The difference between Oni's M2 and Deathslinger, Nemesis and Pyramid Head's M2 is that one is only used for collecting blood to build up your power while the other ones can cause direct damage and when you have no cooldown on those powers, it leads to the problem Pyramid Head had on release and Deathslinger had up until his zoom speed got nerfed.

It created a lose lose scenario for Survivors where the Killer would just spam M2 without using their power and guarantee a hit 99% of the time. Use windows/pallets? get hit with power. Not using windows/pallets? keep zigzagging while the killer spams M2 until he's reaches you and if you stop trying to zigzag, get hit with power.

That may be, but THAT is how every M2 should feel. It isn't my job to balance it just to say it feels terrible if its not FLUID. So they should balance the abilities around that feel. Whatever they'd require to make it work. So be it. Oh and the only problem Deathslinger ever had was the sheer amount of whiners that play Survivor and wanted that nerfed for no reason. Blah blah blah...saying there is no time to react is the dumbest excuse they could've used, but they got what they wanted. Whining gets these devs down on their knees, oh but only if it is coming from the Survivor side..

The lesson is. People would rather complain than learn how to go against something that is clearly counterable. Deathslinger was not Nurse tier when he was released so anyone that complained about that quick aim was just dumb.

There's no health bar. In general, survivors can be healthy, injured, or dying. That leaves pretty crappy options for trying to balance killers. We get cooldowns, slower power bars, and clunkier controls (some killers came with extra stuff, like Sadako's condemned and Plague's sickness, giving the devs other numbers to play with). The clunky controls make playing certain killers feel miserable, it absolutely sucks to see things balanced in that manner. When controls feel clunky or janky, it ruins a game. It's not even about losing. A person can have fun while losing and be determined to improve. The average player is turned off by clunky controls and won't bother to give it time or attempt to get better if the gameplay isn't fun at the base level.

    My sentiments exactly.

  • @Akumakaji said:

A lot of stuff said here rings true: playing killer has become more and more unfun, feeling more like a chore then a fun activity, and for every really cool game I get about 5+ that are utterly miserable.

But one less talked aspect of the game is a bit more obscure: a lot of the killer powers are deliberately clunky and cumbersome. I hate to make this another "us vs them" thing, but it sorta feels like it. I never thought too much about this before, but now that I played much more survivor I see it much more vividly. Things like Pyramid Heads super clunky projectile, Pinheads tough skill-shot for minute gains in a chase and even the strongest killers in the game, ie nurse looking constantly at her feet after blinking and blight being disorienting with his spins, or my biggest gripe at all: Onis charge! The charge, once going, is somewhat fine, but the whole thing controls extremely floaty, and why on earth does he have such a slow, glacial start? Thats not what I would call a dash, Dead Heart IS a dash! You press a button and jump into action, not deliberately shouldering your weapon, taking measure and then taking the first, ponderous step before breaking into a jog.

I know that some peeps think that its all for balance issues, and it surely is, ie its reigning in the killers and stifeling their killing potential. But it also makes using their power, the fun part, often frustrating and ... unfun. I can't think of any survivor mechanic that feels that clunky and cumbersome. Blessing and booning takes time, but thats part of the deal; sabotaging is just a 3s ducking animation; slow and fast vaulting are easy and crisp as pie; entering and exiting a locker is just a press of a button. Even flashlights can be much easier directed that most ranged killer powers, but are probably the closest survivors get to a clunky mechanic.

So it would probably take a lot of balancing, but also increase the fun factor of killers tenfold if they could make all this powers feel less frigging clunky and more easy to use.

This guy gets it. When you play a good 1st person FLUID shooter you understand that some of these 1st person Killers feel like slow, clunky garbage. Ex. Waiting for Nemesis to put his damn hand down and use the tentacle again, but his hand stays there for a second with my finger OFF OF THE BUTTON, the tentacle does one more little wiggle, THEN he puts his hand down and I can use it again. What is the point of the slow and terrible feeling Killer Powers??? Freddys don't feel like that??!! Pinhead is the same issue. Have to wait for him to bring his hand back toward his body then down to his side, THEN you can do it again....... Like.....what? Every Killer power and animation should be as smooth as Oni holding out his hand to absorb blood. Simple, easy, FLUID.

Deathslinger was a perfect example before they completely butchered him. When Deathslinger had the faster iron sights, he had that GOOD FEELING to his power. Fast and responsive feeling. These game developers will literally GUT anything, EVEN IF IT FEELS BETTER IN ITS CURRENT STATE, if too many people simply complain about it.... Deathslinger was STILL TRASH before the nerf.... Destroy your own game....why don't you...... -_-

  • Nurse isn't bad as a Killer. She is bad as a design.

