We're well beyond just some consolers now, the problem is quite wide spread. Be thankful you are able to play the game fairly smoothly.

Here is a link to I think the largest thread on here ever. It began with a few consolers combining to relate their performance experiences, and grew to include many struggling PCrs as well.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/245229/rant-its-becoming-harder-and-harder-to-enjoy-this-game-due-to-poor-optimization

It isn't to change your stance, but to give a broader prospective. And keep in mind the consoles altogether are the larger playerbase now.

I'm aware of the thread but it still doesn't change my opinion on the OP's question. I consider game health more about balancing issues and fixing bugs and such. Optimization does not concern me, bugs do. As long as they fix the major ones, I'm fine. If the OP meant optimization, then my bad for posting here, but that's not how I took it. If he meant it to be under the umbrella of "game health" along with everything else, then my perspective on it doesn't change at all.

I'll be blunt about it because I'm an old man and I'm used to bad games and poor performing games: I upgrade or I stop playing if a game bothers me that much. You won't see me posting in that thread because who am I to be the antagonizer-- it's your concern, not mine.

Please don't tag me if you just want to talk about the other thread. I'm not interested.

  • All achievements except for the broken map. All perks on all characters except latest killer/survivors which are all near P2-50 just waiting for the event. Rift complete. Basically, I've been caught up since 2017 and it's just a matter of capping out after each release.

  • Yes. I understand some consolers have issues on their systems but that doesn't change my stance any.

  • I'm against a game health update because the game is passable for me. Sure there are bugs and a crash here and there but it's playable for me 95%+ of the time with the fun meter hovering around the 80% mark. I don't need it to exceed that if it means I'll get less content, because I get bored after a while. I've been playing games long enough to know that if I "finish" a game, and there's a long time in between content releases, there's a good chance I won't come back... even if the game is good.

  • An escape or 3k by any means. I don't worry about pips and keep it simple.

  • I don't suggest anyone P3 more than a handful of characters in DBD 2021, unless you're the type to like heavy grinds. Otherwise, for the casual player, it's just not worth it. It takes 8-10 hours to prestige a character, and that's if you make 50k per game. Double that if you don't have WGLF or BBQ.

  • Yeah, you should be mad, but not at survivors or SWF.. at least not yet. You should definitely be mad at the matchmaking. That was a joke. 22 hrs vs thousands of hours is not even close to being fair or fun because at your level, you won't even be able to learn whatever advanced tactics they know since you're still new.

I think it would be good, send a quick gg to pc and Xbox users then leave.

I think it would be better then to just have an option to choose certain responses like "GG" or "GJ Meg, you rat".

Because if people respond to me other than GG it's usually a gripe, then I usually end up talking a lot of head... and I type fast. I'll send out a paragraph of ######### and say "Later" before they can type their next message. That would probably be more frustrating.

  • I don't think it should be basekit because it if were, they'd do something to offset the advantage, like reducing the brightness of scratchmarks or audible cues/survivor sounds, or even making maps/survivor skins darker which would encourage stealth play. I'm not down with that at all.

  • The pictures look great- the video makes her look like a dude with a funny wig. Not a fan.

  • Playing during prime time from ~ 5pm - 9pm was very good. 30 ping direct connections were so much better than anything dedicated servers has to offer now and I'd rather go back (even with lagswitching), if it weren't for the security issues direct connection had.

  • Redo her sounds and I'd like her.

  • I've been wanting this for a while. It wouldn't stop people from having a voice, and I think it would be good to know the types of comments and posts made by the different types of players.

  • Having played a lot on Korean servers, overall, the average skill set at rank 1 is higher there than on US servers. I didn't find Japanese players much better than Americans other than they've been focusing on gens years before it really caught on here.

  • It's a mistake to believe anyone on here without knowing their true skill level. And just because a killer is good, it doesn't mean everyone can be good with them. A lot of people have their own skill cap that they can't pass.

  • I usually go make a coffee or go to the bathroom and by the time I come back it's done. Doesn't take long at all - well under 10 minutes. I use an ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro.

If by avoiding cheating we need to avoid having an advantage over all other players those on pc should only use controllers and cap our FPS at 20 in case we go against a switch player on lerys if we're keeping crossplay on

You don't have to avoid anything because what I listed isn't anything anyone has been banned for. As far as console handicaps vs PC, that's another issue, and no I don't think it's entirely fair either, but it's what BHVR is ok with since they purposely added it to the DBD experience.

