there is literally no middle ground with totems, it always spawn right on top of a hill in front of a gen where the survivors also spawn or its lerys and its inside one of the waste baskets.

  • nice try sluzzy

  • only when someone is dying on the hook

  • time for scott jund to make a video about it

  • The site R-word is strangely banned too.

  • both ruins are bad, old ruin punishes new and bad survivors who can't hit great skill checks while it doesn't always work against higher skilled survivors who can hit those skill checks. but it was useable on all killers.

new ruin has the problem where it rewards killers who are monster at pressuring the survivors off of gens, this makes the perk weak or pointless to run on killers who can't constantly push people off of gens because they don't have the mobility or down people fast enough because they don't have good chase potential.

  • why would you want killers to not use franklin's? when they could use that perkslot for even more game slow down or worse noed lol

  • most of the killer gameplay are dull to watch because people only upload gameplay where they have survivors literally throwing themselves at the killer or falling for super basic mind game or the team is super inefficient at gens when the killer is occupied, its frustrating to watch how badly everyone plays. like i wish my survivors were that potato. but i guess it makes the poster feel good wrecking survivors. lol.

  • - 1st match, 1k with noed. Playing in rank 8.

     - paired with similar ranks 6-7-10. easy game against a baby rank 19 killer because he couldn't catch anyone. Queue time was good.

    - 2nd match, 1k. shape spent all game trying to t3 to use the tombstone. only got one hook because everyone left already.

     - paired with green ranks mostly. killer rank 16.

    - 3rd match. 2k with 6 hooks. pyramid head played pretty normally.

     - ranks 5-11.

    - 4th match, someone rage quits. bubba rank 5 decided to set up a tent and tunneled us and i assumed everyone died after that.

     - paired with red ranks 2-2-3.

    - 5th match 1k, rank 20 spirit.

     - rainbow rank survivor, 4-11-13. 3 hooks.

    - 6th match, 0k 4 hooks. r16 demogorgon.

     - survivor ranks 4-4-9 i'm 7 now.

    - 7th match, demo R1 tunneled me off of first hook. i'll just assume they 4k, because zero gens were getting done an ruin really messed with the survivors. i had a few thousand points over the other survivors even tho i died first.

     - s.ranks. 3,4,6

    - 8th match, R2 Iridescent Huntress. ######### this, we had people bring streamers and cakes. =-=

     - mm started to slow down, took 4-5 minutes to find a match.

     - 3,4,5

    - 9th match, R11 trapper 7 hooks. had to do 4 out of the 5 gens. =-=

     - 2,4,4

    - 10th, R9 Spirit with super recharging addons. died at 3 gens, but it looked like they could finish them if they play their cards right. can't be bothered to watch how it plays out.

     - 2,4,5

from the survivor pool it doesn't look too terrible, the teammates don't seem as bad as pre mmr, only 2-3 of them did i saw other survivors playing poorly or bad at commiting. killer's i face seem to be a mix bag, a lot of them seem to be very experienced and like to do low rank stuff that's bad for their games.

will update more as i play and when i play killer.

    - 1 killer match. 1K Twins on Ormond. **three red ranks** one purple, current rank 7.

    - 2, 0k autohaven twins. all red.

    - 3, 1k twins. autoheaven again. **all red ranks.** (i am not enjoying getting matched with any of these people so far, they're really rude in the endgame chat too t-t)

    - 4, 1k switched over to the pig. all red. groaning store house was a #########, but gameplay wise a bit less frustrating than the others.

    - 5, 4k, switched to huntress using _that_ addon. **three purples one green. **

    - 6, 4k, huntress again with yellow addons as a controlled test. rank **5,5,10,14**

    - 7, 3k huntress again with yellow addons, on haddonfield with a key. it looks like some killers matchmake faster than others, the huntress queue only took a few seconds. **1,4,5,9**

    - 8, 4k, huntress yellow addons. ranks 5,5,6,13.

    - 9, 4k, Plague. using only seal extra infectious time. all red ranks.

    - 10, 4k, plague but one person rage quit. r 9,12,12 and a yellow rank.

