I disagree, putting events in the rift is lazy. It takes away from the engagement of the event, as well as the pride of having earned the outfits from participating in the secondary objectives.
Using challenges in the archives is also lazy, event offerings are there for a reason. They are supposed to spawn the secondary objective, not just be the gateway for slightly more bloodpoints than usual.
I'm thinking that they're doing it this way now because the bottom line is that it's more cost-efficient. You call it lazy, I'll call it making do with what ya got. The Rift is here for the life of DBD and I can't see them doing this as well as scheduling events, releasing midchapter patches and DLCS all from working from home because of COVID (at least for now). #########, they hardly have enough time to finish DLCs and get them out without a bunch of bugs. Who knows, maybe they'll change things once the world gets back to normal and bring back some iteration of HB (even tho I was NOT a fan of it). In the meantime, I'll cut them some slack and push for something a little easier to implement but with more impact than what they did with the last event.
-
"Carry" probably isn't the right word to use for the combo, but it definitely makes games easier, overall. I put it up there with old Pop/Ruin Billy.
-
I have a different take on it. I paid once for the extra "dailies" and it's more than made up for the initial cost. Frankly, the cosmetics have always been too common for me to get all that excited about but I predicted this, going in.
-
Well it is a PvP game.

Basically events started to go to crap once the rifts where introduced. They started okay and then well just look at the blighted event in October lol wasnt any point to it.
Yeah, and I'm ok with that as long as they can make events within the Rift and have the challenges follow some type of theme and the rewards have some impact.

Do we feel that he's good? Does he need a buff? A nerf?
Or do you think he just needs more Ketamine?
Blight's power is fine. His POV isn't tho, and it makes me wonder how much better he'll be once that gets fixed.

You don't need addons with him. He's very good just default all the way to Rank 1. Although that's not saying much with the skill of some survivors these days. :|
-
Flip Flop and Power Struggle wasn't bugged for me. It's the only way I was able to get the Rescue Mission achievement because the survivors I played with didn't know how to crawl to a pallet even though they'd be 5 feet from it.
And after playing with with the combo for 2 days, I have to say it's strong but utterly stupid to use as solo survivor unless you want to sandbag your team. Yes I got it to work obviously, but I'd rather use something else that I can get use out of every game rather than 1 out of 7 games. It did create a couple wow moments where I would escape and once with a sliver of time left on the EGC, but that was out of 50 games. Not worth it. Maybe with Unbreakable and DS or Tenacity for memes. Because when I did pull it off, I chuckled a lot.
Power Struggle by itself isn't good.
-
P3 is more about saying you have all characters P3 than getting them for the skins. Don't you know this by now.. MAN?
-
Too late. I'll always buy on day one because the issues this game has is deeper than this release and I know the ######### will get fixed eventually, at least the really bad stuff.
The day I reach the tipping point isn't the day I refuse to pay for a DLC, it's the day I quit for good. Not there yet.

Its not about lacking skill, its about lacking motivation to pursue those ranks because the opponents become more disrespectful, and the game becomes less fun.
Also Im not sure if, "theres no point, its easy, just play more" is motivating lol.
Well that's kind of what I mean. If you play enough, you'll get to high ranks whether you like it or not and this is especially true the more you play. You don't need to pursue it. This is why I was saying they should make it hard to get there because if you're not good, or don't try, or don't want to pursue it, you won't get to high ranks. As it is now, you will, pretty easily.
We'll see what they do with the MMR system they're working on.
-
There is no point. The more you play, the faster you will get to high ranks. It doesn't take a lot of skill to get there in this game. You can get there faster if you do have skill, but if you don't, just play a lot.
If anything, BHVR should make it extremely difficult to get to red ranks, but it might not be a game for "everyone" then, and I don't think that's the direction they want to go.
As far as the BM, this is a topic I keep seeing. Maybe they'll do something about it considering they asked about toxicity a few times already in surveys.
-
Considering I'm chasing people around with a big ass weapon trying to kill them, I don't consider anything ingame, toxic. It's only endgame chat that can get bad with all the racist and off-yourself bullshit. If BHVR were to do anything, they should give people the *option* to turn off chat permanently... and maybe hard-defining "Unsportsmanlike" as something reportable because I've already heard it several times from dev streamers that the ingame behavior that pisses you off is not something bannable.

