"I don't understand why all survivors don't just use this combination" --- most survivors don't because it's rather boring and uninteractive.
Spaghetti gens need to go completely (as far as the forever-gen side of that is concerned this is reserved for killers whose power allows them to push survs off gens very efficiently - and along with that the blink-gens that get done before the match even started need to go too) --- but given that you seem to lack quite a number of perks (I assume based on your reference to the shrine) I think you might just not yet have suitable tools available to you. Which is alright; having to put several hundred hours into the game in one role to unlock perks and only then being able to actually play the game is somewhat ridiculous.
I don't really lack perks its just that Doctor, Trickster, Plague, Deathslinger, Wesker, Blight, Pyramid Head, and all other default killers don't have any decent gen pressuring perks which is pretty annoying but I make the most out of it. I have in fact put several hundreds of hours into the game but I spent all my iri shards on cosmetics rather than on the shrine when decent perks were out lmao. I've been waiting two months for something decent...
-
It's worth like $100+ now and you can't even merge it lmao

Maybe not the color of blood, because this game is meant to be realistic to some degree, but definitely different colored scratchmarks and aura colors would be a nice addition.

I couldn't put any pressure on generators since the shrine of secrets is terrible and I didn't have any perk for it and they were all spread out so there wasn't even any point risking
Killer gen-defence perks were all nerfed to the ground. they wouldn't have made much of difference. Helpless as a decent killer is the norm for killer.
I've found Jolt to be reliable most of the time but most survivors catch on and jump into lockers to force a grab. I was thinking of Pentimento so I could pair it with Plaything tbh.
-
It's usually due to ping, killers might see you closer to how you see them - it is the reeason that VPN is used by some killers as it gives them that unfair advantage of weird hits. I'm pretty sure killers like Wesker have extended reach on pallets since he swings sideways but I'm not too sure about it.

Tunnelling isn’t the answer. Just chalk it up to; some you win, some you lose.
surely it’s interesting to see this play style? I doubt it will catch on widely. If it does, I’m sure you will find creative ways to counter.
So I should just play fairly eventhough I am getting gen rushed and have my entire flow disrupted by a hook sabotage..? What would that give me apart from a dance battle by four survivors at the gate and like six hook states that ultimately don't matter? Let's not even mention endgame chat...

It works rarely since most people know that it exists and the hit is only triggered if the survivor is in a certain area at a certain small time window. So if you know when it triggers, you can avoid it, which makes the whole feature useless.
Kind of like the vault animation, literally used my bound to vault a window and a survivor managed to vault that same window before I got to to even finish my animation. I just stared at them in disbelief...

At least the developers listened to our concerns regarding it tbh.

I don't take chances when I face prestige 50+ killers like every game. If they don't swap survivors at the twenty second mark I dodge. If I can check their hours and it matches my MMR I won't. Solo queue is already miserable as it is. I can assure you there's nothing petty about that from experience of them messing up the entire game for me over and over. By the way, I sometimes get matched with survivors that have 126 hours when I have 2,000.

it also enables you to do the hug tech which I recommend you learn
i thought Hug tech required M&K input?
also, Blight is more limited on controller in general, not all the flicks you see PC players pull off can be done on controller, though in my experience, you can still perform rather well as Blight on controller.
also, keep in mind, Hug tech is confirmed to be unintentional and might get patched out at some point in the future (though it does feel unlikely they will revise it..)
Wesker hug techs are somehow possible on controller and Blight hug techs are way easier to do in general. They aren't getting patched - these mechanics have existed for a long time and no one really has a problem with them because it's hard to master - usually you just mindgame yourself doing them.
If you don't learn how to hug tech shack then it's safe to say good survivors can easily take shack to their advantage due to how predictable M1 killers are. If you use the ability inside shack to either force a vault or pallet drop survivors can easily jump into lockers to avoid getting injured.

