You can't do it regularly, but it is possible and funny to do.
So Clown is also not fine and should be changed, because you can't loop him?
You can loop Clown by taking advantage of his long reloads. Clown should get quality of life changes however as he isn't the most liked killer to say the least and yet he isn't too powerful at the same time.

10% doesn't allow looping, but clown's 15% does? It doesn't stop your vaults, so you can just camp pallet and outcome is exactly same.
Hack the drone mid-chase?
Not sure about console, but I can get it easily under 2 seconds, so it's not impossible on save loops. It's definetly funny to do.
Never said Clown's 15% didn't. It definitely does. If you can hack drones mid-chase, without getting hit, then I don't know what the Skull Merchants you go against are doing.

you should not give her a free hit, loop even with the claw trap, if you can, hack the drone mid chase
Hack the drone mid-chase? Oh my. If that doesn't give the most free hit ever then I don't know what does. You also seem to forget 10% hindered doesn't really allow looping with a claw trap on.

Matchmaking on DBD is just bad like that. You died = you're bad. I think it's time to play more selfishly though because I know how it feels to have teammates like that and, unfortunately, it kind of is the only way to get your MMR up. Still help where you can, but don't feel obligated to do everything for them, it only ruins your experience at the end of the day.
In higher MMR you often hear the term 'altruism kills' floating around and that is pretty much true. You'll find they aren't as altruistic but there will always be one survivor that will still save you off hook and heal you. That's pretty much all the altruism you need. Perhaps some body blocks would help but those usually do more harm than good.
I tend to see a win as just looping a killer for a long time. That way if I get tunneled then it's whatever and I'll just go next happy. If you could try to find enjoyment in that, your MMR will technically go up more compared to just being altruistic.

maybe the last Mikaela skin they released too
Not a Strangers things fan though lmao sorry
I would happily buy more Carlos skins if they ever do something about him
Probably have to wait until the anniversary then... Hopefully they don't mess up the end of year sale like they did with Black Friday. I've seen better discounts on some random holidays I forgot about.

Only to see that the DLCs I were missing (Like End Transmission) were only 30%, and none of the characters I play have any cosmetics on sale...
I've saved 105,000 iri shards for outfits and 1k auric for a paid outfit on sale and basically nothing went on sale :(
Make that a x3 for disappointed players over here
Halloween sales were better than Black Friday sales. Like what is BHVR doing? The fact they said that the outfits on sale are very popular when they really aren't is just annoying and extra salt in the wound. Discount the iri shard prices for them since there's so few even on sale. What a waste of time.

no, that punishes killer for doing his objection. Like, if someone intentionally bites killer by constantly flashlighting, spamming loud actions, bodyblocking etc...? Killer hooks him-other survivors the bonuses and toxic person is the winning one. Amazing. You should reward killer for not tunneling, but punishing just means survivors will abuse it hard.
Let them waste their time doing that instead of generators? The system would only punish killers tunneling at five gens, not tunneling in general.

The benefit of anon mode greatly outweight the "Cons".
Anon mode lets you avoid being directly DM'd nasty stuff because you're playing X killer, it also prevents people from spamming your steam profile with hundreds of pages of "-rep (Nasty comment here)" type of comments.
Anons are still reportable ingame, and if the Endgame chat bothers you that much you can close the chat window, or alternatively just ... go next...
Just turn your Steam profile comments off. It's really not a big deal and no one cares about what people are commenting.

How would requiring an extra token make it worse? It only delays Skull Merchant drones from injuring you.
What is point of this question when you are acknowledging it is a nerf.
Nerf = Worse
When at any point have I asked for buffs without any other change?
I am just saying she is not in state where she should get straight nerfs. She is not strong enough for that.
See now that makes more sense. I agree that a nerf would require compensation but, as of right now, I don't really know in what aspect she feels weak.

Yes, but don't you get my point? They nerfed this perk PRE-Launch. They took 6 MONTHS to nerf MFT. Get it? And the kicker is, no-one asked for Batteries Included nerf. Why? Behaviour will never respond to that.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3591551#Comment_3591551
Same goes for not nerfing kick gen meta for months on end. This is why I lost all hope in this games balance.
It's true that balancing is chaotic. There's no denying it. But you can't just say they favor survivors when they also had to face that gen regression era or the eruption spamming which didn't get changed for a while. The balancing is tragic for both sides but this situation might show that BHVR are starting to understand how to balance properly and efficiently. Just because they began with a killer's perk, it doesn't mean it's unfair. Maybe they finally are prioritizing balance now, although that would be hard to imagine. I don't know though. Perk would've got nerfed anyway after a couple of days due to the NOED synergy.