Overall killers matches seem to be a bit a more hard, not in a sense of survivors running better, I find their looping pretty average compared to the survivors I versed pre mmr. But I do notice a significant shift in gen efficiency, survivor's are doing gens way faster and doing them on far corners. which even with fast chases means i can't defend them very well.

will update more as i play and when i play killer.

  • ugh finally a twins cosmetic idea that isn't _chucky and tifanny_ (i love them but they don't deserve to be meer cosmetic items)

OP this is super creative, I honestly really love it. Seeing her pick up and collect after other killers some how fits into her story too.

  • If you wanna count it as a fun party game in kill your friends mode than I think that score is fair.

But if you're looking to play it long term than that is way too high.

    • Only one game mode
    • Holiday "events" are just glorified free promotion to get people to buy PAID ONLY cosmetics. No unlockables. No extra modes. No variation in the gameplay.
    • The progression is garbage. The hundreds of perks with three tiers each. With both sides using at most just 12 different ones combined. a lot of garbage to sort thru. Not to mention all the garbage addons and items. The most they ever did to alleviate the stupid grind post legacy was when they introduced the paid battle pass but that doesn't even cover getting one character to level 40.
    • Performance is a joke especially on console,
    • Bugs happen often enough if you play regularly that it can throw your whole match off.
    • terrible map collision
    • Some games have questionable match making. but dbd's matchmaking is a whole different kind of beast itself since things like parties can throw it all to whack and change a whole trial's gameplay loop.
    • A ton of paid content.
    • reptitive killer powers and designs just being repurposed powers of one another. but it looks like they twins and trickster wants to test the waters out to be more experimental.

On those merits I'd knock it down a few more steps. Maybe a 5 or a 6.

If those first fours could be updated, and the game had more extra content and unlockables, a co-op only, practice or story mode I'd give it that 8 or 9 score maybe. hell i'd give it a 10/10 especially if they can have a scraping/dismantling system.

  • 4.4 is not needed. when we have killers like plague who have 4.6 ms and she's totally fine.

Not to mention killers like pyramid head who has a ranged ability that gives walls a middle finger and has his power up all game unlike the plague. the thing its all these 4.6 ranged killers have close to pseudo medium range, jiwoon's power falls more in line with plague's and pyramid head than huntress and caleb who can take away ONE health state WITH ONLY ONE SHOT.

woon needs to land EIGHT inaccurate KNIVES that has significant drop off on a survivor to take away their health state, and breaking line of sight among other things like not shooting them fast enough will drain the damage progression.

his engagement range are pretty bad and lends for him to use it close ranged more like pyramid head and plague than the other two true ranged killers that do deserve to play with 4.4

  • its not always easy to tell, but i like to look over to how comic books have handled it since its a medium that can explore relationships over a long period of time.

if its done out of tokenism there are normally two main red flags,

    1. the male gaze. having queer characters be made for the male gaze, not actually intended to bring to tell stories from people who might come in this community.

this normally means they go for the safest most least offensive lgbtqia+ persons, and that defaults to a 20 something, preferably white, with the most hetero normal assimilated type of woman they can muster.

this obviously is problematic, because queer people just like people of color, don't exists for the sake of validating or entertainment of people who aren't like them.

    2. you can normally see that these character's sexuality or sexual identity become their defining trait. where they don't have any strong character motivations or they don't really add to arcs that they're involved in.

Eventually once the buzz surrounding these characters get thrown on the way side, or are used to further the hetero character's plot. Or discarded all together because people don't find them very interesting as characters standing on their own two feet, in favor of more proven and established characters in the universe.

Marvel did this a lot in the 2010s in an effort to bolster the young adult demographics, but even one of the more high profile characters eventually got put on the backburner in favor older characters who already have an established fanbase and maybe one or two get to stick around.

The physical aspects of a characters sexuality is often a bigger deal than their actual emotional aspects of it it when the other straight characters in their world get to explore both healthy and unhealthy aspects of the physical and emotional sides of being in a relationship.

