  • Erm... you know who developed this game right?

Do you remember the "QOL" update that they did where they made it so you could stun or blind the killer at any point during the pick up animation because they thought it was too hard for rank 20s to do?

Yeah.. these same devs previously did an update to reduce the blind from 180 degrees to killer fov size (30 degrees?). Survivors naturally balled their eyes out on the forums and scared the devs into reducing it and they made it just outside the killer fov, but only just.

It seems they have been slowly increasing it back to 180 deg in the hopes killers don't notice.

you can see it in action on tru3tallents stream yesterday where he turns away from a flashlight and it continues to blind him when it shouldn't.

  • I play both sides.

As killer there isn't anything to expect from survivors, killers expect the DEVS to limit survivors in some way or change the way the game functions.

As survivor, i expect the other 3 to be doing generators when not being chased instead of..... what ever else they are doing? To win as survivor, all you need is 2 people on gens at all times and the game is over for killer.

If you want to see why killers win, just equip bond and play solo and see for yourself.

The game also seems to pool players closest to your area so you will see the same people over and over again. If the survivors in your area are good, then you will see killer as under powered and see the true state of the game. If the survivors closest to you are bad then you come on the forums saying everything is fine and you 4k most of your games.

  • This is a survivor benefit so will never be changed.

If it was a benefit to killer tho you bet it would be changed in a week.

  • Hope the survivors closest to you are bad and you will instantly be good.

There is a reason everyone seems to have a vastly different experience and it isn't "skill" in such a basic game as this as all killers have a literal limit to what they can do.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/126393/after-3-2k-hours-of-being-main-killer-i-stopped-playing-killer

So you say you have 3.2k hours which means you probably started playing when vacuum pallets were still a thing, bt gave endurance to both survivors and every loop had double pallets. My question is how were you able to play the game back then if it was way harder and a lot more frustrating for killers than it is now?

There isn't much difference between pallets being directly next to each other and pallets being 8m away from each other when a survivor runs at 4m/s it is essentially the same thing and no real change was made by that update.

  • Naturally the side with the most problems and largest imbalance will be the loudest on any forum, no matter what game it is.

Survivor bugs- fixed in 1 week tops

Killer bugs- Its a new feature!

Or 6 months to 2 years to fix as long as it is not detrimental to survivors.

As unhappy as I am about the audio, I realize that it's a more complicated issue than the broken DS.

I am however unhappy that they fixed the Legion flashlight bug immediately (how big of an issue was that, really?) but Spirit's phase audio is still broken and playing within her TR, and I don't think I've ever even seen the devs acknowledge that it's an issue despite that people have been bringing it up for a long time, now.

    Probably not actually a bug.

  • Well, you are playing solo.

Equip bond and look at how how many survivors are doing generators, i would guess the number is 0-1 at best.

Yes, you do pop on a survivior, TR is 32m, blink range is 20m, so you need to travel only the 12 meters. So unless the survivior runs the ######### away as soon as he hears your TR, you can blink to them. Dont forget Monitor & Abuse exists and it reduces your TR to 24m, allowing you to blink almost immediately. And thats without range addons.

What I say is not true on an empty field, if tou want surprise them then they cant see you, so it works best when there are obstacles obstructing surviviors vision. Again, use obstacles, so they dont see you, good surviviors always can predict, but thats what you have chain Blink for. Even if they outplay you, you still have 12m blink.

Cant argue about Dead Hard because I dont have an access to statistics how many blinks are stopped by it, but I know that reaction DH is very hard, and you cant DH predict nurse in the 0.5s between blink and hit. I dont play often against Nurse bacause she is a rare killer and I dont play that much as a Nurse because she is hard, but its not like I dont play at all.

Im not saying bugs should not be fixed, Im saying that bugs do not affect the fact that she has the strongest power. And you just said that Devs fixed Sanctum of Wrath. They ARE fixing Nurse bugs.

Again, Bubba is weaker because his power only works at the end of a chase, this means that unlike Nurse he can be easily looped.

I thought he was talking about getting to basement by accident, not because of a bug.

43% killrate proves that she is hard to learn and that most people suck at her, but it does not mean she is not strong in the right hands.

You do know that nurse has a husk that shows the survivor where she is blinking to right?

  • No second chance perk is balanced. I know why they are in the game, but that does NOT make them balanced.

It is because of this imbalanced hand holding, and focus on survivors "FUN" at the expense of the killer, that we have huge wait times on survivor and they are now going to hide ranks and just shove everyone in one giant pool.

Lie all you want devs but we know there will be no mmr.

  • She is still strong, but her map pressure got destroyed and large maps will force you to lose if survivors are on coms and not stupid.

She is easier to avoid and waste her time if you know what you are doing and it isn't the nurse players fault.

