People became so sick of Spirit that no one is even playing her anymore. At least I don't see any Spirits anymore. I see more Nurses than Spirits.
People are probably extremely bored playing her, including me. I usually rather pick Nurse or Oni if I want a powerful Killer, Spirit is so brainless. Just have functional Ears and you'll do well with her.
I'd probably go out of my way to say that she is even more brainless than Freddy. Just press M2 to outplay.
I'm sure it's because of the constant bullying you have to go through as a Spirit player after matches and on the internet. Social pressure and cancel culture is a popular weapon in 2020. In every match i win, at least one player tells me that i'm an ######### for playing Spirit, that i play her just because i want to win every game... when i lose, which also happens against good survivors (in contrast to what everyone who doesnt play her thinks), people can't wait to spam "ez baby spirit l2p LOL you can't 4k with spirit every game? you noob!". That constant myth that's being told that Spirit is an easy 4k killer (i'm sure if it would be like that, people would play her more often) and you're a ######### noob for playing her, was planted in the heads of killers over time. And of course it's more easy to repeat what everyone else is saying than to try her out for yourself against really good players who acutally know how to mindgame her.
I also don't see her often, maybe 1 in 20 matches. I find good Deathslinger and Pyramid Head much more prevalent and oppressive, and i think many of the good Deathslingers use crosshair-overlays, which kinda is like cheating but yeah... it's not Spirit with Stridor, guess it's not a problem then.
Sounds are bugged btw, in my last game i couldn't hear 2 survivors with Stridor. It seems to get triggered by certain actions, because sometimes after going in a locker or so, they start making noises again. And btw, it's detrimental against survivors without Iron Will, just try it out.
And comparing her with Freddy? Sry but he has so many build in passive powers, with Spirit you don't have that crazy map pressure and build in stalling (falling asleep -> wake up) if you don't use specific add ons. She is good in chases and if you're injured, but getting that first hit is not easier than with other killers, especially now that everyone in Rank 1-3 knows a little bit about countering her.

ah ok see when you said counterplay I was thinking only in terms of a chase since that was the area of Spirit I wanted to be tweaked. Of course overall Nurse is a much better killer but lets say you have a Nurse and a Spirit no perks in a chase with a survior with no perks. When a nurse blinks its extremely clear with her inhale to the point you dont even need to look behind you to know she is about to blink. In this postion the distance that nurse can blink is steadily increasing and she cannot fake this. When she does blink its in a straight line with a second blink to make up for the first if need be. In practice its extremely effective but vs a very good survivor they can break line of sight and play around your blink since you can actually see were nurse is blinking (the red stain and blur before she appears). With Spirit you dont know when she is starting to phase or not only after. She is 110 base speed so she can land a hit without having to use her power or she can use her power for short bursts and gain it back like nothing (which is how i like to land my initial hits). The most important thing is when she lands that hit. Against a good Spirit if you dont have iron will you're dead, chase over. I just do not see a scenario where a survvior can continue looping a Spirit after she has landed a hit for more than a singel use of her power. Even if Nurse gets the hit there is no guarantee that on her next blink she will down the survivor, not even the second. Also the thing you said about Spirits footstep confuses me. You NEVER want to be glad you can hear Spirit's footsteps. that is an indication that she is very close to you. Survivors cant react fast enough to counter play her and you dont know what direction she is coming from.
I consider myself a good survivor and I can take any nurse for a spin to some degree, but I have been easily "outplayed" by Spirits in green ranks.
sry but i can't believe that. Most of the good spirit i verse are not even close to the levels of the good nurses i faced. I've seen only a few Spirits heavily dominating a game. Maybe its the region (i'm in mid europe). Most Spirits i faced in green/purple ranks are mediocre, most are boosted and don't know basic killer stuff. I was one of them back then, i got with her to like rank 8 easily, then hit a wall and actually started to improve my game in general and playing other killers. I think she really shines when you have some experience with basic M1 killers and with playing survivor, you will know better how survivors run tiles and stuff. Back then i just faced the ground, watched the scratchmarks and followed them, if i couldn't hear them. Now i don't really need the marks as much anymore, because most survivors run predictable routes. And even now i loose a fair amount of games with her.
So let's say Spirit gets a tell-tale sign. Why do people think it would be easier against her? I'm sure killers would find a way to play with that sign, and use it against you. Like you can play with Wraith's bell if using the Bone Clapper add on (you hear it all over the map in the same volume). "Standing still" is a meme and only bad survivors will vault into you. I'm barely standing still when playing her, only when i have no other option because my power is off and i'm standing at a pallet. It never works against good survivors.
Stridor is actually a hindrance when facing survivors without iron will. It's hard to pinpoint your exact location because your moans are everywhere. I only use it because Iron Will is so popular. And even then, it's still very quiet (50% of normal loudness) and if the survivor has a head start it's very possible to lose the Spirit.
-
In my experience it's a 50/50 chance that either the killer 3k/4k's or 0k/1k's ...those 2 kills 2 escapes matches are rare. Either the killer get's to snowballing and then he usually dominates and wins if not making a huge mistake or he doesn't get his foot into the door and usually loses (with the occasional endgame kill)
-
it's easy to dodge, imo much more easy than PH's Punishment which can hit through walls. The hitbox is very strict compared to Oni's M2. It only works against potatoes or as zoning tool (in this case it isn't that bad, if you mix up baiting and actually using). Or in specific places. I try to love him and had some funny games yesterday but now the MMR only sends me sweaty red ranks. He feels just so mediocre against good survivors, compared to my other killers.

