Well, Mending isn’t the most engaging of slowdown features. And Killer Instinct isn’t the best described mechanic in the game (given there is no indication at all to Survivors that they’re being tracked by it).
But otherwise yes.
Wait. Survivors don't know I get Killer Instinct on them?
Is this why they keep trying to hide in lockers while I'm Frenzying?
-
I tend to take an "information is ammunition" approach to my loadout and trust my instincts about when to double back or break a chase. Learn when and how hard to let a survivor lure you. Cut your teeth on perkless ranged killers. Relax. Just enjoy the game and learn to enjoy losing
-
Have you considered, for a moment, that this means the matchmaking system is working as intended and you belong in silver 4?

?what? surely you dont believe that
Oh, I didn't say it's not useful. Normally, if a pallet drops, I either have to break it right away or get have to run the same loop again where the survivor vaults it, this time, and hope I'm close enough to get a vault hit/grab in there, instead of safely bouncing off the pallet.
It's incredibly useful that I can remotely shut that down with an invite without getting stuck in a lengthy pallet-smashing animation and getting an eyeful of flashlight for my trouble. It's definitely more useful than party pallets (which break themselves automagically, and thus are useless if they miss the stun) and window blockers (since most killers just walk around the wall, anyway).
But Killers still have to run around the loop and win the chase. It's not auto-victory.
-
Destroying a pallet with an invite is on a significant cooldown and takes about the same amount of time as doing it myself.
It really just shuts down flashlights in my eyes while I'm doing it and lets me walk around it while also not turning it into a vault loop.

The game really doesn't feel like much has changed meta wise.
Killers running the same degen perks while tunneling down 1 individual (yes yes, its a strat. I get it. you can calm down now)
Survivors running gen rushing perks without really caring about hooked survivors.
Flashlights shining the whole killers face but no stun
What has been going on for the last 6 months of this game? Or am I missing something that clearly isnt in my elo?
Hrm... I played Knight for the first time this morning, kicked a lot of gens with my summons and ran Lightborn because I saw two flashlights in the lobby.
I wouldn't call what I did "camping" so much as "getting into and winning chases because Survivors kept following me to the hooks when I hung their friends up"
Are you sure you're not making rookie mistakes like flashlighting someone with lightborn and expecting me to paitently walk off the map every time I hook someone?

The issue with that is that not all monsters in those games are… monsters. I thought the whole point of WoD was exploring humanity through these supernatural beings. Of course, many of the killers in this game were twisted into what they are, but idk…
Vampire the Masquerade is probably harder to work in as a Killer; the point is that they are, indeed, struggling to hold in their Humanity, but... *A Monster I am, Lest and Monster I Become* is a thing. It's just the game line which has the most name brand recognition.
Werewolf: the Apocalypse seems a stronger pick, since the Garou are basically Gaia-blessed warriors who believe they have a holy (and ultimately futile) mission to thwart the eponymous Apocolypse. There's even tribes that have "fallen" so far that they believe the best possible way to do this is forsaking their humanity and wiping out the humans.
Power could be the ability to shift between Hominid and Lupine form, each with benefits (maybe Lupine is better in a chase, but Hominid is better for stalking/tracking), and then shift to a Crinos war-form after several hits in quick succession (think Trickster's "ult" charge) which induces something like Delerium (inverted controls?) and takes the best of both Hominid and Lupine form.

Vampire: The Masquerade
Lots of different types of Kindred for Killers to look at/into. I don't know if it would make sense for The Entity to pull in, like, Cain, but it's not a stretch to have BHVR write an antidiluvian showing up the in the Realm. Or maybe, like, something fourth or fifth gen if even those are too powerful.
I'm immediately thinking of something like an older Gangrel that has an enhanced Spies from the Shadows or the power to *turn into* a crow on the map and hide/reduce their terror radius
Come to think of it, pretty much anything World of Darkness works. Kind of surprised there isn't already a Garou-style Killer.

