I need some help - Learning Killer

So i have around 600ish hours on the game. Id say around 500-550 are on survivor and the minority is on killer. I'm not too sure if its a ME issue or not but im inexperienced so im going to say im just not good enough yet.

Whenever I play killer without 2-3+ gen regression perks i just get genrushed and lose so fast on the vast VAST majority of characters i play. The only character i can get away with not running gen regression perks on is nurse because chases are so short. I really dont know what im doing wrong, I know theres much do be learn with my specific killer mechanics but even on mechanically non-intensive killers like wraith i struggle to get enough hooks to 3-4k without spamming eruption/deadlock/jolt/pain res every game.

I genuinely wouldnt mind if gen regression perks were fun or satisfying to use, but i find them so incredibly boring. I wanna do fun stuff like oblivious builds, full hex builds, aura builds but i cant without either abusing nurse or using boring gen perks to make it impossible for gens to pop which isnt fun for me or the survivors.

Im also new to the forums so if theres some kind of way i can upload my gameplay and get tips that would be cool.

Any advice is welcome

  • If you just want to practice your chases on an M1 Killer, you can run Devour, Undying, No One and Aura reading/Gen blocker/Regression.

If you get multiple downs early, you are rewarded with instant down or perhaps even mori if Survivors don’t find your totems in time. If your totems get cleansed before you get value, No One gives you a final power spike at the end of the game.

Wraith is a decent beginner Killer to use because his addons have the potential for different builds, Speed Wraith, Fast Uncloak, Fast Pallet breaks, Sloppy etc

Watch people play Killers such as Streamers. You may pick up some things that you can incorporate into your playstyle. Tunnel or camp if you find it fitting, STBFL helps with that. Most importantly, don’t let others tell you how you should be playing if you enjoy what you are doing and are getting results with it.

  • I tend to take an "information is ammunition" approach to my loadout and trust my instincts about when to double back or break a chase. Learn when and how hard to let a survivor lure you. Cut your teeth on perkless ranged killers. Relax. Just enjoy the game and learn to enjoy losing

  • You said yourself that you try to play without any gen regression or gen block while learning to play as killer. This is the source of the problem.

Survivors won't ''go easy'' on you and usually will try to hop on the nearest gen if you don't chase them or chase someone else. Without perks like Dead Lock, Corrupt Intervention or gen regression tools like Pain Resonance, Jolt, Pop goes the weasel, you will be getting gen rushed 90% of time by people who don't waste time.

This is hardly your fault that you struggle since this meta forces you to catch survivors asap. If you can't do that, expect getting 2 or 3 hooks before all generators are done. Stuff like Sloppy Butcher and Hex totems can slow survivors down, but they don't guarantee you the win and are very unreliable ( particularly Hex Totems in general ) but can still at least buy you extra time, provided you have a killer that has means of traveling ( mobility ) or good anti-loop for fast chases.

  • Without seeing, the best we can say is keep practicing with what you want to run and become great with that instead of relying heavy on regression. Accept your going to lose for awhile and focus on improving.

Killer requires knowledge that comes from practice. Learn when to drop chase, when you can afford to keep going, when to switch target, etc but that's generalized advice. Sorry if we're not very helpful.

  • play any B tier and up and get good with them try wesker. any killer below B tier and you will get destroyed all day everyday