I’m happy with his base kit. Ppl think shred sucks, but that’s because it isn’t used correctly most of the time. I’m fine with survivors underestimating it 😃
so, how do you use it correctly?
-
Rank definitely DOES matter. That doesn't mean that every red rank survivor has the same high skill level, but in average it's much higher than let's say the average green ranks. Of course there are rare cases of boosted-thru-swf red ranks, but those are...rare. It took me some time and experience with the game to get to red ranks, yes you can just rank up by playing a lot, but playing a lot means more experience, which means skill in the end. As i said, not every red rank is a god looper, but they don't have to be. Just do gens, don't go down after 5 sec., that's usually enough to win the game as survivor, if everyone in your team is sticking to this routine ...
i've played with some greens and yellows because of MMR and they hide in a locker because they hear a terror radius, they let you go into second state because they fear the killer is too close...
Everytime i had a sweaty killer match it was usually rank 1s or 2s involved, matches against purple squads were nearly always 4k. Like i said, there are exceptions of very good rank 8s or very bad rank 2s. And of course, you can have a bad game, especially in a game like DBD which has a lot of RNG.
For me, old matchmaking was fine, they just should have implemented a smaller rank range for matchmaking, so that you only play against +/-3 of your own rank. The biggest problem was rank 12s playing against rank 1 death squads. Would have liked to see something like that and see how it goes.
That is to say, i don't hate the new MMR yet and will give it some time. If you really have a working MMR for every single killer, that would be great, also de-ranking is not a problem anymore then. I only have to say that my survivor matches just felt very, very random till now and i've definitely made more than 20 since the introduction.

NOED is a normal perk, it has downsides:
- playing with 3 perks for nearly the entire game
- can be denied by doing totems
- can be cleansed
and it has advantages:
- insta down + faster
- can turn the game completely in rare cases.
Survivors need to get used to it and play around it as Killers do with DS, Unbreakable, DH, Adrenaline...
and IMO this happens already, most survivors learned from their past mistakes and just leave the trial if someone got downed with noed to not feed sacrifices to the killer.
I don't use it, it just feels cheap, but i also don't use second chance perks as survivor most of the time.
-
Stridor seems to be bugged again, i have issues nearly excusively when using it.
-
i just had 2 games with spirit. i have around 300-400 hours only playing her, and maybe 300-400 hours other killers. I'm not a god, but i'm ok, and she is the best killer in the game probably. I also play meta perks.
It was impossible for me to do anything. They splitted up on gens (both were probably swf, all from the same country). Only solution would be probably stay near the hook and hope for a fast save to add pressure. I tried to go after the survivors that BBQ showed me and that were on gens. They were hiding or holding W effectively when i approached the gens. I didn't chased them long. But gens were flying in both games. This for me is the true indicator that something is heavily unbalanced in this game. It's so absolutely not fun, and the new MMR gives me either this or absolute newbies with 50h in the game.
If it stays like that, i'm out for good, that's for sure. Survivors is too bland to play on a motivated, regular basis
-
i've got killer matches with full rank 1 squads and matches with 3 grey ranks. Seems like it tries to find out where i belong. Hope that it doesn't take that long, because neither matches are really fun for me...
-
I played 4 games, 3 killer 1 surv. I didn't tryhard, just wanted to see if the system works. I am red ranks in both.
- 4k with Spirit with 4 gens left - 1 red, 2 purple, 1 yellow. I actually chased 2 survs a bit longer and they didn't manage to get more than one gen done...
- 1k with Wraith (damn you, Rotten Fields!) - 2 red, 1 purple, 1 yellow. I played bad so this is ok, i'm cornblind.
- 1k with Ghostface on Yamaoke, i played good but i didn't manage my hooks, so i hooked everyone twice and only killed one. They splitted up on gens and did the ones in the middle first. Could have been much more kills if i had played more clever. - 3 reds, 1 green
- survivor match, rank 17 legion got bullied by some guys, i did 3 gens all alone... 1 red, 1 purple, 2 grey
so far i wouldn't say it works perfectly, but let's give it some time, let's the see how it goes in a week or so.

The problem with gen rush is that makes the game unfun for both sides, specially Killer...but as survivor, is not that fun to just press M1.
Chases are the most fun part of this game and if the Killer has to drop 8 of 10 chases to not lose 3 gens well that's when the game is in trouble.
that's right, it's very unfun to run around like stupid and hit survivors here and there and then just leave because some gens could be done. Diving into chases is nearly impossible in red ranks, but at some point you have to get sacrifices...
@EuphoricBliss35 said:
the Problem is: most people don’t know how to play killer. Seriously. Following someone for 80+ seconds to get one hook at the cost of 3 gens, for example, is not how you play killer. Even some killers with thousands of hours still don’t understand this
i know that's why i said "of course you're supposed to drop chases early", but it's an unfun approach to play this game like some super efficient time management simulator. Doesn't really feel like playing a killer. And survivors are kinda forced to do the objectives very fast because the longer the game continues, the killer usually gains the upper hand.