  • Yes it's cheating. You can call it an aid, a QOL improvement, training wheels, whatever, it's still an advantage. If it weren't, then don't use it. Have it be an addon, or an option in game and this isn't even an issue because then EVERYONE will have access to it. And please, with the tape rationale.

Anything that isn't in the game that gives you an advantage over other players that don't or can't do it, like using nVidia filters, changing resolution, unlocking your refresh rate, etc, is cheating. It's just that BHVR hasn't come out and said they'll actively go out and ban for it, so what does it matter except to trigger people.

Maybe it's the word "cheat" that people don't like that they feel they need to defend it. I don't think anyone would disagree that it's an "advantage" tho. Soft word alert.

  • Not a fan of the mask change. His old one was iconic and the remake should be closer to the original.

Behavior has no rules against afking, it's a placebo button and there is absolutely no precedent for any afk bans.

You've convinced yourself of that and that's fine. Still won't stop people from clicking on the placebo button. It just may work one day!

  • @TTV_WAWAbyWibWib said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2121439#Comment_2121439

Behavior does not, has not and will not ban anyone for AFK behavior. It's as simple as that. You can be reported by every other player in the lobby every game you play for the rest of your DBD lifetime and nothing will ever happen to you full stop.

Like I said, then don't follow their rules. Be untouchable. I'll still report afk players each and every time. I'll leave it up to BHVR to do with the info what they want.

  • @TTV_WAWAbyWibWib said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2121424#Comment_2121424

Behavior also made clear that anything is bannable at their own discretion, but to say it that way is equally misleading and verges on misinformation. Better is to just say it how it is, afkers don't get banned and will not be period.

Not even sure what you're getting at. BHVR bans who they want based on the rules they set. If you don't want to follow their rules because you believe that they mislead you, then don't.

  • @TTV_WAWAbyWibWib said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2121382#Comment_2121382

AFK isn't actually bannable in DBD. Using an auto clicker to swing M1 and ctrl at fixed intervals, with or without running back and forth in place is.

BHVR has already said multiple times that if you're AFK for emergencies that's one thing-- they understand, but to go AFK on the regular is a bannable offense. So, if you have multiple reports against you over multiple games by different players, then you might get a ban. I report AFK wraiths all the time. Takes a few seconds. Whether BHVR does anything about it is up to them. I'll do my part tho.

  • As recently as yesterday, Almo said he can't comment on anything that already hasn't been announced, so most likely you will hear it from one of the community managers or maybe a dev stream. He did say though that there will be changes to Demo, Freddy, and Huntress Addons, but can't say when.

  • I still play because the grind is just right for me and overall it's still fun, despite its bugs, imbalances, etc. This isn't the only game I play though and it's probably healthy for people to pick up a few others or even quit completely if it burns them out. There's no shame in quitting a game you're not having fun in anymore.

Yep, once again missing the point.

You said recoil is fine. His recoil not bothering you is like saying you aren't bothered when you get aim assisted into a wall. It is the sole reason Trickster cannot use his power in maze tiles, buildings, or anything with a wall. You cannot simply "adjust," you cannot simply "get used to it," it is a hard cap on what is actually feasable as Trickster.

You tried to say the recoil was "not that bad." It is. You can say you aren't bothered by it all you want, but that's tantamount to saying you're fine with not being able to use your power. Skill and practice do not and cannot overcome RNG. This is not an FPS where you can "just get used to it" and do fine by clustering your shots because you cannot cluster your shots when it matters.

And if we're going to be condescending, at least have the decency to call me "sister."

I called you brother because I was being polite. You consider it condescending, but I don't know how else to get my point across to you than to break it down to basics because you really like putting words in my mouth.

I'm not getting into talk about game design on this subject. Read the original post- It's a simple question. Read my response- It's a simple answer from my perspective, and you want to make something more of it. "You can say you aren't bothered by it all you want, but that's tantamount to saying you're fine with not being able to use your power." Yes, that's exactly what I want you to get from what I said. Jesus.

You're still completely missing the point - you have to be insanely precise with your ranged attacks in DbD. As in consistently hitting a bullseye. This is a game designed around precision in all aspects, where a 5% movement speed difference is a game-changer. It is a game where if you're amazingly good you can just tag someone as they're going around a corner.

With that in mind, recoil makes zero sense. This is DbD, not an FPS wher eyiu and whatever your opponent is will be actively attempting to shoot each other. This is a game where a slight amount of artificial innaccuracy and recoil turns a high-skill killer into a steaming mess that cannot play a single high-wall tile.