It is an issue, if I come to play and it's a waste of time. I don't give a ######### about pips. All I care about is the BP and "fun", and to go AFK on purpose, and especially with insidious or as wraith hiding somewhere is a real selfish move and I report every damn time I come across them.
I think the BEST thing to do is to give players the points or shards of the person that is AFK or at the very least remove the ability to earn experience while being AFK. That would fix it for the most part.

They are not lying. This is a killer forum so you find people with more than 4.000 hours playing rank 20 surv once a week against perk less rank 20,trappers
10-15% should be the escape rate for solos, but this don”t bother devs
It would actually be nice for this forum to have your account linked to your ingame stats and platform, just so we know where you're coming from.

That is fair! I don't play very safe either, however I don't have the looping skills to back it up.
It's a little trickier these days too because a lot of loops have lengthened or shortened by just enough to make it unpredictable and unsafe, especially if you take it too wide or there's a small obstacle in the way. It's better to be safe if you're unsure. Just don't waste a lot and try to leave something for your mates if they need it. Sometimes I'd rather go down than waste a strong pallet.
-
50% all the way to 1. I almost always prioritize WGLF stacks and play pretty aggressive. It doesn't matter what perks I use other than WGLF- the outcome is generally the same. Just know your tiles.
I would have a higher survival rate if I play more safe, but I would have quit this game a long time ago if I did.

BHVR never firmly disapproved it because it was approved by them a few years ago when Freestyle made filters available for DBD. They don't consider it an exploit and have posted about it in the past.
-
This is definitely not new but yeah, a lot more popular lately for some reason. I don't know about calling it toxic though. That's a weird term to call this. It's kind of funny when I do it, and then tbag my teammate, then they leave without healing, and then I chase after them or some other ridiculous #########. It makes some boring games memorable. I don't take this game that seriously.

Just lookup the site Bungie just managed to get to stop selling cheats for their game Destiny 2 and search for this game on that said site. Wallhack, speedhack etc. it's all right there but people still keep saying there are no cheaters in DBD. Also I guess most of those individuals aren't stupid enough to make it plain obvious they are cheating. Add 2-4% more speed, perma aura reading, immediately fully heal up after losing the killer etc. so they don't get caught. Only way to get rid of this would be if BHVR would do the same as Bungie and sue those websites that sell those cheats.
I've never heard a longtime player say there were no cheaters in DBD. It happens. It's just extremely rare.
-
PC player.
Knowing how to loop in this game is mostly what dictates the outcome though. It boggles me how many survivors go down in 10 seconds because they don't know what to do after they get hit. I expect most red ranks to know what to do, but that's not the case these days.
As survivor I find it unfun when I get matched up with lower rank players that don't know when or how to apply pressure, know when to save, or know how to stay alive when caught.
As killer I find it unfun when I destroy survivors 9/10 games with my top 3, or when I get destroyed trying a wacky build or a new killer against a competent team.

Will be tough adding a secondary objective when a lot of survivors dont know how to do the first.
Hahaha. So true. I still say that the challenges are the secondary objectives. Adding more will make it into a *blank* show.

Plague is a good killer. The only reason why I stopped playing her was because her BP gain was lower than average, unless you're willing to stretch out your game. It wasn't because she's weak.

