judging by your logic, having 144hz refresh rate on monitors in fps games is cheating because people with 60hz refresh rate have disadvantage lol

No. You misunderstood. Having a better monitor is not using thrid party software.

You need some form of monitor to play games (as far as i know lol). Some people have better ones, some people have worse ones. If the game supports better refresh rate on those monitors, then the game was made with that in mind. No cheating there imo.

Using filters, like the one i showed above, is not something the devs stated that they want it in the game. Otherwise, it would be in the game as an option to select. Similarly to voice communication though, they tolerate its existance. I do as well. If you want to make your game look like that, more power to you.

It is at the end of the day cheating though. I have no issue to say that im doing some form of tolerated cheating, when im playing survivor with friends and tell them the exact locaton of the killer and what path they take in order to get to them. Without the usage of thrid party software, my friends would (probably) not know from which direction the killer would approach, making them more vulnerable.

Obviously voice comms gives an even bigger advantage than reshade, but it is what it is.

I feel like the term cheating has so many bad connotations connected to it, that people feel bad to admit when they do it. You are using something, that was not intended, to make it easier for you. Its bad if the people making the decisions dont tolerate your action, resulting in consequences. In the case of voice comms and reshade, it is tolerated and therefore will not result in consequences.

I dont really know what there is to discuss here. It seems pretty logical to me honestly.

Needs to see her boxes again, it was a massive nerf to her power and fun. She used to be a macro killer before, but now she's just a bad stealth killer with a bad anti loop and a passive gen slow down that's put and forget.

You can memorize survivor movement and box spawns. I still play her macro to the max and its a lot of fun. I get head pops every third or fourth game.

  • Pig is alright.

Her only big weakness is the early game.

If people pre drop and shift w, you will get your traps out way too late, resulting in you not being able to play much around them.

She still needs a bit of help with her chase but is overall in a great spot. I would not touch her much. Especially not the traps.

Would you say coms are cheating as well then? Given it's an outside program and the game wasn't balanced around it.

I would say so, yes. DBD wasnt created with comms in mind as far as I know.

Just like reshade, its obvisouly not bannable to use voice communication.

Personally, it just hits different when you see people cheating to make their game look like this:

    ezgif-84f6bfe46e328f.jpg

(this is just a mild example. Ive seen much worse back when people excessively used stretched resolution)

I find an Ace that looks like a tomatoe similarly cringe as an Ace that screams at their teammates in clock callouts. Sorry.

The survivor is in a dangerous situation (on hook with a trap) an has to reach out to get the tape recording to listen to the games rules.

Its a tough choice over Billy on the tricycle tough…

Reshade and other software for editing game visually are third party software and yet aren't bannable.

Reshade is even officially whitelisted by EAC (tho there is a bug in EAC that prevents latest Reshade version from working)

Talk about picking up old stuff. I said that over a year ago and I still stand by my opinion.

A lot of people use reshade, a third party software, to gain an advantage in the game. The game was not programmed with reshade in mind. The devs even abandoned offerings that made it so that the players could change the lighting in game because they wanted to have more control over it. If people have issues seeing things in game, then that is totally valid to point out as an issue of accessibility. We should then change the sliders we have IN GAME to adress these issues.

Using third party software imo. is cheating. Thats how I see it personally. Doesnt mean that its necessarily a bannable offence. No matter how small or big the advantage might be, its an advantage, their opponent might not have. People using to gain that adavntage are cheating. Sorry not sorry.

Sure they have the right to do so, doesn't take away from them being biased, just because people like a fundamentally flawed character doesn't mean they should be in the game.

Kaneki is not nearly as easy as dredge, the free injure brings him closer to that point sure, but the second hit still takes skill and has depth. Legion should be removed too. Using his tp is easy, literally just remember what gens are being worked on and tp there, and if there's no lockers nearby that's not a skill element just a disadvantage. Remnant doesn't require any skill except basic patience.

Hit and run is not skillful at any level except for killers that actually add depth to the decision making instead of just making it free to drop chase like dredge does

Please elaborate, on how Kaneki takes more skill than Legion when you have to do an entire chase as an m1 as Legion compared to Kaneki who can ignore god pallets and catch up in seconds, often leaving you with nothing to loop them. This just doesn't add up for me.

Remembering what gens are worked and returning to defend them is something EVERY high mobility killer can do. Blight, Nurse, Dredge, Kaneki, Billy, Oni (power), Sadako, Dracula, Demo, Xeno, Wraith and Vecna are just some that I can think of. Dredge is just one of them. One of them that has to deal with lockers being placed and locked. Something a killer like Kaneki, for example, doesn't have to care about.