Well the Windstorms are all my favorite, all 3 are in my top 3 Add-ons for him, and for good reason. Like you said, they're not necessarily required, but they're just that good.
Swift Hunts are surprisingly average, they help incredibly little, not my favorites at all but they still give a nice effect: Uncloaking faster, and no negatives like Windstorms.
All Seeing Spirit is really nice...but i'm still of the opinion it doesn't deserve its Ultra Rare rank. Definitely Very Rare, but ehh.
Coxcombed Clapper is obviously one of his best, definitely deserves its spot up there, and i hope it'll stay like this forever.
All Seeing Blood always surprises me with how good it is, also deserves its spot and should stay this way.
Shadow Dances are weird, you gotta be cloaked (which makes sense, you gotta use the Killer's Power), but i'm hardly ever cloaked during a chase, and kicking it faster outside of a chase is just a very minor time saver. These are fantastic with Pallet meme builds though.
Blinks are close to useless, the best you can do with them is to get to your Windstorm speedboost faster.
Blind Warrior White is quite nice, while Mud is quite bad. I've seen multiple people mention how they pull off Blindness Killers, but i just don't see it.
Bone Clapper's kinda cool, i like that you can decide how your Bell works.
Obviously, The Beast is meant to be bad, but it's for extra BP. I can let such an Add-on slide in any Killer's arsenal. (Though i would still prefer a normal one, i avoid using The Beast.)
The Serpent annoys me, i barely ever cloak before kicking a Pallet they dropped, and uncloaking while outside a chase is close to useless.
Hound feels like it should be a base thing. Nevertheless, it's okay-ish if you do use it.
Ghost is weird to me, i see it as one of the worst if not used with either Clapper, but becomes very valuable in a Clapper-based build.
So i like Barbecue & Chili and Enduring on him, but i like those on most Killers. I simply like those auras, and i dislike being stunned with a passion.
As for other Perks, i like Make Your Choice on him. It's not quite like Hag's MYC + Mint Rag, but slap on any Windstorm and your chances to get that hit increase a lot more.
I also like Pop Goes The Weasel on him, especially combined with B&C. Hook someone, and if you don't know which Generator they're on mainly, there ya' go. Then just cloak, walk over there, scare them off and give it a kick.
Again not specifically tied to Wraith, but i just like Hex: Devour Hope on him. Buffing his M1 with endless Exposed is incredibly dangerous, not only does he have his sneak potential, that super-lunge CAN catch up to Sprint Burst users. (It's not easy though, you definitely need to pull off the sneak-up to make it happen.)
I used to run Spirit Fury with Enduring, and i do still like the combo if you save the charge for troublesome Pallets, but i wanted room for others mentioned here.
Save The Best For Last is always good on mr. M1, but i prefer to avoid the Obsession mechanic.
Play With Your Food synergises extremely well on him, combine it with Nemesis (and maybe Enduring) and you'll get those stacks ezpz.
Btw, imma say right here: Don't underestimate a good Wraith that uses Make Your Choice. It's been giving me nothing but great results so far.
Bamboozle's pretty funny with Shadow Dances, but otherwise it's the same as any other M1 Killer.
Mindbreaker's kinda cool...if they have Sprint Burst. Otherwise: Ehh.
Oh, and unless you're going for a meme The Beast run, you can pretty much leave Terror Radius-based Perks.
Was that too much?
Sorry if there's spelling errors, i'm not going to re-read all of that again. 😅
Thanks for the input!
I actually meant "This way you won't actually have to run Windstorm every game" (no native speaker, sry). Making Windstorm basekit would give you more variety in your builds, currently i feel that he is very weak without it.
Tbh MYC and DH sounds very good on paper and i tried DH on him sometimes. He has an easy first hit and being able to 1-hit sounds crazy. But in game it never really worked for me. DH gets cleansed to often before you get 3 stacks. But if it kicks in, it can easily win you the game. With MYC the problem was that i either wasn't outside of the 32m range because i chased someone running to the hook or that the exposed surv just hid somewhere till the timer went down. Or i found someone else. Maybe i have to adjust my playstyle first. Enduring is great of course, gonna run it some more i think.

