  • Wraith is surprisingly good for BP, all things considered. I haven't played much blight or legion but can also confirm Doc is a BP machine

BBQ and Chili is going to be the single biggest factor in BP farming though. If you don't have that, Bubba is worth the price just for that perk alone

  • @zoozoom6 said:

i am pretty sure its faster to just grind the bp on billy than it is to get enough shards to get it on the shrine

I second this. You're probably looking at 1 to 1.2 million BP to get Billy to level 40. If you're using BBQ and BP offerings, you can get a million BP in 10-12 killer matches (not including tome challenges). So that can be done in a single long session. Shards are intentionally grindy as hell to get, so I think it would legitimately take much longer to buy it from the shrine from scratch

  • WGLF. Gimme them bloodpoints

  • Seems like that's a minority opinion but I find blight to be underwhelming in every sense of the word. Cannot stand playing as him and find him boring to play against too. Feels like there are several killers that do the things he does but better and/or less annoyingly

  • I hadn't played much lately but was planning to hop back on to grind out some halloween skins. Now, with the PS4 issues and THIS... ######### that, there are better games to play

It feels like BHVR is actively trying to destroy their playerbase with these kinds of decisions

  • I've been playing on and off since Clown came out, but I don't think I've ever seen the PS4 frame rate getting this bad. Here's the first 50 seconds of the only killer match I played post-patch

    https://youtu.be/YwEdzGlc7qE

I don't really know what to say. It's really disappointing for this issue to pop up right around the Halloween event

  • Usually getting pallet stunned annoys me. But when I'm playing Wraith and he starts making elephant sounds as he takes a pallet to the face, it always makes me laugh

  • I'd be happy with just not removing bloodlust when a pallet is broken, and then maybe either slightly increasing the time needed for a bloodlust stack or slightly reducing the movement speed buff to compensate if needed

  • I generally am always trying not to actively tunnel or run moris or OP add-ons unless for a rift challenge, and I'll give hatch to the last survivor if they didn't BM

But if the last 2 survivors are going to hide forever, I will take the time to find them and make sure they bleed out on the floor after that. There really needs to be some crows that become active if the survivor has not done totems or gens within a few minutes. Most obnoxious thing in the game right now

Thank you I'll definitely find a good spot for the sensitivity on her

PS I forgot to mention, but this is the all around best nurse guide video I've found. OhTofu is also just a great content creator in general. Imo, the most helpful part of this guide (that is pretty counter-intuitive) is to learn to blink to where the survivors broke line of sight, not where you think they're going to be. Very good strategy to get used to using

    https://youtu.be/BwYQImUDgXo

Edit: And now that Plaid Flannel is a brown add-on, that's probably a great idea to use that for the first 5-10 matches. Will help you build muscle memory for blink distances

  • I second SupaAlf. Honestly though, you might be better off waiting until PS5 to learn nurse. Not saying it's impossible but every match, you'll be fighting against the survivors, the bugs, AND the FPS. It would take twice the effort a PC nurse would take. You just don't have the same tools on console. I used to play a lot of PS4 nurse and I'm just waiting for the next console at this point before I try again

As far as sensitivity goes, max is helpful if you can get used to it, but I always found the sweet spot was somewhere between 70-90 for me personally. Too high and your blinks will end up comically far off from where you want. Too low and you won't be able to spin fast enough. So I'd definitely recommend experimenting with that. But 70 absolute minimum

  • Came here to say this. Between this and the other bugs, I'm just going to put the game down for a few months and check back later to see if things are ironed out. This is 10x more frustrating than fun to play right now

Video attached to show what's happening. Internet speed is testing at 84 Mbps download/ 12 Mbps upload a few minutes after this happened, so it's not my internet causing the problem

    https://youtu.be/jrjri3VnXuo

  • Yeah, I turned crossplay off because of it. As a killer, you will frequently end up missing an attack because you just don't have the frames needed to see where a survivor is going

