I'm a casual Solo survivor and though camping and tunneling was bad before, it's horrendous now. I log in to play a match, watch a Killer not even let a survivor 2 steps from the hook only to down them and rehook them and I log out.
What's the point? Is that even playing the game anymore?
My partner was sick of it so tried playing Killer. He has scarcely played it before, but had a bunch of BPs so leveled up the perks somewhat (no great perk selection, just original Killer perks on Spirit and a few purchased from the Shrine). And he faced survivors who were so obviously above his skill level it was ridiculous. I told him; "Hurrrrrr well apparently SBMM will adjust?".
6 games later and it was the same. A lot of the survivors were obvious 3-4 man SWF's. So I told him to equip Lightborn,NOED, and "start proxy camping and tunneling".
BHVR has got to look at stuff like this. Camping and tunneling make the game miserable for Solo survivors. Yet the existence of SWF's, smurfing, and an overall tolerance to bad manners towards Killers by these teams who think they're hot sh*t exacerbate it.
I feel bad for your friend since sbmm places you against higher levels while it "adjusts"....you need to get stomped to play later.
Can you imagine any other business that treated its paying customers that way? You have to suffer before you can use our service?
Bhvr is going to take their time collecting data and then maybe fixing something.🤔

Tunnel to win if you want, it’s an effective strategy but eventually all you’ll go against is sweaty 4 man SWF’s and then come to complain on the forum that the SBMM put you in your place.
Me? I just play chill, get my 4 BBQ stacks and see what happens, or I would if killer queues didn’t take 5+ minutes.
When that happens I will switch to another killer until I cant and then play survivor until i cant and then leave the game until the grade reset and start again (unless I get bored...plenty of multiplayer games out there not to mention gamepass🤣)

When bhvr made the game they could not have predicted the end game play style. They assumed survivors would actually try to hide from the killer. However survivors learned it's perfectly safe to run to a gen and immediately start working. If the killer shows up you can get to a jungle gym before he gets to you. If you play the game the way they intended it's balanced but if you want to play to win, it's broken.
That is one thing the Friday the 13th game had correct...if you were not prepared for Jason you were dead...you learned to fear the killer.
You had to gather resources and work as a team to keep each other alive because 1 vs 1 you would not survive most of the time.

How many Threads do you want to open exactly? Like, we got that you dont like SBMM, this could have been done in one Thread, not in 10+ Threads.
Let alone that tunneling always was the easiest way to win a game for Killers.
Thanks for the support...nothing I post has been a lie🤔.
And that is false in the sbmm survey post I distinctly said I like sbmm as a survivor but if you want to twist my words to fit your narrative go ahead.🤘
My case is tunneling is more prevalent (rightly so) to compete at higher sbmm and will continue to be.

The reality of SBMM means that i'm playing against top tier survivors. If BHVR wants me to play against top tier survivors, i'm going to play like they do in tournaments. I'm going to tunnel, camp, use NOED and otherwise play scummy. The reality is, if i don't play like that, i don't stand a chance.
Only about 3 or 4 killers can put up a fight without playing like that at high sbmm...that is a bhvr not fixing the core issues not the players fault.

Less by a mile. If I play any killer besides Nurse (as she's the only top tier killer I still readily play) it's just not that fun. I do not believe BHVR one bit when they said mmr is unique to each killer you have. I played twins for the first time ever last night, went against some of the best survivors I've actually ever seen, some of whom I've played against with my actual main killers before.
If I'm going against the same survivors that I do with my Nurse, with her bazillion hours and my insane win streaks with her, as I do with my Twins, who wasn't even maxed in the bloodweb running a horrible build, there's a problem with your mmr system.
Yeah I played trickster yesterday only played him a handful of matches to get his adept and was getting stomped match after match...nice to see playing more than 5 matches with trickster makes me a master 🙄
-
@ThiccBudhha said:
I am playing less, but it has nothing to do with mmr. I just fell down a rabbit hole jumping from movie to movie. I barely watch movies nowadays, but after Malignant, I have been obsessive. No time to play past my daily missions.
So any movies to reccomend 😁 helps to watch something while I wait for the killer lobby to fill up

