  • Used to enjoy discussing aspects of the game with the people here. Sadly most of them are gone now due to the management or because the awful direction that the game been going for over the last couple of years.

I myself don't play the game as often anymore and because of that am not that active here anymore. The forums don't feel like a place of discussion anymore. You can get shut down for the smallest of inconveniences and I don't even want to talk about people in charge being grateful (which they are clearly not) for the amount of time and effort some people here put into trying to help a game that is slowly being put on life support.

On top of all this, suggestions go absolutely nowhere in 90% of all cases.

The simple answer is therefore: why bother.

For the cool people here on the forums of which most of them have either left already or have gotten banned?

For trying to help people that are clearly not deserving or grateful for all the effort put in?

I'm still here cause I still somewhat love this game and the joy it brought me over the years.

So to answer your question OP: nostalgia for when times where better.

True, the only mode where devs don't nerf survivors or add broken killers like Vecna, Krasue, Kaneki on release. I wish there were more classes for both roles and killers too, also I wouldn't mind 5v5 mode sounds fun too

    Which Vecna xD

I think the dnd one is largely fine.

  • Easily 2v8. I barely play the game outside of that game mode anymore.

  • It's been an honor reading your insightful feedback.

I think I'm speaking for a majority here, that it will be missed (at least by those that actually care about improving the game).

Now for the moderators that are undeniably partially responsible for this: How many great people have to leave until you learn? We are almost 10 years in and this is the state of the forums? You want to look into the escalation system... NOW? Sometimes too late is too late. You can forgive someone once, sometimes multiple times. But at some point enough is enough.

This is not how you should treat your most loyal and constructive supporters. You should be ashamed of yourself.

I'd say that you should learn from this, but from the experience I gathered over the years being here, nothing will change.

"I think we did a pretty good job so far."

  • I do not know how it is right now, but at the beginning of the year, and for a majority of the games life time, it was, that at the highest level of play, the game was heavily survivor sided.

This level of play, however, does not represent a majority of public matches, where killers are doing perfectly fine. In lower levels of play, the game is and arguably always has been killer favored as survivors lack the necessary knowledge to properly waste the killers time and be efficient on generator progress.

As the game hasn't changed that much, I still think that this is largely the same. So if people say, the game is survivor sided, they are either biased or speaking about the highest level of play.

  • I hope they put up a fight to get it back. Without this chapter, the game would very likely not be where it is today.

Losing Halloween = losing a huge part of dbd's identity.

Speaking to the disabling of pictures at certain times, this is one of the cases where we're limited in what we can do based on our Hosting service. BUT! That doesn't mean the feedback hasn't been heard. This is something we'll keep in mind, should there be alternative solutions!

I very much hope you do. Dont want to be rude, but recent events are nothing but shocking tbh.

I really appreciate you taking the time to break this all down and appreciate the lateral thinking on your problem solving!

Priority number one right now is ensuring that any any images that violate the rules here have been removed - something that appears to be handled now. On that topic, I wanted to thank you again for showing care in looking out for folks here.

We're always keeping an eye out for feedback that can help make these forums feel better to use, so I'll be sure to share yours with the team!

Maybe then actually show care for these folks yourself and not ban them for the weirdest of reasons? People like UndeddJester have provided more constructive feedback here on the forums than most of us.

I think it speaks volumes that someone like them can get banned so quickly and for such reasoning.

Please look out for the people that actively help to improve this game. This is my feedback.

Sometimes, people try to actively solve issues that have been in the game for years. And sometimes, discussing these issues requires official statements. How do we get them? Who do we ask if not these people?

You cant rely on an answer, instead you kind of have to think about what BHVR might be going for than then argue for it.
Even so questions where you need internal game knowledge to be constructive is most likely far far deeper than BHVR would easily like to change things, but you can still express your distaste for how things work and plea for BHVR to make them better without internal knowledge.

I understand not responding to every person that tags, but maybe it would be great to first look at the post they have been tagged in, look at the context and then decide on further steps.

Yeah, except that would cloud up any inbox. Allowing free range on tagging developers would just escellate the problem.
Everyone here thinks their ideas are important and every idea could be improved by internal knowledge. Yet the developers are not here to strengthen your ideas, but to listen to them.

They will strengthen your ideas themselves during the development cycle if they decide to put it into production.

How often do you see mods being tagged here?

Personally, I didnt even know that it was against the rules, when I did it (with good intentions). Most people dont tag mods in general. I personally dont think that their inbox would suddenly flood with messages any more than they do right now.

Also, I do personally think, that these forums should also encourage communication with people in contact with the developement team and not actively discourage it. They actively want our feedbackk and opinions but never interact with us other than when it comes to a ban.

Last time I was in communication with a mod about a long standing in-game issue, I got a stereotypical answer that I could swear was automated / copy pasted.

