  • You don't need any particular build to make it unfun, just slug and let them bleed out. That's all.

  • The more time goes on, I'm liking the bug. I still think it's not hard to get to red ranks, but it might mean something to say you're rank 1 now, especially if they drop rank reset down to 10 or even 15 again. Fix the hitboxes, and maybe add a fun reward for rank 1 status, and the good players might find it challenging enough to come back.

  • I hope someone puts together a montage of the animation now before it gets changed because watching 4 injured Bills running around or an injured urban evading Nea looks really damn funny.

  • I'm fine with 4 DLC per year. Any less, and I would lose interest in playing which would most likely lead to me dropping DBD from my gaming rotation. The way this game is, there is not enough content in 1 DLC to make it last 6 months.

The only thing I would like is for them to adjust the bloodweb or perk tiers so that the bloodpoint grind isn't so bad for new players.

That is what he's thinking of lol. If you have limited play time you cant do the rift unless you buy tiers

And it is always around 200 hours, number 1 dev simp and dbd saint Paulie esther put outs the amount of time it takes him to do each rift and i have never seen an excitement even close to under 100 hours. Its funny to me people get so mad over this when i like never see an AFK killer, i think people are just bothered by the general lack of killers but don't want to confront that problem

That's a whole different argument. I'm saying that this game has two sides and the only way people like me get any fun out of it is to play against other people, the other side. I don't care if people feel that they need to complete the rift so badly that they have to exploit a system to do it, and if this were a single player game-- go right ahead. Just don't pull me into a non-game where the rules are to go AFK because that's a ######### waste of my time.

  • I slipped down a little, but I started playing a little more selfish and now bounce between 2 and 1. I think the slip was because most everyone was doing the challenges so didn't care about dying as much. I know I didn't.

  • It's cheating the system into giving you something you didn't earn. There should never be an exploitable system in place like that, in a MP game where one side is reliant on the other to have fun and earn points the way it was meant. I'm sure XP rift gain while AFK was an oversight, and even if it weren't, it's against the rules of the game to AFK on purpose.

I think the OP should consider people who may be limited in playtime instead of thinking selfishly.

  • As survivor, the cool thing about DS is that it gives an extra layer of thought behind making plays. There's been a ton of times I did some funny ######### that would have otherwise been just a regular forgettable game. OoO was fun in that it would get me into more 1on1s early on and get me chase interaction.. and tunneled out a lot too.

As killer, I know the bs surrounding them so I'm good with the changes.

  • I see this purely as a solo queue "buff" so that it will tell oblivious teammates to take a hook state as a buffer to get to EGC. I don't care if I can't see it as killer. I will tunnel when I have to anyway, and I usually do a good job keeping track of that #########.

Frankly I am not a fan of all the auras and visual/sound cues and would prefer less of it in game, but if it helps with solo queue QOL then fine- it won't break the game. At least it will take the flame off the killer and put it on the more selfish survivors that don't want to take aggro.

BHVR's response on this makes perfect sense to me.

  • This is why I occasionally bring up the surveys and what their thoughts are on the questions they've asked. Toxicity has been brought up in at least one survey.

For the record, ######### talking does not bother me at all. Tbagging, pointing, flashlight clicking. Nope. I've played against worse in real life so this is nothing. However, I can see how the ######### talking can get out of hand in endgame chat and I truly believe that this as well as a combination of the above can make people not want to play the killer role.. which they have also brought up in surveys ("Would you be willing to switch roles if queue times are long, and will BP help with switching sides" -- or something like that). There has to be some kind of link.

So, BHVR knows DBD has a reputation of being "toxic". Are there any plans to do anything? I think one way or another they should address it. They asked about it-- might as well tell us what they think about it too.

  • Playing for the endgame is usually where most of the action happens when games go quick. When it's really fast for them then yeah, most killers will want to secure at least 1 kill, by any means. You can't fault them for that, especially when it's their role.

