strong? Or are they meta because they are the strongest availible, without being to strong? These are not the same. Some perks, like ds, can be meta not because they are strong, but because they counter a certain playstyle of killers, or because they are usefull in every match, like sprintburst.

And yes, you also have to compare them to killer perks to see the bigger picture. Thus, i think this is not whataboutism.

Also, it was mainly called out (or so i think) because your "argument" is an opinion and you try to discredit everyone not agreeing with you.

("People who think adding such strong perks to the game is healthy are insane")

So, the think you need are arguments, not opinions.

  • Yes, but then people should not complain about seeing the same meta perks time and again.

So it just keeps looping instead of a change in a different direction, compensating the nerf the reworked maps got.

  • dude, math is not on your side with this. I will not run lucky break with a 45second time window. I would have with 90, i might have with 60, i am not with 45, because it becomes a one-shot-perk. It would have been a nice boost to stealth play, because the reworked maps all nerf that aspect of the game, but so its still the old meta. Back to normal.

  • the problem right now is that you just can´t balance around solo and swf at the same time.

If you make killers stronger in comparision, they might be able to deal with sweaty swf, but solo can´t keep up. If you balance in the direction of a fair game for solo survivors, the average killer will be stomped they most swf, even the ones just playing for fun.

So yes, i see how fast the balancing is now, since it is next to impossible to do.

  • Na, i dont expect them to implement a voice chat, and if they do, i might just stop playing. Its not the first game i quite after playing for some years. its eating up too much of my free time anyway.

  • @Lord_Tony said:

So we all know removing SWF will gain no support from the survivor mains and we all know survivor mains claim SWF is not OP but you and I know fully well that's not true. They are OP as hell.

Since we can't get rid of SWF we give all survivors in-game voice chat.

So now every survivor solo or crossplay or whatever is now held up to the same standard as SWF

So now solos are finally on par with SWF all killers MUST be buffed accordingly to match spirit and nurse as ALL KILLERS SHOULD BE VIABLE AT RED RANKS.

There is no more difference from solo and SWF they are both on par with each other and killers must be buffed to compensate. No more balancing the game around solos.

First, as a survivor main, i dont support the removal of swf, but the seperation and individual balancing of swf from solo queue.

Also, giving voice chat to all doesnt solve anything. In the US maybe, but here in europe i play with a lot of russians which cant even write the same alphabet, let alone in a common language. I doubt voice chat would help that.

third, while one factor for the sucess is communication, its far from the only one. I played in swf groups without comm, and we still easily won, because your teammates where reliable. They cared for you, and that took protection hits, didnt farm you, didn´t dc. no voice chat will make your random teammates do that.

lastly, the game is designed around a lack of information. Thats what makes the game interesting, in my opinion. The moment you always know when you are safe it becomes boring. Thats why i stopped playing swf.

To summit: Voice chat doesnt turn solo into swf, thus it still can´t be balanced accordingly. To me, the only way to do it is to seperate solo and swf queue. Balance each seperatly, and killers won´t need to dodge swf, since it will be just as balanced as solo.

  • I, as a solo survivor only, see a hatch escape as a loss, unless a) all 4 escape, meaning the objective is done anyway, or b) 3 people escape because the killer forfeit the game by camping and tunneling the first survivor he caught.

One or two escaping via hatch ist a loss unless all gens are done.

SWF breaks every asymmetrical game. Communication trumps any nerfs or buffs. SWF should get reduced BP & leveling up per player, and the killer should get increased BP & leveling up per player- for his troubles.

But that means that swf would have it even easier. Reduced ranking up means they rank up slower, and thus are pairs vs weaker killer players, and do have an additional advantage. Why do you think that would be a good idea? (assuming that by leveling up you mean ranking up, because leveling up makes no sense here)

  • @Ethelwulf said:

I sure don't see survivors claiming it's also toxic for them to just crawl away into a corner of the map when they already lost so the killer can't find them and has to wait the full 4 minutes too and is denied of the hook points he worked for.

Guess being petty and spiteful towards a killer is ok but god forbid a survivor feels uncomfortable.

Well, out of spite, yes, thats toxic. There are reasons to do it that are not toxic.

Also, as a survivor, i crawl around the map to find the hatch. I escaped so often while slugged because the killer didnt find me in time and didnt know where the hatch was that i escaped. Sure, if the killer closes the hatch, i stop crawling whereever i am, but that doesnt mean the killer finds me. But has nothing to do with corners.

But people who just crawl away to hide and deny a hook, yeah, they are the same as a toxic slugger.

Give survivors ingame voice chat. Then balance around it. Its simple and effective.