As a survivor, things run much more smoothly but skill checks are weirdly "jumpy" and there is some input lag as well. Not much of an issue for good skill checks but great skill checks can be borderline impossible sometimes just because you can't tell where the little cursor is at. Can be kind of annoying

But yeah... it's purely performance for me. If console and PC had equal FPS, I'd turn crossplay back on

  • I really would love to be able to opt for a "performance" setting. There's no point in playing the game if it looks beautiful for each of the 5 frames you get per second. I'd take hideous graphics at 60 fps any day

I reinstalled after taking a break with the game. The couple killers I played seemed to run OK but pyramid head for whatever reason is just constantly floating at 5-10 FPS. It is almost unplayable right now

  • They need to nerf moris and keys at the same exact time. Honestly I feel like the game would be in a better place if they just straight up deleted them both imo. Making it so moris can only happen with devour/rancor, and hatch escapes can only happen as the last surv. That would remove so much frustration for the entire playerbase

But with that said... yellow moris should be basekit. Because that's just fun and it has almost 0 impact on the actual match. Ivory and Ebony should get deleted though, as with all keys/addons that can open hatch imo

  • No more reason to play wraith, p3 claudette is now the ultimate invisible killer

  • ... Dude... how have I never seen this? Is that a newer option? I would play 240p with super nintendo graphics if it meant 30 fps. Seriously, thank you for the PSA. I haven't played in awhile but I will definitely swap that on if I end up coming back to the game

This might make nurse a hell of a lot more bearable on ps4

  • I'd play against SWF when using a stronger killer. But if I'm in the mood for a Clown game or something, no way I wouldn't opt out

  • I feel like a major point is being missed here - the devs said the rift could be completed with an hour of play per day for the 70 days of the rift, if all the challenges were completed. That is comically inaccurate

I played probably 150 hours on the first rift and didn't hit tier 55 (had about 95% of the challenges done too). I think people would be a lot less angry about the whole rift thing if:

A - It took as long as they said it would (and not 2-3x longer)

B - If doing all the challenges got you closer to tier 70. It's kind of ridiculous that you can do all the challenges and still have to grind your way up from somewhere around tier 40/50. Means it's less about skill and more about just taking an absurd amount of time. Especially since match performance has virtually no impact on XP/shard progress

  • I think that's the point here though. If Spirit goes up against a good SWF team but plays perfectly, the killer can win a close game

If Clown goes up against a good SWF team but plays perfectly, the killer gets stomped into the ground. That's a problem

  • I want blindness to be balanced and cost me nearly as much as an ebony mori, or iri head or infinite tier 3 add-on... since blindness is 100% exactly as useful as those... so rust-colored egg is perfect for me

  • This is what worries me about the graphical update. If console can't get decent FPS with the OLD graphics, what's the FPS going to be with the new stuff? 4 powerpoint slides per minute?

  • That's a pretty solid perk build, honestly. Some others you might want to consider:

    • Shadowborn (wraith teachable) - increases FOV. Pretty much only good on the Nurse. Makes it easier to keep track of survivors during fatigue and also helps a bit with 360s and corn blindness
    • Infectious Fright (plague teachable) - This is just a great killer perk for a bunch of killers, but particularly for insta-down killers and the Nurse. You can snowball very quickly with this
    • Corrupt Intervention (plague teachable) - For the first 120 seconds of the game, the farthest 3 gens are blocked. Helps a lot with keeping the early gen rush down and forces survivors towards you. Great killer perk in general
    • Monitor and Abuse (doctor teachable) - This pairs well with nurse's calling and infectious fright. When not in a chase, your terror radius will be 24m, which will allow you to see auras with Nurse's calling before survivors hear your terror radius. When IN a chase, your terror radius will be 40m. Since the range of infectious fright is based off of your terror radius, that effectively makes infectious more useful
  • Not saying new ruin is useless, but there's a good reason why old ruin was used in 80+% of matches and new ruin is not

  • Hag. Not for any balance reasons but just because whenever I inadvertently step on that first trap, I always ######### my pants

  • @Endstille said:

Yes it should be removed. It encourages bubba play, run up behind a play and instadown them because you are not able to waste any attempt of your saw. Sorry why bother to attempt flicks, curves when you will be punished in order to go for the skilled play?

