But having a built in slowdown will change nothing if the killer doesn't have a effective way to down the survivor... It's like Sadako, she can put some pressure with her condemn, but when you condemn someone, what you supposed to do after? By the time you got someone downed, the game is almost over.
Sadako? Agressive hit and run. You tke the chase when you want it. Piggy? I agree, that the first doown can be the most difficult one. Try stealthing to get the first hit and do your best too get the second. After getting the firrst trap out, it gets a lot easier.
M1-mindgames can be a very effective way to down a survivor. A Wesker that misses his power 4 times wastes more time than a Pig that loses one mindgame.

Yes, I know. But a killer having to rely on mindgames to get a down is very inefficient. Most loops you can avoid mindgames by using the correct checkspots. And also, getting a down with the m1 takes much longer and the DBD in 2025 is not very favorable for killer. Time is not on your side, and survivors have many advantages over you. You can't afford to waste any time.
Most m1s have something to balance that out. Pig for example has the strongest build in slowdown in dbd. This gives her the time to m1. Ghoul has one of the best mobility powers in dbd. This safes them a LOT of time as well.

Geting hits at a loop without using the vault is almost impossible if the survivor has any brain. His power isn't like Blight that you can hit at any time during the dash. Also his leaps is very imprecise and difficult to control where you want to be exactly.
I wonder how I got this far being a Pig main.
You do know that m1 mindgames do exist? The original core aspect of dbd? Sure, they don't work on all tiles if the survivor is aware, but LT's, pallet gyms and a lot of other tiles are perfectly playable as a normal m1 killer.
The amount of ghouls that never mindgame and just brute force with their power still amazes me. They are often one single mindgame away from getting a down but they simple refuse to do it.

Sounds like people just hate when the danger is real.
Sure, there are bad apples everywhere. I think however that people don't like to get hitscanned from behind a wall into a stun lock that puts them into deep wound from a killer that can jump across the map in seconds. It's feels cheap and frustrating to play against. With Nurse, Blight and Billy, the danger is real as well. With those however, either there exists genuine back and forth gameplay or the killer (Nurse) is very good at a decently demanding killer. None of this applies to the Ghoul.
-
I agree, that Kanekis kit offers way too much effort for the imput that is required. A free injury especially one that goes through walls and stun locks the survivor from miles away, should come with a trade off, see Plague and Legion.
Calling for the skull merchant - treatment will get nobody nowhere. Needing her the way they did was, and still is, unacceptable and a clear indication that they straight up don't know what to do with her.
Constructive criticism is what is needed.

Then swf just cancel 4 most killer sided maps and they got most use of it. Don't buff swf! If 40% too high how about 30%?
I get your point and I agree. That wouldn't be good as well. I prefer not outright deleting mechanics in a game because effort has gone into it. I don't like to see that effort erased entirely.
In this specific scenario, I do think deleting them is the right call though.
I don't think keeping them serves any game - healthy purpose. Never has tbh.

Why mess with them to begin with? Its an offering. Just like anything else in the game it is all a game of chance. Who you load in with and what perks they have. How good are your fellow players. Ect.
Map offerings deminish the randomness you think is good. If I put one on, I can (in most cases) guarantee a specific map.
With many maps being as unbalanced as they are, these offerings feel unfair for the receiving end at best and lead to unearned wins at worst.

Maybe increase the chance to like 40% as 20% is too low.
No. Either rework them, so that they guarantee NOT being sent to a specific realm or remove them.

Uhh.. why not have them at 100? Sometimes I wanna play on my favorite map. Don't know why everyone is crying
Maps in dbd can be Incredibly one sided. A specific map can strongly shift power and therefore the outcome of a match to either killer or survivor.
Wanna win with Pig? Midwich.
Wanna win against Pig? Erie.
Due to this imbalance in map design, the offering that can guarantee this power shift holds immense power for whoever uses it to their advantage. On top of just map layout, tiles and main building, certain maps also favour certain perks. Surge is amazing on the game and balanced landing works well on both chapel and asylum.
Due to all these aspects, map offerings are like the final infinity stone for the gauntlet of the optimized player and empathize the aspect, that in dbd, loadout alone can win a match.
I personally want them removed as well.