I really don't understand these survivor mains who just sit there and preach "just hit your blinks" we all know every blind blink is a 50/50 shot in the dark on what the survivor is doing, and if they KNOW what they are doing then they will abuse the 3rd person perspective camera and avoid you.

I still play her without addons when i am sick of being looped and want to use bp on other killers, but a good survivor who doesn't run predictable paths like the rank 20s ("rank 1") you see in streamer games, will put you in your place.

  • They have already killed the current ranking system.

You pass wind and pick your nose as survivor with multiple chances to FAIL MASSIVELY but still pip because the requirements are easy to get.

You make one mistake and sweat your nuts off as killer and get a black pip or depip if the survivors hold m1.

  • The big question is why are only 2 generators being done? if all 4 survivors split up, then 3 gens should get done easily.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/124751/why-do-the-developers-love-survivors-so-much

Doc is capable of cancelling loops you just dont use it right, Ruin is a bad change for now but will be better once toolboxes are adressed. DS got changed for the killers. They didnt buff exhaustion perks, balanced landing got nerfed, all the others were like this for a good while. And nobody is leaving the game believe me.

If the devs have a "survivor bias", killer mains have a "killer bias" too. And I am one.

DS got BUFFED from its pervious version

Balance got changed because they could not be BOTHERED to fix the maps

On the topic of maps, they are moving at a snails pace and the lerys update has proven that they will not make them better for killers. They may get rid of the god window loop that is on most maps, but will replace it with 12 fully safe and lengthy pallets/ jungle gyms that lead into each other instead.

  • @ProfessorDunwich said:

This is ideally how the game is supposed to be played. With the Ruin nerf there is no way Killers can play this way. Slugging, Camping, and/or Tunneling are required to win. The math does not add up.

Even with slugging and camping you won't win against a decent team.

It only works on randoms like knock out only works on randoms.

  • Dead hard is a hard counter to nurse. Every survivor that runs it requires 3 successful blind guesses behind cover to down.

  • Don't worry, the sound nerf has taken care of loud survivors. Killers can't hear them anyway.

  • Removing chests and keys from the game when?

  • Playing against swf who hold M1 on gens, because that is literally all that is required to beat any and all killers as proven by "depip squad"

Playing as survivor and nobody does gens, the simplest thing you can do in this game and it guarantees a win.

  • @TragicSolitude said:

It's an exhaustion perk, they can only use it once per chase. Try to remember to bait it out. If you get right up on the survivor's ass, give it a few seconds before you swing; most survivors will use their Dead Hard once your red stain is on their back, so if you don't swing at them, they waste it. They also like to run straight at the killer and Dead Hard through them, so don't automatically swing if a survivor runs at you unless you've already seen them use a different exhaustion perk.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1034607#Comment_1034607

1 and 3 are masterpieces. 2 is meh. I don't know what you're talking about with "only the last 2"; there's nothing after Die Hard With a Vengeance. Hear me? NOTHING.

You seem to think people use DH to escape a hit?!?!?!

Dead hard is used to reach unreachable windows or loops, and to extend chases on already strong loops like god windows, nobody uses it to miss a hit unless they are extremely out of position.

Yeah, and I like that they're trying to get survivors to try something different than the regular meta. This isn't a good thing?

The only way to break up the meta is to nerf or delete current meta perks, or make other perks stronger and easier to use (MOM) then current perks.

  • @Sonzaishinai said:

Letting the outer gens go makes the map smaller in a way

Being mindfull of wich gens to patrol is actually really good advice for killers strugling with pressure

The only reason to go to the outer gens is at the beginning of the match if you think survivor spawned there

You are not giving up 40% of your objective. Your objective isn't defend 5 gens it's sacrifice as many survivors and that works best if you make your patrol area as smal as possible

Once again really good advice that killers actually should listen too

All 3 genning does is painfully prolong the inevitable.

You either give chase and lose a gen, or you patrol gens and watch them sloooooowly get completed but nobody dies.

  • @JakConstantine said:

I was wondering is this connected to survivor movement sounds? Cause playing as killer you can't hear them very well. Mainly survivors footsteps.

Edit: Just saw the previous post about it and it appears to be a different issue.

Oh no, survivors being mute is an intended feature.

Also, don't blame this on Survivors not being able to get the skill checks.

No one complained. Ruin was annoying, but manageable.

You can blame it on killers for using the perk in 80% of games for lack of ideas. Hence the devs had to nerf it. They will nerf all powers that are used all the time.

I would say specific survivor perks are used even more... but you know, survivors are the main focus of this game because they are whales.

Killers can fo and sit in a corner, be a good bot and enjoy the participation trophy.

  • What skill?

For a killer to be "outplayed" there needs to be some form of counterplay with the base mechanics of the game, and there isn't.

If a survivor knows the safe spots then the killer has already lost, everything is so safe in this game that it isn't funny.

