  • I am really glad your team fixed those bugs, so THANKS! but...

The patch broke some challenges in the rift. At first the tab on the right reset to the old numbers before level 3 was changed, then looking at the tome reset the numbers to the new ones. Now having completed 10/10 heals for Lifegiver looks like it finishes it, but it cannot be completed/turned in because the game is looking for 15/15 I would guess. You can still re-equip it as your challenge, but I'm not sure if it will progress or just sit their unfinished.

  • @ad19970 If you know any six year olds that curse like a sailor then you might want to stop teaching them that stuff, or maybe call CPS or DFS or whatever government organization you have that can check to see if that kid is getting the care they need.

We are entitled to a working game, especially when we just bought a new DLC yesterday. They said they'll fix it, so I guess we wait and see if that is sooner or too later.

  • Grind is not difficulty. You are not accomplishing something to be proud of. Grind is a mental game designed by psychologists for monetization of the game. It is meant to annoy some people enough to get them to pay for grind avoidance. Behaviour is using a method other game designers perfected long ago with the help of actual psychologists who designed these ideas to trick customers, for the benefit of money.

They expect players to defend this grind and wear it as a badge of honor, a bragging rights trophy. Anyone that sees it for what it is considers this to be the opposite of achievement. The loss of good game design. The path of a failing to be fun game.

Look at what we've lost already because of the rift. Now you have to grind to buy cosmetics you could have just bought before. In addition to that all of the events we had every year have been ended, and put in the rift at the least, with the comment that they are going to use this time to fix the game. I think the truth is that means the people that were designing and implementing events are designing and fixing the rift with that time now.

Now, what have we gained? Horrible games. 9/10 games are filled with players trying to complete rift challenges. These challenges are often contrary to what you would normally want to do, and how normal game play would go. They are making the matches less fun. In addition to that you have everyone looking at that rift bar thinking about how much time they have to spend. This is cause for some people to just stop playing, the opposite end of the psychological spectrum. Less players means longer lobbies means getting a possibly not fun match takes even longer...

Oh, but now we have charms. So worthwhile, right?

  • No, this is the opposite direction of where we need to go. Get rid of the second lobby completely. Lobby dodging is the same as DCing.

  • I blame grind burnout. The rift in particular has caused a significant increase in grind, and because of that I've played much less in between finishing the challenges of each level.

The challenges have also drastically decreased the fun of each match, because everyone is going for a challenge and if you aren't helping them or are getting in their way they just want to get on to the next match.

  • @TunnelVision Wrong, because he admits to choosing to reapply the effect if they succeeded the checks.

That is holding the game hostage. The doctor gets nothing out of standing over you spraying insanity for no other reason but to stop you from being able to play. The survivors can literally do nothing but those skill checks over and over again because he is reapplying the effect if they succeed. That is the definition of 'holding the game hostage'.

  • Doctor is annoying, not evil, and I would call this holding the game hostage. They can't leave without DCing, and you aren't killing them on purpose just to annoy the crap out of them.

  • @Omans Explain how they got to red ranks then. They cannot 'do nothing' and pip, it is not possible.

  • Besides just blood points, the amount of time you are in the match also affects your devotion experience, which in turn affects leveling your rift. That ~60 seconds can add up if you use it.

  • I'm sorry but don't like that idea. I have no interest in being grouped with someone on the other side of the planet just because they clicked my region. I'd rather wait for a fair match.

Also, your assessment of Japanese players is pretty much racist. The descriptions you are giving are not of Japanese players but of rank 20-15 players. I'm guessing you are also grouped with other enormous Asian countries like China, South Korea, etc. but you are calling out one specific group of people. So, rank up. There is no way survivors at rank 1 are doing the stuff you describe.

  • I've said it before: WGLF needs to give the person that is getting unhooked the ability to stop the unhook if it is an unsafe unhook. A kick to the face, a 10 second stun, and exposed to the WGLF user that thinks it's okay to unhook in front of the killer without Borrowed Time. This is the change that WGLF needs.

I would rather die on the hook than get farmed.

  • I would probably get fired for telling the BHVR execs that we are going to stop aggressively monetizing DbD.

  • @Swimming_Bird

You really need to at least change Bitter Murmur out for Rancor. Rancor is so much better if you're trying to find survivors and lets you kill one of them during endgame.

I would also change Overcharge for Pop Goes the Weasel as well. If they hit the overcharge skill check that is a totally wasted perk, where Pop is a guaranteed regression as long as you've hooked someone recently.

  • @John_Doe That's not a bad idea. I think they should start the winter festival early and put rift shards in the presents we buy with bloodpoints.