First of all, I don't mean anything here to be disrespectful, so pleas please understand that. I main Trapper, who is one of the slowest killers to get going. He has to spend the early game setting up the map. You don't want to commit to long chases too early or you are done. I understand how fast those first few gens can go.
That said, "gen rush" claims annoy the hell out of me. What are survivors supposed to do? Hide in a locker for the first 45 seconds, the run from th locker to killer shack and back before starting a gen? They have only one objective that counts, do the gens asap. The longer a match goes, the more their chances of survival fade.
Getting upset at survivors hitting gens is as absurd as survivors getting upset at a killer for getting a hook within the first minute. We have one objective, kill the survivors.
My thoughts are that you either ran into a group who completely outclassed your skill level;happens to everyone. You perhaps made too many mistakes early? Did you commit to a long chase early in the game that cost you more time than it was worth? Be willing to break off a chase if it looks like it will take too long. Wound and move on.
Dud you tunnel or spend too much time proxy camping? A lot of killers rank up vs bad survivors in green and purple ranks only to learn that lazy strategy does not cut it so well at the higher ranks. They either whine, or learn to adjust their skills and grow.
Not enough data to know what it was. I'd suggest taking a step back and try to asses any errors you are making and correct them. That is how you get better.
Good luck.
Did you see those perks and items? 4 streetwise, 4 resilience (to make gens faster when injured), 2 prove thyself, 2 bond (to find mates to make gens faster with prove thyself), 2 toolkits with BNP. Those guys definitely wanted to do gens as fast as possible, looks like a swf to me. And that botany knowledge guy was their healer.
On the other side, no second chance or exhaustion perks, so chases shouldn't last that long. But basic knowledge about looping is probably enough in this case to make all those gens in time.
-
Wraith main here. He doesn't need a rework. He is a very simple killer, just like Leatherface, but that's not a bad thing. I play other killers too but sometimes you don't want to set up stuff or use complicated powers.
His base-capabilites need some buffs, then they can nerf some of his better add-ons to balance it out. This way you don't actually have to run Windstorm every game. As some people already said:
- make him faster while cloaked, something between yellow and green windstorm should be base kit
- improve his invisibility at distance
- Maybe decrease uncloak time a little bit, or make swift hunt add-ons stronger, the effect is barely noticeable and it's not worth running over silent bell/ bone clapper or the aura perks
- then maybe after buffing the base kit, make purple/green windstorm a bit weaker.
- "The Serpent" and "The Beast" add-ons need a rework, they're completely useless
You can use his relatively long uncloak time to mindgame short loops and unsafe pallets. But good survivors will position themselves at save vaults while you uncloak. Then you have to go through all that "play catch" and pallet eating stuff in the tile which can cost a lot of time. Besides all his great aura add ons and green/purple windstorm (which gives you a lot of map pressure compared to other killers), he is still an easily loopable m1 killer. And flashlights and spine chill still hard counter him, so his place in the lower tiers is justified.
@Boss what are your favourite perks and add-ons on Wraith? Need some change from the boring meta stuff.
-
@53nation said:
Hmm.. It appears lightweight didn't work out for them.
i had the purple all seeing add on where you see the auras in 12m distance if you're cloaked, so... yeah, it was useless
-
Mori is most of the time just a lose and depip for the survivors, sometimes some escape but most of the time it's an easy win for the killer. Had a match against an Oni with pink mori today where 2 survivors DC'd instantly after getting downed lol. I still managed to 0-pip luckily.
Maps can really set the direction of the game, hawkins is nearly always in killers favor. As killer player i hate all the Coldwind maps except Rancid Abattoir and i extremely hate Ormond, always hard matches there against better teams. Haddonfield is ok for me.
-
since BBQ got shadow nerfed and Nurses too (although not as hard since you see the auras only from a shorter distance) with the new strange auras, i will try out other options in future. Maybe Tinkerer or Discordance or Whispers instead of BBQ.
-
it's still a niche perk, you will not see it every game. I would only use it if i see 3 or more flashlights in the lobby. I never had big problems with flashlights anyway, just turn to walls or bait the save and look up. There are too many other important perks for killers than to run an anti-flashlight perk constantly.
-
i tried it with Spirit 3 times and it was actually helpful, especially in a 3-gen situation with PGTW it helped me to prolong the game. I'm glad they didn't put a cooldown on it. But if the gen is rather far away it doesn't do so much because with her phase i wasn't able to get there in time (i only had activation and post-phase addons). But that's ok i guess. Don't know if it will replace Sloppy, let's see.

Disclaimer: this is all just my opinion and based on how I prefer to play.
It’s a mid/end game perk and if survivors separate on gens, its impact is lessened pretty significantly. Personally I feel like extra early game pressure is more important since late game should be when killer pressure is at its highest. It only buys 20 seconds of gen time per kick so you need your chases to be short to be worth it, and if your chases are all short you probably don’t need it. It makes you spend time kicking gens instead of chasing, so I just personally find it annoying to use. I’d rather use the new Ruin and be aggressive with chases.
As survivor I don’t feel like I ever lose a game because of Pop. If one or two Pops are the difference between winning and losing I find that it’s because the Pop punished mistakes, but we have to make those mistakes in the first place. The only exception to this is Freddy who gets both short chases and gen teleportation, but that’s a whole different discussion. On most other killers I’d rather just run something else.
thanks, maybe i try it out instead of PGTW. I only used Ruin together with PGTW so that i have an assurance. I don't like that it's a hex perk.

