  • I used to be set free more often as the last survivor than I have been lately. I don't play killer often but I rarely do it myself. Sometimes I do though if there's a gaggle of Claudettes doing Claudette things, I will let the person go who didn't spend the entire game hiding.

Don't camp the pallet while you're healing. Also don't run self-care at all. Solved it.

Any plans on brightening the map? It is SUPER dark.

I was on the old Yamaoka map for the first time yesterday and we had three gens done before I realized it wasn't the new Yamaoka map. WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT'S DARK? 😉

  • I agree with you - the challenges have definitely had a negative effect on gameplay, at least on the survivor side, and a big one at that. I'm not even trying to do any of the killer challenges anymore since I'm a survivor main and it wouldn't be fun for me. I think if they made some tweaks it could be better - like being able to do challenges in any order you want - it would be better. I don't blame you for being frustrated. And even if you don't do the challenges, others are, and it negatively affects the games. It's a shame.

  • Literally every game I SWF benefits the killer. My rank is usually 3-6 and my friends are 15-17. Going against a red or purple killer with three 15-17s is a nightmare. We can play for hours and not power all five gens a single time. In fact, this is so often the case that four people I tried to introduce to this game stopped playing, and I just play solo now. It can't be good for the game that it's so miserable to get new people to play. I find it funny that the forums are full of people screaming about how unfair and toxic SWF is when in some cases, it gives the killers a huge advantage.

  • One could argue that you take the risk of bad rng when you use ruin, and there are plenty of other perks killers can use to slow down gens.

    Rank 6 survivor atm. I main Dwight/Nea/Feng

I play around 3 to 5 survivor matches per day and get at least one to two dodges. Killers D/C has also gotten worse in the past month or two I feel

Oh yeah the killer dc's are making challenges really annoying for me. When the game doesn't bug and actually gives me credit for them, the killer dc's. It happens a LOT lately.

  • @Clinton said:

It happens constantly on PS4. If there's two or more tool boxes it's almost an automatic dodge

Pfft, what do you mean? I just got dodged two out of my last three. My record was five straight yesterday which made me stop playing. I never run prestige cosmetics in case that might scare away some killers. What rank are you, btw? I'm five right now and the dodges are worse than they've ever been.

  • I JUST GOT STUCK ON SOME HAY! HOW EXCITING. Exposed by a Ghostface who I saw first and stood out in the open and then got stuck on the side of some hay bales for no reason and went down in one. Later that game, I got stuck on nothing running through the cornfield. WHAT FUN.

  • I leave lobbies as a survivor if there's a Blendette. I just will not play with someone who is too afraid to play. And high ping.

  • I never get credit for protection hits when I run WGLF so I'm not ever going to use Mettle. I don't trust it to actually activate.

  • I had a teammate switch to a Blendette with a key at the last second. She did nothing but Urban Evade until we all died and then she got hatch and after the game she just said, "Sorry, I had the challenge." But these challenges are great and not at all ruining the game.

  • Does anyone use Mettle anymore? I haven't seen it once since the nerf. Literally.

  • Yeah I was four when rank reset happened and I started back up again at five. It's a shame because I'd like to play with friends but going against a red or purple killer with three teammates who are 15-17 is just not fun. We've all been playing less and I'm sure we aren't the only ones. It can't be healthy for the game that it's miserable to introduce your friends to it.

    that’s the thing though:

instas are way weaker than moris and keys, yet insta got ruined.

i know the devs probably don’t want to address this situation because it may cause a riot, but it’s best if maybe someone were to take a poll on what changes they want to see with mori/keys.

its the only way we will be able to come to a conclusion on the changes.

I don't think taking a poll is necessarily the best way to deal with it. Squeakiest wheels aren't necessarily correct. And I see far more ebony moris come into play than keys. It's not even close. I've never understood the complaining about keys but again. Squeaky wheels.

  • @Leachy_Jr said:

Ebony moris are the killers way of dealing with a SWF group. I hate it when people compare moris to keys as keys are much weaker but more annoying. If they nerf ebony moris then they should nerf SWF along with it. If they're not going to balance the game around SWF then ebonys should remain the same.

Every single SWF game I play favors the killer. How is one red rank with three yellows vs a red rank killer in any way fair? We will play for three hours at a time and not once power all five gens. I face easier killers and get bored with how easy games are when I play solo. It's bad for the health of the game too because I've tried to get friends to play this game and they just get destroyed so easily they don't stick with the game.

