  • WGLF is not good, this and BT should be combined before any sort of xp grinding buff should be considered.

Yes for the bodyblocking. I once found 3 survivors in the showers room of the map "The Game" as Doctor. I just used my power to put ALL of them to madness tier 3 before hitting them. The 3 of them claimed it was reportable and reported me for that. I'm pretty sure at least 70% of the player base has actually no idea what's actually reportable or not....

It depends on how long you did that. If it was a minute or two, you're fine. If it was ten or more, I believe you deserve a ban. You can't just waste everyone's time holding the game hostage to that extent and think that you are justified in doing so.

  • I have run into this, but it is also completely unimportant when the majority of the gray rank players are so new that they have only two, one, or even NO perks equipped.

It is my opinion that the matchmaking is obviously adding the survivors skill and dividing by four to group with the killers, when a couple of high skill survivors are grouped together the MMR is grouping them with one low skill survivor and placing them against a killer of medium skill, instead of putting a fourth player with moderate to high skill in the group and placing them against a high skill killer.

The problem is there are already too many new players brought on by the RE chapter, and the matchmaking isn't programmed to deal with them in a way I think most of us would find satisfying.

Nope, literally 0. Then again im on a 474 game "winning streak" of only 4ks and too lazy to slug hatch escapes.

Every team I have faced has been really solid. Totems destroyed in seconds, constant tinkerer procs, 1000s of hours. Knows how to juke nurse, thousands of hours when public. Every game has actually been quite challenging and I like it. So I have no complaints personally.

That's great, for you. I'm on the other end of it, obviously. We never know if a game is going to be tanked by the other survivors, or if we are picking on a new killer.

  • @BrokenSouI said:

Ah yes. Let's rag on it and shut it down after a day. NODDERS

Did I say shut it down? No, we need an MMR, but we need one that takes experience into account all of the time.

  • @BradQuackson said:

I care to disagree, on my nurse where I get 10-12 hooks a game, don't lose, only 4k and sometimes 3k when Im too lazy to slug, with usually 2-3 gens completed, I am getting the MMR of survivors with 1000-4000 hours, working well for me atleast.

So, you didn't face any mismatched teams?

  • Looks like two people didn't bother to read my post past the first couple words.

  • Anyone that knows anything about this game knows that rank doesn't equal skill, but time invested playing the game the way it is meant to be played. The point is, the killers at red rank that I face every day are NOT looking for easy mode. They want a challenge. They have been picked on by four man swf every other game and they treat every match like around the next corner is a flashlight brigade. They aren't playing wraith. If they were playing wraith the way wraith is being played right now, they wouldn't stay in the red ranks.

The wraiths that I have played against in the past few weeks since my return, are all gold or green ranks. They are obviously forcing themselves not to rank up by simply exploiting the overbuffed wraith. Almost every match is a matter of downing and hooking as fast as is possible in dbd, then letting the last one go by carrying them to the hatch. This doesn't increase rank. In fact games like this keep you in gold ranks. Camping, tunneling, and killing everyone on the first hook you can doesn't give you the points to get to red. I'd estimate around 40 matches vs. wraith the past three weeks (out of at least 500 survivor matches). All of them went exactly the same. Even the TTV streamer that we faced was doing this.

My son and I returned to dbd on PS5 less than a month ago. He is already 85% done with re-doing the trophies. The only thing that transferred from ps4 was the three prestige related trophies. We would have finished the new rift before Tome 3 released, but we are saving the blood for RE. In other words we aren't playing a little here and there, when we play a game we like, we obliterate it.

Hopefully BHVR aren't being tricked by the people exploiting this.

you should not have to pay for good killers. Why tf do you want this game to be pay-to-win.

The game is pay to win already. You can grind to avoid it, but the fact is that most of the best perks are on paid killers. Wraith's overbuff was probably a mistake.

Sarcasm doesn't translate well into writing, just for the record.

    Not sarcasm. Facts.

  • At this point, my number one concern with this is that EVERY SINGLE wraith I've faced since I came back after the buff is screwing with the numbers. They are actively cheating the system by ALWAYS letting the last survivor go. It protects them from ranking up too much, it stops the devs from seeing that the wraith got over-buffed, and it is flat out cheating.