  • The face/mask is in the style of an oni (a type of demonic yokai that looks more like a troll to the west) straight out of Japanese games like Nioh and Sekiro. It could be the father who wears the mask, but does that mean he was possessed?

  • @twistedmonkey The same is true in the current situation. If the grind is too inconvenient most people will say screw you I'm not doing that and I sure as hell am not paying you for it.

The better situation is putting almost everyone into a fair and reasonable opportunity to complete the rift, then they all are a potential customer of the premium rift purchase.

In addition to that, I think they need to stop staggering the release immediately. Nobody is playing right now. Not because they have nothing to do, because most people could be grinding rift right now, but because they would simply make more progress by playing after the 13th, so they are waiting until then to play.

  • I think this is a really great idea. It could be an addition to we're gonna farm our teammates (live forever). It could work like this, if you run WGLF and are trying to unhook someone unsafely (in the terror radius without borrowed time), then you give the survivor you are unhooking the capability to kick you in the face and deny the unhook. This gives you exposed for 10 minutes and the blind (like a firework) for 10 seconds, in addition to denying you to farm your teammate.

  • @hudson What only required a small amount of game time to earn last year, 30 vials for a full outfit, now either requires you to grind significantly more time or pay to level up the rift. If you can pay to avoid grind but cannot possibly finish the grind because it takes too much time that you don't have or want to spend on DbD, then for you it is a paywall.

Saying that it will take two tomes, in other words four weeks, to earn what last year took one weekend is the perfect example of why this is a paywall.

  • Then some survivors would dc just to boost you out of their rank.

  • @MegMain98 Question: Do you play on a PS4 Pro?

My son and I play DbD on the same internet at the same time in the same room. I use a normal PS4, he uses a PS4 pro. I am almost never disconnected, he gets disconnected about once a session... You would think the pro is better, it is by far not a better system. DbD isn't the only game we have issues like this on. We just finished (basically-the end boss is bugged) Remnant, and he would continually get kicked out or experience game breaking lag on that game and many others as well.

  • I just finished my level 1 rift, 4k three times in a row with Shape to get the last few challenges done, and I still love it. I main survivor but I've gone through platinum on PS4 and The Shape is by far my favorite killer to play as, and I also love to play against him as survivor. For me, nothing in DbD beats that moment when the music starts the hunt.

Of note, if you are working on the 4k for the rift my son just got his with one person DCing, so that is good to see.

  • It wasn't awarding iridescent shards until the game I just played. I wasn't getting them or progress to level up devotion for the past five hours. I only realized it because I spent them all last week in the shrine. Now it seems to be working.

  • Killers have a lot more work to do, and they don't leave the match until the game is over so it just makes sense, but I'd say the amount of blood needed to grind everything in this game is atrocious. We should all be earning double or triple what we do all of the time just to make the grind a reasonable thing, and they should triple the cap of 1 million, too.

  • Sorry, I don't have any Kit Kats left.

  • Well, after they hit (or miss) you with the almost completely useless stun, follow their scratch marks because they are definitely running around like a chicken with their head cut off. Down them. Hook them. Repeat as necessary.

  • @GrootDude WGLF does need something added to it, because it isn't balanced when compared to the killer's xp perk, but I'm not sure what you mean. I'd like to have an aura reading effect added to it like BBQ&C, but most things that would be useful would probably also be too powerful.

As for my change, I'd make everything you bring to a match have a weight (perk tiers, items, add-ons, 20-rank), and that weight would be used to match killers with survivors that are using a similar weight. Also get rid of the second lobby so there would be no chance to switch things around.

  • The soundtrack that plays as the Shape gets to tier two. As either the killer or the survivor, this happening is the top thing that makes DbD fun for me.

  • @Grimbergoth I'd say the opposite. Killers would only need to find one person and hook them in order to find several, and Freddy's dream state bypassed borrowed time completely so there was no way to make a safe rescue against a camping Freddy. He'd camp, put both the unhooked survivor and the rescuer to sleep, maybe more(if extra rescuers showed up). He'd down the rescuer, then he'd tunnel, because he could see everyone who was asleep from a certain distance. His biggest flaw was the ability to break out of the dream by failing a skill check, making his ability only really useful when the killer used it to tunnel and camp.

The point is, it just wasn't fun to face most Freddy's I played against before the rework. There were some out there that really knew how to play him, but that number was probably less than 10%. Now he is fun and unique. His power cannot be abused easily and it also can't simply be stopped by a failed skill check.

Anyone that thinks he is too powerful because of his teleport doesn't use stealth like they should. Simply sneak away from a generator when he's teleporting instead of leaving a scratch mark trail directly to you. It's that simple. Sure he'll still find you sometimes but you shouldn't make it easy for him.