Spirit is fun to play against.
People who complain about tunnelling a lot are usually just mad because they’re not good at chases or they make dumb decisions and want to blame someone else.
The reason so many killers camp is because most survivors feed it.
Pop is overrated.
Feng Min is the most annoying survivor.
why is pop overrated? i'm not sure myself if it's that good but there is no better option.
-
You're not supposed to constantly counter a killers power. That would be pretty unbalanced. Like an infinite loop against M1 killers. If the killer is good and has a lot of experience, he will win the chase, if you're better at mindgaming, you "win" for that moment, which means gaining time and waisting the killers momentum while the others do gens or heal. If even mediocre or above average survivors could just endlessly make the (good) killer miss, how can those killers win the game? Just M1 everyone with 110% speed?
Most of the chase-based killers have other downsides like no map pressure, being slower or no stalling.
As someone said before, there are loops that are just pure 50/50 guessing for the M1 killer as well, but nobody does threads about those loops. Mindgaming and waisting/ gaining time is a big part of the game.
-
why all these threads lately, is this some kind of agenda to get her nerfed next?

Unfortunately you get a lot of people who think winning is fun. As in, the only way to have fun in this game is to "win." 4K, 3K, whatever they think, if they don't get that, they don't have fun.
A lot of people don't live in the moment, they live for the victory. The victory determines what is fun, not the experience.
That's a problem i have too. I really would like to enjoy the game more, especially the killer side. But i'm too competitive and end up being frustrated over the game. I think a part of this attitude comes from survivors that "train" you to be like that. When you lose, survivors don't hold back with their "ez baby killer" messages, even if you made it really hard for them to escape. That instigates fear of losing again and being the dumb jerk. From all the PvP games i played, DbD has the most toxic potential and community, not because the people are bad in general but because the game contains so much frustration potential by design. You play really good but lose due to RNG, maps, got "perked" or survivors coordinate over voice comm.
Especially the first week after rank reset is always horrible, seems like all the sweaty swf's come out again to get to rank 1 and then leave the game till next season. The last week before the reset i made it back to rank 1 and stayed there and thought "nice, you've impoved!" only to get trashed after reset in nearly 50% of the games
-
in one of my first matches as Demoboi i got, of course, rushed and outplayed and the last survivor, a Kate came to me instead of going to hatch or exit and wanted to be hooked because she felt sorry for me. In after game chat she told me she wants to encourage me to keep learning the Demo because no one uses him. That felt kinda nice and that was the only time in over 1000h playtime a survivor came to me and wanted to be hooked because of mercy.
I also got multiple compliments for giving hatch, i do it usually if there is an early DC because i know how stupid it feels from a survivor side.
Also got actually one time where a dwight complimented my skills with Spirit, usually i only get hate.
-
There is definitely a difference between, let's say red rank survivors and green rank survivors in terms of skill. Of course you can't throw every red rank survivor in the same pot, there is huge variety, but the game isn't all about looping and juking. If you're not the best in chases but you have a good game sense, know when and how to help your team, when to do which gens and when go to unhook, you can be a good and helpful survivor too. Only because you follow the killer with your flashlight all game long because you're decent at looping, doesn't mean you're a good survivor or actually helpful for your team.
I never got heavily outplayed or rushed by a team of purple or green rank survivors. In fact, matches against those survivors are the ones where i actually can get 12 hooks and don't have to slug or go after the weakest link at some point to have a chance.
Nevertheless, total playtime is usually a much better indicator of "game difficulty" for me (killer and survivor). Even if you're a slow learner, more than 2000 hours in a game will make you decent and experienced enough to know what you're doing.
-
Please show me all the crazy 4k spirits, 90% spirits i see are average. Yes, if she hits you and then uses her phase, she is deadly, but even then you can still waste her time a bit, while your mates hold M1. Stridor makes pinpoint your exact location difficult, that's why a lot of high rank spirits don't use it. And even if you use it to counter iron will, your grunts are only 50% which is an insane difference from like 10m away. Of course, it helps if you phase right through them, but the difference to the super loud normal survivors can still throw you off.
I've once logged 60 matches in red ranks that i've made with her and Wraith and my kill-per-game ratio with her was even slightly lower than with low-tier Wraith (1,9 & 2,1 kills per game). That "coinflip" thing, it's not only the case for survivors, also for her if you're not injured. Scratchmarks are unreliable and especially if you try to hit directly coming out of phase, she's high risk-high reward. Spirit is a lot about prediction and a wrong gamble can cost you much needed time in high rank matches. I don't want to argue that she's currently the best killer in the game, but she's not an automatic win in higher ranks, who are trained to play against her. Imho she has insane potential but most Spirits make mistakes, i like to play against her.
If she would be "easy and unskillful" to play, you would see a lot more Spirits in red ranks. I see a lot of NOED, a lot of Moris, a lot of pink add ons, a lot of other good killers. It's not like most killer players want a great challenge. They just want wins, that's why scummy playstyles and said add ons/items and meta perk setups are so common. it's their reaction to the current state of the game, where winning as killer feels highly random and based on survivor mistakes and where losing makes you feel helpless for a whole game.
-
i main Spirit besides Wraith, Ghostface and Demo in red ranks, i also played against her a lot.
So first, she is definitely one of the strongest killers in the game. I will not argue that, but i also don't see a problem with that.
A lot of players saying she is braindead and "ez 4k", that's just not true. If it would be like that, you would see a lot more Spirits. I play in Middle Europe, and i see maybe 1 in 20 games when playing survivor. And don't tell me it's because "Killers want a challenge", most killers are desperate for the 4k and use everything they can (NOED, Mori, playing "scummy") to win, because they're like rank 7-12 and face red ranks constantly. In fact, a lot of Killer player don't play her because she's not that easy to play, she is no Nurse but you will get trashed by better survivors if you don't know what you do. There are strong killers that are easier to play than her (looking at you, Freddy!). Furthermore, most of the Spirits i faced weren't good, most were mediocre. Of course there are some strong ones in red ranks that killed me easily, but what's the problem with that? I've met Clowns and Trappers that killed my swf at 3 gens left, some Killers have over 3000h in this game and are just very good. Playing with her, i've had more than enough matches with 0 kills.
I agree, it's often like a coinflip, will she phase around the window? Will she wait at the window for the double back? But i've played against survivors that seemed in my head and constantly knew what i was going to do. If you just mindlessly run to pallets and wait, of course you will die, you can't react to her after-phase lunge. Try to throw the pallet down early on longer loops, so she has to phase around and lose her power. Try to mix this up with throwing down the pallet, but stay on the same side as Spirit and walk back slowly, she will phase to the other side as long as she doesn't hear any vault. It's actually hard to locate survivors exactly (which side they are at pallets or windows), especially with Stridor, you can't hear the difference while phasing. And yes, Stridor soft-counters Iron Will. But it's only 50%, which means, if you throw her off and she goes into another direction, she can't hear you anymore after some metres. She can only locate you if she is phasing exactly over/around you. Moreover, there are some sound bugs happening here and there.
Remember, wasting her time is the path to victory. After losing her power, she is an easily loopable 110% Killer for some time, and 2 or 3 wrong guesses from her side can mean she looses the game against good teams that sit on gens. Try to be creative, she is crazy good in theory but most Spirits aren't that terryfing, to be honest. My kill ratio with her is the same as with Wraith, around 2 kills per game (i've actually logged that for some time). And only because you can't loop her around the classic way like a Wraith or Trapper doesn't mean she is OP.