As far as NOED, it's not supposed to guarantee a 4k. Survivors guarantee that when they play it out incorrectly. That's where the fun is in these types of games.. at least for me.

  • You'd be surprised at what a killer can see that a survivor can't. A dim scratch mark, a fleeing or returning crow, survivor b's foot 10 seconds before the killer downs survivor a. Then you tack on pathing prediction and good hunches and you've got a lot of people calling people hackers when it really is someone having more and better game awareness than they're used to. I've been called out well over a dozen times for my shenanigans. It's great.

I don't doubt that hackers exist. I've seen a few, but I'm betting that the amount of true hackers compared to the hacks people think they see is really ######### low.

  • This game has a limited amount of fun it can give out. For some people, it's 50 hours, for others it's 500. For the diehard, it's 5000. You get the point, there's a number for everyone, and it sounds like it came up for you. Just because you invested a lot of hours and money into the game, it doesn't mean you're bound to it for life, unless it's your job-- and even then, you can always take a vacation from it.

  • It would help if you showed 7 consecutive endgame screenshots for credibility's sake. I get yellow ranks in my lobbies too sometimes, but not all of them, and not 7 in a row either. Or maybe you just got hit with some wonky RNG.

  • DBD could be long gone, but a picture of a camping Bubba will always get a laugh out of me.

  • Like have a beast or beasts available as AI. Or maybe control the crows to give information to the killer and have them follow the obsession and give that animal the terror radius? I can see them making something out of that. Maybe that might even get them to build a decent AI for DCs.

  • It's not easy to lay out a strategy to counter that. It all depends on the situation, but I can say this with certainty- if you get into a lobby with 4 survivors that are split and at least two know how to run loops and link tiles and you just happen to choose those two, you're not winning. You won't even come close, and this is especially true if you're going against survivors that have 7k hours. They can all have 0 perks and still escape.

You have to be ok with this if you plan on playing a long time, because this does happen sometimes. Otherwise it's going to be a frustrating path for you. That said, it is still possible to do better than others the more you fine tune your M2, improve on your situational awareness & game sense, learn your tiles, etc. But just keep in mind that there are games that you won't even come close to breaking even because the RNG gods are against you.

I say find a killer that you like and play them for a few hundred hours and get as good as you can with them. Don't choose Freddy- his basekit is too strong and you won't learn. Billy is ok, (even after the nerf) and if you can get good with him, then playing other killers will be a lot easier. Find a streamer that plays a killer you like and try not to get too invested in their complaints. :) Bronx used to have a good Billy but I think he mostly plays Demo now. Oh Tofu has a good Billy but I don't think he plays him that much anymore either. Sal gu is a Korean streamer that plays Billy and they usually play for the endgame there. Check him out if you want to see how he deals with it.

Yeah. DBD is having the same issue as WoW: the developers not decided on WHO to make the game for. Like, right now (interference from covid not withstanding) it feels like every idea is thrown at the wall and no one waits what sticks.

The recent HuD update? A mess. Does it matter WHAT big features they are planning that require it? No, because we neither know what these features will be nor when they'll come. We are given a car without wheels and are told to drive because the wheels they are working on will be great.

The original Killers might looked messy, but there IS a certain rhyme and reason to it. While the licensed ones are... shooting BHVR's own foot with a shotgun. Licenses cost money, and I am not certain they actually attract enough paying customers to justify it. So it results in lots of nonsense pay-to-whatever bits and pieces that the game wouldn't need in this amount if it weren't for the licensed characters.

Then there's the recent changes to the lore with this entity cult etc, which still comes across as failing at 'less is more' and failing at it hard.

The community, which rarely agrees on stuff, agress that we urgently need several health patches AND a break from new killers, survs and perks until the landslide the current perk pool is has been cleaned up.

The devs don't seem to agree.

"The community, which rarely agrees on stuff, agress that we urgently need several health patches AND a break from new killers, survs and perks until the landslide the current perk pool is has been cleaned up."