  • @PistolTimb said:

It's been said a million times. You can't nerf Moris without nerfing keys. Both are unfair and cheap AF

But they nerfed insta heals without touching moris...

i completely understand, but the less people that stoop to such low levels is what ruins the game, im not saying dont go out your way more than normal (hence the empathy suggestion) but they are meant to be challenges, i know people struggle with it but its a good way to learn flashlights as hardly anyone uses them. but challenges like escape without being hooked, complete 4 gens with dark sense, get 3 sacrifices at endgame are insanely hard at rank 1, but getting a blind doesnt seem as bad personally, but one blind shouldnt be too hard if you run empathy give it a go

I'm a red rank survivor on console. All those other challenges were cake walks compared to this one.

    GOOD NEWS THOUGH

Decided to try one last time and came across a killer who was not playing for real and just trying to do their challenges and they let me get the easy flashlight save. Hooray??

  • @Stitch7833 said:

Okay so if you blind the killer early (as soon as they start picking them up) you will get the bind but not the save, this will still count towards the challenge, i done it this way myself because rank 1 spirit was being difficult on lery`s. my advice to you would be to go for the early blind to make it easier and the killer less paranoid, but if you run empathy tier 3 you will be able to see roughly where the person being chased is (normally because after a hit they get the speed boost away). this will just allow you to get closer and help positioning if you really want it, but dont just throw the game to get it, thats very frustrating for everyone else

I had a game where a teammate threw down a pallet to block me from running from the killer just so she could try to get the flashlight save. I'm not going to do that by any means, but if I play normally and don't go out of my way to try, I will never get this challenge done. I don't play killer so I was going to try to do all the survivor challenges but I've literally spent hours trying and it's not working for me. All I've learned is that I'm very unlikely to spend money on the next set of challenges.

  • @kisfenkin said:

@meatisadelicacy I can't get flashlight saves on PS4, but lucky for me the challenge was to blind the killer in level 3. So, fireworks work, which I can easily do.

    Hope this helps.

Yeah I'm playing on PS4. It's very wonky at best.

I did that and it didn't count for me. Not the first time I've done a challenge and not received credit though.

  • Got a purple flashlight out of the chest, felt lucky, botched the save again, got camped and tunneled. I could have blinded the killer at a pallet but I decided not to be a jerk, I just wanted the save. That's what I get. I'm done trying. Maybe in Tome 4 there will be one or two survivor challenges I can try. I'm kinda very over it.

This is why I run Surge and Thrilling Tremors so I can both damage and block Gens for a little while. Surge may not be fantastic, but it really helps when those Gens get blocked off, and it's saved me many times!

Yeah Surge has ruined my life many times, especially since we Survivors fail skill checks when letting go of gens so often. Surge forces me off and then I instantly fail another skill check for letting go of the gen...

  • @AvisDeene said:

    I can't blind the killer to save my life even if he stood still ;_;

I don't know how I am going to complete this challenge. When I do try, the focus me down for bringing in a flashlight.

Yeah that's what just happened to me. I knew I'd have one chance only because then as soon as they down someone else the slug them and come looking for me. I'm not mad at killers it's just incredibly frustrating for someone who almost never even tries to get flashlight saves because I don't bring them in and I don't run Empathy. So the chances of me being in the right position and looting a flashlight from a chest and then successfully getting the save are very low.

    @kcwolf1975 said:

I am dreading this one too. I have avoided the flashlight challenges as long I could, now they are the only two left. I have 3 of the 4 blinds completed, but I am definitely not looking forward to the actual save challenge. Any tips? I am thinking that I will run empathy to try and be in the area..

I could get the blinds pretty easily as long as I could get the killer to break a pallet. I've been trying with Empathy, but because this challenge is so difficult for me it's making me lose games that would otherwise be easy wins. I'm not immersed by any means but I also don't spend the entire game chasing the killer while he chases an injured teammate only to botch the save and get downed myself after he slugs that person. I'm not even trying to do the killer challenges because I don't play killer and they won't be fun for me, but I might abandon this one as well.

  • @LordRegal said:

it doesn’t need to be an actual save. If you blind the killer while they’re in the pickup animation, even if you do it “too early” and the survivor doesn’t get off their shoulder, the challenge is completed.

I actually did that and it didn't count for me, so I assumed it had to be a save. But that's hardly the first challenge I've completed that didn't count. I should have known.

