can i see those stats? never saw those in game so idk what the hell is that
That is, like I said, a problem, you can't see these numbers. In every competitive game (or games with matchmaking) most have some kind of MMR.
It originates from chess, where your elo determines how good of a chess player you are, and it's a VERY good thing to know your elo if you play against someone.
Most games that have some kind of skill-level in characters or other influences use (often beside a ranked system) MMR to determine your skill, your "elo"
Elo =/= Rank
in DBD it was that the emblems were used, but the problem was high-elo, where everyone in red-rank was maxed out, instead of adding more ranks (or doing a separate rank system) now a hidden number, that only does it job sometimes (because queue times get favoured) determines what enemies you get.
In a game like DBD, it just doesn't work how they want it to make, especially as Kills and escapes count ONLY.
Well, everyone hates it. If you ever want to know more and how Systems like that work, League of legends system is actually pretty interesting and a lot of documentation is available, same with CS:GO. IDK about any other games unfortunate where the implementation was made more public. Oh, maybe games where the ELO is made public overall. Some card games do that

Well, survivors can still hide forever depending on the map and killer. Them not knowing where the hatch will spawn doesn't stop that at all. That's a separate issue that I don't understand why it hasn't been addressed yet.
Killer can force end-game collapse, so no, they can't hide forever

what does sbmm or mmr even mean?
SBMM= Skill based match-making (kills/escapes count to your MMR-> basically a hidden score that determines how "good" you are)

Then why are some accounts private, have a dbd name or are lvl 0?
This gaem is the only one where i made messages friends only.
When an account is private, the level is always shown as 0

Can i not be put against 1k+ hours suvrs? Please? BHVR, do you care for your ga- He-Hello?? Anyone? Please? Ty. :>
1k hours mean nothing as a number.
I got him when i played killer:
he was a survivor in an SWF, the other had 3000h the others around 500h.
I have 300h as I type, back then more like 130h (luckily I send it to a friend as I think it was super funny).
These times are always weird when you check achievements or other games, some people have 50+ games with a lot of hours. Some people play 50/50 on both sides, some others just play one side etc. it's super hard to say how much playtime tells about skill.
The SBMM literally doesn't work at all, after this time we should have enough players in the right skill levels (especially mine, lmao). But i often get people with 50h or multiple thousands. In the end, it means nothing, neither as a survivor nor a killer.
You can keep a game open and you still get "playtime".
We can't see our or others' MMR or "skill level" the emblems were a somewhat reference. And i see a ton of these posts which means we need some transparency. It would help a lot.

i got the adept, now i do the rest i'm missing then i will play the killers as i feel (and depends what i unlock etc.)
She is nice though, pretty hard to make her useful, but i got some builds in my mind, now i just need to unlock the right stuff to try it out, so before i actively play her, i need to grind

I ran into the weirdest bug. As nemesis from the beginning till the end of the game I could not hear grunts of pain, screams, generators, footsteps, vaults, and pallet drops. I could however hear chase music and nemesis growling after hitting. I've never ran into this bug with him before. Major bug or hack?
Sounds like a bug to me. It could be that you (f.e) tabbed out of the game and when you tabbed back in, it got confused and hurt itself. I wouldn't say hack, most hacks are under maintenance when a new patch comes out, but idk how fast they are with patching, as the PTB exists i could imagine they actually already patching before anything comes out.
I don't know how DBD loads it sounds, but i remember one instance where someone had a 7.1 headset (you know, they are still a thing) and it caused problems from time to time. Best is to record that stuff, if you can of course ^^
-
around 20 000 000
i recently got lost progress back in bloodpoints :'D
-
The biggest Problem is just that, when i want to play Survivor, i just need to get them to level 40 (maybe 41) to unlock all their perks. Ignoring shrine. Then i can level 1 Survivor to the max (of course my favorite survivor). It doesn't matter which survivor it is, they all play the same.
As a killer i need every killer level 40 to unlock all the perks, then my favorite one gets all the perks first, i want to test this funny build i saw from youtube (or w/e). Oh now i want to level my second killer, let's unlock as many perks as i need, damn no blood points, now i can't put blood points into my first killer :( that means i don't have the add-ons that are only viable as the rest is useless, well let's level him, now i can't level the third killer at all and can't unlock funny/necessary perks :(.
i recently got 27 000 000bp as i lost progress. and i can't even unlock all the perks on killers... to play for 27 000 000bp is a grind i never want to do again, if they hadn't helped me with the loss, i would have cried and stopped playing for sure. Hundred of hours just to unlock certain perks is just.... sigh i hope they find a better solution soon, at least for that, i don't care for Prestige, except for archivments.