Pretty sure that unless you file an actual support ticket in conjunction with an in-game report, BHVR doesn't care about in-game reports, so you aren't hurting anyone you accidentally report.
I think an in-game report just makes sure that BHVR knows who you're reporting if the person is using streamer mode once you file a support ticket.

Any gen regression more or less promotes three gen situations for all killers no matter what though, that argument should've been said when they first released it.
Doesn't even matter whether it's a perk or base mechanics or whatsoever.
And you want to make three gens even stronger by buffing the base mechanic of kicking gens...? I think that does matter...

"Because one broken killer" is worst argument ever tbh, I can even believe if someone said BHVR brought that objectively badly designed and broken killer just to nerf regression perk.
This change isn't even necessary because it promotes three gen situations for all killers. Skull Merchant is just the one that would benefit the most. Don't talk to me about a bad argument when your sentence doesn't even make sense lmao. Gen regression perks are overhated now and I still get tons of value from them.

I have the PS4 Nightmare Edition disc and invested roughly like 1,200 hours on it. Lost all of it switching to PC and now the disc is worth $100+. I was going to buy a PS5 again after I moved to the US but the scalpers wanted at least $800 for one so I just built my own PC. It's a real shame.
-
I think you should've kept this to yourself, what type of question even is this lmao?
-
I think that in all my games the maximum breakable walls I had to remove in order to stop a good loop is three. On average I think I break one wall each game since I'm basically forced to if I want to carry on chase. Are they that much of an issue for other killers?

i think that is fine. I am more concern of people lobby dodging because they do not like what their teammate is using as perks which reinforces meta. For example, your teammate might be playing david king adept and you see him using No mither, People might lobby dodge that or they don't agree that your using smash-hit over SB. stuff like that.
That's true, I always lobby dodge if someone has a prestige zero survivor because they obviously have barely any good perks and those play a major role in how the game plays out. If I saw a No Mither survivor I would definitely dodge.
-
There is a counter to it IF there's two survivors. You just need to go on opposite sides and both pretend to unhook until either one of you gets hit. There's such a limited time window for the grab that it usually ends up in a swing. If it's just you then it's always better to wait for another survivor which may be hard in solo queue because it's so easy to get grabbed by yourself. Unhooking is meant to be dangerous and not just result in a trade because it's very easy to just leave the survivor on hook and, when they are just about go second/die, you can just send one healthy survivor off generator duty to take a hit and trade if that change happened.
However, this shouldn't be a problem once the new anti-camping feature releases and killers will have to stay 16m away.
-
Can't even ask simple questions about game mechanics without people assuming your MMR, assuming you're a killer/survivor main, assuming you didn't play the game years ago, assuming you wanted a nerf just to beg for a buff later, etc. I like the dedication you put into this post but, realistically, nothing will change. This isn't a community, just a playerbase at this point.
-
Although that would be nice, you have to remember Skull Merchant is still in the game and that would not help with the three gen situations at all.
-
To be honest I wouldn't want that. I don't want people to change their perks just to match the others because I have seen plenty healing builds not even be utilized by survivors, plenty of looping builds just for the survivors to get knocked down within thirty seconds, plenty of gen rushing builds just for them to run around doing absolutely nothing, etc. If they have Unbreakable you can clearly tell by how fast their progress is when slugged and deliverance is just something you tell people before the game starts in the chat.
-
I made a discussion about her on RPD, she is literally a killer that makes you regret even going on to Dead by Daylight. You simply cannot balance her ability. A rework is the best thing for her.
-
I went up against a big streamer and managed a fair 4K. I went onto his stream to say gg and this guy fully says 'Oh hello streamsniper' and his chat erupted with everyone calling me names and asking why I did it. Wonder how that happened? There was two gens left and the streamer + a random were healing each other right next to a generator. I got called all these names because I was patrolling gens. I had to explain to him how he was literally healing right next to a generator and how I only looked at his stream once to see how toxic he might be before the game began. I still have no idea how he convinced his viewers I was streamsniping, just shows how much influence these streamers have.

