  • Whenever I see Sloppy Butcher, I see legs. Then there's that stiff perk from the new survivor. Can't unsee either.

  • Maybe the matchmaking system should consider addons/perks/items being (or has been) used when filling a lobby.

  • Maybe without perks or very limited perks, limited item effectiveness, and static maps-- essentially, the less randomness, the better foundation BHVR will have to balance around. So no, I don't think this game will every truly be balanced.. just enough for casuals to be happy (enough) with it.

  • In the case where everyone else is safe and waiting at the exit gate, I usually only stay after an unsuccessful tunnel/camp and I usually tbag with the other survivors because it's funny. Sometimes I'll stay to get heal points or if I'm with friends, we'll play chicken.

  • I don't have a problem with solo queue as long as matchmaking works or nobody is doing a challenge.

  • I've always felt BHVR misses out on big opportunities with April 1. They could use that as a veil for testing out different things, like first person survivor, or built in stretch res for everyone, or quickplay perk randomizer mode, or black and white mode. Whatever.

Maybe they can do this for the Anniversary-- or at least something drastically different.

  • Dance With Me, Deception, Diversion, Quick & Quiet. I use this to screw with killers and I usually laugh a lot while I end up dying.

Blastmine, Flashbang, Head On, Red Herring. Same deal.

    Alert. DS, Head On, OoO.

Autodidact, Bite the Bullet, Empathy, Solidarity. Pure BS build. 5 stack Auto is a win for me even if I get the big sac.

  • They did some internal testing with a higher FOV before and found it to be too strong. This was mentioned before on an older dev stream.

Whelp then yup that is useless. I was told by a player who has played longer then me it did but it could just be something they heard from someone who heard it from someone lol. I should affect the luck you get out of chests.

People have believed it since 2016 and it wouldn't surprise me if long-time players still thought it too. And yeah, maybe it should increase rarities in chest loot but do I really want a pink map over a green flashlight? Eh.

Meh honestly green key has always been a bad key and bring a key back before hatch rework meant you were the target. I feel like the luck one is better then you know. When I run a chest build in hopes of getting a good item cause I going threw the blood web and getting out with an item found is awesome feeling. Add-ons might have to be reworked as a survivor and I think that I should be able to buy add-ons and items out of a store for BP (more than going threw BW) and the same for killers they can buy add-ons.

Luck only applies to unhooks, not chest loot rarities.

  • In some type of casual/quick play mode, sure.

  • You can label it as the most popular horror asymmetrical game of all time. Nothing even comes close. When you're starting out, it's a lot of fun, and if she gets it on sale for $10, she will get her money's worth even if she only plays for 20 hours. At the very least, she can say she tried it to see if that type of game is for her.

Duo with her for a while and don't focus on the grind. A lot of new players just want to have fun and not think about the negative, right off the bat.

so basically make the killer go insane so u can have fun with you "friends" while bullying him, yea that makes sense i guess

Ideally, DBD matchmaking pits you up against equally skilled opponents.. and early on in the SBMM tests, it worked really well, so I know matchmaking can work with SWF in the mix because that was more than half of the games I had on the PTB. There was no "bullying". There were ######### that liked to taunt, but so what-- that's online gaming for you.

When you're queued into a lobby, matchmaking works well if players want it to.. meaning, they can't leave. Once they do, there's a good chance that whoever fills in that spot will be put up against someone outside of their skill range. A good killer & good killer player can do well against a good SWF. Do not blame SWF. You can blame matchmaking and balance (and all that encompasses), but blaming SWF is not the way.

  • I wouldn't expect them to. Cheaters aren't preventing you from playing all that much, are they? You might be inconvenienced for 1 game out of 50? 100?

It's not like when they have server issues and the whole game is inaccessible for days.

Besides, BHVR first has to acknowledge there's a huge cheater problem which might take a lot of prodding on the community's part because they're not going to do it on their own.

  • The obvious solution is to remove survivor names and cosmetics in the lobby so killers don't dodge and screw up the matchmaking. I like the idea of showing SWF in the end screen though.

  • DH allows me to play a lot more aggressive-- especially with a good team, which is more fun. SB is a better and and safer perk, but more boring because you play more cautiously and with a different mindset. I'd much rather try to make ballsy plays at the risk of dying more because I don't like playing all that safe if I can help it.

With the exception of the strongest killer players, you don't even need exhaustion perks to win against them.. so that should tell you the state of DBD balance at the high end. A good group of survivors can do just fine without DH or SB.

  • Maybe the bot was lying.

  • It just seems like it because they're the most vocal about #########, but it's (probably) not how it seems. If you weren't around, killer complaints, at least the ones that made the posters seem like bad gamers were downvoted a ######### ton (back when you could still downvote posts). It's the reason why they took away that option-- not necessarily to lessen the validity of killer mains opinions, but people in general.. so more people would engage and create more conversation without getting forum bullied. Yeah, I said it.