  • This one is easy. NOED. Will force Totems regardless and gens will in turn, go slower overall. My 2nd choice would be Corrupt Intervention. Seems futile to run any Killer without it in hopes of killing as many Survivors as you can.

  • @TheycallmeLix said:

Bye, don’t have to make a big drama/attention to let us know your leaving.. Other players including myself still enjoy the game and still play it regularly.

Not everyone is a masochist. Mostly Killer players are leaving for obvious reasons. I don't blame them for letting the devs know exactly how bad it feels to play. That is the purpose of a forum.

  • Character representation is its finest point. QoL is trash. Optimization is trash. Balance is trash. The gameplay is practically a diamond in the rough. Just have to get someone like McLean back on that dev team that knows ######### they're doing to not balance an asymmetrical game like hockey.....

  • There are a few answers to that question. One get gud...................

But seriously here is a list of junk in this game that will KEEP DRIVING more and more people away if not fixed:

    1. Tired of the huge amount of bugs EACH and EVERY patch. - This game needs its code to be fixed......plain and simple. Toss in way better optimization FOR EVERY PLATFORM, NOT JUST PC, and a whole hell of a lot of time for game health ONLY... nothing else. No skins, no characters, no maps. JUST FIX WHAT YOU HAVE. Stop adding more to the giant pile if only to make it a bigger pile.
    2. Constant camping from Killers because Survivors have it much easier overall. - IF KILLERS ARE GIVEN NO CONFIDENCE IN CHASE THEY WILL NEVER STOP CAMPING. SURVIVORS HAVE TOO MANY CHANCES....this should be obvious..
    3. SWF - I really shouldn't have to spell this one out. It's just unfair. When the game was first made this was not a thing. Now that it is I feel bad for every Killer that has to deal with a 4 man. Make it 2 man max. Let those 4 SWF do Custom Games.. They'll get over it.
    4. SBMM - SBMM......................................................................................................................................-_-
    5. Killers getting constantly nerfed. Can't DESTROY Boons, majority can get easily and UNREALISTICALLY 360'd because of the subpar FOV that Killers have had since this games inception. It isn't a "TECH", its a very bad representation of what would happen in a cartoon characters world of running from the bad guy...talk about silly and this game that takes itself way too seriously... I honestly think if they made the FOV better for Killer that would solve a lot of problems. It completely hinders accessibility on more than a few levels.
    6. Map sizes - They should really not have some maps as big as Brazil while others are the size of a mere city.... Makes everything harder to handle for which side??? YOU GUESSED IT... KILLER....Yayyyyyy......

I play both sides about the same in this game. Maybe a bit more Survivor and I have to say playing Survivor actually feels really good when you are not camped or tunneled. But playing Killer....its just not fun. And I have no idea how they could make it fun besides changing that default FOV and putting mechanics in the game to ENCOURAGE Killer players to NOT CAMP/SLUG/TUNNEL.... They are the devs. Have to rely on them to use their brains to make this ######### work. Just putting my 50cents in and proclaiming what I witness all day when streaming this game.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

It sounds like you haven't run into a good killer yet. Only so many killer players out there at the moment. Give it time. You'll definitely miss the meta perks against a high level killer

I think what they're saying is maybe certain Killers are just better than others. They should really try to bridge the gap between Killers like Nurse and Trapper. Its a night and day difference. Do whatever you have to do. The fact that I can pick any Survivor and perform the same, but switch Killers and have to completely relearn everything is kind of off putting. You don't have to make them identical, but don't make Killers like Spirit, Blight, and Nurse, if every other Killer you make can't even compete with how good those few can be... Very bad balancing.. And don't even get me started on SWF. Some SWF can make even those 3 Killers sweat...

Survivors: I DC if Killers use any <Killers/perks/maps/tactics> I don't like.

Also Survivors: I insult Killers if they use any <Killers/perks/maps/tactics> I don't like.

Also, Also Survivors: I insult Killers if they don't give final Survivor a free escape! Be happy with the 3K! But don't expect a free kill, ever! Sweatlord!

Also, Also, Also Survivors: Don't ever camp, tunnel, or slug! Because my fun matters more!

Also, Also, Also, Also Survivors: Why are my queues 15 minutes?!

If they made Killer feel as fluid as Survivor I think more people would play. Playing Survivor has the fluidity of playing a Call of Duty. Fast, smooth animations, and everything. Playing Killer feels like playing Bubsy 3D. Janky animations, clunky movement, jittery ass camera with super low FOV by default. Killer is abysmal. Just being an idealist I could have this game become more enjoyable over night with total control of what the devs are doing for a day of course.

  • Rewrite that code. This is what we call settling for less.

  • Both P - heads of course. Dynamic duo.

