Whatsaboutism all up in here! Never change dbd forums.

Let's be as clear as clear can be. If you were validated, you only got the hit on the client side. Client side is not authoritative and you were not cheated out of anything. It's as black and white as that.
-
Here's the thing about skill based match making and nerfs. The MMR that you had very naturally factors in the strength of the killer. When a killer gets nerfed you can find yourself going verses survivors that you can no longer win due to the changes. This has nothing to do with whether the changes were good or bad but a natural side effect. After losing some games you'll be put at a more appropriate MMR.
-
I'm saying this as a Blight main. Once you get to the point where you understand his ability. Blight is very oppressive.
-
@Yords said:
I think it wouldn't do much. It would just make him a little more annoying to play him on tiles where he can't use his power. But he would definitely still be strong.
Also welcome back from isolation.
Blight should have always been a 110 percent speed killer. Blights ability is very strong and it is reasonable to expect a killer power of that strength to be balanced with a speed reduction. On top of that, he would still have map mobility, even with a speed reduction, similar to Nurse.

So another killer has to experience their addons not adding much to their gameplay? That's depressing.
This. Right. Here. The engineer's fang is the only PinHead add-on now that does anything. And that's not even good in my opinion because the Engineer's Fang is like another killer power entirely.
If you want to play PinHead, the add-ons being run don't matter.

They should just make the Fathers Glasses that they removed for no good reason a base kit for spirit.
Spirit is still one of the strongest killers in the game. I think we should just leave her alone for a bit.

No, I'm not someone who just picked her up, I was there before she even existed, I've paid my dues in learning her mechanics..its just her mechanics have been stripped away , and you cannot say this is anything but that
I agree, some of her mechanics have been stripped. But Spirit had too many mechanics in her favor, to the point where you had too much going for you. She still has mechanics to mind game loops and to get hits, but they're just not as free as they were before.
-
Spirit is undoubtedly harder to play now. However, in the areas where she is strong, she is still very strong. I feel that this is a good change. To do well with Spirit you can't just pick her up, you need to know how to play her well and understand her mechanics.
This is how strong killers should be. It should be somewhat difficult to do well with strong killers. But when you understand their kit they should shine. Nurse is this way, Blight is this way, and now Spirit is this way.

Oh I'm sorry I should run Ruin Undying Tinkerer right? Not everyone is a filthy blight main. DISTRESSING IS ACTUALLY GOOD ON DOCTOR and I enjoy it.
You can run whatever you like, but don't be calling for buffs when you're running bad perks.
-
Spirit was my first main, this was back when she was new and I didn't know she was OP. Since Blight's come out I obsessively mained him because he's fun and he has a nice skill curve to him. I was playing PinHead after his release, but I don't like how alot of his power comes from the box. I would honestly just rather they had no box and his chase power was a bit stronger, I did well with him but he leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth.
Since the Spirit nerf I've been playing Spirit a ton. She feels like a different killer entirely. Before her changes I didn't really chase with her, I would use her ability to misdirect, constantly changing targets. Obviously this doesn't work to the same affect that it did before, but she's still the queen of mind games and I've really loved learning how to use her power in chase.

So just got done with a match that saw me get 3 hooks by endgame. And only at endgame because I fought a cheating nancy. Who was just a little to fast and knew every pallet location on the map and always pre dropped and sat at the pallet to gloat like she was actually good at the game when it was pretty obvious she was cheating, cause last time I checked survivors aren't speed demons.
But that leads me into my main point, Doctor is so bad at his job because the meta consists of leaving loops and not looping at all. Like he is not good at anything anymore except punishing the survivors that weren't gonna do gens anyways. He really needs some speed to catch up or something to slow them down.
Doctors base Shock range is 10 FREAKING METERS. And you have to account for slowdown and survivors moving forward so you have to be like 4 meters away from them to hit a base Shock. That's distance to land a shock that doesn't do damage. Think about that I mean Doctor is C Tier for a reason. I don't want game slowdown I want REAL POWER. Like what Nurse has, but not as strong or hard to use.
(LET ME CLARIFY) I do not use Meta on My killers, No Ruin, no corrupt, No None of that. I use BBQ but that's for BP. I use Frickin Distressing and Lightborn on Doctor. I enjoy playing the game and not being enslaved by the meta.
You can't honestly be calling for buffs when you're running distressing. Like I could see arguing that Doctor needs buffs, but saying that you run distressing is not the way,