I don't think this part is true, at least not for the silent DBD playerbase-- those away from the forums. I think they believe this game is mostly fine-- not in fantastic shape, but good enough that they're willing to put up with some of the silly stuff as long as they get fresh content and see that the really bad bugs get fixed.

"The devs don't seem to agree."

This is because there is no solid evidence that shows massive amounts of people leaving because of the current state of the game. When people leave, it's mostly because they're burnt out after playing for hundreds if not thousands of hours or want to try something different. And a lot of them usually return with the new content. That's my hunch at least, based on steamcharts.

  • Being chased as the obsession shows that the killer is tied up. That's about it. I don't think it really should do more than that because it would just get too confusing.

However, I do think an obsession should be in every game regardless of perks just to give the killer pause, for DS.

  • The only thing that could keep this game scary are jump scares. I'd like more of that implemented and it's talked about here when "hardmode" comes up. No terror radius, no scratch marks, no auras-- just no indicators, period.

If not, I'd like a map where there are sections of it (or rooms) that are in black & white, or have no audio, or be in total darkness with no terror radius and the killer slowly comes into view within 10 meters, or maybe an area that's dark but lights flicker every few seconds so you can see your surroundings during those milliseconds. You get the picture.

However you know there's going to be some type of complaint about inaccessibility if anything like that goes live, so I doubt it will happen. Unfortunately.

  • If they're like me, they have hundreds of pink and purple keys. They're using up their stock before the change. The same thing happened last year with the toolbox nerf. Every game had at least 3 toolboxes. I doubt this bloodpoint event has anything to do with it.

I think a while back they did mention some random results from one of the surveys in a dev stream. But they sadly didn’t continue with it.

would also like to see some of the results and what they actually use that for!

Yeah, this is what I mean. Like, just recently they asked if people were willing to receive a BP bonus to switch sides and how much would it take.. I think if the queues got too long.

What happened with that idea? Are they going to implement it? Were people interested? I know I sure as hell was. I'd like to know where they stand and their intent, with the questions they're asking.

  • @Deadeye said:

I would also like to get feedback about the surveys. The percentages how many people voted dislike or like on certain features. Some of the stuff is pretty surprising. Tofu did a poll during is stream to ask about the new PTB animations and it was almost a 50:50 result, while you would think, regarding the negative yellout, that more like 90% are disliking the new animations.

And having results like that handed out from BHVR would help understand why certain decisions are made and most likely also help with the rumor that they "are not listening" to the community.

And just another feedback on surveys: somehow several questions seem strange. Like asking the same question twice, once positive once negative wording. Which for me kinda makes it clear that if you picked "5" on the first question, then you put "1" on the second. Or the question about horror types and which you like, then asking which one you like most. Like, the one that I rated highest? And if 2 got the same rating, can't you just take the one that got most votes on average?

Psychologists do the same thing with personality tests. I think it's kind of funny considering it's from a company called BHVR. :)

Transparency is a good idea. Knowing what's happening before time (except when It comes to stuff like moris is which case it makes sense) is nice to know. Knowing what is done with the feedback is also nice to know. I'd be less frustrated I bet if they gave us a rundown on everything that they are working on (reasonably with some of the exceptions like moris again) would help us soothe our nerve. Especially if they told us progress with ongoing nerfs/changes it would be great (like they told us about a keys Nerf, knowing how it's coming along woild be nice)

Yeah. I think a lot of frustrations can be quelled a bit by having the community managers talk openly about some things, even if it's bad news. It's still something. I would love some type of regular posting that talks about "hot topics".

  • I'm not looking for answers from the community. I'd like one of the community managers to talk about it.

They can allot some time in one of their streams to address at least a few of the answers. Not everything has to be secret.

  • How about a token system. If you want to play in a SWF, you have to play a killer game to earn a token (or tokens), then use a token to get into a group with your friend. AFK/DC games don't count for/against the system. People that play both sides shouldn't have an issue with this and for those that absolutely do not like playing killer-- their friend can spot them. It would need some tweaking so people couldn't abuse it of course.