Have you never been unhooked in the endgame, get hit off hook by the killer, and immediately run your way over to an exit gate and escape? Ever? Because that's happened to me a good number of times, on both sides of the game.
Yes but that's besides the point because killers know to wait out basekit BT and body block as much as possible. If you're hitting an unhooked survivors basekit BT, they deserve the escape at that point. Patience is key, especially if you're that frightened of a useless perk.

I denied wanting her deleted at the start?
Am I calling for her to be deleted? Not at all.
Really?
How would requiring an extra token make it worse?
What? Part of your power takes longer to active is supposed to be a buff or something?
Yeah that is just entirely your own interpretation of that which made you think I contradicted myself. I meant I want her deleted, but I'm not advocating for it. Just an opinion statement that shouldn't influence others. I don't know what you're seeing here but I'm not asking others to want her deleted. Should be fairly obvious.
It's meant to be a nerf as it allows survivors to endure an extra scan before they get injured/deep wounded. Literally the most straightforward thing.
-
You seem to forget that MfT is getting a massive nerf. It will only activates when in deep wound which is difficult to achieve during endgame, sometimes even impossible unless you play around with perks. MfT isn't even going to be run that often.
Batteries Included and NOED provided killers with exposed and stackable haste which can very obviously turn the tide of the entire game.
-
MfT isn't even going to be run that often. It's been obliterated into the ground. No point panicking about something no one will run. To end up with a deep wound during endgame against a majority of the killers is impossible and, therefore, it isn't a free stack.
Batteries Included and NOED provide killers with exposed and haste which can turn the tide of the entire game. I don't know why you didn't provide the haste effects of those two combined because it'll really show how effective those two were together.

So the killer should just watch them bleed for 4 minutes? each? thats 16 minutes wasted of the killers time to counter this?
Some Survivors are already complaining about slugging, and this will just make it worse
Also swfs are already abusing Eyrie of Crows with "boil over" + "Boon: Exponential". There is a specfic place where the survivor runs at the top of the tower, where the boon will cover them and because of boil over killers cant get them to a hook. by the time the killer runs up there and down them, the Boon: Exponential is getting lit by someone else if the killer snuffed it. (this will take forever).
Dude go over to the discussion and realize how it works. I tagged the the person just for people like you thinking it is abusable.

@[Deleted User] said:

No... it would be abused.
the survivor that had just been hooked would just fix gens in the face of the killer or bodyblock. Or the rest of the survivors would hide so the only option was to hook the same guy again.
And the survivor would get an even more OP buff on gen speeds.
Okay and then you'd slug them for being silly? This involves only hook states. You simply cannot abuse a system like that.

It's starting to happen so much that I'm running ds, off the record, adrenaline and reassurance for any team members of mine being tunneled and the rest for me in case I get tunneled
Such a shame DS got nerfed the way it did. Also, I wouldn't bring Off the Record as killers now tend to hit you immediately off hook to render the perk useless after proximity camping the area. Sometimes I think they do it for fun to give the survivor a little headstart so it won't be too easy to get them again. The only value I have gotten out of it is at basement when the killer would body block until basekit BT runs out. They really need to make the basement entrance wider.
-
The best, and fairest, option would be to do what @ChrissyG88 proposed. The two-part system of disincentivizing tunneling by giving other survivors bonuses would mitigate the issue substantially and the additional incentive for anti-tunneling (slightly slower repair time) would make tunneling at five generators just silly.
I understand tunneling has to be done in order to win some games but tunneling at five gens is just tedious and exhausting to face and even witness in solo queue.

