  • i can't find a killer lobby even after 15 minutes, survivor is ok, takes longer than usual but "only" 3-5 minutes.

He had a direct line of sight to me. Just made a straight beeline. He obviously saw me spawning and standing there.

oh ok, direct line of sight at start shouldn't be the case...

Just take a break dude. Game will still be here when you feel like playing again.

Finishing the Rift quests is easy. Finished all survivor quests in 1 day. Was going to do Killer quests too but it's nurse so I stopped. Waiting on Phase 2 of tome but that won't be for a while yet so I'm hoardng Chinese Toolboxes.

just try it, i never played nurse and got it in the first match, except for the constant stuns and the wonky floor mechanics (often blinked into basement without wanting it) she's actually fun. You will get the hang out of it after 2,3 matches so you can at least hit 2 people :D

Btw this is an example of one of my broken spawn points. It was an match just now I was in.

    https://youtu.be/1Num98YVEFQ

tbh this seems to be an ok spawn if the killer headed directly towards you after the start of the match. It's closer than usual but not broken imo.

If you dead hard for distance you'll never be exhausted on the ground. If you're dead harding to dodge a hit you were about to die anyway. If you use dead hard that way it should be a fluke because killers can very easily counter it anyway. Just bait it out. You should only be dead harding for distance and if you need to dead hard to dodge it should be a last ditch attempt.

It was a last ditch attempt since i was at the exit gates. And of course DH for distance is the most effective strategy but imo it's not about not getting downed, it's about prolonging the chase so the others can do objectives, and dead hard does this usually if timed well. 5 additional seconds in a deadzone can make the difference sometimes :)

    @[Deleted User] said:

Funny the survivors im going against are using it perfectly. You wait....and wait.....and wait.....and wait.....no dead hard ok swing oh perfect dead hard

I dont understand how thats even possible because if I wait to use it as survivor I get what op describes, splat on the floor

Well it's mindgames. Killers are like "expect DH on everyone!" and survivors realized that all killers nowadays just wait for their DH. So they maybe started to not use it immediately when the killer is in reach, but keep the tension and use it a second later.

Timing it right now is a pain in the behind. And I'm all about pains in my behind.

But seriously, I dropped it entirely and started running DS. Then I played like 10 matches straight and never used DS (I don't use it to work a gen in the Killers face like a turbo-nerd), so I dropped it for Inner Strength since I like to do a totem or two for points. I've only lost one match in red ranks thus far, and just had a match where I bullied a Spirit into DCing when I was about to leave through the gate.

It's not ALL doom and gloom at the moment, but it's pretty rough. Solid strats still win, and memes still lead to NANOMACHINES, SON.

well, WAR HAS CHANGED but SOLID strats still win.

Today i forgot that i started a match as Spirit and was afk for the first 3 gens. When i found them grouped up i was like "KEPT YOU WAITING, HUH". I then slugged and basement-camped me to a 3k with hatch escape. They had their chance.

  • @troy99 said:

easily anyone who says spirit is balanced just doesn't want their ez downs to be a history.

every killer has some kind of counterplay without perks. spirit is an absolute coinflip killer because she said so. camping a pallet doesn't do ######### and it has ######### odds too. imagine a killer that just stands there to fake their power and gets a grab on pallet because survivor had a wrong read. it's a bad design and should be changed.

her noise during phrase bug was actually really valid and it was easier to tell what she's about to do. she can hear you? you can hear her too and answer to the situation more properly, instead of going "oh ######### i don't know what to do.. drop pallet? stand still? walk away for scratch mark juke? keep looping? vault?" and get downed anyway.

There are still survivors who camp pallets against Spirit? Most of the survivors that i play against just leave the loop, run confusing paths or try to mindgame in any way (drop pallet from "wrong" side and vault, slow vault, drop and run...)

I started playing her strictly without Stridor and against better teams it's a pain in the ass. Mostly 1 or 2 have Iron Will and i find tracking running directions with scratchmarks or moving grass alone really wonky. It becomes a coinflip for the Spirit as well.

She shines with players who have a really good game sense. That's why some of the more experienced players and bigger streamers say she's OP. If you're already very good at the game you can just pick her up and become a good Spirit relatively fast. Nurse is even more oppressing imo but nobody has a problem with her because you need some "mechanical" skill which means you have to sink some hours into her to be good. If you don't have the game sense and experience with the game, you will mindgame yourself very hard, i know some better players who said they can't get play with her. I personally don't have a problem playing against her because most are boosted and/or rely on proxy camping and stuff.

can i give you the secret of spirit ? good headphones. you can track people really accurate using good headphones. better play other killers, especially spirit with stridor which gives no counterplay, no iron will is not the counter it only reduced the range

It is a counter, maybe not a complete counter but they're still more quiet than a normal survivor in a game without Stridor. If you keep moving it still makes tracking your exact position more difficult.

