  • You can if it's like you said where they show the killer where others are. It's fun to goof around with the killer from time to time but that is too far. You'll need to record it however as it is hard to prove people are doing stuff like that. If it works it works, if it doesn't then no harm done.

Not really, I just find it funny you say something is an issue and your fix doesn't do anything about the issue.

Well the only way to fix it is another rework, right? Or do you have any alternative that wouldn't make SM mains cry?

  • @VomitMommy said:

Since when 33% is insignificant nerf?

Funny is it wouldn't change your issue at all.

And there we go. You talked about how one token wouldn't do much and now it's an issue. I can't change the issue if people cry about small nerfs like that.

There's no fun involved, it's just the cycle of boredom that gets repetetive.

Well, you think your fix of adding 1 token would fix this? It would be exactly same for survivors, just worse for Skull merchant.

Chase wouldn't change. Playstyle wouldn't change.

It would allow survivors extra time to not get injured by a drone without Skull Merchants crying about such a insignificant nerf.

I’m gonna try but honestly I’m just disinterested in everything to do with gaming and my hobbies. I used to find them fun but for a while now I’ve just found myself lacking any motivation to move on

To be honest I'd probably take advantage of that. Try playing single player games like The Last of Us and take a break from DBD. It's such a toxic environment with so much issues yet to be addressed. I don't know why I play it. Really, I don't.

I can’t make a SWF as I have no friends due to my social isolation 💀

and playing killer always makes me worry because I feel like killing someone could end up ruining their day

I was lucky enough to find a friend whilst playing and I never usually accept people's friend requests, I made the exception for them. We don't even talk, we just message, but it makes the experience so much better.

Don't think so much about others feelings. They have probably died countless times and, as long as you played fairly, they won't really mind. It sucks to die, sure, but that's a killers role after all. They will respect you for playing fairly and, on the odd occassion. you'll get someone crying about it. That's just how multiplayer games are.

  • Get a SWF and then you won't have to rely on poor matchmaking providing noobs as teammates no matter the hours you have. For the killer side I just suggest not taking it as seriously. Really bad advice, I know, but it's all I got. 😔

Not even joking, the match I just got out of was like this.

Me and my friend - both 3k+ hours. Both 100% achievements, challenges, all perks / characters everything unlocked. Meg was giving up first hook, postgame shows she had no perks and I kid you not 2 HOURS PLAYTIME!

The huntress was a streamer with 4k hours P100 huntress, and has a P100 nea in his screenshots.

What even is this? That meg would still literally be getting the noob loading screens. This is why they dont show us our MMR numbers, because I would love to see them explain how my MMR is that low that I am being put with people who have less playtime total that my current session of 4 hours.

This isnt rare, its every few matches.

That's why if you SWF you need at least a 3 man. The matchmaking is just tragic. I play solo queue so I know the pain, it feels like you have to lobby dodge sometimes.

  • You forgot to add about how the killers have like 9,000+ hours as well lmao

With Trapper, you can just fake the trap to force survivors into staying. First time you set the trap, you fake it. If they run away, you chase them. If they stay, you set the trap and they are stuck in a tile with a trap.

Nope. There's no counterplay in a loop against a good Artist. If you think there is, you just haven't played against a good one. Otz mained Artist for one of his 50 win streaks and said that Artist was a guaranteed down unless survivors could chain loops. There's a reason why she is considered to be one of the best killers.

As for Skull Merchant, you can chain loops against her, even if you are Hindered. Here is an example. I think what you're missing is that you need to drop a pallet fast against a Skull Merchant. It's very similar to playing against a Clown. Otz has been playing Skull Merchant for the past month attempting win streaks on her. I've been watching his streams and many survivors have taken him on long chases. She's definitely not a killer with 0 counter play.

Even after maining her for a month, Otz only thinks she is B tier. She can injure survivors fast but her chase is similar to Clown.