    Stop it.

Why a base game killer should be even remotely good is beyond me. They should suck. You should have to pay for the better killers. It is a business after all.

  • If your list puts doctor at the top it is just wrong. He is absolutely the most annoying killer. Yesterday a faced a madman that used the hex Huntress Lullaby on doc. What a ruthless villain causing backwards random pop up SILENT skill checks.

  • I was taking a break during the last change to totems, and I have to say they are in an excellent place now that I've returned. They are often inside objects and even covered by bushes or bamboo. Even using maps and perks they can be hard to find sometimes.

I don't think a rework is necessary. They can't and shouldn't always be completely hidden. It's supposed to be random. If you don't like that they are sometimes out in the open, don't use hex perks or use even more hex perks like the totem cloning one. Simple as that. It used to be 75% of the time the lit totems would spawn on a hill like a beacon to be seen across every map. I feel like they did a great job with the last changes.

  • It is DEFINITELY the tome. Survivors got open 10 chests, cleanse 15 totems, and heal 3 people in a single match etc. I understand that not every single challenge can be something you are already doing every game, but COME ON!

My son played three killer matches last night where ALL FOUR SURVIVORS burnt extra chests! Easy wins for him, but that sucks.

The Rift has been ruining the game since it's release.

  • I agree. Get rid of tier 1 and 2 perks completely. Also remove the 1 million cap. Also get rid of the web, let us buy perks one at a time, and let us buy what we want in daily limited amounts. This would get people to play more daily and also limit the more valuable sought after items. It would also allow people to stop wasting blood on items that are utterly worthless.

  • I'd like to point out that you all hating on 'blendettes' sound like a bunch of racists. You're also cheating if you are working with the killer. Leading the killer to the other survivors is the definition of working with the killer.

  • @CountVampyr said:

I don’t get it. Certain rounds go by and it’s like nobody tries to hide when a person is hooked even when it is completely obvious that it’s in play. Just had one against a Blight that would down people across the map mere seconds after a hook. These aren’t noobs either they’re in red ranks like I am. What is it? Cockiness? Some random challenge? Or is it they just don’t care? I get a little flustered waiting ten minutes for a match only to find people not even trying to win.

Lol. You have to wait ten minutes?! Before cross play the wait time for us was ~30 minutes.

You waste a lot of time trying to hide from BBQ. I bring distortion, so I don't have to hide my aura at least three times. With that you can pretty much figure out every single perk a killer has most games. Tap a gen, oh look ruin. Finish a gen, there is Bitter Murmur. Survivor hooked and you are out of range, BBQ confirmed. Downed survivor makes you scream, there's the choir (to be clear distortion won't stop this). The only problem is that if you find someone with Nurse's Calling or the totem aura revealer you will see your tokens evaporate. It still helps you figure that information out though. I find that knowing for certain what at least some of the killer's perks are helps a ton.

  • I can confirm that it does not unlock 99% of trophies, as I have the platinum on PS4. The trophies related to 50-3 do unlock. This was very annoying to me, as they obviously took the time to give us credit for the one thing we might not be able to do again, but expect us to redo some of the worst trophies to ever be created and didn't bother making sure they work. The PS5 trophies are even buggier than PS4 were. For instance, killing 4 survivors in the same match (not sacrificing) triggered for me on a second sacrifice while two others were still alive.

They are still as grindy as they were the first time, so I have no intention of finishing them again, but my son is working on and almost has his platinum for a second time. He only needs to finish sac 500. The hatchet throws was the worst if I remember correctly. Requiring Merciless victories for killers adepts when survivors can crawl out after hiding in lockers all game to get their adept is another reason I refuse to waste my time.

  • The only wraith games that I've seen ANY survivors escape were games where they let the last one go. The wraith mains are obviously doing this to either avoid a double pip and stay lower rank, or to fudge the numbers so BHVR doesn't see how OP he is now.