  • @BaldursGate2 said:

Even with thrill of the hunt combo. If both hex totems are found in the beginning, you can not save both anyway. Ruin has to be removed as perk and made as standart speed for genrepair. This perk takes a whole slot, for being utterly useless so often, but most ppl run it, without you have deffinitely low chances of winning.

I'm gonna touch all your totems. I cannot tell you how many games I've had where I single-handedly touch your ruin and all the dulls so there's no NOED either. High risk, high reward. Maybe try running other perks that affect gens besides Ruin?

  • @Raptorrotas said:

    99ing shouldnt be a thing.

And BW could queue its activation once doors are powered. Like adrenaline on hooked survivors.

Just open the gates yourself then. If the reason survivors 99 the gates is so that they can try to make saves without the pressure of the EGC which heavily favors the killers, OPEN THE GATE.

  • @BORREDD23422432_ said:

Most of the time I play as killer my ruin or devour gets cleansed in the first 30 seconds of the game. So I'm stuck with 3 perks and a hard game.

Don't use ruin. This isn't me trying to be salty. I'm going to find your totem within 30 seconds if not faster. Use other perks that can't be deactivated.

  • Happens to me when I play killer. And when I SWF my yellow rank friends go against a red rank killer because of my rank and matchmaking. I've stopped playing with friends now because we literally can't get all the gens done even once in several hours of playing, much less escape.

It's just not fun to have no chance - killer or survivor.

  • It's very noticeable for me in the lobby. Otherwise I don't see it. I don't expect them to fix it.

  • @Nobsyde said:

We all do this: 99% an exit gate to avoid EGC and Bloodwarden.

Someone already proposed to make Exit Gates slowly regress if not fully opened, but that would be unfair in certain scenarios.

    But what if...

Exit Gates can go till 90% as it is now, but the last 10% must be completed in one go. If a survivor stops opening the gate, the gate regresses to 90%.

A slight UI change would be nice to easily tell survivors what's going on, I can imagine two ways to do this:

    • add a vertical bar at the 90% mark. Once the progress reaches the vertical bar it lights up, and stays lit even if the survivor leaves the door.
    • the "Opening Exit Gate" progress bar stays the same, but the time to completely fill it is 9/10 (...90%). The wording changes from "Opening Exit Gate" to "Unlocking Exit Gate". When this step is completed, the progress bar resets to a new "Opening Exit Gate", which visualises the remaining 10%.

It could be even possible to add an audio cue for the killer once a gate reaches the 90% status, not that important, but still..

No. EGC is already a huge change that favors killers. Open the gate yourself if you want to apply pressure.

  • It seems to me that any new map favors the killer at first. I don't know where pallets, windows, totems, or gens spawn yet. I don't run urban nor do I play Claudette but I die a lot on the new map because I have no idea where to run to so I can loop the killer. Can't blame survivors for trying to survive.

  • @Raven014 said:

I love just being unable to get to the other side of the map without a gen popping right as I get there. Fun times.

In all seriousness, some killers can't do anything against a competent team, especially one on coms. This is including the Oni (at least on console).

Isn't that the nature of video games? Some people are just better than you. It be like that sometimes. A lot of times, in my case.

  • @DontNerf said:

Yes i know another topic on gens but if its been talked about so much why hasnt anything been changed? Far too many times have i gen rushed and been gen rushed in less than 6 minutes, How in the world is that fair or fun? It really does confuse me on how the devs continue to either ingore or just not care about this very large issue. Somthing needs to change and im sure any right minded player of this game would agree.

Thank you for reading and have a lovely day

Aren't there a whole bunch of perks you can run to help with gen speed?

Most of my games against him end with us all being dead and he doesn't even have max level perks yet. Some people on console are using him successfully.

Because not every game is this, a lot of them are but some are wholesome.

It just doesn't seem worth it. I've seen a lot of posts on here about the nastiness of post-game chat and I just don't get it.

  • @korean_zombie said:

I'm tired of being slugged 4 times a match. Frankly No Mither is probably his counter at this point. I haven't been M1'd by an Oni lately and he slugs so much. I guess its fun if you're the killer. I don't particularly enjoy crawling on the ground for 5 minutes so guess I'm gonna play a different game until people stop playing Oni or the playstyle changes from slugging. I'm also a little perturbed that blood orbs don't expire and slugs drop them so Oni can proximity camp a slug wait for that survivor to get picked up go into his power one shot the heal and slug again. Its just not fun. Its not fun at all.

