I mean there was never any reward for skill in dbd or a way to show your level. I really dont know why they dont do it. There are many games out there which have something for casuals and for competitive players at the same time.

I'm hoping what they're doing with MMR will help them make out some type of leaderboard. I asked this on one of their dev streams a few years ago but they weren't ready for it yet. Maybe now? I don't think this would affect casuals too much unless they try to win all the time with the best perks and items.

They have no correlation with mmr or matchmaking, just the amount of games you played this month, a new player can get to the highest one if he plays enough.

Well if this doesn't tell people that BHVR wants this to be a casual game, I don't know what will. Thanks for the info.

No, this are grades. Grades are an easier version of the old emblem system. So they just show your playtime in the month. The devs said that in their blogpost about the MMR.

So no real bragging rights? That sucks.

There will be no rank. You will have absolutely no idea what your rating is.

There are new colors with numbers in the icons. I don't remember what meant what but there was some type of ranking in the PTB.

I did think about that, which is why it would only appear intermittently. Part of the game is obtaining the skills required to finish generators. Lower skilled survivors will make more mistakes absolutely, but lower skilled killers will have a better time learning the game too since they will get a better understanding of the movement of survivors.

When a gen blows up, people get scared and run away, most times in my games. but If in Low tier games the gens are blowing up, this gives the survivors the choice to stick to it to learn the skill checks and give baby killers the chance to find survivors and gather more information.

You aren't wrong about it being harder for newer players but, with skill based match making coming soon, weak survivors against weak killers should have a relatively balanced learning curve for both teams (Survivor/ Killer)

I still don't think it's a good idea. It's one of the reasons why old Ruin was changed to what it is now- new survivors couldn't deal with the Ruin skill check. I think this is near the same difficulty and at the very least it would make games last too long for too little reward at that level.

And I don't think new killers are weak against new survivors. They're probably OP. Of course that switches after a ton of hours but that's besides the point.

Still, I can see this happening in the future. They put the mechanic in the game.. might as well utilize it somehow, even if at a slower speed.

  • I doubt new players would be able to handle this.

  • @DelsKibara said:

That's one of my biggest hopes with MMR coming into the game.

So they see which killers aren't performing well on certain MMR ratings and buff them accordingly.

Admittedly I have some sick fantasy of seeing Trapper throw his traps at Survivors to incapacitate them, so I hope they go that direction to buffing him :P

They can do this now with all the data they have. They're still going to have the problem of buffing them for high-tier play while making it fair for low-tier. I doubt it's going to be the fix people are hoping for.

I think matchmaking is going to be as simple as putting a weak killer like Clown in a lobby that isn't filled with great survivors unless you happen to do very well with him and use pinky finger all the time. This is why they disabled killer switching in lobbies-- so you can get purple rank survivors for your red rank killer skillset and not break the system.

  • I will. Maybe it will make it worthy to brag about rank 1 now.. or whatever the highest rank will be.

  • I support the game because I enjoy it. I really don't care what BHVR says they're going to do because to me it's all some sort of lip service anyway and I've known this even before BHVR existed-- since all gaming companies I've been involved with have done this. So, I just take any game for what it's worth, play it and it just so happened that this turned out to land in my top 10 favorite multiplayer games of all time.

Once I start to dislike a game, I don't ######### around for too long. I won't make a post about it and say I'll quit, I'll just quit.. and I'm not there yet. So until then, I'll be here supporting the game by playing and posting... and buying some stuff here and there.

  • Judging by all the posts on this forum, Steam, and Reddit, most DBD players, and I think it's high.. maybe 95%, have never played a competitive game at a high level to properly assess what is balanced and what isn't. Otherwise, all talks of balance should have been squashed after the first couple years (at least). This game is balanced for casual play, meanwhile a lot of players complain about things that don't really matter in the grand scheme of things. So to answer your question of how long it will take for people to realize that DBD cannot be balanced-- probably forever. Everyone likes to think they're experts and BHVR says just enough to let the playerbase argue amongst themselves which keeps interest alive. Team Survivor or Team Killer? I think it's a pretty smart move.

  • The only thing I want them to do with her is increase the BP you get from playing her as well as playing against her.

