balancing wasn't the only or main reason that vhs tanked, people couldn't even get their foot in the door with all the server and discord hacks, as well as ddos attacks. and anyone who even managed to get in constantly faced regular crashes that was rivaled only by ow2's launch. so people eventually started playing something else and people forgot about it.
but the few people who did got in and did stuck around, it was a pretty hard trial by fire experience which was very frustrating especially for the monster players. who not only had to learn the controls and mechanics of their monsters as well as the maps, but also know exactly what the 4 teens and what they and their weapons all do.
which in turn turned people off from playing monster, which meant there were fewer lobbies for survivors to connect to, which caused queue times to get longer for the player base which was already small thanks to all the server and security issues.
dbd in 2020-2021 actually faced a similar conundrum where the killer experience was pretty awful with the second old ds, dh server validation, a year straight of bad, incomplete and buggy killers, awful map reworks that made them survivor sided, as well as a new map that bsod players systems. the killer population either switched to survivor or moved on to other games. until in 2022 where they started making big sweeping changes and actually communicated to players for once.
i didnt even know the vhs game was released on steam until like 3 months after the release, despite how much the community was talking about it and i only heard about it back because of all the hacking because there werent a lot of content creators covering its release. it probably didnt help that dbd around that time got better some ways.
-
i dont play as much not because i think the game is any less fun than back then, but i play less because there are other games that actually have more positive gameplay loop thats healthier for my mental health.
dbd now on paper is a lot of ways is a bit better, by a good margin. especially when it comes to killer balance/bugs. the 17-19 eras was nutorious for giving us killers like og legion, old spirit, clown, original bubba, unrelenting pig nerfs.
only time i think when dbd was in its worse state compared to its other years was the '20-'21 era of releases, deadhard verification, blight, twins and trickster, all were back to back absolute buggy mess and it introduced rpd which wasnt even playable for like the first few months.. morale was so low during this period.
-
i play both, playing only killer is exhausting. survivor is super chill and pretty relaxing to play, even if i get horrible teammates i can at least just play to survive for myself.

I play with crossplay on. I am already on PC so even with it off it won't really save me😝
I'm really bad at spotting cheaters unless they're obvious, this forum has certainly made me paranoid though. Do we have any stats on how common it is?
i dont know, on killer its very tricky to catch subtle cheaters nowadays. but the cheaters seem to still be pretty obvious about it around their teammates, i've had endgame chats where the survivors were suspicious about what the sussy survivor was doing or how they did things being able to things like self heal or pickup despite them not having healing perks, medkit or boons on the map. like a few times they asked how they pulled off flashlight safe when facing the wrong direction. XD
-
lol where to begin?
as others have pointed out one of the biggest problems other than its size and busted main building, is the quality of the tiles and just how big their collisions are. this turns even the very normal rectangle to square pallet tiles very safe, and any other tile of the variety that adds little objects makes it even safer and easier to loop cause a lot of killer powers dont work around them. in a way, its a lot like old ormond where every rock tile (in this case the tombs and graves)
also the bumps and dimples on the ground can interrupt movement based powers, like demo, pig and victor pounces, you would bump into them as if it was a solid wall.

No she didn't bother. She unhooked and she immediately went to hide (map was Fractured Cowshed).
i can't imagine hiding in cowshed when you cant walk five steps on that map without running into a safe pallet.
-
did the meg even bothered to take aggro from the claudette or had bt for double protection time? sounds like she's being extra dickish by rescuing like that.
-
Like I understand why some people would get annoyed at like blights, nurses and pinhead if they're like a solo player. But dc to legion is really weird to me cause they're like one of the most easiest powers to play against, especially with how problematic maps have gotten as of late.
You all just go on a different corner of the map, if you find another survivor either tell them to go away by pointing or simply leave the area and go spread the gen progress instead. Which is super effective especially with the current set of meta gen regression perks that don't do well against survivors who spread progress around.
-
I love the dredge, it feels like playing him he doesn't get pushed around by the survivors as much without feeling like he's overbearing. especially since he has great synergy with most perks.
as a survivor i dont hav etoo much trouble but i see lots of pubs do
-
what i see, whenever the survivors escape or bully the killer. occasionally the killer says gg sometime. if all the survivors die i dont normally see them say gg.
personally i only say gg if it was a competitive and even match, it just seems pretentious to say that the game was good when one side lost to a dc or a one sided slaughter
-
if the killers connection is bad you can see on the screen, they have a ping indicator for the killer. if you don't see it, its likely just a desync or some packets were lost on the server or both of your ends.
i actually saw something similar happened with pallet interactions earlier and when i played killer the dead hards i encountered were perfectly time for some reason on my screen, they would scream like they got downed but the game says that they're walking around perfectly fine.
-
that would be great because the killers dont even keep the addons to use at later

Basically - you need to earn a resource by doing stuff, then channel that into a randomly spawning 'rift' on the map. If you get downed, you drop some of yours, and if the killer gets stunned, they drop some of theirs.
wait what you can grief and screw over the killler ?
-
how about not bringing 4 green medkits with syringes and styptics, or running an unhookable build with a hook offering instead of an even one.