I'm not salty about it, but I'm kinda surprised the devs made a killer that encourages slugging. It just doesn't seem healthy for the game to me. I don't blame any killers for playing Oni and using him as intended, it's just really boring to be slugged. For the most part I've had fun against him though, even though I die most of the time. I don't blame you for taking a break. I was bored to death by Ghostface and literally stopped playing the game for a week (on two occasions) because of him alone.

  • Why do you pc folk read that chat? I'm not trying to be sarcastic or obnoxious here. People can be toxic jerks and if it bothers you, just leave. Don't even give people the chance.

  • @mmain said:

100% agree with you. Just made a post about this myself. Didn't see yours until right after.

I don't necessarily want to play differently. I play in the way I enjoy already, but that's not the big issue for me. It's that it had less to often barely being able to play at all. Not many survivors are playing to win. They're playing to complete a challenge and they don't give a @!#$ about anyone else. Plus they are simply quitting the moment they realize they can't complete the challenge they are trying to finish.

The last couple of weeks there's been at least one person just quit in at least half my matches. Frequently that leads to others quitting quickly thereafter. I assume that's because the first person leaving means they can no longer complete whatever challenge they're working on.

I love this game, but these challenges have made it much less fun the last couple of weeks or so.

Yeah I don't want to have to play differently either. Like right now I have the flashlight challenge selected but I'm not bringing flashlights in or running empathy to make it easier because that's not how I normally play. I know I will get it eventually, just as the unhook challenge is something I would get eventually without having to try. But challenges are having a major effect on games, at least on the survivor side, and it's been really unhealthy for the game, in my opinion.

they are surv mains they dont udnerstand that, how would they understand it if the only thing they know is that they can make multiple mistakes per match and dont get punished for it, because there are still other people in the game to help them. they dont play killer they dont know how much stress the killer (one single person) go trough per match (in red ransk at least) how much one simple DS can change the entire game because the simple (i have no pressure now, i had it but i got punish even without tunneling and i lost the pressure i had and i needed u dont have everytime 60 seconds sometimes you need to kill people, u dont have tiem to slug, sometimes u need to have people out of the game) they dont understand that, they never will maybe if they start to play killer they could understand how survivor sided the game is punishing the killer for simple mistakes, they probably think killer is like survivor being able to fu*k it over and over again and nothing will happen. as a killer you cant fuk it over adn over again, and that is a problem the game has.

If you're going through stress playing a video game, I suggest you stop playing. Video games are supposed to be fun.

  • I was on a gen with a teammate. Billy came zooming in, she went right, I went left, and I then went back to the gen when I saw he was chasing her. He hit her, came back to kick the gen, then came after me. She came back from where she had run off, ignored the gen that was 95% done, and purposely threw a pallet to block me so she could get a flashlight save. I just do not see how this is fun. From people having no intention of anything but hiding so they can get hatch to purposely killing your teammates for the flashlight save, nothing about this different play style is fun.

Sounds like you didn't adjust for the new stuff. Try running Empathy. Should help with the unhooks. Most the people are done with the Tomes for the most part with a few stragglers and than the people who dont care.

I'm back to regular gaming I dont see people doing many challenges anymore.

I don't know wha that means that I didn't adjust for the new stuff. I'm saying that having to play differently just to get challenges done is not fun for me, and your solution is to play differently? I'm done with the unhooks challenge. It wasn't fun. Even if most people were done by now, which in my experience they aren't, there will be a fresh tome and it will start again.

  • Have Unbreakable ready for when you do.

  • @Dehitay said:

Being made to play differently is actually entertaining. I don't know why you would have a problem with that. The real problem is that the devs didn't really think through some of the challenges obviously encouraging unfun playstyles.

I don't see how having to compete with three other people for unhooks is entertaining. Or having to do x amount of heals a game at the expense of actually doing gens and getting what would be an easy win. Even if I don't buy the pass again, which I won't, other people will and it affects the game. Normally I'd get 2-3 unhooks a game easily. For that challenge? It was barely one in four or five hours of playing. How is going into games with a person who changes at the last second into a Blendette with a key who is trying for the Escape Without Being Hooked challenge fun? Teammates literally have no intention of trying, just hiding until everyone is dead and getting out through the hatch.
