devils advocate-hatch isnt a free escape in most games.if you kill everyone, minus one person, they hid well enough to find the hatch, thats not really free

I mean its more of rng dependant, because you can be an incredibly good survivor and the hatch spawns in front of the killer so they clise it, and the contrary can happen too so id say its almost always rng.

  • LMAO, GET DUNKED ON GHOSTFACE!!!

  • Cant this response apply too to your statement about NWO? "Then don't get 3k'd"

  • Why not play huntress?, devs treatment of billy reflect they rather have a clucky unfun gutted killer than admit to making an unproper balance change, or keep playing ds and be glad if the devs don't manage to make him worse.

Yes I am trusting the devs because none of you are working on the game. Only they make those changes.

As for Deathslinger, his changes have nothing to do with Camping.

Im never saying these changes shouldnt be made, only that dbd devs have a very dubious track record in making things "more fun" and less bs as I mentioned slinger got gutted for the sake of fun so I believe I have full justification to say bhvr will mess balance up and either make those mechanics worse or neuter almost all the killer roster.

If that's what you believe, then I'm sorry you have such a negative attitude. As I said play however you want, it's not against the rules.

However please don't use an excuse that you may be trash talked at the end. At least own that your attitude is the reason you may be taunted at the end.

Im not excusing my actitude if I play like a scumbag I know I can get hate for it and thats ok, but since playing normally gets me hate too, why not use the most effective one at the moment if i ahve to play nice to win ill do it if I have to play like scum then i'll do it it doesnt make a difference.

And any good killer can use the information survivors have to mindgame them back, again smart players don’t hold W into survivors. I think that’s out of your comprehension though.

I am on the side of spirit is fine but the sound mindgames work until that survivor is good fam, no good survivor will fall for a spirit sound mindgame if they have audio and some sense of the game.

No you don't have to pretend anything. In fact all you have to do is not claim what isn't being said.

Yes face-camping needs a fix and Camping also needs to be looked at. Simply from the perspective of , it is too easy to do and promotes the same stale meta on survivors (I.E. BT and DS). Am I saying that they should nerf it and that's it? NO. Am I saying that whatever change they do should only benefit survivors? NO. I am saying that the devs should focus on making the game more fun and balanced on both sides.

I've seen killers complain on the daily about DS and BT and the OP has presented with the reason why. THEY are doing it to themselves.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2944167#Comment_2944167

I know it's not, but I am saying that you having a reaction over something meaningless that does not change the course of the match, is not the same thing as a playstyle that does make a significant impact on the match.

You are comparing playing nice (as in not doing any of those things) with survivors BMing you that makes no difference in the outcome because they have a macro and decide they want to be jerks about it.

So we are trusting the devs to nerf camping/tunneling and do it fine without making it worse for killer like they did with the deathslinger changes that turned the sniper cowboy into an old man with artritis holding the cringe-launcher?

  • @Icaurs said:

Anyone is more then welcome to play however they want in this game. As stated by the proper rules outlined by the developers.

However as a killer, players must understand that using certain strategies, will not be treated with respect. I don't mind losing to a competitive Nurse, even if they are sweaty, because I recognise their skill, and can appreciate that, even if I am not playing as serious. However even if I were to survive against a killer that camp/tunnels. I know that killer is ruining the enjoyment of a player, its not a good mindset. Some players will say "Its not my reasonability to make sure everyone else is having fun." If everybody has this mindset, then I and many people would stop playing this game immediately.

Anyone can play killer however they want, however don't be surprised that if you play in a way that spreads negativity, if some of that negativity come back at you.

I mean even if you win without tunneling or camping you are gonna get trashtalked so it probably doesnt matter in the end.

Thrill is extremely useful for Pentimento builds. It, Pentimento, and Plaything forces survivors to do totems unique to them that they'll want to break even if they have a boon perk, because blessing over their Plaything would take nearly a full minute with Thrill still up.

In general, it's also just most useful as a counter to boon totems. It makes blessing take long enough that survivors will be more inclined to break at least the one bone that has Thrill on it, and they'll want to break any hex instead of blessing over it unless they want to spend a very long time doing so.