This aspect of representation isn't always black and white like the male gaze part and it can take a long time to surface if they intended to go down this route, sometimes writers and creators do mean mean well and want to do best for the characters. But they're often outright rejected from telling stories with representation or hampered by management where they have to tell the most white bread most blandest more non offensive lgbtqia representation, _they can be progressive but just don't rock the boat._ It can lead to queer people of color, disabled queers or people who don't fit into the hetero normative mold like fem men or masc women get erased from the narrative.

So its a case by case more often than not. but i believe like people, narratives and lore can always change and shift with time. characters like Harley and Ivy started off iffy but through character development, engaging stories and great portrayals they managed to make something good of the characters. and to think they managed to start it off from a kids show. like who woulda thought.

I think the nature of dbd's being lore heavy only outside the game, leaves them a lot of wiggle room for them to _not mess up._ Because we already see them doing it with their canonically straight characters.

  • bullying as a killer never feels as satisfying as bullying as a survivor, because when you take out swf out of the equation you just end up feeling like an ass at the end. as a survivor bullying feels good because the killer is supposed to be the power role and when you have 16 second chance perks between all of you and the power of coms, you really feel powerful when you bully a killer.

  • then they'll just say "plz cripple the spirits legs"

  • LMAO take it from someone who plays her on the regular, she's always been that way since we moved to dedicated. The servers or hit validation just hate her for some reason.

You can hear the survivors getting sick, they even play the sick animation but they aren't registered as sick. its super annoying with her corrupt too.

Its apart of why she has the worst pick rate in the game.

  • my totems kept spawning in front of gens. i've been running it nonstop and have yet gotten it to 5 yet. they always get cleansed in the first 80 seconds

  • Meg. so she can stop hoarding all the cosmetics from the other survivors.

  • I know his butt is hairy. I know it is.

Felix is high up there from what we've seen. David's model is actually a lot hairier than it looks in game.

  • I don't know about streamers. Fungoose and I think Jae has some videos on them on youtube.

I play her a lot at rank 1 (no rundying too) and my friends say my leaderboard score is good.. but I don't stream sadly. Don't have the bandwidth.

I would love getting into youtube if I have the time I saw most of the guides on youtube mostly only just focusing on builds, no one talks about what your gameplan should be and all the little techs she can do.

Plague is a good killer "when the game decides her power works". But she takes way too much effort to make her work well, and she has a ton of glaring weakness that survivors can hard counter her with and she doesn't always have the best time trying to recover from mistakes. So I can understand why people get so frustrated playing her for long amounts of time. Seeing a survivor scream and play the vommited animation only for the game not to register any of the vomits is super disheartening to watch. She also makes ######### bloodpoints and bhvr has barely given her any good cosmetics in years.

  • forcing "anti tunneling perks" on the killer when the killer is actively trying not to tunnel. bt bodyblocking, ds locker grab, ds unbreakable

  • we'd probably see less killers = longer queues.

because a lot more killer players will feel pushed out by not having that safety net and that time to play the game without feeling like getting gen rushed. only the strongest and sweatiest or people who can adapt once again will survive.

  • I agree they need to go. That's why I do my sides and break them.

  • There are way more people that play survivors regularly than killers do.

Survivors get rewarded little things throughout the match and this makes them feel good playing and they can play with friends so its more fun.

Killers on the other hand gets regular REDACTED kickings lol. Its trial by fire and for a lot of people it is simply far too stressful to play because they have to consistently micromanage every little thing and mistakes are punished harder and often times will throw the whole game than when playing on survivors which has teammates and some perks that can make mistakes more forgiving or nonexistent.

Another thing that probably made things worse was cross play, you think more people fine that should be great. but then you realize most of the console players are survivor players because no one enjoys playing killer because the performance and optimization is pretty bad on consoles. it messes with the killers power a lot, and on the network side i don't even know how wifi gamers would even be able to play. 🤣

So what happen was the pool for survivors got bigger, but the number of killers available online that played regularly didn't raise by any significant margin. This over time really started adding up.

  • it'll probably be nerfed when it goes on live, they don't want everyone to use all of them up right now lol. just like they didn't want people to spam moris before they nerfed them. they're probably doing something similar to keys, a lot of survivors are using them up right now just in case.