There are a few reasons why Skull Merchant has a high kill rate:

Trapper's fakes aren't as effective with good pathing. It is very easy to chain loops with Windows of Opportunity, hence why I run it. His fakes still make him stop moving for that brief second which allows you to act accordingly and determine the course of action. Let's say he did fool you. You just have to go around the loop until he gets a hit, you still buy your team a bit of time. It was just an effective mindgame from the Trapper, that also takes skill against high MMR players which won't fall for desperate attempts. You should never feel forced to stay at a loop unless you are in a dead zone or you have bad pathing, although they can go hand in hand.

Artist would be S tier if that was the case. If her chase power was so opressive, people would just run gen regression perks because that's all she needs. That doesn't seem to be the case. Even Otz didn't put her in that S tier. She also has a high skill ceiling so it's undeniably hard to master her truly and not just land lucky hits.

The example you gave me only had one good, and experienced, survivor playing against him. The Gabriel was really good and read Otz like a book whilst the Yui was only good in the first part. You do not get teammates like Gabriel in solo queue. Also, Otz should've landed those hits at the vaults so that was really detrimental for him and made the looping seem good. Yui only got chased for a while by pre-dropping safe pallets Otz was forced to break as well. Even for the more unsafe loops Otz didn't try mindgaming which was questionable. The Mikaela is a better representation of a solo queue player. That Gabriel was a survivor you see once in a blue moon in one of your games.

What seems to go over the heads of some people is that all Skull Merchant games go exactly as I described in the discussion. There's no fun involved, it's just the cycle of boredom that gets repetetive. Every Skull Merchant game is like I'm facing the exact same one I faced before. At least with Wesker that's not the case and I enoy facing him. That's also the reason people DC. They can tell how the game is going to go. It also doesn't help when most Skull Merchants play toxicly.

  • If they just reverted it back to five seconds it would mitigate so much tunneling.

People dont like the killer = DC

People dont like the map = DC

People getting downed as the first one = DC

People failing in mindgames = DC

We also had a guy sabotaging our team today, luring the killer to another player and then he DCed.

At least they were kind enough to leave a bot I guess... 🤣

We can both agree her three gen capability is bad now so that isn't even a playstyle to consider.

    Oh right, just not viable.

More players don't do it because it's boring.

Quite a lot of players played Chess merchant, because it was easier to do than Chase. So boring is clearly not an issue.

Chess Merchant only happened because they enjoyed irritating survivors. That made it fun for them. Every single endgame chat they would stay and let the insults unfold. That was their source of entertainment. Even the actual Chess Merchant was really toxic.

  • @Iron_Cutlass said:

Making Bots smarter isnt really going to fix much, I rarely see people DC in my matches, instead most Survivors just give up on hook since they do not receive a DC penalty for doing that.

I've seen a couple DCs in my recent games due to killer toxicity (anonymous killers obviously) and this change would've changed the tide of our entire game. If the bot lasted just 15 seconds longer, we would have had all gens done and at least one of us (out of one other survivor) could've escaped 100%.

  • Yeah, I would say so. Just a shame to see it in such a obsolete state soon.

  • @VomitMommy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3593263#Comment_3593263

I mean, until now you didn't even think it is possible to do, but it doesn't take skill now?

If so, then you would have more players doing it, right?

Same for hit&run / stealth builds, you need to be good at guessing distance, so survivors won't prerun.

Never said it wasn't possible. Just harder to do. It never ever took skill for Skull Merchant to three gen. More players don't do it because it's boring. Simple as that. They have a oppressive ability, so why not use it in chase? Old Skull Merchants couldn't be bothered with the learning curve and were stuck with three genning. They were fine with that because they loved annoying survivors.

  • @VomitMommy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3593261#Comment_3593261

I wouldn't say it's worse overall. Issue is her old 3-gen wasn't really able to win properly.

Her current 3-gen is easier to break, but she also has better chance to win. So her current 3-gen is definetly more healthy for the game, it is similar to other killers with good 3-gens.

But it is definetly viable strategy, I often use it when I notice survivors with multiple toolboxes. It's funny challenge for me, they want to escape faster, so I play against it.

Sure I guess but it doesn't take any skill, right?

  • @VomitMommy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3593248#Comment_3593248

She holds it just as well as an M1 killer can. That's not quite well.

It's definetly way better than normal M1 killers.