  • I love the new Freddy. Whenever I'd face the old Freddy he was always face camping at the hook. Now he is all over the map and fun to play as and against.

  • Like Zixology pointed out, I too have that bug. I'll start a match working on one daily and finish only to find I've made no progress because it is a completely different daily now.

I don't recommend saving dailies like we used to do. With all the changes they are making to the game in 3.3.0, and the bug that is breaking them at the moment, you could easily just lost that effort.

  • Don't listen to others when they say run somewhere like a chicken with your head cut off. Use Urban Evasion. These players either know how to loop, or they are the ones complaining that Spirit is op. They don't know how easy it is for the killer to track scratch marks. Why do they think that it is safe? Because there are four survivors. If all four start the match by running somewhere the killer will find up to four trails to follow. The killer is one person that can only follow one trail. Be smart, don't leave a trail.

  • To be fair the game says in the description that it is asymmetrical. A quick Google search shows that unbalanced could easily be a synonym:

"having parts which fail to correspond to one another in shape, size, or arrangement; lacking symmetry."

"Dead by Daylight is an asymmetric survival horror game developed by Behaviour Interactive. "

Also, it is an online game, if you were hoping for a perfect balance when new things come out every couple of months that is wishful thinking.

  • For me toxic in game comes in two fashions, getting body blocked so you cannot play as a survivor, and DCing as either killer or survivor.

After a match on PC saying anything inappropriate is also toxic.

  • I think the clown has the best new skin, and last year's best was the huntress.

The doctor's is my least favorite skin.

  • I think that if even one person disconnects the game should lower the safety to nothing. None of the other players should lose out because of bad internet or salty players.

  • It was almost definitely something to do with the archives, because as far as I know the event is the same as last year.

I bet the challenges you have to choose in the archives are affected by the same bug that is changing players' daily rituals. You go into a game with one daily and when the game is over it is a completely different daily.

  • This reeks of a follower who didn't get the interaction they wanted from the streamer they are watching, or worse, played a match against them and got upset because of that, and simply wants revenge.

    Hey! Who cares?

No really, like... who cares man? It's not even a big deal.

What are you even saying they are getting free? Seriously, this is a non-issue that Twitch would say they have an issue with anyway.

Besides that Twitch ignores it's own TOS with things like that lady showing her.... then getting back on Twitch after her 4th NSFW strike after only having a 3-4 day ban instead of a permanent one.

This is why sponsors are required to announce they are sponsors, and yes, most people do care about this:

The official website of the Federal Trade Commission, protecting America’s consumers for over 100 years.

It is, in my opinion, illegal to not announce sponsorships. However, I have no idea whether the words 'Fog Whisperer' in the stream title is enough of a notification. People who know what that is, already know it means they are sponsoring DbD, and people who don't know need only to do a google search on what those words mean to find out that those streamers are being compensated.

Only when several Toolboxes are brought in and I don't have Franklin's on that Killer and/or don't want to switch to a Killer that has Franklin's. Sometimes jus not in the mood for that. *slow shrug*

This is why I always bring at least a brown toolbox when playing survivor, or even better - a broken key. Nothing messes with a killer more than getting them to waste their own perk slot.

My opinion is this, the second lobby needs to be removed. You should be ready the first time you join the queue. Imagine waiting in only one queue. I bet that would make the game at least a little more stable.

  • The best advice I can give you is to realize that 'winning' doesn't mean escaping or killing all four survivors. Pipping is a better measurement, although it is by no means perfect. You can easily pip and die, or fail to sac them all and still pip.

Once I changed my mindset about what it meant to 'win' the game was much less stressful. Good luck and have fun!

There's no reason to constantly repost the same whinge threads either. Behav10r doesn't give a hoot how casuals feel. They set it up where you lot specifically would have to choose between playing more thereby filling the queues or opening your wallets and paying for progress.

Spare the rest of us the endless whinge over it and the dramatic victim class rhetoric.

Casuals deserve nothing and should receive the same chance everyone else has to fail or achieve. Which is exactly what they are getting.

The problem I have with this concept is simple. They are hiding something -that would have previously just been placed in the store- behind a grind, and worse. This grind, you have to be conned into paying to participate in. Is it entitlement to feel scammed/conned when the games developers decide to take a method of scamming/conning money out of people instead of the normal method they already had in game? A game we have to buy?

  • What game are you playing? I open people's chests every time I play killer.

  • @Duckodb12 said:

They need to completely do away with ranks. It’s always been more trouble than it’s worth.