  • I don't think you can get as good as PC players and I only say that because I still haven't come across any console hillbillies or nurses that are as good as the PC killers I used to go against. Good, but not godly.

  • When I first started, I did it because it was funny. I liked roleplaying the ######### out of the killer role. I moved on, but I can see other people doing it too just for the sake of pleasing the entity. No hate or anything, they just do it for fun.

Yes. Im on PC and after every chapter since Blight came out the performance got worse and worse. its almost unplayable for me atm sometimes because of lags and freezes even though i have a decent rig.

It might be more of an issue with crossplay and/or BHVR's tweaking to their network code to fix desync that affects PCs more than anything.

I'm sure a lot of people who use/have used Head-On in public matches will tell you that it's practically impossible to pull it off in solo-queue. I was talking with my friend about this and they brought up a very smart idea of showing the locker's aura to every survivor in the trial, or at least within a certain radius. What do you guys think?

What do you mean impossible in solo-queue? I use Inner Strength or DS, Head On, Quick & Quiet, Flashbang all the time and I can get head on stuns no problem. Surviving the trial on the other hand is a different story but I have a lot of fun with this build so I don't really care.

I think the buff you're recommending is too strong. If they did do that, there would have to be a downside to it.

I would rather have the buff built into another survivor perk that others have to equip, like Bond or Kindred, Empathy if the locker survivor is injured, etc.

    sigh.

This is why hackers can get away with it... You are basically protecting them when you say things like this.

Dismissing all claims of hacking just assuming "the claimant must be a newbie" is not good.

We LITERALLY KNOW that hackers exist in the game. Whether BP hacking, or blatant hacks in-game, we all universally know this.

So to sit there and think that there are ONLY blatant hackers... that's just insanely naive. Think about it this way. What if YOU were a hacker? Would you fly around the map and one-tap gens? Or would you... say... give yourself +4% move speed? Or would you give yourself permanent mapwide player auras, and only act on it when you think your actions are hidden/safe?

    Stop being naive.

We ALREADY KNOW people DO hack. So why be a goober and say, "Yeah, people hack, just not in YOUR games, you're just a newbie."

We also ALREADY KNOW that LOTS of people WOULD hack if they COULD. And, since they can, here we are...

(Look at any game where hacking isn't punished. Big example is the one I already used, GTA Online. Every public game either already has hackers, or will within 30 minutes. Because, since they CAN, they WILL and DO.)

He's not protecting hackers, he's saying that people make mistakes all the time in thinking they're undetectable or that their opponent is not good. They could have also just guessed correctly. I've done that many, many times.

Hackers exist in this game, sure, but for people to say it happens all the time to them is something I just don't believe without proof. I've been accused, I've seen streamers accused, I've seen video evidence that didn't show anything extraordinary. If you say you've seen one, ok, but if you say it's common and that you come across them all the time, prove it.

  • I don't even think this is a bug. It sounds like a limitation of Unreal Engine and their scripting routines.

  • Not sure I would call that a grudge. I just try to kill everyone and most times I do. I don't get upset at it because to me it's just a taunt, and when I'm playing survivor, I do it too. So what.

The only times I ever held grudges is if people were really racist or said dumb ######### at end chat and I would usually remember those names-- and back 3-5 years ago, it was inevitable that you would go against the same people at rank 1, so it would almost never turn out well for them.

  • I'd like them to experiment with the idea on an upcoming map just to see what happens. It might even give them reason to buff Monstrous Shrine with a Blood Warden effect or something. At this point in DBD's life, almost anything different is welcome to me. They already threw RCPD my way. I doubt it can get worse than that.

  • Sprint Burst and it's not even close. It's the best exhaustion perk survivors have.

  • It has nothing to do with PC DBD specifically. You can do a lot of multitasking type of things in the background while DBD is running. It's in the nature of PC gaming. That's another reason why PC is MASTER RACE!

Of course you can do this with consoles and even Switch too. Just buy the hardware for it.

  • Sounds like you've had enough. Toxicity isn't going to stop and unless you can shut that out, then it will always be there to bring you down. I'd say to just turn off chat altogether but if you can't do that, then uninstalling is probably best for you.