the servers really, really need to get looked at, and they’ve progressively have gotten worse since the recent mid-chapter.
i’ve seen some streamers, and from my personal experience, get placed in servers that were barely stable and still do, and sometimes the game servers disconnect in the middle of a game.
i live in the middle of the US and i legit get placed in non-US servers more than i am on my own servers and i do not use a VPN.
averaging 87-100 ping solo queue’ing but i’ve noticed i have normal ping when i SWF with people relatively close to me
and if i had tbh, killers get carried by bad ping, so many hits that shouldn’t even register but they do. i’ve also hit some pretty jank m1’s.
i’d honestly choose better netcode among other bugs right now. playing on unstable servers or getting placed in random servers outside the US just isn’t fun.
kinda silly when it comes down to having to deal with it or VPNing your own servers for better ping, etc.
I had that problem on Steam as well but I changed my Server Browser Pings / Minute to a lower value and I manage a consistent 60 ping usually whilst others struggle on 100+. It's really weird I need to change my Steam settings because the game doesn't know what it's doing.
-
well said lmao.
-
Just the cycle of revenge unfortunately. Who knows what they had to endure last game...
-
That takes up an entire perk slot and only really works for stealthy/low terror radius killers. Even if you do manage to catch a survivor off-guard, they can easily walk to be able to use it in chase and escape a dead zone.

If you think that SB is less counterable than DH, you must not be in a super high elo. People would just not fall for the bait, its not that hard to tell the difference between a bait and a swing. Smart survivors would just hold the dh and run around pallets knowing theres nothing you can do.
SB just provides a safety net and possible crazy chase value when done well. if you get caught off guard on a gen, SB to a loop. Cant get tunneled off hook bc SB gets you away, that kind if thing. It only adds 7 seconds of chasetime directly, 12 if a 110% killer. All it does it guarantee you reach a loop after a use. Outside of the first activation, you need walk in chase, purposefully losing distance for 40s worth of time just to proc it again.
Again with the assuming, I didn't ask the question to have my mmr analysed. Don't say 'MUST' because it's not truthful. I could bait dead hard out of any survivor, it's really not crazy hard if you understand how to do it properly. You aren't meant to swing at the sight of them and instead get up close and personal and then you bait. Running around pallets with dead hard can be countered: don't be desperate. Also Quentin has a perk to reduce that exhaustion to 28 seonds if I remember correctly.

DS just needs it's stun timer increased, or it needs to be usable whenever you are being carried, as 2 seconds in a dead zone is completely useless. It doesn't need to go back to how stupid it was originally, but right now it's too situational to be useful most of the time.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3443571#Comment_3443571
The vast majority of Killers are not playing against SWF squads who are running BNPs and destroying the gens, yet they tunnel anyway. Face it, it's easier to target one person and send them back to the queue than it is to play "fairly".
BHVR are going to nerf toolboxes, there's no way they won't after they nerfed medkits. But it doesn't matter how much you nerf Survivors, tunneling won't go away until the game system makes it unprofitable. If you tunnel someone out and if there's 3-4 gens left the match is practically impossible to lose at that point. There's no incentive to not tunnel.
btw I'm in favour of BHVR nerfing toolboxes. I never bring items to a match unless I have a challenge to do, so they could delete BNPs and I could care less. But people have to stop pretending that any time Killers take the easiest strategy to winning a match, they're only doing it because Survivors make it impossible for them to compete otherwise.
I have in fact faced it. When I play fairly and camp during endgame to secure at least one kill after getting genrushed I just get bodyblocked by survivors and get forced to enjoy a lightshow and dance battle about who can teabag the fastest at gate. The endgame chat is another story. It's miserable. There has been no mention about toolbox nerfs let alone a BNP nerf so you can't just ask for anti-tunneling perks without compensating for it.

Hiding survivors are such a problem on any map really. You just want the game to be over but nope.