It is another unfun mechanic nobody asked for that will remove a fun part from dbd.

    https://youtu.be/epc57hSWQ8U

Do not let that be a thing of the past.

Well said. 100% should be removed

  • You must be joking. Clown is the most oppressive killer in the game. He should have a 40 second cooldown between bottle reloads because he has to go back to the clown lab and mix up another batch of tonic. And he needs his basespeed reduced to 50% so he can chase survivors around on a tiny unicycle. THEN he will be the most balanced killer

  • @OldHunterLight said:

Pig, has a chance of 50% to trap her head on her own head, if she doesn't take it off, she dies and gets the 5 min ban penalty.

I think this is a great nerf.

Just did it for the lols

Seeing the pig using all the jigsaw boxes would be hilarious. I could also see "We felt the killer didn't have enough options to forfeit the match, so we have added the pig exclusive hara kiri ability with her reverse bear traps."

    @Zoomies said:

Freddy: Since he can teleport, his ability to move around has been removed. He can ONLY teleport from generator to generator. We feel Freddy was getting too many kills, and this should balance that.

The Shape: He now walks slower than any Survivor. In fact, if a Survivor slows down, the Shape will also slow down. This brings him more in line with his movie appearances.

The Hag: Killers now have to use their mouse or controller to make the glyph shape themselves. If they don't get it 100% correct, it is not an active glyph. We feel this will add skill to the Hag.

The Huntress: If she's hit with 3 pallets, her mask will shatter and she will run off the map. This counts as an escape for Survivors. We feel this will reward Survivors for playing risky and dropping pallets.

The Clown: If he breathes in his own tonic, he will start to hallucinate and walk in random directions regardless of player input.

Ghost Face: if Survivors press a button that says 'Think about Ghostface', it will break his Night Shroud. Because it's not already too easy to do so.

Deathslinger: He only has 4 bullets before he can't fire his gun anymore. And if his chain breaks once, it's broken for the remainder of the map.

I'm on board with everything. Having to lure survivors to generators just to smack them once sounds like finally some proper Freddy balancing

Damn straight. The penalty for rushing out of the calisthenics cooldown is a muscle sprain. Nurse must return to her office for treatment and the survivors all escape

Spirit: fine as it is because she has lots of counters

Legion: now the friendzy only allows you to run, not to hit survivors, and the cooldown is increased to 8 seconds

I like it. We can spin this as a buff to Legion's intimidation factor

  • Here's the new ruin experience a decent amount of the time at red ranks. Even if you make a bee line to the totem, sometimes it's not fast enough:

    https://youtu.be/3QufMopcp0U

I always ran old ruin but almost never run the new version unless I'm testing it out. It's pretty solid when it doesn't get broken for a few minutes but I'd run it a whole lot more if the effect was reduced to about 1/8 or 1/4 of what it is now in exchange for it not being a hex perk. Old ruin would also often get broken within the first minute but it would at least provide some benefit within that first minute, whereas this needs more time to deliver any useful stall time for the killer. Corrupt and pop seem to be much more consistently good perks imo

  • Also had an issue with Oni. Had used blood fury 3ish times earlier in the match, but then had the passive bar regen take it to 100% and couldn't use the ability for about 2 minutes (it worked again after I hooked someone, oddly enough)

  • I feel like Nurse's is practically a must for him. I've tried I'm all ears and seem to just never get any real benefit out of it, even though it sounds perfect on paper