I still miss the vote down button though. It was a pretty good gauge that told me if a topic was worth my time or not.

  • In a week, the only way I can do that is if I play SWF. It's fairly trivial because we pip up every game. I can't do it solo, but I can do it in less than 2 weeks if I play for pips. More frustrating than difficult if I want to pip and can't because of the random BS.

As killer, I'm iri within a week, easy.

Remember, ranks are a gauge of how much you play. This has been stated by devs themselves. It seems like you can't do it within that time frame due to real life commitments, so you shouldn't get upset about the system because of your limitation. Unless they're hacking, nobody's manipulating anything-- they're just playing a lot. You'll have to deal with the reality that they have the time.

  • Man, it would be best if you just didn't even get into it like that. You're going to think a good portion of your games have hackers in it when it could have all just been an unfortunate string of events.

  • The obvious answer is to fix Blight movement mechanics and hardware tech exploits. That will make it more on par with console controls, but it would definitely send Blight down a tier, so not sure if people will go for that... but maybe if people post about it enough?

  • Play how you want, but for me, cleansing ALL totems for NOED is a waste of time. I make a mental note of totem spawns and return later if I have to.

With COH being a stronger perk than NOED, I would rather have that and deal with NOED later, if it even comes up at all. With people doing their challenges or dailies or maybe the killer already has a lot of pressure created without a gen done, it's almost always the better play to prioritize gens over anything else in solo queue.

I'm not a new player but I just came back to the game and I'm ash 1. I'm just curious why I keep getting put against iridescent killers? It doesn't seem too fair to me

Same name ingame, right? I remember your name from earlier today because you filled in for a duo that had just left, and they're pretty good. A problem with the MMR system is that if people are waiting in lobby for a while, it might put you in that group regardless of your rating. At least that would explain that one game.

Well if they thought she was underpowered then, what do they think about her now?

The people saying she was underpowered when she probably wasn't? What do they think?

Hahaha. This is the DBD forums, man-- you know the answer.

  • Not only balanced, but there were many people going further, saying she was underpowered during AND after PTB, so they buffed her after release.

They should have just let it ride for a few months to see how it would play out because not too long after that, someone (Horvath?) said it was a mistake to make changes based on community pressure and they didn't want to do that again... although I might be confusing Rin with Freddy's rework. It's on one of their Dev streams.

  • They've had so many free weekends, 50 million players total doesn't surprise me-- especially with all the other platforms.

Two million logins a day though.. that's impressive.

  • No, it's good enough for the casual gamer. Not only that, but people don't like to talk about how it can be FUN to find out about bugs and exploits. At this point in the game, it's part of DBD's legacy and I accept that for all it's worth. As far as balance, that's good enough too. It's not worth their time to fix most of their mechanics-- from blood webs to maps to perks to items and offerings --it's a waste of time to do it all at once.

They need new content to keep the game alive. I don't know of one game that has lowered their expansion releases and kept their same player numbers. It usually drops. Lack of content = a dying game in a lot of peoples eyes, including mine.

  • I don't care if it's a PR ploy- it's free BP. The game will die eventually no matter what. Enjoy it while you can.

Hello, I'm a player from EU west, but I constantly get matched with russian players, especially in evening. First of all ping is quite bad sometimes and second I can't chat with the people in after chat. And they just write in their language and I can't understand them.

I'd like to be matched with people, who are using the same letters like me.

Is it possible to give the russians like own matchmaking?

Frankly, because of all the sanctions, I think you'd get more traction if you did make this a political reason.. although I don't know how far the mods would let that go on here.

  • Most of the time, you should be getting a decent match, but yeah, sometimes you don't get a fair match up. It has always been like this-- SBMM or not, and I doubt it will ever change. You'll either learn to accept it, or you may find it better to move on.

  • Plenty of people enjoy tunneling for the simple reason that it gets results most of the time. A lot of these people don't care to get any better and are happy with their skill as long as they can score decently. It's no different than all the FFA arena games where players camp armors and health and spam grenades at spawn points. It works without a whole lot of thinking.

  • There are players that know how to play against him, but people that don't know how to play against Bubba are the vast majority. The ratio of good players to everyone else is a joke. 1:100? 1:200? And it's that way because the vast majority take this game casually and don't care about the ins and outs of the game.

    Hello

I think this way nets you 10k more bp saved. Not much but had to try, it is fun for me :)

    Thanks!

*Edited to censor my name :/

Good to have options. This is good for people that have fast killer queues right now. My region won't be that way for another 5-6 hours. Currently it's fast survivor queues.

Wonder why BHVR decided to omit data for pick and kill rates at high MMR? They always used to separate overall and red rank stats.

I think once they can show MMR ranks like the old rank system, they can do it, but I'm guessing it's easier to lump everything together because, theoretically (hypothetically?), most players should be playing with and against others of the same MMR so the graph is good enough.