I looped the killer for 3 gens and did 1 gen by myself, healed and unhooked teammates and took hits at gate, I did get taken by the killer after accidentally getting bodyblocked by a teammate at the exit gate and he just watched me die and nodded at me like I did something wrong. I got the least score out of everyone too when I did all that. My teammates looped the killer for a bit and did one gens but I thought I'd at least get a pip or get some score or bp. Bhv may as well have punched me and told me to get good. I don't even know if I wanna play again
If the Killer isn't picking you up when you're downed at the exit gate they're giving you a crawling escape.
-
I came back, like, a day before the seventh anniversary after a break of at least two years.
As a Killer player, I had no idea hook grabs were in the game until I accidentally pulled off several.
Thank goodness they're gone. Now you can get your buddy off the hook, like I want.
-
Look, I know I need to play survivor more, but at this point, I am begging survivor mains to play Killer more.
We're already incentivized to spread our hooks out. Not only is it worth more XP, but it gives us better emblems. And there's perks that give you a stack the *first* time you hook a survivor (I run No Way Out, but I primarily play Trickster so far and I got the game on Epic Free Week) and nothing on subsequent hooks.
It's not like Killers have a UI element telling us where unhooked survivors are. If one person has gone unchased for most of the match, chances are we just *haven't found them*. If you get downed fresh off the hook whilst you were being healed, I wasn't aiming at you, specifically I was aiming roughly at the mass of targets. Sorry you got hit.
I've left survivors to "bleed out" on two occasions -- both times, I just couldn't find where they crawled to in order to put them on the hook. I don't get points for it, and I can't use your unhooking noise ping to tell me where survivors are. I just chase the target that I find.
-
Sometimes, reading these, I get the feeling that some survivors are claiming any Killer that does not perfectly evenly spread out the hooks is "tunneling".
Like they feel a killer should elect to not give Chase because they've hooked you twice and the others once or never. Doesn't matter that you're the one that failed the skill check to tell the killer where you are and then continued to sit on the generator by yourself.
I'm not targeting you. You're just the one I found first.

Same could be asked for killers who leave everyone slugged on the ground to bleed out
Its simple, they wanna be a dick
Look, I wanted to pick them up and hook them, but I couldn't find them again, okay? It's Deep Wounds' fault, not mine!
-
Killer can open a gate or close the hatch to force endgame.
Closing the hatch also auto-fixes all the generators.
-
I've made that hit on a survivor fast vaulting a window a few times. It's mostly just being close enough to land the blow before they vault.

