I think mangled is still a very strong effect, I don't think the heal perk buffs would warrant a reversion of the mangled nerfs
-
I agree, I think it could actually make games less sweaty and incentivize spreading hooks

Since the fnaf release, has anyone else noticed that a significant amount of killer players have been hard tunnelling at 5 gens? I don't really see any reason why this may be but it's certainly been a lot worse than I've seen it in a long time. Might just be me though.
The deletion of tunneling in July can't come soon enough. Even BHVR says killers artificially inflate their mmr by using these toxic strategies

I play SoloQ 99% of the time and I rarely lose against a Ghostface. Not sure what else to tell ya.
that's not everyone's experience

He's legitimately broken against solo queue

I think you missed april, he is like top 5 worst/weakest killers in the game and still there are palyers that think they are op He just needs some solid buffs to his basekit same as skull merchant, mayers(tier 3 more chase oriented), trapper and so on.
what did I miss in APril

He's never stomped SoloQ. Maybe in YOUR experience, but this just isn't the case. He's a really weak killer.
All experiences are equally valid. He 100% stomps solo queue because stealth killers require comms

No wonder playing Killer is horrible; Entitled survivors think they can outlaw legit tactics by whining.
How is killer horrible when the game is killer sided?
-
@RpTheHotrod said:
He's literally one of the weakest killers in the game. You have to pay attention to your surroundings as a survivor when facing him. I dont think your suggestion of making one of the weakest killers in the game even weaker will hold any merit.
As for revealing, thats usually because you're trying to put him at the center of your screen. Don't do that. Put him halfway between the middle and top of your screen. Your own character model acts as a visual blocker between him and you.
He's weak against swfs but so is everything else. We're talking about solo queue. These are players who don't have the comms necessary to deal with it
-
@MechWarrior3 said:
Ghostface if anything needs a little buff.
He stomps solo queue, it's just not a healthy power design in my opinion. A nerf is in order for sure
-
@pleasedontbetoxic117 said:
Are you new to the game? Because Ghostface is really weak and just not fun to go against because of the community.
I have 2300 hours, Ghostface is simply a broken killer, because solo queue lacks the comms to deal with him, and most of them play in incredibly unfun and toxic ways

While we aren't sharing specific timing quite yet, both of these will be included in phase 2 of the Quality of Life initiative, which will run from July to December. Stay tuned, though, as we'll have more details to share soon.
Awesome, thank you so much! Is it going to be a regular patch like the Five Nights at Freddy's one, i.e include other regular changes alongside it, or will it be a dedicated patch? There are some killers like Ghostface that are really OP right now

So, basically, you think you can control the Killer if you call anything you don't like 'toxic' or 'unfun' and screech loudly enough?
yes if the majority find something unfun it gets changed, same as the rest of the qol phase 2 changes
-
@Fix_Killers said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3945112#Comment_3945112
That's the Killer's choice.
It's not 'toxic' to do anything Survivor mains don't like. Stop thinking you can dictate how your opponent plays or wins.
We can if the strats are deemed toxic or unfun just like the devs aare doing now with tunneling, slugging and camping
-
@Mandy said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3945056#Comment_3945056
no plans for either of those things. We're satisfied that the 3 gen system is doing exactly what it's designed to and stopping the egregious cases of 3 genning. And pallets are not an infinite resource they are designed to be used once in a trial (or more if not broken), but once broken they will stay broken and not respawn.
Alright. When can we expect the tunneling and slugging changes to be announced and/or enter ptb?
-
@Fix_Killers said:
So now the Killer picking which chases he commits too, and deciding which pallets to break, are 'unfun' and 'toxic' strats?
This is either bait, or someone thinks the Killer having any free will is wrong. 🙃
Yes you should eventually commit to chase
-
@radiantHero23 said:
The strategies you describe might be unfun to face, but are by no means toxic, griefing or (especially) unfair.
games are supposed to be fun. The upcoming qol changes are to address that. it's a great start but there's more work to be done
-
@Lixadonna said:
Sounds like a Gen inefficiency issue. Hit and Run is so easy to counter.
well it's a boring and unfun strat solo queue can't deal with
-
@Dustin said:
Those tactics (Slugging, camping, tunneling, hit and run) aren't toxic / griefing. Unfun? Maybe - But it's part of the game.
Have the devs considered respawning all pallets on the map every time a generator is completed?
With all due respect you really need to elaborate in detail your reasoning on why this should be the case. For most killers you use a lot of time to down a single survivor which usually results in 1-2 gens popping after your first chase. Why should survivors get a free reset for the killer succeeding?
If you feel pallet distribution on the map could be improved that's fair. But it's not the killers fault if the survivors poorly manage their resources. Also if the killer is somehow winning by not committing to a chase simply by making survivors drop pallets the survivors are just outright throwing at that point.
It should be the case because many killers will just refuse to commit to a chase until a good number of pallets are gone. This creates long, drawn out boring games that solo queue simply lacks the comms to deal with