i love indoor and urban maps for the looks and atmosphere (except "the game"). I'm kinda tired of the bland, mat green, yellow and brown/grey scheme of the Coldwind, Sutohaven and swamp maps (the blue theme of MacMillan is ok-ish). That there are numerours maps of this same old theme doesn't make it better.
Does anyone know how the algorithm works? Does every map have the same possibility of getting selected (so that you actually have a higher possibility to go to some Coldwind or Autohaven map because there are 5 of them)?
Or is there a draw between the different themes (that means, Coldwind theme has the same possibility as Yamaoke theme or Red Forest theme) and then it picks one of the maps of this theme randomly?
I think it's the first one, although there are 5 Springwood maps and i don't get this theme as often as Coldwind, MacMillan or Autohaven, which also have 5 different maps each.

I never use bloody party streamers or any offering the gives 100% BP to everyone anymore. Because the other side starts to play like ****. As survivor, i got tunneled and facecamped today with the anniversary offering. As killer, i stopped taking BPS some time ago because every time the survivors played super toxic, genrushed or just played very unfun. They assume probably that i will play super sweaty because of the 100% but the truth is, i usually try to make the game fun for everyone. Maybe i just had bad luck, but it happened many times.

I don't have an S-category because i don't think there are any completely broken killers right now. I also don't like Tiermaker lol.
A+ = Nurse
A = Spirit, Freddy
A- = Oni, Hillbilly
B+ = Doctor, Huntress, Pyramid Head
B = Deathslinger, Hag, Pig, Ghostface, Plague
B- = Myers, Legion
C = Wraith, Trapper, Demogorgon
D = Clown, Leatherface
Nurse is still very good, i played against some crazy russian Nurse Players lately.
Some saying that Oni has the worst early game, i don't think it's the worst. And as soon as he gets going, he has his ability almost everytime, if played halfway decent. His M2 has a crazy hitbox and is easy to land if you know a little bit about his flick. I'm not good with him but i could turn matches that seemed lost in seconds.
Pig is kinda underrated, but that's maybe me always having bad RNG against her lol. Anyway she can drag matches.
Legion is very popular right now and i've seen some strong ones. They're not very deadly but annoying, if survivors don't have enough patience and stamina they will lose.
Wraith can give good results if played with good add ons and hit&run-technique, but good survivors just heal up fast and loop you to death, because at some point you have to get your hooks and commit to chases.
Trapper can be a nightmare on some maps and i've met some very good ones since hitting red ranks, but if he has a bad start it's kinda game over. You have to be very good in this game in general, if you want to be a good Trapper (also true for every other low tier M1 killer).
I kinda regret spending so much BP on Demoboy. I love the character but i just can't get to terms with him. I'm used to stealth killers and now everyone hears what i'm doing. His portals are meh. Also his shred only works for zoning, the situations where you can actually use it to down someone are spare. You can say that's me not being good with him and that's true, but i haven't seen any good Demo since ages.

Since the update, killer waiting times are way longer, but survivor times are nearly instant. And not only for one night, thats almost 3 days now. Very strange
-
I use Discordance 3 because i wanted the slot in the bloodweb to be gone. Also the permanent audio cue of Discordance 1 is annoying (if you're in a chase or something), one time is enough for me to know that 2 survivors are at the gen or nearby when i arrive.

when goes the new matchmaking system online?