Holds up my two min exhaustion hatchets and dares you to try and run.

your complaint seems like your mad you can’t win a chase anymore with the perk and if you broke line of sight or stood still and killer used it to curve a hit that’s them outplaying you not the perks fault

I actually never used exhaustion or second chance perks, but recently started to use it because when i play killer it's the most annoying and powerful perk imo (dead harding into the next pallet or vault to squeeze out some additional seconds).

I opened an exit gate, got injured and normally this is a FREE escape with dead hard but somehow the killer could hit me from 5m away before i even used it.

    @MadLordJack said:

The sad thing is that people actually believe this.

"completely useless" obviously was an exaggeration (like nearly 90% of all topics and complaints in this forum) because i made this thread like 5 minutes after it happened... but hits and timings being completely off is true.

  • this thread was made like 5 min after it happened, so yeah i was kinda heated. DH for distance still works and i also escaped most of my matches because of rank reset (could even do most of the tome challenges in the first try). Hitboxes are a big issue, mostly as survivor but it's an issue for killers as well (getting teleported on the other side of a pallet after stun...)

that's always been a thing i'm pretty sure. it's not really an exploit since you can hit them.

ok i've never seen this before in almost 2k hours.

Yeah but only while falling and then they healed up (double heal) so i couldnt run back fast enough and drop down again to hit em. Was funny at first but the 4th guy just made gens while we had "fun" and then after i left the kettle they started to rush the last gen so it left a bitter taste

Since the update I haven't been having a whole lot of fun. With depiping at twice the rate, went from rank 4 to 7 survivor in one play session. Kept having games where people would suicide on the hook, disconnect, or on the killer side be really really toxic (Either in post game chat or in gameplay. 4-Man SWF bully squads are no fun.)

Frustrated and tilted I kept pushing on because I'm an idiot that can't learn to just stop playing if I'm not having fun.

Managed to line up a 4-man Mori team which I would like to show off. This will become my DBD Magnum Opus, painted by the suffering of survivors who had nothing to do with my frustration or Yamaoka's murder. With this satisfaction born of mindless bleed letting I can finally rest. Time to play something else for a while.

Side Note: I commend the survivors for not DCing when they saw what I was doing. It was not easy to make a 4-man slug army with everyone on death hook simultaneously. They kept insisting on reviving each other for some strange reason.

    https://youtu.be/67g8GOhL0Sg

i love this, this is just the unnecessary suffering of 4 innocent people who maybe wanted to have a good game with you, but they didn't know what they queued up for, they didn't know your story or what you went through. At least you could make them feel the anger that you felt the matches before. This is an inevitable part of dbd, and... in the end, you are a gruesome killer.

  • oh, i wanted to post that in the bug report section, please move.

further explanation: when you go up the stairs and fall down the kettle, you can stand on the ledge since the update. Killer can do that to by swinging mid air, but i did fall down everytime i tried to hit those survivors, so i gave up.

It's not a team game. Survivor A does not win if they die but Survivor B escapes, and vice versa.

The store page for the game even mentions this.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/27FGTBFFUS0V/image.png

Naturally, you'll have a better chance at escaping if you cooperate with your fellow Survivors, but it's by no means necessary. There's nothing wrong with not taking a hook for someone if you feel that won't lead to you escaping in the end.

Perks like Sole Survivor, Technician, Left Behind, Self-Care, Inner Strength and Power Struggle all encourage a loner 'selfish' playstyle, just like how perks such as Leader, Borrowed Time, We're Gonna Live Forever, Aftercare, Solidarity and Better Together encourage teamwork and cooperation.

but there is a reason why they added this counter and it is to buff solos i guess?! Because it may encourage people to help someone out who is on death hook. At least that's why i think it's there.

  • it looks horrible, like from some 20 year old Playstation 1 game. The turning, standing and general running animation looks so wooden and unnatural.