You just setup drones in all loops around 3-gen and force survivors to work on gens injured, then sneak up with stealth.

Funny is I have never played Chess merchant before, but I did after her rework just to show survivors they are not saved from it :D

why would people rate her as the most boring killer to face?

Go ask them, I don't really mind playing against her...

I consider it hate of past issue...

Perhaps its slightly better but its far from what it was, especially since solo queue is more aware of three genning.

I don't need to ask, you just told me you three genned survivors and used undetectable to brainlessly kill them. No skill in that.

  • Weirdly enough solo queue love their totems. Any totem they can get their hands on is GONE.

  • @VomitMommy said:

What your teammates are doing is quite good to know. That's something I am quite happy about. I consider that great change that helped soloQ a lot, at least for my games...

If I see noone is working on gens, I am going to play more risky, because I don't want to waste resources.

If I see three survivors working on different gens, I will do my best to have as long as possible chase, doesn't matter how many pallets I use.

Yeah, it was a fantastic change. I don't base my chase around what teammates are doing though. I just make use of all the loops I can and loop efficiently. I couldn't care less what they are doing, as long as I get a long chase in, I'm happy. It's what solo queue matchmaking does to you.

  • @VomitMommy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3593239#Comment_3593239

We can both agree her three gen capability is bad now so that isn't even a playstyle to consider.

No, we can't. She is still able to hold 3-gen quite well. It's just not hour long 3-gen without winning version..

    Very limited builds.

I mean, if you consider this limited, then we get back to "same as many other killers".

She holds it just as well as an M1 killer can. That's not quite well. They would also have to dedicate the match protecting the three gen which would pretty easily lead to their downfall.

If there wasn't very limited builds or playstyles, why would people rate her as the most boring killer to face? Wesker has many playstyles and that's why its fun to face him albeit how much times you have him. Boredom doesn't happen because a killer was bad to face. They apparently still are.

  • @VomitMommy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3593232#Comment_3593232

    • You can try to use them in advance on loops
    • You can try to set them around gens
    • You can just use them mainly for stealth

    Builds again are different:

    • hit & run
    • stealth
    • 3-gen
    • chase

Maps affect effectivness of her stealth.

We can both agree her three gen capability is bad now so that isn't even a playstyle to consider. Hit and run can intertwine with stealth and chase is just chase. Very limited builds.

Setting them around gens is useless due to the counterplay you provided (which I provided in the discussion) so it's definitely a way to play her, but far from effective. We are left with only two playstyles that are considered effective.

  • @VomitMommy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3593226#Comment_3593226

You are not able to notice your survivor model in chase.

You are not able to look at HUD, which has also other valuable information btw.

but you think semi-transparent block under your survivor would help it?

What valuable information does it have? Please, inform me. That I'm getting chased...?

  • @VomitMommy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3593225#Comment_3593225

It's because every game is the exact same.

    How so?

Different maps affect her, it's very different to play against Merchant indoor / outdoor.

Builds are different, she has different playstyles.

Players use drones in different ways.

If you try to say she just walks into a loop and use her power, we get back it "same as most other killers"...

How do maps affect her playstyle? Drones just become less effective for indoor maps. Builds are mostly the same. There is very little variation because there doesn't have to be any. She's strong in each category. How do they use drones differently? Some forget to use them?

  • @VomitMommy said:

I wouldn't like pointless things on my screen, which I don't need.

They could make it an accessibility feature tho...

Okay, you do you. It's literally like having the HUD feature at the bottom of the screen. It's not that deep. Could even be semi-transparent.

  • @VomitMommy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3593218#Comment_3593218

You would be suprised how much your kill rates increase when survivors keep giving up. Which is mostly still because of her old version. That's not something you can fix.

Clown has better chase than merchant, which is what you mainly complain about...

That's entirely subjective though. I looped one recently for five gens. Never done that with a Skull Merchant.

Survivors give up because they realize the rework didn't fix much apart from the Chess Merchant situation. Sure, the past haunts her, but survivors don't just give up because it WAS bad. It's because every game is the exact same.

  • @VomitMommy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3593215#Comment_3593215

I mean, that doesn't affect Skull merchant, so I couldn't care less, but I would expect most survivors to hate it.