I'm not missing the point because I'm not arguing for it. What? Brother, don't do that with me.

Did you even read the original post?

And.. I really have to lay out what I meant by my comment? Ok, please read:

    1. My first response in this thread was to give my input as a PC player because of how the OP worded his post.
    2. I play FPS games and am used to recoil.
    3. I do not have a problem with recoil on Trickster's power because it is a mechanic I am familiar with.
    4. The problems I have with the design of this killer ARE NOT recoil-related.
    5. I am not saying recoil should be in this game-- but at the same time it does not bother me.
    6. Come on.

FPS games generally use recoil as they depict you using a weapon that uses a small explosive to propel its projectiles on the same platform that contains the weapons sights. It's more for the feel of it (apart from some heavily competitive FPS games).

When it comes to throwing knives, generally accuracy is more the concern, you should be able to keep your head level while moving your arms...

Why are you quoting me when I'm not even talking about the game design for Trickster's power? Talk to Almo for that.

I said "If you play FPS games on the regular, this is nothing." Meaning, his recoil is something a FPS gamer can adjust to without much problem. And again, let me say I'm saying this from a PC perspective, so if you have problems because you're on console, then ok-- that's what the OP was saying. I was giving my input as a PC player.

  • @MadLordJack said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2060598#Comment_2060598

DbD is not an FPS. It requires extreme precision to play around maze tiles as any ranged killer.

DBD acts as an FPS when it takes an aspect of FPS gameplay, like recoil from using an auto fire weapon.

When I say that if you play FPS games regularly, then this is nothing-- I'm coming from that angle. I'm not saying that DBD is an FPS.

C'mon man, did I really need to say that?

  • @TragicSolitude said:

On PC with a mouse it's easy to adjust aim. When I've played FPS games on PC they've felt so natural. But on PS4 or any controller, aiming feels like hell. There are two options: adjust the sensitivity so that it's really low and small adjustments can be made while aiming but it really really really limits your reaction time when moving, or make it really high so that you have instant reactions when moving but trying to adjust your aim makes the camera swing wildly and your shots go all over the place.

Those are the options. It's why I am so often limited to being an M1 killer on PS4, which sucks. I even got one of those thumb stick adjustors to try to give me better aim control, and after a couple hours of using it the muscle/joint in my thumb was in pain for at least a week. It'd be really nice if this game were actually tested to be fun on console, but it's not. It runs without crashing every single time, and that seems to be enough to keep it greenlit.

(If this comes across as hostile, I apologize. I'm not being hostile towards you. I am just reeeaaally tired of feeling shafted by this game for being dumb enough to play it on console.)

No, it's not hostile- that's your reality and I'm cool with anyone's opinion. I've never been a fan of crossplay here simply because M+K controls are more precise giving us PC players an advantage which probably even trickles down to how fun the game can be because we're not limited like console players.

I hear what you're saying, but I was responding because the OP said he didn't know how the recoil was on PC and I gave my 2 cents. I'm not arguing that the recoil is not bad on console.

are you kidding? most guns in fps don't go all around the target like this does.

No, I'm not kidding. WTH. I'm not saying most guns, I'm saying if you play FPS games, they most likely have an SMG that has recoil in it and you get used to it.

Same thing here. On PC, it's not a big issue for me. I aim with my mouse, watch for the drift, and react to it.

  • The recoil on PC is NOT that bad. If you play FPS games on the regular, this is nothing.

    Oh well, then better wait.

But still 5 times is a little too rare for an older perk.

Once you get BBQ, you will kick yourself for not getting it sooner because it makes grinding so much easier. I highly recommend you buy it for $5 and not wait.

Besides, how can you not have Bubba in your killer rotation?

  • You get downed and crawl to a pallet. You then have to hope that the killer gets distracted or decides to slug so that you can heal up in the dying state. When/If you get picked up, drop the pallet on him.

  • You learn faster and figure out what's possible with SWF. There, you know what type of action works best for what situation, and you know what's possible after a lot of practice as a team. You can't practice with pub scrubs in the hope that you come across another solo survivor that knows what's up. Sure you can do this as solo too, and it's especially true now with all the videos out now- it just takes longer.

For the record, I'm talking about going for risky and flashy, fun plays. I'm not talking about ultra-safe plays just for the sake of escaping. Anyone can practice enough to be a good enough survivor to escape most of the time, to do it with flair though is where the fun comes.