When they show ranks, then everyone can identify what's high, mid, and low... but really, you can get high MMR with the lamest strategies. I would be surprised if there'd be a huge difference. And besides, from what I understand, they're still adjusting parameters behind the scenes.. MMR tweaking will be going on for a while yet.

They were still playing 3 days in a row and being matched against me, so I doubt they got banned.

It's possible that they didn't get banned right away since devs have said before that they're swamped with reports. Maybe they got banned the 4th day, or the 14th day. *shrug*

  • @OldHunterLight said:

They are not, I still find the same person who told me to kill myself in chat, even when the other 3 randoms said that they reported them because it is just a game.

They are (or at least they used to be), but it's not permanent. I remember someone getting suspended a few years ago for making some off color remarks when we were in chat. Next time I saw him, he said he was banned for BS and laughed about it.. and he still talked ######### in endgame chat.

If BHVR's system is like most other online games, offenders are given multiple chances.

  • You're better off playing with BBQ with a strong build and play normally while focusing on your 4 stack. In and out in 10 minutes with 50k as opposed to 15-20 minutes for 60k. I can see if you want to maximize your BP by using saved offerings across all killers, but for my sanity I'd rather play killers I enjoy rather than killers I dislike-- even if that means I waste hundreds of cakes and bps.

  • I know this should go without saying, but I'll say it anyway: people ######### around a lot in end game chat. I know I do.

If the killer thinks I'm in SWF when I solo, I'll go with it and talk about how SWF is balanced.

If survivors think I'm trash because I hit them a bunch of times on hook, I'll call them out for being a hacker.

If the game was extremely uneventful, I'll even start it off by saying something I think a killer/survivor main would say because that might be more fun than the match itself.

And just like subtle hacking, you can subtly meme too. It's not just an ingame thing either. Happens on this forum every day.

  • Feng and Nea when they're on my back and not struggling. Feng's moaning is funny and Nea sounds pretty real.

  • Boil Over highly OP. :D

This game is so survivor sided even the challenges are insane for killer.

Survivor ; escape and do a gen with still really good perks

Killer merciless with trash perks. This is real stockholm syndrome, not sure why I even play anymore.

honestly it's actually been really useful in solo so far. not running into deadzones through sheer terrible luck and even worse teammates does wonders for your self-esteem and chase ability.

Oh I wouldn't doubt that. That's mostly the only thing I die of if I'm first in chase- dead zones. But it's not common I'm caught off by them that would justify the need for the perk. And really, if bad teammates are in my lobby, it's not going to be WoO that saves the day. It's usually a fast death. :D

  • @Raccoon said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2720942#Comment_2720942

You can do all of that, but there's still going to be hidden information.

    WoO is 100% accurate.

I guess that's where we differ in what we value more. I can do fine without WoO and would rather have access to something else.

  • It's ok if you're still learning and I would totally recommend it to those with already a few dozen hours under their belt, but the more you play the more you'll realize it's not necessary. Just pay attention to where you think other survivors have been chased and scout areas while going to the next gen.

I think I was aware that at least 2 people had flashlights that game, but I usually don't care too much about thinking of every possible flashlight angle and baiting survivors out ever single time I down somebody. If there is a wall to face, I will look at it to avoid a save. It's just hilarious to me, that even when you bury your face into a fridge while picking up, they can still get an angle on you.

Ya, you have to be careful because sometimes people just get real lucky with wide angles, holes and slits. I know I've been called out before for questionable saves when in fact I was just lucky because I gave it a shot and it worked.

  • Earlier today I was playing Billy and came up on shack where Felix and Feng were working on a gen. I chased Felix around the shack and Feng threw the pallet on top of Felix and I downed him. He DCs and not even a second later another survivor DCs. Feng starts tbagging me and I down her, then slap her on the hook 4 or 5 times for wasting shack pallet. Face camped her while eating cereal and watching Youtube. Last survivor got hatch.

Sometimes survivors just want to be silly. Funny first game though.

  • @Krimbar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2717086#Comment_2717086

So it would have been less greedy to go for another hit instead of as humble as I am, going to pick up my earned down?

I wouldn't say it would be "less greedy" but it would have been a smarter play for sure if you knew another survivor had a flashlight. Walk around the corner and see if he's waiting for an angle.

Getting a down is one thing, picking up is another, and so is hooking. I think this is a good experience for you because now you know for next time. Live and learn.

Only ji seem to get this lag, no one i play with or against ever seems to get it just me. am i the problem. would it be better if i was gone. I try to keep to a moral standard of not camping or tunneling but after being bullied for the 4th time today and getting only 2 hooks the whole game i wonder if its finally time for me to quit. ive met some good people playing dbd but now i just wanna be happy i don't wanna suffer anymore.