I've taken care of that for you. For next time, all you need to do is flag the post (as if reporting yourself) and that sends it to the moderators - you can add a comment to the report to explain that you posted in the wrong category.
thank you sm

sorry i put this in the wrong category. how do i move it?
-
oh my gosh the new cenobites would looks so good inside the game's engine.
-
I wouldn't say she needs a whole rework, takes too much time and effort when she could do with simple number tweak buffs. just make her manifest more effective and make condemn something survivors actually have to manage the same way survivors manage pig traps and uroboros infection.
maybe even go so far as remove the lullaby alerting survivors its louder than trickster's lullaby, a more effective manifest would make her stand out from being a discount dredge.

I've enjoyed playing Wesker, because I do not feel like I need to camp or tunnel to apply pressure.
All around, I think he is one of the best designed killers.
He has to apply his passive, rather than activate it mindlessly.
His passive is a moderately-low threat level, so survivors don't feel like they NEED to address it before making sure a gen gets done. HOWEVER, Wesker can punish a survivor who chooses gen over vaccine.
He has mobility, which is always great.
He doesn't shut down every loop.
His larger-than-normal terror radius keeps survivor on their toes--especially on indoor maps.
Sorry you see a lot of campers and tunnelers--perhaps they are struggling with his power and need to compensate. He is really fun, and hopefully more Weskers learn to play him casually
Nah its cool, i don't actually mind getting tunneled, cause it just means i get to interact with the killer for most of the game. its a funny observation, i actually don't encounter that much camping or tunneling personally with the other killers.
-
mathematically it does help, likely a bit part as to why they gave him the extra 8m to his terror radius.
-
"those Survivors" will eventually move on to getting him nerfed once they're done with the nurse and blight, just like they moved on once spirit got hers, and they'll just go down the totem poll from there. probably pinhead and legion next since they're pretty decent at stomping pubs. ideally artist should be looked into first, but since no one plays her she flies under the radar.
-
how many generators did you actually worked on in this match while you let your teammates die?
-
bEcAuSe sHeS PoPuLaR.
but for real though, feng nea and meg hogging all the cosmetics is really bad for everyone else.
because it just creates a toxic cycle, since say survivors like jeff never gets any cosmetics people never have a reason to buy him, which gives bhvr the impression that people dont like him or he's not popular enough, which just repeats the same cycle again.
-
Love it. Totally not biased. But other ranged killers are way better than him, like huntress and slinger aren't map reliant. As they only need one shot to do damage, whilst trickster has a to land a few, needs to manage recoil, and need to track. And maps with till loops destroy him more than the other ranged killers.
But I enjoy the challenge and I adore the visual designs.
-
there has to be another path that doesn't involve doing that annoying as jonah challenge first, killers have a massive hardon for tunneling any survivor who has an escape tome challenge whenever we get one.
-
not that they've nerfed spirit i see we're trying to find the next killer to nerf
-
if shattered hope were basekit i hope they do take the time to buff up the other boon perks, because in its current form mainly just coh that is very problematic for the game.
-
The art department when they read this post after being told by their boss to make their third feng skin this week.
-
The Iris are pretty reliable filler addons.
But Delay reduction are the best sets. as it also ######### dead hard hard and cancels any server delays
Followed by the discipline which removes the survivors ability to be able to read the red stain as it'll be on them. you're practically undetecable in a chase and you can get downs very easily without even trying on loops or areas with tall walls.
extra range is a nice filler but i find the normal range to be perfectly fine.
-
Iron will pretty much killed her for most of the people who used to play her as iron will completely removes any audio while injured.
They also toned down the ability for her to stack add-ons that modify the same things. (still waiting on the blight addon nerfs bhvr)
I personally fine that she plays perfectly fine. She was even my go to for grinding iridescent grade and was my most played killer last season , as I found that she still can consistently 4K no noed or stacking 400 regression perks.
I just slap agi+pain resonance and call it a day.
-
seconded having to "select" for a community challenge is beyond dumb. it should collect passively, it isn't like there isn't already a proven system already in the past that shows they can already do it. splitting the challenges up is very mean spirited because you're essentially "selfish" if you dont have the community one selected at all times.
-
basically me playing my demo, trickster, pig, sadako or dredge,. but when i swap to spirit i freaking streamroll cause the survivors im facing somehow are losing all their braincells. like i swear my nurse matches are way harder. this is super frustrating when i'm trying to play a killer that just came out or play a killer i haven't checked out in a while.
like you know when you're doing bad vs when the survivors you're facing are super competent and have all the best perks.
-
I think we all know about that one spot in the storehouse and on gideon lol
-
Are the gates powered or not?
They're powered on? then No. there is absolutely no reason for the killer to leave a survivor on a hook, unless they wanna catch someone with noed or something.
In the early or middle of the game? meh, they're probably bad or new. business as usual.
Are they a bubba, twins or a hag? well then no, thats where they shine. not being defensive with them would be like playing with a sniper rifle in most shooters and only using the rifle when you're up close against things like shotguns and smg that have better hipfire and movement than you.
Is the person playing a killer with high mobility killer, onryo and you know no one is around? then i guess I'll question why a killer would camp on first hook when their killer whos entire kit is better off used to go harass another survivor off of a gen and then wonder why they get genrushed.
-
Because it rewards people who didn't do anything towards the objective or rescuing. 🤣 A claudette or cheryl could literally sit in a corner all game let her team and get an escape and sbmm will think she outplayed the killer and other survivors. Despite the Yun running the killer for half the game, did all the Rescues and still had time to do a Gen and some hexes. While claudette gets to walk out and given mmr
-
yeah sounds like it goes against the survivor rulebook ..
but honestly, its probably because you have to admit that you as a survivor made a bad call or ######### up massively to have multiple people slugged at once. there only 3-4 killers in the whole roster of 25 something killer that can down more than 2 survivors at once without them being able to recover in time.
for some killers like the twins, its actually impossible not to slug on them as the game is hellbent on punishing them from being able to hook a survivor after getting a successful down, so the game strong arms them into leaving the survivor on the ground a lot of the time.
the only form of slugging that I find irritating is slugging for the 4k, which can often turn a simple 8 minute match into a 20 minute long slog as the killer downs one person and chases another one repeating it 20 times until they both go down and the killer can hook them all. so in games like that you really should just let each other bleedout better to wait 4 minutes than to have to play for an extra 15 minutes where all three of you know that you've lost at that point..
-
just remove collision from BT and make them just phase through killer attack and power. if its an anti tunnel perk no reason the killer should be able to hurt you.
or maybe they could make it so that bt cancels out ds, if the survivor is so hellbent on making the killer tunnel them when the killer is going out of their way not to tunnel and target another survivor.
-
i sent a support ticket like 6 weeks ago as i dont recall ever getting my shards. so id recommend trying that tooo. they normally take 8-16 weeks to respond to a ticket
-
You mean like how we can ignore it by doing gens instead of feeding the camper?