  • my list:

    1. not using my perks efficiently or not using them at all
    2. trying to mindgame save pallets and loops (it works against noobs but is a waste of time against good ones)
    3. playing "fair" and lose because "everyone wants a good time"
    4. chasing that god looper again who wants my attention
    5. getting salty in chat because i lost on a totally survivor sided map with a low tier killer and then 4 survivors are like "lol gg ez git gud"
    6. getting Dead Harded (not playing around survivor perks)
  • I think most people underestimate his detection power, it's his strongest asset imo. You can counter it but most people don't. If you're constantly in a chase then that's half the battle. His loop shutdown is not that strong or at least i rarely encounter doctors who are good at it. His gen slowdown (tier 3 madness) also doesn't have such an impact on most games. The madness skill checks can sometimes mess you up in a stressful situation but most people i know don't have problems with it. He is a well-rounded killer and i think one of the slightly stronger ones because of his detection which also helps him in very early game (very important) and very late game (1 surv left). I personally find him extremely annoying, i just don't like to be detected all the time and most matches against him are rather stressful. But i think he has a high kill ratio because he is a typical noob slayer, i remember that after the first 20 hours in the game, i thought he is the strongest killer because the skill checks were so hard for me.

  • i just got 2 games were i got pretty demolished with Spirit and i have probably around 500 hours alone with her and maybe 2k in total, i sit comfortably at rank 1-2 most of the time. Surely those were good survivors, what made the matches outcome was:

A: extremely good teamwork (trying to take the aggro for others, trying to diffuse scratchmarks for others who are in a chase, doing gens splitted up, doing problematic gens first, not wasting any time)

B: good mind games at loops (this is kinda hit or miss but there is a certain quality to really experienced survivors who can squeeze some additional time out of every chase - leaving loops unpredictably was the key )

C: of course me making "mistakes" (there was a little longer chase in the first game, you can't afford this against 4 rank 1 survivors, in the second i slugged someone who was on death hook because of possible DS and then got outplayed by another surv (lost him in a chase) which led to the rest healing up. I generally played too "fair" and not efficient enough and got distracted by other survs instead of getting someone out of the game at some point)

D: of course some RNG (blood lodge and storehouse, lot's of strong pallets and survivors who know how to use strong windows, i also didn't use my best perks or add ons)

It's definitely possible to win against her but i admit that you need a good team and knowledge - if the Spirit is good. If she is bad, most killers just confuse and mindgame themselves most of the time. I trash the usual default solo q lobby pretty easy with her, that's why i stopped using meta perks - which then in above cases hitted me back. I also used Stridor again which confused me sometimes because some survivors where to loud and i couldn't exactly tell on which side of the pallets they were standing. I'm still not sure about this perk. But it defintely helps against healthy survivors because the breathing is much louder.

It's still not a win. Also, it doesn't take into consideration player skill. Maybe they weren't as good of survivors as he was a killer. Or maybe they made some mistakes. In the few instances where I have had last minute switch outs against me, the teams really weren't that good. Which is why they do it at the last second.

Well, you can't win every game. You're supposed to lose some matches in a game which is RNG heavy. 0k should be as often as 4k, which is not the case (at least for me, depending on the killer)

  • i also rarely see Demogorgon, Plague and Oni. Spirit, Hillbilly and Pig are also very uncommon. I also don't see Blight anymore, he was very common but since the last update he dissapeared.

Most often i see maybe Bubba and Myers right now. Doctor, Huntress and (strangely) Nurse is also very common for me.

Huntress is probably the killer i faced the most since i started 1 year ago. I play in Europe on the same servers as the russians and they love Huntress (probably because she is russian).

  • You got into the circle of hate. Those survivors probably had very bad experiences (or are just straight up #########) and now they have this mindset "every killer is toxic trash that tunnels/ facecamps/ noed's/ mori's". Especially if you play solo q, you make a lot of frustrating experiences. Then, they start to treat fair killers badly and those killers start to think "######### i haven't done anything toxic, what is this for an unfair game?" and the anger starts stacking up and they start to do all this stuff because ######### it...

  • Isn't this a normal setup when the cowtree spawns on this side? Anyway most survivors don't know how to play those and get hit easily, you could get a hit even after the first loop at the cowtree if the legion wouldn't respect the pallet.

In my experience it depends from where you approach the gens (this also goes for other strong loops with gens like this), you have to cut the escape routes. If someone starts to loop in a setup like this and seems to know what to do, i just try to get a pallet and then leave. Catching survivors off guard is crucial.

  • A lot of old veterans come back after some bigger updates, then play for like 3 days and then leave again for 1 or 2 months. Because of rank reset they usually have low ranks. Met a green rank today with over 3000h who was really good. Also a 3 man swf that was in green ranks and played very good (they could be in greens deliberately). So your rank 18 meg could just be some smurf or someone who plays not very often.