All in all, Thrill's 'nerf' ended up being a lateral move; it's not a totem defence perk anymore, but it's a moderately good totem slowdown perk alongside being a pretty decent boon counter. People want the notification back, but imo that's a bad idea- rather, I want to see it no longer be a hex, so survivors have to break totems to lessen its impact.

Thats if survivors care about oblivious which can be ignored by using your eyes really, altho its my favourite status effect for some reason.

I am never greeding against Billy but that's me ofcourse. He is my fav killer to face. And he is so rare... So i am trying have fun with Billy while i can.

You dont need to greed, if you have played billy before and know the hitboxes you should force him to m1 in about 80% of the loops that exist, the thing is billy players like flashy hits and therefore they will throw the match to get em, thats when you take advantage and loop him for a long time, yet he is special in the sense that looping him is fun so you are having fun in chase and at the same time winning the match, I think thats why billy is so fun to go against.

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

I swear i never met with any sweaty or toxic Billy. All of them are playing for fun (I am talking for my exp). Trying weird chainsaw hits, flying, running all map with chainsaw etc.

Billy is just great killer and his mains know how to have fun. So sad i am so bad with him.

As much as this is true it makes them really easy to beat, they will keep trying for that chainsaw hit on loops where you as a survivor can fully deny any posible chainsaw hit, but looping them is fun af if you are good since you can last a very oong time in chase and it does not get boring.

    A) No Way Out doesn't need a single token to work. It has a base value that always works. Tokens are extra

    B) If the killer's closing hatch, they likely have 3+ tokens

So? The killer has played all that match with 3 perks, has managed to kill 3 people and somehow its unfair if he denies a free escape? At that point why not just make the 4th survivor instantly escape as soon at the 3rd dies?

Aren’t his counter-play choices great? Let him stay undetectable and able to expose survivors, or tip him off to exactly where you are. Even if you can’t finish the reveal.

I mean I think that is barely a choice, tipping him is always the way to go, what on earth are you risking by revealing your position to an m1 killer? Just dunk on them, teach them to select an usefull character next match.

The Hatch was a mechanic intending for the survivor to be able to have an alternate means of escape, something that can rob that is unfair.

So something that can counter an rng depending mechanic which is a free escape without the survivors input may I add, and the killer has to get the tokens too, is unfair?

Um you can pinpoint her location enough for you to know which direction ( you as the survivor ) should be going in. It’s also proximity based ( means the whoosh gains intensity the closer she is to you )

she need a reduced cooldown to her power so that the FAsT MoVEmENt iN PHasE bY DEFaulT is actually useful 🙄

I would argue make the cooldown of her power lower and if you want nerf something else, just so its like blight and you can use you power 24/7 since its really fun and makes chases not stale.

Did no one account for the rise in popularity of Legion due to getting a rework (or at least a rework that is significant, sorry Ghostface)? I mean from what I've seen any new Killer or reworked Killer is going to be overplayed by most due to new powers, mechanics, add-ons, etc. Hell when Sadako was released I ran into her pretty much all the time and I never saw a complaint about her being overplayed (although who would complain about playing against Sadako multiple times in a row). I give it until the 6th Anniversary when the new Killer is announced and when they eventually drop then Legion won't be overplayed anymore.

Hey not too fast there ghostface did get a change, he is worse now, LMAO GET DUNKED ON GHOSTFACE!!!!

compared to about 60% of the killer cast, Spirit is in a great place. She can only be considered a tiny bit weaker when talking about either nurse or blight, compared to which all other killers are pathetic and awful.

A blight in his power needs to be good, can be outplayed in a lot of scenarios and gets stunned after missing. Spirit needs good headphones and tracking but less mechanics. Additionally she is far more forgiving.

Spirit being invisible IS a big deal, and no her location cant be pinpointed, you can only tell which direction shes coming from, not how close she is. You being stunned constantly sounds like a skill issue tbh

The only thing i can agree with in this post is that blights addons go too far. but that doesnt mean spirits addons are bad. take a look at the other killers (im talking billy, PH, Twins, Onryo, freddy, ...) addons, and you will find that a lot are useless, tradeoffs with too weak an upside, situational at best, and so on.