Remnant can be tricky to use because it allows a variety of counterplay. Two of them being shift w or running into the remnant. If cleverly placed, a good Dredge can outplay very difficult structures with a bit of planning and timing. It all depends on how creative the killer player wants to be. Let's take artist as a comparison. She allows all kinds of crazy plays with her power. It all depends on how the player uses it. Do they just chase loop to loop, always placing a bird down (boring) or do they use birds from across the map to snipe people / set up birds in unexpected spots in larger structures?

Again, no killer should be removed. You, like all of us, have an opinion. Does not mean you are right about it. Does not mean the other people are right about it. You tell them they are biased, but are ultimate biased yourself.

  • Bans are not discussed here.

  • might be just me, but playing Ghosty, I just get revealed the moment I activate power. 8 people running around means 4 more people that can reveal you.

Combine that with no buff to staying in power whatsoever and it made me an m1 all match.

Guys? This person has also stated in an earlier thread about possibly buffing Ghostface they think stealth Killers are "faceroll gameplay" because they "are too easy" when you have to actually be very good at macro to play as a stealth Killer, especially at higher levels. They aren't here to argue in good faith, they don't like any Killers, they have a track record of this. Ignore/block them and move on.

    sigh…

  • 100% better. Especially in the communication department. When I started playing, game breaking bugs where left unmentioned for months, characters and perks released in unbearable states and events where a lot less interesting.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to play defender here. There is still a lot to improve.

Overall though, I think BHVR has done a "good job so far" to reconnect (or connect at all) with its playerbase. Took a long time but we are getting somewhere.

  • @lettuchia said:

Remove him. He's fundamentally flawed by taking bare minimum skill to play and encouraged to hit and run

So many downvotes but only one response which isn't constructive, people really meatride this killer even with what is blatantly zero reasoning huh

Asking for a character to be removed will almost always result in getting backlash. There are people that like that character and will defend them. They have any right to do so.

I personally dont think that Dredge is that insanely easy to play, especially when you have Killers like Ghoul and Legion in the game. Using the tp effecitvely and maximizing nightfall efficiency is nto so easy to do on a higher level. His anti loop also requires some thinking if survivors chose to leave / disrupt the remnant.

Hit and run might not be the most fun playstyle, but doing it effectively is a lot more skillful than brute forcing pallets and catching up with *some killers* for a free hit. Or lets be more precise, getting a hit completely for free (Legion, Ghoul).

  • The should have left the game a long time ago.

Yes, the real problem is the state of maps, but deleting map offerings is a first step.

  • I feel like the inclusion of this abandon - feature just invites bad habits.

I dont like where this is going to be honest.

  • It is, but not an issue with the killers or the perks, but with the map.

  • @LockerLurk said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3927124#Comment_3927124

Groaning Storehouse can be bad yes, due to size and the way vaults are. It definitely needs something done with the windows.

RE: Gideon - all the Meatplant needs is to be more navigable (getting lost is too easy), have WAY fewer strong/God pallets, and add some more tiles on the upper floor that allow for mindgames with vaults. You are not doing any mindgames on that upper floor, and as an M1 Killer if you lack mobility and most gens spawn topside, you're getting nowhere. That basement with the two God Pallets is a war crime for both sides, and the size of it ends up being, if we looked at it logically, about the same as something like Ormond if you think about the combo of both halves of it together. Pretty much only a handful of Killers have any fun on it, it's so cool and well designed thematically but in play it's simply awful.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3927158#Comment_3927158

Ormond Lake Mine does not need that entire basement section. It serves no purpose, remove it. No map needs THREE levels like this.

The problem with the size of Gideon is, that certain killer powers don't care about elevation. Against Sadako, the whole map becomes a death box every time you TP to a TV. Doctor can almost shock the entire map every single time he uses it, making survivors be in an endless loop of madness. Surge always hits at least 2 gens.

Midwich is a bit bigger, making it less problematic in comparison.

  • Top 3 worst map for any m1 oriented killer is Groaning storehouse. Main building has two extremely strong interconnected windows and chains into shack. The map has two outgrowths next to shack, which almost always have gens. Trying to protect them means giving up the whole rest of the map (75+%) to the survivors to do gens.

They should have kept the altered version and deleted the normal layout.

    More acceptable take?:
    - Gideon meat plant is the worst designed map in dbd. Most pallets only allow one-sided gameplay without much interaction. The map is way too small, making some killer and perks exponentially stronger than they should be (Sadako, Doctor, Surge).