How come? It's only more information they can use to plan accordingly and won't interfere with the game. Unless they like to inspect the grass whilst looping.

  • @VomitMommy said:

Why should I argue about it? I just thought it is funny to bring it as an argument and then say it's not worth doing it, it doesn't make any sense.

how I encounter Skull Merchants every other game whilst Clown games occur almost once in three weeks. Pick rates prove otherwise.

    • Clown is old killer, nothing new about him
    • Skull merchant just got reworked
    • Skull merchant is women
    • Skull merchant has better skins (in my opinion)

Based on nighlight (best thing we have) her pick rate is currently 2.54%, that is supposed to be a lot? Clown has 2.35%... So massive difference.

you agreed since you didn't argue about it.

    That is assuming.

Alright lets use Nightlight. Her kill-rate is at 67.29%, way ahead of the optimum 60% BHVR set. Clown has a 49.80% kill-rate. Way below the optimum 60%. How can Clown be better than Skull Merchant?

I did assume because I like to play other people's games.

You say you want something in middle of your screen while you already have something in middle of your screen....

That glowing is visble quite a lot, it's not hard to notice it with peripheral vision.

It is hard to see on bright maps.

I do want the meter in the bottom middle, better to see enlargened circles/shapes and remain focused on chase.

  • Turrets aren't really effective for their purpose. You need at least two in one area to get the killer out of their power and you don't see that in solo queue, only in a coordinated SWF. They are strong in the right hands, but I think they're in a good spot. Kinda.

EMPs are definitely rough to face when going against SWF but they have to exist really otherwise it would just be teleport and hit simulator. I don't really have a definite opinion on them. I've been obliterated by Singularities and I've obliterated them as well in some games.

  • Yeah I can. Now try to see that when the SM has undetectable and you have no idea where she is and you're desperately trying to hear where the footsteps are coming from. Or, you know, when you're actually in a chase.

  • For me it's just an eyesore. I don't use it at all because it barely even helps me.

  • @VomitMommy said:

You just assume everything about me. Literally everything.

Not really, I read what you wrote, notice it doesn't work for many other killers and point it out...

According to you then, half of his ability is useless.

Half of what? Clown? You are the one who said it's not worth it. I don't think so...

Why is Skull Merchant so much better than him then?

When did I say she is much better than him? I am just interested why you think she is an issue when he can do most of her things better.

He can do most of her things better? Explain how I encounter Skull Merchants every other game whilst Clown games occur almost once in three weeks. Pick rates prove otherwise.

You read what I write about one problematic killer and then base it on all the other killers and call it my standard. That is assuming.

I said it's not worth it, and you agreed since you didn't argue about it.

hinders my reaction time and that's a gg go next in high MMR

You don't have time to look at HUD while you hold W away from loop?

I don't take time to count how much tiny circles or whatever I have around my survivor's portrait

You can see on survivor model, you got tagged... You are literally glowing red for a second. How the hell you are not able to notice that? That is in middle of your screen...

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/OZDA12EN9NRW/untitled.png

Sometimes you can't hold W like you said. What then?

Once you loop them a while you tend to lose track of how much times you glew red for a second. You know, because you're getting chased by a anti-loop killer and have other things to focus on.

  • @VomitMommy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3592925#Comment_3592925

There's nothing different about the games.

    Again, like most killers...

I will never understand why you try to hold Skull merchant to your "standard", which doesn't work for most other killers anyway.

you need to hold back to get the effect. That takes time and isn't worth it most of the time.

That's true only for max range throws and you said it's not worth it, so why bother talking about it? In your opinion it's something clown shouldn't do.

When he is close range -> other side of the loop, there is almost no down time.

You don't even know my standard. You just assume everything about me. Literally everything.

Every other killer provides a different experience. If you think they're all the same then you must be going against the same players. Skull Merchant only provides two scenarios as listed in the discussion which has not been argued about. I'd be glad to.

It's worth to talk about it because you want to compare them two. That's exactly what I'm doing. According to you then, half of his ability is useless. Why is Skull Merchant so much better than him then? Where's the balance?