Being the best at this game, to me, doesn't mean much unless you can do it in style.

  • @JPLongstreet said:

My concern would be sweat lord killers invading the casuals to steamroll them, and sweat lord SWF doing the same. How would either be prevented?

I think the idea is to pit sweat lord killers vs sweat lord SWFs. Not sure how the devs would pull that off but that's what I would aim to do in that situation.

  • I wish they did it for longer than 24 hours just so I could get a better feel for it. As it was, I really had to work for my kills. As solo survivor, I had better teammates, but I only played about 10 games so it still doesn't say much other than the initial impression that it's better than it was the last time I played.

I definitely think this is a step in the right direction even with all the complaints about sweat. It might even be easier for them to adjust "balance" by the parameters they set for your MMR. Hehe. If they could do that, BHVR wouldn't have to adjust much if matches steer more towards 2k/2e.

I just wish they would add stats to my account so I can see how I'm doing.

  • Let's set the record straight-- There is no killer on the roster that will win against a good 4-man, with consistency.

If you get 5,000-hour survivors and let them equip whatever perks they wanted, and have them go against a 5,000-hour killer that also knew how to play well, survivors will win most games.

  • @kyogul said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2021076#Comment_2021076

I'm not using it incorrectly. Saying a type of labour is unskilled is simply a way of referring to it having a lack of specialised skill, particularly in an area of work, not having no skill in general. If the game didn't require a considerable amount of skill then there wouldn't be such blatant tiers of skill in this game, and there would be no issues with rainbow matchmaking let alone the need for MMR if the game was so easy, and subsequently would mean that the disparity between someone who is relatively inexperienced game time wise compared to someone who is heavily experienced in that same regard would be almost identical in terms of performance. The reality is that they are not.

What you subjectively deem as being good enough to be labelled as skill is besides the point. It is actually skill at the end of the day and there's no arguing that. If you want to infantalise and boil it down, the talent required in video games amounts to pure button mashing and mouse moving. You have children who aren't even old enough to graduate primary school who are very proficient at FPS games and fighting games and who are able to pick up these skills by playing casually, and that alone showcases how simple it is to get "skilled" at any video game, and how people only subjectively hype up and demean games according to their own bias. This applies to the games that people often want to say requires skill such as Valorant/Tekken/Street Fighter/Overwatch etc.

What determines skill in this game isn't whether or not you 4k or even escape, and that's in the game mechanics itself. You can get a 4k and still lose a pip depending on how you play. You can escape a game and lose a pip depending on how you play.

The end point is, if this game was so easy, why is it taking you all so long to get good at it? Not everyone is a competitive player but if the game was this easy then it should be accessible to be good for all casual players, but yet most people aren't good. So what gives?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2021171#Comment_2021171

It really is funny how much nerds want to fight about whose button mashing is the hardest to do lol

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2020946#Comment_2020946

No one insulted you, I just questioned the authenticity of what you said considering you posted some blatantly incorrect statements. Such as probably not even 0.5% of the playerbase or whatever having more than 50 hours even though this is blatantly not true and just your own superimposition of your thoughts onto the game and trying to pass it off as fact, which I directed you not telling the truth about that by sourcing steam statistics showing a plethora of achievements which cannot be achieved in the time span you listed, as well as by a much larger playerbase than what you listed.

I think the discussion has been going fine. You made outlandish claims and you got corrected on it, so yes I'm going to treat what you say with some suspicion.

You're kind of grasping for straws here. First of all, general correlation =/= absolute correlation. Secondly, if you want a source for some common sense knowledge then you will have to refer to Google for that one, I'm not spoon feeding you. It's not hard to understand that generally more time spent into practising something renders an outcome of becoming prone to being better at it over time, as opposed to not doing it at all or virtually not doing it at all. Play time in this game translates to practice. And I made sure to say generally because this isn't always the case that someone becomes good in general regardless of their playtime, but particularly in accordance to their hours.

Also, I didn't see your "proof" in your pictures before of you going against streamers--you edited it after I read it. You made this weird goalpost that you're for some reason pretending that I said and I never did. I've said multiple times thus far 4king/escaping =/= inherently having skill. I never made the statement people of that calibre can never lose a game. Specifically Tofu (don't know who the other guy is) who doesn't even play seriously on stream in the first place and generally is just looking at chat, ######### with a flashlight (which shocker he had one), and/or using Head On. Kind of weird, and to many extents desperate-looking, how you took at best a few games of people ######### around on stream and thought your skill was basically equivalent to them. Big yikes

So on top of the lying, there's dishonest paraphrasing of what I said, on top of simply putting words in my mouth. What a trainwreck of an argument holy scheisse

Button mashing? Heheh. Ok, I see where you're coming from.