I thought about this several times
I don't have any idea of programming, but is really that hard to implement a script in the servers to detect if one player is moving too fast in the map coordinates, repairing a generator too quickly or using perks he hasn't equiped? Seeing this from outside doesn't seems to be that hard.
It would work for sure, especially with how the game works in the background. It would take work and some stuff comes from your side and tells the server "hey server, i walk with 200mp/h" server answers "alright, i move you with 200mp/h"
If the server would know how fast you can walk and should walk (let's say we ignore perks for now) he could say "ay are you falling right now, because you are faster than what you should walk right now? no? why are you faster?" so it checks you. if you have a certain amount of checks, it kicks you or temp. bans you (ofc that is super simplified and ignored a lot of stuff)
With perks, it would take a lot of work to make the server check every single perk and needs to know a lot of stuff which takes a lot of calculations, etc, etc.
It can cause many problems with latency, so if you have just 20ms higher ping, it could cause a lot of trouble. Often it would need to be known from the beginning to take it into consideration.

I’ve done the same. Their accounts were banned in days. I suspect I wasn’t the only player reporting them, but I bookmarked their accounts and checked up later. All of them. Game banned.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2832991#Comment_2832991
Yeah I think I get it. Real quick, two things:
1.) DBD has an in game player ID. You can view your own in settings. When submitting a ticket, it asks for this IDnumber. When you report someone at the end of a trial, it ties their DBD ID to yours through the report. When they ask for the offender, you only need to put their user name so they can trace your submitted reports.
2.) I do not record every match either. I just record a minute or two when I find a cheater and track them for evidence. If playing killer, I’ll spend a portion of my match reporting them then and there.
ay, that makes more sense. i also always added the SteamID WHEN i reported, it seems to definitly make it more viable for them to decide on a ban (but that's just how i can see the situation)
The system still needs an overhaul. That's what i wish for. Cheaters will get new accounts, but when we can ban them quicker, i'm all for it
-
@Steel_Eyed said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2832745#Comment_2832745
That’s not true about the ID. This reads like simply complaining.
You could do something about it though.
Oh, my bad, I didn't know you can get their ID. That is on me then. Maybe I just never found it. I really couldn't be bothered to do all these steps. If I have a cheater I either just ignore them or mess around with the others. as long as the cheater doesn't have fun.
Yes, I complain, but more that I'm bothered about the problem how it exists, and the steps to report are so "complicated". This system can't be defended. If I'm not allowed to complain about it, or if I understood you wrong, let me know.
I don't record every game as i often just play one round, then stop, later play another round again, etc.
I played a lot CS:GO and i was so fed up that I threw it away over night, literally never touched this game ever since. Back then i was invested in checking every game for mistakes they made or using the spectator tool in small tournaments, and it makes you paranoid.
For me I only record if someone is blatant and if I get it, I get it, if not, w/e.
-
@Steel_Eyed said:
I don’t want to stop yall from complaining if that’s all you want to do but there is a support ticket method that gets hackers accounts banned (quickly). If you bothered. If you wanted to do more than complain on the forums.
If they are on Console (which you can appear as via cheats/scripts) you can't get their ID. Which makes it useless. If you don't record the evidence and then upload it and also do all the steps-> why should it be such a struggle to report someone?
Also, you can use certain stuff to unban yourself. And even IF you get banned, another game key costs like 5$, most don't care if they have to rebuy everything.
And to talk about ESP, speedhacks you can barely notice and other stuff that is just not easy to see on a recording is super hard to get evidence.