Having played a bit more of Skull Merchant since my last post, I feel pretty confident that there's not much of a problem here. A skilled player is going to make her look nasty, of course, but there's sufficient counterplay that I've been able to deduce from my own games.
There are two main ways you have to deal with drones; when the SM places them ahead of time, and when the SM places them mid-loop.
For the first, the counterplay is twofold; keep an eye out for them and avoid them if you can, and much more pressingly, go out of your way to disable them between chases. This is all fine and above board, this thread wasn't about this even, just wanted to be thorough.
For the second, my suspicions were correct, but there's sort of a secondary element as well. You do just run in the opposite direction and waste as much time as possible, she can only place so many so you'll get to a loop you can play at some point. Is this boring? Kinda, but she's not the only killer with this issue. The secondary element is that, because you actually have to be moving for a drone to scan you, there are a lot of loops where you can just... stand still and force the SM to commit to actually walking around to get you, at which point you drop the pallet and run away. Wasting time until she moves, and only getting scanned once (if that) when you do finally move.
There's also the fact that being hit with the Hindered isn't an automatic death sentence within a loop. Clown's a good comparison here again; the reason predropping is so effective against him is that even the 15% Hindered he gets isn't enough to stop you from just vaulting the same pallet over and over until he commits to breaking it. Trust me, I say from experience that this absolutely works against Skull Merchant too.
I tried to vary between placing drones mid-loop and placing them ahead of time, and while I won't deny there are some loops (like TL walls) that benefit greatly from the first strategy, I found that I had to use a mix of both that favoured setting them ahead of time in order to get any real work done. Skull Merchant may not be everyone's cup of tea but I don't personally think there are super glaring issues with her kit in terms of counterplay right now.
Thanks for coming back to the discussion and providing good advice. I'll give it a try later today. I'm currently arguing with people about how killers are not balanced around the top 1% of survivors and instead balanced around solo queue which I thought was common sense but oh well.
-
This perk does nothing against SWF and yet so much against solo queue. It really needs a rework.

He was overtuned af mate, Main Event is essentially an ultimate, him being able to spam it constantly like he did was just a massive NO.
Also, take in mind he kept most of his other buffs, specially the movement speed and removal of recoil, both pretty heavy buffs, which were also his biggest issues on Live.
He went from a 4.4 m/s killer to a 4.6 m/s killer and I think people forget how huge of a change that is in itself. Also, the recoil changes allow controller players to actually play him so his usage rates will definitely increase upon release.

tournaments wouldn't exist
tournaments exist because they limit perks/items/addons and sometimes killers on both sides. It's rare to see norule tournament and even there they manage to be around 60%, which sounds like it is balanced around them...
if it was around soloQ, then killers would get absolutely destroyed against tournament squads. Well, many killers do... but that's usually issue with whole power of that killer, not really balancing.
Survivors face the most restrictions and yet they still get a 3 person escape usually, two if the killer gets lucky. Killers do get destroyed by tournament squads, but the restrictions help alleviate that.

BVHR has never revealed kill-rate of skull merchant. I don't get where you get any of stats because there are no official stats for skull merchant. the only official stats were last september 2022 when Wesker was released.
The game is balanced around 4v1, yeah. My solo queue games are fine against other killers, yet not with her. Even the better players struggle against her.
My soloq teammates struggle vs blight. Does that mean that blight deserves nerf? no, because in tournaments, blight performs perfectly fine. It is same for skull merchant.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3589809#Comment_3589809
It just means that something that is balanced for top 1% is also balanced for top 90%, top 70%, top 50% because the player with lower level are worse players playing vs worse players that are not playing to the highest potencial.
My solo queue doesn't. I play in higher MMR so there's that. No killer is balanced in the top 1% of players. Watch a tournament game and you'll usually see three escapes. Two if the killer is lucky and that's including all the survivor perk restrictions. The only killers that can compete really are Blight and Nurse and those are in debate of a nerf because the game IS balanced around solo queue.

Yeah, I mainly talk about SWF, because that's what you should balance around in my opinion.
If SWF can do it, then you should ask how to improve soloQ in away that it can also win more reliably.
Solution is not to nerf any killer you don't like to face as soloQ.
requiring an extra token
That doesn't fix any of your chase issues, It also doesn't make it more fun in any way. It just makes her power worse.
How is that good change exactly?
But sure, we can make it require 1 more token, but display number of tokens each survivor has so Skull merchant can play around it.
You haven't asked for any.
I have asked so many questions to be ignored. You even denied to want her deleted at start...
I denied wanting her deleted at the start? Genuinely what are you even talking about at this point. Just putting words in my mouth to make your arguments look somewhat better. Let me make this crystal clear. I want her deleted, however, I know that won't happen so I'm fine with some changes to alleviate the boredom of facing her. Never advocated for it or made it the main focus. You did. You made it the focus.
I'm not asking for a huge nerf, another assumption made by you. Might be a professional at this point. I'm looking for a rework or small alteration for the health of the game.
How would requiring an extra token make it worse? It only delays Skull Merchant drones from injuring you. What is your logic here because I think you're just rambling at this point.