This is not what I would personally consider a healthy environment for constructive criticism and discussion. Im personally not a fan of this kind of treatment. If you are, then thats good for you. Agree to disagree.

Its not a kindergarden, its a work environment. And the moderators keep it as such.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4038146#Comment_4038146

I don't get why you can get suspended for a week of you tag a moderator to get a official statement necessary to continue a constructive discussion.

Its in the rules, that is why.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/JFOYC4IL3OQS/image.png

Imagine being tagged by every person who thinks what they are doing something important, that would be really annoying.

Also this thread breaks a few rules too by talking about a specific person's ban.

Well, then I have to ask, why are we here?

Sometimes, people try to actively solve issues that have been in the game for years. And sometimes, discussing these issues requires official statements. How do we get them? Who do we ask if not these people?

I understand not responding to every person that tags, but maybe it would be great to first look at the post they have been tagged in, look at the context and then decide on further steps, instead of immediately shutting something down that could have offered contructive input.

  • I don't get why you can get suspended for a week of you tag a moderator to get a official statement necessary to continue a constructive discussion.

Yes I know, that they don't want to be tagged all the time and probably have enough messages to deal with. However, isn't it the job of a moderator to, you know..., moderate a discussion and do support it instead of shutting it down because one person had the audacity to ask for clarification?

I didn't get it back then and still don't understand it now.

I don’t think Blight is easy to perform well with. He seems similar to Nurse in that it’s very easy to get juked by good players. So you have to be very good at predicting survivor moves around loops to do well with him.

Maybe I’m just really bad with him. But I’d like to see the people complaining that he’s too OP show us how “easy” he is.

I can only speak from my personal experience. I start playing a bunch of blight / nurse matches. First game I suck at them and get 0k. Second match I start to get a feeling for the mechnics but still perform poorly (0-1k). Third match, I start getting pretty good and accurate. Might miss a few or get stuck on some collisions but overall perform decent (1-2k). 4th match, I start getting pretty good at the mechanics (2-3k). Fifth match onwards, I equip strong perks and addons and start destroying.

Sure, there are groups i cant beat, but we are not talking about going on 10-50 match win streaks. We are talking about performing well. I dont think its hard to do it with these two at all.

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4034129#Comment_4034129

The data BHVR releases shows otherwise. Usually blight is in the middle of the pack and nurse is near the bottom of the pack.

Hell the last time they released data, you know what the top 10 killers were by kill rate?

    1. Lich
    2. Freddy
    3. Sadako
    4. Dredge
    5. Pig
    6. Twins
    7. BLIGHT
    8. Ghoul
    9. SKULL MERCHANT (MIND YOU THIS IS PREBUFF)
    10. Oni

So, either, you think blight is a problem, and then also lich, freddy, sadako, dredge, pig, and twins need to be nerfed.

    OR

You believe that blight is a problem and needs to be nerfed because in the hands of really good killer players he is a problem (along with nurse) and if so, by DEFINITION you MUST also believe that survivors need to be nerfed because of what the best survivor players are capable of doing.

You don't get to have your cake and eat it too.

So we are doing a BHVR now?

You know very well why these killers are high in numbers. Because of their gimmicks being hard for beginners. They fall off in higher tier gameplay. Nurse and blight might be a bit more difficult for LITERALLY BEGINNERS (roughly 50hours) but anyone that has basic understanding of the game, perks and maps will play 5 games with them and start destroying.

I dont need stats to prove that. Its common sense.

And i think finidng a good blight (one that wins A MAJORITY OF THEIR GAMES) is A LOT more common than a 4man comp swf.

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/461315/when-are-blights-speed-ad-ons-being-nerfed

The same people who want blight nerfed, are the same people who say that its rare to go against really good SWFs and because they are rare its fine that survivors can be OP at the highest levels.

If you don't think those are a problem, than neither is blight because it is just as rare for you to go against those cracked blight players as well.

You dont need to be "cracked" at blight to win a majority of your games with him. Same with nurse.

  • @Classic_Rando said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4033775#Comment_4033775

No, you just need to learn to play against Blight. I have no problem evading him in chases unless he’s god-level, and I haven’t run into too many of those. He’s one of my favorite killers to go against.

Blight is actually very difficult to be really good with. If you want to show me some of your own gameplay to prove otherwise, I’ll gladly agree with you.

Just like nurse, blight is very easy to perform well with. Mastering him, just like nurse, is a lot harder.

Its easier to perform well with blight than with most other killers. Low cooldowns, pallet break in the basekit, one of the best mobility powers in the game AND 4.6ms. Oh, and he has great addons as well.

its legitimately not bothsides in this case and it still isn’t an us vs them situation. Killers have been siding with survivors about the pallet situation. Its the playerbase vs bhvr.

I was more talking about general balancing issues of the last ~year.