Im an avid spirit enjoyer and even tho I think OP is in the wrong and she is in a perfect spot atm, it is bs that you cannot pinpoint her, good headphones with directional audio lets you know exactly were she is, maybe since she is rare nowadays people dont know how but it is doable.

  • Just saw the video and some of his channel and holy hell it was impressive, how on earth do you get so many people that loop so badly while winning multiple games in a row?, mmr is broken, hes a very good killer tho, saw videos of him playing twins and it was sick, but by no means where any of those survivors (the ones against sadako) giving him a hard time in chase really, and he was playing an m1 killer, people were messing up chases real hard.

  • @dugman said:

RedsGamingGears has a 30 Days of Sadako series where he played her for 30 days straight and explored a bunch of different possible loadouts and strategies. He did quite well with her, especially using slugging combined with her Green add-on that curses survivors who heal each other to apply additional pressure. Obviously there’s at least 30 YouTube videos or more of him playing Sadako but this was the one on the 30th day and shows what he thinks was his favorite loadout.

    • Corrupt Intervention - helps give extra time to apply early game pressure
    • Jolt - Gets a lot of slow down in a slugging strategy since you’re spending additional time downing but not hooking
    • Save the Best for Last - Very useful for continuing a chase quickly after an initial hit to secure a down
    • Bamboozle - Helps mitigate her weakness at stronger tiles
    • Red Iridescent Videotape - Refreshes TV much more quickly to help apply map pressure
    • Green Ring Drawing - Survivors who heal each other gain stacks of Condemned if the wounded survivor was cursed. Since dying survivors can’t normally heal themselves to injured this works especially well with slugging since it forces survivors to spend time healing each other and gaining additional stacks of Condemned in the process.

The basic strategy then is basically keep chasing and downing over and over, breaking pallets to remove resources, but only hook one specific survivor and slug the rest. Because you’re spending no time carrying survivors and can also teleport around the map very quickly you are constantly chasing and pressuring them and forcing them to heal each other and periodically remove stacks at TVs instead of progressing the gens. You eventually hook out the one survivor and get to a 3v1 scenario where you now can snowball to victory. Additionally because of all the extra stacks from the Green add-ons plus all the teleporting it’s not uncommon to get a Condemned kill either since the survivors are so busy just trying to tread water and keep each other standing at least one of them will accidentally let the stacks get away from them and give an opportunity for a kill.

    https://youtu.be/mp9mFcxs4Wk

Doesn't this all fall apart if the survivors are good at looping tho? i mean against people who will go down against sadako without looping her for at least 2 gens I wouldnt even recommend builds, as those people will get dunked on anyway regardless of build.

As a new brother to the ghost main order, I must agree with this. Ghost face is a legitimate threat when played well (especially with certain add-ons).

Sadako is scary with her 2 best add-ons, otherwise she is a handicap.

Disagree, no m1 killer can be a thread if you are semi decent at looping and can use dh effectively.

  • @amazing_grace said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2938026#Comment_2938026

The problem with trapper is that he's supposed to be played territorially. In theory, if you want to play to win, you lock down a three gen and keep all your traps in that area. Makes it hard for survivors to enter the area to complete the gens and eventually you'll win (it'll just take forever and not be worth a 20+ min game).

The times I have dominated as trapper is when I instantly set up an area and let 1-2 gens get completed and then chase survivors into my set up area. The games I get dunked on as trapper is when I don't have a proper set up. A survivor won't spawn next to you, so they honestly won't know exactly where you trapped at the beginning of the game.

I do understand the frustration though, that's why trapper isn't a strong killer in general. I've had that annoying survivor who follows me and disarms traps, it then just becomes a game of defending hooked survivors and being good in chase.

Isnt that territorial gameplay just out the window if anyone puts CoH in a totem far from it?