I agree! Matchmaking should be based on what you bring to the match. Your perks, your items, and your add-ons should match you with others similarly geared up. There should also be no ready screen after the first one, because then you could change your loadout.

  • The solution to DCs is not to further punish anyone. In case you didn't know you can leave the game through the menu and lose two pips for doing so. You can dashboard or disconnect by other (cheating) means, but I believe you still lose rank that way as well.

For my fixes I am referring to the option in the menu that allows you to leave a match.

Behaviour needs to remove double rank loss from DC (making smurfing more difficult), and instead give the survivor the rewards for their progress in that match and sacrifice that survivor with the same method as endgame collapse. If they didn't make it to a safety pip they will lose one pip.

When a killer DCs they should get what progress they have put into the match, as should everyone that participated. If they didn't safety pip they lose a pip. If they double pipped they won't avoid it with a disconnect to smurf. When the killer disconnects the survivors should be awarded an escape through the door.

As it stands now, having the survivor be capable of controlling the killers emblem so easily is not fair. Also, having a method to derank so easily is not fair. Finally, giving the killer the control over the survivors survival emblem when the killer DCs is not fair. It should have been setup this way from the beginning.

This would eliminate (mostly) smurfing, hostage taking, and dealing with toxic players of all sorts.

  • I have a solution, one that should have always been in game. Make survivors disconnecting through the menu give you the blood and progress you have earned, and also sacrfice you as it would if you waited until the end of the endgame collapse.

That way both killer and survivor get what they want, other than being jerks.

  • That was probably Unbreakable, or No Mither. Maybe even both. I play a build for fun sometimes with the crawling perk and those two, and the +speed while injured. If you're left dying you can get up in seconds while also crawling away.

I used that build with a sabotage tool box to get the wiggle free trophy, it was a lot of fun.

  • I wish I remembered to screenshot this. I don't always check when I'm obsession but I just happened to be looking at everyone's perks on the end card this game.

    Bug or WAI?

  • It is complicated, I agree, but something definitely needs to change.

  • @LastShoe

"You like to strike the opponent in a discussion, do you? Its not a boxing match, don't attack the opponent, attack his arguments."

Except, before now you never provided any solid information to discuss at all, all you stated was that you were correct, which is incorrect.

"They would, simply because of their skill lvl... that's the issue with the deranking, good perks won't do much by itself."

Incorrect. Skill makes a difference, that's why I suggested using rank as a secondary matchmaking system, maybe even adding that to the weight and remove deranking.

The perks make the largest difference. Rank is easier to abuse than a weighted perk system, because all it takes is to start a match, and then disconnect, bam 2 pips of rank lost. That means you can literally derank from rank one to rank 15 in less than an hour (a guess, but a pretty solid one)? If you do this right before the monthly rank reset you might find yourself at 16 or 17 (18? I don't know how low it goes when you are 15 at reset).

I speculated that you didn't understand:

"As i said, weight system will be very unfriendly for a new players, why? Its simple, while gaining new lvls on the bloodweb you can't choose the perks that you will get, and because of it new players will be forced to play against people with actually decent perks or play without any perk..."

You thought I meant that all perks you have access to give you weight, but I clearly stated:

"Plays with some of the top" perks. Meaning deciding to equip them in your loadout is what decides your weight and then you would match-make with a killer/survivors that are similarly weighted. My entire suggestion revolves around giving weight to what you bring to the match itself, not simply what you have access to.

You decide what perks you equip. A new player that happens to get lucky enough to get all the top weight perks STILL has to level the tiers up to 3 (obviously tier 1 isn't as good as tier 3 so it would have less weight) and ALSO has to CHOOSE to equip the tryhard's standards in order for their weight to come up to that of maxed out player/s. Once they happen to get tier 3 of all the most valuable perks they will face opponent/s with matching weight, and should have had a much greater chance to learn how to play (aka get skill) which means they would have the same advantage.

As it stands right now, a person that has played the game for ~two hours can reach 15. That same person will be facing players as early as rank ~18 that should be top rank, that have played for years, but are exploiting the system. So something needs to change, and this is one way that would at least make the system better balanced.

I don't think a rank system change could fix this, because there will always be deranking unless they stop rank loss which means eventually everyone would be rank one.

  • @LastShoe said:

Play some games with a weight system in them and you will see how bad it is. It is either heavily abused or very unfriendly towards players that are starting to finally upgrade their kit.

And deranking requires time, while changing perks doesen't.

Deranking does not require that much effort, and as long as that is a thing the exploiters can use it to their advantage, but they wouldn't have nearly as much advantage in a weighted system, because if they bring the advantage they'd face players with the same weight...

Seems like you don't understand, or you are already enjoying exploiting the deranking that exists.