  • @altruistic said:

It is very humorous to me reading all these tears threads.

How heavily reliant so many were on one perk, and it’s gets a change and the world is burning.

There’s an old saying, “don’t put all your eggs into one basket.”

Interesting how most say a perk that would last them the first 30 seconds of every game changes, and suddenly playing Killer is near impossible.

30 seconds that survivors either did nothing, worked on gens and failed skillchecks, or worked on gens for the full 80 seconds with no "great skillcheck" bonuses

Now they just hop on the gen and get the full 30 seconds of progression or more.

  • @twistedmonkey said:

Remember those perks were changed in the past after a huge amount of complaints 😉.

Yeah, they got nerfed and then they got buffed back to full strength or even better.

Only played 1 match and got chased by a camping Leatherface for 9 straight minutes and escaped so that was fun.

The fact that you can do that perfectly highlights how badly balanced the game is.

There should never be a way to 1v1 a killer for 9 minutes.

  • They do shadow nerfs all the time.

If you want to mess with a nurse, just stand under a pallet and drop it when she teleports 99.9999999% of the time she will be stunned.

  • Dude, killers are just AI. Nothing they complain about matters, infact they need to be nerfed more, as the next set of stats will show after bunching up green and purples into red ranks, since they removed rank reset.

  • From my experience GG is mostly only ever said when the survivors win. Any other time and i am met with silence.

From what i can tell, "GG" is just used to rub salt in wounds

  • @28_stabs said:

I play a few games as Hagarina. My perks are: BBQ for bp, NOED to punish nasty survivors, Rancor to remind survivors that Im killer and Deer Stalker to never let careless survivors escape. I set my trap zone and guard it. Survivors get hurt when they come close and, if they continue, I do my best to down them. Ideal match for me is when survivors dont go off hooks.

Sounds horrible for randoms, nice work i guess.

It is a borderline free down every time it's up on someone like bubba, billy, myers, etc. it's a free hit on everyone else. 2 pallets really doesn't take that long to burn through.

Yeah, but some figure it out because of enduring and just drop the pallet one lap earlier so i don't get stunned.

  • @Apple2o said:

You can just slap on spirit fury + enduring if you don't want to deal with all the pallet looping. I use bamboozle instead though, because I don't have time to deal with looping jungle gyms, the shack, or god-windows in a game that can last 3-4 minutes if you are not quickly downing people.

I gave that combo a chance but by the time you get to use it the game is already over.

  • @w_sohl said:

Just watching killers play the PTB.  I don't understand how anyone on the killer side can complain about it.  If you are running Surveillance you'll know where Survivors are at all times. It's like Kindred, but on till totem is cleansed.  The moment they hop off the gen you get the regression indicator, the moment they hop on you get the indicator that the gen has stopped regressing.  Just watching Tru and some others play killer on the PTB, this is not a nerf to Ruin, it's a buff.

What good does knowing where a survivor is do, if you still need to chase them in circles?

Knowing where survivors are does not remove pallets and second chance perks fro the game.

Every time you chase a survivor, 3 others are ticking away at the gens.

  • corrupt does nothing.

it does not block all gens

It does not stop gens being done at normal speed or prevent toolboxes\

    It only lasts 2 minutes

Survivors can just wait it out and you are down to 3 perks

You are still only 1 killer v 4 survivors, you can only chase 1 survivor at a time and there is nothing to prevent the others sitting on the gens.

  • They essentially removed ranks by changing rank reset to only drop you one tier red to purple etc. Survivor is so easy that everyone is starting to bunch up at red ranks through sheer play time rather than skill, while killers don't want to be red ranks and their emblem is difficult to pip with.

  • Play killer for bp and survivor to relax.

All playing survivor did was make me even more disgusted at survivor mains that complain about the state of the game, because i know for a fact how easy it is.

  • Shards are a token gesture to entice people to go to the store, if / when they earn enough for a piece of cosmetic gear, in thew hope that they will get addicted and throw money at them.

They will NEVER increase it because they want you to cash out.

I am generally of the same viewpoint, which is why I'm altogether against the change.

But no need to tag Peanits, he's answered this exact question before and I can show you his response:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/253/YIGWCT5RIZ7Z.png

Just because we didn't personally see people dodging lobbies doesn't mean it wasn't happening. In fact, I've seen a lot of people on these forums saying things to the effect of "I wish they had left it in because it let me know when to dodge".

Basically, the reasoning behind the change is lobby dodging increases queue times, and since the devs are currently making efforts to reduce queue times, allowing a feature to remaining the game which indirectly increased them would be counter-productive to that goal.

As I said, I personally don't agree with the decision since I think that even taking that into consideration, the feature was a net good, but I understand why they felt it was necessary to remove it.

    This was a fake answer.