Am I seeing a pattern here? They seem awfully quick to fix things that benefits the survivor side, but keeping the nerfs in the process. Well, aside from the Streetwise bug.

It's both sides. Please don't make this an us VS them - thing.

  • I never thought, that they would take "pallet looping" literally but here we are literally looping around the pallet itself.

  • While dbd has never been a "perfect game" it has never been this consistently bad. I took a break shortly after fnaf and returned last week...

... Just to see the game being as bad as it was before. Worse to be honest.

This update was their opportunity to make things right and it failed spectacularly.

What do we learn from it? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Streamers and players keep playing, sometimes complaining while doing so.

Everything continues as usual. Yesterday, a new trailer dropped. I started playing dbd because of the stranger things dlc and despite this, I could not feel more apathy for the second chapter. Vecna is gonna get dropped in a horrible environment.

The game desperately needs to improve before we release new content. Otherwise the state is gonna overshadow the new chapters and noone will be satisfied in the long run.

  • I mean, the same happened with eruption shortly after 6.1.0

Killers had arguably the strongest regression meta and still, a majority tunneled and played top tier killers.

  • I got it too. Reinstalling didnt help.

  • @TWiXT said:

I would've preferred something that either makes breaking the chains harder/take longer, even if just by 0.25 seconds, or increases the hindered effect while chained if done so at more than 10 meters away to allow Pinhead a better chance to catch up when chaining a survivor from further away tbh.

However, Full aura tracking on a target that escapes the chains is not bad, pairing it with the Greasy Black Lens means full aura tracking for every part of getting a successful chain hit. Add Lethal, and you've got 8 seconds aura reveal when hit + 10 seconds after they break free, so, that's actually pretty decent. Not what I wanted, but not a terrible change.

My post is less about the strenght of the addon. Its undeniably good.

Its just incredibly … you know, similar to another addon. Makes you think how long it took to come up with the idea.

I like addons doing different things.

  • To be honest, after playing a few games, I dont see much of a difference to when I stopped playing and took a break (was before the pallet increase update).

dont get me wrong, it seems stupid to have basically perm aura reading on a survivor, but to me only really the iridescent addons have been "unique" the rest are mostly flavor text and general stats. and debuffs.

tho I do perma run object of obsession

I mean, we have bff's on legion, trapper sack, scarred hand on hag, scratched mirror and Jenners / Campbells last breath on nurse. I think purple addons can be a bit more creative.

  • @IlliterateGenocide said:

its not very creative but it seems decently strong, no?

Im not sure im a friend of having that much aura read, potentially even more with lethal pursuer, on a power with a ~3-4 second cooldown.

I just hate going against something that I cant see or react to (traps can be predicted but spirits pathing cant), her direction doesnt sound directional its more of how close she is to me (and me hearing isnt worse I still can hear survivors moving in grass behind me just thing is DBD is now less about sounds than it was back in its early years and many sounds just dont exixt or are buged, so Idk if spirits direction sound is only for me how close she is not the side she is coming from which is because of my new headphones or bug), I just like more blight or nurse they are easier to read and react to compare to spirit plus most toxic hardoce tunnelers I ever faced were spirit players for some unknown reason.

I mean, that your subjective opinion. Fair enough. For me its the opposite. I like facing spirits more.

  • @Abbzy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4031475#Comment_4031475

God no just dont buff spirit I know blight is way more busted but the thing is you can see him act spirit on the other hand you can only guess, such annoying killer to deal with i would just rather face nurse or blight, ghoul, larry than spirit.

I mean, she has directional audio clues when she phases…

Obviously this is not great, as some people are hard of hearing and others dont have great head sets, if head sets at all, but its better than saying "you can only guess".

I prefer a spirit over a good nurse or blight, because I feel like I can actually do something and am not just reduced to a training dummy.

I dont think that will change anything honestly. Its people publicly supporting the horrible decisions by not speaking out. The dbd playerbase became conditioned to just accept BHVR's pracitces. Until that changes, why would they do anything but what we are seeing them do right now (and for the last few months / years)?

Haven't been paying too much attention after they chickened out of the first version and showed off a completely ineffectual version that has zero positives.

    So no.

Same for me. At this point, I feel like I have to repeat a point I made a few months ago:

    • in the pursuit of balance we made the game even more unfun, just to realize that true balance was never an option.

When will they learn, that band aids will destroy more than they fix?

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4028976#Comment_4028976

The altar this is being sacrificed on isn't "play nice." It's the altar of "balance."

Sometimes, there are worthy sacrifices to said altar. Like old DH, or instant heals, or old mori's.

Other times, we burn things we shouldn't have. Like atmospheric maps, old graphics, fog, horror aesthetics etc etc.

The continued push for balance has, ultimately, destroyed the horror theme of the game. This last change may be the final nail in the coffin, but it wasn't the largest nor most impactful nail struck. It just happens to be the last in a long line.