I'm playing less, my killer queues are horrible, 10+ per match? Screw that, survivor I get camped every match because skill.
10 minutes? You are lucky some people have said close to half and hour to an hour if it isnt the evening hours and even in the evening it is getting bad

if i dont get soon better survivors or a better killer i will definetely quit survivor, its not fun playing everygame against a killer who just started the game and that after 50+ escapes.
I think it's because more killers switched to survivors or are getting crazy wait times and new killers are filling in the gap😯

I would say a more, split between dbd and tales of arise for now though. Maybe I would be playing a lot more if not for that.
I used to play for an hour or 2 here and there but I must be putting in 6-8 hours per day since the day following sbmm going live. I will burn out at some point though.
I have insomnia too, which has been playing up lately so doing 20-30 hours awake each time. This is why my playtime is still quite high even though I am splitting between two games.
You need to pace yourself...burnout is real. Luckily the only burnout I feel is when I try to finish games that are leaving gamepass in the time limit🤣.
The dbd sbmm system does help with that in making the choice easier in what deserves my time(lobby simulator vs playing a game🤔)
-
@GoodBoyKaru said:
No. Survivor games have not improved, at all, and all that's happened is instead of insta killer queues it now takes upwards of an hour to find one for my main killer, Pyramid Head, at previous peak times.
How is your search time with other killers?
I feel your pain and I thought waiting 15 minutes plus for a wraith match was bad.
When I switched to hag it was about a 5 minute wait.

I play/stream 6-7 hours each day. I do 5 streams of DBD and then play something different once a week - and take off one day (Sundays generally) from streaming/playing.
Wow just dont burn out please🙂

it's pretty aggressive at first. mine has started to settle, but occasionally i'll have a game where i verse the equivalent of esport vets lmao
Think I will play cod then😎...helps with the grind that dbd has become (both BP and sbmm).

As Ive told you in another thread. I stream. So I play regardless. I really haven't noticed too big of a change since SBMM. The testing weekend was ######### brutal. But it's been business as usual.
You adapted which is good😎...I wonder how many people adapted and kept playing (sticking to killer or switching to survivor) or just ledr🤔

@Jasix said:
I play the same amount - 5 days a week - 2 as survivor, 2 as killer and 1 day of mixed gameplay.
How many hours?🙂

I play my usual 3 games a day.
I am getting the feeling i'll never see iri 1 again.
Not unless i only play one role and either start playing more or getting double pips in all my games.
I am curious how many people can monthly reach iri 1 on both roles. Seems like a insane amount of time to do that
Getting to iridescent with the new system is not worth the hassle with the pitiful rewards at the end🤣
-
@[Deleted User] said:
I play it about as much as before. I switch between games and do other things of course, mostly PUBG and Cold War these days (COD: Cold War also has SBMM btw). I'll play Dead by Daylight for a few hours, not more than that typically unless there is a new Rift or something for me to work for.
Yeah I am almost done with the rift and playing lobby simulator is not fun🤣.
How is the sbmm on cod? Might switch over 🙂

@Damarus said:
To be honest, the only killer that needs a big nerf is the Spirit. The other two aren't unfair. I mean, a Nurse has the potential to dominate you, but you can still waste some of her time with EVIDENT counterplay and it doesn't feel unfair, because people know that Nurse takes quite a big chunk of skill. Whereas Spirit doesn't. Blight, on the other hand, is fun to play and to verse. Sure, he can still dominate you, but all it takes is a change of direction and stepping to the side, most of the time.
When you mind game a blight and nurse those are the best moments😂. With spirit I feel I just guessed right and ran🤣

Survivors need to earn more BP I agree. But Im not gonna pretend that killers are fine BP wise even if they earn more than survivors.
Also 6 million extra BP for someone who gets rank 1 on every killer every month sound reasonable since that person would have to play 14h a day to get it on every killer.
And if anyone would ever got it, that person dont need BP anymore in the first place.
FYI I dont think each killer should have separate rank rewards, just hating on BP system here
But imagine the flaunting of making it to the top with each killer...the bps are well deserved.
Each individual killer needs plenty of BP for perks and addons while survivors are fine with just choosing their favorite skin to max out.