And it's over 60%

Yes I am, I've played this game since day 1 back in 2016 and I think it's in the healthiest position its ever been in balance wise - and I've played both sides of the game for many many years now. There's always going to be some issues with the game, same as any game, and we're addressing those this year with the slugging / tunneling / "go next" things that we have planned.
I remember your comment about how killers doing those things will readjust to an mmr where it won't be necessary, and I agree! I want to ask, are there any plans for other toxic or unfun killer strategies, like more 3 gen restrictions or potentially even respawning pallets
-
It would cripple all but nurse and blight who need massive nerfs anyway. I don't think two outliers should stand in the way of positive changes

https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/KOHVUZ5TIXN6/dbd-stats-q12025-survivorescaperates.jpg
Based on the escape rates as of March 2025, the highest overall kill rates would be 60.6%, and the lowest 51.8% depending on group size. Maybe the 70% kill rate you're referring to is for a specific killer? if that's the case then maybe it's a case for an adjustment to that killer's abilities or add-ons specifically but it wouldn't warrant the changes being suggested in this thread which would affect all killers across-the-board, even those with much lower kill rates.
Yes, BHVR's kill rate data they just posted showed at low and high mmr Freddy is at 69% kill rate, Sadako is at 69%, twins are at 69%, at high mmr blight and nurse are 69%. Mandy has stated they aim for 60% for each individual killer not just an average of 60 across all of them. So clearly many killers are well above that benchmark and some amount of change would be necessary to fix that
-
With the way it is now a killer can just choose not to commit to any chases, hold 3 generators and force out every pallet nearby until it's a total deadzone, then they win. Solo queue and even casual swfs do not have the comms necessary to break this and it usually results in a stalemate unless the killer player is inexperienced or they are playing a low tier killer
-
@Lexilogo said:
Pallets respawning after only 60 seconds could cause VERY severe problems on maps like RPD or The Game. Somehow, infinites returned…
Those were maps that needed to be changed anyway though. I don't think extreme unbalanced outliers like that should stand in the way of better changes overall. Furthermore, they're not infinites you just break the pallet
-
@krazy_ivan said:
as a 50/50 surv/killer player I don't agree that these should be implemented, faster gen/heal speeds and self-repairable pallets would be a gross imbalance in favor of the survivors
The survivors are losing way more now, BHVR's latest kill rate post show killers are now reaching even 70% kill rates, which is well above their stated goal of 60%. I think 60% makes sense but 70 is out of control and it would go along nicely with the other changes
-
@CrossTheSholf said:
That would make the game miserable......
The kill rates are well over 60% right now, per BHVR's latest stat release. A tone down is in order and especially for newer and casual survivor players
-