  • Nah.... I don't really feel like it... I'm kinda in the mood for tacos.

I'm sure the minority groups who are likely going to be upsst will be very appreciative of you laughing.

If we get the fnaf community we might actually be worse than the nuclear wasteland levels of LoL.

There's that unfathomable pessimism I expect from a true DBD player. People like you will be the ones I laugh right in the face of WHEN it happens. I'm not saying it will happen soon, but WHEN it does....the busted out laughter shall begin. FNAF has more brownie points than you give it credit for and it certainly could easily fit into DBD whether people like you want it to or not.

  • This is what I was thinking. Slenderman would be a huge surprise to be sure.

  • Yea the "alleged" leakers were going to reveal the chapter anyway so BHVR had no choice but to announce it as early as they did. I hope it doesn't happen for the 6 year anniversary...

    ???

Are we all just ignoring the Condemned mechanic as well as her insane map mobility via TV teleporting?

As much as I love stealth as killer I'm not expecting her to just be completely silent and invisible that's unrealistic. There has to be audio cues of some kind, especially when she has other elements present in her kit. The lullaby may be counterintuitive to a stealth oriented playstyle but she seems like a Jack of all trades similar to Pig (Except with amazing map pressure and mobility).

Anybody who says this Killer is OP....is a real deal "idiot".

Also anything that is MAP DEPENDENT doesn't mean #########. Try Condemning people constantly on Ormond. Overall, Sadoko's Power is pure garbage.

  • Not adding anything new yet again besides the "Condemned" status effect is just straight up LAZY. I use that word more than I see any other poster on these forums, but hey it is the WHOLE TRUTH. They are LAZY. If the game engine is that bad to where its hard to program new mechanics into the game then I still blame them for their choice to keep the game in the engine that it is currently in. When Freddy got changed the first time and he was so overwhelming for people....THAT was exactly how powerful I think all Killers should be. The fact that they nerf Killers as much as they do will end this game sooner rather than later. They can only ignore it for so long, unless DBD really does have a much larger amount of fools than I presume, just purchasing cosmetics left and right, fueling the laziness and laid back attitude of the developers to continue...

  • Very underwhelming Killer. Sucks to say..

  • @Lord_Xylum said:

    YES PLEASE.

Eliminate the 360 Tech and the FOV Tech at the same time.

Bingo. Neither of them make any sense anyway. They talked about adding more immersion to the environments and game in general during the last anniversary, and doing this would be one of the easiest ways to do it in terms of "game feel", especially as Killer.

behavior weren't really the smartest people to make shadowborn a perk, haha

though, the game does look sick with shadowborn, try it for yourself and you will not want to go back

Agreed. Either make Shadowborn base for Killers in general or give us a FOV slider. Even just standing back and looking at the game objectively, its obvious when seeing Survivors get that close to the Killer on purpose and the Killer losing them looks so stupid. Like huh? What just happened? Audience and player immersion simultaneously gone.

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

Half the survivor "techs" will be gone if they do that. They can't...

Then I guess they should realize it wasn't as good of a game idea to begin with. Just fix the FOV and make it more accessible. Let more people try Killer out. It would certainly get rid of that unrealistic 360 tech that completely ruins the immersion as Killer. The Survivor gets closer to you...so you lose track of the Survivor.. Nobody can tell me that even thinking that sentence makes sense...

I understand. 2 of the 3 of my really close friends can't even watch me play as Killer due to the FOV. My mom also LOVES the Horror genre as a whole and she was so excited to see Pinhead get in, but she too couldn't enjoy watching me play as him due to the FOV in this game. It really sucks. I wish they would realize the FOV for Killer in this game actually stops people from even trying it out due to that wonky way too zoomed in FOV.. Here is to hoping...

I just don't get it, it would make total sense he makes that face when he mori the survivor right? when he calls the chains and make the head movement.

Watch the movies. He has a straight face most of the time as someone is being ripped apart. He also laughs at times too, but it wasn't very appropriate with the mori they gave him. It is perfect the way it is.

  • Get rid of the I-Frames... Just give them distance. That way there is none of that last second perfect Dead Hard BS when you are right on their ass and do a quick hit. If the Killer is THAT CLOSE to them in chase the quick hit would now be prioritized as the hit box is already out before the new Dead Hard, which now has no I-Frames.

    @Laurie268 said:

I mean survivors feel the same when playing against a good nurse, your skill doesn’t matter if she is good enough you will go down. Same with blights/onis that know how to flick

Difference is there are FAR FEWER perfect Nurse players compared to the # of people who can use Dead Hard even decently. Being that good with a Nurse requires tons of practice whereas using Dead Hard to even 2/3 of its full potential is like taking candy from a baby.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2752854#Comment_2752854

That won't happen. It's too hard to implement. How will the killer choose the totem spawn? DO you get to run around the map looking for the perfect place? That's counter-productive and would waste a ######### ton of time. Not to mention it would imply that all dull totems wouldn't spawn until the killer places their hex, so now all of a sudden you're nerfing survivor perks at the same time. Blocking totems is the easiest way to ensure you get value with minimal impact to the current gameplay.