Bloody cosmetics and a small chance at better drops. According to the DBD wiki at Prestige 3 it gives a 30% bonus chance to green rare

20% to purple very rare and a 10% chance bonus to red ultra rare. Honestly I didn't notice that much of a difference though.

It's not noticeable unless you paid attention to it. I made a spreadsheet and kept track of all the nodes and rarities in P0-P3 bloodwebs a few years ago and it was enough for me to P3 the characters I had already capped out on T3 perks at P0. The bloodweb is different now so I don't know if prestiging affects it as much, but regardless, there's so many new characters now I don't think it's worth it in 2021 unless BHVR decides to lessen the grind some.

  • There's two reasons that I can think of: one is that remodeling, redesigning, and retexturing an existing map can take just as long as creating a new map and that costs money. It's not difficult, it's costly.

The second is that BHVR might be able to regain the license and bring Hawkins back and trying to fake the funk of the original map will probably royally piss off the license owners. If I owned it, I know it would piss me off, enough to never do business with them again. So BHVR is just playing nice and not trying to rock any boat.

  • Borrowed Time

    Desperate Measures

    We'll Make It

We're Gonna Live Forever or Bond

  • She wouldn't be sleeping like that if she was hanging from a hook and Demodoggy was camping her face. It would be a cool animation tho to see her waving her legs to warn others.

  • Most of the time I put a one star, it's not because of the killer, it's because of my lame ass teammates.

  • I currently only use 2 charms- the pizza for Jane and the brass knuckles for everyone else. No killer charms. I use a few cosmetics.

I paid $10 for the first one and it's paid for itself ever since. I bought it to support the game, and to give me something to track in between DLCs. I don't care if the rewards for one tome sucks because it's free as far as I'm concerned.

And I think a lot of people do this.. and I'm thinking BHVR should query the fans more to see what they really want. Do more "community's choice" rewards to get more people engaged. That's always a good thing.

  • You don't get a penalty for DCing during the loading screen. I don't know about the others. Same as usual for me. And yes DC penalty is active.

The chat filter needs a toggle, im an adult, I don't mind seeing bad words and bhvr doesn't need to coddle me like some 10 year old who still giggles at someone saying vagina.

With all the different ways they allow you to stab, hack, and chainsaw people, in graphic detail, it's just backwards thinking to put such a sensitive chat filter in an adult game. I'm a big boy-- I can handle ######### talking.

In my opinion this is gamebreaking.

At the moment i really have 1 of 10 matches without a cheater....

You can detect higher movementspeed, cause the character moves like a Dug....

But i dont want to record each game i play in dbd. I dont want to checkout the gen speed each round...

There is more time i have to spend in reports than in playing. So i stopped reporting. It feels like nothing change.... :(

You're saying you have 9 out of 10 games with a cheater in it? Wow.

  • I'm guessing it depends on rank and time of day. As rank 1 killer, it was less than a minute a few hours ago. It's near instant as rank 2 survivor up until a couple minutes ago- 10:33 PM. Alternatively, it's several minutes with crossplay on.

You'll find some old names on there that you haven't seen in a while.

Technically, our current Bloodweb is already Bloodweb 2.0. Bloodweb 1.0 was so bad that they gave out Legacies on top of the bloody outfit, I think.

    That was in 2016.

And it's only been adding and removing stuff to the bloodweb since.

This was when the game only had 6 survivors (Laurie couldn't get Legacy but she was released around that time), and 5 killers (ditto for Shape), and 2 more tiers of map-offerings for Autohaven, Coldwind, Autohaven, Asylum, and Haddonfield, as well as the moonlight offerings. Bloody Party Streamers were a brown item, worth 3000, and bloodpoint boosting events were common (don't quote me on the events, but I feel they were a lot more common than they are now).

2 pages of perks at most, and some perks were even cheaper at t3 than they are now.

The overall price of bloodwebs feels to have gone way up because there are a lot less available brown/yellow items, and more green and purple items (BPS moving up to green, adding Unique Wedding Ring for keys, making map offerings only in green), and a LOT more perks and characters to use level through.