"I win with her" because you face bad players consistently. That's more of a you thing than a Pig thing. If you can't fight a killer that can only get one hit with his power, you were never good at survivor to begin with

You assume my survivors are bad. I beg to differ.

  • I said this multiple times already, but my most wanted chapter would be one based on Bioshock.

Killer would be a bouncer Big Daddy (with a little sister?) and the survivor obviously Jack or Booker.
I wanted a water based map in dbd for a long time and the ruined city of Rapture during Bioshock 2 would make an amazingly atmospheric setting.

  • @AlreadyTracer said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3926003#Comment_3926003

Yes it does. Kaneki is a B tier killer and not even viable.

What do you want a killer to have?

Most Kaneki - players never mindgame, because they dont have to. Force pallet, break pallet, go next pallet, get free hit, force pallet, break pallet, down, hook, camp, tunnel, slug. The killer power enables this kind of playstyle.

Im sorry to be so harsh but that is literally all the experience I had with this killer and Ive been playing a lot.

If a b - tier killer (assuming Kaneki is b, which he is definitely not in my opinion. A-S suits him more) is not viable in your eyes then I dont know what to tell you. Im a Pig main. I learned the core mechanics with her. I win with her.

Both of Nurse's iridescents nerf her. Let that sink in.

Not all iridescent add-ons are good. Many are significantly worse than even common add-ons.

They nerf her to some extend. They provide different styles of play.

Nurses isidescent are not making her stronger because her base power is literally already game breaking. What more do you want? Start the match with all survivors slugged? Get perma aura vision on survivors when charging a blink?

On another note? What does this have to do with our current discussion? The point I made is that the effect people want basekit here is very strong and should not be given out for free. Especially not on a killer that is already extremely strong. Killers with a way lower power level (Freddy and Knight) have this effect as iridescnet addons BECAUSE the effect can literally change the outcome of a trial.

    Let that sink in.

  • @AlreadyTracer said:

Several other killers have it. Arguably, every killer should to discourage toxicity in the gate

Knight and Freddy have this mechanic as an IRIDESCENT addon.

    Let that sink in.

  • No it doesn't.

This killer is already strong enough. We don't need to give them this as well.

I feel thr survivors side on how op this killer feels but also I think survivors just wanted him Nerfed just so they didn't have to learn how to counter the Ghoul. Vaulting a Pallet or Window feels like it should be useful but instead it doesn't do anything most of the time.

i feel so bad for this killer and I don't think I'm the only one who agrees that a Killer could never be punished for using there abilities or doing smart plays

Dredge is always a mess and I love that little guy for that ❤️

I'm underwhelmed by this patch too and it doesn't take much to get me sold. Some good stuff that makes me play the game more and I'm down.

The new quest system and the rarity changes seem so unnecessary to me. It doesn't help that everything is so time limited now. I really enjoyed grinding the rift at my own pacing. That doesn't seem to be the case anymore and I'm do NOT support it at all.

What I personally don't like is the amount of reskins in the rift. Deep rift was something unique but now there are 3 tier in deep rift on top of it? What's next? DeepER rift tier 1-10?

I copied and pasted the link just fine. It just boils down to knowing how long the ghoul CD is. If there's a pallet down in front of you can the ghoul already used one leap, wait for the cancel and then vault because the cooldown is so long you can make it. Also whats stopping you from figuring out counterplay yourself? Or are you one of the people who scream no counterplay and refuse to play against said killer without trying.

So I found out the most likely problem with the link. You need to be logged in to see it.

Ahhhh. I dont have a twitter acc.. Thats it then.

I played against the Ghoul a lot of times at this point and tried a lot of things. Most Ghouls just force pallet and then jump after me. The cooldown being so short after leaping results in me not getting to anything and me getting hit. Thats the core gameplay—loop that most do.

  • How. Does. This. Happen.

    https://x.com/i/status/1914709319184212314

Several situations where you can just wait out the power and have time to vault.

I didnt say that I believe there is no counterplay. I said that i straight up see no counterplay in many situations. Im very much capable of admitting when im wrong but until now, every person here just said, that people refuse to learn counterplay while none of them provide how the supposed counterplay looks like.

One person even told me that they play this killer and dont know what the counterplay is, hoping that nobody will find something so that they can continue stomping. I kid you not.

I checked your link. Sadly it leads me to a post that has been removed. Im certain though, that you could also describe the counterplay we are all missing.

I can see your point, Kaneki is still strong - not as strong but still strong.