I don't get the obsession with DS that some killers have, i never had bigger problems with it. Except you down someone with active DS at the open exit, then you can't play around it - outplayed i guess.
Dead Hard is far more "OP" for me and costs me a lot of matches if survivors use it to gain distance to reach another loop. Such a time-waster. Another 20 seconds in a chase can cost you some gens. If you're sure they have DS, just slug. It forces them off gens.

From my experience as killer and survivor, rank definitely gives a rough indication of skill. That doesn't mean that every red rank survivor is very good, because you can definitely get there with enough patience (i'm the best example lol). But stating that many red ranks are on par with green ranks is not true. Being a good survivor doesn't necessarily mean you're a god-like looper, you can also just be very good at decision making and escape because of that. Red ranks play more optimal than purples, they don't self care if not necessary, they don't 3-gen themselves as often, they don't do unsafe unhooks as often, they generally don't waste as much time. As i said, not every red rank survivor, but the tendency goes into this direction when you play against red ranks.
I'm currently floating between rank 4-5 as killer. If gens are flying and the game is over before i had the chance to snowball, it's usually all red ranks. When i 4k at 3 gens it's usually mixed with greens/yellows in it or the majority is purple. Of course there are those matches where you look at the scoreboard and wonder "oh lord they were all red ranks?" but most of the time i can predict their ranks pretty good, at least the color. I never got "outplayed" by purple and green rank squads in the way that i still get "outplayed" by red rank squads sometimes even tho i'm a red rank killer myself (i barely play against full purple squads tho).
For killer ranks, i have to say it feels more random, but the direction is the same. Sometimes they're rank 9 and owning me (rank 2) and my red rank swf. But i generally don't feel much difference between green and purple rank killers. It feels like if it comes down to them having a good start, good RNG, good map, us making several mistakes. If i play against a killer rank 1-3 (rare occasion), you defintely feel a difference at loops, they mindgame and predict much better instead of just "force" through the chase, in addition they drop chases earlier to pressure the gens.

I hope the update of graphics means also a balanced performance so less resources needed and older laptops can run it
That's also my hope. I can run better looking games, so let's see. But dbd is running on lowest possible settings and the framerate is OK, 30-40fps, but it shouldn't be lesser than that

How does your game run on lery's in comparison to other maps?
my game runs better on lerys than on the other maps (have the most problems with ormond and red forest). what does that mean?

Killer:
If there are 3 or more items in the lobby, i take Franklin's Demise with me. It's sooo useful, not because of the damage it does to the items, but because survivors will go hundreds of miles only for getting back their flashlights and medikits. It costs them time, and if they leave it behind they can't heal alone/ blind you/ repair faster. Before, i was dodging most lobbys with stuff like 4 flashlights, now i just take FD and annoy them back.
Enduring+Spirit Fury, although not regularly, comes to use from time to time. Good survivors will drop pallets early if they notice it, but it gives you 1-3 free hits in a game usually.
Surv:
Stake Out is cool since i play stealthy, it helps you doing objectives faster since i can't hit perfect skill checks regularly with my relatively low FPS.
Bond replaced Self-care for me mostly, it's so much more useful.
Small Game is cool and i use it from time to time, since NOED is a thing and Devour Hope or Ruin isn't that rare. And of course for the points.

Just don't expect to 3k or 4k every time, a 0k against good Survivors is normal, if you try to pressure everyone. If you really want the kills, you have to play a little bit more "dirty".
Most of the games go in either one direction (either 0-1k or 3-4k), which is part of the frustration i think. I barely have balanced matches, but i will make a thread about it soon (got some statistics of my games for the last 2 weeks).
That is to say, survivor can be fun with friends or for the quick game in between, but i couldn't "nerd" it the way i nerd killer games. But because of the focussed nature of killer games, i can only play maximum 3 games in a row before i'm too stressed out.
Some tipps that really helped me:
- watch good streamers, it helps so much
- watch tutorials about running tiles & loops and playing killer in general on Youtube
- it's all about managing your time, commit & drop chases, run loops correctly & thus end chases faster, 3 gen-setups
I made a post similar to this while i was at high green/low purple ranks. Now i'm at red ranks. Just keep on going. Nonetheless, i can understand your frustration, i still get owned by good squads. Just dodge lobbys where everyone is from the same country, is in friends list of each other, have over 2k hours in the game, have similar names etc., that helps also a lot.

more Demogorgon (wanna pet cute demo boi) and Pig
less Freddy, Doctor, Legion and Deathslinger