  • The game is balanced around survivors being able to survive. It basically kills any goodwill killers feel, especially at a low-mid level of play where killers feel like ######### for playing. It also doesn't help that survivors love to bully and harrass the killer in game, post chat and sometimes outside the game too for simply playing the game in a manner that they didn't like.

At higher levels of play or the more skilled killers who are adept in dealing with the game's way of balancing and sweat squad, just don't feel as rewarded for playing. As games are super polarizing one match its a full on sweat squad all on coms with object and sharing info with each other, and the next match they get boosted survivors who can't even run loops properly and the survivor harasses them in chat because they thought they were better than they actually were.

assuming bhvr hasn't done anything dramatic mm, over time this made things worse as higher skilled and more competent players left due to all the bugs that screwed them over or the general game health not being what they would like it to be. which meant all the lower skilled players rose through the ranks easier to fill in their place, which made the game feel less rewarding. this slowly bled away at the killer pool, as more players moved to the survivor side where they get more instant gratification and are far likely to "win".

  • @TotemsCleanser said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1863930#Comment_1863930

OP said that they would have their abilities the entire match. Hence you wouldn't need to wait for survivors to give you your power, and it would not be cancelled on pallet stun.

There is no question that Plague's power is the stronger one here. Probably the strongest in game. There's a reason why survivors do not cleanse when facing the Plague, and why she needs to travel the whole map to pick up her power, and also why it needs to be handed over to her by the survs. There's also very little you can do to counter her power.

Yes, Oni has insane mobility with his power, but you can actually juke, you can use a couple of pallets, a good timed window vault will also save you. Against Plague? Lmao.

    my mistake then.

I still believe an oni with a power all game can ######### you up harder because he has far higher mobility. you group up he ######### everyone up, you split up, you won't be able to pick each other up fast enough.

with plague you can still stealth her as she approaches at normal speed and she's got visual indicators, some loops are still too tight for her to puke around, hit detection is wonky.

  • 1 you can't cancel blood fury with a stun

2 isn't something that the survivors NEED to give to you to be able to use it

  • Yeah I hate that it doesn't stack, getting 250k in one month is _a snore_ reward, because we can easily get that many in barely five games if we run bbq and if we have streamers/puddings we can do that in two or so matches. LMAO.

If you're playing as much as you do to get to rank 1 then 250k is honestly not that much in the grand scheme of things. You can't even get all of a survivors teachable from that.

I supposed its better than nothing I guess. Eh who knows it could just be a placeholder for now. Future rewards should be in shards or cosmetics.

  • Plague. Since her release I've seen her maybe 12 times. I've seen twins in that number since the twins came out.

  • Charlotte needs something to do when you're not in control of victor.

Also punishing you for landing your pounces by the virtue of the survivors humping each other is annoying af.

  • I really don't bother healing unless the killer is playing a build that demands me to heal, like thanat. because most of the time i run resilience with provethyself.

  • no we self care in a corner for 50 seconds. /s

  • I can't find a situation to use it. The range is garbage and the cooldown makes it even worse. On top of all that, its a hex perk.

I really wanna use it especially on my hag and freddy. The range needs to be increased even more or if they had the time and resources they should make it follow the killer instead of the area of the hit.

  • This is just my opinion, but I'm sure its shared with some other people too.

Freddy is too strong. He's what people would say a "safe" character if you would compare what he does compared to the rest of the roster. He's like the Leroy Smith (Tekken 7) of the killer roster, very powerful tools, super simple gameplan, no timing or accuracy needed and everything easy to execute, that even a barely functioning killer can pick him up and play at the same level that a higher skill requirement killer requires..

Even as someone who plays more killer than survivors, with 6k+ hours in game and consistently being in the red rank I have to agree that he is way too strong for how 'safe' he is to use.

Freddy was given too many things in kit. Dream World, Lullaby, obliviousness which cancels BT one of the most common perks in the game, Wake up, active slowdown that doesn't slow him down or take away bloodlust, his teleportation and not to mention all the addons that add more things to his power(s). This really bloated him up.