Mother Daughter ring basekit. You gotta be kidding me. That add-on should be nerfed.
Spirit's doing just fine after the nerf. The only issue that I see is all of her green add-ons are all memes and should never be run. I'd be down with them reducing Mother Daughter to a 30 percent increase in speed and then make all of her greens just a bit better.

hmm, it's almost like they consume exorbitant amounts of energy that is greater than some countries. they contribute more to global warming than some fully developed countries. a majority of the energy they consume for transactions is wasted energy. NFTs are most commonly attributed to art theft. They're used for ponzi schemes. they cam be pyramid schemes. cryptos are used for many illegal purchases.
The list goes on.
Cryptocurrencies also create a form of currency that is not monopolized by governments. NFTs provide a way for artists to be able to create and sell artwork digitally in a way that shows authenticity. You see I agree with you, I do. But these things are not black and white. And I'd personally rather not piss of the license holders of PinHead because you know what would actually suck, it would suck to have more than PinHeads lines removed.

You need to be specific, do you find cryptocurrencies abhorrent or do you find NFTs abhorrent?

Look at this morally upright human being. I bet you play wholesome games and post to wholesome forums and go to wholesome churches.

Clowning, what are you even angry about? I think you and everyone else is just looking for something to get angry over. This is an overblown controversy. But by all means, stop playing DBD, but you won't because like I said, you don't actually give 2 shits. You're the actual robot who's doing what you're told for reasons that you don't even know and as soon as the controversy fades you'll forget it ever even happened.

It's odd to me that NFTs get more hate then the block chain crypto currencies themselves. NFTs impact on the environment is completely tied to the fact that they're riding on the backs of Cryptocurrencies that are very energy wasteful due to how they handle legitimacy.

how is it dumb? Is genrushing not doing gens fast?
It's literally not possible to go fast or slow doing gens. Gens take a certain number of seconds to complete. The time doesn't change for a new player verses an experienced player. If you can't generate pressure, that's on you. It's not like the gens flew because they were master at repairing gens.
-
@Nayru said:

while the state of gens makes high-end killer perks pretty mandatory if playing normally, i don't think it matters if you don't have any perks if you catch someone or god forbid two people out as an instadown killer 'cause you really are well and truly doomed with no exhaustion off hook/bt/ds if they proxy you
You definitely put words together. This sounds like a sentence that would be made through one of those conversational AI bots.
-
If you tunnel off of hook, you're taking this game way too seriously.
And can we please stop it with the "second chance perk" non-sense. Killers get perks, survivors get perks. Believe me, if perks were disabled, killers would be off way worse than survivors.
-
If you're losing games, it doesn't sound to me like you're high MMR. You're just losing to regular survivors.

Nice, congrats on getting double iri last month. I didn't quite manage.
-
Man people on this forum are getting called out.
I agree, as killer you should have a strategy for building pressure. Generator defense perks are the most common. It doesn't need to be generator slow-down. It could be tunneling out a survivor using Pyramid Heads kit, It could be slugging with Oni or Nurse. Killers have a greater than 50 percent win rate. That by definition means that they are winning more games then they're losing when we define a win as getting more than 2k in a match. And the game isn't over when all generators are done, they still have to escape.
When killers have a lower than 50 percent win rate globally killers can start complaining about how they're lives are unfair. Until then you guys are entitled babies. <3 fellow killer main.
-
Nice! now I'm at 1.7 million blood points.
-
Hit validation works like a charm. Just because you hear them get injured client side does not mean that you should land that hit. Now it's possible that Nurse isn't working correctly with hit validation, that may be something that needs looking into.
-
You guys have gone way off topic. The thread is are toolboxes OP? To answer that question, no toolboxes are not very powerful with the exception of brand new parts, which is an expensive item and one time use.