There's no legal need to quickly put her back up like there would be with a paid DLC character. You wouldn't see Bubba disabled for months.
I'm sorry, but you are wrong. They could delete Every DLC character (theoretically) and wouldn't have any legal problems. A game is a service, and if they decide (for whatever reason) they need to do that, you can't do anything. Not speaking about reputation. In my time as game-tester/Techsupport for a game studio, I learned how fricked that whole situation can get. There are MANY games that deleted stuff you "paid for" and you couldn't do anything.
One story was about a known pro-player in a very known shooter who got banned, and then they found out it was an accident. But because they were annoyed by the negative press they just deleted all his bought items in his game but unbanned him by saying "yeah it was an accident but unfortunately we can't give you your stuff back (which is bs btw). He lost an estimation of 3500$ (i think).
In every EULA it even says something about how they can change content and you can't do anything about it. Of course, that also has non-harmful intentions, but mostly it is in the case of "game does bad, bye" stuff.

The issue with camping/tunneling is that chases and splitting pressure is currently one of the single worst things killers can do.
Its also for 2 reasons:
Circle of Healing has more or less killed hit and run/split pressure.
Killer nerfs/regression perk nerfs to both Pop directly and Ruin indirectly:
Pop lost its duration giving killers less time to split pressure to get the regression off. This is along with indirect nerfs such as blast mine which can cause the killer's pop to run out before they can use it.
As remember pop's timer doesn't pause during kicks/stuns so its entirely possible for pop to run out even though the first kick should have activated it.
Ruin was indirectly nerfed by the introduction of boons which caused nearly every single totem to be booned in a game and thus getting rid of all hexes. Ruin was always a risk but has only gotten worse at it.
TLDR: New survivor perks/Killer nerfs(Both Killers and their perks) have made camping/tunneling the best option.
Edit: I didn't go over direct killer nerfs as this is too long as is and they are too numerous.
COH is a big part why often you need to tunnel. I agree, Specially on bigger maps where you can't always find survivors all the time, and when you don't tunnel, then they heal up and you stand there like an idiot for being "nice".
Camping is another story, personally, i only do it if i played not good enough and only got 1 hook or w/e, then i can try to either see if they want to save them. Sometimes, when i go for Adept, i just let them go, no point in being sweaty if i only play for an achievement.

there are some who do it secretly so they don't report them
100% doesn't change that they often get caught sooner or later.
especially with a system where players can watch game replays and decide if it was cheating or not.
In CS:GO it's pretty easy to tell if someone has wallhacks or just really good game knowledge or game sense. In DBD it would be even easier to tell if they have wallhacks or speedhacks. And a system like that would make people cheat less for sure, even if it isn't as bad as CS:GO (and here we have to keep in mind how big the player base is in both games).
While in high elo, you can actually see, you can encounter a cheater every 2nd game (at least when I played). And i know even people i played with and thought they are really good cheated as you can turn a blind eye on fishy things when you play with someone.
That's why this anonymous system worked so well.
-
So far i only had 1 confirmed (even video proof).
and maybe 1-2 unconfirmed but very weird interactions. (very quick heals with no fitting perks etc. or super fast gens)
Sometimes i get paranoid when something seems "fishy" but i think that mainly comes from my old CS:GO times where they would suddenly rage-hack and hacks "only" cost 10$ per month with everything included. Idk what DBD cheats cost. But i heard they are pretty expensive.
Even if i would be desperate i would rather just play another game than pay money to win in this game. Maybe fun for 1-2 rounds to fly around or w/e but then i don't see how that could be still fun.

So Survivors get more struggle time on the hook for the Killer NOT being near the hook? Rofl, no.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2805222#Comment_2805222
No. Survivors would force the Killer to camp by being near the hook, wait for the blind, then unhook.
Survivors (I don't care if you say you're a Killer) need to stop suggesting easily-abused BS they can leverage for easy unhooks.
They get more overall, but if the killer hits someone that is 32m away from the hook, they loose progression on the hook.