  • @VomitMommy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3592929#Comment_3592929

You said you play in high MMR, but you are not able to look at HUD while being in chase?

You can see laser passing through your body, that's not good enough hint? When it happens three times, you get claw trap, there is nothing random about it.

No because I focus on where the killer is and react to that. I don't take time to count how much tiny circles or whatever I have around my survivor's portrait on the very left of my screen because it hinders my reaction time and that's a gg go next in high MMR.

The lasers aren't always perfect thanks to server lag and I randomly do get scanned from time to time. I'm positive many others have as well. It's like Huntresses' hatches, they either become trucks or arrows.

I have had it all before this came, i was a killer main and you wont believe the lenghts some people will go to annoy you when they loose.

Again, it dosnt make any sense that you have to make anything outside the game private, instead of the game whose community is notorious for toxicity, having the option to be private.

I was a iri one Trapper main for most of my time playing killer. Had messages from randoms off and comments on my profile off. Nothing happened, just the usual endgame chat nonsense when I was playing as fairly as possible anyway. There's nothing more they can do than that unless your social media name is the exact same but that is silly. If they friend request you, just block them.

Most multiplayer games are toxic and yet they don't have an anonymous mode, just a effective reporting system.

So you want people to make everything around them private, instead of the game whose community is notorious for toxicity, having the option to be private? That makes no sense.

And yes, i dont want to be stalked on my profile.

Your Steam profile comments being private does not make your whole Steam account private, people can still see all your stuff, just can't comment. I don't want EVERYTHING to be private, never said so. That's why it doesn't make sense.

If you don't want to be stalked, just make your account private. What's a gamer tag going to give the apparent 'stalkers'?

  • Seeing DBD mobile receive a new game mode after being released in 2020 and all the creative cosmetics for EACH survivor really pushes that feeling. There's no push for new ideas, just new DLCs. The cosmetic team was expanded and yet DBD mobile is doing a far better job in my opinion. It's all a mess.

Well I have a problem when my entire loop becomes inaccessible and I randomly receive claw trap tokens that I cannot acknowledge since I'm focused on the chase. Would be nice to at least have a meter on the bottom center of the screen to display that.

Needs to switch potions? Since when it takes time? It's button press again.

    Drone is pretty fast nevertheless.

Unless you stay there / return it will never tag you. Even when I stand on top of survivor, they can run away from it.

Yes and Skull Merchants are aware of the speed boost and can play around it to render it null if you're zoned.

All those killers are aware how their powers work and can play around it. It's not different from skull merchant.

The guard doesn't take any skill whatsoever, neither does the remnant.

So why do you try to argue it's bad about Skull mechant, when those things are exactly same for many other killers again?

Yeah and when you throw it, it doesn't go far enough and you need to hold back to get the effect. That takes time and isn't worth it most of the time.

Yeah the drone will never tag you unless you run to another loop but here's the problem, most loops are far away on numerous maps. You're forced to stay there and witness the effect. Skull Merchant isn't slower when placing the drones to allow that.

Because Dredge requires skill. You can't just hold the remnant and use the same strategy over and over again or you'll be predictable. Every single Skull Merchant is predictable but, with lack of counterplay, what can you even do about it? It literally feels like you're going against the same Skull Merchnt each game. There's nothing different about the games.

  • And I got accused of seeing through objects by a sore loser playing Clown that couldn't comprehend the idea of a good headset and good camera usage. They thought Plaything would make me blind and deaf I guess, instead I looped him for five gens even when I was injured off hook and tunneled. But yeah they reported me and apparently recorded it so I hope BHVR doesn't believe them. 🙃

How does she have haste if you left the loop? It's not something she can get whenever she wants unlike Clown...

Drone is also not instant, you have time to leave when she deploys it. Which means she has neither haste or bloodlust.

What would I get a speed boost from exactly?

When you get injured by drones, you get normal speed boost. You don't just become broken.

Artist takes skill in order to line up the crows correctly

It's not really that hard to use in loops. It takes skill to get hits across whole map, but when you stack three crows in a loop, it takes skill to miss instead...