For red ranks, he just needs a whole lot of slowdown to stand a chance. I've been having a lot of luck with Corrupt, sloppy, nurse's and discordance

  • My go to plague build is: BBQ/ Infectious/ M&A/ Thana

BBQ is great in general and I always want double BP. M&A allows you to sneak in close and get the infection going, and also pairs well with Infectious (larger terror radius in chase means you get a larger range for Infectious when you get a down). Thana forces them to choose whether or not to cleanse and kind of puts them in a lose lose situation. If they don't cleanse, reduced speed on everything. If they do, you get more fountains

  • Come to PS4. 24/7/365 you'll have killer queues ranging from instant to 30 seconds (you'll just be dealing with a lot of rainbow ranks and SWF, hence why the queues are quick). Survivor will really vary depending on time and when new content comes out. Fastest I've seen is 2 minutes. Longest is around 30 minutes if it's a really weird hour of the day. You can probably bank on 5-15 minutes though

This would be an especially pernicious, victimizing rationale. That's like a Vegas casino level of thought. I know they are a company and they of course like money, but I have to hope their philosophy is a little better than this. The game existed for three years without this system in it, so this would be poor justification.

I definitely don't disagree with anything you've said. And that would indeed be a poor justification. I'm just struggling to find any other rationale for that design decision

  • Honestly, I think the only explanation is that they want the rift to take longer. AKA they want you to spend actual real world money to unlock more tiers on the rift. Every other game that has a set of challenges or achievements has them unlock whenever the challenge description is met, regardless of being selected. I can think of no reason other than that they want some poor schmuck to buy 50 tiers on the rift because they ran out of time and really wanted that shiny charm at tier 70

I have done the "sacrifice all 4 survivors in the basement" twice now... but never had the challenge selected :( Life is pain

  • Super strong in the right hands. More of a 2 out of 10 on the fun scale right now though

  • Even on console, nurse is still arguably the strongest killer in the game. I'd just argue her problems are bugs and that the basekit changes sucked all the fun out of playing her

I would LOVE if they tweaked the numbers on some of the recharge addons so there was at least one option to play old 2 blink basekit nurse again, with no blink recharge cooldown. Omega blink and 3-5 blink nurse was unfair but I feel like the previous nurse basekit was perfectly balanced

  • Would be great if the recharge mechanic was removed. I don't care if they increase fatigue time to compensate. The recharge makes her miserable to play. She's still strong and I can still win with her but I'd have more fun sticking my hand in a blender than playing a match with her anymore

BHVR might as well have deleted her from the game with the basekit changes they made

  • Easily Demogorgon. Glad he's fun to play against but he's pretty miserable to play as

  • @edgarpoop I'd be very on board with changing it like that too. And fully agreed - I'm a middling Nurse player at best but I can still win most of the time with her. It really does feel like work though, and I don't know that the same could be said about any other killer.

@ActulCasul For me personally, I found the new 100 sensitivity had me accidentally blinking 20 yards off from where I wanted haha. The new 70 feels perfect for me but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to have the option to kick that up further than the current limits. I fully agree though. The thought process during a chase for the current Nurse is:

    • Track survivor
    • Check recharge bar
    • Need to wait
    • Track survivor again
    • Check recharge bar
    • Need to wait
    • Track survivor again
    • Check recharge bar
    • Ok, it's ready
    • Track survivor again
    • Charge blink

Whereas, the thought process during a chase for old Nurse was:

    • Track survivor
    • Charge blink
  • Just chiming in to say I wholeheartedly agree - I think this would kick up Demo's pick rate. Rat tail is the Demo equivalent of moldy electrode for Doc. Feels really off to play them without it

  • I'm an idiot and didn't read the full explanation, thought you were talking about upgrading pyramid head and cheryl perks. I'd like to retroactively change my vote to No, it's fine the way it is