It takes more than a few weeks to get a response from the support.
I've reported three separate incidents this week of obvious hacking in low MMR.
I lost Progress of ~35 000 000bp. IT was 3 months ago, almost 4, not a single answer like "hey sorry, we saw your message..." or anything. So yeah, i worked in Tech-support, and even if we had 5 000-10 000 tickets a day, we at least let people now we are aware they texting us. If grinding wouldn't be so tedious, i wouldn't care. The game is still fun, but such things want me to vomit on my keyboard.

If you down another surivor 32 meters away from a hooked person, they get a progression penalty (overall change that sacrifice takes longer to balance it)
Would encourage people to actually go for others to make the sacrifice faster.

I’m referring to the previous post in which I addressed your arguments before you made them, not my first post. My bad!
You have not refuted anything at all lol. Your arguments are very easily dismantled, and I will again demonstrate:
Yes, escaping is the objective.
To achieve the objective you must do other stuff.
Thus, your objective consists of multiple gameplay loops/activities, aka other objectives. These objectives require varying levels of skill.
Walking through the exit gate is the easiest activity within your main objective.
Looping the killer for a long time is the hardest activity within your main objective.
“But Mr. Gingeroo! Escaping IS the main objective!”
Yes, it is indeed! However, as we have already established, and as you have admitted yourself, in order to achieve said objective, you have to do other stuff. Therefore, your objective actually consists of far more than simply running through an exit gate. There are….several objectives!
Here’s the kicker though: The end result - actually running through that loading screen, is the easiest part of it all. The other stuff you do beforehand takes more skill. Running the killer for a long time takes the most, regardless of whether or not you run through a loading screen afterwards.
“But Mr. Gingeroo! Are you saying that survivor skill is not based solely on escapes, and to judge it that way ignores the full-picture? And…and that some of the activities you must engage with in order to escape in the first place actually take more skill than the actual escaping itself?”
Yes! That’s what I’m saying! I’m glad we are finally getting somewhere :D
(This topic sort of bores me and I’ve got to have some fun with it)
Racing a car needs you to step in it first :D So yes.
-
I wouldn't say "op". I think Wraith is actually pretty "balanced"
He has funny add-ons and can be played many ways.
Overall pretty nice as he's usable as a nice "noob-trap" i loved to play on low-mmr. To trap people in a corner while uncloaking was always fun. I'm still low-mmr and should play him more often, if i would play the game at all atm

Watching this skin get released is sad.
As an Eastern European (Who lives OUTSIDE of Russia), I feel heavily conflicted about the Baba Yaga skin. It makes me happy to see a bit of acknowledgement towards Slavic folklore, as Baba Yaga had some significance to me, especially with my parents warning me to behave or they'll feed me to her (lol).
But why is it that Slavic/Eastern European representation is always just 'Russia'? Especially when most of the Eastern European/Slavic countries to this day, have conflict with Russia over what the country did to them.
We have 8 Americans, 1 Nigerian, 1 'Anglo'-American, 2 African-Americans, 1 Russian, 2 Japanese, '4' Canadian, 1 Babylonian, 1 Irish-American, 1 Scottish, '2' French, 1 Korean, 1 English and 1 Chilean..
Before anyone comes in here, saying that this game isn't about lore - I agree. But it is nice to see representation, or acknowledgement towards one's culture, or even the impact that the culture has on the design of the killer.
Baba Yaga could've been a concept for a whole new killer in itself - and probably would've been a better idea than squeezing a whole 'deity' into a skin. Seeing people hate on the skin because they hate her unique sounds and/or design, is pretty disheartening too as this is the only nod that we, Slavic people, get towards our culture.
Whilst writing this post, I wanted to make sure that I had all fronts covered, and went ahead to read on the lore of the killers that weren't simply classified as 'American'.. Those that are of only one nationality, seem to be alright as they somewhat explore the country that those killers originate from, but those that are doubled with American?.. Lazy lore writing.
Baba Yaka has many appearances throughout folklore. It is mainly known in the russian way.
I mean we have some f-uped stuff in germany too that could make awesome killers.