How about not tunneling?
See, here's the thing:
As far as I've gathered, "Tunneling" is community slang for "getting tunnel vision for one particular survivor"? It's a kind of mild griefing where I'm aiming for this one survivor out of all survivors to specifically down, hook, and sac. I'm... not doing that. All the survivors are approximately the same little bags of XP to me.
If I do have to make a choice and I can spot a difference between targets in the .01 seconds I have to make that choice, I will prioritize...
1) An injured survivor
2) A survivor I recognize as having hooked before (IE: "Hey, I've hooked that bright red sweater before!")
3) A survivor holding a flashlight
In that approximate order. It's not about hating one particular survivor, it's about making the choice I feel is going to net me the most kills.
a) Injured survivors get go down quicker, meaning I can hook and return to pressuring the rest of them more quickly.
b) Survivors I've already hooked means more XP for me (With the "entity summoned" proc), less time you get to struggle on the hook, and a higher chance I get that delicious "sacrifice made".
c) Removing a flashlight from Opposing team's field means they can't use that flashlight to blind me and hinder me from going after everyone else
Again, it's not about hating a particular survivor, it's about hitting the smartest target. I've also found that if I chase a survivor off a generator and lose them, I just need to wait a moment and return to that exact same generator to try the chase again. Even then it's less about a laser focus on one target and more about how *I know the target is going to be there*. I played my third-ever game as Legion this morning and netted me a sweet little TPK by just picking targets correctly.
Now, if this is "Tunneling" and what survivors are calling toxic, might I recommend something that I know will get me to focus someone else?
Be a more tempting target.
When I played MechWarrior, we would call this "Rabbiting". Where one person runs up, presents a nice, juicy target away from the main line, and books it once its gathered the attention of enemy forces and leads them on a merry chase from the main battle line ("Chase the rabbit," in the vernacular). In MechWarrior, it takes guns off the main battle line and splits the opposing forces. In this game, well, I can't hook any of you if you keep peeling me off of the one target I'm trying to down.
And, again, here's the thing: I've let myself get distracted. I bolted for a survivor doing quick vaults on the other side of the map which freed another survivor in for a hook. I've danced with a survivor, knives out, across a wall so that my attention was tied up until someone else came up from behind for the unhook. (I even caught this happening in the moment, too, which turned into a genuinely fun game of "where do I want to look to fend them off/how do I break this stalemate"?)
I got focused on trying to bait a survivor into dropping a pallet so I could break a loop so much that the Survivor team gained a couple generators on me.
-
Look, I did a match where I didn't throw a single knife and got a TPK. I don't know how else I'm supposed to get blood points *and* give survivors a chance.
Using my power is letting them have counterplay at this MMR.
-
Or, I hit them, eat the one second hitstun, and they get to rabbit for 20 seconds and lose up to 22 seconds of future protection.
-
I know Decisive Strike is the one where they get a free wiggle out. That's fun counterplay! It means I get another chase! Borrowed Time is the one where they glow white for a moment instead of hugging the ground?
I was under the impression that it could only proc once per saviour per match? It doesn't really seem that strong, because I throw out a wild swing and now that perk is useless for the low-low cost of some hit cooldown.
-
One survivor ar 2/3 hooks is worth more XP to me than two survivors at 1/3 hooks and often they're a quicker Chase because they're still Injured and I now have a fresh stock of knives.
Going after the rescuer by choice is a bad decision for me in every sense of the word.
-
1.) Flashlights have a battery life that is measured in seconds. They're not infinite-use. You can still move and act when you're flashlight-blinded -- it's not a stun. Just break the pallet they've trapped you behind or spam out a blind swing. It's not like you care about the missed-hit stun when you can't see anything, anyway. Take the off-chance at n objective.
(I'm playing a lot of Trickster, my go-to is to spam out knives when I'm blinded. Worst-case scenario it lets me direct where the chase is going for the next few meters.)
2.) If they're body-blocking the hook; hit them. If you have Starstruck, this immediately turns into a free down for you. If you don't, then you get the XP for hitting them in the face and nudge them a bit. And they're not even far for the immediate follow-up Chase.
3.) Just take the free XP and chase them out. If they're in a situation where they're pulling this off, then they've effectively won, anyway. I've taken to getting my smack in and then stepping away so they can walk out of the map. The only real counter-troll is to slowly roam around the map and shatter doors/pallets. Or AFK and stretch or grab some water/a snack. (If you're running No One Escapes Death, there's even the possibility that turns into a free down for you, too.

Hello ,
Just wanted to know how you people are feeling lately , i have been playing for a month now.
Already noticed ranks doesn't mean anything in this game but lately my opponents are either complete newcomers / bots or just complete toxic people.
Harrasing me with 3 people as the killer , i thought it was the other way around to be fair.
The game went temporarily free on Epic on Thursday, Dec 2nd. You made this post on Sunday, December 5th.
It's absolutely new people. (I'm one of the new people, Hi!) people are still learning the game or picking up the FOOS and aren't aware of the several-years old games' organically grown non-verbal communication and manners.
-
Look, I got the game when it started going free on Epic, like, three days ago. Honestly, just chase them, get your 300 blood points for the free weapon hit, and call it a match. Maybe nab XP for a hatchet/knife/harpoon instead if you're chasing down a ritual or an Archive challenge or something. Or even just practice with that good ol' aim.
Heck, there's an Endgame timer, so get up and stretch, get some water, or grab a sandwich if it really bothers you.