Which in most cases makes sense, but with so many other effecting factors. Freddy's 70% winrate isn't because he is good, it's because kit doesn't limit the player. His kit gives back the power role to the Killer, and gives the player freedom to actually apply all of their skills in a single match. Meaning the survivors are actually facing a balanced Killer for once. The game is too easy for Survivors - most don't bother to learn even the basic's of the game. How easy it is to play Survivor, when you mainly play survivor also builds entitlement. With so many factors that give survivors second chances without any real skill build entitlement aswell. So then when they do face a moderately good, or expert level Killer they cry they were OP, or they mistakenly accuse the Killer of playing unfairly. I can't even count how many games I play Nurse and get accuse of Camping/Tunnel, simply because I have expert tracking skills, and am on top of all 4 survivors for the entire match. That's not camping, or tunneling. Which is why the only players that don't have an issue with Freddy are the ones who have learned how to play Survivor properly.

The problem I am seeing. I am so high in ranks with Killer I have long wait times, because I only get matched against strong 4man swf. My Freddy games I win about 45% of the time because he's easy to beat, or I am against a team that is just fooling around making it easy. I get all my wins from Spirit and Nurse. I can't play any Killer anymore because they don't have the ability to traverse the map quick, or is severly lacking in other areas.

Then we have twitch streamers creating a poor look on the game as well. Players looking up to Otz, Tofu, and Tru3 as these "godlike" killer players, when they havn't reached the top either. I completely stomped them which in turn made even themselves say on stream that "Survivors are too strong", but yet that's the only thing the viewer base doesn't listen to?

It's dissapointing to see in these forums too. Barely any of the Survivors in these forums know how to play the game right, and it shows in their responses. The lack of knowing how to counter Freddy, when to counter Freddy is as easy as playing Survivor right - that's it. Know how to loop. Know your map layouts. Always be on gens. Everything else is extra. To beat a good Freddy you gotta know how to wake up, and stay awake in a way that doesn't waste time. (I.E. Failing checks when Freddy's distracted, forcing him have to choose his chase or teleport/run to you. Waking up everyone after a hook save. Looping/Fixing Gens towards your clock).

The game is in a sorry state right now, and when they Nerf Freddy because their playerbase doesn't want to learn the game. I can only see the game getting worse from there till we have another Deathgarden (because this exact same thing happened to Deathgarden). Which if you don't know what Deathgarden is, you shouldn't be giving opinions on the forum till you educate yourself more on BHVR's company itself.

Nearly 3k per game isn't balanced. He has a significantly higher kill rate than any other killer in the game. And no, his kit isn't balanced. He is the most braindead killer in the game. You can't create a character that's super easy to use AND has very strong powers. That's just not working in the long run, balance-wise. There are multiple examples for this in other games. Does a godlike Nurse with 3000h playtime feel balanced, if you verse her? No, she will probably 4k most matches, but she had to do something for it. If you are mediocre killer and know a little bit about how the game works, you can pick up Freddy and easily get to red ranks very soon. I currently play in a swf were everyone has ~2000h and everyone there also shares my opinion about freddy giving too much reward for almost nothing. That doesn't mean that very good Nurse or Spirit players can't make better results. Or that it's impossible to win against any Freddy. But a lot of Freddy players aren't really that good. They are just boosted by his passive and super easy to use Powers, and that just doesn't feel right. It's like loosing as killer against a full 2nd chance perk squad

Killer isn't supposed to be easy. A lot of killers have this mindset and get very upset if they don't get a 4k for 3 matches in a row. Killer will always be harder and more stressful. It's in the nature of the game design and i don't see how this could change without breaking the game. I can tell you that in the current game state, for the first time, i'd rather play killer than solo survivor. Half a year ago, i only could play killer sometimes when i felt really good because it was just too stressful for me. Yes, solo survivor is more chill because you have some breaks in between and don't have to constantly be super sharp and sweaty to win. But at least as Killer i get to play the game in full, i don't get tunneled or face camped or have to rely on stupid teammates.

Btw on the one hand you say that you lose a lot with Freddy, on the other that he is very easy to beat but all the boosted survivors can't?! I play a lot of mediocre killers like Wraith, Ghostface besides Spirit and i do just fine in red ranks. Lose some, win some.

I personally can't wait for the nerf. A lot of Freddy players will finally realize how boosted they really are. It always feels like they got carried by his powers and their synergy with some perks.

  • i know it's only a band-aid fix, but they should just deactivate the pips in those matches with a high rank gap. In other games, you get more pips if the opponent is close to your rank and less pips/no pips if the opponent is some ranks above/under you. This way you can't just farm noobs to level up or get unfairly demoted by someone who is out of your skill level.