Every hype isn't an indicator on player numbers. We only see Steam chart, we don't see windows store, Epic games (which probably brought many people to the game) we don't see XBox, PS, Switch and what ever i forgot.
-
MMR is good, the way it's implemented is bad
-
If the game would be equally fair in these points, it would be less of a problem.
Dead hard shouldn't be able to be used to "avoid a hit" and here i mean that you can stand in the killer, dead hard into a wall, and as long as you dead hard, you are safe.
I had the biggest problem to grab people from gens or windows, and even if the tooltip "just a tap of the attack works, dummy" comes up 5000 times, in the end it doesn't work as it should.
The Game itself always will have flaws, and dead hard isn't one of them directly, it is how the game works around the dynamic.
I see a content creator with 5000h saying "oh the game doesn't have a problem" or "just run these perks" while i still haven't unlocked half of the perks i would need to even be able to build it that way. Of course, you don't know all these fancy perks if you played the game for so long that you can play without any perks and still play.
But you can't say "ay i know people who know how to draw, just do as they do, pffft"
All these funny perk combinations where you are like "Oh that seems so fun, let's try" and then realize "oh, i need 1000h to even be able to play it, is insane and purely bad game design.
The tiles and how the maps are built are just a part of this whole problem too. Not every killer or perk needs to be viable on every map. That would be impossible. You always will have a certain "meta".
As a survivor you don't need to "perform" to be useful in every game, as a killer you can have the easiest games too, especially when you are as bad as i am :D (probably low MMR idk, there are no indicators)
I wish, that they come up with a solution because i think they have a plan, they just can't see the whole picture, and other problems like 7 platforms the game is released on, is just one of them. The "we finally make Beta-functions available to see how they will do" is the right step, and that what the PBE should be there for. i hope for more of such improvements in the future.

When is Claudette getting removed?
"I play Claudette because I'm so bad at the game I die all the time, so I live my racist fantasy through passively killing a person of color"
As Stupid as this sounds: The points "I just get targeted because I'm black" or "I get targeted for ___". The whole "people who have the LBGTQ+ charm get targeted or Bill-player gets targeted etc.
I have to admit:
I can't speak for people of color as I'm a white cis-man. But my partner is black, and we had discussions like this a lot where the question is if people act upon racism or just because they are mean people. I was called slurs in games (from VR-chat to DBD to Minecraft) and most people just use certain slurs because they are so "edgy".
When I say "god damn my keyboard is being retarted again" I don't attack people with disabilities. It almost reminds me of the discussion where people said "Karen is as bad as the N-word" while they can say "Karen" but not the "n-word".
The same is that it doesn't mean just because someone is a POC or plays a POC in a game is a victim of racism. This whole topic is somewhat far stretched. I don't say this problem doesn't exist, i just say that not every argument is as valid as it seems in the first place. Like a bubba that hits people on-hook or tunnels? Isn't every 2nd post here: "nerf tunneling and camping" how many people are POC and how many killers know that they are? And here we only have a small sample of the 55.000+ players daily
-
The killer is played by a player and he "portrays" this character with his actions, but if you kill only woman-survivor in the game or every black Survivor isn't the problem with the killer itself.
bubba is a psychopath who uses the faces of his victims for reasons that are WAY beyond "racist" or and hate against anyone.
Or do we say "yo you play killer, you gonna kill someone irl?"
I wish we could have an actually interesting character without canceling everything.
i would LOVE to have more of these interactions. Getting a certain charm of a killer when you blind them 50 times or w/e.

Since the release of Tech-wear and Neon clothes and Edgy skins, it feels "isolated" from the game.
The whole "we need to have skins for everyone" reminds me of this meme with battlefield or COD where they added the tag-line "most realistic shooter" and then had Fortnite skins.
I know, DBD isn't realistic or isn't even trying to be (just look at the Mori's (and I know they tone the brutality down for reasons)) but a certain "feel" or "aesthetic" to a game are super important.
When I see modded games like Half-Life 2 and they added Bikini models or "sexy", "cool" stuff it just doesn't fit.
I think it was very dominant with the trickster chapter, where it had this whole K-pop neon scenery. And again, I know why they did it... it just feels "wrong".
Graphic wise the game is OK-ish. If you had some neater Textures, maybe more scenic lighting (the old carnival comes to mind) it already would look better.
The best-looking map is the RPD, and that's because it's basically "ripped" from another game that had the whole intention of it being scenic. Most maps have a cool-looking main building and the rest is "eh" at best.