  • Take this all with a grain of salt, as I have always, and will always, think that the DBD cosmetics store is one of the most ridiculous micro-transaction situations I have personally seen in any video game. I am also a disgruntled 60/40 killer/survivor player that stopped playing months ago but still comes to the forums once in awhile because I've spent too much time on this game. Having a blast with RE Resistance right now. Anyways, with all that said:

The fact that you can find a handful of mobile games with otherwise predatory micro-transactions handing out more free stuff than a console/PC game... that is absolutely ridiculous imo. The fact that the DBD mobile gives you the ability to grind out auric cells when the console/PC versions do not - that makes my head want to explode. The mobile version should have literally 0 advantages to the console/PC version aside from being accessible away from a TV or monitor (let's not even get into the conversation about bots). DBD mobile, and every asymmetrical multiplayer competitor to this game giving free cosmetics, shows that there is truly no good reason for these to not be offered for free, or at a dramatically lower cost than what they're currently sold for. The entire game costs $20-$30. I have no problem paying for a DLC character but assuming a $12 full set cosmetic cost, how does a new cosmetic require as much work as 40-60% of the entire game did? Based on the pricing, that would not be an unrealistic assumption. Even if DBD was only a mobile game, that pricing would feel predatory

  • @aregularplayer said:

the correct question is: why did you quit dbd and are on the forums yet?

Same reason I stuck around other forums for a bit after quitting those games. I've spent too much time playing this game to disengage from it right away. I also grabbed a bag of popcorn to watch the dumpster fire after recent changes

And to be fair, I still enjoy watching some streamers play this occasionally. For me, seems much more fun to watch it rather than play it anymore

  • I quit 2 months ago and still feel pretty good about that decision. Long story short, killer straight up feels more stressful than my ######### job. Solo surv is annoying when A.) You get hook farmed or B.) You do 4 of 5 totems and still end up being the first one hit with NOED because you're on team potato salad. Otherwise, it's easy street and boring

I play games to have fun and this one just stopped being any fun on either side. Very much not a fan of BHVR's communication the past few months as well

  • Hahaha I am all for it. Collect lighter fluid and duct tape around the map to repair your totems

  • Great point, that would definitely be ideal if it's something both sides have some measure of control over. I like to imagine the animation of a killer putting a broken totem back together looks like the dad from "a christmas story" gluing the leg lamp back together hahaha

  • @Ancheri said:

That basically extends the game in the killer's favor only. Survivors must cleanse the totems to get out. However, making it profitable for one side only certainly affects overall kill/survival rates, meaning other things need to be balanced as a result.

I was thinking about a way to encourage people to do the side objective without forcing them. Give them an advantage, if they manage to complete the task or punish them for not doing so. If that feature is balanced by itself, it doesn't necessarily affect overall statistics.

True, I definitely agree the change would be much more favorable towards killers rather than survivors. I'm a bit biased on this as I'm of the mind that the gens go too fast, but I do see your point. I was kind of looking at a second objective on top of what's already needed to escape, in order to make the games last longer.

If it was going to be set up to keep the balance exactly as it is, then the idea I had would definitely not work for that. To your point - doing totems would then either provide a bonus or a penalty for not doing them. Seems like any penalty short of NOED would just be ignored.

As for a bonus, you could only really make gens go faster (i.e. do a totem, get an immediate 25% on a gen or something). Anything above that like adding an original mettle of man shield or increased movement speed would be broken. I don't know, it's hard to find a way to make the 2nd objective bonus/penalty feel worthwhile without making it overpowered

  • I had been thinking the same thing, though I do agree that auto-NOED would be a bit strong. Seems like they could make totems a legitimate 2nd objective by just having the entity block the exit gate switches until all the totems are broken. That way, survivors have to do all the gens + break all the totems to escape - totems becoming the secondary objective. The order doesn't matter, you just need to break 5 totems and do 5 gens at some point. You would need to include a totem counter then but imo it seems like that would be pretty balanced