Compared to Survivor, Killers get A LOT more. Like 30%-50% more at base and they have the better BP-Multiplier.
And then they should get up to 6.250.000 BPs more each month?
Once again killers have to work harder for their points...as a survivor if you dont interact for chases or altruism good luck getting any decent amount of bp

@ad19970 said:
Smaller maps, a second objective and Corrupt and Whispers in base kit? 2 hour killer queue times would probably happen. Even with the buff to solo survivors.
Small maps will arguably be killer sided if there was ever a second objective in this game. Tunneling and camping would be op and absolutely insufferable. Nurse, Spirit and Blight would probably be op. And there are more problems that would arise as well.
I meant either smaller maps or a second objective or corrupt and whispers as basekit for killers (as well as borrowed time and kindred for survivors).😁

@[Deleted User] said:
I'd love this personally & i'd certainly push to get them all as high as possible it would also be fun to see which killers I truly achieve with & which ones never really make the grade quite litterally.
I'm actually confident my trapper would make iridescent 1 every month some others on the other hand 🙄
That is what I am saying you are putting the time and effort with each individual killer.
-
Or you can play killer I suggest nurse😎
-
@Babawizwiz said:
Rewards should not be BP, i would simply be happy with a killer ranking and maybe a skin if you've reached a high ranking with said killer. This validates SBMM as we now have the incentive to sweat in high mmr
A just survived getting iridescent with trapper see he doesn't need buffs I am done with this game skin🤣
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
Killers already get more than enough BPs.
Yeah but they have to work for them that is why survivors usually get less🤔

Right now a wraith player with talent that is true is pushing his sbmm aa high as possible and it is fun to watch 🤑

1) Remove Keys, maybe the whole hatch mechanic.
2) Less Pallets.
3) Nerf the top 6 Survivor perks
If they all got nerfed at the same time there would be an uproar...they would have to nerf a perk or two and collect the data to see if it is still fair🤔
Less pallets on larger maps would be nice.
Hatch just needs to be changed to only 1 survivor remaining or only appears after 5 gens are completed.

@HollowsGrief said:
I mean about the end of the day this is all the fault of the game's balance. Survivors want decent teammates and killers want a fair chance to win. Problem is that a decent group of survivors can make even an extremely good killer sweat and struggle. At efficient play the game is wildly unbalanced and MMR just brings how unbalanced the get truly is into focus, which is probably a good thing.
It all depends if they actually do something with this "new" data (when numerous videos show the balance issues with the game) or just watch the fanbase possibly leave🤔

Hag is certainly top tier, but one of her strengths is survivors not knowing how to play against her. At high levels you'll see survivors actively harass you from setting up a web and they'll be able to trigger traps right at the edge and immediately 180 out of there.
Luckily I haven't hit this sbmm ceiling yet but i am sure I will...and move on to the next killer🤣
-
@Squirrel_Thicc said:
YES! Let's severely punish people for playing with their friends instead of just buffing solo queue and killer.
I totally wanna actively be at a disadvantage for trying to enjoy playing a video game with friends. What an amazing idea.
Thanks 😎 I call it Vince Russo booking.
Its quicker than having them sit on this data for who knows how long, realizing high sbmm killers and survivors get tired with the sweatfests, panic buff solos (in a couple of years),look at the data again MAYBE make map sizes smaller, look at the data and see gens get done quickly, panic buff killers (🤣🤣🤣🤣), survivors complain, killers get nerfed(poor lower tiers), killers complain, second objective finally added etc.
Or people leave earlier because of a good game back 4 blood,the new evil dead game, VHS game or something with better sbmm🤑