The real answer as we now know is, "We intend to remove ranks all together and hide it in the lobby and end game screen, so nobody can complain any more and we can be lazy and not care. PLZ BUY COSMETICS!!"

  • @TragicSolitude said:

If I bother to play (if), I play more killer than survivor (at least right now, because faster queue times; I used to be more 50/50) and am sitting at rank 19 right now because I screw around rather than playing "for real." If I don't sacrifice anyone I can usually get a lot of BP without pipping, which is how I like it. Or I meme around, which is no pipping but also no BP.

I can't be the only killer who's like "screw this, I'm gonna chill," so I'm sure that's not helping survivors who want actual challenging matches, either. Noob killer or lazy killer, the resulting match is the same.

I got reported for doing this because i wouldn't chase them like a robot around the safe loops.

  • They haven't fixed it because it isn't a bug.

  • @Respectfulnancymain said:

Or maybe just pick them up lol. 5 seconds isnt that long and if u slug you risk getting dsed at the gate

a 5 second stun gives the survivor 20m of distance from the killer in a straight line, the killer catches up at 0.6mps taking 41.7m of ground to catch up and 10.6? seconds to do so in a straight line.

Given that pallets have a minimum spawn distance of 8m, your chase is going to be significantly extended.

I want this game to be enjoyable and not forcing me to sweat out of my butthole.

I guess the devs want to keep the majority of the playerbase happy, cause this will mean more income for them.

It is quite boring as survivor actually.

The sad part is that even as mediocre as i am at survivor (still rank 1 btw LOL), i know the killer is "sweating out of their butthole" just to catch me. Everything is so damn safe, and 3 lives + extra life perks just makes it even easier.

Almost every loop has a spot that you can stand at to know exactly what the killer is doing, the shack is full of holes to remove any and all mind games, the entire thing is designed for someone sitting on a couch with a controller and a short attention span, while the killer gets overwhelmed by the ticking clock.

    GAH!

Such a mean post... You sure you aren't a killer main? :)

If you play at rank 1 survivor, then how much does ruin actually affect you? Do you just plow through ruin or go looking for the totem? If you just plow through it, then you see why the Ruin change doesn't affect you. If you go looking for the totem... Well you can still do that, once you touch a gen for a second, and stop you'll see if they have Ruin. So.. basically nothing changes for you as survivor.

You rarely play killer... So why does it matter? Just for the odd time you do?

    BOOYAH!!!

    --

People should look at it differently...

Maybe the Devs want to see how things go in Live.

Maybe there is other ideas they have to go along with the Ruin change, but are holding back to see how the first change goes.

I wouldn't mind if they tested balance changes in game, if they didn't only update the game 4 times a year.

We need quick changes to perks, and feedback taken notice of to revert or keep changes.

This snail pace approach to balance is horrible.

  • Have you ever played a game as killer above purple?

  • They break out the popcorn like everyone else and have a laugh.

I think that is about as far as feedback goes anyway.

Spirit and Ghostface I found to be the most effective. Legion and Plague only need Thana because survivors don't heal against them anyway. I don't play Wraith or Myers but yea it's good for them too.

I also found it effective on Trapper, Nurse, and Clown.

What ends up happening is that survivors start healing to get rid of Thana but then because of Sloppy it takes a lot of time to heal. Once you get them sucked into that healing vortex you can keep them busy for a while and off gens. If they decide to forgo healing for gens, well they are slowed down by Thana. It's a catch 22; either spend a lot of time healing or spend a lot of time doing gens.

I find my survivors just ignore it and sit on gens.

Thana doesn't stop gen progress, it is actually rare for survivors to bother healing in most of my games as killer or survivor and i don't heal either.

It is to easy to waste the killers time and you have to many lives and second chance perks.

  • @thesuicidefox said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/992597#Comment_992597

Not assuming. I use this combo on a few killers it is very effective for a hit and run style.

If you are the type to chase one survivor until you down them, no it won't work.

I am guessing wraith ghost face and legion?

Everyone else you can run from and get to a loop path thanks to the terror rad.

  • @thesuicidefox said:

I switched to Corrupt for both Huntress and Trapper since those are the only 2 killers I really use Ruin often.

For Huntress it's nice because it's less gens to patrol at the start meaning you can find survivors grouped up more and get more pressure going early.

For Trapper it's nice to have a space you can basically ignore when setting up traps.

Basically it shrinks the playing field for the first 2 minutes of the game.

Honestly if you want to try something to slow the game use Sloppy and Thana. It's actually really effective, just it takes a little time to get going. 1 or 2 gens will pop before you really get value out of it, but once everyone is injured you get a lot of breathing room as they will often focus on healing first.

I like how you assume Good survivors will let you injure them all in that amount of time.

1 … 5 6 7 8 9 … 14