  • This is simple. This game does take skill, but the bar to be good is very low compared to other games that take more to master- like Quake, Starcraft, or Street Fighter. It's not even close.

I know people like to talk about game sense, awareness, prediction.. all the stuff that you need in other competitive games, but there's so many visual and audio cues, and random variables, that it takes away from the difficulty of the game. If you want to talk about balance, that's something else, but this game is easy to learn. May take some people time to be real good at it, but that's not hard to do either.

Now there is something to be said about just bad gamers in general. This game attracts a LOT of casual types and some of those don't want to or CAN'T get better, so take that for what it's worth.

And---I know Tru3 is a competitive gamer at heart and I'm sure when he says what he does, it's coming from that viewpoint (and again, balance issues aside).

  • I think anyone that likes a casual pvp, is drawn to horror, clicks with the presentation, likes to grind, and has less than a few hundred hours-- will give it a 9/10 rating. That doesn't surprise me at all because with low hours, you don't really know what's unbalanced or buggy, especially if you're casual-- you just know what's fun, and this game has at least a few hundred hours of that in it.. perfect for the average gamer.

  • If i put in a BPS as survivor, it's only because I know someone else in the lobby. I ######### around if the killer puts in a BPS too, but if they don't, I play normally, and if that means the gens go quick, then so be it. I generally don't put in a BPS to purposely farm.

  • Grinding for perks is one thing, and I definitely think that needs to be addressed. Grinding for cosmetic rewards is something very different because it doesn't affect your gameplay at all, so I don't mind the grind.. the RNG nature of the challenges though, I might have a problem with here and there but that's another issue.

  • @Smeagolthevile said:

I have started using the nancy inner strength perk, and since the map updates I am having an excessivly hard time finding dull totems. They arent spawning in any of the places that they used to on maps, and it feels like there are less over all. Is this due to the perk, or has there been a change? Does anyone know?

It's not just the map updates. I've noticed slight structure changes and totem placement every once in a while.

  • @TicTac said:

They wont do it for the same reason they dont award the lesser played side with a bonus. Im not sure what the reason is, but maybe they dont want to show the data so clearly.

They never said one way or another that they wouldn't award BP to switch sides, but they did bring it up once. They just never followed up on it so I'm not totally dismissing the idea, I just think they put it on the backburner or are trying to find a more creative solution.

  • I don't think that's a good idea, but I like the idea of rewarding people to use something different than the meta. I think BHVR could give a bloodpoint bonus to players that use lesser used perks. They can have a separate tab that shows perk use in colored tiers (just so they don't have to disclose any specific numbers) and each color would give a different bonus multiplier. Easy.

  • It's not qualified right now, but it could be. All you have to do is remove as much chance of RNG as possible. Every team has the same loadout and uses the same killer, with the same map, same totem location, etc. It might be boring, but this is how you gauge the team's skill because everyone has the same thing to work with. And of course, make it VERY obvious that it's NOT a killer vs survivor event , but a team vs team game judged by points.

  • The pip bug should be fixed, but the difficulty in getting to rank 1 shouldn't be. Getting to red ranks is very doable and a lot easier with SWF. I would like the rank 1 status to only apply to survivors that reached it via solo queue only, then limit SWF rank to 4 or 3.

Something similar can be done with killer ranks too so that yeah, there are red ranks, but then there's rank 1 with a crown and bloody gems surrounding it.

Then link it the account to our forum account so we can prove our rank oneness.

  • In case you were curious, I saved Elodie to level up for the event. She went from P2-50 to P3-50 with all perks and ended up with 42 firecrackers, 25 toolboxes, 2 third year party starters, and roughly 90 red envelopes (which were the only event items I used while leveling up). I didn't go out of my way to get them but I did make detours to choose different perks if a toolbox was in the path-- especially when I realized toolboxes were harder to come by.

  • I think a good test would be to fix the desync problem while keeping the emblem bug the way it is and then see what happens.

It doesn't seem that challenging to get to red ranks (if you're decent enough) but to get to rank 1, will be difficult, as it should be. And yes, I've noticed better red rank players.

1 … 9 10 11 12 13 … 23