I'm all for people playing both sides, and I think those players should be rewarded for doing so. Those tokens could even apply for solo-queue and also be redeemed for xxxxx if BHVR wanted to do something cool.

  • I'd like to see it in action with a good survivor. Looks interesting.

  • I asked this when Hex: Undying was released because it seemed to do just that, which was a bad idea if this was their intention because it requires you to own it first. And now that more people are using it, there was mention that it might need looking at. So, if they were considering using perks for an early game stall, they can't be too strong, and I really don't think it's the way to go either.

I'd rather them do things to make stimulating gameplay, like designing more engaging challenges and dailies. The foundation is already there to stall out the game. The added bloodpoints wouldn't hurt either.

Because it doesn't count. Still the majority of the DbD community are complaining and have been complaining for years but we've yet to see a real actual rework. Also, you gotta chill.

What do you mean it doesn't count? It does because it fixed the problem *at that time*. Huh?

Fast forward a couple more years and we have another problem which they have already suggested that they're aware of... due to consumer complaints. It's just a matter of time before they fix it again.

Also, I'm never unchill on this forum. That was a nudge to read the question instead of complaining just to complain. I wouldn't even be responding to you if the post was asking for your opinion about the bloodweb, but it's not.

That doesn’t mean it’s not bad anymore. The grind still is pretty bad and the bloodweb still needs a rework.

Who said it wasn't bad anymore and that it doesn't need a rework. They reworked it twice already because of complaints. Didn't you read what the topic was about? Jesus.

  • All the time: map sizes and tiles, perk nerfs and buffs, killer changes, Rift changes, bloodweb grind and daily reward changes... Yes, they listen to requests. They also have to listen to both sides as well decide what direction they want to go so it might not be exactly what you want, but it might be too. It all depends.

it was, but something is up with flashlights since the newest update. You can be looking up, facing a wall, etc.... it's still going off sometimes.

Yeah, I noticed that lately it seems a little different, but I just put that up to M&A that I've been messing around with on some of my killers. I'll try to pay attention to it next time.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I could care less; if people would stop being toxic as hell, or unnecessarily chain stunning killers with flashlights and bullying them because they know they can- I would be happy.

Console or PC, both games have some seriously toxic behaviour in game, but at least console players can't stir up trouble in post game chat.

Is it different on console to break chain blinds? On PC, it's as easy as looking up. The only time I get blinded at all these days is at a pallet, or every once in a blue moon and I'm not paying attention, someone will get a locker save.

  • @magicmaster2020 said:

Honestly part of it is because pc is used to playing against each other, so they just assume anyone who plays differently is console. Each platform has a different meta. In my experience xbox is more likely to bring self-care and less likely to do totems. That's not saying that is everyone, but that's my main experience. When I play with a squad like once a week(we're all on different platforms) playstation killers seem to be more toxic in the tunneling camping department, but that's my experience. Everyone's experience is different.

This is what I realized what's most important with the console survivor meta kit- teabagging. Happened before crossplay too, but not nearly as often in my PC experience. They even do it when I'm nowhere close, like at the exit gate and the only reason why I even noticed it was because of Blood Warden and the EGC challenge.

It's also no surprise that I saw a big increase in moris when CP went live. It's pretty funny how it works out that way.

I'm talking when the game first came out. When stacking exhaustion perks were a thing, infinites, syringes, BNPs and stuff. It wasn't fun for killer in those days. They call them the dark times for a reason.

Oh come on dude, that was 4 years ago. Yeah I was there and it was ######### against survivors that exploited the problems. Still here tho and that's why I know it's gotten a lot better. They fixed all that #########.

I don't understand what that has to do with the scratch mark problem, because the only reason why I brought up "back then" in the first place is because there was a bug (or purposely introduced) around 2018 that made it harder to track the scratch marks. I can't even remember if it was fixed/changed and I got used to it.