And for some reason, I appear to be in the minority. I've taken to the internet many times, trying to find people who shared my opinion, perhaps find some advice on how to deal with him, but I mostly seem to find people saying he's fun to play against, 'weaker than Clown' and 'piss easy to beat'. In fact, I've even seen people call for multiple buffs.
I don't get it. I really don't. I can't seem to win a single game against this guy and every time I go against him it's a miserable experience. As soon as the chain hunt has begun, aside from the fact that it's very annoying, you can't really do anything anymore. You have to solve the box.
My problem with that is that he can either teleport to you while doing so or be close enough to interrupt you with a regular M2 to down you and trigger a chain hunt on the entire team. When he teleports to me, I never know exactly where he's going to be coming from, which often results in him getting a free hit. This means if I'm already injured, there's no way I'm touching that box.
In the few complaint posts I've found, I've seen people say that all you have to do is hold onto the box and solve it when he's carrying someone or when he's mid chase. Does simply holding the box stop the chains from spawning all the time? If not, what are you supposed to do in the meantime?
As for an example of why I think he's super frustrating to play against, in the game I just played, I finally found his Ruin and started cleansing it. The person carrying the box went down at around the 90% mark and it interrupted my cleanse. I tried cleansing it after that but the constant chains spawning prevented me from doing so and alerted the killer to my position. After a solid thirty seconds of me trying to cleanse that totem, he found and downed me and I let myself die on hook. I typically don't do this but it was my second Pinhead game in a row and I just reached my limit.
I'm really hoping I'm missing something obvious, some trick perhaps, that will make my experience with this killer less miserable. I'm looking for advice. Anything. Please help.
People are waiting too long to solve the cube. You want to solve it when you still have about half of your bar. And I would say don't wait for a time to solve it. If he's running the add-ons to increase the amount of time for you to solve it then he'll be able to teleport if he wants to. Instead it's all about where to solve it. On top of a hill, or across from a window are good places to solve the cube.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/286273/50-win-rate-is-bullshit
Fact is if the killers are having a bad gaming experience, they will play poorly with cheap mechanics. DbD is in a huge vicious circle since SBMM release.
Survivors are so OP that the killer is forced to tunnel and proxy camp to the point that in every trial, a survivor will die with under 10k points.
If killers play fairly, they do 4 to 6 hooks and all 4 survivors are escaping as the map are too big, there are way too many pallets/windows and the gens are flying way too fast. It implies trash play from killers that implies more gen rush etc...
DbD is ultra toxic now and it will get wort and worst as the developers don't know what they are doing at all. 5 years of continual development and they still don't know what is healthy for their game, what are the victory condition and they released a SBMM relying only on kills/escapes.
But it has been like this forever on DbD :
- dedicated server released with 30 tickrates, hitboxes were total garbage -> "we have the best servers of the gaming industry"
- balance has been off for 5 years -> "we did a pretty good job so far"
- SBMM is trash, clunky and not about skill -> "it works perfectly, we are the best"
- changing game engine, horrible performances -> "it's to improve the users experience"
- best killer mains can't win properly a game -> "we are om point balance wise, it's perfect"
...
That'd be boring. The game is all about snow balling as either survivor and killer. And number of hooks don't mean anything. If you're getting 2 hooks on all survivors and no one dies, you didn't play well. Once one survivor dies, at that point the survivor lose the ability to complete any more generators and it's generally a win for killer. The only times where you're getting 2ks where that doesn't happen is if you tunnel out a survivor then all generators pop and then you catch one during EGC and camp them to death.
-
Tunneling and camping are both legitimate strategies. So you're saying that you're losing 70 percent of your matches. It's a good thing that they're reducing your MMR, hopefully you start playing verses some easier killers soon.
-
@solidhex said:
i guess it's just to hard to implement something that incorporates all the nuances and small details which indicate "skill". I honestly don't know either how complex a code like this would look. How can a basic KI determine if you're a good Legion? Or a good Wraith? Or if you facecamp/basement camp with Bubba and kill everyone?
But as Otz already said, the outrage because "i run them for 5 gens and get downgraded while the others escape and get promoted" is exaggerated. This NEVER happens every game (people who say this are intentionally exaggerating, no one runs the killer for 5 gens every game), yes it can happen and that's annoying but if you're that good in general you will be fine in most of your matches, because a lot of killers will drop chases with you and go for weaker players.
People just don't like to admit that they lost. As solo queue survivor you can get into a loop of death after death as survivor. Sometimes those deaths are outside of your control, for example when you're left on hook and no one comes to save you. This could be due to bad team mates or a heavy camping killer. And I get that in those circumstances it's easy to justify the loss by saying, well before I died he chased me for 2 generators or I completed 2 generators, or before I died I saved 3 people from hook and then feel like you've won even though you lost. But players need to face reality. Even if the way that you lost felt unfair (for example getting camped to death) It's still a loss when it comes to MMR and that's actually ok.
-
I feel like there's a simple solution to this. And that is to have the match making prioritize matches verses a killer that's different than the last 2 matches that you've been in.
-
@thrawn3054 said:
Ngl, this whole thing has me pretty pissed. What kind of dumbass system is like we know you got 20 unhooks, fixed 12 gens, and had a 20 minute chase, but you died so you suck lol. What an absolute joke.
The ultimate goal is the escape. If escaping doesn't matter, what the hell is your objective as survivor? Or should I say what's your objective as unhooker, gen jockey, and runner in dead by daylight?
-
Hag and Cannibal.
There is literally no chase with hag, just a big pool sign that says crouching only, violators will be sacrificed to a spider god.
There is literally no saving with cannibal that is face camping. Even cannibals that don't usually face camp will face camp once all generators are done, which is reasonable of them. It's just his POS kit that I hate.