So what? You think this change anything?
Boring is not a major issue that should lead to nerfs. It can lead to rework, but not really straight nerfs.
- It's not hard to win against her
- She can't lock you in game for 1 hour
Most if it is still after effect from her previous version anyway.
It's simple, do you have any solution how to make her fun for you while still keep her viable?
I haven't seen any suggestion how to change her except you wish to delete her...
You haven't asked for any. Funnily enough I mentioned a change with the lock on meter requiring an extra token but that went over your head. It is hard to win against her, unless you have a SWF then that's another story.

Every killer is balanced around solo queue. If they were balanced around the top 1% SWF, no one would play the game.
killer should be balanced around top 1%. if the top 1% can escape skull merchant than you can escape skull merchant because if your a lower % player, you will not face top % skull merchant player. for example, if your 90% player, you will face 90% skull merchant players which makes mistakes. this is refer to as trickle down balance.
Also. congrats on assuming my skill and playstyle, was waiting for it. I do leave loops because I know how to waste time with her, my solo queue team doesn't. It's not my only argument, it's just the only part of the discussion you read.
The game is balanced around 4vs1. if your team is no good and plays poorly, it is not killer fault. The killer is just capitalize off weak-links. you only deserve escape if your teammate also play well.
If they were balanced around top 1%, tournaments wouldn't exist. Killers would win each, and every, time. They are balanced around solo queue as the killer needs a optimal 60% kill-rate which solo queue provides. This is common sense, clearly not here.

suddely it's just W key away... I thought that's your whole issue
Does undetectable not work on certain maps?
No, it doesn't work well on open maps. So what I don't have TR when they can see me... effectivness changes a lot based on specific map
Every killer is balanced around solo queue.
and when did you get that idea? What changes made you think this game is balanced around soloQ? Sadako rework seems soloQ friendly to you?
That's not possible with Skull Merchant because there is no skill involved.
Her chase is not really that strong anymore, she would not get even into top 5 for 1v1 killers.
I have played mainly chase merchant before her nerfs, you know why it was way better? Totems. Blood warden, or devour hope gave survivors no chance. Well guess what, she can't defend totems at all now. That was nerfed into the ground -> another thing that got way worse.
It's not really hard to get long chase against her. She is still just M1 killer, her hindred takes forever to get, unless you tagged survivor multiple times before you commit to the chase.
She can't bypass pallets, she can't get over windows. All those resources work against her.
you told me those two counterplays? Those were alreaady mentioned in my discussion. You didn't read it at all, only what you liked.
Really? You ask the question -> I answer. Then you complain it's something you knew? It's not my fault you don't like the answer :D

congrats on assuming my skill and playstyle, was waiting for it
When exactly did I say that?
30 seconds is generic, you shouldn't get down faster than that against most killers. That works for everyone.
You don't like to leave loop? Well, you said it multiple times. Not really assuming...
I'll just leave this here. If she's so perfect as you make her out to be, explain this. Most unfun killer to face, the second worst being Knight at 54% always boring.