Start recording your games if you can. Then actually check how long they took. It helped me to let go of chases quicker and focus more on pressure. Even though i'm low MMR, it still makes a difference on my main killer where i see a difference in playstyle to gen speeds

Does it really hurt that we actually have a handful of achievements that take some effort?
Do they ALL have to be participation ribbons?
mhh That's not my point.
I like that achievement actually need some skill, my question is just why it isn't equally fair. To get a 4k isn't always possible. And there's a reason why Adept isn't played much on the killer side.
luckily I'm not even close to high MMR, but it still is weird how a 4K isn't a "win". Especially if it's a killer like Nurse, that needs the skill to be even useful. And with every try, my MMR will rise, which means it gets harder and harder

Bring a rainbow map too. For the memes

I literally have to give them multiple chances for the archievment and risk to lose or not get it, when i only get 3k.
On survivor it's so much easier, i did like 6 in one hour

Picked up the game on Epic when it was free and bought Trickster and Legion's DLCs because I like the way the look.
Having a blast as Trickster. Low queue times as a Killer mean I get plenty of practice with the ol' Barrage o' knives, but I've picked up a pattern in my gameplay.
I get a hook in, and immediately amble off to restock my knives, and by the time I turn around, my victim is being let off the hook and it's time to get my murder on again. They're practically right in front of me.
So, naturally. I give chase. If I have to make a choice, I'm going for the one that just got rescued from the hook because I know three hooks is an auto kill, but usually the easiest target gets run down and I walk them back to where they be... er... I mean, the hook..
This tends to repeat several times per match. Hook. Scan the area. Restock. Run down the poor survivor that decided to go for an unhook fiteen meters away from me. Often I'll get a smack in while they're in mid unhook animation.
Now, from my PoV, I'm just doing gameplay as intended. I'm not going to camp because every second I stare at my victim is another second survivors work on gens unperturbed, and neither me nor the Entity want that.
But survivors crucially *can't see* my PoV and I am forced to wonder if they think I'm just going tunnel vision on them or camping on the hook.
I mean, sometimes I *do* camp on the hook, but always for meta reasons, like all the gens are powered and if I can just secure this kill, you get to run off scot-free (curiously, Survivors never seem to take this offer.) Or I need one sacrifice to round out an Archive challenge.
Am Indo8ng something wrong here? How do I communicate "seriously, ya'all, I'm right here, unhooking your friend can wait until another couple of seconds have passed and I'm gone?"
You play ALL wrong, you are only allowed to hit them once. Then you have to let them heal fully. If they are downed, you are not allowed to pick them up, except they can get a pallet/flashlight save.
Also, if you need to hook for some weird reason, you have to let them unhook and are not allowed to be in 32m proximity. If you have NOED you have to show them where it is, boons are not allowed to be snuffed.
If they make a mistake you also have to give them a second chance.
And ewww trickster so op, how dare you not playing a killer with counterplay. GG EZ! Baby killer.

Im a new player. So far Im really enjoying the game, winning 1/3 is a good enough ratio for me to start. The only negative expierence I have is that Im getting spammed with Wraith killers.
In theory they should be balanced because they cant attack while cloaked, have to ring the bell in order to attack.
Thats what I thought atleast until I read they gain burst movement speed after they lose stealth. Whats the point of the bell then if youre gonna compensate it? Im sure survivors are op in premades, but boy does Wraith seem OP in solo que. Why else would he be spammed like crazy?
Anyways, I hope to atleast get some tips on how to play vs him.
I also read there are like 20 ranks, why am I rank 3 after only couple of games?
The game is free on the Epic game store, the Wraith is the best beginner-killer as he is super easy to understand. So most people start with him, and that's why you will see him a lot