Constantly assuming. I go against big streamers. How do you want me to prove it lmao? If you have nothing intelligent to say get out of here.
-
I think the thing everyone has to realize is that tunneling is basically genrushing. Both are to do with objectives and both make the game miserable for either side. Sometimes you can play perfectly as killer and you'll still be down two gens before you get a single hook. If you asked killers why they tunnel they usually won't say they want to make the game miserable but that it's the only way to actually get gen pressure. Imagine being in that situation and you walk by another gen that has higher than 50% progress. It feels essential to tunnel and camp if you want at least one kill instead of nothing and watching the survivors give a light display at the gate for you because you played fairly. Tunneling needs to be addressed but so does genrushing.

You mentioned what is probably the strongest part about the perk as if its nothing.
"Where it is strong is when survivors use it to hang around a dead zone, then during those 3 seconds, they run to a safer area. Which doesn't really add a huge amount to the chase, all it does is make the chase more standard rather than free as it would be in a dead zone."
A chase in a deadzone is a death sentence against a good chunk of killers. Sprint Burst turns a death sentence into an actual chase and depending on the map that can be much more than DH.
Another thing is regardless of where its used, SB almost always guarantees you value. The only time DH ever guaranteed value, was before the rework.
Yeah that's actually true. As Wesker I could easily throw them into a wall and, since they are in a deadzone, it's a free down. Or Micheal can't stalk for as long as he could've since they go behind cover on a loop from a deadzone. Or Huntress can't guarantee a hatchet hit when it would be possible to get a hit and possibly a knock in a deadzone. Or Hag can't get a hit after teleporting to a trap because the survivor just runs away. Or Trickster can't utilize his knives to secure a hit and possibly a down. Or Deathslinger can't use his ability to reel them in a corner and possibly get a down. Or Plague can't throw up on you and possibly get a down. There's too many examples.

And hearin lies the problem. Basically nurse and blight didn't care anyway. These 2 killers should basically be ignored when looking at balance concerns affecting killers as a whole because they don't play by the same rules as everyone else.
Well you could argue that the following killers weren't affected substantially as well: Huntress (can easily hold a hatchet out in the open until the survivor gets scared), Nemesis (could hold his tentacle for as long as he wants to), Wraith (could use his bell to bait swinging), Doctor (shock therapy prevents dead hard use), Deathslinger (his ability prevents dead hard use), Legion (can put you in deep wound to prevent dead hard use), and Twins (you can easily bait it with Victor).

Idk I have never before seen a killer say they prefer old Dead Hard to Sprint Burst. Maybe if you mostly play Blight or Nurse I can see Sprint Burst as the more frustrating perk. But even then…
I play Wesker now since the dead hard nerf, used to play Blight. If they didn't have sprint burst, I would have an easy viruelent bound hit especially if they are in a deadzone. It is frustrating.

@Reinami said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3443468#Comment_3443468
Dead hard was not easy to bait. It created stupid scenarios where you are close enough to hit the survivor, and you both do this stupid dance where the big hulking mean killer is afraid to swing. It also made it almost impossible to lunge, because you could e on reaction to the lunge. Meaning the distance to hit became 2 meters instead of 6 meters, which gaining 0.6 meters of distance, would extend every single chase by 2.4 seconds at minimum, but then you had to delay a second or 2 to do this stupid dance. Which means that it would delay chases nearly as much as sprint burst is doing just by existing.
Because of this extra free distance and lunging being impossible, it allowed survivors to get to pallets and windows much easier, because you couldn't lunge so they had more chances to use it. Basically NOT using it, was nearly as powerful as using it.
Thanks for all the information, it's genuinely interesting. I mained Blight at the time so I just needed to rush past them to bait it for a free down on the next rush. This is exactly why I wanted other people's experiences because it helps me understand what was wrong with it instead of just assuming people couldn't bait it properly like I could. Having numbers display the differences between thee two perks is really informative. People assuming I never played during that time or that I begged for it to be nerfed just to want it back really aren't helping. Thank you. :)