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3941175#Comment_3941175
Well, we're not everyone. Without killers, we have no game to play.
There are enough people who play 50/50 both sides, or survivor mains who try out killer every now and then to replace the sweaty and toxic killer mains who would leave as a result. It's a net benefit and would be better overall for everyone. That's even the point of the upcoming qol changes addressing tunneling slugging and camping. Even the devs see this as problematic
-
@Brokenbones said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3941173#Comment_3941173
I don't really agree. What's problematic about it?
Creating pallet deadzones and pushing survivors into them/picking your chases as Killer is a very important thing for the Killer role to have. It's a skill that needs to be learned.
Sometimes there's a survivor you can't catch, best thing to do is get a pallet or two out of them and go for someone else.
It's problematic for the same reasons tunneling 3 genning camping slugging etc were. It's a boring and unfun way of playing. The best part of the game is chase. More passive strategies similar to 3 genning create unwinnable stalemates
-
@TieBreaker said:
What you describe as unfun, is game balance. Killers have long, laggy cool downs. It feels bad, but it's part of the game's balance. It's the same with exhaustion perks. Powerful things need restrictions.
If it makes the most amount of players happy (survivors) that's good for the game
-
@Brokenbones said:
Imo:
- I don't mean to sound dismissive when I say this but pallets respawning would break the game for m1 killers who already struggle with them. Plus creating deadzones by breaking pallets is a fundemental part of playing Killer. This would cripple that.
- I think the 'anti-tunnel' stuff is likely going to be something that helps keep survivors in the game a bit longer. Same sort of idea
- Heal speed should remain tied to perks/items. Heal speed can already be mega broken if survivors have the right build.
I think many fundamental aspects like tunneling are problematic in this same way. I think if fundamental gameplay is problematic it should be addressed, and performance can be reassessed later
-
@Emeal said:
Nah, Im not supportive of Shack pallet being back after 60sec.
It would be an overall benefit if every pallet could respawn
-
@Mandy said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3940423#Comment_3940423
Exactly this tbh, Killers who've reached a higher MMR by using these strategies, will slowly adjust to an MMR where they're more able to compete without them, same for Survivors with the extreme hiding. Their MMR will all balance out.
Why are those strategies inherently problematic though? If so why is patching out normal gameplay exclusive to killer
-
@Abbzy said:
You dont, you will have to eat them 2-3 times instead one maybe more if he suggest 60 seconds respawn.
Maybe 60s is too short, 120s. Point is it hurts boring and unfun playstyles and helps new and casual players
-
@RaSavage42 said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3936714#Comment_3936714
But still it'll be a perk until BHVR decides to nerf it (might be longer then a month though)
A perk is a compromise but ideally it'd be a base feature
-
@XDgamer018 said:
Nice nurse argument however how is the pig player gonna have to deal with 2 god pallets that spawn on rpd and then respawn...
Pig was a killer that needed a buff anyway. I don't think survivor should lose out on beneficial changes for new and inexperienced players just because weak killers exist. That's a separate issue that can be addressed separately. I don't think they're mutually exclusive
-
@Rapid99 said:
Genuinely asking, how much hand holding do survivor players need?
Do you not see what you're typing and even have the slightest thought that "Hmmm, maybe this is ridiculous"? You're getting anti-tunneling, anti-slugging, anti-camping, 3 genning has already been patched out, anti-this, and anti-that…
Dawg. Like???
Survivors are the majority of the playerbase. While the killer experience matters, there are 4 survivors to 1 killer. Additionally, those were added because they were necessary, and this is another qol feature. Basic qol so new and casual players aren't dying at 5 gens or being held hostage in an unwinnable game isn't "hand holding." I suggest you have more sympathy
-
@XDgamer018 said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/446866/pallet-respawn
Then all killers should have insane anti loop and basekit noed+brutal strength basekit since its meant to start surrvivor sided bc of the amount of pallets wich should be depleted near endgame. Hence why rebuilding pallets in 2v8 is so strong so respectfully this isnt the way. Dont forget the game is 1v4 and bhvr simply CANNOT balance around soloQ bc if they did killer would be unplayable
That sounds like a wild overreaction. The game would still start off survivor sided and shift toward killer sided. As the game progresses, survivors are injured they have to heal, they have hook states, etc.

Did you even read the post? Other issues exist
-
Nurse is broken anyway so I don’t see how this is a valid response