If the killer takes no effort at all and requires very good opponents for even a chance that survivors will escape, he is OP and needs a nerf. All of the other S/A/B tier killers require effort and/or skill. With the current wraith there is none of that. Oni has to charge up. Nurse has to time blinks. Spirit can't see survivors when she's fast. Wraith can loop gyms/shack and meet the survivors on the other side. Where is his downside/detriment?

He needs an ever increasing timer on his cloak/uncloak. Every time it's used add a second or two, and every time a survivor dies do the same.

  • Run it as a counter, that's not a bad idea. It does have the added advantage that you can avoid accidentally leading the killer to other survivors.

If it keeps up like this I will try it. I usually run Borrowed Time, Fixated, Sprint Burst, and Distortion. My son goes for the chase so he runs Fast Track instead of Distortion.

  • I agree, he is too fast. I don't know if resetting his speed will be the right choice though. I expect we will see cloaking cooldown timers any day now. Perhaps for every time you uncloak you get a token that adds a second or two to the time it takes to cloak/uncloak.

  • I hate doctors that only want to make you insane. It's just annoying. It's obvious that these people aren't touching you and desperately want you to know that so you can't tell on them.

  • I had a game last week with a Bill wearing the entire outfit (even the level 70 chest). Is buying tiers a thing, because I can't see how they got that far otherwise?

  • There is already a solution to this. FOV sliders already exist. Grab two pieces of paper and tape them to either side of your screen. Slide them left and right. There you go, and you can even go to the max of the slider and take off the papers completely, but that is frowned upon as weak.

  • You don't need a YouTuber to tell you how to think. It is a simple matter. Hiding skill rating and later rank will make it look like they didn't fix matchmaking and hid this from us to get us to stop complaining.

They need to show us everyone's skill ratings on the end card, and I hope they go so far as to show the cross comparison that would explain how much rating we gained or lost (and why) when the match ends.

This isn't only a matchmaking issue. Most people want to improve their game play and to do so they will need this information.

  • @Peanits said:

More or less. You will see your own rank. It'll be something for you to work towards each month. Nobody else will see it, though.

Your rating is going to be completely hidden, though, and your rank will have no influence on matchmaking.

This is bad. This can easily look like your 'fix' is only going to be removing the visibility of ranks, so people stop complaining (with proof) about bad matchmaking.

Even if you do have the other system in place and it is working great, every single one of us will have no evidence of that, and anyone that wants to can say you lied.

Simple solution: Make skill rating visible to everyone at the end of the match. Even better show the cross comparison so players see how they were grouped. Even better than that, show how much gain/loss there is based on that comparison. It is not going to benefit players to hide this at all, and though BHVR seems to think it will benefit them, it will be a dumpster fire, in my opinion.

  • I think hiding the skill rating at all is a bad idea. Players like achievement and there is a great opportunity here to show us a measurement of our achievements. Otherwise I'm glad BHVR is working on these changes.

  • @Infckingcredible Still, it was too much grind. I stopped working on Tome 1 after Level 3, because I figured out how much grind it would take me to finish it off from where I would have ended if I finished Level 4, around tier 55. It was 210 more games. That is not hours, that is matches of the game. That means it would take me roughly 53 hours of grinding games AFTER completing Levels 1-4 of Tome 1. Add to that the games were becoming unplayable because everyone was working on the Rift instead of playing the game like normal.

    That isn't worth my time.

I hope the next Tome has challenges that bring us a more reasonable amount of progress in the Rift, and that those challenges aren't bottle-necking players into playing badly.

They did say on the stream that with the Blood Hunt starting in January, it would mean that people wouldn't have to ignore their families to take advantage of it. So far from trying to kill our fun or anything like that, the impression I got was that they knew most people spend time with their families in that week between Christmas and New Year, and so they tried to make the Blood Hunt at a time when all that would have died down and people would be back to their usual schedule. That, and they're probably reluctant to run an event during a period where no one is going to be at the studio to monitor it.

Did they? I watched all the way up to the part where they started talking about Oni's story, and I didn't hear the words you are saying at all. It sounds to me like you are being an apologist.

From the player's standpoint it was a simple thing to do the minimal and just give us what we had last year, as they had already done the work.