Do we know if and when this abomination will hit live?

  • One more time. Maybe someone will listen at some point.

Introducing downvotes in this forum was a mistake and they should be removed.

  • I agree. I bought the new Cheryl skin and while the cosmetic itself looks amazing, the shirt not flowing in the wind while shes running looks really weird.

I hope they never do this because waiting seventy years from the point I press M2 to when my dash is ready, only for it to bump into any bit of irregular geometry and then be unusable for 12 seconds is horrible and I'm glad most other killers with dashes or mobility are more responsive and feel less clunky.

I''ll admit I'm not good at Wesker. But he feels so clunky and unresponsive that I can't bring myself to play him. I'd hate it if every mobility killer were changed to be this way.

If you want the game to improve overall, certain things need to be toned down. Blight, Nurse and the likes cannot stay the way they are. Its damaging for the whole game and has been proven over and over again.

I still dont get why blight isnt 4.4. It makes literally no sense.

  • Ive been playing for many years now. Its never been this consistently bad.

And even with that people don’t want to play the mode… imo 2v8 should alwayy give more bp to survivors to at least be the mode that gives more bloodpoints.

People do want to play 2v8. Just not as survivor.

While I personally find survivor in 2v8 a lot more enjoyable than in 1v4, but the lack of novelty (which is honesty impressive since this is, what, the 6th iteration?) leads to more people playing killer, which will always feel refreshing to play due to the multiplayer aspect.

BP will not make tons of people switch from killer to survivor. If people have the choice between something they have no interest in, but get chocolate for doing it and something theyreally like doing, it is only logical for them to pick the thing that is more fun to them. Especially after a long day of work.

  • @adam1233467 said:

But the problem is the survivors are already extremely powerfull in 2v8 but people are so bad at the game that they dont see this, and BHVR keeping buffing them thinking they will have more desire to play but this is just making killer unplayable.

The people playing this game tend to play for one thing and one thing only. Winning. That's a sad reality I had to acknowledge over the last few years.

How do you make people play a game mode more? You make them win more. How do you achieve that? You give them really strong stuff.

I'd rather play against a bot that actually plays its role as a killer, uses perks and abilities, and puts pressure on generators, than against live players on killers who don't even kick a generator once during the entire match because they're too busy tunneling and slagging. It's nonsense, not a game.

The developers have shrunk most of the maps in size, placed hooks every 5 meters, and yet killers can slag with absolute impunity? Who are these hooks for? This is GRIFFERING and should be banned.

The killers job is to kill. By any means necessary. That's the only win condition for that role, as sad as that may be.

Until that changes, focusing one survivor out ASAP will remain the best strategy.

I don't like it either, but that's how the game is designed.

At this date, the game is survivor sided.

Playing as killer against people that know how to play, even if you have 3000 hours and you don't play blight or nurse, is IMPOSSIBLE.

Loops are way too large, and a good survivor will never fall for a mindgame.

At the afternoon i had fun matches, as killer and as survivor.

At the evening and night, you only be matched with people that have no life, play for years and that play together. I lost all my matches as killer, more than 10 in a row, but during the afternoon I was winning every matches.

Listen to the truth : Survivors have too much pallets, too much good connected loop.

As they know exactly what is where at, playing together so they communicate all infos and that they are very strong, it's impossible to win. Your game is like this : hit; pallet, plallet, window, killer shack, you drop the chase, you go to put pressure on another survivor, pallet, pallet, window, pallet, strong loop, T n L, your drop, you go on another one (1 or 2 gens left) and that's the same. Seriously I'm not enjoying my games as killer. That's so unfair that it's survivors who chase the killer…

As survivor I escape easily, and maybe if I'm against a blight we will loose. And I play alone. Imagine with a group, that does gens every second and no one let you have a down ?? How can you slow down the game ? How can you make your perks work if you can't activate them ?

Seriously let me 1 year, I build a team, I train them, and with same parameters that there are now, I will be able to do at least a 3 men escape against every killer but blight and maybe nurse.

Fix your game asap, it's unplayable as killer and way too ez as survivor, put less pallets, delete good combinations of loops. Survivors are not made to be invicible but to be killable. Upgrade maybe anti tunnel perks and that's it. Let us kill people again and please, NERF THOSE ######### SWF AND LET US KNOW THAT WE PLAY AGAINST PEOPLE THAT CAN TALK SO I CAN LEAVE BEFORE THE MATCH START BECAUSE I WANT TO HAVE SOME FUN.

Rank 1 killer, Rank 1 survivor, 3000+ hours in game

How did you find this? It's almost a year old.

  • I'm starting to get the feeling this whole "abandon" - mechanic was a mistake. Not only in terms of gameplay but also in regard to mindset.

  • Im still hoping for a Bioshock - chapter with Rapture as a map.