  • I definitely would not, unless they were to create some type of dynamically changing in-game content.

You can look at the Steam charts yourself and kind of follow the trends of spikes/drops in popularity during and after DLC releases. That should tell you a lot.

  • @EvilJoshy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1832951#Comment_1832951

Well killer's job is getting easier but many forget it was absolutely hell before. I still would not call killer easy. It's gotten better but I still think survivor is easier. Unless playing with randoms, then it sucks.

Well, I wouldn't call it hell to play before. Maybe hella fun. I put in the bulk of my hours before 2018 with 1k in Billy alone, and I was averaging 3+k back then too. This was when I was slugging everyone to ######### and getting my 500 consecutive kill streak with him. Those were fun times. If I considered it hell, I would've quit a long time ago.

And I don't know why you brought up survivor. To me they're different games. I was talking about how devs made changes to make playing killer easier, because you insinuated that devs don't try to make that part of the game better-- and I don't find that true at all.

  • @EvilJoshy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1832110#Comment_1832110

It's a bug that hinders killer so they won't touch it until there's a killer shortage. I'm still waiting for them to fix the bugs introduced to Nurse since her rework.

It definitely hinders killers, but it still doesn't stop me from getting my 3+ kill average. Maybe it was too easy to track so they fixed it, or maybe they introduced new geometry to the map to cause it. One thing for sure- I definitely don't take a stance that devs don't look out for killers because, overall, they have made the killer role a LOT easier since then.

  • It would be nice if they brought back how scratch marks were from a couple years ago. They broke somehow after a patch and it's never been the same since. At least I thought they broke, but maybe it was done on purpose. :}

  • This can happen in virtually any map if survivors spawn separated and their task goes uninterrupted. Goes even faster if they have toolboxes.

  • If it's a wraith or any killer facing a wall, I report them every time. Do console players even have an option to report?

  • Atychiphobia sounds like a condition a lot of DBD players have.

  • Yeah, you need to redo those numbers. I get to level 40 in a little over a million and to 50 in about 1.5.

It's still a lot to grind and I'm hoping they do something for the new players so they don't feel overwhelmed.

  • @Dipsit said:

Hi this is my first post so I'm not sure if I'm doing this right (sorry) Anyway I just played a match where two Claudettes picked Lampkin Lane and brought a key (I wasn't paying attention in lobby) the match goes on till 2 gens and the claudettes are left. Hatch spawned between a 3 gen so I figured I won. They hid for a good 5 to 10 minutes then when I finally found them they jumped in hatch. They claimed I was babysitting hatch but I left the area multiple times to check on a gen at the end of the street. I have a lot of gripes with this games mechanics, but I can work with keys, moris, map offerings, toxicity, etc. But this is just a waste of time and boring. This reminds me of old DBD without the end game collapse where survivors would just tbag and wait at gates to waste the killers time instead of ending the game. Anybody else have to deal with this?

    TL;DR

Had survivors hide by hatch with key just to waste my time.

It would be cool if BHVR implemented a *DECAY TIMER* on keys once the hatch spawned.

  • There was a survey not too long ago that asked if people were willing to switch sides for blood points and if so, by how much. I really wish BHVR would be more open with these surveys and talk about the results more. I'm curious to know how people voted.

  • @coppersly said:

Do you think there will come a day when you boot up DbD and don't face a toxic squad within 2 games? Where you might actually want to play it for more than 5 minutes a month?

    I seriously doubt it.

What do you consider toxic? The only toxic games I get are the ones that I end up having to report for racist or ######### ######### and that doesn't happen every 2 games.

  • The first time I walked through one of the new Autohaven maps, I thought it gave off a creepy vibe and I initially liked it-- then I played it a few times. Maybe I'm colorblind and never knew it but sometimes I can't see #########. It's like I'm looking through a 1970s filter with a green tint.

I've gotten used to it somewhat but I'd still like them to adjust it. I guess there goes my idea of a black and white map.

1 … 10 11 12 13 14 … 23