@UndeddJester said:
Pig is tricky to balance in this regard, because of the macro control provided by her RBTs; her ambush strength must correlate with the potential snowball value her traps provide.
If you make her ambush much faster, she basically becomes Chucky with a massive built in slowdown (8m/s is literally Chucky's dash right now).
So I'd be very reluctant to buff her this way. I feel her big problem is how reliant she is on that first chase going well... What she needs help with to my mind is getting her first trap out... once it is out, she is fine. As such, a buff to her ambush would do that by helping her first chase, but then it overtunes her once she has a trap out and she gets exponentially more chances to snowball...
As an example alternative (and I wouldn't suggest this because it'd be free value that was unearned, this is more to labour the point), if she spawned with 1 survivor trapped at the start of the trial and had say ruleset number 2 basekit, Pig would quite a lot stronger...
Agree.
Maybe she could get a buff to ambush as long as she has max traps in her inventory?
This would make her a lot more viable before she gets her traps down.
This could also improve Amanda's letter, which is already lacking due to the slowdown being halfed.
Mandy is motivated to get the game started, therefore her senses are heightened and her ambush is stronger.

She has lot of things exept mobility and her stealth is kinda weak, her dash attack is probably weakest in the game, only thing that stands up is her slowdown with traps but you need down fast on new survivors and that is thing she struggles. I think she got another undirect nerf, her boxes have the same spawn place as other killer things so now it should spawn near gens not somewhere in the corner of the map which will hurt her little just like save the best nerf etc..
Piggy has great stealth with jmf (John's medical file)
Ambush can outplay tiles, many killer can only dream of (Moondash)
Map mobility is an issue but you don't need it as much if you can play your cards right with the traps.
Her main issue is just early game. If she can get traps out, Pig is very decent. Good teams know that and will try to prevent that from happening.

She is still underhelming, if she cant get downs fast she will struggle a lot thats why most pigs tunnel a lot because they need too.
Pig is the only killer in the game that gets rewarded for NOT tunneling. I agree, that her main issue is her early game. Thats why I usually use lethal to get my first down quickly.
Shes underwhelming compared to your typical a-tier killer. For me, she couldnt be more perfect. Depends on what you want from a killer. -

games are supposed to be fun. The upcoming qol changes are to address that. it's a great start but there's more work to be done
Dbd is a pvp game. There will ALWAYS be unfun scenarios for both sides when the other side is winning.
Killer makes too much mistakes and gets genrushed = game unfun for them.
Survivor makes mistakes and dies extremely fast = game unfun for them.
On top of this, what is fun is extremely subjective. Just because you find a strategy unfun, doesn't mean that it's unfair.

People are just so used to her being underwhelming, that the always resort to calling her weak while not even trying to understand her strengths.

The strategies you describe might be unfun to face, but are by no means toxic, griefing or (especially) unfair.

The rate of killers where you have more playtime is far more telling than those you play less. The more games you play, the more consistent the number becomes.
As I said before, I have 100% kill rate on Trickster. This says nothing though, because I only played him twice. Other killers, which I played for hundreds of hours have a lower but more telling kill rate.

Both sides use map offerings.
Why? Easy. Optimization.
In dbd, loadout can decide the outcome of a match more than a player's "skill" / understanding of the games mechanics. Maps, being as unbalanced as they are, can shift the power vastly into the direction of the killer or the survivors. If you can guarantee that power shift, why would you not do it?
Why do I refuse to use them? It feels unfair for the other side. Simple as that.