Alone most of these are just fine minor inconveniences. But the problem is, survivors can be hammered with all of that at once and it can make even SWFs crack pretty easily under all that pressure. All of the powers needing no skill to use or input from freddy like the more passive parts of his perks makes him super easy to use.

Nurse is the most powerful killer in the game, but she needs to put in a lot of hours and it shows in the stats on why she's got such a low pickrate outside of red ranks,

    • she needs good hearing,
    • map awareness and tracking due to how slow she is when fatigued (freddy can just walk up to a survivor thats go the whiteish dreamworld aura),
    • she's got ms thats slower than the survivors,
    • she needs muscle memory to be able to charge and land where she needs to be,
    • she has to manage her cooldown,
    • she can't just spam her power or she will get punished with fatigue,
    • she has to experienced enough and technical enough to not get stuck or blocked/halted by terrain.

On top of everything once a nurse starts a block she has to commit to it and eat a fatigue. freddy doesn't get hurt by spamming his power, and he can fake his teleportation to waste the survivors time with now penalty to him.

Freddy is too good at everything right now being far too flexible, a jack of all traits character that's easy to execute is fine to have in any game. But it can't be more effective than other killers that are supposed to excel in their respective niche roles or aspect of the game that's just bad game design and it makes the rest of the roster obsolete when one character can do what multiple other characters can do but _better and more simple to execute_. (No we should've be buffing the rest of the roster when we already have feedback and the numbers to show that most of the roster is doing above average already, except for plague, everyone seems to hate plague for some reason )

If I had my way and was like given reigns to do anything I wanted with him. I would probably have the developers pick a side of either A. keeping him a jack of all traits killer, but reduce how effective his kit and addons are or B. Find what niche they want to keep strong about him, focus on strengthening that. than either hard nerf or trim the fat from his kit that aren't vital to that.

Personally I'm more on the camp of keeping Freddy as a versatile killer, I believe it is in everyone's best interest to have some gameplay variety during the match and not just hold M1 all game like legion games or press w and pre drop every pallet like clowns. Some of the game's best received killers are killers who can use their powers many situations, because it keeps things fun everyone when the killer doesn't just do one thing for the whole game.

  • I'm just praying they won't go the ez and safe cis route by making them Nea or Dwight. Maybe its someone who's tome we haven't gotten too yet.

I have bigger concerns with the game right now, so I'll just wait and see when they get to a character's tome one day. They have 50 something characters to choose from they'll have the time.

  • The perk is good. but the requirement of losing a generator for one hit is ridiculous as a chase shortener/ender when survivors can use deadhard for free every 40 seconds by four different survivors to buy one loop or another damn chase.

At best you'll get two-three uses of it in a match.

At worst you'll get five uses, but you're already losing the game at that point.

It'll probably be great on pig, demo, phead and caleb tho since they can down with m2.

  • I mean sure why not. The twins power was copied from a fan concept of tifanny and chucky anyways lol.

if they do, do chucky, i hope they can use his doll size as his primary and not some body swapping thing. unless its to swap and posses another survivor.

I can see how they can work some things around to take his height into consideration, with the things that we already have in game.

    • Sacrificing. Simply make a variety of the PHead's Cages and the Endgame Collapse sacrifice. so we don't need to have him awkwardly carry or drag Jeff and Jane around. No weird levitation gimmick needed, though it honestly wouldn't be that far fetched with his movie lore if he were granted such power in the Realm.
    • Camera/pov/fov/height. We know that short povs can work in the game, things are hard, but the graphics updates seem to be moving to where the maps are more forgiving to killers that have short pov. Just look at all the new short height loops they've been adding into the game since they started doing graphics updates. Grass is also more forgiving despite being more plentiful.
    • Rigging can be copied and reworked in the future, sort of like how hag was the progenitor to Freddy and Legion, for survivor sized killers. Demo being the proto for an unhuman humanoid killer, that opens up the door for killers like werewolfs/warecats/alien?.
    • Pallets and breakable walls, strength wise he's got dad strength in that body of his. So it'll just be a matter of arming him with the right weapon, he's known to break doors down. A scary thing they can do with breakable walls is make it so that instead of breaking them fully he just makes a hole big enough for him to go through. 💀 That would make a great passive power.