I think that's also one of the reasons why a lot of players are boosted in this game and rank basically doesnt mean that much (besides the rank reset that basically prevents that you leave red ranks once you reached it).

  • I play both and i like killer more, but that doesn't mean it's not stressful for me. I can only play like 3 killer matches in a row in red ranks cause i get tilted easily. Yes it's fun and it feels more rewarding if you win because it's more demanding, but some people don't play games to have a constant adrenaline rush. Some just want to chill a bit because they have a stressful everyday life. Being in constant alert mode (which i am everytime when i play killer) is not so cool for several matches in a row if i had an exhausting day at work.

  • I have to admit even though i made a few posts about how miserable my life as a killer main can be, that it has never been easier to play killer. I just play this game for 1 year but i have a friend who plays occasionally since 2016 and he told me, back then Killers were happy if they got 1k or 2k. When i play solo survivor i escape maybe in 1 of 5 matches, there is a reason why many in red ranks play in a swf.

And there you can see my point already, the biggest issue for me is the discrepancy between solo survs and swf. You can match me against the usual potato solos rank 3-7 who are maybe even gonna do challenges, and i 4k in 9 out of 10 matches, even with Demo or Wraith. I'm pretty sure the current balance is not 2k/2 escapes. And i'm also sure that i'm not just "too good", because i easily get wrecked by a good team. Give me a 4 man swf with voice comm and i probably lose 7 or 8 out of 10 matches, even with Spirit.

Killers get spoiled because they 4k most of the matches and when they play against an actual good survivor team they ragequit because those survivors show how abuseable some game mechanics and strategies in this game still are. Btw i'm guilty of this aswell. The game doesn't need to change the loop mechanics, it needs to balance the discrepancy between solos and swfs because from there on you can balance the entire game, perks, maps etc. ...

I think a great part of the frustration comes from the fact that you can get a 4k at 4 gens left and in the next game on the same map you get a 0k including teabagging and bullying from a 4 man meta team.

  • my go to build was:

Pop, BBQ, Sloppy, Nurses. It's the default meta build i think but you can switch out Pop& BBQ for Ruin+Undying. Sloppy and Nurses is godlike on him since you don't want to chase but inflict surprise attacks and be unpredictable.

After i got bored with this build i switched things a little bit. @Boss mentioned MYC back then in a thread and i first hated it and never used it again but now i have to admit that it can be very powerful especially against aggressive, careless survivors and with the right add ons (All Seeing Blood). Sometimes you don't get much value out of it tho, but in some matches i got up to 4 insta downs which puts so much pressure on survivors. But you have to adjust your playstyle a bit.

Enduring+Spirit Fury can be great but some better survivors will just throw pallets early. But it's good if you want to play him more chase-oriented.

I'm All Ears is also a good chase perk on him.

Brutal Strength has nearly no noticeable effect for me, wouldn't recommend.

Save the Best for Last is also a good choice but i find it too stressful to take care about who i chase to not lose stacks. But definitely got some downs because of this perk when i used it.

I want to try out Forced Penance and Mindbreaker on him soon.

Add-on wise, the best were already named. Windstorms, All Seeings and the 2 clapper ones are his best. The yellow clapper is even better than the other one because you can annoy survivors and make them leave gens. The green Blind Warrior add on is also a good choice if you want to switch out Sloppy. Swift Hunt only works if you combine the purple and green one, than you have a noticeable effect but singly they're weak. Use double Shadowdance with Brutal Strength or single Shadowdance and Serpent for de memes.

On the most recent rift there’s the challenge of fall from a great height 3 times while being chased and it has to be done in the same match. I struggled with this challenge and was getting frustrated until I got Hawkins as a map; I ended up getting it within the first 5 minutes. Gideon meat plant would probably be another good one as there’s several drops all over the place.

i also made that challenge today and achieved it in the first try, i took a Haddonfield offering and just looped the killer around a house a few times.

  • Those "complete this in a single trial"-challenges are the most annoying and most "unhealthy", especially the harder ones that come mostly in the later levels. If you play a regular match with a regular mindest in higher ranks they are very difficult to achieve.

I don't think it's healthy for this game to intentionally throw matches because some survivors need to force events that aren't common (like finish 2 gens in the terror radius of the killer). The game is already full of randomness and chaos if you play solo q, now survivors who do strange challenges make it even harder to win for the people who play "serious".