Well you will basically not be able to win with her nonetheless against good survs with good tape management
My matches say otherwise.
And before you say: "you just play against bad survivors":- A majority of them have above 4k hours

The only thing keeping her out of F-tier is her ability to teleport. Her chase is bad, her stealth is bad (and still bugged), her macro is bad, her Condemn is such a joke that even survivors meme on it.
Just because she's better on a couple of maps doesn't make her above D-tier. That's like saying Blight and Billy aren't S-tier because a couple of maps don't really favor them.
Condemned is really strong, if used correctly.

Using Myers as an example of a good or interesting Killer design is seriously questionable. He's appallingly weak when he's not using his strongest addon, at which point he's still weak on most maps against competent Survivors but wrecks newbie teams who don't know how to deal with him yet. And his power is literally just looking at Survivors.
I'd much rather have a killer like Springtrap, who does have some wacky addons but whose fundamentals are powerful and interactive for both sides, than more dash slop or a F-tier byzantine mess like Onryo.
Sadako is nowhere near f-tier. Please don't exaggerate.
-
Pretty strong imo. Somewhere in A-tier.
Edit: damn. People are that fast with the memes? Good one!
-
I love Pig and Sadako for their unique and strategic approach to playing out trials.
Sadly, Im in the minority there. A LOT of people enjoy fast killers with dashing powers. Just look at pick rates. The most loved killers are Billy, Blight, Oni and the likes.People dont want complex unique abilities that require much thinking. They want to zoom and flick with their mouse to get fast rewards.
I know this sounds harsh, but its the reality. Its why behaviour has been avoiding doing another Pig, Pinhead or Sadako.
-
Pig main here.
In regard to looping, there is only one single tile in the game that greatly annoys me. Shack.
I don't think I have to go into why that is the case.
Otherwise, m1 killer have some things going for them.
Sbtlf and surge are extremely good on any m1 oriented killer such as Doctor, Clown or, and especially, Pig.
Playing m1 for me is the purest way of playing dbd. It's mindgame vs mindgame. How much do you know about tiles and survivor movement? Can you predict your opponents next move? It feels pretty rewarding to do play m1 effectively.
Sadly, tiles like shack, strong main buildings and especially pre dropping makes playing m1 a lot worse.
I still like it more than playing Blight, Nurse or Wesker.
On top of it, most m1s have some form of macro ability that is a lof of fun to play around. Managing traps as Pig or condemned as Sadako is peak gameplay for me personally.

I just see this video on Tiktok, if these M1 killers had a 5% bonus on breaking and vaulting "for example" (to say a random number), it could make their help a little easier. There are killers who should break and vault pallets faster than others. The problem is easy to fix, but Behaviour doesn't listen to us or does it think it would be unfair?
This clip is showing bad gameplay.
How to play Pig on gideon: stealth hit and run. You use the size of the map and your stealth to your advantage. If you commit to chases like this on THAT map, then you willingly throw the game.

I always wanted something like this: There are killers that are 4.4, others that are tall and short, because there are no killers that can break pallets faster and vaulting faster... and the "M2" ones that more slower? (or stay the same?)
("M1" killers should break & vaulting more faster than the others) and I think it's the best option.Or simply buff Fire Up and Brutal Strength, and killers like Blight / Wesker / Spirit, etc., have a power cooldown when they break a pallet (like Kaneki), but effectively with very different and insignificant cooldowns so they don't feel nerfed.
Pig needs Bamboozel and Brutal Strength, Fire Up sometimes relies on many chase perks, which are very limited because if they were to buff them, dash killers would be completely broken.
That's why everyone wants to learn how to play with Billy / Blight / Nurse because they don't need chase perks and can take 4 anti-gen perks, tunneling, and camp from the start.
Honestly, there is just one single chase perk that I use on Pig. Never dropped it since I started playing her.
Most people here already know my addiction to that perk:
No perk does what Stbfl does. It has great synergy with Piggy and supports those that are very good at m1 killer gameplay.
On topic: You see how dofficult it is to balance killers in the current state of the game. In my opinion, the best option would be to tackle the problem at its root, but im afraid that its way too late for that.