Problem....anything you do to buff solo survivor gameplay inadvertently buffs SWF even higher....You can't win by treating them the same way because they're in the same queue system.
Also....you guys gotta get over the "We gotta treat Solo and SWF the same!" That literally does not happen in any other game that has queues. If you play league of legends ranked solo...you are not even CLOSE to the same matchups that you would get if you group queue. And they run them separate for that reason.
It's like they are afraid to break up the player base for the good of the game.
Wasn't that the whole point of the play with friends mode?
-
@illusion said:

I didn't say it would make "more work" for them, I said "unnecessary work". Making changes that wouldn't improve the game would be a waste of time, just like them making changes to fix things that aren't broken, or making changes to address the symptoms rather than the actual problems.
Using that logic they should be 100 percent fixing the base code and optimization since it is necessary to improve the game right?
Look at what they are doing though sbmm, cosmetics, adding more chapters, etc. all unnecessary when there are still bugs galore (some which haven't been touched in numerous patches).

if this company nerfs blight, that's when you know it's dying. there's no reason to nerf blight from a game designer perspecive other than to appease noobie survivors, because blight is like the new version of old hillbilly who was the perfect designed killer. and that's not just my opinion, lots of players back in the day supported this notion.
Yeah blight just curves smoother than Billy and you can reposition easier for the trick shot.
Still a baby blight but I am learning quick😎

Yup. Really hard to keep interest when it's like that. Not gonna drop whatever better game i'm playing to play DBD for a month and a half before it gets completely broken again.
Yeah the breaks before people return seem to be longer and longer...wonder how long those newer resident evil and hellraiser players are going to stick around?
Guess it doesn't matter whatever new license they can get will bring in more people while the code keeps getting piled on🤣

Sound like good changes for Trapper.
And yes, I am hopeful that SBMM will get BHVR to buff the lower tier killers. Though I am not sure if I agree that only three killers are viable at high MMR.
Which other ones would you consider higher tier? I would argue hag just because she focuses on her web and 3 genning if the game goes bad 🤔

Yep. I've seen so much of the tunneling, the camping, the proxying since SBMM as been active. I've even been seeing Pinheads do it! My whole solo team got face camped to death. Poor Pinhead. Falling victim to the host of campers.
I have faced a lot of camping pinheads now that you mention it...I mean 7 out of 10 matches seem to be pinhead at low to average sbmm grades.
In fairness, 2 ro 3 gens usually fly by the time they get that first down...I just grab the lament configuration and play loop de loop🤣
-
@ThiccBudhha said:
Eh, I just prefer downsizing the maps a bit, way easier and accounts for the imbalance better than random swf deterrents ever could. Or at least let the killer select the map for a 50% chance and the survivors can all have a 10% vote. 10% obviously remaining random. Then we can keep giant maps.
Would free up the bloodweb from map offerings and stop preplanning of perks for home field advantage on both sides🤔

@Mringasa said:
The only thing I would say is have Kindred as a basekit for all Survivors, that way solo queue doesn't have to waste a slot for it.
As it is now, they nerfed it when they made Cloaked Killers' auras unseeable with Kindred. It lost a lot of its effectiveness, and I don't run it anywhere near as often as I did. I do think this was the right call though, it just nerfed a Perk that was a huge part of solo queue meta. I used to see it on at least 1 other person, normally 2 others, in my matches. Now I rarely ever see it. Having its current iteration be basekit though would be a solid boost to solo queue, and basically just acceptance of the fact SWF can share information without the need of a Perk.
Once that's done, give it a bit of time and check the data. THEN buff Killers, because they will definitely need it. Not huge buffs or anything, but tweaks and performance adjustments that will give them an edge. Reducing hook counts, adding gens, giving extra Perk slots, anything along these lines will throw the game balance off too much. Small tweaks to Powers, adjust multiple little things, and see how it works out. You would be surprised how just tweaking a few numbers can really improve performance on a number of Killers.
Even without data it is obvious some killers need those slight buffs but they aren't happening (all the low mobility killers really)
I agree kindred basekit helps solo and a mini borrowed time stops tunneling and camping in theory.