On the other hand, stuff like "hook 20 survivors", "do 10 generators", "use 3 med kits" is kinda boring too and you don't have to do anything to achieve this other than to play the game regularly.

Btw i achieved that challenge with windows of opportunity and then, as i already suggested, just threw the game and lured the killer to pallets. I also needed like 4 or 5 matches because many killers just respect pallets or i died before i could even throw 3 pallets...

  • Victor doesn't has his own mori. Otz tried it out and there are only 2 moris! One with and one without the brother.

  • Yes. In Tekken, the pipping works like this: If the opponent has the same rank, you get +2/-2. If he is one rank above/under your rank, you get +1/-1. If he is two ranks above/under your rank, you get +0,5/-0,5 and so on... i don't know the exact numbers any more but something like this. A system like this would greatly benefit DbD.

  • Back then when i was stuck in green ranks with Wraith i switched to Spirit and made it to Rank ~7-8 in relatively short time and then got stuck again till i had a lot more hours. Here is the thing: you will hear a lot of people saying "all you need is good headphones gg ez spirit OP" and that's just not true. IMO she begins to shine when you're good at the game in general. That means, play a lot of survivor, play other killers, learn basic killer gameplay and develop a good game sense. Then she becomes very, very good. I saw a lot of ~100h Spirits in purple/green ranks who got outplayed a lot and relied on simple proxy camping. You need to know what the survivor will do, you need to detect all the options the survivor has immediately when going into phase mode - because good survivors will not just run in straight lines or camp pallets. Otherwise you will waste a lot of time because you lost the survivor or you got outplayed on a pallet/vault.

And btw this is (i think) also why a lot of seasoned players hate her, she is so strong when you know a lot about this game. If you have over 2000h and played a lot with other killers, you will have an easy time picking her up and 4k. But if you not, you will need some time to develop these skills. Besides that, the investment will pay off eventually. Just try her out and see if you like the mechanics. Personally, i don't care if other people think i play her for ez wins, i play her because i like the character and the mechanics. And btw, i still lose matches.

Don't use Freddy. He is extremely boring to play as and against. He is like playing killer with training wheels. Choose someone who you really like and then git gud :) (most helpful advice ever)

  • This paradox get's me every time. When i play killer (rank 1) i go in 2 of 3 matches against very good survivors who do the gens coordinated and know how to waste the killers time. I have to sweat a lot to get 1-2 kills and don't de-pip.

When i play solo survivor (rank 3) i escape maybe in 1 of 4 matches. Killers have the upper hand against uncoordinated survivors who are only mediocre in looping. Basically everyone just plays for the pip and doesn't care about "winning", which makes it easy for killers. Of course there are the occasional matches where matchmaking ######### up and you go against a rank 11 killer. Or you have luck with the RNG and got Ormond or something like that. But then there's also the occasional match where you die on first hook because of NOED or you get tunneled out of the game at 5000 BP and de-pip.

  • i main him and Spirit (i play other killers too), rank 1 currently, and i can say to you that against a good team who runs to nearby vaults and loops while uncloaking, you will have a really hard time because you waste so much time. Even if you just hit&run. If they do what every good squad does -> splitting up, looping as long as they can, it's hard to win with him. I even lost on Hawkins, probably his best map, against a good squad yesterday.

With spirit on the other hand, you can end chases quick and play around ugly loops. It's the only killer i play where i feel that i can compete with really good squads. That's why chase killers are the high tier meta.

Btw red ranks doesnt mean anything. They're often better than purple squads but you can get to red ranks by just playing much. Have a good start, injure 2 and down 1, and snowball from there, and you win against the mediocre red rank squad with any killer.

Look no disrespect, but you're a little TOO sensitive. In no way am I saying it is bad to be sensitive to these things, because they come from a place of sympathy or empathy and many other things. But the sad truth is these things happen ALOT, humans are the worst things to have lived in my opinion and Krueger shows that. This is an 18+ HORROR game the game is supposed to be scary and mature and if you cant handle the aspect just do your best to ignore it, if you dont you will just hurt your own mental health. But don't start calling for cancel culture or removal of certain things because they make you uncomfortable because some people appreciate these deep stories for immersion. Also im sorry you feel that way.

thanks. that's excatly my thoughts after reading the thread. I'm in no way a guy who tells other people to "man up" or to not be sensitive or something like this, since i know the struggle of mental health issues, being triggered/ traumatized etc. And it's good to empower people to tell their feelings and worries and talk about stuff. Those things are unfortunately part of this world and i think that a horror game should be able to imply stuff like this, maybe with some kind of trigger warning in some cases.