I just figured have a top-down view of the map for Killer as the game is starting with certain spots marked then just drag the Perk icons for each HEX you have into the developer chosen spots on each map. Just assume they would implement it as to not be worrying about tedious "how much time does it take" questions...... Done. I know it will never happen, but me mentioning it wouldn't affect that either way, because let's face it they aren't going to go with that block totems idea either....

  • Let the Killer pick the Hex Totem Spawn. In preset locations of course. The only risk of bringing a Hex should be that it can be destroyed. Not oh it is randomly in the most obvious spot seen by all players at the start of the match....

  • I agree it is pretty stupid. They got rid of toolboxes being able to sabotage Trapper's traps so why not let Wraith free from that flashlight BS.

  • I wanted them to make him be able to set chains up as traps in particular locations, but on the walls like Symmetra in Overwatch. And when a Survivor comes near the chain would latch onto them and they'd have to break free like a Trapper bear trap, but no using the environment to break them and other Survivors CAN NOT assist you. I wish that was where they went with it. Imagine setting up a few good chains in choke points or EVEN being able to set 1 chain at a time on a pallet to keep it from being dropped. There was a lot of potential with him. I struggle to see how they ended up at what he has, but I like the whole idea of his head motioning with the chains movement. That's okay.

They should really not let him break his own chains. Just give him the dissolve effect when his body moves through them like when he vaults a window for instance. That electric dissolve effect. Letting him walk through his own chains would be the best thing they could give him IMHO.

  • You have to be smart enough to know when to ignore the fans of your game. The "quick scope" whining was just the flavor of the month back then. Now nobody cares. I loved Deathslinger. I thought the idea worked really well. They destroyed that with the CLUNKY and UNDERWATER feeling now though.

If a character in a 1st person game aims quickly then it gets changed later it will always feel worse. THAT specific change was NOT the way to fix it. Typical BHVR though..sadly..

  • You have to remember. They might not even know how to fix it lol.

  • I love this idea, but BHVR would never do that. Too many people would wine. xD

  • 10,000 Shards for the effort/money I spent on that character. Thanks BHVR. :)

  • You aren't the only one. Anyone I have ever brought into the game that tried Killer unfortunately wanted to play as Nurse and that experience set the mood for the entire game for them....meaning.. they never play again. xD

  • People screaming for Pinhead's voice to come back were definitely listened to. I think some people just are not patient, which is required to understand the process as a whole.

  • I just made a thread about Licensed Killers that they missed the mark on. Nemesis was my reasoning for it. :) He indeed does not feel like THE NEMESIS of the Resident Evil series..

  • The game is Survivor sided. Not sure why that is such a big pill to swallow.

    Except this would be abused:

In a 2-3 man SWF? 2 gens left & 1 gen is at 90%? One of your friends DCs and now 1 gen is complete. Pop the 90% one in 3 seconds. No need to do another from 0%!

The Survivors don't need a mechanical REWARD to make the match easier when someone DCs.

What SHOULD happen is that the DCers earned BP is spread to everyone left in the match, Killer included.

1 DC: The 3 Survivors & 1 Killer get your BP divided amongst them.

2 DCs: The 2 Survivors & 1 Killer get that BP divided amongst them.

    Etc.

Same for if the Killer DCs; the 4 Survivors get his earned BP divided amongst them.

This way, even if Survivors now lose; they're getting more BP out of the match.

Make the system use the rule when there are 4 solo players only. Done.

I know OP was being a pretty big jerk, and a lot of what he said about smash and other games trying harder isn't exactly correct, but he did have one solid point: the game relies way too much on other franchises to keep it afloat.

To be fair, there are plenty of original killers, and they're all pretty cool, but the trademarked killers are the ones with the power to draw in new players. I'd taken a break from the game myself, then returned to it when I heard Cheryl and Pyramidhead were introduced. One character made me, a person who said, 'never again' say 'well, maybe just to check it out'. Step back, and ask yourselves one question: if the trademark killers never happened, and original killers took their place...would this game still be around?

Not once in the evolution of the game have we received another game mode, or alternate win conditions for survs/killers. So much potential overlooked for the sake of cosmetics-items that don't even influence the game, swag made of code and nothing more. Maybe...maybe it's time for something new?

I appreciate the constructive feedback. Sometimes being a jerk is what is needed to drive home the ######### point.