    Placing a drone doesn't

Like most powers in DBD... Just because it is not difficult to press a button, it doesn't mean that power is too strong...

Using Guard in loop takes skill?

If I have The Carnifex as Knight, you are even more screwed. You can't even drop a pallet in front of me at that point.

    Using Remnant takes skill?

Press a button, walk around a loop, if survivors gets close to it, use it, if don't cancel it...

All of those are quite basic powers. Same for Clown, to use his power you need more knowledge than skill. But that's true for any killer.

Clown needs to switch potions to use his haste ability which takes time.

    Drone is pretty fast nevertheless.

Yes and Skull Merchants are aware of the speed boost and can play around it to render it null if you're zoned.

The guard doesn't take any skill whatsoever, neither does the remnant. With the remnant it's just about decision-making which requires skill.

´´if you can, hack the drone mid chase´´, if you can, some ppl are just guitar hero god level pro players and can do it in like half a second, you need to be safe for doing it like after dropping a pallet, if you can loop clown, you can loop skull merchant, why don´t you try to learn the looping? windows and pallets still a thing even with a 10% hindered

    LOL.png

Just did a five gen chase against one. All three escaped whilst I got tunneled off hook with no healing.

    I can loop Clowns.

Against good Artist, there is no counterplay but running to the next loop. You're relying on mistakes that they won't make. Against Dredge, you can only run to the next loop if it's very close i.e. can be chained. There's also Trapper, which is 4.6 m/s and gains haste after setting a trap. Knight also has an addon that gives him a speed boost after setting a Guard.

Trapper. Are we seriosuly bringing Trapper as an example here? He takes time to set up a trap and CANNOT move. Against a good Artist there's always a chance of counterplay. It's not impossible but it's very tricky. I've faced many Dredges and they are quite predictable. Just need to learn the playstyle and you'll be fine.

    his long reloads

If Clown reloads mid chase, he screwed it.

What are you going to do anyway in a loop? Camp pallet? It's three seconds, when you are most likely to stand in exactly same spot...

Why won't you take advantage of temporary immunity, which is also three seconds skull merchant drones have?

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3592503#Comment_3592503

You can't just run to the next loop each time against a 4.6 m/s killer (that developed bloodlust/haste) without getting hit.

Again, if killer used power, they don't have bloodlust. So if there is no drone, you don't have to leave. If there is drone, why did you run there?

Funny is with Dredge you actuallly have to leave loop. It's easy against him, but he is going to get hit if you stay there sooner or later. You can play loop against Skull merchant.

Because for Artist you can run into the crows which doesn't injure you

But it allowes her to injure you with next crow even through walls / loop / distance.

With that logic you can run through drones, they are not able to injure you under 6 seconds and you would have to really try to catch all lasers. While you still get speed boost.

You can bait crows? That's a counterplay?

Well, you can dodge lasers by correct pathing.

You can crouch for second, you can stand in check spot.

It's funny what you consider counterplay with those killers is not really better what you don't consider counterplay for skull merchant.

That's why I said bloodlust SLASH haste.

You don't have to leave the loop against a Dredge. It's way better if you don't, otherwise he might cut you off with a locker teleport. I've looped a Dredge on the same loop countless times, just takes good mindgames. Never felt forced to leave.

What would I get a speed boost from exactly? Running through drones does not give a speed boost. Also, Artist takes skill in order to line up the crows correctly and to predict a survivor's movement. Placing a drone doesn't, you just need to be near a survivor for it to work.

Funny is I consider drones weaker than any of those three...

    I would probably rate it:

    • Knight
    • Dredge
    • Artist
    • Skull merchant

There is also a Trapper and Hag, kinda doing same thing, but I would say those are worse for this than Skull merchant.

How is this conversation still going? Placing a Drone in a loop is like Artist, Knight, and Dredge. You just run to the next one.

Because for Artist you can run into the crows which doesn't injure you or you can bait doing that so the Artist releases them. Two counterplays. Dredge is the exact same, but when he holds his ability he moves slower, allowing you to move to the next loop. An extra counterplay. Knight is a different story. You can't just run to the next loop each time against a 4.6 m/s killer (that developed bloodlust/haste) without getting hit.