Personally, i don't see why massacring people in unimaginable ways and inflicting heavy suffering is something that's acceptable in video games but any offense that has some sexual- or hate background is a no-go for people. I personally can't watch SAW, i did watch one movie and it was so uncomfortable for me to watch those peoples suffering, seeing their beloved family members getting tortured and killed and they can't do anything. But i would never call for a change of those movies because of that. I just don't watch them anymore.

  • i even lost 3 gens without getting a single down and still 3k/4k'ed some games (in red ranks). But it's sweaty and survivors have to make mistakes. And you need to play a little bit more, let's say clever (some would say scummy or unfun) in some situations. I managed to win 2 games with Ghostface yesterday after a bad start (both had a longer chase in the beginning, 3 gens done after 2 min) only because i slugged a lot and took advantage of their altruism. I was also very lucky that in both games no one had Unbreakable. So, it's still possible to win if you're sweaty and have a little bit of luck but it probably wasn't fun for everyone...

  • i'm getting dead harded (and then missing hits) a lot even though the perk is pretty meta since forever. I just can't get in my head to wait for it because i'm so focused on the chase. There are cases where you can't do anything about it (DH for distance) but in a lot of situations i would have got the down if i waited 2 more seconds.

I also miss sometimes if survivors are really good at juking, which makes me feel stupid everytime. Not a general problem but due to low fps it happens to me more frequently than to other killers who play at red ranks.

I also want to learn new killers and decided to give Pig a chance.

  • Since i use Detective's Hunch or Small Game on every survivor, the only case where it was really frustrating was when the killer had a really good start and was downing people left and right. But in this case, chances are high the killer would win anyways, even without that build. In every other case i have to say, it gives the killer some time and some early game pressure if played right (much like old Ruin), but it can be easily gone in seconds and it's not that hard to find with the right tools. Most killers with R+U do not have any backup perk to slow down the game, which makes their mid-late game very weak once Ruin is gone.

  • i took me around 1000h of total playtime (BOTH sides) to feel myself as a mediocre- good killer (i can stay in red ranks as killer but of course i loose some matches). Now i have 1500h and i'm got a little bit better but i still loose. You have to accept that you can't win every match, this game is a randomized party game. What definitely made me better was watching tutorials about basinc looping (very important), how to run tiles and mindgame etc., but also watching streamers who play different killers, watching tutorials about specific killers, perks and add ons... honestly just getting information and then try things out and learn from it, but in the end nothing beats experience. And take it easy, it's a party game :)

It's easier to blame external factors than to blame yourself for a loss. Creates an endless shitstorm where it was always someone else's fault and the mentality gets passed around and around.

the problem is, in this game there are enough cases where you're not losing because of git gud but because of RNG or bad balance. I have to agree that especially around killers there is this mentality "us vs them, everyone is bad to us so we're getting toxic now". But some matches are just more or less predetermined because of RNG or after one side had a bad start. Then you have to go all through it even tho you know there is nothing to win really, you just take the punishment. it's good to analyse things objectively and see your own mistakes but in some matches i honestly don't know what i've could done better (with the knowledge that i had during the match). To get to the point, i don't think it's the people that are special in dbd community, i think there is just a huge build up of anger and frustration in some matches due to game design, and some people then vent in the after game chat and/or start that never ending cycle of mori's/ OP addons/ premade bully swf's

  • "Find survivor, uncloak, chase survivor, get looped forever, down survivor, hook survivor, 3 gens pop, find corner, cry."

You're not supposed to chase with Wraith for longer than 1 or 2 pallets. I also main him and i think he is not that bad if you play him with good add ons. No upper tier for sure but not the worst. Yes he can be seen when cloaked but that's not even the point of his power for me, his missing terror radius is the best part of it and you often can come dangerously close to survivors without getting noticed. He hard counters OoO, that's extremely cool, but Spine Chill counters him very well. You can play around it but playing against 4 SC is annoying.

He has great map pressure with Windstorm, when i play Ghostface i miss this so much, just sprinting from one side of the map to the other With purple WS is so cool.

He is not the type of killer where you should expect to win every game. Some maps have enough pallets to keep you busy for 5 gens even if you surprise the survs. Good survivors know they don't have to do anything till you're uncloaked and just camp the vaults. This is annoying, but as i said, if you want to win with him against good survivors, you need good add ons (Windstorm, All Seeing, Bone Clapper/Silent Bell), good perks (Nurses+Sloppy, also Ruin+Undying synergizes very well with the hit & run-playstyle) and then don't chase for too long. His power lies in the surprise attacks and playing unpredictable, being everywhere very fast while cloaked. Some buffs would be nice, like some basekit changes so you don't have to grind so hard for the add ons, also making him truely invisible over distance would be nice. But other than that, i think he is a fun killer simply because of his straightforwardness.