And based on if they use the first movie or the sequels that was done and owned Universal Studios (which I hope are the ones they can get a hold of), they have a huge potential library of legendary cosmetics to choose from. Every movie has at least two variation, then you'd have the Tiffany dolls and Glen/Glenda and they have two outfits or variation every movie. So they can quadroople their post launch potential.

  • its alright, use it but don't abuse it. the problem with using self care that most of the community has, is using it when they don't need to like running into a corner for 14 seconds and then doing the self heal action with sloppy on for 30 something second.. time where they could be better spent repairing a generator or looking for ruin/totems. and just wait until they run into each other.

  • whatever tier plague is in, a really cool killer not a bad killer. but a killer where survivors can literally hostage or ignore your power for 99% of the game.

I want them to be good, but they'll just endup being another plague situation where no one plays them.

  • oh lord not another plague situation where survivors control all the power

  • Because 19/20 times survivors just waste their time tbagging and clicking flashlights at the gates, most don't even have the courtesy to give the killer hits to give them a bit of bloodpoints at the end. The time wasted in end game collapsed is time they could've used to queue for and find another match.

Tldr; survivors just hurts their feelings and they waste time.

The disconnects are finicky like that. earlier this week the game disconnected me, I know it was the game and not my connection because i was connected to discord still and steam showed that I was still online. Lucky for me, ...for once. The penalty counter was working right for me and it was only five minutes. I've had a 15-30 minute one happened before, but I know that it can get worse, especially if you're a streamer or the survivors you face get extra salty and want to hack the game and slap a 24 hour penalty on you.

  • Because its the objective? Sort of like when I play killer and some smartass decides to get downed in the basement.

I don't go in with the mindset of doing it, but when given the opportunity why wouldn't I?

  • lowest picked killer yet again, no wonder there are no plague mains.

  • Do you have the hag already? she's a very unique killer and she's got devour hope and ruin on her.

But if you were to choose out of the two, you should consider that Oni is stronger and more straight forward to play, he's a mashup of a ton of other killers. Slinger is more unique and doesn't play like any other killer in the game even though he's a mash up of other killer abilities as well. Slinger is good but he's not as strong as Oni, and if you're not used to playing fps games with projectile weapons, especially on bhvr's bargain bin servers. You will need more time to get used to playing slinger.

  • The shards cost what 500+ games to farm to get instead of event currency? you should know that that was a bad deal. But paying for it is also setting a bad precedent that shows that you're okay with them doing that, when just about every game nowadays and their mother has some event based unlockables content that comes around maybe once or twice a year.

You choose to support a predatory system that preys on the whale nature and fad culture ; (http://letmegooglethat.com/?q=whales+in+video+games), if you've been online at all or seen the community you know how what bhvr did with the event wasn't in the community's best interest comparatively to the other holiday events, instead of waiting to see the situation out you bought it impulsively. People should really do their research more before buying something or at least practice patience when they see everyone lose their minds over the event situation.

But at the end of the day, its bhvr's right to not refund you because all prices are subject to change and content in them are too.

My sister was bummed out that she couldn't get anything from the event, because she didn't play all the time or has other commitments to farm with that many games, when she looked forward to the events and always plays them. So I really understand why people got really upset when bhvr didn't want to do an event currency with 'the event', when we know they've been able to do them over the last 4 years. It just didn't made any sense for them to do that at this point, when the game is bigger than ever. More people are playing and more people are dropping them a little bit of money here and there buying auric cells, cosmetics and dlc. DbD is a paid game, with paid content that comes all the time that has characters and perks locked onto them. Between Chapter DLC drops and Rifts, a lot of players are basically paying a subscription every month, not to mention all the extra cosmetics that comes with every patch.

So I'm happy for people to get something out of the debacle. So I just wanna say thank you to all those people that collectively voiced their distaste for the bad call to do the event the way that they did. And I hope that bhvr will be more conscious with what they can and can't do in the future. Because we know they're capable of doing great things in between all the slipups, I wouldn't have stuck around for 4-5 years now if they didn't.