Her drones can injure you, if you let them. It's nothing she can really force. It give you speed boost, unlike Plague.
It's way worse than exposed she used to have. You could not afford to stay there, not even on different floor. You simply had to leave, otherwise you are dead. It's not the case with current drone, you can play around it.
So it is still worse than used to be...
As I said only thing that improved is her stealth, which is map dependant thing.
Most of the playerbase are solo queue. You cannot expect them to do much, let alone that.
So what? No killer should be balanced around soloQ. You think Skull merchant is bad for soloQ? Pinhead might want to talk about that. That topic would be how to improve soloQ, not nerf the killer you don't like...
I'm not. I really don't know what you're getting at.
You can't disarm them during chase, aka what this discussion is about.
You keep talking while your post is about chase and how it is not fun for you. Well, dbd is not 1v1. It's not just chase. It also doesn't have to be enjoyable for you.
Fact is she is not able to down you under 30 seconds like some other killers with better 1v1, unless you screwed it. You just don't like to leave the loop. That's your only argument, which is not really valid when I can say exactly same thing about many other killers.
You just don't like skull merchant. That's it.
Plague and Skull Merchant are completely different. Let's not go down that alley. With the exposed she did have, you would just W key away unless you were injured because it wouldn't affect you. Now it doesn't matter whether you're injured or not, the drones will have an effect on you.
Does undetectable not work on certain maps? You might want to report that in the bug section.
Every killer is balanced around solo queue. If they were balanced around the top 1% SWF, no one would play the game. That's just the truth. Pinhead isn't that crazy to face on solo queue, yes it is boring but I like facing him. I think everyone most would agree that Pinhead is a better killer to face than Skull Merchant.
The main element of DBD is the chasing. It puts you in a 1v1 scenario vs the killer and its where skill and mindgames come into play. That's not possible with Skull Merchant because there is no skill involved. It makes the most fun part of DBD boring, unless doing generators excites you more. The game also doesn't have to be enjoyable for you so don't come at me with such a remark.
Also. congrats on assuming my skill and playstyle, was waiting for it. I do leave loops because I know how to waste time with her, my solo queue team doesn't. Because Clown doesn't have that many potions and the broken potions dissapear after a couple of seconds unlike Skull Merchant's ability where the drones stay there until diabled/recalled. They also cover a way smaller range that doesn't engulf entire loops and cannot injure survivors/put them in deep wound.

To be honest the counterplay for being tunneled is getting better at the game, get good at looping. I have gotten into 5 gen chases because the killer wants to tunnel me so hard that we end up winning with the killer getting nothing in the end. But it seems like ''get better at the game'' is an impossible task for some people especially for this community.
Someone send bro a pubstomper Blight game immediately 💀

Are you trying to balance her for 1v1? That simply doesn't make any sense.
Those lasers can't go through walls, so predropped pallet often shuts down whole loop (except some open loops on autohaven etc) and you can easily stand in check spot.
You can't disarm them, you team can when they are not in chase. She needs to use her drones on whole map, not just on chase. You seem to forgot this is team game. Killers are balanced around that, not just 1v1.
If you want to talk about just 1v1 and ignore anything else, how the hell you want to even compare her with Knight, or Deathslinger? She is way worse, it's not even close.
Just how is she a problem, when there are other killers who habe aspects you hate and they are even better at it?
I'm not. I really don't know what you're getting at. Loops on DBD do not involve much high walls in certain maps and those are usually the ones that Skull Merchants give as offerings.
Most of the playerbase are solo queue. You cannot expect them to do much, let alone that.
Sure she needs drones elsewhere, that's why they place drones beforehand and leave two spare for chases. Believe it or not, taking chase is like a 1v1 for a brief moment. That's why Skull Merchants don't place drones in the randomest locations. They need you on the hook fast so they can deal with the other three.

Her chase is not better. You didn't list any changes why it should be the case.
So what changes about her chase:
- she has less movement speed overall -> easier to trigger 1 stack in chase, but harder to get on 2/3 stacks -> 4 stacks near impossible
- pallet breaking is gone, that was basically her main chase ending thing
- exposed status effect is gone, got replace with broken status effect, which gives movement speed -> worse
- there is hindered, which requires total of 4 scans, when there is immunity for 3 second after each scan -> it's quite rare to happen and is equivalent of bloodlust 3 -> end chase, but not worth the time
Her drones can injure AND hinder survivors for a easy follow-up hit that you can predict very easily by the beam's placement and the HUD (for tracker progress), she gets undetectable which allows stealthy maneuvers out of seemingly no where, the undetectable helps with mind-games, etc. I'm too tired right now to provide an entire list but these are ones you cannot even deny are buffs.

why would she bother wasting time and breaking the pallet if she can go around?
Oh right, because every pallet in dbd is unsafe. Clown can do it in exactly same way, except he can catch up faster, his speed boost is not tied to survivor's actions.
let me waste a perk slot on Nea's crouching perk
I have never said you need it.
Her ability doesn't dissapear like Clown's bottles.
She doesn't have infinite of them, so she will most likely recall if she wants to use them in chase. You can also disarm them.
Her ability makes them unsafe. The drones cover almost the entire loop, safe or not. I'm not going to risk getting injured by the drone because the pallet WAS safe.
The video did. If you don't have the perk, the crouching would never work. You'd lose a ton of distance.
You can't disarm them during chase, aka what this discussion is about. She has enough to last the chase. If she needs to recall some, she can.