Pig has a cult following of very dedicated and very good players. Thoses Pig mains who consistently play her at red ranks are really good. I wonder what the Pig stats are when you look at all ranks ?
BHVR mentioned this in their stream. Pig's kill rate is 62.09% across all ranks and 73.11% at red ranks.
-
I mainly want more bloodpoints. The pustulas are ok, but very underwhelming unless there's at least 3 of them. I'd go for some kind of multiplier that goes up every day you log in or a reward that you can only get if you log in and play every day of the event. It can be cosmetic or BP.
I can also see that the Rift has taken priority over events with different mechanics, so in that case I would like to see a lot more event-themed challenges than the few they had this time.
I'm not totally disappointed in the event like others here, but I'm not excited over it either, and that's what I was hoping for-- hype.

A lot of us are thinking it, I'm gonna come out and say it. The game shouldn't have come out on console if they weren't going to put in the effort to work as good as it does on PC.
I think BHVR underestimated how hard it would be to balance optimizations between all platforms. I play on PC and I only have a 1060. The video card does well enough for frame rates in general, but sometimes the fans go nuts and I'll get some stuttering. I know console can be a lot worse and if BHVR had the resources, I wish they would have separate teams for consoles and PCs for optimizing *as well as* balancing. But I doubt that will ever happen considering how much time they spent on crossplay.
-
It looks plastic to me. I wish there was something to make it moody, like more fog, or swaying branches. Make it spooky. I have a feeling if they did that, it would tank performance on some systems tho.

For the record, that's not smurfing. Intentionally deranking is just deranking. Smurfing is using an alt-account for whatever reason, including noob-stomping, trolling, and stalking.
-
I know people are talking about how this doesn't matter because of variables and what not, but at the very least people should see these numbers as ones that BHVR has to balance around when dealing with the different levels and styles of play.
-
It's cool that they numbered the rooms and made those callouts the way they did. They did well.
I actually watched this while sal gu was streaming it and I was really curious how that gearhead match was going to play out. I think it was smart of him to switch it back to Pop with the next Doctor game. :D
Thanks for posting. I knew of Maze, but not the others.
-
This comes up so much that BHVR should consider having a message pop up saying something about it in the end screen. It could even be something vague like how the entity wasn't entertained enough.
-
I don't know how it breaks down ingame but I notice that older people tend to complain the most. :)

But...they didn't make it easier; some challenges literally take a minimum of 5 games to complete even if you don't mess up and award only 3 fragments. They should all reward 5.
The challenges for me were made easier. They just take time to do. I'd rather do mundane tasks over a period of an hour or two than do an all-or-nothing challenge that can take all night or longer (depending on RNG and whatnot). That actually happened to me too and that's why when the survey came out asking what I preferred, I voted the way I did.. and apparently others felt the same way because BHVR changed it. I frankly don't care how many fragments they give. I'm talking about finishing the challenge at a "calculable" pace, not the reward.
-
I think they changed it to be more grindy because of the survey they had some months back. People were pissed about doing challenges that took some crazy amount of tries to complete so they made it easier, but the tradeoff is that you need to play a certain amount to finish it.
I know I voted that way since I like grinding ######### out anyway, so as far as them not listening.. I dunno about that.
-
You'll probably see this the more you play against people with high ping. You have up to 200 and she has 140. That's not a good matchup.

I'm guessing a skin but what would really be nice is a BP % boost based on how many characters you have prestiged.
Really though, I don't give a ######### what they give. Anything is better than nothing.

Yeah, I know it protects other hexes. It's that H:U goes a long way in getting survivors to cleanse totems now and with hexes like Ruin, it's wise to do them early. I also know that a dev said that something similar to the EGC is coming for early game, and I think it was the same stream they announced crossplay. So, I thought this might be it, or part of it. Like I said, I might have missed the memo so I don't know if it's been stated as fact or not.
-
It depends for me. If I play during prime-time, rank 1 gets me a good mix. Maybe 1 out of 5 or 6 games I'll get a full PC lobby. In off-hours, rank doesn't matter because survivors range from yellow to red, most of them being console with a solo/duo PC player(s) here and there.
-
If you queue up in the off-hours, you're going to get a bunch of different ranks in the mix. It's not even funny. Play killer- games are trivial atm, if you're used to playing against rank 1s.