It's obvious I know how to play her... it wouldn't make sense for me to be mean to her and put her at P100 with so many killers that are easier and stronger to use.
I'm just saying that it's very "Normal" for the survis Insta Drop the pallet as soon as the loop arrives, then their ambush is useless and it always will be.What buffs do you think the Pig deserves to make it a B Tier?
Good question...
I think the pigs problem lies not with her but the game itself.
The games design encourages pre dropping against m1 killers, as they can't do anything against it. Buffing Pig so that she can deal with it consistently would just be a band aid.
We need to change up map design so that these killer have reliable chances. Starting with shack. Against good survivors, the shack is just a 100% time waste without a reward for the Pig.
Changing this up however has to come with heavy nerfs to strong map mobility killers like Ghoul, Billy, Blight and the like.
As you see, this is a tricky problem. Either you go the easy? route and buff the pigs chase (a bit) or you change up the whole game for the better, which obviously takes A LOT more effort.
Sadly the latter will likely not happen anytime soon, so my suggestion would be to make crouching and uncrouching a bit faster and the ambush-duration a bit longer.
Compensation would be to delete synergy with screaming perks on boxes.

I don't know what kind of survis you get, but the Pig needs an small chase buff.
The survis doesn't even let you ambush drop all the pallets before I reach the Loop. The Pig is a Tier D killer and indeed needs BUFF
How are you going to say that the Pig is "fine" then what about the 95% other killers?
That answer is completely wrong. Both Pig / Ghost Face / SkullMerchant needs BUFFS
Let me ask you a question then. How do you play Pig? Do you use moondash? Do you crouch to bait shift w? Do you use JMF, the most based Pig addon?
Piggy's power is difficult to balance because she has the strongest Bild in slowdown that can also give you a kill. To balance that out, her chase HAS to be weak(er). That's how it is. I did say though, that she could use one or two small buffs to her chase. Getting the first trap out can take a very long time.
A bit faster crouching and maybe longer ambush would be a good idea.
To compensate for these buffs, they should remove the screaming build synergy that she has, as it is low risk, high reward compared to her usual playstyle being high risk, high reward.
Speaking from roughly 2.5k hours on Piggy alone, I'd say that she's comfy in the middle of c-tier right next to Sadako.
-
As a Pig main, this sounds interesting.
-
@UndeddJester said:
Its a careful balance, because the thing that makes Pig interesting is the combination of her Stealth, her Ambush and her RBTs all working together.
Her abilities create a unique set of mind games and macro control, and the strength of each is intrinsically linked. If any part of it becomes overturned, it directly bumps up the snowball power of the other aspects of her kit as well. As some simple examples:
- Stronger ambush means shorter chases, which in turn means getting head traps out faster and greater pressure on headtrap timers to increase RBT lethality.
- More lethal RBTs means survivors have stronger time constraints on all actions, which in turn means taking riskier paths/decisions that are at more risk of being caught out by Pigs stealth.
- Better movement during stealth means greater map presence and lower downtime, amplifying the pressure of RBTs and increasing chances of early hits and eventual downs with her ambush.
What makes Pig certainly my favourite killer is her ability to turn the game into an effective 3vs1 and increasing your ability to predict survivor movement, the need to dynamically adapt startegy based on identified pig box patterns, combined with the mind games surrounding her decent but not infallible ambush and her hard to see crouch/stand up m1 mind games.
If not careful, if any aspect of her kit becomes overtuned, that bleeds into every aspect of her kit, and kinda kills off what makes her interesting by making the skill of capitalising on RBT trap pressure simple and effortless. E.g. if she had a Chucky level ambush, then her slowdown of RBTs becomes obnoxiously oppressive by virtue of the pressure she can exert via the 3vs1 gameplay of her RBTs, so your need to actually track RBT progress and predict survivor movement isn't needed due to the passive strength your ambush would give you.
I'd personally like box auras to return, but hit the effectiveness of scream builds, since it is quite important for the survivor predicition element of her power, not having them means you have to learn the spawns, and is just an unnecessary accessibility issue for new Pig players. Me and @radiantHero23 and the rest of the Pig crew have different opinions on how to nerf Screams, but the 2 most commonly tossed up ideas were between:
- Don't allow head traps to pop while still searching a box.
- Interrupting a search box causes that box to regress instead of start from 0.
Both would resolve the issue by not making constant screams an instant death with nasty combos like Tampered Timer and Crate of Gears. As long as you're on the final search, you will often still make it...
However all things considered, the loss of box auras was a preferred sacrifice not to have that 30s timer increase.... so many people arguing in that PTB didn't understand how badly that 30s nukes any and all of her hard earned RBT pressure that it was honestly scary... 😵💫
In any case, any buffs and nerfs to the Pig must be very carefully thought out, because unlike other multi power killers, every single buff/nerfs knocks on every aspect of her kit... she does need some kind help in the early game... the first 60-120s of the trial heavily determines how the trial is gonna go... but buffing that specific aspect of her kit without going overboard elsewhere is quite tricky. 🐷
Nothing to add. Basicly everything said. 👉🐽