Why wouldn't they want us to play more when most of us have more free time to do so? That makes no sense. My son and I were looking forward to the event. My blood is capped with nothing to spend it on, but I sure could use some firecrackers, and some presents for my killer. What reason should I play during Christmas? For the horrendous games that the rift will bring me? Oh, and no, I don't need a blood hunt as I just said my blood is capped. Well, we've got a random fog gates in Dark Souls mod, a Borderlands 3 DLC, my son just got Mario Maker 2 for Christmas, and YouTube keeps spamming us with this game called Last Year or something like that.

So, I guess I do owe you a thank you, Devs, you alleviated the frustration of dealing with bad matches by not giving us a holiday event. Now we can go enjoy our holidays not playing Dead by Daylight, just like @Fibijean said you wanted us to. I guess that was a good present after all. Merry Christmas!

  • Wow! No, it isn't better than nothing, because it is exactly that, NOTHING! There is nothing for the holiday, this blood hunt is for after, and has nothing to do with the holiday.

So, it is nothing, which is not better than nothing, because that is what nothing is.

  • @Jesya I hope you don't think the bloodhunt scheduled for January 2nd is a holiday thing. That has nothing to do with the holidays and is specifically designed for logins during the bleak period between the ending of one rift and the beginning of the next.

  • @xCarrie More like they all will be busy on their well deserved vacations after milking all the cows.

  • I can't remember the others for sure, but it was either in thirty minutes, or two hours and thirty minutes.

Basically either 11 am EST or 1 pm EST were when the others came out.

  • What we need for Christmas is the firecrackers and presents in the blood web, and the presents should also contain rift fragments.

  • @meatisadelicacy I can't get flashlight saves on PS4, but lucky for me the challenge was to blind the killer in level 3. So, fireworks work, which I can easily do.

    Hope this helps.

  • DS isn't as good as most killers seem to think. Five seconds is not long enough for you to escape, so if the killers were just good enough at tracking and looping to down you again it is only a ten or twenty second delay on that hooking. Instead, killers give it so much respect that they add thirty seconds to that hooking, and possibly even give the escape to those slugged survivors that heal up to 95% or more if they run unbreakable...

The power the killers give DS is what is making it so good. Just play like it doesn't exist and it loses all of its power - except in EGC, where the survivor could actually use it to escape you.

What needs to be dealt with is the fact that some of the best perks a killer has are able to be destroyed by clicking on a totem. Those hex perks should have a lesser passive buff that remains regardless of the totem being broken.

  • It is human nature for most people on the internet to be more inclined to complain, than to give praise.

    You asked.

I don't imagine many of us envy the CMs job weeding through what is worthy of noting and what is just derisive diatribe.

  • @Aven_Fallen So, you are saying that every player that likes the old method of just paying for the cosmetics you want is a whiny baby? You really have nothing to contribute, do you?

I don't like what these luck-based non-challenges are doing to the game. If you think you are skilled and deserve a reward for throwing a match, or ten, to finish one of them then you are completely mistaken.

Even the ones that some people think are more 'difficult' like getting all four survivors in the basement, still rely a great deal on LUCK. You have to be lucky enough to have decent basement placement, lucky enough to have cooperative survivors that don't DC or just stay too far away from the basement, and lucky enough to not face a survivor group that finishes their objective too fast for you to 4k.

  • To be clear I am fairly certain that the devs are NOT the problem here, it is most likely the company that is controlling the path to monetization and the rushed release of said monetization. You know, those people that tell the devs what to do.

Also, I am fairly certain that if enough people left to actually make an impact on DbD those same big wigs would just shut the game off, as they did with the other game Behaviour had a little while ago.

  • @PeenutsButt3r Shouldn't it be live tomorrow? All the other levels of the tome were released on a two week schedule.

  • Then survivors that are clearly failing to escape could sac themselves by dcing to turn the tide in their favor. Teams would probably set this up beforehand finding out who needs the blood and whatnot as well as setting up guidelines for when to do the deed. For instance, the survivor on death hook could DC before that hooking, giving his team a huge advantage instead of a major loss.