If you fear communication problems because of other languages, then just add a "prefered language" filter, that matches survivors with the same choice.

Thats just one of the issues. I play in europe, with a lot of russian players. Lets just say beside communication problems due to the language, they play rather...different than the rest. Its quite common if i have 2+ of them in my games, that i die on first hook against non-camping killers, not getting healed to be the easier target if the killer shows up, and other.

The swf gap is not only due to communication, its also reliability, which solo play lacks.

and lastly, the game is designed around a lack of communication. Thats why i still play solo survivor instead of swf. Giving that to all players, changes the basic feeling of the game, and i wouldn´t want that. But since i dont have any influence over it, we will see what happens.

    But they are.

People don´t understand that there is a difference between planned changes and bug fixes. The later one might take longer, due to the spaguetti code. But its cristal clear, that the devs only nerf survivor things, when survivor queues are long and people complain about it.

I think its hard to say which survivor things need nerfs, because what the devs dont seperate is swf and solo. A perk might be needed in the solo queue to not make killers op, while it unbalances swf completly.

I think its the inability to balance both versions of the game but holding on to the fantasy you can balance the game around both at the same time.

People go into matches and expect to find them and then use them because they KNOW the chances are high they will get them. this is the abuse to intentionally go in to get them and then when they don't find them some will dc and move on. they are intentionally using something to shorten the matches and make killers de-pip and go from there. I've seen people not want to finish and complain because they brought a key and the killer was keeping the gens not completed etc. as if they were supposed to just be LET out. this is abuse when they are intentionally trying to make things not as intended. sure finding a key and using it isn't abuse, but when you expect to find it and dc then that's abuse at least two times over. I'm a 50/50 as I play both side and I'll admit I'd love to find a key and use it to get out, I admit I have keys stored for use at times, but I don't complain if I don't get a key, or if i don't make it out with the key etc. I might be disapointed but after i'm done i just move on, it's a game yes.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2155621#Comment_2155621

SORRY, survivor mains wanted to address moris, killer mains wanted to address KEYS.... devs said they were looking at both and they've ALREADY dealt with moris, now you want to "ADDRESS" camping???? great way to FORGET what happened 6-7 months ago without any preamble. what's next? NOED? TUNNELING? how about no killer at all so you win every game!

To be fair, survivors complained about camping and tunneling when i started to play the game 3 years ago.

So, is this an alt-account of yours, since you can answer what he thinks abusing a key is?

As i said, i agree that keys spawn too much at the moment, but i disagree with some other points.

I doubt that survivors want to shorten the match just to make killers depip. For one, Piping and rank means nothing anyway, and most survivors care about winning and/or getting out, not if whatever the killer pips or depips.

The only reason i cant agree on the dcs is that dcs always suck, no matter if they dc because they didnt find a key, they didnt like map or killer, or because the killer tunnels and camps. Thats nothing key-specific.

But yeah, one should not play the game relaying on an item you might or might not find in a chest (while i am fine if players use plunderers, they give up a perk slot for an item they still might not get)

Zero response from the devs about the god pallet count on that map, to no one's surprise because the communication between the devs and the community has been ######### appalling for the longest time, tempted to start disconnecting everytime I get it as killer, it's literally unplayable with half of the killer roster against a semi-capable team.

This is the first map in my 2+ years of playing DBD that literally makes me want to disconnect, i'd much rather spend 5 minutes spending bloodpoints than play on that absolutely atrocious map.

Yes, I just came from a game where 3 escaped, I was playing Wraith and pretty much couldn't do anything because there's so many god pallets that I can't do anything at.

inb4 this is moved to "Feedback & Suggestions" where no one will see it and nothing will change until the devs realise in 2 years time it needs reworking again, or until a certain lead balance person plays it and realizes how terrible it is

So, what would you propose how to balance the survivor nerfs the map had recived, instead of those pallets?

Everyone who loves this game wants it improve and not just lame response "stop playing" that's the reason we're in same place for 5 years

If you get all those who posted in this thread to agree what an improvement (beside bugfixes and the like) would be, then i will agree with you.

(Spoiler: it wont happen, people cant even agree what balance looks like in this game, let alone what would improve it).

  • The point is not even if it is survivor sided or not. The matchmaking is soo bad, that even if it were perfectly balanced otherwise, you either get a killer that outmatches you, or your team outmatches the killer, or you have rainbow ranks all around.

SWF makes a huge difference on skill level, even if a lot of people dont seem to understand that (or try to deny it in fear it might be balanced differently)

  • I play Claudette because she is the superior stealth character, and thats my playstyle. You can do it with others too, i do play Jeff that way, but since killers use brightness filters to cheat on visibility, you have to take the edge.