  • @cburton311 said:

It's amazing to me how killers/legion players just don't get the criticism. Playing against legion is insanely boring. Mending extends the M1 simulator that we get with generators and healing into the land of the ridiculous. Against a normal killer, I probably spend 160 seconds on generators and 32 or 48 seconds healing for a total inert boring downtime in a match of 200 seconds. Against legion the number is more like 300 to 400 seconds. Let's not forget the highly engaging hanging on hooks time. Then on top of that, we add a whole bunch of mend time. Out of a 15 to 20 minute match (only against legion are they this long), I'm spending 5 or 6 minutes doing absolutely nothing.

Additionally, the strategies are very simple. Press 'w', don't count on pallets or window vaults and try to stay spread out.

Until he is changed, dc'ing, suiciding, or afk'ing will still be at higher rates than against most killers. For most survivors, it is not about his strength. I get more DC's against legion then against nurse, ponder that one.

To summarize: the looping strategy is press 'w', and the inert time is 2 or 3 times more than other killers. This is why legion sucks to play.

How is it jud hold W, legion is still an m1 killer if the other survivors didnt gave them 3 frenzy hits, and m1 killers are incredibly easy to loop, on top of that being injured is barely a risk when dh is into play.

  • I avtually agree, someone who is good at killer should be able to win without slowdown, that is if the are playing a non-meme killer, same as survivor, if you can last long in a chase without dh and the game/badham style loops you have some skill right there.

  • @Phasmamain said:

In that case why doesn’t everyone just play nurse?

Although if this is the case that needs a fix ASAP

Because nurse gets some people dizzy with her fatigues and movement, same qith blight, people wont play something that makes them dizzy, that said I dont have any reason why anyone would play something like trapper or slinger when there are so many better options, unless achievements or adepts maybe.

  • Why play slinger when huntress exist tho, just play her, you avoid the bug and play an actual decent killer its a win-win.

  • @Laluzi said:

If you're 99ing properly, you're popping it when you're right on someone's back anyway, and you're not doing it when the survivor is right next to a pallet. The movement speed in this case negates the brief loss of momentum from stalking.

Anyway, Ghostface has some addons that actually help him now, which is better than before - it was less recharge time or nothing. Stuff like movement speed while stalking is still utterly useless, and there's some new ones like -8 TR while crouching (as if you're crouching when you're not stealthed) that aren't any good, but he's got some very helpful ones. Haven't personally played him much on account of the awful music, but Philly and Olsen's Address Book are amazing for their cost and rarity, and Olsen's Wallet is fantastic. Some of the pricier ones are really nice too, like GF Caught On Tape and Victim's Detailed Routine.

I mean it can be, but hes still an m1, idk maybe its just me but I see those killers just as free bp, so for me its hard to compute anyone not wasting at least a minute on a chase against those meme killers.

  • @Phasmamain said:

The movement speed add on (pretty sure it’s the knife sheath?) Seems very good when 99% stalks since it essentially guarantees the hit after

How is that a guaranteed down, isnt he still an m1 killer therefore easy to dunk on while on chase?

  • It makes joke killers worse it doest do anything your eyes can't do already,I dont see the issue really.

  • Weird experience as right now all you have to do is look in his general direction, but keep in mind if you are marked he cant reveal you so that may have happened.

  • Legion nerf, random perk changes, clown somehow stops working and now we have the entity crowns but with a slightly different model, new survivor has an useless boon perk and saving the best for last, slinger gets nerfed again because..bhvr.

Wdym, they nerfed ghostface, altho seeing as prople are not playing him its understandable survivors havent tested this change.

Agreed. Honestly, I'll be really surprised if Legion doesn't get a rework just because everyone will start suiciding, instead of playing against him.

If all of your games ends in 10 to 15 minutes except for Legion games that end in 30 minutes, then you have a problem. The pacing of game doesn't allow for 1 killer to extend games to 30 minutes without making the game mind-numbing and boring AF.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying Ghost Face is strong or weak either way, I’m just disputing that claim above that the average time to force a pallet or get a hit is 60 seconds when both the survivor and killer know what they’re doing.