One, they didn't know I didn't have NOED, I downed the Dwight before they popped last gen. And secondly, this is my first time in a while not being rank one. Before crossplay I was rank one for half a year. So you can drop your petty, "they weren't a SWF you're just #########" because if I had chat I garentee if I asked if they were a SWF they would've said yes.
What I said wasn't petty. You inferring I said it that way to make fun of you isn't my problem. I'm saying that any of that could happen with a good survivor squad-- they don't have to be SWF.
I don't know what to say about you dropping from rank 1 to 7.
And don't go picking one thing I said about not having NOED as the whole message, because it wasn't. You can, but c'mon... Please dude.
If you want to say that SWF is OP, fine. I'm not gonna argue you, but I'm saying that good survivors can play it like this, and they do it ALL the time given the right opportunity. Sometimes they fail, sometimes they win. This time, they won.
-

Yes, like you said I can't be sure if they were or weren't a SWF but I feel that when they tried to head on me two different times with two different people and two people entered the basement at the same time shows that they were at least a three man SWF.
That can be done with any group of solo survivors at high rank. If good survivors know that you have no basement pressure, no NOED, haven't been hooked prior, have DS, and most importantly, they feel that you're not top tier, they will harass you. What you described does not mean it's at least a 3-man SWF; this is top tier survivor gameplay and they don't have to be in a SWF to do it. Maybe you don't experience this on console or maybe you don't regularly go against rank 1s, but this type of gameplay happens all the time on PC in similar scenarios. You learn from it, and maybe down the road you'll get 1 or 2 kills from their failed head on attempt.
-
I don't know if these guys were truly SWF or not, but to pull off what you said can be done by just good players that clocked in thousands of hours and have good game awareness. I play solo most times and when I was doing this stun challenge, I didn't say anything to the others in the lobby. Luckily my teammates knew what I was doing and ran the killer by multiple times. Also, harassing a camping killer to unhook is standard play in high ranks, at least in games where survivors know what they're doing. Again, this can be done in solo queue. And to be honest, a lot of the best action comes from the chaos in getting the unhook.
Gen speeds. I don't know, wasn't there to see what you saw, but if you go back and watch the streamer's VOD, you might learn a lot.
It doesn't help that you were going against 1s and not purple ranks. These may have been true rank 1s.

Yeah i know. I just wanted to point out that the way he's doing this challenge can circumvent ends to the streak by always changing killer which lesses the chances he'll get hit with a strong team on that specific "streak".
Yup. I hear that.
-
@Momentosis said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1575665#Comment_1575665
Yeah the roulette style he's doing for these win streaks aren't legit cause changing killers constantly means you lessen your chances of breaking a win streak against these stronger teams.
Can't lose your win streak on one killer if you're constantly changing killers!
And there are teams where he gets absolutely destroyed against I've watched during this stream and if he was trying to do 50 straight games of Hag/Legion he wouldn't have these win streaks I'm sure.
The point I'm trying to make is that the number of wins, overall, matter. The streak doesn't. I'm just curious about the number of death squads he's facing. 5 out of 10 games? 8 out of 10? 1 out of 10?
-
I don't care too much about 50 wins in a row. I'd like to know how many times he faces the death squads out of all those wins.. the ones people HERE have trouble with. I have no doubt that if he went against them, he would lose. At the same time, how many does he actually face? I want to know that number after all is said and done. I hope he's keeping tally because then the numbers would reflect wins under real conditions... as real as someone is willing document with video proof, at least.
-
BHVR has a hard enough time juggling the strengths of perks. I can't see it going well by adding even more to the big mix. I think a bloodpoint bonus would be fine per prestige, but not an increase to game mechanic percentages. Someone will find the best combo and then a new meta is born. No thanks.
And even with just bloodpoints, you're going to get a lot of complaining by those that didn't choose to prestige from the getgo.