  • @Maj33y I see, your percentages were confusing me. You meant finish a total of one gen as survivor in a match, and break/damage a total of one gen in a match. Those are definitely possible, though the killer one would be difficult without some great damage perks.

I also had trouble with the NOED sacrifices during endgame collapse. I hate waiting for the chance that they might escape so I always ended up with too many dead survivors by EGC to complete the challenge. That's why I decided to just wait until EGC to even try this. Another perfect example of challenges ruining games. Those survivors thought I was AFK/not playing while I wait for NOED and EGC. Twice they just left, and it just took luck in the third game for me to get two stuck at the unopened door and down them both. It wasn't fun relying on luck and possibly throwing those matches while waiting for EGC.

  • @Maj33y There definitely need to be some changes. However, I don't think you thought all of your ideas through completely.

Too many of the challenges you suggest rely entirely on the opposing side/luck. For instance, you cannot possibly play to win a match and defend your totems as killer. Getting that challenge done would mean you threw the match or got lucky. Also as killer you cannot completely control whether one generator is done or not. This would rely on the survivors screwing up, or the killer just getting lucky. The same goes for breaking three totems. You cannot stop your team from breaking them, and what if they are also working on the same challenge? There are only five totems, so if even ONE survivor besides yourself is working on that challenge one of you won't get it done. This is a perfect example of why players are throwing matches and ruining the game. A survivor sees that you are breaking a totem and they will run to killer and die or just DC because they can't progress their challenge and want a new match to try again.

I think that most of the single match challenges need to be changed to cumulative match challenges.

  • @mmain I agree it hasn't been fun, but nobody knows what the next Tome will bring for challenges. This was the first one, so hopefully they learn a little from the data they collect, and the people here on the forums. We can only wait and see what will come next.

The two things I hope to see are no bottlenecks. Get rid of the web and just let us progress the challenges we want to do first. And less grind, meaning cut out about 20 levels in the rift but keep Tome 2 the same length as Tome 1 is. Basically, finishing every challenge should also be enough to finish the rift. Every customer that finishes the rift track is a potential buyer of the premium, while every single one that doesn't is potential lost revenue. Also, when there is less grind involved less people will feel rushed to complete it and players won't be farming challenges as much, which ruins matches.

  • @mmain What makes you think the tome/rift system will ever end? They have made it pretty clear that there will be more, I expect the next one will be out directly after New Years. Plus, from my understanding, Tome 1 will still be available for people to finish long after the first rift ends. I believe it just won't give you rift fragments anymore.

  • @Fibijean The trophies were (possibly inadvertently) changed when Plague was released to be this insane because they increased the requirements for killers to get emblems. So, It obviously isn't too hard to do, because I don't believe that they actually touched the trophies themselves, just changed the event in the game that caused the trophies to pop.

SO, if they just changed the event in the game that gives the Merciless, I believe that is what is needed, to award that whenever you get a 4k (including disconnects) well then presto, no need to change the trophy.

  • @Alice_pbg said:

So...half the time of the rift has passed and you're lvl 43. Of 70.

You really don't think you'll finish it?

I seriously doubt it. It isn't impossible, what it is, is just too much grind. I intend to finish the last level of the tome. I am exaggerating when I say it will get me to 55. My exact estimate is 53. If I have a hard time doing some of the challenges, then 55. That is an addition 28 games off what I expect it will take. That's a lot of leeway.

I also started with (I think it was) seven extra levels at the beginning, because they had a bug that counted our devotion from earlier that month and didn't want to waste time fixing it.

  • I'm Tier 43 and I only have three challenges left. The No-ed sacs, kill the obsession 4 times, and the final killer track.

I will most likely not be buying the premium track. Not because I don't want that loot, but because I refuse to grind to finish. At this rate I will be ~50-55 at the end. Going off pretty much the max you can get; four games gets you three rift fragments. Which means it takes 14 games to get one level in the rift.

This means, at the very best situation, I can expect at least a 210+ game grind to finish the rift. I'm not going to do that.

  • A bedpan would be great for all those jump scares. Also a box of tissues and a salt shaker.