But onto your actual suggestion: Love the perk and item bloodweb being seperated. Love the lower cost for offerings and items, the upgrading system is cool, but I kinda like the iridescents, but I do think they should lower the frequency of them. I assume you mean Dull Key instead of Black Key (as it's Broken < Dull < Skeleton for rarities), I won't really comment on cause I don't use keys often nor do I care about them.

And finally: 2 suggestions I'd like to also add onto this

A Quick Buy for leveling purposes/just getting items after you get the few you wanted, and a clear Bloodweb button to wipe the current item bloodweb pool for a reduced price to help find the items you want without going through 80 webs for 2 copies of a map offering you want.

There have been 2 bloodweb changes before so this is the 3rd one. There was never multiple perks in the outer ring before but that changed a couple years ago.

  • That's a shame if they do hide it. At the very least, they should put in some type of leaderboard so people can flex if they want, and not have to rely on some outside source that gathers info from public Steam accounts.

Actually let me add that it's more than a shame. It's really ######### lame.

  • I remember these more than games I actually escape, especially if I was the cause. Genuinely makes me chuckle out loud.

  • I wouldn't mind it. Maybe with the info, they can make some kind of leaderboard. On the other hand, say goodbye to casual gameplay in red ranks if you want to get to rank 1, because if MMR works as intended, it will be a struggle to just get 2 kills and that's with good addons.

  • +another for the grind. If there were no tiers, people wouldn't play this game as much. I think it's too much as it is now, but without perk tiers, it wouldn't be enough to keep me interested. I'd be done after 10 days of a new DLC dropping.

  • You're thinking about it too much. Don't even consider the BP offerings as anything other than them giving a little back of what you need to spend anyways. This is the way they want us to grind.

So, the goal for me are the perks, certain items/addons, bps/puddings/cakes. Everything else is just extra and I don't even care what those extra things are as long as it leads to what I really want. Alternatively, they could remove the fluff and double the cost of the good stuff (or whatever ######### number they want to charge) and it will be the same thing anyways.

They changed the bloodweb twice before. They can make it even easier if they wanted. Maybe have multiple perks available from level 1 and/or put more perks in the middle rings of the web. Tiers should stay. It's what makes people play more than they should.

  • There are still players with bad connections, but in general it's better. I don't think I've ever warped with crossplay off.

  • I think it has to be said that not everyone can get to red ranks regardless of how easy people say it is to achieve. Maybe you just reached your skill cap. Everything you need to know about how to rank up is in countless videos online, and if you're still having trouble after 3 years maybe that's where your skill level really is. There's nothing wrong with being average.

  • If your goal for winning is 4k at red ranks, then expect it to be hard, especially without a good killer and addons. If you shoot for the 2k, then the pressure is relieved by a lot. Maybe play with that mindset. You can still make good BP and even rank up if that's your thing.

If you think it sucks now, wait until MMR comes back. Theoretically, all matches will be "challenging".

  • Saving them for the next DLC.

  • At this point they should just add a brown addon that does this for all range killers, in the style of Plaid Flannel.

    .... umm, what pseudechis said.

  • I wouldn't read too much into that. Korean culture is different from Western countries in that being successful in academics and work is a big deal to parents, especially those with old world values. I would think what you quoted has more to do with that than anything else.

  • LP is ok but if I had to choose, I'd pick Whispers simply because it has no time limit. Finding a survivor early-game with Whispers is fairly easy but it also has the benefit of staying with you for the rest of the match. The only downside I have with Whispers is I start to rely on it if I use it too much.

  • I'd like the difficulty to be harder, to be honest. The biggest thing I would change though is to cap out how high you can get when in SWF.

  • I don't use them anymore because if I keep using them I'll be capped on perks well before the next DLC hits. I have a few friends that are doing the same thing.

  • @gammatsunami said:

Does anyone else think the rift doesnt have enough content in it / levels ?

I reached level 70 before the final tome was even out and the same thing happened for the last one. Still bummed we didnt get a level 100 young bill. Id love to see it increased to 100.

And a numbered charm that changes to indicate what level you're on? I'd like that.

  • Old Quentin looks more like the actor than the new one. I'd be disappointed if the new one makes it to live.

  • This map has terrible flow to it. Needs to be more simple.