Yo leave his sounds alone! His sounds are NOT an issue, the stomping is heard literally as he comes within striking range and the portal sounds give survivors vital information that he is moving potentially a very far distance very quickly.

As for the other sounds they don't hinder or hurt him, and are a nice flavor to him

nah his footsteps are so annoying and loud for the player himself, i can't play him more than 1 game or i have to turn down the volume a lot. He was more like a stealth killer in the series but here he is loud like godzilla.

I use tunnels to cut off loops as well as travel. It makes me predictable once Survivors know where the tunnels are, but it forces Survivors to react to them.

3 tunnels are used ASAP to lay out a base network. Out of sight from gens, inside good loops to prevent their use, and they serve to direct Survivors to the same used/dead areas. At least 1 gen gets 2 tunnels though. 1 I dont hide, the other I do. The rest are saved for as needed. Post hooking, reacting to Surveillance, adjusting for finished gens, ect.

Odds are someone will get "smart" and start removing tunnels. I like those "smart" Survivors! They waste so much time and allow me to replace old worthless tunnels. And as said, if no one removes my tunnels I gain map pressure from traveling and limiting where Survivors can loop. It's a win/win.

As the game goes on STBFL ramps my pressure, Surge/Surveillance gets more value, and Survivors need to deal with me instead of me dealing with them.

That's the strength of Demogorgon. He synergizes so well with so much. Buff his base kit or addons, and those synergies just become too much. But that's also his weakness. Without those synergies, Demo is kinda meh.

If nothing else. Demogorgon is as cute as a puppy!

well i really would love to see you playing, i can't imagine how to shut down loops with his portals, at least not in a way like Hag or Trapper. His portals are way to clunky and travelling is too slow to surprise Survivors. Maybe you can force them into another direction by approaching them from this loop, but i think in general such networks on bigger maps are hard to setup and maintain (especially very time consuming). Some Demos use Corrupt but i don't like it because more than often it leads to bad 3/4-gen situations for me at least.

I still play him because he is a cool character and i like Stranger Things but every other killer i main usually gives me better results.

  • Prayer Beads are bad anyway. The idea is to have survivors always in fear and it may have some synergy with Ruin, but for me it never worked because i couldn't find anyone anymore. It's an early warning system that may delay gens a tiny bit but good survivors are cautious and can estimate if you're far away or maybe nearby. And if not, they will just hide, at least that's what was happening when i was using it.

  • Had definitely the same experience especially in the evening and night hours. Not really high ranks (probably don't play so often) but damn they played really effective, gens were flying and nobody was doing mistakes so i basically had to break every single pallet while looping, and then the game was over. Not fun.

  • the most frightening thing is when you play killer and pick up a survivor and instantly hear the loud breathing of a Meg running around the corner for the flashlight / pallet save...

She's either bugged or she got shadow-nerfed. Whenever she does her sigh you can tell where is she, even while phasing. It's honestly made her a lot more fun to play against, as even though I don't know exactly where she is I at least have a good estimate. It feels more fair, both sides are working off of sound to locate the other. Of course it's probably a bug so yeah.

    oh, didn't noticed this, thanks

-spirit got nerfed in this patch

    -added infinites with breakable walls

-undying is the only good killer perk that got released, maybe trail of torment

    -haddonfield, mothers dwelling, ormond

    -

Spirit got nerfed? Did i miss something?

Have you tried validating your game cache?

I do that every patch and there is always something missing.

Ever since i started doing that regulary I've been having barelly any bugs or crashes

no i never did, will try it out thanks!

  • When the game brings out the worst in myself:

Often i try to tell myself before a killer game "take it easy, you will probably not win because you play killer x with perks/add ons y on map z" and then in the game gens are flying, survivors start to get cocky and toxic because they know they have the advantage and i get super mad as the game goes on. Finally, i get toxic in end game chat or take a Mori for the next game.

Same as survivor when i'm the first one who got found, downed and then hard tunneled to death.

That's the worst thing, that this game brings out these negative emotions in me sometimes. More than any other game even though i love it. It has becoming better over time of course but it's still a factor.

  • Why ghostface? I mean jumpscares can be annyoing but at least the games against him are scary and spooky.

Can't decide between Hag, Doctor and Freddy.