The change wouldn't affect me as I already leave most of the time if I know my team is safe. I don't think I've done a celebratory bag in years.

I value my time, so most of the time I just leave or bait out a killer's power (Houndmaster and Kaneki) and the exit gate block doesn't last as long, if it does, I point and I'm able to leave regardless.

No point in dragging out the game, but I know how some people are in the community - they need to rub it in with the teabags, humping, and whatever else they do to excite their day - but then complain when the other side does it to them — it's a never-ending cycle.

I don't think that we should tackle this behaviour by giving an already overtuned killer another ability.

Imagine giving something like this to Nurse or blight.

Just a reminder, that blocking an exit gate with a guard / while asleep is the effect of an iridescent addon for both Knight and Freddy. The effect is incredibly powerful and people ask to get it for free on a killer that is undoubtedly stronger than the others.

    I'm against that.

  • @smurf said:

Agreed. The response to Kaneki has been predominantly negative. He gets hits that don't even make sense, and has powers that when coupled together, make him annoying to play against. It doesn't feel like it's a survivor vs killer match, but more of a 'how much does The Ghoul mess up?' match.

I haven't bought him yet because I don't think he makes sense in that context. Sometimes I'll play Nurse, Billy, or Wesker, but all of them involve some amount of skill development to use their powers effectively, even though they're all at least reasonably strong. Since release, Ghoul seemed like a killer I'd be a little embarrassed to play much because of how easy it appears to use him. I'll gladly stealth around with my silly Pig mask on instead of playing as Kaneki :D

I have been playing killer since 2016, exclusively. I have only played three games as survivor and I regret them every single time I think about it. My mind is untainted from the survivor perspective, and I see things clearly as how they are, or even, as how they should be.

As for the counterplay thing, I don't know what to tell you, it's not my job to know how to counterplay Kaneki. This being said, I'm sure he has counterplay, it's just that no one has figured it out yet. I pray to the heavens that no one finds it, and he remains unchanged. That would be very fun, playing killer lately has been the best experience ever in DbD and no one can say otherwise.

No offence, but if you want to realise how this game is supposed to be, you should very much play both sides. This isnt a single player game. There are two sides that should be taken into account for every change.

I also mainly play killer. Doesnt change my awareness to whats fine and whats not. Your mind being "untainted" by the survivor perspective is not a good thing if you want to talk about improving the game overall (that means for all players). Its bad because you exclusively look at one side, losing any ear from the other side.

I deeply encourage you to play both sides to get a better picture of the issues not only with Kaneki but with dbd as a whole. Its gonna be an eye opening experience if you exclusively played as killer for the last 9 years.

If no one finds counterplay, he is most definitely gonna get changed. That logic makes no sense. For overall enjoyment, a character that has no counterplay HAS to change. I absolutely understand that you have a ton of fun. Survivor players also had a ton of fun when they could insta heal from the ground to healthy using a syringe, instantly finish a gen using a bnp, crowd the rpd library with boil over or dh for distance over a trappers trap. Its fun for you. Not fun for them. There has to be a balance between the two.

Again, this is no singleplayer experience where you can play something completely overtuned and nobody cares but yourself. If you want to do that play a singleplayer game. In dbd though, there are two sides that HAVE to be taken into account.

  • I dont think this killer needs to get this as well. Sorry not sorry. Kaneki is strong enough already.

Why would it kill the game? The response to Kaneki has been great, almost everyone is happy about his release and I haven't seen any complain worth acknowledging. Now we need even more Kaneki-esque killers to make it even better! There is only one way, and it's up!

So either your trolling and rage baiting (in which case, well done you got me)

    or

you never play survivor once. The reception to kaneki has been great from the killer side (not suprising, regarding the killers state) and absolutely horrible from the survivors side (also not suprising regarding the killers state)

Due to how Kaneki is designed, he takes very little skill to achieve very good results. The combination of extremely high mobility, a uncounterable free hit (through walls) with deep wound and great synergy with strategies like tunneling and camping as well as a wide variety of perks makes this killer extremely awful to face.

Its like playing against an even more annoying legion that has less counterplay and is a LOT stronger because of it.

Either you exclusively play killer or you somehow found the miraculous counterplay that most of us are desperately looking for to make this killer more bearable. In case of the latter, feel free to share your insight. We would certainly love to know.

Kaneki is disliked not because he is strong. Hes disliked because of HOW he is strong. Big difference. Releasing a killer like him every 3 months would make playing survivor a living hell, and therefore reduce that playerbase to the likes of the killer population during dead hards prime.

1 … 5 6 7 8 9 … 93