And I agree, as a killer part of the strategy is knowing which survivor to chase when you have a choice and when not to bother starting a chase in the first place (like when a survivor is off 35 meters away in the middle of nowhere when you know the gens are being worked on nearby.) The macro gameplay of deciding where to go and who to chase and such is at least as important as the actual chases.

I think here is the misunderstanding I count the 60 seconds till the survivor goes down as thats when thr killer wins the chase. I firmly believe you cannot go down in less than 60 s against m1 killers if you are semi decent at dbd. Now that being said a lot of people somehow dont know how to run tiles but that doesnt make m1 killers good it just mean they can beat bad players.

  • @dugman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2931495#Comment_2931495

You’re wrong about it only working on clueless people. I catch otherwise good survivors all the time when I’m Undetectable. You just have to use cover on approaches to block lines of sight. A common mistake killers make when Undetectable is just coming straight in toward generators and such. You’re not invisible, you just can’t be heard as easily. So you need to use cover on approach to get as close as possible before being spotted. Also sidestepping toward the spot mitigates the alerts from Spine Chill. You won’t get grabs on people paying attention but you can definitely get close enough to make the ensuing chase very short.

And no, chases do not last 60 seconds on average unless the killer is messing up. My chases are more like 20-40 seconds typically with normal killers between when the survivor starts running and the pallet drop or hit. A 60 second chase is a sign you messed up as killer.

P.S. To clarify, I mean 20-40 seconds until either a hit or a pallet drop. In the beginning of the match you obviously get a lot of pallet drops initially versus hits.

How on earth does someone manage to last only 20-40 seconds against an m1 killer? I mean against the good killers I get it fully but against something like sadako and ghostface, they have to be trolling at that point.

Regarding undetectable I already asumed people were using cover when I made my observation, once you know its a stealth killer they wont surprise you for the remaining of thr match maybe the first survivor can get jumped but if you already know its a ghostface there is no excuse to get surprised by him.

  • Get dunked on ghostface!!! imagine thinking he could be good, add to it the new chase music, bhvr manage to make him worse even in the sound department.

  • @dugman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2930750#Comment_2930750

Except 1) he’s not just an M1 killer, he’s Undetectable most of the time which helps him get a hit prior to reaching a vault; and 2) even M1 killers can normally force a hit or pallet drop in a chase, if you’re getting infinitely looped all the time you’re doing something wrong.

Undetectable only works on oblivious people, not the ones with the status effect actual oblivious people, and regarding chase yes m1 killers can force some pallets or get hits but for that to happen the loop has to be incredibly unsafe or the survivor has to mess up, you will prop down them eventually but if they arent throwing they should las at least a minute in chase.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I think that greatly oversimplifies the complaints people have and ignores some realities of DbD.

Like most killers on the forum, I think you're imagining a scenario where survivors have a perfect map set up and are able to execute perfectly at all times for the entirety of the match.

If the Legion is really good, you're probably looking at a 3 or 4 gen scenario where you're constantly forced to retreat and mend. The game is probably going to take 15+ minutes if everyone plays well. And even if you're injured, the Legion is going to Frenzy you to locate other teammates with more hook states.

A good Legion will make the game take 5ever and turn it into a mending simulator. It's miserable.

True but they are still m1 so dunking on them is still very easy

  • @dugman said:

Saying he wasn't buffed at all isn't true, the extra duration on Marked is noticeable. I had a 4k with him last night in part because I was able to just Mark survivors and then catch up to them later on if they ran. It's like having Haunted Grounds on individual survivors with the 60 second duration. Yes, survivors who aren't marked yet can knock you out of it, but with the duration as long as it is now you can literally mark survivors from long range and then as long as you encounter them again in the next 60 seconds you can down them without worrying about them knocking you out of stealth.

Or hear me out they can just loop an m1 killer which is not rocket science, get dunked on ghostface!!!!

I still think he's very weak but better. Pretty much every killer that doesn't have any power that negates pallets or windows is bad. Why would you play as a killer who actually has to play around what survivors do when you can just play as somebody who shoots through windows and pallets?

Can't argue against that, killers like that are so easily dunked on, better to be forgoten and never brought back legit no point to try and argue, you are correct there.