Nah. Read my topic. ''Blight is fine'' and doesn't need to be disabled. Hugging walls is fine, better blaming the only one useful exhaustion perk.
why does your profile picture look like its in jail?
-
I'd say he needs more quality of life changes rather than straight out buffs.
- Zeds moving at a more useful speed and more distance.
- A way to respawn zeds when they're stuck or in a bad spot without walkin all the way to where they're stuck where there are no objectives or survivors for you to bother with.
- Max mutation should give zeds a benefit.
- since they're hell bent on making his tentacle not be as good anymore at least make the zeds more useful.
-
the whatever tf effect iron will has on right now. it makes the other silencing perks pointless to run when you could run iw and have it on constantly when you're injured, also being injured makes you more quite than when you're healthy because apparently you don't need to breath when you're getting gutted.

bhvr not making any changes to artist is a blessing, i wouldn't wanna see another top tier killer getting nerfed to dirt.
right because pinhead really needed those back to back nerfs. but in all seriousness though, its nice that they're leaving her alone for now.

I am not sure if this is connected but an issue I realised is that when you teleport to double lockers, it seems to always prioritise the locker that is locked. Like I will pick a locker with two locks and I cannot choose one individually and it picks the one I know is locked. Something I need to test a little more but I am pretty sure is happening.
yeah that is known, idk what was the reason behind it or if it was intended, but it makes playing against dredge much easier as you can freely lock just one of the double lockers at any time you like,
-
you ideally only wanna lock a locker when you know you're gonna be in the area for long or to finish of a gen. BUTTTT since the teleport has a bullshit autolock and priority system, its perfectly fine to lock every, ONE of the double locker spawn you see. as dredge will always go into the locked locker even if he aims for the unlocled or broken locker.
-
Are we just gonna pretend the og birb killer doesn't exist? I know bhvr has already forgotten about her, but she's cool, she's strong, she can control and detect from afar. and downright unfair on most loops lol. Dredge is still very good, but it could really do without the bumass auto lock/aim teleport. its giving me ptsd to when nurse used to have it.

The map isn't nice with most killers I suspect.
the map for me is literally fine everywhere else on the map, had a clown on it and it played perfectly fine the size is also fair. the only issue with this map is luckily just the main building having too many god windows
-
building wise, its typical bhvr buildings with the god window or two.
rest of the map wise, the tiles are pretty balanced with a mix of tall and shorts, as well as safe and unsafe.