Hit&Run-Wraith (drop chases early for map pressure)
- Sloppy or Devour Hope, Nurses, BBQ, Pop
"I don't care about your pallets"-Wraith (commit to chases till at least 2 pallets are gone)
- Enduring, Spirit Fury, BBQ, Pop
"I hate kicking gens"-Spirit
- Ruin, Surveillance, Sloppy, Nurses
Well rounded Spirit build aka "she is so OP!"
- Stridor (for countering Iron Will) or Sloppy (if you don't like Stridor), Nurses, BBQ, Pop
Pretty standard Oni Build (just learning him yet)
- Infectious Fright, Monitor & Abuse, BBQ, Pop
-
The problem is the voice comm, and that you don't know if the swf is playing with voice comm at all. Swf without voice comm isn't that OP, the only advantages it gives them is:
- you know which skill level all your teammates have
- you can set up your perks so they synergize with each other
- you can make up a basic matchplan ("we do the gen in the middle first", "i run the killer around", "i have BT, so i go for unhooks")
- drawback: they tend to be very altruistic and help each other even in situations where they should just leave
i sometimes play in a 4 man swf without voice comm (because of language barrier) and we lose against better killers as much as i lose against better killer when i play solo.
But i was playing in a 2-man swf with voice comm for 1 month or so... even just 2 people with voice comm gives you an incredible advantage, i don't wanna know how OP a 4 man voice comm squad is. Sometimes we just wanted to chill and talked stupid #########, but if we wanted to win, we told each other what was going on around us constantly. Which killer is it? Where are you? Where is the killer? Which generators are being worked on currently? Where are some pallets left? What are our 2 team members doing? I saw a burning totem there! Let's meet at place xy for healing! let's meet at crucial generator xy for repairing! i go to this exit gate, lets meet there!
And let's not talk about all that "advanced" stuff like "i'm in the left locker at killer shack, lead him there for head on", we didn't try that...
Sure, if the killer is way better than you in chases, no voice comm can help you but it definitely gives you an tactical advantage over the killer, and that's only 2 people! That's why i dodge every lobby where all survivors come from the same country, when i play killer.
-
They split up a lot more now. I also noticed that when playing survivor. If we all start together, they don't try to rush the nearest gen, but spread over the map (not every time, but a lot more than before). This makes it more difficult to pressure the gens for Killers, especially if you play a loopable, basic M1 Killer.
-
i had the same happening to me yesterday night while playing Killer. A Nea was running in front of me straight into the borderwall of the map and disappeared. First i thought it was a weird latency issue or she DC'd, because sometimes when they DC, the husk runs straight until it disappears.
It was a deadzone, there was no place where she could hide nearby. She didn't even try to let it look like normal gameplay, that's why i thought it was just a weird bug. She then healed up and in the endgame i saw her again. Another player of that squad had hacking allegations in his steam profile comments.
I have no prove, only a screenshot of the results, but of course i reported her.

I'll just correct you with this:
Freddy only has 1 Passive Ability, and it's the passive sleeping mechanic. Which you can easily get out of.
He doesn't have passive slowdown if he doesn't bring the slowdown add-ons (Even though they are basically worthless and useless with how little they delay generator repairs).
His two other abilities, that being Snares/Pallets and Teleportation still requires input from the player to do fairly well with.
That's why i put it in brackets, but i count his intermittently invisibility as another passive ability.
It's maybe easy to get out of, but it's a huge time waste nonetheless. You either run to the other side of the map for the alarm clock, find another survivor which isn't always possible in solo queue or you miss a skill check, which shows him your position and regresses the gen. In addition, the last both will let you fall asleep soon again.
Yeah it needs input but it isn't that hard to use, to be honest. He just has a lot of easy tools which makes him difficult to play against and makes a lot of mediocre players play with him at higher ranks. In the end, i just don't like to play against him.
Don't wanna say he needs a nerf, i play a lot of killer and having valuable killers is good for the game. But although she is getting hated and labeled "easy mode" by a lot of players, i find a good performing Spirit to be more impressive. She can be countered and mindgamed, one wrong guess and you either lost that Iron Will-survivor or you are a 110% M1 Killer getting looped, which costs you a lot of valuable time against red ranks.
-
Jakes, especially with that marauder outfit, tend to be those "i'm gonna distract the killer so he hopefully chases me the whole game"-guys.
Megs, Claudettes, Fengs etc. are so common that i can't really say anything generalizing about them. Had good ones, had bad ones.
For killers, Freddy & Doc
- Freddys are mostly bad at basic M1 Killer gameplay (running tiles etc.) and tend to get carried by their numerous (passive) abilities. Anything that makes survivors hold M1 even longer is boring and they tend to use perks like Tana and Ruin that even increases this
- Doctor is just super annoying with all that screaming, it's hard to not get found by him
Although i like that Red Dead Redemption western scenery, the Deathslinger has this scumbag attitude and an assholish, annoying laughter.

It depends on what tunneling is for you. Tunneling for me is, if you proxy camp or go straight back to the hook after an unhook and then chase the unhooked one, ignoring the better options (eg putting pressure on other survivors).
But if the best option is "going after the weakest link", maybe because the others are too good or you can't find anyone, i will not spare the unhooked one. It happens too often that they run straight into my arms. Also, if they start working on generators etc., it's not tunneling for me anymore. There are also a lot of unsafe unhooks. On some matches it's tough to come into as killer, survivors usually don't spare me and use every of my mistakes, why shouldn't i. I know that it can be frustrating for survivors, but the distinction between tunneling and not tunneling is blurry.
If i feel i dominate the game, i usually have mercy, even if they do an unsafe unhook or the injured survivor runs straight into me - because they will die soon anyway...