Out of curiosity, how would you imagine that kind of change would be implemented?
Changing the win condition seems like a massive deal to me.
It is. It's probably the biggest change that could happen in dbd because it would involve changing up core mechanics.
A first would be to look at why killers tunnel and camp. Then start with those issues. Not particularly fixing them (if that is even possible) but to craft ideas on how to change the core gameplay up.
It definitely involves:
- gens
- Perks
- Stronger killers
- Weaker killers
I'm certain that something like this will not happen. We are 9 years into the game and this change would be too big despite feeling necessary.
In regard to mmr, I think it's rather simple? In addition to kills and escapes, count chase times, gens done effective usage of killer power,...
Something like that.
-
A win condition not based on kills and escapes but performance during a trial.

While you "technically" can for every single map and variant, it's impractical. Especially given how the spawns can alternate. All this adds is unnecessary tediousness to the killer. While I understand that people don't like box pressuring, that is what makes her unique, fun and viable.
This is like saying I could memorize all onryo tv spawns. Could you, technically? Yeah. Is it extremely tedious and impractical? Also yeah.
I used to love playing Pig, but box aura removal ruined the killer for me.
I see your point and I agree.
Personally, I have memorized all that, but you cannot expect that from the ordinary player that doesn't invest thousands of hours on one killer / two killers in my case.
I'm definitely in the minority there.
I understand the need for the change though. Her chase got buffed, so her traps needed some form of nerf. While this was definitely not the buff I would ha e suggested, it's one I can accept.
My idea would have been to nerf the annoying scream builds because they make playing around the traps too easy and more leathal.

Yea this is honestly how it is as well in many pvp games.
Reshade is banned in all popular PVP games.
DBD just wants to make excuses it seems. Rather than put their foot down.
People comparing this to voice communication or hertz/fps… lmfao, these arent serious arguments.
You cant police voice comms, and you cant police someone using a different monitor or graphics card. Or restriction on innovations in technology as well. There’s a big difference between having a better monitor versus, modifying the game visuals or audio to highlight enemies. One is a natural hardware edge; the other is altering the game itself to gain an advantage the devs didn’t intend.
There is clear precedence in PVP games. DBD just has to get with the program on this, its such a joke that it even needs to be a suggestion.Id say, that using any form of third party software, WHICH THE GAME WAS NOT DESIGNED IN MIND WITH, is some form of cheating.
Using discord to play swf is some form of cheating.
However, you need to differentiate between what is tolerated and not tolerated by those in charge. At the end of the day, BHVR decides what is bannable and what not.
Using reshade and discord is a form of tolerated cheating. There will be no consequences if you do it. The reasons for that are pretty clear.
Using, I dont know what these kinds of programms are called, to make your survivor run like the road runner or jump like Mario is not - tolerated cheating. Doing it will, hopefully, result in consequences for the person doing it.
Participating in tolerated cheating is fine. No need to be ashamed. Its backed up by the devs.