Hello, I haven't played this game for a couple of years and today when I played I found that it's a entirely different game than the one I was used to play that was fun. Too much has changed, if you were gonna change the game this much then you should have made a new game, part 2. Instead you drove it in the dirt. It isn't fun anymore, more frustrating than fun. What you had before was really good, but when you fix something that wasn't broke you just make it worse not better. That's why soooo many people stopped playing, you changed too much. I have never seen a game company changed their game soo much over people crying about what needs to be changed for their own benefit and not really for the good of the game. You might as well put a nail in this coffin and start with a new and improved game that hopefully you'll have learned from this and not change your game soooo much and make people leave it.
2 years ago self-care was outrageously broken, Nurse was stupid over-powered, we had mories and insta-heal medkits. I get that it's different than it was 2 years ago, but it's not less balanced.
-
I hate leatherface, like really really hate leatherface. But not because he's a strong killer, I hate him because of how good he is at securing kills. You literally cannot save someone that leatherface is camping. Otzdarva recently did an experiment where he used corrupt intervention, deadlock, no way out, ans another perks that I can't remember right now on Leatherface and as soon as he downed a survivor he would camp them until they died. He won 6 games in a row before there was a game where 2 survivors escaped.

It just doesn't make sense to me for a killer to chase one person the whole game. Why do killers do this?
If I can tell that a survivor is really really good, I will throw to chase them. Why would I do that? To get better. You don't get better by chasing weak survivors you get better by learning how to chase good survivors.
-
It's really really hard to know if something is OP or just Meta. They're definitely meta and they will define the meta if they're not changed when they go live. But are they OP? I really don't know. When I was playing in the PTB even when they were being used I found strategies and builds that let me counter them, but at the same time matchmaking isn't a thing in the PTB, so if they were to go live would they be oppressive? I think that there are sure to be changes from the PTB to live, but I would rather that they are too powerful and then toned down then that they are nerfed to be just another useless perk.
-
I started as a survivor main. I was legitimately bad at the role and started to play killer to try to get better as survivor. Turns out I'm a much better killer than survivor and became a killer main. Still suck as survivor.
-
S tier in my opinion means competitive play viable. We'll see if she's still used in comp after the changes, but I doubt it.
-
Does Surge really need buffs, I always thought that it was a perk that was above average and has amazing synergy with Pop and Ruin. Do we really need to buff something that already pairs well with the meta perks.

Ruin is a bit too good. Undying is perfect.

Right. Stomped by competent survivors, but yeah... Overpowered.
A part of a killers kit can be unfair without the killer being overpowered. The perfect example of that is Death Slinger. Wraith on a whole is balanced, but the aura reading add-on and the uncloak lunge are unfair parts of his kit.

Who the hell said that about Power Struggle?
This was actually a very common sentiment when power force came out. Killers were afraid that a power force user could just go down under a pallet and if the killer didn't pick them up right away it would basically give them a ds like escape. The reality is that is way too hard to pull off.
In my opinion Boon totems would have to have a pretty strong AoE for it to be worth it for survivors to spend time setting them up and then going to the boon totem rather than to a generator. The only affect that I could see being worth it is a passive heal while being in the AoE area.
